1. An attractive woman in her 30’s or 40’s who is on the hunt once again. She may be found in the usual hunting grounds: nightclubs, bars, beaches, etc. She will not play the usual B.S. games that women in their early twenties participate in. End state, she will be going for the kill, just like you.

2. A Cougar is a female, usually between thirty and fifty years-old, who enjoys the sexual company of younger men.

I think I heard someone at the party say we are the visiting team which means the team is wearing…white ‘n green unis. I go ask today. I’m sure our fearless leader will have that info on the blog or in an article. I’m still wearing my lucky Colt Brennan-signed shirt…green!

I am stuck trying to be environmentally good and a supporter of UH-sponsored sports – cannot do both. That means leaving in a few minutes to watch the first two basketball games and then driving back to Kailua to update my grant application – click my name for details – and then coming back into town to watch two more basketball games at 6 and 8 pm.

Although I had hoped to get a laptop or an iPad by now, my plans to upgrade my eight-year-old desktop computer system have fallen apart because of financial exigencies; thus, I’ll have to figure out how to keep the current system functioning for another year or two. If the grant comes through, however, then I’ll be able to upgrade right away, but the competition is super-strong – I’ll know in early January if our application has survived the first round of screening.

Hope to see some of you folks later on today’s basketball games.

Hawaii Bowl announcers on ESPN for Friday are play by play Ron Franklin and color analyst Chris Spielman. I think they are very good and especailly I enjoy Spielman’s comments. He seems to say good things about both teams and doesn’t make disparaging comments because he knows the game of football and has played at the highest level. I’m glad we don’t have Craig James. I was hoping for Joe Tessitore and Rod Gilmore because they have done a lot of WAC games but that’s o.k. If I’m not mistaken RonFranklin did the UH-Washington game in 2007 which capped off an undefeated season for our Warriors. What a game! Tomorrow, I’ll make my prediction on Friday’s game after some study, but I’ll give you a little birdie, there will be a lot of points scored and a lot of yards.

Tulsa is doing a “Tickets for Troops” thing similar to what SMU did yesterday. Boosters buy tickets to the game, that is counted toward their allotment, and the tickets are given to military personnel. Hopefully most of those tickets are given away and used.

It was my understanding that the Hawaii Bowl payout is around $330,000 with no ticket allotment. Again I believe this was initiated by Jim Donovan to make the payout more of a real number. As we know from the book “Death to the BCS” a million dollar payout usually means a sea of red for the teams involved in a bowl game because of the required ticket allotment. This is why it is so important to have the Warriors play in the Hawaii Bowl unless they qualify for a BCS bowl. Without the ticket allotment the Hawaii Bowl loses tons of money unless Hawaii is playing. Anyway I believe this is how it works here.

Tulsa’s practices may be being held in Hawaii’s home stadium, but they are being closely guarded this week.

Golden Hurricane coach Todd Graham is taking no chances on anyone taking notes of his team’s game plan in preparation for Friday’s Hawaii Bowl contest against the Warriors.

Graham reportedly is trying to keep anyone not affiliated with Tulsa football away from watching practice at Aloha Stadium this week.

Are we still doing the guess the score thing for the Bowl Game?

It is always GOOD to honor former Hawaii athletes as any aloha to them makes their time playing for you good folks feel worth while and special. #97 Ralph: We are going through HEAVY showers at this moment. Flood watch are every where as 10 inches has consume ALL of Los Angeles and still climbing. Thunder storms, heavy winds are in the forecast with many homes up in the hills having to be evacuated because of mud slides and floods above ground level has destroyed many homes. Flood insurance are only offered to those residents who live up in the hills as I am on flat land and just watching the recipitation as my neighborhood homes are all safe as we watch the flow of water become a river down our street.

Mud slides has DESTROYED many homes on the highland as cars, homes and animals has been severly damaged with many residents home less or others staying and sticking it out because all they have is their home. Home owners are signing waivers to not evacuate their homes as 24 hour emergency officials are out in force for search and rescue when flash flood warnings are no longer an option. Very sad to see these RAINS destroy people lives and their homes. We are projected to be through this by tomorrow with some sunshine coming Thursday thru Saturday. Six straight days of Heavy rains as God is looking over us with many prayers coming our way. Stay well good folks of ALOHA !

The thinking has always been that for high school graduates who don’t do well academically, there’s always the military, right?

Wrong, states a new national report.

A new study by the Education Trust states that among high school graduates, nearly a quarter who took Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery entrance exams between 2004 and 2009 nationally did not meet the minimum standard necessary to enlist in the U.S. Army.

The percentage is even greater in Hawaii: 38.3 percent, the highest failure rate in the nation, according to the organization.

The report released yesterday paints a grim picture of an education system that produces graduates who cannot answer basic math, science and reading questions.

This is so sad. No wonder they can’t even get into the University to play football!

If people were to ask me then why aren’t more people wearing these shirts.

First, shirts like these and at least 8 other similar designs outside the Under Armour brand of clothing are available at all Rainbowtique outlets, but people are more drawn to items on racks as opposed to designs on walls.

Secondly, what most people do NOT realize is that people my age and younger do NOT necessarily wear clothes just because they “look cool”. A name brand that is the trend or a plain shirt representing something they support will sell over a shirt that has a nice design that features something they are not supportive or interested in.

Take those designs I posted for example.

If you replace the words or symbols representing UH athletics or the university itself with something more popular on a mainstream level, I can guarantee you they would be selling very well.

The main issue with merchandise is that you need the product that it represents to be accepted by a wide demographic. Then if done well, you can sell —- on a stick.

#274 Sports for fun: I was getting all the info on Brads Blueberry. The game came down to a final shot as I haven’t heard from him since the final seconds of possession. I gather it was not good news as I know him and the team are hurting bad since you gave me the final score. Punahou has always been tough as I know the game came down to free throws and tough physical play.

Coming from far away he wanted to win bad not only for his players but for Australia. Hope he goes away with good memories of you good folks aloha and the experience of good competition from all the local Hawaii schools.
