Windfall linebacker
Imagine doing the laundry, and then finding $20 you forgot you had.
That’s a bad metaphor to explain how linebacker Tevita Lataimua will be joining the Rainbow Warriors this summer.
Lataimua, who played at the College of San Mateo last year, signed a letter of intent with the Warriors in December 2012 with the intent of enrolling at UH for the 2013 spring semester. But he did not meet the requirements to join in January. There appeared to be no progress at the end of the spring semester.
And then last week, the Warriors received word that Lataimua met the requirements and will eligible to play this coming season. He has been added to the 104-player roster for training camp, and will compete at middle linebacker.

The Warrior football tour continues with today’s camp at Castle High School.
The participation fee of $20 includes a T-shirt, refreshments, lunch and instruction from the Warrior coaching staff.
Registration is at 9 a.m. The camp begins at 10 a.m.
If you’re interested, please show up.
Go warriors!!
OK, why does the page look weird?
Sigh.

βST” sorry
Is Mr. Mui the lolo spammer?
Bwah-ha-ha-ha!
Very interesting how things are falling into place for the Warrior team as it continues to do “off-season” training heading into fall practice.
If the coaches can work wonders, the Warriors may become a very pleasant surprise in 2013 and hopefully increase the “walk-up” ticket sales once September is over and BOOST season ticket sales for 2014 and beyond.
Is Tevita on scholarship or must to walk-on?

Welome to Tevita Lataimua!
What a wonderfull thing it is to see no spam!
Love the pidgin talk, have a good one folks!
i think the korea times doesn’t know that hawai’i is part of the united states.
a 4 pound can of spam
Some on the mainland don’t know Hawaii is a state.
Many on the mainland don’t know Hawaii is a state.
Hey wafan — A-House when ask when you going stay come Hawaii. So when?
I think Wes’side Warrior when stay come already but maybe no more indanet hook up?
…sorry, couldn’t resist. The other day, I was just telling someone on the mainland that I only spoke two languages (kinda)… Engrish and pidgin english (Haw’n dialect). π
no worries SteveM – eye no weah wafan stay!
In my first speech class at UH, I was so bad that the professor could not understand my “lingo” – so I wen tell him, “what you dunno canefield talk”? – then I tell him “you neva stay go”? so he promptly flunked me and said go take speech 101.
Much later in life as I was stationed in different states on the mainland, it came in real handy as I was the unofficial translator for those from the deep south and the Bronx or New England – talk about no can understand one dialect from another – jeez, just talk pidgin!!!
After graduating from “jump school” I flew out of Atlanta on Delta – in the boarding area, I refused to sit down and wrinkle my “greens” ( proud Hawaiian )
a young girl about 5 years old comes up to me and asks if I was in the Army, I said yes and she tells me you should sit down cause you tired – so I bend at my knees to look at her face to face and tell her, my uniform will get wrinkled – then she runs to her mother and says, mommie he’s an Army man.
ah, the good ole days of being a young officer.
Don’t forget the Warrior Bash is this Saturday at Ige’s. Tickets are still available.

A-House, so you stood up in the plane too?
ahouse please excuse me, I did not understand what you’re saying, would you repeat what is being said. In other words heh………..
π
just seeing if new blog format does emoticons
π
jimmy the lock — I understood and believe that A-House did not want to wrinkle his uniform…didn’t have polyester in those days, you know….
No worry, A-House, I won’t tell him the real reason…. πΏ
RE:#48
Speaking of translating and pidgin… true story:
I was a USCG instructor in the Yorktown training center and trainees attend from all over. One day, a fellow instructor called in 3 trainees from Puerto Rico to explain several altercations in the barracks and class. After several minutes, the instructor stopped them and asked, “Aren’t you guys required to speak english to join? I don’t understand a word you’re saying”
I was surprised and by the puzzled look on his face, he was serious. I intervened. I mostly understood them. Then with a repeat explanation where I had to stop them several times to ask what a certain noun or verb π³ meant, I could translate.
Except for localized nouns and some expletive verbs, pidgin english is universal.
Now, I really had difficulty understanding the Maine accent.
Quite surprising that Phil Steele has USC #6 in his 40 countdown, ahead of Stanford, UCLA, Washington, and Arizona St. For me, I don’t believe it.
I know he didn’t want to wrinkle his uniform. If that’s the case then he must’ve stood the entire flight. No? If he sat on the plane then it would make no difference if he sat in the boarding area. No?

#58 well that is noble of him to attempt to be properly creased. I am an old guy so my experience with creases was back in the day when guys used to have their Levis starched and pressed. Watching the older guys try not to crease that ironed line was sort of interesting. I’d say funny but those guys are still around I don’t want to get slapped by saying something that may offend them.
Starched levis and “duck tails”.
I saw the Heat in MIA when Carter was there.
I went to San Antonio and walked the River Walk….
…and forund Dick’s Last Resort!
GO Spurs! π
back in the day I remember all the KS rotc cadets stood on the bus as to not wrinkle their brown khaki uninis. must of had plenty starch cause even in the wind it no move. plus wondered how they keep that boxed shirt look till my fiend showed me. will keep this secret till I forever.
ahouse no pilikia I told my friend you deef bwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
St…any word on Kirkland, barker, higdon if they on the 104?
