jm2375 wins the beer
Avis has selected jm2375 as the winner of the case of Beers of the World.
Thanks to Lisa Sekiya for donating the prize.

As expected, people representing coaches interested in the basketball opening have been contacting athletic director Jim Donovan and his advisory group.
This actually is a workable system. Because Donovan is making the pick, there won’t be any announced final list of candidates. A final list often has scared away potential candidates who don’t want current employers to know they’re seeking jobs elsewhere. Going through representatives gives every candidate deniability — “What? I didn’t apply?” — while allowing the agent to gauge the chances.
Donovan, who is attending today’s WAC meetings in Reno, is expected back in town tomorrow. He’ll collect applications, then likely head back to the Mainland to conduct interviews.

Former UH linebacker Blaze Soares, who is training at Triple Threat in Arizona, has drawn inquiries from more than 10 NFL teams. During his two months in Arizona, his body fat has dropped from 19 percent to 10 percent.
Soares said former UH running back/slotback Daniel Libre has been impressive during his training, also in Arizona. Libre is squat-lifting 600 pounds.

Best wishes to Caryn Kunz Lesuma, our outstanding reporter who is moving to Alaska. (Warrior tie: Caryn, her husband, and UH’s Inoke Funaki and Tuika Tufaga were classmates at Kahuku High.)
1 bebe!
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to Lisa!!!

So excited about free beer that I forgot to add:
Top Ten Bay-bee!!! 🙂
Gawsh, free beer? You think that might encourage a bunch o’ entries amongst certain Tsaikos. 🙂
Morning Tsaikos!
Congrats to the softball team! Hope their success continues this weekend.
Best of luck to Amber Kaufman!
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to everybody!

Aloha Kakahiaka!
Hi de Ho!
Carried over from the last blog:
The Long Beach State volleyball matches are next weekend – March 19 and 20. The guys are not playing anywhere this weekend except in one of the gyms.
There’s Wahine softball tomorrow night at 5 pm & 7 pm and baseball at 6:35 pm.
On Saturday, there’s softball at 12, 2, 4 & 6. Hawai`i plays for sure at 2 pm – and depending upon the outcome of that game – will play in one of the other two games white the first pitch across the street is at 6:35 pm.
On Sunday, the softball games are 10 am and 12 nooni and Bowsball starts at 1:05 pm.
The USC series concludes on Monday at 6:35 pm.
Got a request for one baseball ticket on March 20 – anyone here want the other ticket?
Finally got all in necessary information about the Big Blue Budweiser Bullpen Tent Event. Will report on what I learned later tonight.
Cheers to Lisa!
If I win, I’ll donate it to a T-Gate.
I am sure it would be appreciated at the T-Gate but you better check the “Born on Date”. Might be turning by that time, but then again, I don’t think KK can tell the difference.
Cheers to Lisa!
Okay: I hereby certifiy that I am over the legal age limit to consume beer in Hawaii. So pick me!
Good Morning Tsaikos. Had fun at the wet and windy Wahine SB games last night. Got the official explanation and terminology of the “dumb rule” for Pomai by watching the replays. “Dumb rule” = international tiebreaker to expedite play during tournaments (even though last night was not a tournament) 🙂
Cheers to Lisa!
free beer?
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to Lisa!
Now you are talking!
Cheers to Lisa!
I don’t think this guy likes Colt
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/free-agency/will-redskins-pursue-quarterba.html
What’s with the BB recruiting scene???, if I’m not mistaken signing period/day is about a month away???…..here we go again.
#27 sjmacro wrong name it’s da “STUPID RULE” LOL
Free beer if this doesn’t take it to 1000 nothing will.
Cheers to Lisa!
If I win pass it on to our official beer taste tester KOAKANE!!!!!
Sounds good, bruddah Blaze seems to be putting in the work. Always a character with big play potential, I just hope he gets his chance and can remain healthy and be productive at the next level.
What kine juice Daniel Libre taking? At 5’8″ and about what 185-190lbs. das frikkin nawts squat lifting 600lbs. Frikk I get the same build and can only dream of lifting that much. Just thinking about it hurts my legs…the most I’ve done is 455lbs. and it felt like I was lifting a elephant sitting in a humvee…ouch!!!
Went to tux fitting yesterday for my brother’s wedding.
Nothing like trying on unwashed pants used by hundreds of people. I felt like my mangoes were pickled.
Cheers to Lisa!
BIK
Oye, thanks for the picture ST, I will now be traumatized for the rest of the day… 🙂
Tsai,
I believe the baseball term for that would be “foul balls.”
BIK
LMAO @ BIK, now das hilarious hahaha
Best wishes to Caryn in Alaska!!!
Speaking of beer. A lot of people like to drink in Alaska. A LOT. Like… A LOT. A whole lot.
Pomai: I stand corrected— “Stupid + Dumb Rule” 😀
Well… I’m never eating pickled mangoes again.
Is mangoes spelled with the “e” or without? I tried to spell check both and neither of them take.
Stretch – I’m assuming that there will be a T-Gate at the April 30 football meetup somewhere around town.
SJ and Pomai,
I say have the 8th inning start out with a runner at 3rd AND 1st with 2 outs. 😆
BEER!!
Cheers to Lisa!
Pauoa Boy,
Mango juice, specifically pickled mango juice.
Good morning everyone!
Cheers to Lisa!

Cheers to Lisa!
Good morning Tsaikos…hope all is well…

Cheers to Lisa!
kazz
one mango
two mangoes
best wishes to karen and husband.
warn act notices going out at tha yesterday and today
seems like a lot of interest in the uh bb position.
that is good.
i guess jd has been going full bore since monday.
i wonder how much sleep he is getting?
Speaking of stuff marinating in a jar. Lately I have been addicted to these yellow chili peppers. Not the banana peppers, but the real deal HOTT ones. I just eat them plain and then I get real red and angry and end up laughing.
I should bring them to a game and see what happens.
Al,
Wanna bet a case of green bottles for next season’s tailgate that Gib Arnold is the next Rainbow Warrior head coach? 😎
Cheers to Lisa!
ST, was thinking about your pickled mango comment. The only way pickling can take effect is if you go “commando”. Wow, maybe “TMI”?!?!?
“I felt like my mangoes were pickled.”
Mangoes?! Really?! I mean really?!
How many times can we enter?
Beer? Beer? Did someone say beer?
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to Lisa!
Save this for a new contest entry line.
Saw Jake Heun at the softball game last night, along with Brashton, Ginlack and Tachibana.
Brashton looks like he’ll be faster this year and so does Heun.
Seems like the offseason condition is doing ok.
69.
(sheepish laugh) 😆
FYI,
When placing an e-mail address on important documents, one should try to create a more “professional” e-mail address seperate from a “fun” one.
Kinda hard to keep a straight face when e-mailing “likeoof”.
😆
BUMBAI U LEARN!!!!!
whoa kazz…calling me out on this one eh?
gib arnold is/was the front runner a day or two ago. however, two things have happened since monday…
one,
too often folks are associating gib with his dad. the real fans still have a bitter taste in their mouth and have been vocal about it. the fact that many pun alumni are on the board doesn’t help. especially when it comes to punahou students/athletes do not revere a university of hawaii education and therefore, tend to go to the mainland for their education so why should they be allowed to voice an opinion.
two,
a lot of good candidates are surfacing. kyle smith for example. we need a coach who will come in squeaky clean and be able to have a fresh start. one with vision and ambition. sure we have to realize this could be a “stepping stone” job for any young hopeful, but, in this day and age who isn’t looking at short term and long term plans.
the gibber can talk and is trying to talk his way in, that’s my opinion. i don’t let that spiel rattle in my head. he could be a good one, but, ran aground in the usc controversy. if he were selected and did not have any success from the get go, he will be labeled in the same conversations with his dad. jd would then be blasted because he hired him.
jd knows this and i believe him to be a sharp cookie who weighs all the ingredients before baking the cake.
so……kazz. the bet’s on bull!
(i do have to remind you that my preference of green bottles are peroni’s.)
If I was a gal playing for a team called the Trojans, I might have attitude too…
I coulda swore I saw the Trojan coach givin’ a one finger salute to the ref after that foul ball call. I think the catcher for the Trojans shoulda “protected” home plate a lil better. 😉
Beer?!?! Did anyone say beer? Wooo hooo! 🙂
Cheers to Lisa!
KAZZ…what you talking about in 69 above??? MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh God…now we have PP involved in the beer wars…..Sheesh….LOL
Peroni…
MMMmmm
dpk….one never goes mmmmmmm when it comes to beers.
its aaaaaahhhhhh.
pp….beers are for boys.
Homer Simpson and I do…
figures
all…#78….ever see PP drink…..like a fish I tell you…she puts KK to shame….LOL
AL,
Ok! Bet is on!
YOU’RE ALL WITNESSES!!!
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/360836-washington-redskins-trading-up-for-sam-bradford#poll
I’m so glad that you’re BOTH friends of mine and that the winner will prolly share some of that beer with me.
MMMMmmm…
I think both PP & Rob25 are very nice ladies. Although why would you cut class, stay on campus and get caught. DUH!
Cheers to Lisa. After this particular week, I will need a drink (not because of my blog entry here at the HonAd’ blogs today, yo: http://worldwideed.honadvblogs.com/2010/03/11/thegrease-and-thebus-guest-blog-by-chicken-grease/ ). Aloha.
I just realized something… The blog is finally meeting its true destiny by becoming a BEER blog… 😉
About the softball officiating. It’s not as bad as the officiating for Warrior volleyball, but it’s up there.
I can’t even remember how many times the home plate umps have lost track of the pitch count. I dunno what the deal with the scoreboard is, but it’s always behind. Coolen has embarrassed the officiating crew several times and not to do so on purpose, but because they’ve been so off.
I swear, if these guys officiated football games, we’d see 5th and long situations.
Still, not even God can do anything about 19-3, I’m on the fence about the 8th winning 2-1 win and I know that ____ from Troy was flippin out about a possible foul tip that ended up going off the wrist of Taualii so much so she really reacted bad to it. Me and Ralph heard a “click” sound but it was muted so could have gone flush against her wrist and not off the bat which would have been a louder and sharper tone. Since Taualii is a lefty, her back is to the Troy dugout and since we were sitting at 3rd we could see everything.
Still think it’s funny Troy’s coach reacted as if she was sitting at 3rd and staring right at it instead of where she actually was and that was starting at a #24.
afternoon gang!
miller lite w/ a bucket ice please
good luck to Caryn
how i going know what happened on Lost now?
DPK,
A beer blog? I can imagine the amount ov typos tat wuold be all oevr the plac.
Kazz-
Buuuuuuuuurp!
i have faith that JD will make the right call
I’m with Al. Kyle Smith sounds like a coach that should be considered on his merits…by basketball people! not money peeps. Who was it that said you should hire someone WITH a job, than someone without?
600 lb squats! that’s big boy stuff, what you think jit$
I am sure the winner will share with you….. if you ever show up to a tailgate.
No.
I can’t imagine that a “p(ee)p(ee) drink” would sell very well in the stores.
Cheers to Lisa!
jj…yup, i have heard of the pp legend. no wonder she is a tsaiko.
and yah, at least she no pass out before the game starts.
INSANE!
A basketball coach at a NCAA Division 1 program being decided by BASKETBALL folks of all people?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!
Enough of this nonsense!!!!!!!!
A bank executive, a travel agency rep, a doctor, and a lawyer can do just fine hiring someone to coach ATHLETICS.
Well.. at least it works at SOME high schools or at least used to work. 😆 eh… who am I kidding? It still does.
stretch…i was thinking the same.
dpk…no beer for you until you say, “aaaaaahhhh”.
gee whiz.
i was thinking (always a dangerous thing) you know how the football team is into the training and un supervised practices and soon spring training will be upon them…
well, shouldn’t we be doing the same?
how about a practice tailgater?
i’ll bring the roast duck! (oh, and rob25 it won’t be from chinatown)
um, kazz you could bring the case of peroni’s to the practice tailgater.
howzit al
did stephen post the spring practice schedule yet?
speaking of beer, where’s brew? homey?
I showed up at two last year.
I didn’t see you.
I may show up if there’s lots o’ beer involved.
I’d even say “ahhhhhhhhh.”
All the best, Karyn!!! Keep it “cool” in AK!
ST – omg… mangoes are not in season, thank goodness.
Kazz*.* – NOTED.
😆
In fact:
Aaaaaaaaah…
Okay al, where the beer? 😆
i think the contest will push it over 1000 today
Good Luck to Caryn!
600 #’s! 😯
Hey! We reached a hundred hits and its only lunch time! Lets have a beer to celebrate!
Good afternoon Tsai-kos!
Cheers to Lisa!
Go Wahine!
Go Bows!
Go Amber!
And I have one more thing to say…
HOYA SAXA!!! 91-84 over Syracuse!! 😀
RIP Merlin Olsen.
Liz..yes they are..got lots that have been falling down due to the winds. The big ones are too high for me to get so donate them to the birds and rodents…
Is the prize today being presented as a “rental”?
heheheh
Cheers to Lisa!
Oh yeah, I’m with Loa. I’m gonna be Lost without Caryn.
Good luck and stay warm!
Sekiya?
Hmmmm…..does the winner also get a dozen Hash Tempura?
loa….it was posted awhile ago. perhaps he will repost it when it kicks off.
okay, i’ll chance’m
Cheers to Lisa!
speaking of fires…
wow, that fire was up close from my view last night.
thank God no one was injured.
NorthShoreFan… oooh… cool…. um, er, pickled mango samples welcome any time! Send em over with Stretch.
Our trees are in bloom right now and I’m praying the wind leaves some left!
Practice tailgate?

borrow the gg’s 50 incher and plug in the boise st game of 07.
hmmmm. get possibilities.
Al — good idea.
BTW, this has always bothered me: What do you you call a tailgate at the beach without a football game to interrupt stuff?
Uh huh… and you know why this has always been a non-event in Tsai-ko history? 👿 😆 …geeee, the things I say when I don’t have to worry about being clobbered anymore. 🙄
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to Lisa!
Sekiya’s?
My niece works there.
NorthShoreFan – ANY KINE ok!!! Woo hoo!
stevem…
that would be a beach blanket bingo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beach_Blanket_Bingo
and no worry. just concentrate your efforts on the hot date.
which one is your niece?
i’ll go and give her a hard time for awhile and then tell its a joke instigated by her uncle.
Her name is Shasta.
Leave her a big tip.
I dunno, I like advisory search committees.. but if you’re going to seek advise in the hopes that other people can help out with establishing hiring criteria’s.. go get a agent out of the secret service office in honolulu- throw him in the committee- he’ll let you know everything you need or dont want to know about a candidate. At least you know!
Loa,
A while ago ST did post the Spring Ball schedule.
AL,
What practice tailgate?
Thanks for all the best wishes, everyone! 🙂
I’m reallllllly going to miss home when I step out into that -20 degree weather!
A pleasant afternoon!
Good luck in Alaska, Caryn!
Do not need to worry about -20. Once it gets down to around 10 the cold all starts to feel the same.
Cheers to Lisa!!!
Bravo to Blaze and Libre.
Hope when Blaze gets to face Colt he remembers to pull up a bit.
Advisory Search Committees…good… if you know what you looking for and have some knowledge of the requirements. Would have been nice if Artie was on the committee. He was on L&L last night and it was a good show.
After the selection, I wonder if we’ll be able to get the benchmarks that the new person will be held to.
It was interesting that we find out after that BN was somewhat restricted with the kinds of athletes he could go after. Mainly academics being the goal.
JD stated that BN met 5 of the 6 benchmarks but the win/loss benchmark was the most important.
If this be the case, he needs to let the new coach know the priorities on his list of benchmarks.
Win/Loss, tournament appearance, gate receipts, etc. and if academics turn out to be one not met, is that ok? Will the coach be left alone to prioritize the benchmarks, or… meet all benchmarks, no excuses.
How about a contract based on the level of accomplishments.
Potential for a $800K if these goals are met….if not base salary will be $_ _ _K…
kazz…the one you are organizing.
While beer excites me, I got really excited about the other four-letter word up there: FREE! 🙂 I will share with you guys (and Big C) if I win…promise.
Awesome to hear about Blaze and Daniel…you go, guys!
And…Cheers to Lisa!
Wanna send a BIG MAHALO to “David” at the Koa Anuenue office!
Just called in with a question and braddah was VERY courteous!
A-House, I think you scared them straight!
Nah, j/k luckily for me I’ve never had an issue with them.
Al,
Ok. 😯
Cheers to Lisa! If I win, I’ll share, since I don’t drink much beer.
Good luck to Blaze and Daniel in their NFL quest!
Spent the morning helping at the Na Koa office with mailings. Don’t forget to get your membership donation in.
Al,
Lemme go consult with my advisory committee…
Wait, no. It’s a workday, they’re out golfing.

Cheers to Lisa!
Kazz — if you are considering #132, two things come to mind…
(1) BG
(2) Hickam, Bellows, or Pokai Bay (? –this one ask Kekoa)
😆
kazz how many punahou alumni on your committee?
Are there any Pun alum Tsaikos? Gotta be couple at least…
Cheers to Lisa!
expat is a pun.
Well, kind of a pun. I think he finished at Bellevue, WA. That is kind of like the WA “O”.
Last I visited the kids drove foreign and the teachers drove domestic.
ST,
Re. #134, would that make Skyler your nephew?
Cheers to Lisa
Stay warm in Alaska, Caryn Kunz Lesuma!
Cheers to Caryn and hubby!
What?! Free Beer?!?!
Cheers to Lisa!
ST ~
Eeeewwwww! on the tuxedo pants fitting image. You kidding, right?
Hoyas! Yay! Pitt, oh no!
Cheers to Lisa!
Cheers to Lisa
#88 ~ Kazz, dat you?
The Troy coach was coaching at third base, I thought. (That’s also where Coolen was when UH was on the field.) I don’t think she was in the dugout. So, she would have been facing Tauali’i. But I couldn’t see exactly what happened. The umpire was closer…
DPK ~
Sorry, there are NO Helen’s on the Troy team. One would think they would have at least one… 🙂
Cheers to Lisa!
Slugger,
What’s the weather report on that side?
Hoping for somethin’ like this….
http://tinyurl.com/yefolnh
Well, the Men of Troy are here. Stepped out of the office for a meeting and who should I see roaming around the resort? They looked like they were headed to the beach.
PP,
Direct them to the Ala Wai!
heheheh
slugger the head coach was in the dugout at all times with the pitching coach. The pitching coach from Troy is Kaia’s club coach in Australia. The thirdbaseperson and catcher are from Australia.
Catcheress?
PP feed the men of Troy some jellyfish delicacy, tell them its the best tasting soup they will ever taste, guaranteed to tingle and sting their tummy.
Seems catcherette might work, too.
So, what is the draw for Caryn to Alaska? A vertical move for her or Mr. Caryn? A little bit of a change from the white sand to the white outs (depending where they live).
Important things first! Cheers to Lisa!
Wafan
Caryn’s gonna love those big AK dividend checks!!!! I think it was 3K per resident last year…
#177 wafan
They sent us Jake we are returning Caryn, we are keeping Jake.
Practice tailgate? What are we waiting for?!!!
#181 sounds like a winner to me.
Funny Myki, sjmacro and slugger was just talking about how neat it would be if we could tailgate next to the practice field.
Cheers to Lisa!
Sealy names Joy McKienzie-Fuerbringer as an assistant. She is the director/owner of Mizuno Long Beach VB club. She played for Long Beach State as a DS, then as setter, and they beat UH. UH players of note for the club are Emily Hartong, recruit, and Melanie Griffiths, RS. Past stars included Alix Klinemann, Cynthia Barboza and Ashley Engle. Shoji recruited Alix and Cynthia, lost out to Stanford for obvious reasons.
Is Mister Caryn Kunz Lesuma an ex-offensive lineman who played for the Washington State Cougars? Big guy!
Has anyone heard from Koakane? I think he might of fainted after seeing the title of today’s post by ST.
3K+ bonus check is nice but they probably need it. What is the cost of living there? As high or higher than Hawai’i?
Pride . . .
I think he is busy breathing into a paper bag.
Wow, just like the average Tsaiko’s beer budget.
Volley Talk bloggers report that Stephanie Ferrell will be taking official visits to Florida, Oregon and San Diego State. Possible visit to Long Beach State. What’s wrong with this picture? She gives up a scholarship from Hawaii without a scholarship offer and she is still in the process of finding a school that fits.
KK just called me, it’s good to know that he is alive and well.
Great news about KK, Mr. Pride.!
Hyperventilating is evil. One of my boys had an attack a few years ago. Ug-a-leeeeeee scene.
It’s never personal Ralph. All you do is offer and some will say yes, some will say no. It really doesn’t do anyone any good to let it get personal. We never really no why someone chooses or rejects a certain school. It wastes a lot of time and energy trying to figure it out.(No worry brah, just hang loose.)
This every child left behind stuff is really a downer. More curriculum work.
Nytal!
Yes, I agree.
Heck, sooooo close to 200.
198
Almost . . .
HERE!
3rd Century.
Nytal — really.
d1島,
Tis sunny ovah hea. The Great American Music Hall is a very nice venue for concerts. Are you going to the Boz Scaggs concert?
ralph,
I stand corrected. I thought I saw her over in the third base coaching box at some part of the game, but maybe not.
Coolen said it was a ‘Tale of Two Games’ last night.
PP,
USC Trojans?
Cheers to Lisa!
By the way, good news about Blaze Soares and Daniel Libre. Always Warriors.
“Warriors is an Attitude”
“Forever A Warrior”
Hope Caryn Lesuma doesn’t get LOST in Alaska. Lot of land up there in the 49th state.
Kanoa just said on the news that Joe “Jellybean” Bryant is applying for the UH coaching job.
He is Kobe’s daddy.
Cheers to Lisa
Danielle Lawrie, UDUB, senior, pitched a perfect game 3/11/2010 against Miami of Ohio. Faced 21 batters in the 7 innings, no hits, no runs, no runners lob with 14 Ks. This is the second perfect game she has tossed this season. For those of us who got to watch last season’s national poy, it was a treat and a good measure of what a top flight pitcher can do.
I hope Kaia can bring back the glory days of Brooke Wilkins and pack the stadium once again. She is on the Australian Junior national team and her pitching coach is the current pitching coach on Troy sb team.
Lawrie is also a pitcher on the Canadian National team.
Ralph, must be a story behind all this with Ferrell. You have a scholie in hand and you give that up to go shopping around? After your team just got to the final 4? If she wanted to go in another direction, as was explained, seems to me like she don’t know what direction she wants to go right now.
Anyhoo, really enjoyed her play here and wish her the best. I hope she finds her “direction” soon.
Boise State – ichiban. No surprise there.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/360735-reranking-college-footballs-top-25-teams-by-returning-starters#page/28
Not sure if anyone posted this but Josh Slaats is going to miss the start tomorrow against USC. He has a sore pitching elbow so Trapasso wants him to rest since the season is still early. The rotation will go back to Klein, Spangler and Sisto. Slaats might pitch Monday.
Re #202: Yes, Slugger…SC Trojans in the house. Well, the house I’m at during the day.
Cheers to Lisa!
Good luck to Amber tomorrow!
Cheers to Lisa!

I only spent my soph year at Bellevue while my mom was on sabbatical from UH. That was in 85-86, before the microsoft money made Bellevue a little nuts. It was a just a regular old school back then — no athletic trophies and nothing special academically or with facilities. I was back at punahou for junior and senior year.
Al, is there another pun on the advisory committee besides Peter Ho?
Good night! Keep the playhouse clean, y’all!
… and Cheer to Lisa!
Ugh…
Cheers to Lisa!
I really need to go moe moe. Latahs!
Congrats to jm2375! 😆
You rock!
Hiya!
Had a wonderful night at the Chamber of Commerce quarterly meeting. Great speaker, great fuud and then I had to ride in the back of my boss’ car with 3 teenagers…
I still feel pretty green…
jm2375- winnahs!
expat,
several reports mentioned how all of the advisory committee members except the professor had a tie -in with punahou. not necessarily an alum of.
well that’s two cases of beer for the tailgate.
one full of beers of the world and the other full of green bottles.
now, if only a couple of men who bet lunch would own up we could also have two plate lunches from, er, say, rainbow drive inn?
224 bottles of…
225 and counting!
Time to wish you all SWEET WARRIOR DREAMS!
Nitey Nite!
Kobayashi is a Punahou guy.
And another member is a Punahou parent.
jm2375 ~ Remember when I told you I could help you drink those beers? Well, I’m just confirming what I told you. Your ice chest or mine?
myki & sj ~ The ultimate UH fans. I love to see you 2 enjoying a ball at any of the venues. That’s what I call:
*Warrior Attitude!*
Thanks ST!
Kekoa – your ice chest. I will share with the Tsai-kos.
OK, let’s queue up in a nice straight line, no pushing, no cutting…. just like in Kindergarten. KK and (J)J – you must wait your turn, one bottle per person. 😆
I got a direction for Ferrell as well as a WARM destination to “go to”.
Funny folks here should mention a Spring Training T-Gate. I was going to suggest one as an alternative to the Budweiser Bullpen until I found out that no alcohol can be consumed on campus except in specific licensed locations.
One of the reasons why it was so difficult to get timely as well as accurate information about the Budweiser Bullpen Blue Tent Event promotion is that it is really not set up for a group to buy individual tickets. Rather, it is intended to be used by individual businesses to treat customers, clients & employees. In other words, the Baseball Office expected to have to deal with only one entity, one check, and one tax-deductible donation to the baseball program.
Instead, what I tried to do was get a reasonably-priced per-person cost which would include foot/beverage/specialticket/donation to the baseball program.
I did not succeed.
Even so, I did get some information as to how it could be structured so that the first 20 people attending would get a dedicated donation to Koa Anuenue/UH Foundation.
The basic cost is $1250 for 20 people – or $62.50 per ticket. Of that figure, an estimated $30 would cover food, beverages, and a special ticket. I got two different quotes on this portion of the cost ranging from $25 to $30 per person so I went with the higher figure to be conservative. The balance, which would be tax deductible, goes the baseball program.
Even so, up to 50 people all totaled could be accommodated at the Blue Tent Event. The additional attendees would be charged $30 each with no money given to the program – only to cover the catering costs.
I thanked to two women who provided the information and decided that it was not worth my time nor effort to try to promote a two-tiered event such as this. If someone else is willing to take it on, please contact Lisa in the Baseball Office.
However, what I thought might be interesting would be a Baseball T-Gate before & after one of the Sunday afternoon games on April 4, 11 or May 2 OR before the Wahine softball double-header on Saturday, May 1, which starts at 4 pm. We could set up by Ching Field or over by the soccer field
However, see my comments above as to why this probably wouldn’t be much of a draw.

Again, does anyone want a free baseball ticket to the Saturday, March 20 game against Air Force. Protector is taking the first ticket.
We will also have a pair of volleyball tickets and a pair of baseball tickets to give away on Friday, April 2nd, and Satuirday, April 3rd – the final double-booked weekend for this season.
Please e-mail me swood at hoku dot com.
Night all – we’ll be at both softball and baseball games this weekend. Be sure to say hello – my eyesight is now so bad that I cannot idenitfy people more than five or six feet away without my binoculars.

Kobayashi is a Punahou parent who graduated from Roosevelt. He’s not a Punahou guy if you mean he went to Punahou.
The only Punahou graduate I know of in the group is Peter Ho, the banker.
The more interesting connection to several candidates is the West Coast Conference connection and in particular the St. Mary’s connection. Carl Clapp, UH Assoc. AD revamped the Bball program with the hiring of Randy Bennett. And Eran Ganot, ex-assistant of Bennet’s at St. Mary’s is one of Nash’s assistants.
Here are all the WCC/St. Mary’s possible UH candidates: Kent, let go at Oregon is an ex St. Mary’s coach; Gib Arnold was on staff at Pepperdine and LMU; Randy Bennet, St. Mary’s HC, Kyle Smith, St. Mary’s assistant. Clapp would know all of these guys.
This post is beyond awesome. I am always wondering what to do and what not to do so I will follow some of these tips.

Flower Pods are great wanting flower shaped audio system in your teen or tween’s room. Flower Pods could be easily hooked as much as your iPod, MP3 player or CD player, and are a classy accent to display. Flower Pods are shaped like flowers, with a stem and large green leaves, all made of soppy velvety material. The Flower Pods will be attached to your mattress, or desk by simply twisting them around.
I requested every teen I do know, “Should you had a gift card to spend in a toy retailer, what would you get?” I used to be surprised to seek out out that they’d need more than video games! Here’s a list of toys I love for teenagers, in no explicit order. (And no eye rolling! I promise.)
