Rolovich, Shaw to call plays; today’s notes; Salas to chat

By Stephen Tsai on September 8, 2009

Assistant coaches Nick Rolovich and Gordy Shaw will call the offensive plays for the Warriors, UH head coach Greg McMackin said. McMackin said Ron Lee will remain as the offensive coordinator. But it was “mutually agreed” that Lee wanted to focus on the receivers. The Warriors have been without a receiver coach since graduate assistant Craig Stutzmann accepted a job at Portland State in July. “Ron Lee will always be my offensive coordinator,” McMackin said, noting Lee called the winning […]

He said his MRI results have been sent to a specialist. He also has a hamstring injury. By being on IR, Brennan is not allowed to play this season. But he remains on the roster, and receives $445,000, the minimum salary for a second-year player who entered the league […]

Thursday ramblings

By Stephen Tsai on September 3, 2009

• While Fetaiagogo Fonoti has declared himself physically fit for tomorrow’s season opener, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is held out of the game. He hasn’t had a full practice in more than a week — he did not attend yesterday’s practice because of a swelling in his left knee — and he is much needed for the ensuing two-game, 11-day road trip. Besides, Liko Satele has played well in recent practices. Fonoti most likely will be used […]
