Tradeoffs

In traveling a day earlier, the Warriors will be giving up a full practice with their scout teams. But by leaving tomorrow afternoon, the tradeoff is the Warriors will have an extra day to get acclimated to Boise. UH associate head coach Rich Miano said the Warriors enjoy traveling because there are fewer distractions on the road. With a 3-1 road record, there probably is something to that.

The Warriors have  yet to have a bye this season. While there are numerous wear-and-tear injuries, the tradeoff is the Warriors have enjoyed the consistency — and momentum — of playing every week. As head coach Greg McMackin pointed out, sometimes a bye week means having to regain timing.

  1. Garret November 2, 2010 7:18 am

BSU is getting a new “coach” for their game against UH.

Boise State football coach Chris Petersen and the Broncos granted the wish of 12-year-old Stephen Kinsey of San Antonio, Texas, who is battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

His request: To be a coach for a day with Petersen.

He’ll spend part of Friday with the Broncos and watch Saturday’s game — a critical contest for Boise State — from the sideline with his dad, Bryan. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho arranged the details.

Petersen, whose son Sam received a wish while he was being treated for a brain tumor, seems eager to give Stephen a weekend to remember.

Petersen’s wife, Barbara, is a Make-A-Wish volunteer. She has been involved in planning Stephen’s wish.

The Warriors have done a good job on the road this season. Traveling a day early really seemed to pay off at Utah State.

After the bye week, UH will have:

    SJSU

    NMSU

    UNLV

UH can afford to lose some timing from their bye week with SJSU having so many injuries. The week off will be good for the players to heal and get mentally refreshed.

LizK I guess that means you won’t vote for anyone because they all run them, but seriously you should not let that stop you from voting, you need to base it on what the person stands for that you agree with. But for those that don’t vote, no grumble.

early acclimating is the buzz term after playing colorado.

when Sept. 20th 2014 is around the corner, ( if the Colo. game agreement is still intact), That buzz term should be on the wall before labor day weekend.

Garret: Great story about Petersen and his Make-a-Wish contributions. As much as I don’t like the football team in Boise, I think their coach is a class act.

Beat Boise! Bust the Broncos! Go Warriors!

  36. Okole Maluna November 2, 2010 8:50 am

    HawaiianTime:

That website may not be updated if ESPN “not agree” to permit a simulcast.

Maybe Oceanic should just give ESPNU for a day to make those establishment and indivisuals who paid Big Bucks PPV.

  37. Okole Maluna November 2, 2010 8:53 am

    A-joe:

So is Big City Diner unless they upgraded from basic only.

#34- so… perhaps I need to clean my house and invite people over to watch on Dish???

  39. Ronnie November 2, 2010 8:53 am

I think Boise is a very good team who have won alot of games. I think they have dominated the WAC while they have been here. That may foster the attitude that no one can beat them. Since no one has this year, they have the right to think that. I think they have a great coaching staff coaching a system that works for them. I think that they will bring their A game this Saturday.

I think our A game will beat their A game this Saturday and we will be WAC Champions once again!

  40. Okole Maluna November 2, 2010 8:56 am

Good thing I have ESPNU or our tailgate at 9:30 AM will be moot with No Show on PPV Ch 1255!

Check to see if CK Lounge has multiple feeds.

Kalapaki Joe’s in Poipu has multiple screens. Some carry Oceanic PPV, some carry DTV PPV and some are just regular cable I think.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/31602/hawaii-putting-together-special-season

    Some love from Andrea Adelson

The defense has played well, too. Hawaii has given up 30-plus points twice this season, and just 17 points in its past two games. Of their two losses, the first was a valiant effort against USC, in which Moniz had to sit out the fourth quarter because of a hit to the head. The second was at Colorado at the end of a 12-day road trip that also featured a win at Army — the furthest East the program had ever traveled.

That last loss — Sept. 18.

“Hawaii’s playing as good as anybody out there,” Boise State coach Chris Petersen said. “They’re on quite a roll.”

One last note to remember: Hawaii is the last team to beat Boise State in the regular season, 39-27 on Nov. 23, 2007, in Honolulu.

  53. Pomai November 2, 2010 9:27 am

Okole I think that it is closer to what it will end up at, but I would rather see Ipu man’s score, we need to out a butt whipping on the spudette’s.

Hope it is not too cold. It was at West Point where Mrs A-House and Midori7 used by “sitting” fleece blanket to cover up while seated in the stands waiting for the “Long Grey Line” parade. Did you enjoy those parades? Heard tell that 4 Regiments were used in honor of the Hawaii fans – quite a compliment and very heart warming – usually only 2 Regiments are used.

We will be traveling to the Udub game next September and look forward to seeing you and Mrs again!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GIGANTICS! It took a long, long time, but we are definitely savoring the moment.

To respond to the query about Neil and smoking dope: I first met him when he ran for the United States Senate in 1970 – I was supporting his “green” opponent in the Primary, but we became close political colleagues after that. Back then, Neil was a superb athlete – a weightlifter and wrestler. I don’t remember that he even drank and certainly he did not smoke anything.

For those Tsai-kos who smoke cigarettes today – assuming that you smoke a pack a day and buy them at Costco, if you were to quit and then donate the cost of your cigarettes on an annual basis to the Department of Athletics for the Wahine softball program, you would be writing a check for nearly $2,800. That could pay the summer school tuition for six team members.

FYI – almost 440,000 people die each year in the United States from smoking-related causes. In Hawai`i, almost 1,200 die each year.

Contratulations again to the Wahine volleyball team – it’s too bad that they don’t have the kind of opponents during the regular season that the other top teams do. But they will prevail.

Anyone here going to Las Vegas for the WAC tournament?

Off to vote and then to do some food prep for tonight’s celebration.

  62. Ronnie November 2, 2010 10:16 am

  66. Garret November 2, 2010 10:20 am

The Big East is going to 10 football schools. Villanova can move up for 1 spot, which means they have 1 spot open to invite a team from outside of their conference. That would mean 17 basketball teams…unless they follow through on their threat to Notre Dame to be all sports or none in their conference.

The Big East conference has unanimously agreed to expand the number of football-playing schools to 10. The Big East made the announcement after Tuesday’s board of directors meeting in Philadelphia.

Commissioner John Marinatto says potential expansion candidates will start to be evaluated. The 16-member Big East has eight teams playing football. The conference informed Villanova in September that it wants to add them to the conference.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101102/ap_on_sp_co_ne/fbc_big_east_meeting

  67. Garret November 2, 2010 10:22 am

If Villanova doesn’t want to move up to D-IA, then Houston or Central Florida could be invited to the Big East…which could mean that La Tech goes to C-USA.

Just read that JaMarcus Russell had a free agent tryout with the Redskins. I guess Colt Brennan did not impress the coaching staff in preseason to merit a call back. Oh well.

Anyway is Colt still on island?

  70. Garret November 2, 2010 10:27 am

Paul Tagliabue (former NFL commissioner) has apparently been hired by the Big East to help them through this expansion period and Tagliabue has been evaluating expansion candidates since April.

  71. koakane™ November 2, 2010 10:30 am

those traveling to the Idaho for the game expect a large group of Hawaiian alumni who played for Boise. many have been invited to attend this game also a beeg tgate in front of the stadium to honor them. Boise going all out to insure they win this game. Me thinks they are worried about the dem warriors.

  72. Pcwarrior November 2, 2010 10:31 am

confused and need help…i have PPV for away games only. I received letter yesterday 11/1 from Oceanic stating ESPNU will be simulcast on ch 255. But letter was post dated 11/2. Then I read Ferds article this morning-no agreement yet.. Was the letter mailed prematurely? Can someone clear up the situation? gotta make plans…

  74. Garret November 2, 2010 10:33 am

If Villanova moves up to D-IA, then the Big East needs only 1 football team but doesn’t want anymore basketball teams. They could try to get Notre Dame to include their football team, but when Notre Dame declines, they could invite Navy to be a football-only member…

  75. AlaWai November 2, 2010 10:40 am

Garret #1. The Warriors should take along some makana to Stephen from Hawai`i. Lei, Chocolate Mac nuts and an invitiation to the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl presented by the team after they perform the Ha`a in his honor for being a warrior. Maybe Hawaiian Air and some Sheraton can collaberate on a package. It’ll be a great gesture of Aloha and PR for Hawai`i…Besides we have to give him some love before we stomp his favorite team.

  82. Garret November 2, 2010 11:08 am

ESPN seems to think that Central Florida is going to get an invitation over TCU. If the Big East adds UCF and Villanova (already invited), then the MWC is spared AND the WAC could lose La Tech (replacement for UCF).

In my opinion you’ll see the Big East add UCF and either Villanova or TCU

UCF still strong viable option for Big East as 9th or 10th team b/c of location, TV market, USF

  83. Garret November 2, 2010 11:10 am

    AlaWai,

*Excellent* suggestion. ESPN is going to be covering the story and it would be good for the Warriors to be involved in the story. I agree that it would be good for UH to do something for the poor boy since UH can ruin that boy’s once-in-a-lifetime chance to be involved with BSU.

but Nationally, the five (5) Toss up is in question for the ‘Balance of Power’.

It will be very interesting to see the House and Governor race to see where it will lead us?

In Hawaii, out side of Sen Inouye, it’s a Toss Up!

If you’re an Independent voter and wants to see some change be sure to go out and Vote!

Change is Good. And Go Warriors make some Change!

Ratings update for Hawaii 5-0 since people ask about this every week:

These ratings are the final national ratings released by Nielsen. I’m only going to focus on the 18-49 demo rating because that determines commercial prices (which determines if a show survives):

Show before H:50 on CBS: 3.6

    H:50: 3.0

Show before Castle on ABC: 4.2

    Castle: 2.7

So, CBS started out behind by a LOT before Hawaii Five-0 started and H:50 won its hour.

If you want to compare viewer totals:

Show before H:50 on CBS: 10.7 million

    H:50: 10.9 million

Show before Castle on ABC: 20.4 million

    Castle: 11.3 million

So, ABC at 10pm had a *10 million* viewer advantage and H:50 caught up with ABC. H:50 had *more* viewers than the show before it while Castle dropped over 9 million viewers from the last 30 minutes of Dancing.

  92. HawaiiMongoose November 2, 2010 11:27 am

If it comes down to TCU or UCF I think the Big East will add TCU. Aside from TCU being much stronger in football (e.g. 2nd in Sagarin’s power ratings versus 40th for UCF), TCU opens up a big new TV market for the Big East and UCF doesn’t. Travel convenience isn’t a differentiator since flying from the Northeast to Dallas takes only a bit longer than flying to Orlando (if anything there are more flights to Dallas). UCF’s only advantage is that it provides a potential travel partner for USF, and I don’t think that’s a big enough factor to outweigh the other considerations.

Coach Petersen of Boise has great respect for this year’s Hawaii team, per an audio recording of his press conference on the Idaho Statesman website. He knows all about Hawaii’s offense, turnover causing defense, moniz, salas, pilares, paredes and the others. They won’t be caught underestimating Hawaii. He agrees that this is one of the better Hawaii teams in years, comparable to the 2007 team.

Petersen once stayed free at Mouse Davis’ house when Petersen was a new young coach at UC Davis and was studying the Detroit Lions offense when June Jones was there (around 1989), per the audio. So he has great regard for Mouse.

for what it’s worth, this just posted on a University Montana Blog:

Official: Griz to WAC. WAC to FCS.

    by Grizzlies1982 » Tue Nov 02, 2010 10:53 am

Official word just in from sources. UM President has determined Griz to move up in 2012. O’Day was able to satisfy the President that lingering money issues were addressed. Revenue for the move was found by eliminating non-essential programs such as english, math, and computer science. A study will be conducted to determine if other program elimination are also needed.

Simultaneously the WAC announced the “new WAC” will be joining the FCS in 2012. This was released in a statement from the commissioner’s office; “Our newest member Montana has shared some valuable information. WAC members have just learned it is possible for a team other than Boise to play football beyond the regular season. After discussing this new concept ‘playoffs’, members of the WAC voted unamiously to seek this novel opportunity by joining the FCS.”

  103. Old Diver November 2, 2010 11:46 am

  105. A-House November 2, 2010 11:58 am

    Dan Inouye/Harry Reid:

If the state they represent decides to “cast” them out, it would be one on the most devasting decisions by the voters as both have brought in millions of Federal dollars in projects. Critics say “pork barrelling” in a wate of money. Tell that to all the military families who now occupy fabulous housing on post; or, the Pearl Harbor ship workers who work on projects spearheaded by Inouye.

Yes, someday they will retire or pass away and we will start from the bottom. That is why I supoorted Ed Case in his Senate bid. 2010 will be forever known in US political history as they mid-term where many “senior” members of the House and Senate were not re-elected. There will be many brand new members with “zero” seniority – this is were Ed Case would have had 3 or 4 years seniority. 20 years from today it will make a hell of a difference. Hope I am still here to witness this.

When both Dans go, Hawaii will be in a “hurt” for Federal dollars and our economy will take a dive!

Hawaii military families have really benefited with Inouye’s seniority and positions on the various “major” committees in the US Senate.

Yep, with BYU and Utah and TCU gone, all that’s left is a watered down mid-major with only BSU as the shining light.

However, with the loss of Kellen Moore and others it will be a middle of the road team just like Nevada when Kapernick and Taua and what’s the name of the other runnning back are gone.

BSU has the most underclassmen starting on offense and defense, but when they are gone, what is left? Are the reserves as good as the current starters? Will they reload? Must be a recruiting night mare – how many talented players will go to a school knowing that they may get to play only 1 or 2 years, at most and maybe none at all?

Hawaii will have a very good football team in 2011!!!!

Look at the BCS rankings with TCU, Utah, and BSU 3,4, and 5.

At least 2 would be playing in BCS bowls and maybe one would have been for a national title.

Besides the money how much creedence would be given to such a conference with teams like those and BYU? Will the networks have increase the payout like the other BCS conference for the regular season?

It would not be necessary for the Big East to take TCU cause the MWC will be back to square one. Utah and BYU has more points than the combination of Boise and Fresno or Boise and Nevada. The MWC and WAC are the ponds in the scheme of things. Not allowing the ponds to turn into what they so earned. Checkmate no Check yes.

The Boston Globe cites sources in the Big East that seem to indicate that the Big East will probably expand with Villanova and Central Florida. They also might just have Villanova move up to D-IA and stop there. That would slow down the conference merry-go-round from starting again.

  155. Garret November 2, 2010 2:14 pm

ESPN feature article on the Warriors.

Montana sure doesn’t sound like they are joining the WAC:

Judging from a comment Montana athletic director Jim O’Day made yesterday, it is apparently all but certain that the Grizzlies are staying put.

“It’s something I think the Big Sky has to do,” O’Day told the Missoulian. “It’s similar to what the WAC is going to do in the next few days, when they announce an expansion. It will not include Montana — we’re not to that point yet — but they have to do their due diligence.”

I’m not sure how else that can be interpreted other than, we won’t be joining at this time. Amazingly, this comment is getting virtually no play anywhere that I can see, despite spelling out Montana’s intent in apparent black-and-white.

  160. HawaiiMongoose November 2, 2010 2:32 pm

Garret, re #156, the ESPN article cites the following candidates:

“League sources indicated to ESPN.com Big East reporter Brian Bennett that TCU and Central Florida are the top possible outside candidates, along with Villanova.”

    It also says:

“Former Big East member Temple is a possible backup plan if Villanova decided not to move up because the Owls play in an NFL stadium (Lincoln Financial Field) and have a home for their other teams in the Atlantic 10. Houston is further down the list, while Memphis is not being seriously considered at this time.”

I didn’t see any mention of East Carolina. Are we reading the same article?

  161. Garret November 2, 2010 2:33 pm

UT-SA has been estimating their travel expenses.

Much has been made about the increased travel costs that would purportedly accompany a move to the WAC. But according to an informal analysis conducted by UTSA Senior Associate Athletics Director Ross Cobb, joining the league would add at most around $200,000 to the school’s current travel budget.

Cobb said UTSA’s current travel budget is around $900,000 to $1 million. In contrast, the folks he spoke to — Louisiana Tech, Idaho and the former CFO at San Jose State — are all spending around $1 to $1.1 million this year. Cobb’s estimates did not include football, or any new additions (Denver and Seattle or Montana).

Garret, re #159, O’Day’s quote was taken out of context by the UTSA blog writer. Here’s a larger excerpt from the Missoulian article:

    **********

In the [Big Sky press] release [conference commissioner] Fullerton said the expansions weren’t a case of the league preparing for the potential loss of teams to the Football Bowl Subdivision, but of strengthening the case for the Football Championship Subdivision.

One line, not attributed to Fullerton, reads: The Big Sky does not anticipate losing any of its current nine core members. He backed off from that later Monday.

“Maybe I should say that the league does not want to lose anyone,” said Fullerton, mindful that the Western Athletic Conference is courting UM. “Let me say this: If you look at what the Big Sky is now embarking on, and you look at what I think we can become at the FCS level. … if I were to make that decision, I know where that would fall.

“Probably that statement was a little bit of hopeful thinking. I can also say that we have no knowledge that anybody is leaving at this particular time.”

Jim O’Day, Montana’s athletic director, said as much Monday when he spoke of the league’s moves.

“It’s something I think the Big Sky has to do,” O’Day said. “It’s similar to what the WAC is going to do in the next few days, when they announce an expansion. It will not include Montana – we’re not to that point yet – but they have to do their due diligence.”

    http://missoulian.com/sports/college/montana/article_61c5e7a6-e5c9-11df-91e6-001cc4c002e0.html

    **********

The way I read O’Day’s remark is that expanding is something the Big Sky “has to do” to cope with the possible future loss of current members, and that although the WAC will not announce an invitation to Montana in the “next few days” when it announces the additions of Texas State and UTSA, that Montana could still receive and accept an invitation to join the WAC later after “they” (the WAC) completes its due diligence process.

Having said that, I also believe O’Day is just being politically correct since Montana hasn’t formally concluded its internal analysis of whether to move up. I think Montana’s president had a lot to do with engineering the Big Sky expansion and I’ll be surprised if Montana actually decides to join the WAC.

    Off the subject

but since this morning my neighbor roofers been pounding away to find they are installing Sun Solar, so I went to check how much they pay on electric bill.

Dam, they only paying mer $80 bucks a month for a 4 bedroom house? Hell, I told him you don’t need solar, he just laughed…

I guess I’ll get one after him and we pay dam more on our utility Bill!

infact the More you win the longer they stay on the Big Rock.

Look at our Wahine Softball team this year… What they stayed over a month on the Big Rock?

That’s what sucess do high cost on travel and over stay.

I’m hoping our UH Basketball team will stay a month after WAC Tournment this year if not this year… Many years to come after this…

Hearing a few trinkling of Boise State Fans wants to rethink BSU moving to water down MWC without Utah, BYU and now even TCU may moving on?

I don’t think Fresno and Nevada will be a powerhouse in coming years to move and help MWC to qualify to become BCS elegible anytime soon without TCU, Utah and BYU on their schedule.

Letting teams get the short pass must be working well.

I went to http://www.cfbstats.com/2010/national/index.html and Boise is #120 (#1) in the country on “Opponent Long Scrimmage Plays”.

According to this site nobody has had a play from scrimmage longer than 30+ yards. Nobody has run for more than 20+ or passed for more than 30+ yards.

i believe that montana will take that quantum leap of faith to the FCS levels. They will accept an invite to the wac. they are taking a long, cautious, and careful look at the feasibility. perhaps they are speaking with sponsors and donors for the new money that is required to necessitate this move.

wac needs to get the twin texas teams in. it looks like la tech will be leaving some time soon. so montana would be a good find.

and who knows what tomorrow brings? maybe another wac team gets called up?

Playing football in Montana could very cold in November. When I visited Yellowstone a couple of years ago, it was snowing and cold and some roads were closed–and the trip was in June!

  196. Curt November 2, 2010 4:39 pm

In my mind, the two Texas teams probably entering the WAC have the potential to really develop. Enrollment at Texas San Antonio is 28,000 and at Texas State it’s 31,000. UH is around 20,000. Of course, size does not equate to football excellence. Having lived in San Antonio, it’s a good size city and could easily develop a pretty good fan base.

It is too bad that mediocre, at best, Warrior fans with minimal management skill are icing out Doris Sullivan at PIAA, bad mouthing her. your effect will be felt for years to come. Polys who want to go to college to play ball, generally speaking, will not have the same level of backup they had with her at the helm at PIAA. yeah, we’ll still have a 501(c) non profit organization to help move people along, but the process will have one less capable mentor who would have put in the time and effort to make sure more kids’ paperworks were in order. we’ll still have Polys going to school, but more will miss deadlines, miss the connections, etc. many mainland institutions won’t deal with people who say they are a non-profit but don’t have the paperwork to show they are a non-profit. people on the mainland will smile at you, make nice nice, but they won’t deal with you like they will have dealt with Doris. yes, we’ll still have Polys dreaming the big dream, but not as many will make the grade to play out their dreams. the reason? I’ve got no direct information, just intuition. she’s a whitie. brownies who are putting her down can’t stand that she gets alot of credit for getting the paperwork ready for kids to get a schollie.

its too bad, folks. Hawaii loses.

but hey, Doris, look at the bright side. Take a break. You’ve earned it. Thank you for a job well done. That is my opinion. God Bless.

    condolences to the irons family.

to those that wondered about dengue, the thing with this disease is that you do not know that you have it until it is in a moderate stage. I just wet through a bout with dengue and it it simply starts off as a fever-no big deal.

you feel uncomfortable for a few days, it feels like the flu so you try to rest. next thing you know, you have some bone and joint aches-again, you think its just the flu. In actuality you have more then likely given the disease 1-2 weeks to work through your body and fester. shortly and swiftly thereafter it hits you. you notice spots and for andy, he may not have noticed-as I did not because i surf quite a bit too (but i am not an andy) and your skin can have some spots from a lot of sun, so again, another symptom that may have been passed over. i thought my dengue spots were just sun or age spots i did not notice before.

you keep resting thinking you’ll feel better, but you dont-you never do. all of a sudden you feel weak, you can barely walk, your head is just pounding 24/7 and you think rest is the answer, but in reality by this time your white blood count and platelets are so low you are very sick and bleeding out internally. your eyes may bleed, in my case my nose and mouth bled. the only thing that will save you is hydration through an iv or in severe cases a platelet transfusion. yes, dengue is curable, but the real scary part about the disease is that we overlook the first signs and once it works its way throughout your body from head to toe and into the organs and brain, it wreaks havoc.

if he was so weak to travel, it was really settling in. i was so weak i could not even walk into a car to go to the hospital so all the more i feel for andy who was traveling.

    condolences to the irons family.

  220. Moocher November 2, 2010 7:13 pm

…and if he was taking methadone or pain killers, it very well could have been of the pain and headaches dengue gives. i myself was taking painkillers too thinking it would help.

moocher, about the spots, how big and do they get larger and color????

  224. Moocher November 2, 2010 8:04 pm

    #223

my spots were brownish in the beginning-like sun spots about maybe 1mm. you wake up one morning and simply say to yourself, “hey i didn’t notice this before” and you don’t think much more about it. then you notice more. mine were on my shoulders first then belly and later down to my feet.

its really a disease you have to catch as early as possible. i travel a lot between hawaii, singapore, and the philippines. i caught in in the philippines. an estimated 80,000+ caught dengue in 3 months in the philippines (i was one of them) with some 400 or so dying.

sad to read the advertisers piece on irons, depending on how you read it, speculation sort of made the guy out to look like a druggy. whether he was or wasnt not my kuleana. just wanted to give insight on a disease that not much of us know about, how we may overlook it or misdiagnose it, and of course offer condolences.

thankfully hawaii does not have the same outbreaks other tropical places do- i dont even remember growing up and knowing about dengue in hawaii? but i do remember the “fog truck” going around our neighborhood in pacific palisades back in the 70’s and playing around in the smoke filled chemicals they sprayed for mosquitos back then.

I know everyone wants to keep up with how Coach Ault is doing. The following is from the Boise “One Bronco Under God” blog, in discussing the addition of Boise to the Wolfpack’s 2011 schedule:

    http://www.obnug.com/2010/11/2/1789053/broncos-add-nevada-and-fresno-state-to-2011-football-schedule-idaho

Nevada coach Chris Ault’s response: Surly

Were Chris Ault to get his way, the Boise State game most definitely would not be on the schedule. And Colin Kaepernick would have one more year of eligibility.

“I was shocked to hear that,” said Ault of the announcement of the addition of Boise to the schedule in 2011. “The first I heard of it was (Monday morning). I just thought we were going to replace Boise next year with a home game. I just assumed we would. I didn’t think twice about it …

“We’re already playing Oregon on the road,” Ault said. “We’re already going to Texas Tech. Why do we need another road game like Boise?”

Nevada football: Anyone, anywhere, any time it’s convenient for them provided they don’t already have a couple of tough games in which case they’re good thanks.

So there you have it. The Donks have a sense of humor, afterall. Of course, they have only one BCS team scheduled for 2011. Another tough schedule for the boys in blue.

    BYU and the WAC

so i’ve been thinking, and that’s dangerous i always say, it will become harder for any team to stay independent what with the likes of the pac12 and the former big12 requiring their resident members to play 9 conference games and perhaps with the big ten and the sec following suit.

i know donovan is concerned about that and is no longer whistling that independence tune these days.

    what does this all mean?

BYU may now look for a conference to at least play football?

now they are upset with the MWC for ruining plan “a” and may just land in the WAC.

now that is WACky but not far fetched.

    pride. you spamming?

  261. Pride. November 3, 2010 12:36 am

We are Hawaii. We are the Warriors. We have presence. We have confidence. We posture ourselves properly. When we walk into a room, we have amd walk with a commanding presence. Boise state has to beat us. They have to play their best game to beat us. We are the leaders in the WAC for the year 2010. We are in the lead in the conference. We are at the top of the conference standings. Boise State has to beat us. They will need all of the help that they can get. They will need hometown advantage, they will need to paint their field blue. They are coming onto our field to try to beat us. Yes, our field. Every field that we step onto is our field. Everything between the lines is ours. We will own the line of scrimmage, we will own the field. No matter what city we go to, we will own the field. That is our posture. That is the culture that we are building as Warriors. Teams have to play up to us. Nuff said.

  278. Garret November 3, 2010 6:34 am

Interesting to see how many people watch the different college football broadcasts and see if that correlates to how much money their conferences are getting for the TV rights. Unfortunately, this list only concerns the broadcast channels so no WAC games are included.

    5.3 ABC (79% had USC/Oregon, 21% had Ohio State/Minnesota)

    3.5 CBS Georgia/Florida

    3.3 ABC (77% had Michigan State/Iowa, 23% had Missouri/Nebraska)

    1.5 NBC (Notre Dame/Tulsa)

Notre Dame gets a LOT less money than the Big 10 and SEC, and their ratings sure have been a lot lower all season than those 2 conferences. The 5.3 was a season-high for ABC for college football.

Dick Tomey talking with BC this morning

said this year all the coaches he talked with

say Boise is really smash mouth tough—this year

more than recent years. And he mentioned

San Jose State almost beat them when he

    coached, something like losing 23-20.

But I like Pride’s view, UH is the WAC leader.

    UH owns the field.

NY Daily News article about how TCU might accept a football-only invitation to the Big East, but if they insist on being a full member of the Big East then Central Florida could get the final Big East spot instead.

We’re assuming Villanova will likely say yes, figuring its chances of maintaining the health of its basketball program are significantly better by playing major college football. Also, the Cats may not want to risk the Big East taking cross-city rival Temple if they turn down this opportunity.

Sources close to the situation suggest a mid-major basketball-only league such as the WCC may be less willing to jump at the chance to take TCU’s other sports, because it feels the Frogs’ men’s basketball program is less attractive. And, in the end, TCU may try to push for entrance as a full-fledged member.

If that happens, travel costs could doom its candidacy, and the Big East likely would then reach out to Central Florida, a huge school in Orlando that has outgrown Conference USA and would give the Big East a warm weather travel partner for South Florida.

Exploration: detective. Refers to the so-called detective who received money and other property of employment, such as employer surveys and photographs. Through covert investigation, to prevent respondents aware of people who obtained their secrets. In the past, referring to the detective is to help the police investigation, detection, evidence, etc. (the detective Sherlock Holmes has become a byword.)

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
