The Blaze debate
Whether linebacker Blaze Soares is eligible to play in 2010 depends on the rule interpretation for the year he spent after his high school graduation.
Because he did not meet all of the eligibility requirements for an incoming freshman, he attended a school that does not offer football during the 2005-2006 academic year. He then enrolled at UH-Manoa in August 2006.
The NCAA allows each player five years to play four seasons.
At issue is when Soares’ eligibility clock started. One argument is that because he attended a non-football-playing school, his eligibility clock did not start until he enrolled at UH-Manoa in 2006. The opposing argument is that he needed to attend the other school to be eligible at UH-Manoa, so his clock should start at 2005.
In any scenario, Soares will be allowed to play next season.
But the Warriors would love to have Soares available for 2010, when they play USC and, possibly, SMU.
* * *
Remember Gabe Tuata? He committed to UH in February 2007 with the intent of grayshirting in 2007 and joining the Warriors in January 2008. But he did not meet all of the NCAA requirements, and opted to go the junior-college route. Tuata had a fairly good start at Mount San Antonio College this year, and he is, as they say in the business, a person of interest for the Warriors.

Happy birthday to the Jaegermeister — Lyn Eastman. She’s always gorgeous, always fun. We raise a toast to her. Bomb’s away!

Top 3
near the top?
Good Morning ST…
Gabe Tuata – Would be nice to have him back and in a Warrior uniform. He was the next coming of Chad Owens and I’m sure he would be a huge boost to our special teams and running back position!
Blaze Soares – What an unfortunate situation for such a talented player. I pray that if he only has next year to play that he can stay healthy and prove to everyone that he should be the most feared linebacker in the nation! I know having him healthy all season will have offensive coordinators she-she pants when they play us!
Good Morning Tsaikoland! Hope everyone has a great day today!
Again…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES!!!
If you see a Marine today, please tell them Happy Birthday as this year marks the 233rd year!
On November 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress resolved to raise two battalions of “American Marines.” Congress commissioned 31 year old Samuel Nicholas, a well-known Philadelphian, as captain of the fledgling force of Continental Marines. Nicholas raised two battalions of Marines and began the long, illustrious history of the United States Marine Corps.
On November 1, 1921, General John A. Lejeune issued Marine Corps Order No.47, Series 1921. The order provided a summary of the history, mission, and traditions of the Corps. General Lejeune directed that the order be read to every command each subsequent year on November 10th in honor of the founding of the Marine Corps. This tradition has continued every year since 1921 throughout the Corps.
The first official “Birthday Ball” was probably held in 1925 in Philadelphia. No official records of the event were held prior to that date. Guests at the ball in 1925 included the Secretary of the Navy, General Lejeune, well-known national leaders, and representatives from all the military services.
On October 28, 1952, Commandant General Lemuel C. Shepherd, Jr. directed the celebration of the Marine Corps Birthday be formalized throughout the Corps. The details were included in the Marine Corps Drill Manual approved in 1956. General Shepherd’s order helped bring together the inclusion of a cake ceremony and other traditions still held every year at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball.
GOOD MORNING!
top 10 woohoo
Coaches,
Please come down to my area on your recruiting trip. You already have the information on the prospect RB from my area, but there are many quality D1 prospects over here. There is another RB prospect in the same league as my boy that is getting recognized by the big name schools very quickly, but has been flying under the radar. Make sure your Southern California trip to Long Beach Poly and Los Angeles area, heads south on the I-5 to the San Diego area I guarantee it’ll be worth it!
Good morning!
Top 10! Yeah!
Kekoa-sensei – don’t I get any credit for making Homey’s poodles smell and look a little better?
morning gang!
Happy Birthday Marines!
Blaze – i think his clock should start when he enrolled at Manoa
You mean I made the top 20 or, as I type, the top 10?
Notify the media – sorry you are the media.
Happy Birthday, Marines. Thank you for the service to our country.
On this eve of Veterans Day, let me say our family supports all the service members, past and present, for their sacrifice to protect us and our freedoms.
Happy Birthday Marines!
Thank you for being Semper Fi.
hey i just realized isn’t today the return of the Princess Video’s?
Good thing I no suffer from Triskaidekaphobia! 😯
great morning everyone. get 2 fridays this week 🙂
hope we’re able to re-recruit Iuta Tepa and GDL da LBP boyz. great win saturday, offensive explosion was good to see. at the least we have blaze for next year, that’s good news, hopefully we can have him for our daunting 2010 schedule as well. darn one dick tomey victory away from gonig 15-0 in pigskin picks oh well next time maybe. hopefully the vandal game is where we finally see above da .500 mark. lookin forward 2 dat OU/TT game in 2 weeks, really like TT, but to blow up the bcs, hopefully OU wins and they’ll be a 3 way tie in the big 12 south. the bcs controversy can start in full force as 2 teams will have big arguments
d1 – ho, good thing not Friday too
Loa,
Yeah!
Princess! Princess! Princess!
I hope somebody told her no mo’ practice…
Top 20?
Hi Ho!
Oh, shucks, just missed my lucky 17.
What’s up, Tsaiko peeps? Hey, ST!
Keeping fingers crossed for Blaze …
With no more practice today or tomorrow, what is she going to take video’s of?? The grass growing?? Speaking of which, the practice field definately needed this past week off from practice to grow some grass. It gets eaten up pretty good during the week.
Hey, folks.
I think she gets her camera back today, but I don’t think her videos post until Wednesday.
Or at least that’s what folks tell me.
babooze alert on 1420!!
Stretch:
Hey … don’t give away her story.
Huge YAY for the impending return of Princess videos!
Loa,
😆
Would be great to have Blaze and Gabe Tuata around for a coupla seasons.
takoboy,
No doubt they need to get those 2 LBP boys back on the Warrior Team. Silverado DE Graham is a lost cause as he already committed to UCLA. Frikkin Norm Chow already has a solid class going so far with Hasiak and Hilliard commiting already for his offense. As much as I myslelf wanted to go to UCLA, I’m beginning to have a grudge against them, don’t know why?
Stretch,
Get back(?) to work! Or is it considered a Friday (Marketing Day) for you?
This article is about the code talkers being honored during the UH-NMSU game…I just wish the writer would get UH’s name correct.
Kekoa … thank you, sir! *salutes*
Except … now I feel bad for jm because … I think I may have been the original instigator of after-hours mayhem in the Tsaiko clubhouse. So … please, here is my vote for restoring jm’s full Tsaiko privileges and consideration again. Pleez? 😀
They haven’t given up on Graham, although they are pretty sad about the turn of events.
Aloha gang!
Hey..? While they have their eyes on Tuata …maybe they should also keep an eye out for #78 Jason Fa’alafua , OL 6-07 380 FR out of Farrington HS / Hawaii, HI?
Garret … “Hawaii State”? Good grief!
Well, at least the inferred that Hawaii IS a state, which is more than I can say about some other writers and politicians. Ugh.
Well, Esme, have you recovered yet from Gridiron?
Article in the Advertiser mentions that organizers hope that Obama and Colt will attend the Hawaii Inaugural Ball.
ST,
I hope that Graham and the rest the recruits we are going after somehow sign the Hawaii Warrior LOI paperwork…
Esme,
I don’t think that I’ve *ever* seen UH referred to as “Hawaii State University”
I wish it was, but unfortunately I have to work once in a while.
d1 – yep on 27
Esme – sorry for barging in on 17
ST- so Chawan gotta wait couple more days
I hope that the coaches are having very productive meetings today. These relationships are the key to current and future recruiting.
Blaze’s issue is very interesting, and I don’t know if there are many precedents available for UH to argue their case. It would be great to have him be available for 2009 and 2010. More importantly, it would be great to have a healthy Blaze for at least one full season.
I really want Gabe Tuata to join the Warriors! Hopefully he’ll want to go home to Hawaii and ignores the recruiting attention he’ll get from other schools. Isn’t BSU interested in him?
madeinhawaii,
Fa’alafua is huge, get planny Hawaii guys on that team I heard! 6’7″ 380lbs. wonder if he can move…sheesh!
Article on the Warriors.
I think Blaze’s case is worth studying because there is at least one other UH player who went the same route.
Under Armour just extended their deal with Texas Tech to cover all of their teams. They had Texas Tech’s football team since 2006. “basketall”
Garret,
I heard from a source that Gabe Tuata still wants to go to UH and be a Warrior. I hope it’s true! I always thought he would’ve took over where Chad Owens left off in the return game…
RGM’s team won their western semifinal playoff game. Unfortunately, RGM made a big drop in the game…good thing the team won, but bad thing for RGM since the scouts pay extra attention to playoff games.
Garret/Stephen – sounds like a good research project, i wonder if the NCAA publishes past results, maybe we can hire Will Hunting to argue the case
Pauoa Boy,
I’ve read a lot of things that point to UH being able to get Gabe when he’s available to transfer. I hope that things continue like that, as I think Gabe will do very well this season and get all kinds of recruiting interest. I’m sure that the coaches will keep in contact with Gabe to make sure he knows how much he’s valued by the Warriors.
As I understand it, Blaze’s route is available to every UH student.
The way it works, I was told, is that if you’re a high school senior, UH looks at your transcripts and SAT score. If you’re a community college student, UH looks at your high school and CC transcripts, as well as y our SAT. But if you transfer from a four-year school, UH only looks at that school’s transcripts.
I went to the Mount SAC site and I noticed Tuata’s stats dramatically drop off. I wonder if he was hurt? It seems that way.
Another article on RGM’s team’s playoff win. If they win their next game they will be in the Grey Cup, Canada’s version of the Super Bowl. RGM’s team’s D gave up no TDs in their last game and got 7 turnovers! The next playoff game will be hard because they will be on the road and the team they are playing beat them all 3 times they played this season.
I have to run an errand. I’ll be back in a bit.
RGM’s drop was at the goal line in the first quarter…good thing his team’s D was so good and it didn’t matter in the game.
ST … haha, define “recovered.” I suppose if you mean just being able to catch up with life, I guess that is slowly happening. However, that really great experience gave me the performing bug again. Heaven help us all!
P.S. While the Gridiron was great, it WAS missing one element … a lion …
Weird … the blog is posting about 20 minutes into the future again …
To go along with your Happy Birthday to the Marines, I think that these Pendleton-based Marines who were off duty at the time deserve recognition.
Scout Bowl again on Thursday. I hope that there are no major injuries like Bryce Kalau`oka`a`ea in the last Scout Bowl.
By the way, this fire was near the 5 freeway and we saw the flames yesterday as we drove to Disneyland. The entire building was on fire and the plume of smoke was HUGE and localized in that small area. As we drove by we saw the first firefighter engine get there…the way the fire was at that time, if the Marines didn’t get everybody out the people in the hotel would have died.
Wow, the Marine posts are giving me chicken skin. Amen … and mahalo to the Marines and the fine men and women serving our country.
Loa, no worries.
But it’ll cost you $17. 😆
Old stuff..
Thanks Pauoa Boy, I thought I was the only one noticing that we are still having our problems with the dbs inability to cover.
I really like the Warriors but part of what we do as fans is to question things that appear to repeatly have a negative effect on the overall success of the team going forward.
Lastly, doe the WAC commissioner have free rein to do what has bee chatted about or does he have a specific mandate from the WAC presidents? It appears that commisioners act at the whim of the schools and that presidents have a wide sway over how business is done (remember the defection). Maybe it’s not Karl not being aggressive but the presidents not choosing to be more proactive.
A-Joe, check your e-mail!
i know that the greatest sport is still ongoing now, but man can the hype start already for bj/gsp II, and on super bowl weekend. WOW. gonna have to take that monday off to recover i think.
ooh, scout bowl again, that’s always fun, too bad couldn’t be tomorrow.
Yes I did. I sent a response. =)
Good morning gang…again have to do an Esme today….
ST, just a question. How does it work for those guys like Ikaika-Alama Francis or others who have gone to UH or another 4 year school and played in another sport? I mean, they were at UH and played V-ball or B-ball for 4 years and than decided to continue their education and wanted to play football? I’ve also heard stories of older guys (i.e. late 20s early 30s) who already had a degree and went back for their graduate degrees who walked on to the football team and actually played. Not sure how long they played (i.e. 2 years/4 years) but its happened. How does it work for them???
Okay…whoosh and out…talk later.
Aloha Kakou:
Just a very quick post as I have to go deal with bureaucrats public and private. Universal Healthcare sounds really good right about now.
DrDoc is scheduled for surgery this afternoon to become a Tsaiko Bionic Man. He’s having a combo pacemaker and defibrillator implanted later on today. Still no word on when he’ll be released from the hospital.
To repeat a much earlier post: We will definitely need some help in getting our lives back on track. There’s some stuff I cannot do because of physical limitations – too short, for example – and a lot more because I don’t know how to, but I think I am capable of learning new skills which someone will have to show me how to do.Will be sending out an e-mail later on today or first thing tomorrow.
Am looking forward to the upcoming basketball tourney on Nov 14 and 16.
Is anyone here planning to attend the 11 pm game with Idaho State on Monday, Nov 17? I realize that it’s a national ESPN promotion so someone had to get stuck with that time slot, but why UH?
Have a good day everyone. I will probably see some of you folks at the Na Koa luncheon – assuming that I get through by then.
Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES!! SEMPER FI!!
Thank you to all Marines, past and present! It is truly an honor to be married to a Marine and the mother of a Marine. Their sacrifices and the sacrifices of all that have served and those families that support them are humbling.
Thanks to Kekoa and Koakane for a fun outing on Saturday. At least now I can drive a golf ball more than three feet!
OK now we have to start planning our off season fun days since no more tvgates!
Pool? And no, not the kind with water and chlorine, homey!
Good morning Tsaikos! 🙂
Great win Warriors!! CHEE HOO
Hoping for a 2010 season with both Blaze and Gabe in Warrior green. AU’RYTE!!!
Happy Birthday to the U.S. Marine Corp!!!!
Hey Hawaiianbod!
When are we going to see you again? It’s been a while since I last saw you.
Prayers to my 12-year old son. He broke his clavicle this past weeekend during his football game in Portland, Oregon. Kea was having a great season scoring 14 touchdowns and leading his team to the championship game. He played qb, rb, lb and s.
Anyone has any insight on this type of injury and the healing process? (HeinekenHealer, bulla, d1, homey, j(j), koakane, Pride, et al?).
Colt Watch!
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2008/11/reed_doughty_just_got_paid_aga.html
“Sometimes a number gives you an identity,” Colt Brennan said into my lucky recorder. “When you played good in a certain number, you just feel a certain way. It’s just a subconscious thing, I guess. I always try to figure out if my time ever comes, am I gonna go back to 15 or am I gonna stay with 5, because I’ve had success with 5. Maybe 5’s my NFL number. Maybe 15 was only supposed to be my college number.”
Good morning to Tsai-kos everywhere! Bummers! No practice. Hope to see some of you at lunch today and at CTC tomorrow.
Looking forward to the Scout Bowl on Thursday.
Happy Birthday to all of our Marines and thank you very much!!
Hi Rob25! Yah, i know. I miss everyone. Guarantee the next tgate. Wish i could’ve been there this past Saturday…..sounded like a blast!
morning tsaiko kanes and wahines kind of overcast but still being in Hawaii nei is better than most places.
finally getting over the great time at BV last saturday. very similar to cmac rule of 48 hours to recover. mahalo for all the kudos but no biggie just being with you guys, seeing everyone having fun, share great conversations, eating away and making memories is mahalo’s enough. my personal thanks goes out to Kekoa with dem prizes (shaka patnah), diana and betty for the hard work trying to get the info so the prizes are given out in time, some funnies to share about this two; diana-eh koakane what is int. me-oh when somebody catches the ball from the other teams qb. diana-ok and how many times he gotta do that to get one int. betty hearing the shouting “fumble” “fumble” starts yelling “fumble” then turns to diana and says what is fumble? priceless.
finally to all who attended you are the greatest, for those who couldn’t make it at this time just letting you know Kekoa and I are still scheming and planning. more to come in da nea fucha so now worry beef curry.
wow getting stink eyes from my boss so back to make like paying attention to meeting.
Hawaiianbod- my daughter broke her clavicle by falling off a slide when she was 2. We used La’au Lapa’au – Hawaiian medicine – and she was good to go in 2 weeks. MD’s were shocked that the xrays showed no sign of the break.
Prayers are VERY GOOD- and keeping the arm on the broken side immobilized and dry for a few days.
HeinekinHealer would be a good one to exchange some email with.
anyone going to the UH Basketball game on Friday?
Rob25 ~ You are most welcome!…btw…Does your hubby play golf? If you keep at it, you could team up with him and challenge A-Joe & A-Sports in a little Golf match when he returns! Just let Homey “play thru” if he is behind your foursome.
Or do what my mom used to do if someone ‘pushed’ from behind. Just hit his ball back at him…Bwhahaha!!
Hawaiianbod:,
Clavicals are tricky things. Is he wearing some kind of harness that pulls his shoulder back? Main thing is that you gotta make sure it aligns properly or it could lead to easy shoulder dislocation in the future. I know.. I broke my clavical 35 years ago and still pop my shoulders regularly. I broke mine into 5 pieces skidding off the road side on the way to pupukea heeiau at 2 am on a Honda Road and Trail bike so it took me 6 months to heal and another 6 for the ghost pains to sort of .. mostly … disappear. Your son’s in better shape than I was so it probably won’t take as long and with the right precautions, he’ll be as good as new.
I wish him well. He probably can’t really lift his arms up to even cheer the team on, eh? That must really be the pits for him. Tell him to learn the playbook study the defensive alignments.. contribute with knowledge and experiece until he’s better. Oh yeah… and raise is GPA.
I heard Call the Coach will be on as scheduled this Tuesday, except Coach Miano’s filling in. Can anyone confirm this?
BF,
Yep. BC said he’s bringing lots of prizes 😉
…and Coach Mack will call-in from the mainland
Small kine decision ’08 to make this morning. The question is, “should I allow a certain miscreant to operate under the radar?” I feel like without the proper discipline applied, this individual could upset the Guava cart.
Jm2375, therefore it is the decision of this co…oh try wait! Almost got carried away wiith a movie moment – scratch that statement.
…Eh! Jm2375…you may have access to da clubhouse, but you bettah remembah to take off your slippah, no jump ontop da furnicha, no touch – no belong. Kden, come insiie.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Gotta Esme… latahs.
Nice. Good to know.
About Blaze — there’s no medical redshirt year possibility for him? That’d be a shame.
Oh Mei Ling!…Not you too?!
ST:
Based on the morning paper, it appears that UH coaches will NOT go to San Diego to check out Pauoa Boy’s neighbor across the street.
If that’s the case, UH could lose a very good running back; one who can compliment the “run ‘n shoot” as a true Freshman.
Or, did Tony Tuioti already make contact or “recruit” said absolutely NO to playing for the Warriors.
Kekoa – Sure I promise. *fingers crossed behind back*
Stephen,
Can you comment on what school(s) John Manu-Olevao went to after Kahuku? Also how many years will he be eligible to play?
Liz… on that Colt watch number thing..
Maybe 15 was his college number.. 5 his NFL starting number.. but #1 is where we expect him to end up, eh?
A Veteran is a man that at one time during his military service wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America, for the amount up to and including his life. That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who still do not understand that.
Happy Birthday *Leathernecks!*
happy birthday to our U.S. Marine Corps!!!!
oooorahh!
by tradition tonight should be the annual marine corps ball. years ago i remember staging the largest marine corps ball ever at mcbh a.k.a kbay. i believe nearly 2,000 marines and their dates attended.
talk about prime rib by the 100’s of pounds!
bigwave dave………..how you been man?
i wondered about manu-olevao myself. i thought that he wouldn’t be able to come out until 2010?
bigwave……..wasn’t it first reported that he attended hpu, however, he surfaces at fresno cc as a freshmen tackle. i don’t he qualified out of hs thus his circuitous route. therefore, he would need an AA degree out of junior college to transfer which typically means that he would only have 2 years to play.
Everyone want to know what the problem with Dan Kelly’s kick is? The problem is he can’t get it up!!!! LOL!!!
When and where is Call the Coach?
Willows…. Tuesdays.. 6 pm.. I think… or was it 6:30.. lol..
Hausten Street.. one street ewa of University Avenue.
good to hear we got Roderick Flemmings back too. can’t wait to see him play Friday.
Aloha Tsaiko Family!
Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps!
btw, who is our running backs coach?
OKay…I will be at the “call the coach show” tomorrow. If Heinekens are still $1, I’ll buy the first round…hahaha…
RE: Call The Coach
Watching the Coach Mack show last night I did get the impression that Coach Mack would not be here in time for the Call The Coach Show on Tuesday, BUT at the same time I didn’t hear who would be filling in for him. I would like to think Coach Miano plays a big part in recruiting as well.
However I did call The Willows and they do have Call The Coach scheduled for this Tuesday at 6pm as usual.
Maybe we can have the Coach Potato Coaches fill in and we can stop by Times or Foodland for some tomatoes, onions, and eggs and have a good ole’ fashioned lynching this Tuesday in the back parking lot of The Willows. 😈
So Al…you got to feed all those hungry Marines all decked out in their Dress Blues – Tennis Shoes – and – A Light coat of Oil
I’ll bet they entertained the crowd with a little bit of Drill & Ceremony:

Ronnie,
Alex Gerke is our HB/O-line coach.
Ronnie,
Alex Gerke.
Did you see the playoff schedule?
Awesome day this past Saturday! Thanks kekoa and kokane for giving a few individuals the avenue to come together and enjoy the 5 f’s. Thank you to the ladies on a certain table for putting up with me. Thank you waitress with the oriental blue eyes. Thank you BG, Ralph, and Hiflyer for “watching” my beer…suckas! Thank you BV cooks for the good food! Thank you cookie scroungers for eating all the cookies…grrrrrrr. Thank you A-Joe for telling me the rules of the driving range.
It was good to float in the ocean yesterday to recuperate from an exhausting Saturday. When the body hurts, go float in the ocean. Golf is a draining experience so I will now go into golf retirement again.
I see Rob25 and A-Sports want to try another new sport. May I suggest long boarding? Maybe SteveM and al will join us too.
Look forward to next next weeks t-gate!
Everyone have an extremely nice day and don’t forget to pick up your Hawaii State quarters!
Soares and Tuata > Eligibility
Sure would be nice to have this resolved if not for these boys sake.
This would relieve their un-necessary stress so they can concentrate on more important things – football.
But then again there is not much anyone can do because the decision is solely left to the NCAA (another powerful entity).
Shane Victorino had a well-deserved victory celebration in Vegas with friends and family over the weekend.
ESPN’s Todd McShay has already labeled Texas Tech’s QB Graham Harrell a “system QB” and has him at #6 for QBs in the upcoming draft. Harrell has put up amazing numbers, leads the #1 team in the country…but is a system QB. Listed at slightly over 6’2″ and 199 pounds, he’s not too small or anything…
Ok, I’m in line for the Hawaii State quarters at Bishop Sq. Line is almost half way around the block. Good time to catch up on this blog.
kekoa…..thanks for that chicken skin video. i remember playing with the m-1’s in high school.
in fact, i once “volunteered” to clean every rifle in the mhs rotc armory.
haha, was easy to “volunteer” for that one. i had two choices; clean em all or repeat the class in my senior year or no graduate. and to think the sgt served with my father in ww2.
Are you kidding me?
Cantwell is very appropriately named!
homey, okay i’ll bust out the longboard if rob25 and asports come out of the locker wearing their “insy, winsy, teeny, weeny yellow polka dot bikini”
….and duffer is trying to line up shane “almost a warrior slot back” victorino as a chat host someday.
al,
Was duffer working on that while he was at the Red Rock celebration?
al -and will you be wearing your 2-piece bathing suit?
good afternoon Tsaikos,
A happy Bday out to my better 1/3, it is HER special day, and I just wanted to give her a BIG SHOUT, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYN 🙂
some people have to wait a lifetime to get to heaven to meet an angel; i am the lucky guy, I married one.
blessings to all
the babooze of the year to date as far as espn football draft experts has got to go to mel kiper, bruddah had curtis painter senior qb at purdue as the #10 overall senior prospect coming into the season, guy ain’t even starting no more, what a joke. i’ll believe my own eyes and practically any other unbiased fan, maybe even some biased ones perspective on things like this over the overpaid “experts” at espn.
wonder what the projectiions are for veikune, mouton, AL, sollie…
al
i’ll bring my longboard out, but last time i checked, Young Brothers was still using it for the Moloka’i route, haha :(:(
Al,
I heard unconfirmed reports that JMO may have attended a CC on Oahu or West Oahu College. If so this is not good because they are part of the University of Hawaii System, thus his clock would have started then.
If he is at FCC then he could have 2 to play 1
If he went straight to FCC he could have 2 (or 3) to play 2
Again it was unconfirmed so I figured on consulting the guru…
Garret,
…and send “Mr.” McShay a video of GA’s long-out from this last game. From the far hash to the sideline, on the money, with conviction! 😀
OK, homey — but you’ve seen my surfboard and know I need a long and wide one nowadays–wanna swap boards for a day? In a collision, my 30-lb board’s gonna win if it still floats. Put you on even par with Al… 🙂
BTW, have you trained your puppies to swim out there and spot waves for people without their glasses? Seeing-eye surf dogs…what a concept! 😐
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYN!
Is there enough Jaegermeister on Oahu to last the day?
dang…too much tsaiko blogging for me. I thought CC was cattle call and broke another rule re: gifts etc.
Bulla – You so romantic!
All Tsaiko women are Angels! *trying to earn some brownie points*

Blog Subject matter:
Today’s Subject is the Eligibility of Blaze Soares and Gabe Tuata.
It has become very very obvious that Bloggers on this Stephen Tsai column have been and still is abusing this Blog area for their own personal chat site. Gang! The subject for today is Soares and Tuata eligibility. If you have nothing to say or have an opinion on this, Shut dah F*^# Up. No Happy Birthday Marines, No Hi Princess, etc. Hey! I love Shane Victorino and Local boy does good but not on this Blog site. It should be on a Vctorino site or when Tsai has made a piece on Victorino..That should be on another separate Blog. Come On Gang!
But I really don’t blame you folks for doing this crap. It is YOU, Stephen Tsai, that has not kept order and continuity to the Blog Subject matter.

Hi Sledge696,

Sledge696 – Guess you haven’t been here long have you.
Sledge696 – You’d be surprised at the no life backgrounds many who blog here have. If you have the time come join us at the next t-gate.
I’d like to add something very insightful that comes from a very different perspective to the subject at hand.
sorry i couldn’t make it to the t-gate on saturday.
i can also wait a few more days for you know what.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYN!
hi PRINCESS!!
HOW ZIT GABE?!
BLAZE, TELL GRANDMA I SAID HAPPY BIRTHDAY.!
kazz,
saw colt brennan jerseys for sale at pearlridge.
not sure how long thats been there.
oops my bad, kiper is da donkey of da year, my sincere apologies to all associated w/BSU
al,
You should learn to control yourself. 😆
d1 – you are so profound!
time to make vitamin D…
takoboy,
Brutal!
Grrr….
homey,
You’re right, I haven’t been here long and from reading the blog of everyone since coming on, I will not be here longer. You people are regulars to this blog and to Tsai’s blog arena. You have made this public blog area your own private blog arena for you and your friends only.
So…when someone like me comes on and expresses his opinion on the subject matter at hand and if it disagrees with you and your friends opinion, I’m branded as “Enemy” So what Brah, now you Pissed Off cauz I wen upset dah cart and go against what you guys doing.
But like I said, I don’t blame you. I blame Tsai for not keeping his blog arena to standard.
homey,
I post for your approval!
heheheh
Homey does tanning booths?
d1 – i give up…sorry i’m about as sharp as a bowlin ball 🙁
anyone want to talk about good soup recipes? Sledge?
blog: a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer ; also : the contents of such a site
hmm, I don’t see anything here that says we HAVE to talk about the specific susbject today.
Funny part of the UH-NMSU game was when coach Mack challenged the call in the 4th qtr. If you have the game on tape or dvr, try read his lips after he lost the coaches challenge haha. AURIGHT COACH MACK!
HI SLEDGE!
jdog….i saw that too. and kekaula brought that up also. he said that mack would get it when heather finds out.
too funny.
madeinhawaii-
re Colt – hope he’s ramping up fast in case #5 has to show what he’s learned when it means the most in the season!

“And Todd Collins missed practice after a severe sinus infection ruptured his ear drum in Boston over the bye week, and he was told not to fly back to Ashburn. He’s driving back, and is expected to practice Wednesday.”
Re Blaze- I would like to see him get 100% healed and have a really great season.
Hauoli Lahanau, LYN!!!
Sledge696 – Welcome to the ohana. Glad you are a supporter of the Warriors. Hope your comments will demonstrate respect for our blog host and your heart will learn to enjoy the warm family atmosphere we have come to enjoy here with our fellow Warrior-supporters.
HA! I don’t have to read his lips, he probably was saying the same thing I was thinking! However when I got to watch the replay to see what he was challenging I just plain didn’t see why he wanted to challenge that call regarding the spot of the ball considering the circumstances.
We are family!
I got all my sisters with me!
Hmmm.. Maybe Mrs. Coach Mack should suggest for Coach to join in on the Ha’a before each game!
oops, threw out the welcome mat too late…
Nope I didn’t see those, BUT what I did see was someone wearing a UH jacket and holding a big UH flag in another publication’s story about UH merchandise peaking during and after the Sugar Bowl.
Who was that guy???? 😉
Grr.
I love Dish Network WHEN IT WORKS.
I lost signal on a clear, sunny day, for BOTH replays on K5. Arrgh!!!
So- were there any Tsai-kos in the crowd scenes? I felt sorry for the NMSU team whose fans deserted them even before the game started. Lucky thing our cheer squad did not attend- the Hawaii section might have out-rooted the hometeam section.
Yea for the NMSU Band who kept it going for the team!
sledge696
whew, where did that come from? i am sure by reading this blog you realized the difference between WB and other sites. some of the other blogs are so vile, vindictive, and accusatory…really isn’t worth reading.
although we may choose to meander off subject every now and then, i can’t believe you’d get that upset over it. somehow, by the end of the day, everything comes pono, and it is complete. like life, it never goes as we expect it to, but we do end up somewhere down the road…..together of course.
you should make an effort to attend one of the Tsaiko events if your schedule permits, then you would meet the ‘characters’ on this site. if your schedule does not permit that, no worry beef curry as we say.
wishing you only the best, and just for your information, if I want to wish my wife a Happy Birthday, i don’t see what consequence it is to you. may someone enjoy your company enough to wish you a happy birthday when it comes around.
someone once said, ‘….sometimes i can see the face of my enemy right in front of me, that’s why i don’t look in the mirror…’ may your week get better.
kazz,
you’re right. who was that super cool lame guy???
i didn’t want to get smu’d by talking about another publication’s story.
i saw the jerseys at champs sports.
Didn’t JJ recruit Gabe Tuata for slotback? Would be nice to see him and Kealoha Pilares as slots one day…
Mahalo Liz. I am a staunch supporter of the UH football team BUT I type, or try to anyway, to be realistic and truthful and “tell it like it is” and the way I see it. I’m usually the one who says what everyone thinks but doesn’t have the “B” to say it. So…
I guess we lost sledge.
Come on Sledge, don’t take your ball and go home. We accept all kinds here. Just unlike many other blogs where cowards try to cyber-bully people and hide their 90 lb body behind a laptop while insulting most everyone, we blog with class here. If you join us you’ll see that we respect different opinions but also show respect to people and communicate in a professional manner (mostly). It is because of this mutual respect that we have come to meet each other and form friendships. If you were our friend, wouldn’t you want us to wish you a happy birthday?
🙂
Having said that…yes, sometimes this blogs goes off topic a bit. Maybe you can remind us to come back to it by posting open ended comments related to the topic?
Pomai, Kelly should be able to self correct by watching tape. I picked up on what I saw just seeing the game on TV with no real benefit of replay. He can just look at film in slow motion over & over to see what happened, it was pretty obvious. Kelly is not consistent with his mechanics and that is the main cause when things go wrong.
At the games I always watch his kick offs, extra points and field goals. Usually can tell if it’s going to be favorable or not just by looking at his plant foot, approach, lean and follow through.
In his defense it is a lot easier to kick & control a soccer ball than a football due to the egg/pointed shape, plus 1 ton of mad guys trying to get you.
Sledge696 – For me, you are always welcome here. Feel free to express your opinions. No worry if someone disagrees. We can all agree to disagree and in the end it’s still all good.
Main thing is to support UH Athletics and especially the Warriors!
GO WARRIORS
Oh, and no forget, come join is at the t-gate.
sledge696
the 5 f’s rule has been acknowledged here for a couple of years now.
football
food
family
fun
friends
the relationships that you see here all evolved first from our mutual admiration of the warrior football team.
when things got slow, what else was there to talk about food of course. especially since we experienced cattle calls, parties, and tailgates together, all of which ended up with the partaking of food.
as local boys and gals gathered here on this blog as well as making actual physical encounters like the aforementioned, we, like the “hawaiians” that we are, all became family and were willing to discuss family matters as well. in fact, we bring our family to tailgates and the like.
naturally, we all began to enjoy what we did here on the warrior beat so much we labeled ourselves as tsaiko’s. the tsaiko’s name have become so well known throughout the sports media and warrior athletic department. in fact, reaching some legislative members and university administrators as well. we just have a lot of fun here.
so all of this has resulted in us becoming very good friends. that to me is what is great about this place. we friends come from all walks of life, ethnicity, race, religion, and locations. we have no problem accepting new friends all the time. just play like us and we all become friends.
join us at the next tailgate. 40-50 of us will gather. we will talk football, eat a lot of food, bring our family (oh, and we act like one big family), we certainly have a lot of fun, and in the end you will leave with a lot of new friends.
here’s a link to stevem’s tsaiko home page. you’ll find tailgate info here.
no shame. if you forgive us, we’ll forgive you.
…nuff said.
There is at least one other place on the net people can go to to express their “different” opinions about UH athletics with the hopes of stirring emotions to further feed their psychological deficiencies in wanting to either be right all the time or to just vent because you lost a lot of money in past weeks.
The fact that people who come here and argue that their opinions are not welcome is nothing but a result of their opinions being responded to in a manner in which said individual does not agree with themselves. This is the problem, person A comes on a public forum and states something opposite of the trend. The other people give their opinions on person A’s comments and since the personality of the forum has been previously established person A will have multiple people responding differently and person A can do two things: 1) take it with an open mind and continue to disagree in a civil manner or 2) do it the way most people seem to prefer and that is to respond with nothing but accusations and assumptions followed by insults to people they have never met.
Again, there is at least one other place where reaction #2 is welcomed.
Mahalo bulla,
I have fulfilled my goal. The whole purpose of my blogs is to:
Insight emotion – most being negative to what I type.
To inject that adrenaline into your system. Get your juices flowing fast.
To active some kind of response whether it be positive or negative.
To upset the cart and steady easy-going flow.
To be that Devil’s Advocate. A lot of time we forget that there is two sides to every story, thing, situation and both sides must be viewed and known.
So…just for you to respond to me is great and a plus for this arena.
BillB – I was waiting for Kelly to kick the ball out of the endzone.
Sledge696- ok…thanks for responding. Please do hang around long enough to understand that this blog is an OPEN DOOR to all Warrior fans. It is not an “in crowd” thing at all – and new Tsai-kos are always welcome.
If the lingo is hard to understand, just say- “I can’t figure out what you are talking about” and someone will translate.
Unlike most blogs, we have gone beyond anonymous posting and gotten together in the real world for tailgates and away-games and met each other (and many, many lurkers) and become friends. We even have friends among other team fans – just because we spread aloha and have fun in support of the Warriors.
There are lots of knowledgeable people here who know a LOT about football. Most of the time, we read the topics, nod or shake our heads, and then visit with each other.
In the long run, the diversity of people who have come together here has really come to be appreciated- some are math wizards, gourmet chefs, rocket scientists, housewives, service people in hostile lands, students, rock stars, attorneys, you name it, we got it.
When a need arises, we will jump in to find a solution – whether in cyber space or on the pavement. All are welcome to participate… and enjoy the “F’s” – Friends, food, fun, family, fishing, and oh yeah- FOOTBALL!
homey #5 (is that like johnny?)
kelly was kicking the ball out of the endzone at florida, which is even harder to do. sealevel, with all that humidity.
the UF fans that we sat amongst couldn’t believe he could do that. they were really impressed and wanted to trade their kicker for Dan. they couldn’t remember the last time a UF kicker did that, and these gentlemen were on the older side.
The highlighted statement above is a KEY issue as to why many feel the way they do.
We have been accused of “drinking Kool-Aid” or being foolish by being positive.
The fact that people believe that “the way THEY see it” is “telling it like it is” ensinuates that their opinion is the ONLY one worthy of attention and no one else.
The so called “Kool-Aid” drinkers that always feel that the team isn’t as bad as they appear are stating their beliefs and we are NOT saying that “no the team is awesome and we SHOULD be 13-0” this season, but we simply go on our faith and also what many of us see at practices, Na Koa luncheons, and for some, their own experiences within the sport of football. Again the difference is while both sides may have the same experiences to make their opinions, one side firmly thinks they are right no matter what in a more hostile way.
There is a difference between the two kinds of bloggers that have emerged since we’ve had some struggles this season.
Happy Birthday Lynn!!!!
Happy Birthday Marines!
Calvin, I won’t ever take my ball home. In fact, I don’t bring a ball,
I just use yours. LOL
Wow, 😯 then we have delusions of grandure on display for all to see…
Sledge696,
I think if you came out to one of the functions and hung out with some of the people here you wouldn’t mind so much the off the topic subjects. So what if we go off topic it always comes back to Warrior Football. Besides anybody get there own opinion and can say whatevas. If I like say Happy Birthday to my fellow Marines, I can, you no need bother just ignore. Besides there are some former Marines who have played Warrior Football and a former Marine who still is in…Alonzo Chopp! Remember DT Lui Fuga, he’s a Marine too. Amon Tong…Marine! So chillax brah, and just to make things clear don’t ever disrespect my Marines! Today is there day, so no make huhu please, mahalos!
Once in my disgust with the Advertiser I posted that I was going to cancel my subscription. Stephen told me that maybe my murashi was too tight. Upon review I found he was correct. I know wear size XL and still enjoy getting my morning paper.
BTW maybe Coach Mack should suit up Josh Andrews aka Imposter Blaze as #53 and confuse spies at practice
#176- Hahaha…
OK. so that was a test for US- to see if we have the ability to resist the “ring of power” that leads to the dark side.
Back to work.
HiHO!
Sledge,
Aside from the 5 F rule, the other rule is nobody can play with my ball but me. (okay maybe Homey)
BigWave96744: uh… was that a mawashi, perhaps???
😯
😳
oops….sorry sledge.
too many bolds did appear. was supposed to only highlight the 5 f’s.
and here’s the link……..
http://home.hawaii.rr.com/smurashi/tsai-kos/
chawan – so it seems Kelly has lost some of his mojo?
Calvin- and joje, right?
Stephen … I don’t know if you addressed this but are you implying/saying that Blaze is medical redshirting this season.
2005 – HPU
2006 – UH 1st year
2007 – UH 2nd year
2008 – Medical Redshirt
2009 – UH 3rd year
2010 – UH 4th year
The only way he can play in 2010 is if he medical redshirts this season and the HPU year is not counted as his 1st year. Is that correct?
Right! Liz, I don’t know what I’m agreeing to but if you say so I say Right!
but LizK, the dark side can be a lot of “fun”. hahaha
Southbay – I’m not ST but your post does look correct.
CfK – I’m shuddering at the thought of playing with your ball.
Kelly does that weird body twist before he kicks. When he makes a big twist he makes it, when he makes a half ass twist, he misses.
ST…can I say “ass?”
i agree, this blog is never about the subject at hand. i for one will not stand for it anymore.
now on to the topic at hand.
who has a good brownie recipe, i am stuck with the box stuff thus far…=(
Homey,
you didn’t “shudder” last time
iwwthm………..i have a good one. but its a family secret. hmmm. i guess i could explain to my auntie that i gave the family secret away to tsaiko family member.
BTW, forgot to mention, thanks Barry for the poster and thank you Kekoa for the poster that can just get your juices flowing! Very inspirational!
Sledge,
1000 + Tsaiko friends would disagree with you. We don’t object to your opinions, ever, only to your insults of our host and the rest of us.
CfK – ROTFLMFAO!!!!
homey #5,
it seems like that is just one more thing not right about the whole season. it will fine. no worries chicken katsu curries….
calvin….ass is shorter than donkey. therefore, i would.
Homey
GAJCDDJCVATDYARDJSF
i think homey “shivers” instead of “shudders”.
al,
yes yes i like that idea. recipe pleeeeez.
and dpk, by the time that the sensation reaches his brain he won’t know if it is a shiver or a shudder.
Case in point >
Pauoa Boy, what dah hell you talking about Marines?
Brah, I’m an Ex-D.I.- Paradise Island – 5.5yrs. Come On!
Got nothing to do with the Marines. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!
cfk………what “the…” is GAJCDDJCVATDYARDJSF?
hi, M-homey… did you understand what Calvin just said???? ❓
chawan – So it may have something to do with the alignment of the planets and stars? For me, it all comes down to preparation and focus. Though I wouldn’t mind having some katsu curry right now. Before, couldn’t beat the $3.95 mini katsu curry from L&L or Loco Moco drive-ins. The mini was larger than Zippy’s regular size.
doris? doris? are you out there?
as one who is close to the tuata’s, do you know why gabe did not play in 3-4 games this year???
i do agree, tho’ that he would make for a fine addition to the team. he could be used like pilares, half running back half slot back. ok, call em halfbacks.
“Brah, I’m an Ex-D.I.- Paradise Island – 5.5yrs”
UH-OH… 😈 Bwahahaha!
Hi Ho for real now…
okay…back on topic.
Gabe Tuata: The word in Kona was that Gabe and his family weren’t too happy about the Gray Shirt offer from UH. He went to JC to up his D-1 stock. We may have lost him. (or maybe not)
MLiz – I think that’s what CfK say’s when he shudders.
do you mean parris island, sc?
no worry, shrimp curry.
it was my way of saying something back to
ROTFLMFAO…while I figured out what “that” meant.
Sledge696 – Pauoa Boy is just expressing his loyalty and patriotism to the Marine Corps. He has my utmost respect.
He has mine too!
“Gabe Tuata: The word in Kona was that Gabe and his family weren’t too happy about the Gray Shirt offer from UH. He went to JC to up his D-1 stock. We may have lost him. (or maybe not)”
that might have been a problem, but in the end it didnt matter. bc tuata was short a credit and didnt qualify for D1 anyway.
Paradise Island! Don’t know where that is?
A marine does.
Nough said. Love the Gang up job guys.
Goal achieved. Love it. Go Bows!!
Aloha all!!!!
That was only in U.S. numbers, he had plenty credits in Kona numbers.
I can’t tell you what I do but I can tell you that I don’t “shudder.”
That’s what I’ve been saying since last year! We were yelling that at the TV on Saturday (and by we, I mean the “Twins” and me). “Do the twisty thing!!” I say he doesn’t always make it if he does the twisty thing, but if he doesn’t do it, he misses. My thinking is that it allows him the time to slow down and not rush the kick. The rest of the team still needs to do their part to make sure that it isn’t blocked.
Bulla may be right about the plant foot. I don’t know why he seems to be hooking his kicks more frequently.
homey,
yes, on august 30th, someone sneezed and the butterfly flinched and flapped its wings irregularly which caused a hurricane in the gulf which caused it to rain before the florida game causing the humidity levels to be all out of whack which altered the game day atmosphere and thus made the ball to spin awkwardly on the opening kickoff and nothing has been correct ever since.
although i think somewhere in the galaxies a star burst, causing cosmic radiation to travel light years and finally hit the great town of las cruces, nm this past saturday. the ball started to spin back to normal out of the palm of #12 and things are on track to re-balance itself out. that will be the beginning of good things to come.
ok, i need to wake up now.
Happy birthday to our Marines, and thank you all for your service.
Happy birthday to Lyn, the pride of Waipahu. Or is homey the pride of Waipahu. After all, I heard homey is the world record holder for most black dog adobo eaten in five minutes. 😉
Garret: Interesting link about Harrell. I’m not a big fan of his, and it’s a pretty weak QB crop this year. With the underclassmen, I like Stafford and I like Bradford (although I still think he’s a year away). McCoy is so-so, but I like him a little bit more than Harrell. There are some good guys at the smaller schools, I’d like to see more from them too. We’ll see how it plays out.
* * *
We had a great Nā Koa lunch today. sj-macro, myki, WassupDoc, and I were at our table. Coach Ron Lee was the guest speaker today. He talked exclusively about the offense, breaking down the game film from a couple drives (the first two?) to show us how the offense is growing, and what problems they are still facing. I’m not going to go into details, cause uhwarriors usually posts great recaps on the Nā Koa Web site. But to all the haters, those that think Ron Lee should be fired, who are critical of him — you need to sit down and listen to this guy talk. He knows the run and shoot as well as anyone. Watching him break down the film, you really start to see how it’s a bunch of little things that screw up plays and drives. That’s something I learned while watching Coach Aranda break down film, and it’s something that Ron really emphasized today.
chawan – From what you are saying then maybe it’s the quarks. Blog Kelli is right, you are smaht!
Rob25 – So you are saying that Kelly needs to go back to his pre-kick ritual. Somewhat similar to A-Joe before he hits the golf ball…shake the booty, waggle his club, take a deep breath, exhale, loosen the shoulders, turn the head slightly, re-grip the club, look at the target…JUST HIT THE DAMN BALL ALREADY!!!!
Not everyone has the same natural talent that you have, Tiger. Me, I think I got the ball to fly about 10 yards.
Oh yeah, as for Blaze: I tried researching this very topic a few weeks ago, and I gave up. I don’t get partial qualifiers …
Yeah or he can go Happy Gilmore like your golfing and pray for the best!
He just needs to loosen the body and kick away!
Gotta go docs…see ya later.
Jason – I like Harrell because he gets the job done. It seems he can zip the ball when needed and put finesse on it too. His release is quick and he thrives in that offense. One big thing he has going for him is that he has time to go through his reads and he has quick recognition of the defensive formations.
re: Dan Kelly twisty thingy
I just got a good idea to make a Dan Kelly video compilation of his pre-snap “twist” to the tune of “the twist”.
Happy Birthday Bulla’s main bomber Lyn!!
Please drop a bomb and have a great time on your special day!!
Looking forward to the next time the squad gets together.
J-Dog
I can see it now…let’s twist again like we did last season….
OK, I’m not old enough to remember that song, but somehow it popped into my head.
See, now you know why I gotta go docs.
Does coach Mack still make the players run sprints in the middle of practice? Or was that just a fall camp thing?
J-Dog, Rob25, chawan, Stretch, sj/myki, Loa, curveball, et al – do any of you recall Kelly going through a routine when he is at the practice field or during warm-ups at games (before he kicks)?
Happy birthday, Lyn!!!
Hope you had a good time in Flagstaff. My hula brahda told me it just snowed in Flagstaff yesterday. Winter has come to the northland.
homey…when I went to practices…I rarely got to see him kick. On one of the Saturday practices…he was kicking with Symonds and I don’t recall him doing the twisty thing, but it could be more of a psychological thing to slow his approach and get loose. On the other hand, I could be totally missing something…I’m not a football player or kicker, just my insight on what I’ve seen over the last couple of years.
I mean I remember Milne had what seemed like a negative punt at UNLV a few years back. I wasn’t very fond of him, but he turned out to be okay.
OK for real, I am leaving for the doctor’s now.
homey: I will give Harrell this — he’s the best prospect Texas Tech has had under Leach. Same as how Colt was the only real legit prospect under June Jones. The game against Oklahoma will be a big chance for him to change my mind.
Now, I certainly wouldn’t mind if the 49ers drafted Harrell. He’s better than anyone we have now, and his skills would fit with what Mike Martz would want to do. Then again, I’d rather the 49ers trade for some guy with the Redskins. 😀
Jason – Yes, Oklahoma will be a another test for Harrell. He looks to be in a groove right now and we’ll see if it continues. One thing for sure is that Leach is very marketable right now.
Sledge696,
Really you funny guy, Paradise Island ah? 5.5 years an ex D.I., wow you should know better you comedian. Anyway, nevamind you too much…but mahalos anyway for the laugh!
Jason – No you can’t have Colt for the Forty-whiners! He belongs to the Redskins for life! 😀
oh da shame…… Mahalo for the correction..
Sorry SteveM..
Jason,
Thanks for the update from the Luncheon…regardless of Coach Ron and his knowledge of the offense, sometimes the play-calling got me shaking my head during games. Obviously it’s the players who gotta execute regardless but sometimes I feel they need to be put in better positions to get the first down or score. I think Coach Ron hasn’t fully opened up the arsenal yet and it may be because of the players not executing or still unable to grasp there assignments so it is second nature. Right now I feel the players are still thinking rather than just doing, which may be hampering the offensive progress forward. Not entirely the players fault though as Oline injuries, QB changes, etc…have made it difficult for the offense to have some consistency and continuity. Now that Alexander is set, AhSoon is back, I think these last couple of games will see our offense move the ball like they know how!
Also, I think the best pro prospect out of Texas Tech under Leach will be Michael Crabtree not Harrell. 🙂
Hey Mrs. Bulla
Happy Birthday!!!
jm2375: What are you talking about, biostatisticians don’t know anything about football.
Thanks Kazz and d1. I thought it was him. I heard that there were a couple of UH coaches at a school in Orange County today. It was kind of cool.
d1 – Yes, I did see the playoff schedule. Thank you for posting it.
Let’s twist baby!
Mr. Kelly…are you reading?
Jason,
I wish Colt would have gotten drafted by the 49ers. He probably would have gotten thrown into the fire since Alex Smith is a scrub, JT O’Sullivan is…a scrub. Who knows though, I’m thinking he either might get traded or unseat Campbell next year, although Campbell has been somewhat surprising this year.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MRS. BULLA!!!
She was the first person EVER to refer to me as a “Tsaiko”!
BillB,
Interesting analysis of what you’re seeing in Kelly’s mechanics & position when he kicks.
Calvin from Kona,
(finally read thru the blog) I’m planning on going to the UH-USF men’s basketball game on Friday. Get to root for both teams since USF is my alma mater.
GO WARRIORS!!!
Happy Birthday, Ms Lyn!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Pauoa Boy,
Crabtree is a freak! Won’t be too long before he plays in Aloha Stadium in February!
btw, saw your list of Warrior Marines…any word on Ross Dickerson?
Pauoa Boy: I think you said it perfectly, it’s not second-nature yet for the players. But as Coach Ron showed us today, they are starting to get it. I will say this — as a former WR coach, he was quick to point out things the receivers can do better. But for those clamoring for the backups to be put in, I also got the impression that they just aren’t ready for live play yet, even though they want to get more of a rotation in. I can understand the argument for getting those players game reps, but I can also understand keeping the starters in, especially because they are still growing and improving too. In the end, I think this will help us these last three games, as they will be better prepared to lead us as we try to make our run for the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl.
And with respect to Crabtree, I was talking about QB prospects when I talked about Harrell. Of course, Crabtree is legit, the man is a beast.
pboy…..i totally agree with you that we are heading on to the right track offensively.
we also finally employed the short passing game, that which freezes linebackers from being too overly zealous in their quest to sack the quarterback. i like the poise that alexander displays in the pocket.
Pauoa Boy,
I ALMOST became a Marine out of high school, but alas the military life is not for me.
It was a Sgt. Batman (actually spelled BATTMAN I think) that tried to recruit me. So you can imagine how I felt when I answered the phone to someone calling himself “Sgt. Batman”.
Jason – what the heck is a biostatistician? What do they do? Okay all you germs, will the virus’ raise your hands and keep them up till I’m done counting. Any bacteria out there?
d1島,
Not sure about Ross, haven’t looked him up. I can check though…try give me a few…
Jason,
I knew what you meant, just making trouble…hence my smiley face since I don’t know how to make a sly smirk face haha…
Pvt. Robin?
for those about to rock, we salute you and…
for those going to the basketball game on Friday, how about we meet for beers at the old Magoo’s before the game? 5pm too early?
A yellow bird with a yellow bill
Was perched upon my window sill
I lured him in with a piece of bread
And then I smashed his little head[
kelly’s woes………….
i agree it is the position of his plant foot. to wit, he is stepping too “closed” and therefore, to compensate proper direction he is “swinging” to quickly to readjust the directional path of the football. thus, he is improperly “squared up” to the plane of the ball.
that “twist” is just a timing thing and that is pre-snap so it doesn’t factor in the results other than to settle him or as a timing thing.
(oh, and rob25, that song is too old for me too.)
Happy Birthday Lyn!!!
I liked that the offense spread it out in the Red Zone. Gotta avoid doing like Philly who got stuffed for trying to emulate a Smash Mouth offense. UH will keep getting better results by sticking with its base O.
Kazz,
No worries the military life is not for everybody especially the Marines. They don’t call us The Few and The Proud for nothing. Regardless, though we all appreciate the support from all whether you served or not. My cousin just join the Army, so although I gave him some tuff love about it, it’s all good I guess haha.
The only yellow bird with a yellow bill I know is Big Bird. Kinda large to be sitting on a window sill.
BigWave:
John Manu–Olevao went to West Oahu, which is part of the UH system, which means he won’t be eligible until he gets a certain amount of credits.
d1島,
Is Ross Dickerson’s middle initial T.???
al: I like Alexander’s poise, too. Although Coach Ron showed us quite a few plays where Alexander is missing his man, not making the reads fast enough, stuff like that. So obviously, he has lots to improve on. Then again, he’s doing pretty fine right now as it is. I’d love to see him when he really feels comfortable doing everything at full speed.
I’m still a big fan of Rausch, but I gotta admit, the Greg Alexander we see now is way different from the one I saw in fall camp. Glad to see he caught up so fast, I wasn’t sure he’d be able to do it.
Pauoa Boy: Eh, no make trouble with me. I can divide by zero and destroy the universe, you know. 😛
homey: IDK, biostatistics is as real a field as computer science and civil engineering. I guess they do the same thing you and Stretch do, go “marketing.” 😛
Jason,
Uhhh…kay shoots den disregard that post I not that good at arithmetic so I take your word for it bwahaha!
Nah, fo reals though just think if the 49ers drafted Colt and Lelie stayed…hmm, I wonder???
Jason – I do not go ‘marketing’ like Stretch. I’m retired from ‘marketing’. I’m so out of the loop that nowadays they have state of the art tools for ‘marketing’.
“marketing” aka. drinking
They say that in the Army the coffee’s mighty fine
It looks like muddy water and tastes like turpentine
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won’t let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH!
They say that in the Army the chow is mighty fine
a chicken jumped off the table and started marking time
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won’t let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH!
They say that in the Army the biscuits are mighty fine
one rolled off the table and killed a friend of mine
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won’t let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH!
They say that in the Army the training’s might fine
last night there were ten of us, now there’s only nine
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won’t let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH!
They say that in the Army the pay is mighty fine
they give you a hundred dollars and take back ninety-nine
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won’t let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH
CFK: Big Island marketing different from O‘ahu marketing.
BTW, I’ll be there on Friday for the game, but not for the pre-game drinks.
A little mouse
with little feet
Was perched upon
my toilet seat
I pushed him in
I flushed him down
I watched him spin
’round and ’round
Alright, let’s go 49ers! (Please don’t post updates, for al’s sake.)
Jason, is Travis LaBoy playing?
Howzit Aunty Ronnie
Jason,
Couple Hawaii guys in this game, and although Rossum took it back, I’m taking the Cards in this one…
Pauoa Boy,
Not sure about M.I.
Cardinals are on offense right now, so I can’t say. He is not on the inactive list — I checked that.
Shh, no updates, Pauoa Boy. You don’t want al going all crazy.
Oline looked much improved in the redzone. Libre walked in untouched. I thought they did a really good job overall.
Homey, Jason – THIS biostatistician does NOT go Stretch-style “marketing”! grrrrr. 😈
d1島,
If it is then he stationed in Quantico…
Jason, noted I going watch the game so be back later…
What was that penalty, I was actively ignoring jm2375’s post so I didn’t hear who it was called on. All I saw was Jeff Ulbrich shoving a Cardinal. 🙁
Ok, I just saw my boy Travis… And Jeff Ulbrich just got a personal foul for a ‘blow to the head’ on the kick off return…
Sorry, al, no more updates from me….
BTW, hubby just asked me if he should get a flu shot. Uhh, duuuhh, YES!!!
GET YOUR FLU SHOT everyone!!!
I guess that was an unsportsmanlike conduct on the 49ers, as we are backed up on this drive.
Travis LaBoy starting for the Cardinals, just made a tackle.
Laboy in.
Ulbrich flagged for Unnec Rough on KOR 👿
PB,
Like Jason said, no talk about the opening KO; but was cool, eh?
heheheh
Why oh why does jaws have to be a MNF commentator? It’s one of the reasons I don’t like to watch…
Thanks for checking, PB!
ST, any big fish that we don’t know about that the coaches are visiting this week?
Yeah, I meant unnecessary roughness, not unsportsmanlike conduct. I really shouldn’t do three things (watch game, do homework, blog) at the same time.
Alright, going cut al some slack today.
laters….
Ronnie: I actually like Ron Jaworski, he’s usually a really good commentator. Except for one time this past April, of course.
So, do we all get the same commercials? I like that commercial for the Marines.
Because of the spinning rifles, it reminds me of when my brother was in the King’s guard and they did a performance with only the light of a street light for my grandfather’s birthday.
We got that commercial too, Ronnie. Although they splice local commercials today. “Easy to use Island Pages!” Pfleuger Honda going on now. 😀
Jason, he may be… but when someone messes with my family, it takes me awhile to let it go… 😉
I meant, “Although they splice in local commercials too.”
Here’s a Navy commercial.
Aloha Tsaiko’s.. Getting on board a little late.
Master Tsai, doesn’t an athlete’s eligibility clock start with their “graduating class”? I’m confused on this one. Blaze didn’t enroll out of high school. Went HPU to build grades. Enroll 2006, so if one medical redshirt year is allowed then he should have two more to go. Maybe wishful thinking on my part. I hate to see him back for three games and lose the season. I’m thinking we’ll be able to watch him on Sunday’s one day.
HawaiianBod….Smoked out my clavical a few years back during a ride on the back road of Haleiwa, heading up to Pupukea for some trail riding.
Came up over a hill and the road was washed out. Front tire went into a rut and me wents head over the bars, did a 360 and landed on my neck and left shoulder. I thought seeing stars was only in the cartoons but let me tell you it was like watching the Fourth of July at Ala Moana park! Beautiful!
But anyhoo, my clavical was snapped and part of it was sticking out of the skin. Went to the ER, they put a splint on it and sent me to see the Dr. the next day. The Dr. was really proud of the scar he gave me after the operation but it went well. Today that clavical is stronger than the right side. Your boy going be ok. Takes some rehab to get the stiffness and range of motion back but no hurt. Not much nerves in that area. Good luck to your boy.
I didn’t know WAC officials were officiating NFL games now. The ref blew that call, IMO.
mnf….mmmpfftt. arrrghghhhhhhhh. quiet please. sssshhhhhhhhh.
nah, no worry, shrimp curry.
done with the weekend “for amusement purposes only”. so not pulling on this one. mahalo, to the warriors btw.
What a grab.
We are being quiet, al. Nobody posted about the 85-yard TD pass from Kurt Warner to Larry Fitzgerald.
Nah, just kidding, that didn’t happen. It was a 43-yard run for Frank Gore. 😉
(If I’m going to make stuff up, then at least the 49ers should be the ones scoring.) 😀
Hmmm I just realized one thing…
With our offense finding it’s groove and Idaho coming to town in two weeks I wonder if our cannon has it’s new ammo yet.
Last time there were a little more than a handful of shots left and I think they fired off 5 of them at the Nevada game…
(Leave it to me to worry about little things li dat…)
By what I was told they had nine rounds left for the cannon before the Nevada game, if they fired off five that would leave four left, if they haven’t got anymore from the factory….
PB,
Lived around the military all my life; don’t know any other. My dad was in the NAVY – Never Again Volunteer Yourself. All kidding aside…He started from the bottom and worked his way to the top. He is the proudest military man I know and he will do anything for his country and he will always be grateful and honored to have served. He’s retired now…He continues to be loyal and volunteers on base. I took him to see the Mighty Mo for the first time a few months back. The admiration on his face as he gazed at the ship was priceless and brought tears to my eyes….
Hoohiki – didn’t the smell of the interrior of the Mighty Mo bring back memories? It’s one of those things I’ll never forget…
Yup. They ordered them through a local merchant and they have to ship them snail mail due to hazards shipping explosive material via air they were quoted about a month. I think the band ordered them about three weeks ago.
ah, Kazz…dey should talk to the guys blowing the stuff off after games…they probably get connections to pyrotechnic suppliers…
re:cannon
james, good point. we could just rely on the folks out in the parking lot with their stash of aerials. that was great to see last year. although they should’ve been smarter and light and run rather than keep lighting from the same spots.
How ’bout dem Niners!
Brew! Wea U @!
Sledge696 ~ Is that why you picked ‘Sledge’ for a blog handle?…So that you can wield it like one.
You’d be surprised at how much we Tsaiko’s have done to support UH football. How many Sports blogs can say they had a direct influence on getting the Hawaii Legislature to allocate $25 million towards UH Atheletics? We have an extentsive list of regular bloggers who can.
Who do you think got the work started on the Ching/Cooke field project? A couple of Tsaiko Lawyers and a Tsaiko Lobbyist, that’s who!
Can you name one thing you’ve done to advance the support of the Warriors outside of griping about offense/defense/special teams play?
We’ve had fund raisers or two along the way at our gatherings, and we plan to continue as time and circumstances permit. Some have had nothing to do with Warrior football. Some were just charity cases we thought were worthy of our support.
Shootz we get plenny people that can talk your ears off about football around here…but why confine it to jez dat?
Life happens all around us 24/7 and we all live it to the fullest. X’s and O’s can be interesting to some, great. They post – we choose to read it or not. Simple. Garret posts some really interesting stuff nearly everyday that is off topic but really riveting stuff…to some. Others are warned by him to scroll past if dey like.
Bottom line it’s your choice bull. You no like our free-wheeling association, go to anodda blog that caters to your needs. Don’t come ovah hea and try change ours! Especially if you nevah even show your face at one of our functions to Wala’au with us!
Hey! every day last week, I posted invitations to everybody that reads this blog to come out and join us at Bay View Golf Course. If you read the posts since, there is lots of positive feedback about how much fun it was. Next weekend (11/22) we T-gate as usual…come out, say your peace, we stand behind what’s said here. Step up or step out.
What?…Footbal can’t be fun? Gotta be all analytical? All Strategical?…Young players barely outta there teens have gotta be like Robots who nevah make mistakes? Coaches may never err. C’mon, Get real. How can you enjoy dissecting youngsters giving it their best shot and expect us to be dead serious about it too?!
Borderline trolls make me go crazy sometimes, sorry for the rant folks, I going soak my head in a bucket of red star now, and then go have dinner with Diana. Haaaah…Laterz!
(Jesse) James:
November 10th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
ah, Kazz…dey should talk to the guys blowing the stuff off after games…they probably get connections to pyrotechnic suppliers…
(Jesse) James Illegal pyrotechnic suppliers… was wondering though if these shots were 10 gauge shotgun shells. There must be someone out there that has that caliber and could reload blanks with the proper equipment. Any hunter/gun enthusiast out there? Just in case….
Hoohiki,
Nice…no worry all us military guys get choke jokes…I’ve heard all the Jarhead ones already so it’s all in good fun. Anyway, I respect any one who has served no matter what branch. My family is also full of retired, Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines. During lil kid days I played sports year round in the military leagues at K-Bay, Schofield, Hickam, etc… always good memories.
Kaimuki Kid…I was being sarcastic…LOL…
10 gauge eh? Hmmm…I wonder if my hunting friends would know…??? What about somebody from Young Guns???
Hehe, I wonder if both offensive coordiantors have been watching UH football. That San Francisco run just now was similar to UH’s “Tampa.” And there was that shovel pass earlier in the game by Kurt Warner. 😛
James and Kaimuki Kid,
Young Guns in Mapunapuna is the first place Chawan suggested so I called them and they knew what I was asking for but they didn’t have it nor is it in their catalog to order from.
I then called Magnum Firearms and they also do not carry those shells which are indeed 10-guage.
The guy at Magnum said that he was surprised the band has a cannon as he claims you need a Class 3 license to own and operate those signal cannons as they can fire a live shot.
I also called the Waikiki Gun Club and another place in town with no such luck. These things are hard to find on island.
There are few places online that people here suggested and I looked up “cannonmania.com” and they had 10-guage shells for a good price and they do ship to Hawaii, but a more detailed search into their practices led to some complaints with the Better Business Bureau so I stayed away from that, plus I kept calling during their local business hours to no answer and to no response left on their machine, plus the e-mail address on their website keeps returning with the “invalid address” message.
A few other sites online have the blanks but do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska…
The band ordered their ammo three weeks ago through a local company they dealt with in the past and now it’s just a matter of waiting for them to arrive. Also, I was told that the price for the shells they ordered were WAY cheaper than the stuff I found online considering the amount of shells in a box.
Brah, dem guyz always get busted… so… with that in mind anyone know someone in da evidence room at HPD??? Garans dey get em’!!! Hahahahahaha!!!
so, anyone stand in line for a Hawai’i quarter?
If they were smarter (and funnier) they should set them off near the visiting team’s fans and then run away!!! 😆
Hmm…. FSU is coming here next year…. mwhahahahahahahaha!!!!
Favorites for going to the Hawaii Bowl.
Sheraton Hawaii
(WAC vs. Pac-10) Hawaii vs. Buffalo Hawaii vs. Stanford
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowlprojection?season=2008&week=11
Not sure if Stanford is going to be eligible.
The Fighting Trees only need one more win to be that PAC 10 eligible 6th place team right?
I didn’t stand in line, but since I already work at the bank the line was.. um…. how do you say…. “un-necessarily long”.
I dunno I guess since I don’t collect these things I don’t understand the madness. I understand the significance, but yeah…
I joked today that if JJ was on the state quarter the lines wouldn’t have been so long. To which my co-worker replied, that he’d be on IOUs instead, to which I replied that he’d be on about 200,000 – 400,000 of them! 😆
Hawaiian blood, not sure you got an answer, but my daughter broke her clavicle at 13, and I had a soccer player I coached break a clavicle at 17. The late Dr. Alan Richardson, great orthopedic surgeon treated both.
Basically, if you are going to break a bone, the clavicle may be the best bone to break is what Dr. Richardson said. In almost every case, it needs no bracing or strapping (old-time treatment no longer used). If you look at the Xrays, it is almost a miracle how it comes together, heals, and aligns itself. First you see the break and the clavicle out of alignment, then a lump of calcium forms to join the break like a lump of putty, then the bones align over time and the calcium lump shrinks down, and everything is fine.
Main thing for the patient is no play around, because when it is healing you don’t want to stick your arm out, fall on your shoulder, get playfully bumped, etc. You don’t want to rebreak it before it is fully healed. I recall almost full healing taking a little over 2 months, possibly less for partial healing, but for contact sports, you don’t want to take a chance. My daughter and the player I coached went back to playing as soon as the xrays showed healing.
Kazz,
I started collecting the quarters because I thought it was a cool idea. Now, I have only 2 more until I have all 50. I’m thinking of collecting the ones for next year too. 😀
Ronnie,
I think you can buy them through the US Mint right? But you probably have to purchase a lot at one time.
Kazz,
But get volume discount, right?
heheheh
I think you’re right, Kazz, but part of the fun is getting the quarters as change. I know, I really need a life 😆
Ronnie,
next year’s quarters?
Good Evening Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
First of all I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to Mrs. Lyn Bulla Bomber!
Also a Happy Birthday to The Marines!
For this past weekend (from which I am still recovering) I would like to thank our planners extraordinaire Kekoa and Koakane for an absolutely divine time fulla “Fs”. The prizes were great, food was delicious (how ’bout dem cookies?!), the service was good and the company was unsurpassed. The after activities were sooooo much fun. I think I had about two full buckets of fun. Yikes!
BG– Thanks for leading us in the cheers! Hope your lungs are okay.
Homes– Too bad about your beer problem. When you leave your beer unguarded at one end of the table while you, your ball and your beef stick go to the other end of the table to sweet talk the ladies…….yeah…..that’s what happens.
It was fun hitting balls with you, though. I have never seen anyone other than Happy himself do the Happy Gilmore as deftly as you did, especially with so little runway space. Next time, we’ll take it downstairs and crank dem woods. I tink we is in trouble wit the house behind da driving range. Shhhhh….
To the Twins, Mrs. Heineken Healer, Rob25 (or rather Rob44) and Jason– Hope you guys had fun hitting the balls. Ya did good!
I can’t wait for our next outing!
I hope Blaze heals up good. I REALLY want him to play again.
Oh…and Brew– Go Niners!
Have a good evening everyone and Go Warriors!
chawan_cut,
Yeah, from the other seven states 🙄
Ronnie,
Next year’s quarters?
😆 😆 😆

ronnie, kazz,
they sell the quarters as a set per year or with the rest of the mint coins.
i got a set thats sealed. i wanted to guarans me a set. i’ll then collect as i find them.
and you know hawaii people. when something is popular, they horde it. i don’t think we’ll see too many hawaii quarters in circulation here in the islands.
Interesting stats found by “dakineguy” at Sports Hawaii:

d1,
maybe for Guam and Puerto Rico?
Just dropping in to wish Lynn (Mrs. Bulla) a very Happy Birthday ! Looking forward to seeing you two soon. Seems like you’ve been gone forever. Have a great week.
cold sweat and chills for Jason as the 49’ers ship start sinking with 4 minutes to go.
SteveM,
sj and I will be at the WVB game but will join you all later. Game starts at 5 so we shouldn’t be too late.
chawan_cut,
Next year is for Washington DC and the territories.
http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/DCAndTerritories/
Fo real… I just saw one of my co-workers with 5 rolls of them as they kept sending other people to buy them as the bank was limiting one per customer.
I asked them are they for other people? They said “no”. I asked them do you plan on selling them on ebay or something? They said “no”.
Unless it’s something functional, I don’t know why you’d need more than one of the same exact thing.
For example, how would other UH fans feel if you had five of the same Colt Brennan-signed helmets sitting at home and you’re not going to sell them??? 😆
Happy birthday to one special lady, Mrs. Bulla, and to an incredible group of men and women, the US Marine Corps!!!
Click on my name for a the original movie trailer of a super movie — turn the volume up!
happy birthday Marines, esp. Pauoa boy and Frank….
Hill attempts a shove pass to whom, and it was ugly and unnecessary….
What a crazy game!
Zona’s giving away the game.
Niner’s don’t want it.
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!
Hi Ronnie! Back from dinner with Diana. Blood Pressure back down to 125/88…getting notes ready for a morning mtg at the Plaza Club with some VC peeps that Roy is doing a presentation for.
Did you get my note about contacting Roy? He has very important info for you about conference calls.
Also, sent email about your schedule for Dec. Trying to plan something with all the Tsaiko Villagers while you are on island.
Please drop a note if you’re able.
d1,
I did some “marketing” with Rogers Ishizu, who’s a football legend at Linfield. Ask your son next time you talk to him. Rogers played in the late 60’s, early 70’s. When it comes to golfing, Rogers is just like Stretch…..sandbagger! 🙂
HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY to Mrs Bulla!
Hawaii should mint their own quarters…
Every month we’ll do another district or town in Hawaii.
The Waianae Quarter – image of car theives.
The Waimanalo Quarter – image of a cockfight scene
The Pearl City Quarter – image of senior citizens at McDonalds at 6am.
The Laie Quarter – image of a town completely shut down on Sundays.
The Chinatown Quarter – image of that guy on the funny bike with the pennant-shaped flag in the back blocking a lane of traffic.
The Hawaii Kai Quarter – …. (is not a quarter but a credit report.)
The Waipahu Quarter – (see Waimanalo Quarter)
The Wapio/Waipahu Quarter – soccer field
The Mililani Quarter – images of emo kids in front of town center
Happy Birthday to Mrs Bulla. May there be many more.
kazz,
thats too good.
Unless all these hidden stashes at home gets stolen by some druggies, then we’ll see them all over the place.
Good Evening Everyone:
DrDoc is back in his room after going through a 3-hour surgical procedure to install a pacemaker/defibrillator in his chest.
Again, those of you with XY chromosones – if you don’t smoke, aren’t diabetic, of normal weight, exercise regularly, have reasonable cholesterol and blood pressure measurements, and are 40 to 60 years old, don’t assume that you will not be clipped by a heart attack.
Calvin – I’ll be at the basketball game on Friday as well as Sunday plus the last regular season volleyball game on Saturday. As far as I know, Jason, Mei Ling, and Chawan-Cut will also be going. Anyone else?
Where is the place you want to meet up with located?
Hey Kekoa,
I got your message. Can I give you a call tomorrow? I don’t want to bother you tonight.
tonight’s news
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sQdpcvCbT8
wow Brew and Jason must be in deep depression, no post from either of them in a while….set the bar very low for the 49’ers and you’ll be under less stress…
Ronnie ~ No Problem…it’s all good for tonite or early morning. No Mo curfew! I’ve put my work notes away, and just sitting here trying to work out some bass guitar notes with Diana. She’s getting frustrated with me I can tell…
OK, I’m back again.
Quite a day.
I don’t want to give it all away, but we’re going to have some stuff with Colt this weekend.
Whooo, good thing I came back and read the addendum about it being Miz Eastman’s birthday today!
Happiest birthday of birthdays to the Queen Bomber! I worship at your feet, seriously.
Bulla, what a CATCH of a gal you got there! 😀
Hope you two got to celebrate big time, in style!
What? WHAT?! “Stuff with Colt this weekend …” ?! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN, ST?! *faints*
Okay.. I got a football question for all you statistical geniuses out there.
On average, how many defensive plays and offensive plays did JJ have per game?
Is there a team average based on the new clock standards?
I’m just wondering how many calls are made so that we can tally the so called “bad” calls against the totality of the situation.
Ralph: No, I just went to eat a late dinner. I didn’t want to post anymore during the game, lest I give details away.
MIH: I haven’t been updating it for this season, but:
http://www.deep-mirrors.org/jason/tsai/statistics/hawaii.pdf
Oh, I see now. ST’s just gonna keep us all in suspense.
O_O *blink, blink…*
* heart palpitations *
The Princess is going to D.C. to meet with Colt. She’ll have stories and videos.
We’re going to stuff some autograph-able items in her carry-on bag.
Hmmm…methinks the Princess will not be using the experienced traveler line at the TSA checkpoint…
Re: Blaze. Chance ‘um.
LA Tech vs. Buffalo. Death of the Hawaii Bowl? Luckily it’s not going to come to that.
Happy birthday to Mrs Bulla and many more happy returns.
Ronnie:
I stood in line for over an hour, but walked away with 5 rolls of Hawaii quarters. All for Midori7 and Masaboy.
ST – must be nice, knowing Colt well enough to have him autograph all that swag for free. Or maybe at a steep discount?
Happy Birthday Mrs. Bulla!
Jason,
Thanks,… I’ll go add em up..
Free play link time. Please ignore my next 5 posts if you do not want the off-topic stuff.
DHL is stopping express deliveries to the US, closing all of its hubs, and laying off almost all of their US workers. DHL lost $10 billion in the US since it bought Airborne Express and tried to challenge FedEx and UPS.
Aid to the Governor of New York failed to pay income taxes or file returns from 2001 to 2005…his lawyer said that his client has “late-filing syndrome”. I think that this is a bogus defense, since it states that this professional who makes more than $100k per year can do every task in life except for filing taxes. In that case, anyone who fails to pay taxes could claim the defense!
The TSA plans to allow passengers to bring large bottles of liquids on airplanes starting sometime next year.
Amazing that a bird can fly 7,242 miles non-stop. Alaska to New Zealand over an 8-day period!
Happy Birthday.. Mrs. Bulla.
Liz,
thanks for the Colt update earlier.. got pulled away by work and didn’t get a chance to extend my appreciation.. mahalos!
Having a high IQ at age 10 is linked to higher levels of alcohol intake and drinking problems during adulthood.
Free play links pau.
ST,
I hope that the Princess has a great time in DC! Hopefully she can get to where she wants to go via the Metro–very efficient, no need to figure out how to drive and park in the area. Offering Colt stuff will really bring out the lurkers…hopefully the blog servers can handle it.
😯
what’s wrong d1? now you have an excuse.. imbibe!
Happy Birthday to Mrs. Bulla, Lyn!! Hope Mr. Bulla treated you VERY well today.
Although they fell short this past week, I feel like this comment is pretty reassuring about #2 son’s decision to play and study where he is.
It’s kind of a nice reminder about why you play football in the first place and why so many of us love the game. Sadly, the conduct of their opponent served as an example of just the opposite.
Garret?
Wha?? No more Airborne Express? Not that I had been using them lately. I used them a lot when I was on the other side of the Koolaus.
forgot to include the link.
mih,
Who said I was excluding myself?
To do so would border on being one babooze!
heheheh
Garret,
You just made Koakane’s day.
Now he can book his flight for the UNLV game. 😉
Boy, where is everyone? Isn’t it a holiday tomorrow?
Oh well, not for me….
Oyasumina-tsai…
Good nite d1! Sorry you gotta work tomorrow! hehehehe

Bakery employee: “Hello, dis is Da Kine Bakery, how can I help you?”
Customer: “I would like to order a cake for a going away party this week.”
Bakery employee: “Wot you like on da cake?”
Customer: “Best wishes Susan” and underneath that ” We will miss you.”
End result when customer picks up the cake…
Best Wishes Susan
Under Neat that
We will miss you
🙂
Hey! jm2375 … you messing up da clubhouse?
SteveM: Don’t know about karaoke…going to the Wm’s VB game.
Happy Birthday to Lyn Eastman and many more to come!
ST- did Colt get to go hunting in CA last week? He missed a fun time at Disney World with the Cooleys and Campbells.
Wish I could send my Redskins football along with Da Princess 😆
