gym

gym 2

Brrr. a little snow on the ground but a beautiful day otherwise.

Team had a 630 p.m. practice in the upper gym, part of the “Hec Ed” Alaska Airlines Arena.

First time I’d been in the arena. Very cool. You see the old architecture blended with the new.

players had rested most of the afternoon. looked well-rested and well-bundled up for practice.

maybe try video tomorrow.

As for the last thread, some of you might notice posts have been deleted. the bickering has gotten out of hand and doesn’t belong here.

go to Volleytalk if you want to do that.

Aloha Cindy do we know for sure yet if OC 16 will broadcast Friday’s game live?

  2. Cindy Luis December 3, 2014 7:21 pm

they are doing a live broadcast 3 pm HST.

  3. Cruisecontrol December 3, 2014 7:34 pm

    Thanks for the update, Cindy!

  4. Big Island VB fan December 3, 2014 7:36 pm

Will the live broadcast be available online? I checked the Big West website and they mistakenly listed the match to be played on Thursday at 5 PM Pacific time with no online broadcast. Also in checking the Washington website, PAC12 sports will broadcast Saturday’s subregional final no matter who plays. I was surprised that OC Sports would travel so far for only one single match regardless of whether Hawaii wins or not.

  5. Cruisecontrol December 3, 2014 8:16 pm

Friday’s Hawaii – Duke match is airing live online on ESPN3.

  6. oldtimer808 December 3, 2014 8:27 pm

OC16 camera people know how to video volleyball games. ESPN not very good.

  7. kauaiboi58 December 3, 2014 8:57 pm

Aloha Cindy I’m from the beautiful island of Kauai & we are BIG UH WAHINE FANS!!! I just want to make sure I’m understanding you because on here & VT every one keeps on saying it’s going to be playing on ESPN3 but we do not have that channel here on Kauai. My question to you again & I am so sorry to sound like a Robot. Is OC16 showing Friday’s game live on channel 16 so that we on Kauai can watch it live? I thank you for all you positive comments & always keeping us updated, people in Hawaii should have more faith in our team & support them instead of making things worse for them & feeding them negative comments or vibes. We all knew this year was going to be a challenging year but look, they got in the tournament without winning their conference so be happy for them all you negative people. Life is to short so please pray, encourage & send good vibes to our UH WAHINE girls please. Mahalo Nui LOa.

    #7,

Cindy answered your question the first time you inquired. See #2. Enjoy watching the game and cheering for our girls.

  9. LC December 3, 2014 9:58 pm

Yes it is on OC 16 live at 3pm. ESPN 3 is a live feed over the Internet .

  10. kauaiboi58 December 3, 2014 10:09 pm

MAHALO NUI! #8 & #9 I greatly appreciate your responses! Lets go bows!!!

  11. wildcard December 3, 2014 11:23 pm

so i guess you have two choices? ocsports (no channel specified) or espn3. im supposing ocsports does not exist for round 2 unless hawai’i wins to it beating duke.

from what that character debbie (stadick) kniffin had to say on avca (of course her words and performance when she was a player aint worthy), she said that she predicts duke would win in 4. only last sentence for her reasoning is true that hawai’i is just too volatile this season…in fact hawai’i is so volatile that na wahine is explosive. this can be set to detonate and blow duke away, then bring washington to its knees

    10. ESPN3 on the internet will query you for your cable provider… then
pick TimeWarner if you have Oceanic cable. It will then ask you for your login/password that you have with your cable provider. After that you’re home free.

  13. Kazu December 4, 2014 5:49 am

For all matches being shown live google NCAATV Broadcast Schedule.

  14. Frings December 4, 2014 6:14 am

Greetings all from Western Washington state! This is one expatriot Wahine v-ball fan that will be heading north on I-5 to Seattle to watch the girls take it to Duke. One at a time ladies!

  15. Pot-of-Gold December 4, 2014 6:37 am

Have made the proper arrangements and will be in attendance cheering on the Wahine. Looking forward to a couple of games this weekend to cheer at. It will be interesting to see if there are anymore adjustments for new opposition.

  16. Cindy Luis December 4, 2014 8:16 am

UW is streaming its matches. gohuskies.com

  17. Cindy Luis December 4, 2014 8:17 am

  18. Cindy Luis December 4, 2014 8:19 am

  19. Cindy Luis December 4, 2014 8:20 am

    1. and all other questions about TV

    YES YES YES

but if you still need to ask, perhaps you should contact Oceanic since I don’t work for them.

  20. LanaiBoy December 4, 2014 8:22 am

#4. E-mailed the Big West site administrators, pointing out the wrong date for the Duke/Hawaii match and the fact that both OC 16 and ESPN3 will be providing coverage for the match. I got a quick response saying that they are planning to correct the date and update the TV/Video listings. However, I was a bit confused when they said they plan to update it by and for Saturday (?).

  21. Cindy Luis December 4, 2014 8:24 am

    20. I don’t know. Guess you have to ask them again.

  22. vballfreak808 December 4, 2014 9:21 am

    11. Yes if Hawaii makes it to the second round, OCSports is not available. Pac-12 Networks will take over if Washington is playing.

  23. Cruisecontrol December 4, 2014 9:23 am

    11. Thanks Wildcard, for mentioning that. I checked it out on the AVCA site, and Stadick seems to have very little regard for Na Wahine:

“Hawai’i is not the team they have been the past few seasons. I’m honestly a little shocked they made the field of 64. Duke is athletic, driven and straight up good this season. They’ve got a few athletes that can take over, and that’s exactly what I expect to happen. Hawai’i might surprise me and challenge them a bit, but I don’t think it’s likely. They’re just too volatile this season.”

She’s entitled to her opinion, but I hope Na Wahine make her eat her words.

  24. Cindy Luis December 4, 2014 11:00 am

    23. not a bad assessment overall except for she was surprised about them making it in. based on all the criteria we know, it was never in doubt.
Hawaii has been up and down. She obviously was unaware of Taylor’s injury which did affect the team early.
    Odd choice of word volatile.
In the end, do her comments really matter?

  25. KaimukiWahine December 4, 2014 11:14 am

I just want to tell na Wahine, “Go for IT!!!!!” Focus and play your hearts out. This is the best time to peak. All of you that write regularly with negative comments, you need to show your support and NOT bring in negativity while our Wahine are in the playoffs. GO BOWS!!!!!

  26. Cubicle1126 December 4, 2014 12:58 pm

eh, the AVCA blogger’s comments are on par with many hawaii fans’ comments this season. some fans have been more brutal in their assessment.

no pressure on this year’s wahine. just play loose and go for broke …

  27. Cindy Luis December 4, 2014 2:15 pm

    26. true cubi, and some of the harsher ones were deleted because it got very personal and poor tasted. Happy for my filters that catch some of the ugliness.

We said from the very beginning there would be growing pains. It’s a young team. All you have to do is look at the box from 2 years ago. Of the Wahine who played, only 3 got in against the Huskies in 2012 and only Adolpho played in all five sets. and only two others left over from that team in Long and Manu-Olevao.

When you look at the losses, the only bad ones were against ASU and CSUN. The others were winnable. And in two cases, had Hawaii managed to hang on and win Set 1 against UCLA and Long Beach State (the second time) might have been different outcomes.

  28. wildcard December 4, 2014 4:11 pm

    24. nah just a clueless assessment other than hawai’i being volatile. odd choice is right, but that word is accurate. not to her blogging of course. her words dont mean jack crack.

na wahine is volatile and that makes them dangerous to duke and washington. washington is likely growing soft having getting to host and with the regional. hawai’i is the #6 blocking team in the nation just like byu last year and has the best service ace per set in the conference. all we need is mendoza and any other libero to roam for every ball to dig and that means sarah bear needs to be faster.
