What the heck
Well, at least it was exciting.
The Rainbow still are oh-for-2013 and, except for safety Marrell Jackson’s mysteriously wrapped left arm, they came away relatively healthy from this Vegas trip.
Tight end Jordan Pu‘u-Robinson, who is nearly healed from an MCL injury, even made the trip and should be ready for this Saturday’s game against … oh, wait, UH turned down the Colorado offer. Never mind.
That means another bye, and another week to dissect last night’s game.

What is the status of Kennedy T.?
Top 5 Good morning everyone!
Two weeks to get our 1st win vs CSU. Chow can do it.
TOP 5!!!!
Great character in the team!!! Many things can be said, but at least they never QUIT!!!
The future of the program will one day look back on days like this to remember those who sacrificed to build the program!!!
Ahhh…The (Warrior) Beat goes on!
Good afternoon everyone!
Good team effort. We get ’em next time.
When building, (i.e. buildings, body building, football programs…etc.) there are no quick fixes. Except those that are appear as flashes and are unsustainable (i.e. steroids and superficial improvements that crumble when challenged).
To build something correctly, takes time, patience, and a strong foundation which may not produce the immediate glamour and wins…but, in due time will grow into a solid sustainable program.
Hey 🙂 WB is up! 🙂
Guud afternoon, Tsai-kos and Lurk-ers! 😀
Yeah, talk about exciting! That’s quite an understatement!
We were hooting and hollering and I think we woke up the entire neighborhood!
Ha!
So it seems, we’re a lot closer than ever before
We’ve seen what possibilities exist
now they just have to believe they can do it all together
all at the same time
*and* play with waaay less infractions (penalties)
It’s a huge mental thing this fuutball game is, too 😉
You CAN do it, Warriors!
I believe in YOU! 😀
5, 6, 9; 3, 7, 8
Yep, gotta start somewhere!
I see more hope than ever before!
Sheesh! These baby steps over this uber long haul all mean it was not easy to get to this point! Sheesh!
May we never ever have to recoup our losses (btwn JJ to now) like that ever again!
OH, before I forget:
ITT!!!
Good luck to Las Vegas Nevada rest of the year.
And thank you Coach Chow for the exciting game.
And Rainbow Warriors, no hang your head in shame.
You did good. Real Good. Thanx.
See what happens when UH goes back to “Rainbow” Warriors. When they were known as Warriors they never had and 0-6 start. Can you say BACHI?
Warriors, Coaches, Tsai-kos, Lurk-ers:
This article says drink half your weight in ounces when performing normal sitting down work activities but double in take for more strenuous activities.
Avoid dehydration and unnecesary cramping especially during fb games!
Make sure you all drink enuff …wata!

Welcome back From the 9th Island!
Heal up! Beef up! Train Up! Den get chance foa win the next six! Go Bows! 🙂
Good evening!
Looks like I missed a good game while I was somewhere in the middle of the forest.
Gotta keep working hard and the wins will come.
Kinpira!
Happy birthday, Kekoa!
Whoo-hoo!!!
Lakalaka did good…..but still would like to see more reps for St. Juste…..especially since Lakalaka looked kinda gassed at times in the 2nd half.
OL did good…..despite the 6th different starting line-up in 6 games.
Probably the reason why there’s still false starts from the OL.
Since season is already have over…..hopefully the staring OL line-up is finally set.
Happy Burfday Kekoa,
Wow, what a way to lose… keep fighting… that elusive 1st victory is coming…. IMUA….. frustrating to see Big Sky Montana Coach beating UH, but that’s life…. 🙁
Meant “half over”.
Who cares? cant even win,or fill up the stadium. chow days are over including all you supporters just because hes local… pa-leeeease!! might as well drop UH to FCS then maybe just maybe winning will be on the horizon .
#30,
Did you care or believe back in 2007?
9-omg enough already!!!!!
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRFDAY TO YOU VERY BLESSED, KEKOA!!! 🙂
wafan – you were in a forest? how come?
9.. Your comments are right on! the trolls and haters don’t know what really went on before Chow arrived… Or maybe they were part of it.. They all claim to have inside info.. Really…Why do you think JJ left …
Yesterday was Lakalaka’s birthday? My girlie too!
Go Warriors!
Onward and upward.
35 – you have no idea what I know or what makes me think Chow is a disgusting human being. Things are not getting better. He is a cancer.
Still proud of the guys!
GO WARRIORS!!!
What, Chow used to take your guys lunch money when you was small kids?
Howzit, Gang!
Happiest of birthdays, Kekoa!!! Love & aloha to da ‘ohana! Was so good to see you guys, along with everyone else I previously met, as well as those I finally had a chance to meet for the first time yesterday! Don’t know about you guys, but I had lots of loud fun!
We are on the verge here. So many youngsters along with boyz new to this scheme. We are finally scoring again. Just gotta be more consistent. Can’t come out flat after the half.
Vegas was running a pretty fast offense. I noticed that often times they would snap the ball with just 15-20 seconds OFF the clock! Dang! No time to catch a breath! But when we started to do that, we moved the ball too! We need to shore up our run support and stop the rain of yellow hankies. Aside from that, I’m still excited for what our future can be.
Keep your heads up and in the game, Warriorz! That “W” is coming, and it’s gonna feel good!!! We’ve been much more competitive this year than previous years. Just gotta be more consistent and put it all together. When it all starts clicking… watch out!
Hope you’re all having a great day, everyone!
Wafan… glad you made it back out!
Were you guys looking for the Magic Tree House? Just wondering…
evening gang!
happy birthday uncle kekoa!!
wahine tie it up with under 2 minutes left …. going to ot
one play away.
can’t fault trayvon henderson. that penalty was not it.
just one play away.
btw…has anybody seen mr. ahouse?
darren was wondering.
Just looked over the MWC games played and the alarming thing that stands out, and has been mentioned last week was the uptempo offense is gassing the defense.
Basically, just about everybody in the MWC is running the uptempo offense, except for Boise. Problem is, nobody has the defensive talent or depth to handle the pace. A ton of MWC games have been super high scoring. Hawaii is no exception.
It’s one thing to say it but the data backs it up…UH does not have the depth at DLine to play well vs 85 or more snaps. In the last 3 MWC games, UH has given up around 200y per game on the ground. The biggest stat that’s stands out is the number of plays the defense has to play. UNLV ran 114 plays, and both Fresno and SJSU were around 90. Vs Nevada-Reno, UH held Nevada to its worst rushing total of 2013 not counting the FSU game. Nevada only was on the field for 64 plays. USC and Oregon St were under 83 plays each and the run defense held up. And that was before Uh showed any kind of offense.
Hawaii averaged a play every 18.2 seconds vs UNLV… That’s way too fast. The longest drive Hawaii had was like 11 plays and 3:28. That’s a play every 18.9s. UH ran 74 plays total… If they take just avg 7 seconds more to make adjustments/audible, that’s over 8:30 extra time of possession. Let’s assume slowing tempo by 7 seconds/play cuts down a couple possessions for both teams, UH would gain at least 5 min worth of TOP right off the top, plus it would reduce the number of play the opponent could run.
What’s doesn’t make sense to me is that Hawaii is running their offense faster than Oregon runs their offense. Plus Oregon’s whole roster was built to play fast. UH clearly doesn’t have enough bodies to go that fast all game. Watching at Sam Boyd, UH appears to only have 6 guys regularly rotaing on DLine. Samia, Saisau, Malpeai in the middle. Yap, Woodard and I think Tepa? (not in very much). I think Oregon uses 8 in their regular rotation plus a few more here and there.
Yap and Woodard rarely came off the field vs UNLV and they were getting whooped vs the run in the 2nd half. Both guys are decent pass rushers, but not big enough vs the run. I think MWC coaches are starting to run at them more… Hence the higher rush yards surrendered. Many of the big runs given up arein Yap and Woodard’s direction. The bigs are doing a good job clogging the middle, but the ends aren’t getting off blocks or are getting pushed around. The majority of Cornetts big runs started in the B or C gaps.
I watched a portion of the Patriots game today and they mix their tempo. They pick and choose their spots when they go fast. Chip Kelly isn’t balls to the walls with the Eagles. They play fast, but they take the time to make adjustments on most drives.
If the guys that innovated the blur offense aren’t running at breakneck speed, it makes no sense for a MWC team to go faster.
Getting it right is more important than trying to catch the defense sleeping. Besides, most MWC teams are uptempo now, to they are prepared to defend uptempo.
The box score shows Kennedy participated, but did not register any measurable stat. but I don’t recall seeing his number.
The again, it’s tough to ID the bigs as the number font is tough to read from a distance, especially when the middle portion of the number disappears as it gets folded up just below the chest plate of he pads. Everything looks like 8s and 0s.
uniform request #1 for 2014 is to use a font that’s easier to read. #2 request is to have throwback uniforms for homecoming game.
Wasabi and Manoa#1. Does it not strike either of you (if you are different people) that it is an act to cowardice to engage in character attacks with some veiled suggestion of privileged knowledge. If you know something have the courage to say it. Otherwise you just come across as someone with CDS (cojones deficiency syndrome).
Interesting stat I researched…
3rd and short play selection (3yds or less)
Run – 9 of 26 (35%)
Pass – 17 of 26 (65%)
3rd and short conversion success rate:
Run – 8 of 9 (89%)
Pass – 7 of 17 (41%)
Lakalaka has averaged 4.7ypc in MWC games… Me thinks UH needs to pound the rock on 3rd and short… Just saying. UH has been excellent at converting by rushing the ball. Even if Lakalaka doesn’t get the yardage on 3rd down, the odds a MWC defense stops him short of 3 yards on 2 attempts is small. SJSU did stop Lakalaka on 3 straight plays, that was the only failed rush attempt on 3rd and short all season. So that can’t discourage you at all.
Al, Mr. A-House will be reading these comments around 7:00 am tomorrow morning. My wager with him was straight up, so he’s getting a lunch on me this week.
Thank you Fan.. Your right on… I don’t know what kind knowledge they get but one of them said we had no chance to get Wily cuz he worked with his father. Actually I know guys who work with the dad so maybe I ask them .
Thank you to all the positive posters and supporters of the team. Those boys played so hard last night and never gave up. We should be proud of them instead of tearing them down. Every fan that was there last night saw how they played their hearts out.
There is no doubt that the guys go full throttle from the opening kickoff till the final whistle. That in itself only seems to show how committed the players are to this team. We’ve had teams in previous years where the players seemed to check out when the game got out of hand…have never seen that with this current team.
Giving up 350+ passing yards, 200+ rushing yards, and 39+ points per game should not be the norm, except at UH. Chow leaves the Defense to Caumeyer; arguably a questionable decision. Caumeyer will introduce another new system for the players to learn. The result will be the same, and Caumeyer will blame the players. Life will go on, status quo.
Proud of the boys.. feel bad for them . Their coach is inept.
It seems it’s always the little things that turn the team around. Offside penalties, key dropped passes, turnovers.
Did anyone read about the new Bowl game in the Bahamas? MWC will bein the rotation. I’m down.
