  1. Broseph November 22, 2014 5:14 pm

Streaming cancelled? Got 1500 am on.

  2. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:19 pm

Cal Poly up 15-14 at the TTO. UH with four SEs already.

  3. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:20 pm

    2. does look like it got cancelled according to the website.

  4. Cruisecontrol November 22, 2014 5:21 pm

I’m watching the online stream now, but no audio. I logged on earlier and was able to get in. Momentarily said that the video was cancelled due to internet issues and only audio was available, but the video came back on and has stayed on so far. Checked back in the links, which say that the video has been cancelled, so I guess I had better just keep my stream going as long as possible.

  5. woop woop November 22, 2014 5:25 pm

I have video too. no sound

  6. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:26 pm

Cal Poly on a 3-0 run. Up 19-16. TO UH

  7. Cruisecontrol November 22, 2014 5:30 pm

Sheesh, what is happening to this Wahine team?

  8. Broseph November 22, 2014 5:32 pm

    CalPoly takes set 1. 25-21

  9. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:33 pm

    7. well, UH played last night, hard fought 5-setter. Cal Poly hasn’t played in a week. a very unfair schedule all season. Plus 4 SEs didn’t help. that was the margin of Cal Poly’s win.

  10. WaWa November 22, 2014 5:33 pm

How are you guys getting video? It still says the broadcast is cancelled?

  11. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:33 pm

    8. thanks was just about to fix that. Gametracker was off initially

  12. Cruisecontrol November 22, 2014 5:34 pm

I guess the video is still active, but maybe they cancelled access to it for some reason?

  13. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:35 pm

    12. Don’t know. All I saw was a line through the schedule on bigwest.tv

  14. Cruisecontrol November 22, 2014 5:39 pm

Well, the video is getting kinda jerky, at least for me, so maybe those internet issues are catching up to it.

  15. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:50 pm

listening on internet radio and the connection not great either.

  16. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:52 pm

Hawaii up 15-14 at the TTO.

  17. warriorfan November 22, 2014 5:55 pm

Much better play in second set, but this team does not look ready for post season play at all.

  18. Cruisecontrol November 22, 2014 5:57 pm

Gotta leave for a football viewing party. Wish I could hand my video feed off to someone else, lol. Go Wahine!

  19. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 5:58 pm

Taylor with a nice serving run, has UH up 19-14. TO Cal Poly
    It’s now 21-17

  20. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 6:03 pm

Cal Poly has closed to 22-21. TO UH.

  21. warriorfan November 22, 2014 6:03 pm

Not good, Olevao is just not playing well this weekend at all. Try long.

  22. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 6:07 pm

UH wins 25-22. Kill by Magill ends it.

  23. warriorfan November 22, 2014 6:16 pm

Glad UH pulled off set 2, hope they win this in 4
, gonna watch Redondo Union now. First impressions, Iosia is definitely close to 6 feet tall and her hands are smooth. Redondo also has a very good athletic middle named Kristen Hamlin, She will be very good in college IMO, I wonder where she is headed?

  24. warriorfan November 22, 2014 6:18 pm

Wow Iosia’s bump sets on ugly passes are amazing.

  25. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 6:24 pm

Cal Poly goes up 1-0. UH scores 10 straight. 6 blocks. it’s 10-1 TO Cal Poly, their second during this run. Mendoza holding serve

  26. WaWa November 22, 2014 6:25 pm

    Is the Redondo match online?

  27. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 6:31 pm

Hawaii running away at 20-9 Cal Poly has no TOs, they burned those in the first 11 points.

  28. warriorfan November 22, 2014 6:33 pm

    26. fox prime ticket, its channel 1228 on oceanic.

  29. warriorfan November 22, 2014 6:34 pm

real happy UH is pulling away.

  30. Maverick November 22, 2014 6:35 pm

    26. I’m in Vegas and the match is televised on prime ticket/fox sports

  31. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 6:37 pm

Hawaii wins 25-12. They had 10 blocks when taking a 19-6 lead. they end the set on their 11th block of the set.

  32. warriorfan November 22, 2014 6:38 pm

    30. I’m really impressed with what I see. She had a few missets late in set 1, but her bump sets on off passes are KK good.

  33. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 6:44 pm

UH up early 6-2 in Set 4.

  34. Maverick November 22, 2014 6:48 pm

    32. She’s got talent although it is often difficult to predict how high school talent will translate to ncaa division I. But you can tell why she’s gotten rave reviews.

  35. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 6:51 pm

Hmmm, it was 9-3. Now 9-7. TO UH.

  36. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 6:56 pm

UH up 17-9. Taylor 1 dig away from a triple double. 10 kills, 10 blocks, 9 digs

  37. Maverick November 22, 2014 6:58 pm

    Nikki has her triple double!

  38. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 7:01 pm

UH up 21-14. Taylor has a triple double 10 kills, 10 blocks, 10 digs.

  39. Maverick November 22, 2014 7:01 pm

    32. Alyce Ford has a live arm. And Iosia has a decent jump serve.

  40. Ki November 22, 2014 7:01 pm

On the live stats, Keani Passi is lasted as seeing court time tonight. Is that an error? Or did she make the trip?

  41. Big Island VB fan November 22, 2014 7:02 pm

So Nikki Taylor has ten blocks from one block solo and nine block assists. Doesn’t a block assist count as half a block when adding up points? Please explain how block stats work here.

  42. warriorfan November 22, 2014 7:03 pm

Alyce Ford would be perfect in a fast offense. uSC is so wrong for her.

  43. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 7:04 pm

    Hawaii wins 25-16.

  44. Maverick November 22, 2014 7:05 pm

    42. Agreed. But some players want to play at the biggest name schools. We will see if she sticks…USC has a lot of tall hitters

  45. surfboy November 22, 2014 7:06 pm

Kalei Adolpho was in beast mode tonight…..she has been the MOST consistent player for Hawaii from mid season by far.

  46. Maverick November 22, 2014 7:07 pm

Yesterday, Nikki and kalei had huge games and our middles did ok. Tonight was the opposite. Just shows you match ups and strategy really matter.

  47. warriorfan November 22, 2014 7:08 pm

great that the wahine dominated the 3rd and 4th.

  48. Ki November 22, 2014 7:11 pm

A Block Assist is considered HALF A BLOCK for TEAM STATS (because a Block Assist is achieved by more than one blocker). But for INDIVIDUAL STATS a block achieved by an individual player, whether solo or assisted, is considered ONE BLOCK .

  49. Big Island VB fan November 22, 2014 7:51 pm

Thanks, Ki (#48) for explaining. Still, aren’t TEAM STATS compiled by adding INDIVIDUAL STATS? I know that in the USA Team, a block assist is considered half a block even in individual stats. That’s why I get confused.

  50. warriorfan November 22, 2014 7:54 pm

Love that solo stuff of Ford by Iosia, Hope we see of a lot of that in the future.

  51. warriorfan November 22, 2014 7:56 pm

Megan Rice is a nice pick up for the dink queens. I think we will hear a lot of her in the future against the wahine.

  52. warriorfan November 22, 2014 8:23 pm

Iosia to Ghani is a great connection. I wish Glani picked UH instead of Texas.

  53. kryon November 22, 2014 8:49 pm

Hi Cindy, why is it so difficult to find out about recruits or recruiting news for wahine volleyball and all teams? Its harder to get info on this topic then it is on some top secret on area 51. I just don’t understand why.

  54. Ron November 22, 2014 9:19 pm

Iosia was a good as advertised. The middles will love her and she gives the outside hitters space to hit. She also has a wicked serve. Also agree with WF on his comments about the other players that we watched.

  55. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 9:42 pm

    53. don’t know what you mean. I had stories about all 3 Wahine signings.
If you’re discussing UH releasing the info, mentioned earlier this week that Shoji said they’d do it Monday when they got back from the trip. He wanted to do all three in one release. Castillo’s info got faxed in late Wednesday afternoon with the team leaving a few hours later.

  56. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 9:43 pm

    48. thanks for getting to that first. Have a desk shift tonight plus the Wahine VB rewrite.
Taylor’s triple-double is the first in program history during the rally scoring era.

  57. OrbitalRipZ November 22, 2014 9:46 pm

Here is the listing of UH’s NONCONFERENCE OPPONENTS, their match results since the last NCAA RPI was released (Nov. 17) up to Saturday (Nov. 22), and the probable outcome of their NCAA Championship tournament aspirations:
    __________
ARIZONA STATE (18-11, 8-9 Pac-12, rpi 36) won in 5 sets over a weak Washington St. (Nov. 21). FYI: 8 of ASU’s last 10 matches have gone to the deciding 5th set.

Remaining Matches: Nov. 23 @ Washington … Nov. 26 vs. UCLA …. Nov. 28 vs. Arizona

At-large bid: “Bubble” … League -record 9 squads won bids last year, and I am thinking 8 or 9 this year for the Pac-12. ASU’s case for an at-large bid rests on the results of its 3 remaining matches against higher-ranked Pac-12ers.
    __________
NEW MEXICO (18-12, 10-7 MWC, rpi 63) lost in 5 sets to Fresno St. (Nov. 21).

Remaining Matches: Nov. 25 vs Air Force

    At-large bid: No chance
    __________
NORTHERN ARIZONA (21-8, 12-6 Big Sky, rpi 128) was the 5th seed at this week’s Big Sky Tournament. Quarterfinals: Beat 4th seed Idaho (Nov. 20). Semis: Lost to 1st seed Idaho State (Nov. 21). FYI: Idaho St (23-8) won last year’s league crown, although many expected NAU to give Idaho St a run for the money.

    Remaining Matches: None

    At-large bid: No chance
    __________
OHIO (23-4, 16-0 MAC, rpi 39) is the 1st seed at the Mid-American Conference Championship tournament for the NCAA automatic bid (Nov. 23-24).

Remaining Matches: Nov. 23 (@ home) 1st seed vs TBA in Semis … Nov. 24 (@ home) MAC Championship Final (if Ohio wins its Semis) … Nov. 28 @ Dayton

At-large bid: AQ if it wins the MAC Championship; otherwise, “Bubble”
    __________
OREGON (19-7, 9-7 Pac-12, rpi 8) swept the Bruins (Nov. 21). Big Mo on the side of the Ducks.

    Remaining Matches: Nov. 23 vs. USC … Nov. 25 @ Utah … Nov. 28 @ Oregon St

    At-large bid: Solid chance
    __________
SAN DIEGO STATE (14-14, 9-8 MWC, rpi 141) lost to Boise St. (Nov. 19) but swept Utah St (Nov. 22).

Remaining Matches: Nov. 25 @ UNLV

    At-large bid: No chance
    __________
SAN FRANCISCO (12-17, 5-12 WCC, rpi 138), 9th in the 10-team WCC Standings, was ‘broom’ed by Santa Clara (Nov. 20).

Remaining Matches: Nov. 25 vs. Pacific

At-large bid: No chance … FYI: As I mentioned before, the UH scheduler had the right idea in choosing a WCC team for a preconference match, but who would have known that this would be the year the Dons stinked, stank, stunk!. O Mister Grinch!
    __________
ST. JOHN’s (19-14, 8-10 Big East., rpi 140) was swept by Xavier (Nov. 21) and smashed in 5 sets by Butler (Nov. 22). Guess the Red Storm took too many red-eye flights, as the squad failed to qualify for the Big East Tournament (Nov. 28-29) for the AQ.

    Remaining Matches: 0

    At-large bid: No chance
    __________
UCLA (19-10, 10-8 Pac-12, rpi 17) was swept by Oregon though the 3rd set went 31-33 (Nov. 21) but rebounded 3-1 over Oregon St (Nov. 22).

Remaining Matches: Nov. 26 @ Arizona St … Nov. 28 vs. USC

    At-large bid: Solid chance
    __________
UTAH STATE (12-16, 8-9 MWC, rpi 155) was swept by UNLV (Nov 19) and again by San Diego St (Nov 22).

Remaining Matches: Nov. 25 @ Boise St

    At-large bid: No chance

  58. warriorfan November 22, 2014 9:56 pm

Hope they release shoji’s statements on all three, and what he expects of them. Love reading that. Upset the men’s announcement did not include Wade’s comments on his 6 new recruits.

  59. warriorfan November 22, 2014 10:19 pm

    54. Iosia looked about the same height as the Redondo middles who are listed at 6 feet so it’s nice to know she’s legit 5′ 10/5′ 11 and although Alyce Ford with her 40 inch vertical got lots of kills, Iosia put up a good block on her so she won’t be a blocking liability up front.
Iosia sets look smooth and have a good pace, some of her sets to Yaasmeen Bedart Ghani were just money and had hit me written all over them. Plus on bad passes she ran them down and put up absolutely beautiful bump sets to her hitters, and she’s just a junior in HS.!!!

She was far better than the setter for Mater Dei, who is a senior and going to Stanford. I am excited to see Iosia’s progress, when she gets stronger and fitter, her potential is limitless.

  60. kryon November 22, 2014 10:31 pm

Hi Cindy, no what I mean is if you go to ESPN, you can find recruiting on most sports or at least some info. For women’s volleyball there is very very little. No recruiting section, teams signings, etc. Even on the web its really hard. No page with all schools to see what they got going on. Football you find out who the team may be looking at in 2017. Just wondering why its so difficult. Especially for Hawaii where women’s vball is so big, wouldn’t you think there would be more access to info? Why not our university website duplicate ESPN recruiting so we could see who we are targeting in recruiting for all sports. Make it a 3 year span. This way us fans can see and research prospects. Build excitement.

  61. jmy November 22, 2014 10:43 pm

Does CSUN get an at-large if they win out?

  62. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 11:41 pm

    60. I guess because ESPN doesn ‘t care that much about women’s volleyball? And very few places care about women’s volleyball outside of Hawaii.
when you ask ‘why not our university website duplicate ESPN recruiting info, UH cannot mention recruits until they sign. That is an NCAA rule.
There are websites out there dedicated to women’s volleyball, some free, some not. RichKern.com for one. MaxPreps another. Sometimes the ‘announcement’ is done by the junior club but nothing official until a player signs an NLI.

  63. Cindy Luis November 22, 2014 11:46 pm

    61. Good question. coming into this week, CSUN’s RPI at 37.
much depends on how many of the automatic bids have teams in the top 64. there are 32 autos, 32 at-large. The Pac-12 has nine in the Top 40. My guess is the committee would look at the ninth Pac-12 team over a third Big West. but you never know.

  64. LC November 23, 2014 4:42 am

Glad to read that I wasn’t the only one frustrated with trying to follow this match.

  65. Ron November 23, 2014 7:44 am

I prefer to listen to Tiff on the radio rather than to try and make sense of the internet feeds. He really does give a complete description of the action plus interesting side comments. I feel like I am there.

  66. 'ohanaInBellingham November 23, 2014 8:36 am

I sure would like to know what Scott Wong said to the middles and Nikki during the intermission to transform the blocking game. It gives me hope that UH can win out on Senior weekend.

  67. islandman November 23, 2014 9:53 am

    40. — Did Passi make the trip ? Looks like Huff was the only one who didn’t play, per the box score yesterday ?

  68. hatakeman November 23, 2014 10:25 am

Yeah, how come Huff didn’t see playing time?

  69. Cindy Luis November 23, 2014 2:13 pm

    65. I’ll pass along the kind words. thought he sounded pretty good. but my connection kept going out while I was at the office.
    66. all Shoji told me was the made some blocking adjustments. Maglio was able to help with that. His cell connection was pretty bad too so I wasn’t able to get much info. perhaps that was the problem with GT and BWTV and radio connection.
    40. 67. No Passi did not make the trip. Gametracker usually puts up the entire roster. And sometimes they give people playing time that didn’t get in.
    Huff did not play.

  70. hatakeman November 23, 2014 4:58 pm

The Hawaii Athletics site, Women’s Volleyball, Schedule/Results’ Box Score lists No. 3 Keani Passi as having played in one set. Maybe they got the number wrong. Should have been No. 5 instead.

  71. jmy November 23, 2014 5:13 pm

Iowa St. & Minnesota look like “bubble” teams…Do they make it in because they’re hosting? How deep will the committee go in the Pac-12? Does Utah make it in?

  72. Cindy Luis November 23, 2014 6:10 pm

    70. the box will be updated. It was noticed last night and CP sent UH the revised box earlier today. No. 5 (Huff) did not play in either match.

  73. tongo November 23, 2014 6:32 pm

Was not at Cal Poly match but was at the UCSB match. My wife pointed out that Nikiki Taylor was starting to hold/rub her right arm/elbow in the latter part of that match. It may have contributed to the poor hitting percent last night in spite of her triple double. Hope she is okay.

  74. Cindy Luis November 23, 2014 6:35 pm

She should be fine. The trainer is on it with the post match treatments and continued monitoring. She took a lot of swings in the two matches and ended up blocking more than she’s had to. Just how the opponents lined up.

  75. Cubicle1126 November 23, 2014 11:39 pm

taylor rubbing her elbow isn’t a new thing … she’s been doing that at times during the course of a match since the brace came off.

  76. wildcard November 24, 2014 11:57 pm

    if this ever gets restored
