Warriors land a slotback

Ellis Henderson, a wideout/cornerback from Skyview High (Vancouver, Wash.), said he will sign with the Warriors in February.

Henderson, who is 6 feet 1 and 180, has been told he will compete at slotback in training camp. He said he can run 40 yards in under 4.5 seconds.

Henderson, who also plays baseball, is the second cousin of Rickey Henderson, the Hall of Fame outfielder who is the record-holder for steals and run scored.

Here’s his highlight video: Ellis Henderson.

You’re right al. Lots of stuff floating on the blogs. Thanks for the info.

  8. Curt December 7, 2010 12:36 am

Looks like we have 2 slots (Henderson and Sampson) that fly faster than a speeding bullet.

  9. Ralph December 7, 2010 12:37 am

a high school with a nice indoor facility and we took several years before we got the old Cooke Field resurfaced. It’s not only the BCS schools who are out spending us, Skyview HS is a step ahead of UH.

  10. BleedGreen808 December 7, 2010 12:48 am

did I make the top 10?

  11. al December 7, 2010 12:50 am

    pollard was a pleasant surprise.

  12. BleedGreen808 December 7, 2010 12:50 am

Welcome to Warrior Nation Mr. Henderson!

  13. Ralph December 7, 2010 12:52 am

you just made it BG808, you left the tailgate early on Saturday, you must be busy finishing your “honey do” list since Saturday morning and you’re single.

  14. Ralph December 7, 2010 12:52 am

I haven’t heard much of Avery, I thought he was in the mix as WO

  15. al December 7, 2010 12:53 am

ralphie…as i understand it a multipurpose indoor facility is common place in the northwest high schools. they are typicall a half field. all turf sports use the barn during inclement weather.

  16. al December 7, 2010 12:53 am

    #14…case of the slippery ball.

  17. Ralph December 7, 2010 12:56 am

But for a HS to afford an indoor facility, half field or not, and having UH not affording to fix Cooke Field is a travesty. Thank you Ching Foundation, Herman Frazier you still suck!

  18. ai-eee-soos December 7, 2010 12:57 am

good news: speed, speed, and more speed.

  19. Ralph December 7, 2010 12:57 am

I read that Temple at 8-4 did not get a bowl bid, the curse of Herman Frazier continues at Temple.

  20. BleedGreen808 December 7, 2010 12:59 am

    Ralph–

haha. I heard you guys pulled an all nighter. Left around 10:30 and chatted with Jason, sjmarco, myki, and jm.

the lady was hungry and wanted me to stop by at zippy’s to buy her spaghetti. plus, I’m still not back on Hawaii’s time zone. Time zone is all screwed up.

  21. Ralph December 7, 2010 1:03 am

spaghetti! bring her to the tailgate and eat some “ono” food, then send her home so you can watch the football game. One last chance this season, the Sheraton Bowl.

  22. BleedGreen808 December 7, 2010 1:11 am

    Ralph–

Sadly to say I won’t be here for the game. Leave again next week and will be gone throughout the holiday. I will be watching or listening. We’ll see next year.

  23. BleedGreen808 December 7, 2010 1:15 am

  46. Ahchoo79 December 7, 2010 4:05 am

OMG! You all need to see Henderson’s You-tube highlights. He’s definitely the best player on his H.S. Team, and maybe one of the best offensive players in WA state. We need to lock him up asap! He probably gave his verbal after this weekend. BCS schools HAVE to be onto him, esp. The Huskies.

    ST,

thanks for dat video highlight of Mr. Hendersen….he got the speed of his uncle, which is very good. I see he plays on both sides of the ball, which says he’s one tough dude; He has that field awareness like all the other wr’s/slot’s who have worn the Warrior uniforms. Keeping my fingers crossed for the signed letter of intent.

  62. mctruck December 7, 2010 6:28 am

Our Warriors have got to put up a big win against, Tulsa. That will make a big impression upon recruits who might be unsure about signing on the line.

I think that UH has got to stop Tulsa’s bread-butter running game, just like they did with Nevada; stop the run and rush/blitz the qb.

  63. 808ike December 7, 2010 6:30 am

  79. gigi-hawaii December 7, 2010 7:20 am

winter is upon us. it seems to get colder and colder every day.

  80. RupertDaStupert December 7, 2010 7:24 am

Not to be a spoil sport. Most of our all WAC, or superstar football players were not heralded recruits. Mana Silva, Mo Moniz, Alex Green., Greg Salas, Kealoha Pilares, Cory Paredes, and Nate Ilaolla, Colt Brennan (heralded but unwanted after the Colorado problems) Davone Bess, Grice Mullen, Reagan Mauia, David Vaikune, Sampson Satele, Ashley Lelie, Chad Owens, and I probably missed some. The heralded big name recruits we got did not always become stars at the UH. So when I hear a “Henderson”, it remains to be seen if they can live out their reputations at the next level. By and large, most of our star UH football players were walk-ons or unheralded. I just want 6’7″, 340 ibs OL or DL who can be coached into becoming great players. 6’5″ receivers who don’t have to be super fast (look at Greg Salas) but have great hands because super fast receivers who can’t catch are nothing but track stars. Linebackers like Cory Paredes, David Vaikune, Travis Laboy who weren’t heralded like Mantai Teio but were just as good. Look at the punter we have now. He never played American football till he came to the UH and he can rocket the ball. The only position I might get excited about if they get a big name recruit is QB. I’d love to hear us recruit someone 6’5″, who can run like Kapernick, pass like Moniz.

  81. Michigan Warrior December 7, 2010 7:31 am

Curiousity got the better of me while looking at the Coaches Poll. So, I just had to take another look at where these voters come from…

    59 Total coaches:

    BCS Voters: (33)

    ACC – 6

    Big East – 4

    BigTen – 6

    Big12 – 6

    PAC12 – 5

    SEC – 6

    Other Voters: (26)

    C-USA – 6

Indy – 2 (Notre Dame & Navy on this year’s rotation)

    MAC – 6

    MWC – 4

    Sun Belt – 4

    WAC – 4

Another Look (based on majority of conference member’s states):

East Coast (ACC, Big East, SEC, Indy) – 18

    MidWest & South (BigTen, Big12, C-USA, MAC, Sun Belt) – 28

    West (MWC, PAC12, WAC) – 13

Hard to gain proper recognition when the majority of the voters are “over there” and most probably don’t even stay up to watch later west coast games, let alone Hawaii’s games.

    Just gotta keep winning!

  82. Mari December 7, 2010 7:33 am

I was moved to tears after reading the first two paragraphs in “Warriors crack All-WAC”. Thank you for the great article, Mr. Tsai!

  84. 808ike December 7, 2010 7:36 am

Some of you were looking for a title for Garret.

Garret—–ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF MARKETING FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

If UH wants to be recognized with the like of Texas, Notre Dame, USC, Ohio St. and etc., he has a ton of work ahead of him.

    1) Clean messed up marketing projects within the State.

    2) Work on new marketing projects within the State.

    3) External projects on the mainland and Asia.

He will need at least 5 asst. Dir. of Finances spend the money, the return will come back 10 folds. Projects can get accomplished with the speed of a race horse. The other option, don’t spend the money and UH can continue what it is doing right now– SNAIL SPEED.

If no money: SOLUTION–find the money.

Will leave it up to Garret to choose his asst.

Garret got your head spinning?————-(Nah, you’ve been thinking about it)

  85. Pomai December 7, 2010 7:38 am

Speaking of the coach’s polls, I don’t put much stock in any coaches polls because most of the time I doubt that they have the time to really look at any of the teams because they are preparing for their next game, even if they assign that to an assistant coach he doesn’t really have the time to evaluate the teams either, they are all to busy preparing for their games.

    Pomai,

In coaches poll, there is a lot of politics involved. Heard roomers of Big East coaches voting for TCU in the Championship game. Mostly as their #2 choice.

  89. Still disappointed from being left off the list of potential employees at T-University, but it’s time to move on literally & emotionally.

Finally got straight information about the Diamond Head Classic tickets. Is anyone here interested in one general adminission (open seating) ticket for the first two games on the first day – Mississippi State v. Wahington State and San Diego v. Baylor? DrDoc has to work but will be attending the two evening games. There’s at least a 3.5 hour break between Games Three and Four so a designated seat ticket is required for the evening games is required; however, evening tickets cannot be used to attend the day games.

Game Three is Utah v. Butler and Game Four is Florida State v. Hawai`i.

Long day today – two meetings at the Capitol and then a tutorial in social media followed by a three hour Roundtable on Biofuels at Honolulu Community College.Subcomittee collaberation with experts, professors and concerned citizens:

If you’re interested in beoming more adept at communicating with elected officials and decision-making administrators, please set aside a couple of hours on Monday evening, January 17, to take part in a very practical workshop. Details forthcoming.

    How scary is this?

Scores from the 2009 Programme for International Student Assessment to be released Tuesday show 15-year-old students in the U.S. performing about average in reading and science, and below average in math. Out of 34 countries, the U.S. ranked 14th in reading, 17th in science and 25th in math.

Those scores are all higher than those from 2003 and 2006, but far behind the highest scoring countries, including South Korea, Finland and Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai in China and Canada.

Especially when you consider how far down below the average UH stats, our Hawaii kids are.

    Aiyah! Poho… poho!

  96. Whoops!! general adminission = general admission

Have no idea where “Subcomittee collaberation with experts, professors and concerned citizens:” in the next to the last paragraph came from. Not my writing nor my words. BTW – the correct spelling is collaboration.

  97. Michigan Warrior December 7, 2010 8:18 am

Pomai, I just did it to prove or disprove my hunches… that not only the money, but also the votes, are heavier on “that” side of the continent. I may dig up info on the AP Poll as well, but I have a feeling those voters are laid out in similar fashion to the Coaches Poll voters, in regards to conference affiliation and geographic location.

  98. papajoe2 December 7, 2010 8:19 am

    I wanna be a T-shirt champ.

Last night, Danno finally said, “Be here… Aloha”, after the show.

The writers have finally toned down his whining a little. Now it’s bearable.

The last couple of new Five-0 shows had me on the edge of my seat. I’m liking how they are putting together these stories now.

After speaking with our attorneys, I have been given permission to dicuss the position that the Tsai-ko U. Board of Regents have reserved for you. You will be the President of a non-profit lobbying arm with a name to be determined at a later date. We submitted the papers for the group three months ago so should be receiviong word soon. You will be the key player in our government and community relations arm, and will function as a non-profit group seperate from the University. However, you will be required to come before the board once a month to give your montly SOORG reports. SOORG(State of the Organization)

    138. Most likely.

It is already known that we have commitments from Wrs Cecil Doe, Chris Gant, and Ellis Henderson. Based on my gut and seeing video, I think Gant makes a impact the soonest. He has a knack for the football and the end zone. Nevada offered and Oregon was coming hard on him in case Rahsaan Vaughn commits elsewhere.

    Steph, you gonna confirm soon?

Congrats to the three Na Wahine VB players on their selection to the AVCA’s All West Region 1st Team!

The Hawaii women’s volleyball team landed three players on the AVCA’s All-West Region first team announced today.

Senior setter Dani Mafua, junior hitter Kanani Danielson and sophomore middle Brittany Hewitt were named to the 14-member first team team.

It was the third time Mafua had been selected, the second for Danielson and the first for Hewitt. Danielson, the region’s freshman of the year in 2008, was a first-team All-American selection last year.

The three now are eligible for All-America honors which will be announced next week. </blockquotehttp://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/111463474.html

  164. papajoe2 December 7, 2010 10:57 am

I liked how Alex Green played this season. His running was mostly straight ahead and looking for his blockers. Not too much shaking and baking. His bolcking has always been awesome. Looks like he may make a good NFL running back with his skills. All these running back recruits look good on film, but will they master the blocking skills, ala Green, Mauia, Keleiikipi, Nasty, etc., to be successful in the UH program? It would be up to the individual to take the blocking seriously. The better they block, the more playing time they get. The more playing time they get, the more chances to run the ball. The more chances to run the ball……….

  165. Shoko December 7, 2010 10:59 am

    Wow,

Bubba is gonna be good wherever he’s put in to play. I was impressed just watching him this summer in unsupervised practices.

  167. d1島 December 7, 2010 11:04 am

    koakane,

Commented several times during this past season (ooh, hurts to say that!) that the pass pro immediately turned suspect once the offense stopped “being Green”.

    papajoe2,

I would compare pass pro to offensive rebounding, can teach the necessary skills but mainly it comes down to a matter of “want to”

  168. tommui December 7, 2010 11:05 am

I assume that the Miami Dolphin’s coach great comments on Devone Bess and the fact that he comes from UH helps our recruiting of receivers?

If not, we should publicize it all over the place!

  169. d1島 December 7, 2010 11:08 am

    Slugger,

It prolly doesn’t hurt that BSmith is coaching the RB’s…being a former Center he should be able to teach more than a few things about reading blitzes

    Your turn…

  175. al December 7, 2010 11:16 am

mack likes to bring in guys from the same school. the pairing of former teammates/friends is a great philosophy as it takes the sting out of living so far away from home.

here’s the runningback’s teammate who also came aboard last year via the walk-on route. yes, he too was a redshirt this season and oh by the way he was awarded the top scout.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlytpHmUup8&feature=related

  176. Shoko December 7, 2010 11:22 am

Well, hard to compare AG’s impressive game against NMSU that had a run defense that is ranked near the bottom. We have yet to see what Sterling can do if faced with the same situation. Guess to early to tell, but gotta have some reservations until proven otherwise.

  177. papajoe2 December 7, 2010 11:26 am

#171 a, yes, he runs like Alex Green, only not as big. He was advertised as 4.3, 40, but not too much evidence of that breakaway speed. I really like the way he runs though. Can he block?

  181. d1島 December 7, 2010 11:28 am

    Shoko,

AG benefitted schematically as well by the way NaMaSU chose to deal with the slot tandem. Doubling Salas and Pilares with LB’s and Safeties left nothing but green-painted dirt between him and the EZ.

Hope that next year the offense can present teams with a similar “pick your poison” scenario.

The Hawaii presentation to the polynesian club of Leuzinger High School was the most UNIQUE experience I have ever witness. I really enjoyed the diverse cultures of polynesian wealth that the young student body sat before me with beautiful smiles, complexions and anxious minds to know of their ancestry cultures. I was in the audience of BEAUTIFUL Samoans, Tongans, Fijians, Micronesians and Tahitians who were all born and raised on the mainland and has adventure out to all areas of Los Angeles before completing the final years

of their H.S education in the Hawthorne Unified School District.

I was the first to speak on you good folks of Hawaii as I MESMERIZE the young polynesian group and told the story of ALL the Islands and the WONDERFUL ALOHA that awaits them. I had pictures of the oceans and diamond head with an ariel shot of the University as the

packed audience grouped just GRAVITATED to every sound and word to OHANA and Oahu “the gathering place”that I will speak on. I even had speakers who were next to speak allow me to continue the wealth of your Islands as they too wanted more information on Hawaii and the magestry of it’s mountains, valleys and rainbow water falls. Fifteen minutes of presentation turned into FORTY FIVE minutes of loud applaudes with questions and answers that had me not even trying to sit down as they surrounded me with love, appreciation and affection.

During my departure MANY told me how they will SAVE all their money to come visit you

folks of Hawaii Nei as they want to find lost love ones or re-connect with family members that are on neighboring Islands as I could not ask for my day to get started then this presentation that I had schedule days back in which my name was reccomended.

Have a GREAT day good folks of Hawaii Fame as I certainly had mines bringing in the

Christmas Spirit with plenty of kama aina and sharing the WEALTH of polynesian hospitality

in which HUNDREDS of LA polynesian south bay students can’t wait to see Hawaii and share in it’s ALOHA SPIRIT !

Simply The Best, Better Then All The Rest !

Hawaii Five-O beat Castle again and won the ratings war. Some bone head criticized me in another blog that Five-O won that week only because Castle was on hiatus. Well Castle was on last night and was clearly beat. Castle without DWTS as lead in proves to be just an ordinary show. I joined (pending approval) “Long Legs O’Loughlin” fan club. Good stuff on Five-O, if approved for membership. I think Tulsa is a good opponent. They won the last 6 games. Might be the toughest team UH Warrors faced besides Boise.

yes, to all the doubters, he is headed for manoa and will be enrolled for the spring semester in 2011. in australia, the school calendar mirrors the actual calendar year, so he graduates this month.

he is technically a greyshirt come january as a pt student. in the fall he will be a fulltime student and you’ll see him in training camp. he will redshirt the 2011 season while he learns the nuances of american football.

Hawaii Five O was good last night. I like how they didnt rush the episode.

Still find some cheesy/forced parts tho. Like when Kono and Chin Ho had a little exchange about Chin Ho’s love interest and how she wasnt there for him or something like that.

    Next week’s episode looks promising.

I don’t care about hearing we got a super recruit. Most don’t end up being stars at UH. Hawaii super recruits that thumb their nose at UH and go elsewhere doesn’t bother me anymore. I love to see the boys that stay home albeit not top rated. And watch the UH coaches mold them into superstars on the field and off the field. Ditto the mainland little known recruits. I just pleased as punch watching unknowns turn into top tier players. I will go into withdrawal when football season ends.

  193. Michigan Warrior December 7, 2010 12:13 pm

  194. A-House December 7, 2010 12:19 pm

Me thinks, and that’s bad news, that ESPN, the 2,000# gorilla of TV sports world, who also owns part or all of the Hawaii Bowl, and the pending move of UH to the MWC, INCREASE the Hawaii Bowl payout to at least $1.2 or $1.5 million which would elevate the Hawaii Bowl and the MWC to higher levels. Bring in higher seeded teams from the PAC 12 or BIG 12 to play against the MWC representative. They can alternate.

Sould all things fall into place, Hawaii could be a major player/contributor to the MWC’s success in gaining AQ status and join the “big dance”.

I do hope that UH’s management team stresses, politely, to the MWC that, if successful, the terms of the entry agreement be renogiated in 3-5 years, if not sooner. Hawaii will be, IMHO, a greater contributor than Boise St, Reno, and Fresno St for the MWC – the potential is much greater, especially if UH can secure part of the Asian sports market – Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, and Singapore. Beautiful TV shots of Hawaii can translate to residents saying, “yes, we were there”; let us tell you about our visit to Hawaii!!!!!

Best way is to get athletes to marticulate to UH and excel in whatever sport they are most proficient in – must have a ton on very good Korean lady golfers; very good baseball, softball, volleyball players in Japan; very good volleyball, basketball, swimmers in China and Taiwan. Hey, maybe, students from China and Taiwan can someday contribute to the unification of “China” and same can be said of the Korean penisular. Who would have thought that student athletes who forged/developed friendships at UH, who later become important leaders in their respective Nations, be the catalyst of peace in Asia.

I approach this from a sports perspective, but scholars in every field can come to UH, learn, make friends, and contribute to UH’s TV success in Asia and in international affairs.

That would make the PAC 12 drool and kick their asses for not being visonaries in asking Hawaii to be a member!!!

While I believe the move to the MWC to be a significant one for UH, their place should be in the PAC 12 – Ok, you can laugh now, but heed my post!

I participated in 3 very important separate US military conferences with military brass from all the Far East and Indian sub-continent who elected to attend where the expressed purpose was to share ideas and hopefully translated into no armed conflict between those participating nations. In the latter years, we had representatives from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Russia. They were COLs or General Officer rank and today should be military leaders in their respective countries. Initially, it was touchy, but representatives from countries who were leary of each other became cordial. South Korea did not want any North Koreans in attendance.

I wanna be a T-shirt champ (and if I win, I will donate to one of the red shirts who got their WAC Champs gear taken away, or never got it).

Thanks to all those who have shown great concern for my post yesterday. For those who missed it….this was my concern…

“It has been brought to my attention that in the craziness that came along with senior night, not all players received their championship gear. All of the red shirts, who have all season been told they were an important part of this team, did not receive their WAC Champ hats. Some even had them ripped from their hands, all the while other players and people on the field were stuffing 3-7 extra hats under their shirts! Not the best way to treat the future of UH football. All season it has been preached that they are part of the team, but they miss out on this. I find this sad and hope that there is either players who will cough up the extras they may have taken for friends- who played no actual role in the football season, or there is someone out there who will make the situation right.”

Curt, thank you for getting in contact with Coach Mac. I have yet to hear back from the red shirts on the situation, but when I do, I will let you know.

Hope you are all havin a great day!

Five-O and UH Warrior Football means more to me than entertainment. It has therapeutic value. As Five-O and UH football goes, so does my morale goes. It’s a miracle casting for Five-O. Watching Alex O and Scott Caan interact is preciout, a miracle. Like Tony Randall and Jack Klugman in the “Odd Couple”. The brilliant miracle genius writers, Orci, Kurtzmann, and Lenkov have created a miracle. Brilliant! Like watching a pass from Moniz to Salas! A miracle. Brilliant! Priceless! A miracle! Just like this blog. This blog is brilliant, a miracle!

I want to pass on my thoughts and thankfullness for all the American soldiers, their families and especially the survivors living and passed for their dedication to our freedom.

On a lighter note, put me on the facility/parking lot/ design team.

Boy I’d put in some permanant BBQ pits, with proper sinks and collection of waste for those on the outside ring. Some trees for shade would be a good start.

Any more thoughts. Neva mind that the stadium authority would not support this idea but just THiNk ABOUT IT.

Sometimes I believe the saying that Leo Durocher uttered, “Good guys finish last”. Derek Tatsuno bright college didn’t transfer to the major leagues. Colt Brennan never getting an honest shot with the NFL. And obnoxious people like Mike Tyson and Terrell Owens getting chance after chance after chance.

    I Wanna Be a T-Shirt Champ.

The name Henderson gives me some good vibes. You always think of Tom Henderson and more recently Demetrius (Doe) Henderson. To Ellis Henderson, welcome on wanting to be a Warrior. Don’t change your mind. A commitment is a commitment. Maybe Ricky Henderson will donate some funds for the football as well as baseball program. Is Ricky tight?

The future is bright if new players like Beau Yap, Moses Samia, Kody Afusia, T.J. Taimataua, Dee Maggit, and others who are redshirting turn out to be excellent players. Rolovich, Mouse, and Mac has to decide if we need to go out and start looking for the next great Hawaii Quarterback. During the coming year, either Graves, Shutter, Nielson, or Spain has to show great improvement to start taking over from Moniz the following year when we go into the Mountain West. College football today requires QBs to be both a good runner and passer. Dual threat QBs are ideal for spread offenses, shotgun, pistol, rollouts, bootlegs, etc. It makes defenses difficut to contain.

Hawaii is listed as a 13 point favorite over Tulsa. Both teams have similar offensive statistics. Hawaii has a better statistical edge on defense. Basically, based on today’s spread I would take Tulsa and the points. 13 points is just way too much. I have been on Hawaii all season, but I look at this upcoming game as pretty much within 3 to 4 points based on Hawaii’s home field advantage. My reasoning is Tulsa is on a 6 game winning streak and they beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame. Utah could not beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame. That alone to me, is very impressive by Tulsa. Hawaii will have to play very well to win this game and it just will come down to a field goal as time expired. I can remember not too long ago when Tulane came in and just took it to Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl. It was a bad game for us and J.P. Losman from Tulane had a very good game. Timmy Chang didn’t play as well. So, we need to be careful because Conference USA teams are very good. Remember when E.Carolina and Chris Johnson beat Boise St., and when SMU beat Nevada last year. When these teams are underdogs in a bowl game, the underdogs play hard and are probably more motivated because they want to prove that they can compete and can win any ball game. The favorite, oftentimes, think that should win and are not as focus.

Just a thought. Back then when Five-O was filming, Jack Lord designed and copyrighted a beautiful karatclad 5-0 badge. He donated many to charities to auction off. I bought one for $200.00. It was better looking than the HPD badge. In 1989 I had to sell due to poverty. Guess who bought it? An HPD officer who craved that prized item. He paid $200.00. Jim Donovan, how about asking CBS if they would sell 100-200 5-0 badges to you. Can be used at Murphy’s pigskin auction, can be used to entice valued recruits they’ll get one if they choose UH Hawaii. I don’t know if the reboot is using a special badge but just a thought,.

Although I would have preferred McMackin win the WAC Coach of the Year, I think Ault was a good choice. His pistol was the probably the most influential offensive innovation in the NCAA this year. Would UH have had a 1000 yard rusher without it? It was clear even in JJ’s last year that lining up behind the QB offered a number of unique options and allowed the RB to block better (might have been useful in the Sugar Bowl) and get a running start with a wider field of vision.

Wow! Maybe plan on being nice to the Tulsa faithful who make their way over for the game.

    From tulsahurricane.com

The package includes four nights in the official TU team hotel, airport and bus game transfers, pre-game ESPN bowl game tailgate party, lei greeting upon arrival, game tickets and all taxes. The land-only package cost is $794 per person plus airfare, based on double-occupancy.

RT airfare on Orbitz right now from Tulsa to HNL at $1019 per person.

That’s $3626 for two before you eat anything or buy a single T-shirt!

  270. d1島 December 7, 2010 5:42 pm

To support their effort at filling their ticket allotment

Fans unable to attend the game can purchase tickets and donate to our Armed Forces in the “Tickets for Troops” campaign. The University of Tulsa and Conference USA have partnered with the Hawaii Bowl to create a distribution plan for any tickets that fans would like to purchase to donate to military personnel. The tickets that Hurricane fans purchase to donate will be distributed within the five military branches to groups located on and around Oahu.

Tulsa HC reaction to their invite.

“We’re very excited about the opportunity to go to the Sheraton Hawai’I Bowl and play a quality opponent in a 9-3 (statement made before the UNLV game) Hawai’i team,” said Tulsa Head Coach Todd Graham. “Hawai’i is ranked in the top-25 nationally, and for us getting the opportunity to win a Bowl game like this against a top-25 team would be awesome for our program.”

“Hawai’i is a very tough team. They have a tremendous program and some great players. Hawai’i does a great job and have had some big time wins. The location is a very special destination for us and naturally playing such a great team in Hawai’i and having an opportunity to compete for a big win is huge for our program,” said Graham.

Whenever I have the opportunity to speak to young local athletes venturing off to play a college sport, I always share the same message. No matter what sport, what level of play, that message is always the same.

Perseverance. Attitude. Perseverance. Attitude. Perseverance. Attitude. Perseverance. Attitude. Perseverance. Attitude. Perseverance. Attitude. Perseverance. Attitude.

Persevere. Hang tough. Hang on. Work hard. Be ready. Your time will come. You’re a freshman, don’t expect the world to be given to you right off the bat. Hang on.

Always be positive, have a good attitude, it affects your play. It affects your playing time. always have a good attitude. Allways have a great attitude.

I wonder, are there any little birdies out there who know what time that meeting will take place, and how long afterwards it’s expected to be until we learn the results?

After all this waiting it sure would be great to see UH announce a press conference for tomorrow afternoon!

Bighilofan2, mctruck, michigan warrior, and tommui: Thank you for the accolades to my Hawaii presentation to the polynesian club. I really get MOVED in talking about you folks

I kinda new this morning on my way to the assembly that I was going to INSPIRE because I listen to the Cazimero Brothers “Waikiki By The Sea” blasting loud and clear on streets and freeways as there is no better Hawaiian music to feel your heart too the sounds and harmony of Robert and Roland Cazimero.

Here in Los Angeles I am just PROUD to represent the 808 and when called upon to speak on your behalf I really talk not only on knowledge of Hawaii but from my own experience of living with you good folks WAY BACK in which I played for the Rainbow Warriors and received

a WONDERFUL education from the University. I can’t thank you enough for that experience as I share it to others so that they too may travel and experience the WEALTH of your aloha !

Finally, I would like to say to all you GREAT folks of Warrior Nation that I don’t get to say at all here in Los Angeles and that is this wonderful phrase that I love to hear at this time of year “mele kaliki maka and hau ‘oli makahiki hou” !

#86 808Ike: Mahalo kind sir for your title to Director for scouting athletics for Hawaii. I would certainly know where to hunt the talent down here in LA. Very considerate on your part to award me with this distinguish honor. Be well and continue to support your Warriors !

  291. RainbowCliff December 7, 2010 6:42 pm

OH Mr A House Sir !

ALWAYS a pleasure as I can recall our FIRST meeting in Las Vegas that I just sat down to the nearest empty seat and it was right next to you as we shared great joy and laughter as I could not ask for a greater Hawaiian person after 26 years absence of any local gathering.

Will ALWAYS treasure that moment and meeting your WONDERFUL family. Will look forward to seeing you, mrs. a house, masa boy and the vibrant midori 7 in Vegas next year and I will have another leather as my gift of appreciation !

Take care and continue good blessings !

Hello everyone from J-E-T-S land! Okay, I just saw something strange on Jimmy Kimmel Live…let me know you guys stay up late enough to see this. BUT, he ran a clip of Donald Trump sitting in Robert Kraft’s booth last night at MNF, and Donald’s hair is BLOWING in the wind. Then he calls it something like “the Wave,” and they show a clip of what I SWEAR is Aloha Stadium and our crazy fans doing the wave. Funny! 🙂

  294. bighilofan2 December 7, 2010 7:04 pm

  299. RedZone December 7, 2010 7:20 pm

The Tulsa quarterback a transfer from Texas had Manti grabbing air. He is not the most athletic runner but is very effective in getting the first downs when they need em.

I want to bea T shirt Champ

    Rainbow Cliff,

Keep up the good work my friend!

  302. Curt December 7, 2010 7:38 pm

    CoachTiff,

Coach Mack responded back to me earlier today. He appreciated the info and was not aware of the situation that you brought up with the hats. He emphasized that the redshirt players are definitely part of the team and very important to our future. He said that he would look into the matter and take care of this problem.

Mahalo CoachTiff for highlighting this issue. Take care.

  303. Curt December 7, 2010 7:39 pm

    I want to be a t-shirt champ!

  304. bighilofan2 December 7, 2010 7:43 pm

day you go, CoachTiff. day you go! 😀

lessee da follow through, coach. follow through. da redshirts gotta be talkin da good stuff.

  305. CoachTiff December 7, 2010 7:44 pm

bighilofan2: I do not live in the islands… I am on the mainland, so I am not there to directly distribute hats. Maybe if they were taken to the offices, or to coaches, they could distribute them. I have again encouraged the players to speak with mac about the situation, but they have yet to be able to. I was told there were 20-25 players who did not dress for that game, and therefore were not given the WAC Champ gear. Thank you to all of you who have expressed concern and are standing behind the red shirt warriors.

  306. CoachTiff December 7, 2010 7:47 pm

thanks Curt! I am sure the boys would be grateful that you sent the email on their behalf. So i guess my above post doesnt really matter any more. :0)

    Go Warriors!

  307. Shoko December 7, 2010 7:48 pm

    D1 #182,

I think NMSU had no choice in the matter and decided to pick the lesser of two poisons which was countering the pass attack. Unfortunately, that lesser of two poisons was stronger than they anticipated (ala Green’s 327 yards). That said, I look forward next season to improve its run game. Da Run & Shoot Plus? 😉

  308. Shoko December 7, 2010 7:52 pm

If Hawaii can shutdown Nevada’s Kap, Idaho’s Borel and UNLV’s Clayton, Hawaii shouldn’t have a problem with a running QB. Well, thats what I noticed of the Warrior defense.

  309. Shoko December 7, 2010 7:54 pm

Anyway, good night folks. Long day tomorrow 🙁

  310. bighilofan2 December 7, 2010 8:02 pm

  318. bighilofan2 December 7, 2010 8:39 pm

    Off topic… for the tourists..

a most excellent drive on the big island is to go to Pahoa, turn left (towards the ocean) at exactly the 10 mile marker, drive down Kahakai Blvd., go all the way down to the ocean, turn right (east) and go on the unpaved road, along the shoreline… Start the trip about 4 pm down Kahakai Blvd, get to the bottom about 4:15pm. the trip on the unpaved road takes about 20 minutes, ends up at 4 corners, at the bottom of Kapoho.

the trip would be at/in the dusk, through towering mango trees and other kind trees with bird nest plants in the trees and alongside old rock walls and the ocean visible in parts… just an awesome old Hawaii kinda ride.

like my brother told me two weeks ago when I took him there, his first time. THANK YOU!

  319. bighilofan2 December 7, 2010 8:46 pm

    Off topic.. for the tourists…

get samoa and plenny kine fab spots on da big island for see. Mauna Kea at nite. Kaohe game management hunting area drive, in da day. da Mana Road, but need escort. da Mauna Kea Beach Hotel resort. walkin da lava flow field in da early nite with flashlite, walking from the Kalapana side. da hot ponds of Kapoho, in da early morning about 7 ish.

#301- Momo – I love protea. A couple years after Iniki, we went to Chicago in March to promote tourism on Kauai. Part of that promotion was sharing the first websites dedicated to selling cut tropical flowers from Hawaii. The Kauai growers did not participate much- it was the beautiful protea from Maui that knocked everyone’s socks off in the cold and windy city.

Looking forward to hearing more on your adventures in protea!!

To quote from the article at: http://www.daily49er.com/sports/lbsu-s-gimmillaro-big-west-would-benefit-from-hawaii-1.2354295

Dennis Farrell, the Big West commissioner, said Monday morning that the discussions haven’t gone too far, and that any negotiation process would take “months, not weeks.”

“We’ve had a couple of informal conversations with the athletic directors, but first Hawaii needs to decide what it’s going to do with its football program,” he said. “We’re satisfied with having a nine-member institution, but do we want to expand to make [the Big West Conference] better?

This doesn’t make sense to me.

UH could place football in the MWC, stay in the WAC, or go independent. This should have no bearing on waiting to pull the trigger to cross the T’s or dot the “i’s” with the Big West, because it’s a no-brainer that the Big West, with regards to travel expense, is the most viable financial situation for all of UH athletics.

No matter the football conference for UH, keeping non-football sports in the geographically expanding and UNSTABLE WAC is just asking for the death of your entire status as a Division I NCAA university.

I was performing home laser hair removal applications for at least a year at present on my facial hair. Until then I had quite a heavy dark beard. I am proud of the final results. The hairs are quite thin and I haven’t gone back for re-application in about a few months. I will mention that it did feel painful a little bit on my upper lip and there seemed to be instances where I got some inflammation on my face. I recommend Intense pulsed light to those with heavy hairs or have got large areas of hair they want to eliminate. For the guys that might like to do their rough facial beard be prepard for patches in the coming several weeks and lots of people saying man whats up with your beard.

  363. Claudio Gonska December 9, 2010 10:47 am

I was performing nono hair removal applications for more than a year at this point on my facial hair. Before I had a thicker dark beard. I am excited about the results. The actual hairs are extremely thin and I haven’t gone back for re-application in approximately 6 months. Let me point out that it did hurt just a bit on my upper lip and there were occasions that I had some inflammation on my neck. I suggest Ipl to people with heavy hairs or have got large spots of hair they want to eliminate. For the guys that might like to do their rough facial hair be prepard for patches over the coming months’ time and lots of people saying dude whats wrong with your beard.

As a teenager, your insurance will typically be much higher than older people. I know of companies like The Hartford, which give good student discounts on car insurance to drivers under 25, so can check with them if you can avail that. If you are staying with your parents, you can ask them to get the car insurance in their name and add you on as an occasional additional driver. This will reduce rates for you. The Hartford also gives special rates to AARP members, so if your parents are members, maybe you can save some money there.

  401. britax marathon infant car seat December 17, 2010 6:28 pm

We have a Britax Boulevard. It’s really easy to install and we love it. We still have it rear facing and it’s so secure it doesn’t budge. My son seems really comfortable in it. The straps are easy to adjust and I feel so good knowing that he’s safe…even in a side impact crash (this is one of the only seats on the market right now that offer excellent side impact protection). The only thing I dislike is the shortness of the crotch strap, but apparently it’s that way so that the other straps lay more accorss the baby’s thighs instead of their tummy. Overall it’s a great seat.

I assume Aol. Need to be both the most beneficial plus the worst with the yr. It’s the best, mainly because yes, it will be noticed probably the most. It also does set a future for that brand, very distinctive from their past as Net, Inc. It is also pretty inventive; it will be extremely distinct. It should be the worst although because the execution is horrible. The idea, on the other hand is imaginative, just sucks. There exists very little cons istency, as well as the wordmark bores me.

Why? Due to the fact I was pleased to d iscover how well-designed and entertaining to make use of the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
