Cindy Luis covers University of Hawaii volleyball for the Star-Advertiser. She began her career as a sports journalist in Hawaii in 1981 with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and was the sports editor, assistant sports editor, columnist and beat writer during a 31-year span before the paper became the Star-Advertiser. She graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Studies.

Brrr. a little snow on the ground but a beautiful day otherwise. Team had a 630 p.m. practice in the upper gym, part of the “Hec Ed” Alaska Airlines Arena. First time I’d been in the arena. Will the NCAA be kind to UH this year, make it a one-flight trip? Thinking Stanford and Washington both get top 4 seeds, which means Stanford will host but gets sent out of the region with the NCAA protecting UW as a regional host. If they decide to stay regional then Texas is in the Iowa State regional, Florida State to Louisville and Stanford to Minnesota. But what to do with Wisconsin.
