Washington back to join Warriors
Willis Wilson, a running back with the Washington Huskies the past three years, is set to join the Rainbow Warriors.
There are several procedural steps that need to be cleared before it becomes official. If all goes according to plan, by joining as an initial walk-on, Wilson is expected to be eligible to play this coming season.
Cornerback Dee Maggitt was helpful after Wilson decided he wanted to transfer. Both were raised in Washington.
Wilson ,who is is from Lakewood, was a decorated running back at Lakes High. As a senior in 2009, he rushed for 1,425 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was named South Puget Sound’s offensive player of the year.
In 2010, he was named the Huskies’ scout player of the year.
He did not play in any games in 2011, and had one rush in 2012.
Here’s a highlight video: Willis Wilson
* * * * *
Word on the boulevard is that running back Diocemy Saint Juste posted great times in sprint drills yesterday.
Linebacker Drake Miller also did well in speed drills.
Hopefully this helps ease the loss of Will Gregory…can’t wait to see this stable of running backs get on the field…
Whoa! Top three.
Is it football season yet?
Go Warriors!
Top ten. Morning all!
The offseason conditioning program runs nine weeks, but there is a one-week period in which the S/C coach cannot initiate workouts. The players, however, may approach the S/C coach for help. A test of leadership and commitment will be next week, when the players are on their own.
Interesting listening to BC this morning about Warrior’s football program; its lack of good facilities as it relates to a successful program/season. We forget the successful years under coaches Dick Tomey and Bob Wagner (not ignoring JJ). Warriors had one ugly season – last season since Von Appen. Hawaii can and will have a winning program. That’s been its history. Winning conference championships has been illusive, but to say Hawaii cannot have a good football program is to deny its history. One bad season will not change its culture. The pieces are there to have a winning season this year. People will be surprised.
Great Morning All!
Need me some football…
This guy is actually legit… Might help somehow soon
Good get. Can always use depth and special teams contributors.
Did you notice I resisted going with the “Whatcha talkin’ about …” headline?
I actually might be maturing.
Where the heck is this boulevard? Good stuff to be had there!
The trouble with boulevards and streets is they’re all under construction at the moment.
Seems like this year is a completely different team from last year. The competition will be much more competitive with greater depth.
…avoid the dead ends
Imua Warriors!
d1:
It’s all about marketing. Dead end? No, that’s a cul-de-sac.
Interesting music track (Hey Delilah) Wilson used on his highlight video. Don’t mean to stereotype, but I was expecting some Dr. Dre. π
Welcome Mr. Wilson!
… Or as we used to say in the restaurant biz: Today’s bread is tomorrow’s croutons.
Shoko:
I believe in subliminal messages.
I think soundtracks to highlight videos should be tailored to a potential coach’s music preferences.
Here’s another video with Beethoven! I applaud his taste in music.

19. Good point there, sir.
This track seems more appropriate for a man of his age.

Isn’t classical music supposed to boost creative thinking in tots.
At least that’s the theory.
I suppose it’s better than Barney’s “I love you, you love me…”
Of all the recruits and newcomers, Dee Maggitt gets overlooked. He’s quite committed to the program. Last week he said he was going to Seattle. On Monday, I saw him at workouts. He said he attended his sister’s graduation, then came back. He didn’t want to miss workouts or summer school.
curveball:
our prayers to you and your ohana!
always miss you at our tailgates
I recall Maggitt had his last recruiting visit to UW before making a decision. Did the Huskies ever offer?
I’m fascinated with football players who wear jacket and ties for their bio pictures.
Then again, I often wonder why Hawaii lawyers can’t wear aloha shirts in court.
23. My Mom played classical music while I was still in her womb. That would disprove that theory…heh.
I was going to ask Maggitt about that once but he was in the middle of a tai chi routine. I wasn’t sure about the etiquette of talking to someone who was in mid-routine.
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Welcome Mr. Wilson!
ST – Is Willis a one-year or two-year eligible?
I think my mom tried to watch the Lawrence Welk Show. It didn’t work. I didn’t have a womb with a view.
Tom Mui:
He’s a Frank DeLima commercial: Two … two …
Wilson has a little bit of former Bow Gerald Green in his running style.
turfwar:
That’s a pretty good memory. I like that comparison.
#32 Good! good!
ST, your #27:
I believe there are certain days when attorneys are allowed to wear aloha shirts in court – maybe aloha Fridays?
t’was not so when Judge Mui held court.
Forgot to post this yesterday.
The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
Congratulations to the following:
Justin Clapp
Ben Clarke
Harold Moleni
Jordan Puu-Robinson

ST: is there a special reason that the 2012 football season schedule is still shown on the main sports page below your picture?
would not the 2013 schedule be more appropriate?
“I didn’t have a womb with a view.”
ROTFLMFAO!
welcome Willis!
the UDub program hasn’t turned out the way many had thought it would with the hiring of Sarkesian. same for Kiffin. the Pete Carroll coaching tree =(.
Shoko:
your #38 is a special tribute to those certain student athletes who excel in the classroom as well as in a sport – time management is crucial for all student athletes!
One of the best ever class I took at UH was Time & Motion studies – don’t know if it is still offered, but it should be a prerequisite/mandatory class for all students – I always fashioned my self as being organized, but I was so wrong – don’t matter if you are doctor, lawyer, Indian chief, or grass cutter or sanitation engineer – everyone will learn how to better organize their work and play hours
Hope we’re not implying everyone that served under Pete Carroll is not head coach material. π
41. What’s interesting is the newspapers haven’t made mention about the awards.
Good morning Tsaikos!!!
Welcome to Mr. Willis….
Watched Wilson’s reel. All I can say is “That’s what I’m talkin’ bout, Willis!”
Tsai could resist it, a lesser man such as myself could not.
Here’s another one for y’all – Warrior Willis Wilson – http://www.td.com!
GO WARRIORS!!!
Scholar Athletes. Excellent! Way to go, men! Thanks for that post, Shoko.
Former Warrior DB Guster Cunningham also went to Lakes HS with Dee Maggitt.
And last year’s spring walkon RB/LB Deonson Leatimua went to Lakes HS before transferring to Radford HS
Good Morning Warrior Fans!
Every morning we wake up to more good news!!!
Go Warriors!
Beat SC!
BTW…ST post # 31 is hysterical!!!!
#36 AHOUSE
Actually I wanted them to wear wigs and robes like the English barristers do, but I was overruled.
Jumong 3 & 4 coming in tomorrow.
Just as an aside, have you ever been to Gyeong ju?
Stephen, in your article in todays paper you said 13 of 14 Frosh recruits reported.
Dejon, Ammon, Keelan, Trayvon, Barry, Marcus, David Manoa, Drake, Diocemy, Kennedy, Elijah, John Wa’a, & Aofaga
KIrkwood is coming today or tomorrow.
Kwamane Bowen is coming next month
Rashaan Falemalu & Jamie Tags are grayshirted
Keti Salakielu & Aaron Zwahlen are on their LDS mission
Any word on Meffy Koloamantagi, Ualesi Sale & David Fangupo?
tom:
I guess the US jurisprudence system did not want to imitate “mother England”.
no; it’s a restaurant?
will bring 4 volumes of Jumong for you and wife to enjoy without waiting for netflix
Oops Jamie Tago
Big Wave:
I thought I read ST’s post that Fangupo had some “work to do” if he wanted to attend UH let alone fall practice – I interpreted that to mean academic – like SAT or ACT or core grades – wait, now, cannot be core grades as he’s graduated from HS.
A-House # 51
Not a restaurant – but there is a good one in that complex on Keeamoku where the Korean supermarket is located.
Gyeong ju was the capital of the Silla Empire. About 2-hours outside of Busan
Mahalo A-House, maybe the dreaded Alg II
Big Wave:
One of the players listed has been accepted into school conditional to completing an online class. He’s allowed to work out but he needs to finish the summer class.
The likelihood is Fangupo will have to grayshirt.
Good morning everyone!
Welcome Willis Wilson!
In the next month, we’ll be introducing some new recruiting terms.
Yes, we’re the one-stop place for entertainment, information and spam drama.
The 13 Frosh recruits that are here hail from 4 states, Hawaii, California, Utah & Florida
All fertile ground to establish pipelines
Let’s Go Bows!
Let’s Go Bows!
Let’s Go Bows!
We have a new guy working with us today…Jason Rivers.
Great highlight reel of Willis Wilson!
RE: #36 & #39
A-House and tommui — lawyer attire reminded me of a favorite courtroom shows…
My Cousin Vinny

Hmmm, a Tsai-ko remake of the movie might cast Tom as the judge and ST as Peschi… π
Golf spam
Howzit Tsaikos!
Welcome to the ohana, Mr. Wilson.
Weather did not cooperate today. Was supposed to take Screecher and friends out to the KBay sandbar. Everything was ready to go, then it started pouring. π
Shout out and Prayers to Curveball… heading towards the eternal stadium of winning seasons… True Tsai-ko…
Our collective prayers from our ohana go out to Curveball…. always a joy to be with even with your dry sense of humor. love the watermelon treats we used to eat π bless you my brother always,
Some chickens are good, like fried and teriyaki.
They should have done a Vinny part 2. That was a really good movie. “Herman Munster” as the judge was just a classic and Marissa Tome was is just a stunning Jersey girl!
I agree with a previous poster, this looks and acts like a completely different team from the one that was fielded last year and there are a great bunch of returnees to go with the new additions. Can’t wait for the new season.
jm2375 — Why let a little rain…wind…and seas stop you? You already had the boat, right?

BTW, Matt (in Petaluma) — if you see this, please send me an email at: stevem.hnl (at) gmail.com
Good Afternoon Folks!
Welcome to Willis Wison!
Highlights look very promising! Can’t wait for the season!!
Priceless @31: π
Tsai said:
“Then again, I often wonder why Hawaii lawyers canβt wear aloha shirts in court.”
You one funny guy, Tsai. Wassamatta you, you no like lawyers? You ever spend an hour in court in an aloha shirt? Brah, you would freeze.
My brother curveball peace be with you……
One, two, three inning for the Bulldogs. UCLA coming up.
Hard to cheer for the Uclans at anything but they are repping the West. Miss St hasn’t ever won a NC in any sport so it would be easy to pull for the underdog.
Ahhh….I working tomorrow. End it today Bruins! π
SteveM – MCBH Marina. Not spending money to go out on a lousy day.
Bless you, brother curveball!
curveball, thoughts and peace for you and your family
ST, Are Vasquez Haynes, Lataimua, and D. Washington on campus?
Welcome Mr. Wilson glad to have you and for all the new recruits on the fringe with your academics go get it done and be there at fall camp. I see a good culture developing with the football program from the difficult beginnings of last season. This team is going to win some games.
Welcome and a giant ALOHA to all UH recruits…you’ve just determined to play ball at one of the best schools and in the friendliest place on this planet. We support you and hope your stay here will be fun and productive and that the spirit of the Islands guides your efforts. IMUA
I guess it’s that time to “belly up to the bar”, huh? Does anyone need a drink?
Congratulations UCLA.
I agree with you Purple Maple!
66 days…damn I getting itchy!!
BEAT USC!!
I mean 65 days!!!
BEAT USC!!!
Prayers for Curveball and his Ohana! God be with you!
to my Tsaiko brethren,
as you know Curveball is not doing very well; let us lift him and his ohana in prayer. i am a better person because of my friend and Tsaiko brother, Gary Holden. may the peace that surpasses all understanding fill him and his ohana. let all Heaven rejoice when he enters the gates. Gary, i’ll see you on the other side, amene.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDUdYjXl0f8
Curveball… Gary Holden…. ready to pass… God Bless!
Shalom bro Curveball and your Ohana.
Just called the hospital. He’s sleeping and so is his ohana. Good.
Howzit, gang!
Been busy as can be, and still not caught up with all that needs to be done. Still trying to find funding for my son’s out-of-state fees at UH this year… big headache, even with that scholarship.
Main thing… Wanted to stop in to offer prayers for Curveball and ‘ohana.
Aloha, everyone!
I had to visit to add my prayers for Curveball. Please Lord, fill Gary with your Grace and give him peace.
curveball…prayers of comfort brother.
i’ll always reflect this greeting for you back in the cabana tailgate days.
“curveball…strike three he’s outta there!!!”
always gave us a chuckle didn’t it?
curve ball my thoughts and prayer be with you
Hey, read about the two 2014 recruits in the new post.
