Mei Ling wins

Mei Ling gets the tickets to tomorrow night’s basketball game. I’ll buy Koakane beer for being a good sport.

* * *

Sorry for the delay, but we went to see the James Bond movie last night. OK, not sure if it’s only me — OK, probably is only me — but Daniel Craig just doesn’t seem like James Bond. And where are the gadgets?

* * *

UH’s calendar will be like The Advertiser’s on-line clock. Tomorrow, the Warriors will have a Tuesday-like practice (8 a.m.-9 a.m.). Tuesday’s practice will be a Wednesday-like practice (7 a.m.-9 a.m.).
I believe Victor Clore returns.
We’ll see about Blaze Soares.

interesting side take so what is your thoughts on this.

last night attended a good friends party. he planned to celebrate finally paying off his mortgage. was a great party with fuuuud, fun, family just like tgate. but one part of the evening came around where he gathered everyone to witness the burning of his mortage. was funny but latter the conversation turned to where this tradition began and was it smart to do it. did he need it as proof or certification for someting? anyway its done but I was curious what the tsaiko know about this tradition? something to chat about over kofe.

    morning hoohiki and pono

  17. LizKauai [iMac] BELIEVER November 16, 2008 9:31 am

ST- Connery was the best. But Craig is the millennia Bond. We watched Casino Royale yesterday to prep for Solace.

Craig is a wonderful, versatile actor- he got way under my skin of comfort in Infamous. I love him as Bond.

  18. LizKauai [iMac] BELIEVER November 16, 2008 9:33 am

  19. myki November 16, 2008 9:34 am

Good morning to all!! Congratulations to jm2375 on winning the tickets. I don’t think there are too many excuses available. Oh I forgot, I guess sleep will be the most important one, since the game will be on from 11 till about 1:30 a.m. Some of us Tsai-kos are planning to attend. Some of us have no excuse since we don’t work.

Hope to see you all either at todays or tomorrows game.

    Have a great day!

    HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!

  22. d1島 November 16, 2008 9:40 am

I guess it’s a good idea to burn a copy of your mortgage.
And make sure you don’t burn down your house at the same time!

When your loan is paid in full, your lender will return your original mortgage and note, along with a document known as a “satisfaction of mortgages.”

The satisfaction is much like the notice automobile lenders stamp on the auto titles they return when your car loan is paid off. The only difference is that although the lender’s rubber-stamp statement is proof enough for most state governments that the car lien has been satisfied, a satisfaction of mortgage is a legal document that should be filed at the county courthouse.

Otherwise, title companies will be unable to verify that your mortgage has been paid off. And if they can’t do that, they won’t issue a clear title when you try to sell the place.

  23. brew808 November 16, 2008 9:40 am

    kope…. fresh, strong, … black!

  36. Stretch November 16, 2008 9:52 am

    Good Morning Tsaikos!!

More beauty rest is not going to help me so I plan on being at the game tomorrow night. Only bad thing is that I will not watch MNF, I’ll come home and take a nap instead. BTW – anyone know if they are going to be selling beer??

  37. brew808 November 16, 2008 9:53 am

    For entertainment purposes only….

Does anyone know the line on the huge championship battle between DPK, aka “Tim the Terror”, versus las vegas, aka “Super Shaka Sumotori” scheduled for Feb? 🙄 😯 😆

  38. jm2375 November 16, 2008 9:54 am

Curveball – he’s so cute and looks like an angel! 😀

ST – best bond is Sean Connery, followed by Pierce Brosnan. Just don’t ask either of them to sing.

  80. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 10:56 am

The game is at 11 p.m.
What kind of work does DPK do at 11 p.m.?

  81. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 10:56 am

Well, if anybody wants the tickets, just let me know.

  82. brew808 November 16, 2008 10:57 am

  83. Da Punchbowl Kid November 16, 2008 11:00 am

Hey, I just got off the phone with Rich.

Rest assured, his house hasn’t been affected by one of the many fires raging in Cali right now. He asked about Ronnie folks though.

Rich’s place is about 7 or 8 miles from the nearest fire and he thinks they’ll be okay.

Keep the prayers coming for he, Ronnie and the Docs.

  84. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 11:03 am

OK, Koakane gets the tickets. I forgot he was next in line. I was distracted by DPK’s whining.

  85. Da Punchbowl Kid November 16, 2008 11:03 am

What game are you talking about, Tsai? Isn’t it the BBall game at 5 PM today?

The only work I do at 11PM is workin’ hard at tryin’ not to fall asleep before the end of Letterman of Leno.

  86. Da Punchbowl Kid November 16, 2008 11:06 am

We now have the new term DPK means spittle, bluster, but no delivery….

  87. brew808 November 16, 2008 11:06 am

    No – #2 wussed out too! 😆

Yeah – I’m worried about Ronnie & her boys – the YL fire was right in her neighborhood and she hasn’t posted since last night… 😕 😯 😕

  88. Stretch November 16, 2008 11:07 am

    * * *
OK, we’re giving away two more tickets, this time to Monday’s late game. These are just general admission seats. Anyway, everyone who posts through 5 p.m. today is automatically entered in the drawing. Winning name will be announced this evening.
    * * *

DPK = all mouth W/ excuses

  89. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 11:09 am

It’s nationally televised, so DPK could have held up a sign saying: Buy my book.
Oh, wait, didn’t we have a blogger who used to do that?

  90. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 11:10 am

Yes, the game is TOMORROW at 11 P.M.

  91. brew808 November 16, 2008 11:11 am

Hey – I didn’t see. Does Samson snap on PAT’s too? Looks like the ‘phins will beat daaaaaa Raidaaaaas, 17-15! YEAH! 😀 😯 😆

  92. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 11:13 am

Anyway, I’ve got to run — literally — so I’ll be back in about an hour.
Unless I pass out in front of the A-House house.
So, DPK and Koakane can work out who gets the prize.

  93. Stretch November 16, 2008 11:14 am

  96. brew808 November 16, 2008 11:19 am

It looks like lovely weather in Pittsburg. 😯 😆 🙄

  97. Stretch November 16, 2008 11:22 am

brew – I was just wondering but don’t think I will be drinking at 11pm if I have to wake up at 4am for work.

  98. A-House November 16, 2008 11:27 am

OK gang, just looked outside and ST is no where in sight which means that he did run past our house and down the hill to his house and points beyond.

ST, that’s a tough hill to run up. First time I did that I thought I was going to pass out!

  99. koakane™ November 16, 2008 11:27 am

  106. MeiLing November 16, 2008 11:39 am

    ST ~

I’ll take a ticket cuz I was planning to go to the game. But how do I get them from you? I thot it was a free game anyway… Was I just dreamin’? I’ll check the website. I’m “going places” today, so need to know if I got da tix. Mahalo nui loa if so….

    curveball,

Cute kiddo! Maybe he’ll grow up to be a left-handed pitcher.

  107. brew808 November 16, 2008 11:42 am

Thank goodness as MeiLing comes to the rescue…. 😀

  108. MeiLing November 16, 2008 11:45 am

    ST ~

Oh, I figahed it out…Monday’s game is free for UH students. That’s how it should be. K, I’ll take the tix if no one else wants ’em. I drink kope with half ‘n half and will stay up for the game. You know, in China, they don’t have half ‘n half at Starbucks, but they do have complimentary soy milk instead.

  109. Addahknowsports© November 16, 2008 11:45 am

Throw in a pot of fresh black kope with the tix and seal the deal.

  110. Addahknowsports© November 16, 2008 11:48 am

    MeiLing-
If you get the tix, your name will be headlining the blog.

  111. BG November 16, 2008 11:49 am

Aloha to all the Tsaiko brothers and sisters!

Still hoping for the best for Ronnie’s house…good to know she’s safe in Orange? County.

Was talking to a buddy in Alaska this morning and he mentioned that his class reunion was being planned for the UNLV game next year. I asked him for the organizers’ email so we could contact them to see if they wanted to join us at the tailgate and game. When I hung up, I realized there was a certain irony in talking to someone in Alaska about a Big Island (where has BHF2 been?) reunion that’s taking place in Las Vegas.
BTW, I think he mentioned that the organizer was the guy who runs the beef jerky place next to the Fremont.

My friend also told me that he was having difficulty sending salmon back to Hawaii (my ears immediately snapped to attention) what with the economy, restructuring of airlines, and what-not. I told him that I’d look into jumping on a C-17 to go pick up the fish…for a small fee, of course! Can you say, “More lomi salmon please, Mr Kekoa!”.

    Hey! Bruddah Koakane!

When you get back from getting gassed at Costco (yuk yuk), read this post and know that your Cincy tix are safely in hand.

  114. MeiLing November 16, 2008 12:01 pm

Kona kope, UH football, basketball, volleyball, hula, da six F’s…what more could you ask for…

Great to meet Bulla & Lyn last night. IWWTHM has a wonderful voice; smooth sounds, guy. Keep croonin’ to your honey, Midnight. SteveM, thanks for organizing.

ST ~ I’ll send you an email. Gonna go to the basketball game this afternoon.

  115. MeiLing November 16, 2008 12:08 pm

    brew808,

That thot crossed my mind, too, since I was there in 2007 before the story broke this year. Yuck! I used to make my own soymilk & tofu in the Ozarks, but I think I have a ready supply here in Hawai’i nei. Buy local!

    K, Esme & out… Hmmmm… I’ll call ST.

Davonne Bess had a pretty good game for the Dolphins today. He had the second most receptions and the MOST receiving yards for the Dolphins today. He also had the longest reception of the day for Miami.

  117. wafan November 16, 2008 12:26 pm

Just got back from eating and getting gas (HA!) at Costco. Price is down to $2.09/gal. I figure below $2 in a couple of weeks. Figure it will be back about $4 by next summer. Too strange.

  118. wafan November 16, 2008 12:35 pm

Looks like the SeaFlounders are keeping their tradition of mediocrity alive.

Something to think about. All those “fans” who say the Warriors are bad and do not score enough, and whatever else they “know” might want to consider this. Should the SeaFlounders not score in their game, the combined score for the UW, WSU and the SeaFlounders is only SEVEN more points than the Warriors who did not even play this weekend.

Now, how bad are the Warriors?

  119. Ralph November 16, 2008 12:43 pm

Besides, the tix are going to the very worthy Mei Ling. Alls well that ends well. 😉

  121. SteveM November 16, 2008 12:51 pm

    Whoa…the sun’s out. Good morning (?) everyone…

Gotta review my pix of last night to see if I have anything suitable. But we definitely reached a new Karaoke plateau. I think we have all been to places with no dance floor where the band/entertainers are so “rocking and enthralling”, people are dancing in the aisles…usually those young 25-35 year olds.

Not only did we raise the dancing age average considerably, we were the ones doing the entertainment too. Impressive singers we got!

…and if you think Bulla was rockin’ last night, wait till I talk to Mrs. Bulla about planning his karaoke birthday party… 😛 😆

The Japanese singers who joined us (Genji regulars) were pretty good and the waitress was excellent, but James and I are were nodding, “Wait until las vegas gets here”… 🙂

Secret’s out… Bulla is actually a baritone and a good one. Iwonderwhytheyhateme is very good and bilingual. Midnight showed more of his excellent repertoire. Welcome new karaoke Tsai-kos Russ and Pam! Whew, mix those two and the Bulla’s together and the you see the definition of “rockin” !

  122. mike November 16, 2008 12:52 pm

Liz, jm, and Tom are right: Connery is the best Bond, suave but tough. The others were suave but, eh, not so tough. I’m still waiting for Uma Thurman to squeeze into that catsuit for another Avengers remake.

Geez, six days until the next game. Feels like I haven’t seen them in months…

  123. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 12:59 pm

Mei Ling is the final, final winner of the tickets.

So sorry about missing last night. But I was sleeping through a Bond movie. Yes, yes. I admit it. I’m an old fut who actually fell asleep watching it, and it was the 8:45 showing. But I have two excuses: 1) We were in the third row, and Ward has really comfortable reclining seats. 2) I’m an old fut.

  124. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 1:01 pm

    Mike:
Don’t forget basketball practice is at 2 p.m. It’s going to run for a couple of hours. The varsity coaches stole our two best post players, so we’re going to have to make like the (Golden State) Warriors of the mid-90s and run with the guards.

  125. Stephen Tsai November 16, 2008 1:05 pm

Hey, don’t forget that Run-TMC had Hawai‘i ties.
UH had a chance to get Mitch Richmond (Reggie Cross’ friend).
And Tim Hardaway used to play in the WAC.
And Chris Mullen ran a basketball camp here.

    Good Sunday to All:

I just spoke with Ronnie and all is well with her home and family. They tried to return this morning, but were turned away. She is confident that they’ll be able to return tonight. Funny thing, Ian’s school is closed tomorrow and Arron’s is open. Their schools are close. Hmm…..

Fires are north, east, and south of me. Saw a small fire yesterday to the west, but it was quickly extinguished. We are in NO danger.

Okay, gotta get some stuff done before the ‘skins & ‘boys later….

Can the “host” Tsaikos in/around the Seattle area provide input in where’s the best place and time to hold a tailgate or cattle call?

    Hmm, interesting link:

    http://newsok.com/ou-osu-football-struggling-to-fill-seats/article/3322529

[Oklahoma]’s new policy is much more revolutionary. The Sooners will refund students the $130 season ticket cost if they attend 16 or more games. As a result OU has sold more than 1,300 of its 1,400 student season tickets. That’s more than double what the Sooners sold last season.

At [Oklahoma State University], students no longer have to buy the $150 all-sports ticket to buy the $242 men’s season basketball ticket. OSU, which failed to sell about 1,000 of its 3,600 student tickets last year, has sold about 1,600 and OSU ticket manager Tom Johnson said Saturday that.

Compare that to UH’s student section, which is … Disappointing. Atrocious. Embarrassing.

BBall game on, same ol so far…ineffective offense, turnovers…

  176. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:03 pm

Roderick Fleming being more aggresive to the basket which is good to see…

Parghalava needs to stop handling the ball his handle is garbage, needs to come off screens and pop shots…

I hate the flex/motion offense it’s seems so slow developing like molasses…

  177. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:05 pm

I need to see our slim jim bigs bang down low they are so frikkin weak!

  178. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:13 pm

Grrr…this basketball game is as irritating to watch as the first one.

I see why Nitoto cannot get any assist, cause our other guys can’t score when they get the ball. Aside from Flemings nobody else can create a shot. The movement without the ball sucks too much standing around and the bigs not fighting for position down low…too weak. As big as Balocka is he should be bangin down low! I think Nitoto and Flemings should play a two man game, and Parghalava needs to come off some screens to get looks. Amis and Balocka I dunno they aren’t doing it…

  179. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:15 pm

Coach Nash needs to run an offense that better suits the players we have…this offense is stagnant!

  180. Postmanke November 16, 2008 6:15 pm

Nitoto needs to keep slashing to the basket and take control – good things will happen if he can kick it out or dump off

  181. curveball November 16, 2008 6:17 pm

Redskins..that last play was so stupid..throw it 2 yards short of the first down on a 4th down play..then dont catch it..asaaaaahhhhhhh

  186. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:27 pm

oh shnap Ji Xiang in the game…

  187. jm2375 November 16, 2008 6:30 pm

Neither am I, Stretch. Neither am I.

  188. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:35 pm

    1st half…
    14 turnovers

Sloppy play too many turnovers…Parghalava cannot handle the ball for crap…his decision making sucks…needs to just come off screens and shoot the dayum ball. Plays hard, yet dumb!

Offense stagnant, Nitoto needs to drive and dish more. Flemings needs to stay in attack mode all night. Ball needs to move more on offense, they seem too tentative passing the ball allowing the defense to cheat into the passing lanes.

UH should be killing this team although that Akognon dude is lights out…that guys bombs from everywhere!

  189. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:37 pm

    UH outrebounding 26-14…is nice

Defense needs to lock down, Nitoto needs to stick like glue to Akognon

  190. koakane iPhone November 16, 2008 6:41 pm

    just too many turnovers

    someone needs to step up

still looks they do not play well together.

  191. wafan November 16, 2008 6:42 pm

Why is the Warriors’ practice schedule one day ahead of their regular schedule? Do they play on Friday? I thought the game is this Saturday.

    I am confused, I think.

  192. Jason November 16, 2008 6:43 pm

Parghalava reminds me a lot of Matt Gibson in his uncontrolled, frantic style of play. Which gives me hope, cause we all know how Matt really matured and developed into a good player. But right now, he’s irritating the heck out of me. I think his ball-handling skills are actually pretty decent, it’s just that his head isn’t in the game.

I can understand the emphasis on passing for assists, but sometimes, the players just need to take it to the basket and go for the bucket themselves. A good number of those turnovers were off attempts at “pretty” passes.

  193. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:45 pm

What, Parghalava’s handles are suspect…he’s the leading cause of most of the turnovers

  194. Postmanke November 16, 2008 6:46 pm

Hope to see a zone in the 2nd half and back to full court pressure. There is no way to defend Akognon man to man. hard to double team up top. If he is going to beat us from the zone we have to live with it.. – But I think he shot his wad. we should have this game…

  195. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:47 pm

Gibson is way better than Parghalava will ever be…Lasha can shoot and run around with his head cut off but thats about it from what I’ve seen so far of him…

  196. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:48 pm

Fleming is awesome I love this guy!

  197. Postmanke November 16, 2008 6:49 pm

Rod Flem- shades of Erin Galloway mixed with Clarence “Pop” Dickerson

  198. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:55 pm

Can somebody play some dayum defense…Balocka standing around again…he is a big block of crap!

  199. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 6:56 pm

  206. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 7:32 pm

  208. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 7:35 pm

  209. Coach Nash November 16, 2008 7:36 pm

  210. Pauoa Boy November 16, 2008 7:39 pm

Maybe I will fake arse Coach Nash…

  211. Stretch November 16, 2008 7:42 pm

BBall team didn’t look so good again tonight and Akognon kicked our butts. I think the crowd will be a lot less than if they had won or at least made it a closer game.

  212. Brent Guy Is Gone! November 16, 2008 7:56 pm

From the other days blog comments:

“Deseret News is calling for Utah State’s Brent Guy to be fired. Apparently he’s going to be fired even if Utah State wins the rest of their games.”

It’s OFFICIAL. Brent Guy was fired today as our coach.

    http://www.sltrib.com/ci_11000850

We lost the lead in the Louisiana Tech game and let the game slip away at the end like Fresno State. Typical playcalling and coaching errors.

On a personal level, I feel for him since you don’t want to see anyone fired plus he was a very likeable person. But as a head coach, he could not get the job done and one more year was not going to change anything.

Some are meant to be coordinators and don’t do as well as a head coach. Guy is one of those since he was a great defensive coordinator at Oklahoma State, Boise State, and Arizona State and that is probably what he needs to go back to doing.

dat’s too funny guys….sorry for the delayed response, I just qued in to see what’s new before hitting the sack as they say…..laters!!!

  215. BowsForever November 16, 2008 8:25 pm

Didn’t see it, but that Redskins game sure _sounded_ disappointing. A low-scoring offense will have a hard time gettin’ in done in the NFL. Maybe Zorn should think about adding a couple of former Hawaii WRs (say, RGM and Rivers) for fall camp this year to complement Santana Moss?

  216. bb November 16, 2008 8:28 pm

Parghalava takes a long A$$ three that of course rims out…

Then he takes another three that gets swatted into the stands…

    Retarded, dumb, stupid…you name it…

In my section there was a ton of people that said “WTF???” another person said, “He wouldn’t hit the water if he fell off the Superferry” and some juiced up student 2 rows below–“Put in Funaki already!”

  217. d1島 November 16, 2008 8:38 pm

    Stretch,

How did I know that you’d see that article?
How did you know that I would, too! 😉

  218. jm2375 November 16, 2008 8:55 pm

OK, I’m confused (as usual). Went to Big City Diner for dinner and watched ESPN. There’s no advertising for the so-called BB marathon. I just checked the website and I don’t see anything about this. WTF?? So who else is playing and when? Is the UH game the last game? If not, who plays the 6am EST game?

  219. bb November 16, 2008 9:09 pm

    Info on the marathon:

  220. Postmanke November 16, 2008 9:09 pm

I dont think the BB marathon is going to be a big deal. Good match-ups but who really cares in college BB until mid Jan to Feb?

    Brent Guy Is Gone!,

Thank you for the update. I wouldn’t have seen that until my once-per-day web sweep tomorrow. I guess Utah State will start over and I hope that they choose well. If the new coach struggles I can see attendance dipping even further and staying below D-IA required levels…UH and the WAC needs for teams like Utah State to improve!

  223. Garret November 16, 2008 9:35 pm

I missed the 60 Minutes interview with Pres.-elect Obama where he called for a playoff in D-IA football. It will be interesting to see if things can be set into motion with the pressure he can exert. Just bringing more attention to the issue is a good thing, as it gets people talking. However, an 8-team playoff may not include many (if any) non-BCS teams, which wouldn’t be ideal for UH.

President-elect Obama in his first post-election interview held to his campaign promise and told Kroft he will push for playoff system.

“If you’ve got a bunch of teams who play throughout the season, and many of them have one loss or two losses, there’s no clear decisive winner. We should be creating a playoff system,” Obama declared.

His plan: “Eight teams. That would be three rounds to determine a national champion. It would add three extra weeks to the season. You could trim back on the regular season. I don’t know any serious fan of college football who has disagreed with me on this,..So, I’m going to throw my weight around a little bit. I think it’s the right thing to do.”

  224. Garret November 16, 2008 9:36 pm

Tomorrow I’ll be off blog for basically all day. I will not have a computer with me when I attend the MILCOM conference tomorrow from 7am until 10pm…so, I’ll do the sweep for articles late tomorrow night.

This article is for Rich, who I know has a very impressive bowling average. If I remember correctly, he is still searching for that 300 game. When that occurs, I hope that he’s not like this guy! This guy spent 45 years on the same bowling team, finally bowled a 300 game, high-fived everyone…and then died.

Minutes after achieving the life long goal of a perfect game the 62 year old bowler collapsed and died at Ravenna Bowl in Ravenna. “Don just collapsed,” says alley owner Nutt. ” At first we thought he just fainted.” “Then when I rolled him over I realized it wasn’t good,” says teammate Place.

The teammates say he was giving a high-five minutes before. They tried to revive him but Doane never spoke another word. He died of what was apparently a massive heart attack “He looked fine, reached across the table and gave me a high-five and he fell over,” says Place.

Don Doane was a member of the “Nutt Farm” bowling team at Ravenna Bowl for 45 years. His teammates says its strange not to see him on league nights.

“It was like a book, a final chapter,” says Place. “He threw his 300 game with all of his friends, gave each other high-fives and it’s like the story ended. He died with a smile on his face.”

Garret – #230 ewwwwww!! Let’s just say most nudists are not centerfold material.

Re #228 – To everyone – make sure you know what you’re being prescribed and what’s it’s typically used for. Make sure you’re clear BEFORE you leave the doctor’s office and then ask the pharmacist ALSO!! Above all, do not take antibiotics for a viral infection. All experts believe that this practice has lead to the emergence of “super” bacteria.

BTW – there’s still time to get a flu shot!!

  233. Jason November 16, 2008 10:01 pm

Ack, I just lost my entire post! I guess I need to re-type it. 🙁

Pauoa Boy: I still think your assessment of Parghalava is premature. Yeah, he’s making bone-headed plays, and I don’t think anyone should be tolerant of that. But I also see why he was recruited to play here. He’s high-energy, moves without the ball, has a quick release. In those ways, he’s a lot like Matt Gibson in style. And like Gibson was early in his career, Parghalava is very raw and undisciplined too. So yes, he’ll need to work on those things, but I have hope for him too. By the end of his career, Matt turned into a great team player, a leader, and a fan favorite. Even though he has one less year than Matt, I’m still hopeful that Parghalava will grow similarly to become a good player.

And while I’d prefer that we’d be 2-0, obviously, we also have to remember that this is the “pre-season.” What really matters is WAC play, and so I like the idea of getting players on the court, see what they can do. In that sense, I have some hope. Flemings has shown flashes of stardom, and I really like Adams’ athletic ability. Nitoto has matured very nicely — still a ways to go, but a lot better than last year. And if Thompson gets healthy soon, I like the “problem” of having to choose between the two point guards. I wish Amis were a little stronger, but his physical abilities are serviceable, and he has a developing skill set; I don’t think he’ll be as big a factor as we thought entering this season, but he’ll have an impact. I like that Balocka is strong, yet moves deceptively well for such a stocky guy; he plays exactly as the scouting reports I read said he’s play, which I really like. Parghalava has potential, but he needs to get his head together and play with discipline in order to be effective. I do wish that Campbell and Mayen had gotten stronger this off-season, I’m a little disappointed in that. I really like their potential, but they gotta be able to hold their point better if they want to play in the WAC.

tonight’s game was frustrating. i’ll just leave it at that.

anyways, here’s how our football opponents are doing. i have been keeping track of their games and schedules. it helps to see how they did against their competition and against us.

  235. Postmanke November 16, 2008 10:23 pm

I like Prag too. If I’m coach Nash I’d let him shoot as much as he wants. we are going to need him down the stretch. But for the next few games I’d like to see him come off the bench and play more against the 2nd team. I like Lutu more than I like Prag thus far and would like to see him start and take his bruises before the wac season. For a walk-on he is going to be a tremendous player.

What i dont like is that we dont have a true point guard, no true post player, no pure shooter (well Prag) and so far no leader. Balocka is heavy on the weights and is playing the perimeter and shooting 3’s- why? – there is issues everywhere but I really like this team..

Hurrah! Mahalo, ST, for the tickets!

    Koakane, beer’s on me.

My alma mater won today’s game with, it appeared, only 6 of us cheering the team on in the first game. Way to go, Dons!!! They also won the West Coast Conference today in men’s soccer, heading on to their 31st NCAA appearance! When I went to USF, Alex Toledo, a recent past president of Peru was on the soccer team. They were awesome then, too.

I’m burning dvd’s of the George Carlin series on the dvr for #2 son. We just realized that on Wednesday when the new dish and HD dvr comes in, the old one is history and we have a lot of saved movies on it. Arrgh!
This week will be nuts. The solar water heater is installed on Tuesday and the aforementioned dish on Wednesday.

Had to go to a meeting at halftime during the Redskins game. Tsai, Jason must be happy. It was the Marion Barber show Q4.

Glad to hear Ronnie and Rich are safe.
