Veikune prepares for OTAs

Former UH football player David Veikune leaves tomorrow for the Cleveland Browns’ seven weeks of organized team activities (OTAs). Veikune, who ran sprints at UH this morning, won’t return to Hawai‘i until July. It is at that time when most new contracts are finalized. The Browns will pay for Veikune’s expenses during the “volunteer” training session. Volleyball: interviews set for 5; 6-9 opposite commits

The five semifinalists for the UH volleyball coaching job will be interviewed Thursday via teleconference. Among the finalists, we’re told, are Tino Reyes, Charlie Wade, Mark Presho and Scott Wong. Sometimes the NCAA gets it right. Schools are allowed to start  athletic scholarships at the start of Summer Session I, giving recruits a jump-start on their studies. Not only do prospects have a chance to earn several college credits, they also can participate in the summer conditioning programs as early as late May.
