Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Was noted on yesterday’s thread that Long’s final home match is Saturday. didn’t want to put it up until I talked to her first. Which is part of the reason she isn’t playing sand. Back in the gym for a 6 a.m. practice. Very cool this morning in Gym 1, pleasant compared to other steamier days with the humidity and occasional mosquito. Usual routine of drills and skills. Passi is no longer with the team, due to personal reasons. Official announcement from UH supposed to be by 6 p.m. She’ll have one more year but believe it has to be at DII since she’s used up her redshirt year.

Hawaii stays at No. 30 in the RPI for the fifth straight week. The Beach at 25. CSUN from 37 to 40 From the Big West Taylor was also nominated for Player of Week, which went to The Beach’s Okpala.
