    Go Ikaika!
    Go Warriors!

  2. WarriorNY August 18, 2016 2:08 pm

    Good Luck Ikaika!
I hope this offense suits your game better than the last one…

  3. Hilo-Warrior August 18, 2016 2:13 pm

Alright tsaikos. We have an answer. Let us get ready to smoke some bears.

    Go Warriors!

  4. Luki August 18, 2016 2:13 pm

With that done, GP for Cal in full effect… Congratulations Ikaika! #gobows #landdownunder

  5. Andrew August 18, 2016 2:14 pm

I hope he has a breakout season and it is much different than it has been in previous ones. I just also hope though that the coaching staff doesn’t wait too long to pull the plug in case things go south quickly

  6. al August 18, 2016 2:20 pm

I pray that by season’s end Stephen gets to retell and write the Cinderella story about Ikaika Woolsey.

His character is bar none. Quite like Blaine Gaison and Inoke Funaki before him.

    True warrior men.

  7. KAWIKS210 August 18, 2016 2:27 pm

    Who’s #2?

  8. Da Punchbowl Kid August 18, 2016 2:28 pm

    IMUA IKAIKA!!!

    GOWARRIORS!!!

    nuff said.

  9. Derek August 18, 2016 2:34 pm

Waiting now for the rest of the depth chart. Beat da Golden Bears!

  10. 808warriorfan August 18, 2016 2:35 pm

Wonder how the rest of the depth chart is ?????

Regardless of the win/loss record I’d like to see
an Offense that is entertaining, a Defense that
will attack the ball carrier, and no stupid penalties …
In time things will fall into place.

Like everyone else I’d love to see an upset win over
Cal but it will take a TEAM EFFORT … not just Ikaika

LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS !!!!!

  11. ShoyuChicken August 18, 2016 2:35 pm

So Tsai any news about Hendrie and if he will be able to make the trip to Australia? Haven’t heard about him and I think many people in Australia want to at least see him suit up.

  12. Jeezy33 August 18, 2016 2:49 pm

    6. Odds are not good on that. Dating back to June Jones, whenever there was a QB battle, QB who won the battle was replaced every time. I think Dan Robinson was last guy to hold on..
After that, Rolo starts, loses job to Timmy.
Timmy starts, loses job to Rolo.
Graunke wins job, loses job to Colt.
Rausch wins job, loses to Alexander then Moniz.
I know I missed Funaki somewhere in the mix and others.. But even under Chow, starters didn’t finish seasons.

  13. Bowwar August 18, 2016 2:49 pm

It is, what it is…Let’s hope for the best. Good luck Ikaika! Go Warriors!

  14. Andrew August 18, 2016 2:51 pm

    10.

If I’m not mistaken, It was Funaki who went in after Alexander got injured in 2008 right? Or was it because he wasn’t doing well.. I forget

  15. Andrew August 18, 2016 2:55 pm

I just remember Funaki beating ranked Fresno State that year which is probably one of my more favorite road wins by UH in recent memory

  16. lawaia August 18, 2016 2:57 pm

Ikaika, best wishes and success this season. You earned it. Imua Na Koa Anuenue.

  17. oldtimer808 August 18, 2016 3:14 pm

I have a feeling Ikaika will be just fine under Rolo. Everyone played under duress from the Chow era and hard to play the game freely. Go Bows!!!

  18. A-House August 18, 2016 3:27 pm

    Bryson:

if you are still interested – tickets arrived today – your cost is $100

can make exhange tomorrow? have a 8:45 medical appointment — should be available from 10 am — perhaps meet on 615 Piikoi Street

  19. H-Man August 18, 2016 3:33 pm

Congratulations to Ikaika. He looked good in the first fall scrimmage. Carry that mindset to the Cal game and he will be just fine.

  20. Arcumfortis August 18, 2016 3:42 pm

#6 Al: I agree. I love a good story. A good story here would be Ikaika rising up and playing great football under the new regime. If the story doesn’t work out that way it’s good to know there are some others with promise not far behind.

  21. Old School Dave August 18, 2016 3:46 pm

Congrats to Ikaika!! He’s been through a lot, but has persevered. Coaching also makes the difference. Dan Robinson 2.0!!

  22. Old School Dave August 18, 2016 3:52 pm

Go Ikaika!! He’s been through a lot, but has persevered. Coaching also makes the difference. Dan Robinson 2.0!!

  23. Old School Dave August 18, 2016 3:53 pm

Posts/site is acting “funny kine.” Sorry.

  24. hitmanhart August 18, 2016 3:59 pm

Congratulations to Ikaika, hope u have a great season ! and hope rolo finds time to get the other qb’s some playing time !! and work on the next year team so we don’t be like this year with only one qb with game time !!

  25. Ipu Man August 18, 2016 4:25 pm

Hope Al’s #6 Cinderella story comes true.
    But this time, Cinderfella.
And his two step brothers aren’t bad looking qbs.
    🙂

  26. Abunai August 18, 2016 4:26 pm

I was hoping for a fresh start at qb and go with AZ or even DB. But I guess we will see what happens.

  27. Ipu Man August 18, 2016 4:26 pm

Anyone catch what the NFL announcers said about
the University of Hawaii in the Green Bay/Raiders game?
I think it had to do with a Green Bay running back/receiver
    from Cal.

  28. RoyGBivs August 18, 2016 4:29 pm

I no kea who the starts the game, this is a team sport, if dat person isn’t doing what dea suppose to do, YANK’um outta dea, try da next person cos all I would like at da end of the game is a W …. Just win!!

    Protect dis Hale
    Pride Rock Lives Hea

  29. NMwarrior August 18, 2016 4:57 pm

Congrats Ikaika…………. first play 80 yard td! Any news on Max Hendrie?

  30. steve P August 18, 2016 5:04 pm

Woolsey would not have been my choice, but I’m glad the choice has been made…and I support Rolo and the team 100% so there it is. Go Bows.

  31. What??? August 18, 2016 5:09 pm

In 2008 Alexander started against Florida, Inoke took job, beat Fresno, Alexander took job back. In 2009 when Alexander was injured some guy named Moniz took over.

  32. al August 18, 2016 5:46 pm

Hard for any of us to say who should’ve been the starter since nobody here observed every practice, scrimmage, nor meetings.

I am sure that the decision comes from the coaching staff.

    I trust them.

  33. 808warriorfan August 18, 2016 6:08 pm

Congratulations to Mr. Woolsey! I look forward to my season tickets.

  35. z August 18, 2016 6:19 pm

    I like this lineup.

  36. 3-Prong August 18, 2016 6:23 pm

It’s gettin’ real Sportsfans! Go Bows!

  37. H-Man August 18, 2016 7:17 pm

808, thanks, appreciate your effort to post the depth chart. Some surprises on the O-line

  38. Inyoface August 18, 2016 7:52 pm

I’m interested in what offensive formations we will see.

  39. islandman August 18, 2016 8:12 pm

Sports Animals said the ESPN TV announcers will not be in Australia doing the game. They will do it from Bristol or something.

  40. islandman August 18, 2016 8:16 pm

    or not in Sydney.

  41. Akamai Okole August 18, 2016 9:35 pm

Lots of familiar names at the top o’ the depth chart.

    …it is a long season.

  42. 808warriorfan August 18, 2016 9:40 pm

#34 … “H-Man” … most interesting, to me anyway, is the backup to Leo Koloamatangi at RG … ‘Bama transfer Chris Posa who reported on August 8th … for him to have moved up to backup since his arrival must show that he has talent. What people forget is even a 4th or 5th team player at ‘Bama was probably an All-this or All-that in High School. Then you have true Frosh Kingjames Taylor as a backup at RT. Interesting note is that true Frosh Keala Santiago & Kalakaua Timoteo are not listed but I’m sure will be seeing playing time … hopefully this is a sign of the depth on the team …

LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS !!!!!

  43. Rodney August 18, 2016 10:20 pm

Scrap the 4-3 defense go 3-4 man cover. Coach em up!!!!!
    Scrap the RPO offense
    Predict by mid season
AZ Qb and more play action
Please Rolo go with your instinct.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. hitmanhart August 18, 2016 11:32 pm

    40) rodney howz it going? why da 3-4 and not 4-3 defense ? last 3-4 was not that great all last year !!

  45. burro sabio August 19, 2016 12:31 am

Yes, change everything before even trying it during a game, that always works.

  46. Maddog50 August 19, 2016 1:55 am

Very interesting depth chart regarding OL……Hensley Posa and Taylor all in the mix. A couple of names missing are “tells” regarding future. For sure at least 2 or 3 are real close to making that group. The fact that Hendrie has yet to clear NCAA does not bode well…….hope I’m real real wrong. Now just waiting for game notes and of course “da game”. Go Warriors!!!!

  47. cappie the dog August 19, 2016 4:25 am

Sports Animals are skipping the game because they don’t want to face the strict Australian quarantine laws.

  48. H-Man August 19, 2016 6:46 am

808, yeah, these are nice surprises, especially Chris Posa. I too wondered about Keala Santiago and Kalakaua Timoteo, but not seeing their names just means the guys ahead are, well, ahead. Game against Cal may be one time that being on national TV will benefit the program.

  49. Shoko August 19, 2016 6:57 am

Cal leaving tomorrow via charter aircraft.

“The business class bar will be bereft of booze in favor of Gatorade and water. Standing areas and aisles will serve as ersatz yoga studios and jogging tracks. And right below the Bears’ seats will be eight tons of gear carefully tucked into a substitute for the tractor trailer Cal usually uses for road games.”

  50. Ipu Man August 19, 2016 7:21 am

Hope they all don’t catch any cabin fever…

  51. Ipu Man August 19, 2016 7:22 am

UH should make gauze face masks with the UH emblem
and have the whole team wear them on the airplane so
they don’t breath any bad bacteria/germs.

  52. Ipu Man August 19, 2016 7:23 am

So…will breakfast be dinner down under and visa versa?

  53. Ipu Man August 19, 2016 7:25 am

They say Australian oysters are great but tho they may
be grown in purer waters, team should avoid shell fish.

  54. Ipu Man August 19, 2016 7:27 am

Hope Rolo and coaches have time to recruit, too.
Should maybe have hired June Jones to do that
    for them…

  55. Tarheel Warrior August 19, 2016 7:35 am

I for one am glad the pieces are falling in together. Looking forward to a good season from the team. Go Warriors!!

  56. Inyoface August 19, 2016 8:07 am

#44 The defense was good last year, the offense on the other hand…

  57. islandman August 19, 2016 8:56 am

cappie … Curran was saying many dangerous creatures in Australia, such as snakes, crocodiles, Kangaroos, etc. The internet adds box jellyfish, honeybees, irukandji jellyfish, bull shark, Sydney funnel web spider, blue-ringed octopus; (snakes) eastern brown snake, coastal taipan, common death adder .

  58. Maddog50 August 19, 2016 9:20 am

    The Cane Toad!!!

  59. islandman August 19, 2016 9:33 am

” The long-term effects of toads on the Australian environment are difficult to determine, however some effects include “the depletion of native species that die eating cane toads; the poisoning of pets and humans; depletion of native fauna preyed on by cane toads; and reduced prey populations for native insectivores, such as skinks.”

  60. Maddog50 August 19, 2016 9:39 am

Watched a show on these guys-wild is one word! Have an Aussie friend/very close friend who lives here in Chicago. Deathly afraid of snakes spiders and gators when we golf in Fla. He knows what harm can come!!!

  61. islandman August 19, 2016 10:22 am

Maddog50 …Curran said he is not going to venture out too far due to the dangers. We in Hawaii are lucky with only flying roaches to scare the daylights out of us and recruits. But we have sharks, jelly fish and my wife got scared out her wits from a rare hawaiian snake.

  62. islandman August 19, 2016 10:47 am

centipedes, some spiders , hiking , waves , etc.

  63. 3-Prong August 19, 2016 10:51 am

Dangerous Critters? Ehh Miinah! Wait till da Hawaii Fans show up looking to Party!

    Cheeeeee!…GO BOWS!

  64. Maddog50 August 19, 2016 10:56 am

Islandman-heard that line from friends thru the years!!!

  65. H-Man August 19, 2016 11:12 am

No need worry about biting insects in Australia. I am used to it. I have in my back yard, many centipedes, some scorpions, three kinds of spiders and of course, 747 cockroaches. No snakes. Not many roaches now since I regularly spray a lot of poison, but cannot get rid of the centipedes. Been bit once on my hand. Really, really hurts.

  66. haka August 19, 2016 11:36 am

The least dangerous animal down under is a calbear!
    Put’em on da barbie mate!
    Go Warriors!
