In a week’s span, former UH assistant coach Phil Rauscher attended a ceremony at the White House and received a Super Bowl ring.
Rauscher was the Warriors’ tight ends coach in 2012 and 2013. Last year, he was hired as a coaching assistant with the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos were invited to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl 50 victory.
“It was an unbelievable trip,” said Rauscher, a history buff. “We got there, and it was nothing but first class the whole way. It was awesome to meet the President.”
Earlier this week, the Broncos received their Super Bowl rings.
In two weeks, Rauscher will get another ring. He and his fiancee, Lacey Lavarias, a former executive assistant for the Warriors, will be married on June 29.
“We’re getting married in Alaska,” Rauscher said. “We’re going on a cruise, and getting married on a glacier. It’s a little different. It’s not exactly Hawaii, but it’ll be nice.”
