Southern comfort

MONROE , La. — Well, this city is unique.

Apparently, crawfish can be prepared in so many different ways.

The Warriors will be able to experience the Southern hospitality when they arrive (by charter) this afternoon. They had an extended walk-through at the University of Houston this morning.

My question I just posted on yesterday’s blog..

I can’t find any articles stating that Petersen is making less than 1.28 million per year.. As far as I can see, the 600k on his contract is his buyout. Can someone post a link?

The State Board of Education unanimously approved a new five-year, $8 million contract for head football coach Chris Petersen. Under the contract, Petersen will make $1.28 million this year and an additional $200,000 if he is still head coach of the Broncos in February of next year.

Under his old contract, Petersen would have made $1.30 million this year and an additional $250,000 if he still holds his position in Feb. 2011.

Petersen’s new contract features a $600,000 buyout, likely larger than the buyout in previous contract, but nowhere near large enough to stop a school from going after him. If there’s proof needed to show Petersen’s comfort on the job, his current contract comes with automatic one-year extensions for every season that the Broncos win over eight regular season games, practically guaranteeing him a job in Boise as long as he wants it.

    http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/05/11/boises-petersen-takes-pay-cut-with-extension/

Pat Hill’s looks to be 850 guaranteed and some incentives..

Hill will take a more than $300,000 cut in guaranteed pay in 2011, an extraordinary concession to a school budget stretched thin by the troubled economy. His guaranteed take of $650,000 remains considerable, but he’ll have to cash in heavily on incentives to match, or even approach, his nearly seven-figure earnings in 2010.

Article about the MWC’s commissioner talking about how Air Force could join the Big East.

Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson said there’s “no question there have been conversations” between Air Force and the Big East Conference. But he said that and other issues involving conference realignment might drag on into 2012.

    http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/sep/29/mountain-west-waiting-game-air-force/

  27. Garret September 30, 2011 9:38 am

C-USA is paying the Big 12’s commissioner, not the MWC. It is interesting that C-USA is paying for the work being done on the MWC/C-USA merger…clearly, C-USA is more interested in the merger than the MWC.

Thompson said he was not aware of any overtures between Mountain West member Boise State and the Big 12, which also is considering adding teams.

Neinas is now the interim head of the Big 12 but has been serving as a consultant for Conference USA on a possible postseason championship game against the Mountain West. It’s possible the Big 12 might want to poach members of the Mountain West or Conference USA, presenting a conflict of interest for Neinas.

Thompson said Neinas is retained by Conference USA and that the Mountain West does not pay him. If a potential conflict arose, Thompson said his league and Neinas would address it.

  28. Garret September 30, 2011 9:39 am

Memphis’ AD talked about how the MWC/CUSA merger could come in 2013, but how things couldn’t move fast enough for 2012.

”It probably wouldn’t be 2012, but we are trying to move as quickly as possible,” Johnson said. ”Not all of the school presidents have been (briefed).”

Cutting 5 football scholarships (and 5 women’s scholarships) would be good for UHAD’s bottom line, but I’m not too positive on the impact for football and whatever women’s sport that might be cut. Raising the APR and capping the full cost of attendance for athletic scholarships at $2,000/year (the previous estimate had an increase of $6,000/year for UH) is not bad for UH.

Among other topics discussed, Johnson said, were reducing the maximum number of a scholarships for football from 85 to 80; re-doing the NCAA manual; raising the Academic Progress Rates (APR) from 925 to 930 and capping the full cost of attendance for athletic scholarships at $2,000. Current scholarships cover tuition, housing, books and other fees.

  31. Garret September 30, 2011 9:42 am

BSU and a lot of other teams are banged up on the OL just like UH. I remember what Texas lost all 4 of their TEs for the season due to injury one year, so they went from a pro-set offense to a 4-WR offense…and went undefeated in the regular season and made it to the national title game.

The Boise State football team already has used 10 offensive linemen with the first team this season.

Some backups played by design — but nearly all have been called upon to replace an injured starter, too.

Is Boise wearing UA shoes, too? 😉

  33. letsgowarriors September 30, 2011 9:48 am

every team deals w injuries. mack uses them as excuses though.

  34. Kevin September 30, 2011 9:52 am

I imagine IF UH ever gets to that point where they cut 5 football schollies and 5 female ones, the 5 female scholarships would be a mass cut in that it would spread out over several female programs.

I don’t think they can cut 5 female scholarships off one female sport. If they cut 5 female basketball schollies, it is not in tune with the men’s basketball program.

Volleyball and softball don’t seem comparable to their male counterparts since men’s volleyball has a MEASLEY 4.5, but softball and baseball have 12 a piece and I dunno if softball and baseball are comparable considering they are obviously different sports.

However, 5 schollies off ONE male sport such as football should be that detrimental to competitveness as opposed to one or two schollies off of women’s volleyball or softball where the loss of one schollie or even two would make a difference.

BUT, if it’s across the board nationally, everyone would be at the same page per se.

  35. madeinhawaii September 30, 2011 9:55 am

Water Polo, Track and Field, Tennis, Golf, Sailing… what else? … do Cheerleaders get athletic scholarships?

  36. madeinhawaii September 30, 2011 9:58 am

    Swimming and Diving.. Soccer…

I would think they would take 1 off the ones that would survive regardless of whether they had scholarship athletes or not… like Golf, Sailing, Tennis, Swimming and Diving… Soccer? … Track and Field… (assuming all these sports have scholarships to offer in the first place.)

  37. Kevin September 30, 2011 9:59 am

In fact all sports with roster sizes of 25 and less would be effected with the loss of a handful of scholarships.

One less schollie in women’s volleyball results in one less Jane Croson or Emily Hartong.

One less schollie in softball results in one less Ricketts, Parnaby, Majam, or Iwata.

    And so forth.

However I think a sport like baseball with a roster of nearly 30 would be devestated with anything less than 12 or 12.5 schollies. The ratio alone is way off. For instance you don’t want your bullpen depth to be a victim of less available schollies. While this won’t happen to baseball, one can imagine the impact.

If football loses 5 I think it will be a drop in the bucket. When you have the ratio of 80+/100 when it comes to schollies and roster size, the numbers speak for themselves.

Cheerleading counts as a co-ed sport like sailing at UH so I know they have scholarships, but the amount is something I don’t know off hand.

All the others like cross-country, men and women’s diving, water polo, mens and womens tennis and so forth all have schollies but the amount again I dunno.

Gotta figure two or three of those sports have quite a few international players and it ain’t cheap coming to UH Manoa out of state let alone out of country.

  40. Couch potato September 30, 2011 10:06 am

    Boise is a Nike user.

Petersen’s current salary is $1.28 mil with $200,000 if he is still head coach. previous salary was $1.3 mil and $250,000 if he is still head coach. all this is written in what was posted. therefore, he took a pay cut.

La Tech’s, Quinton Patton-wr 6’2″/195lbs., I think he is going to give UH fits…especially since Tank Hopkins always has a tuff time with taller wr’s.

Go to the Shreveport Times, there’s a couple artilces about this athlete.

  60. Garret September 30, 2011 10:44 am

    A-House,

I honestly don’t follow the day-to-day happenings in Boise so I don’t know what companies that person was referring to. I looked things up and Micron’s website said that they are still headquartered in Boise. Micron bought Numonyx for $1.2 bil last year after rebounding from layoffs in 2009.

    http://www.boiseweekly.com/boise/good-times-micron-closes-12-billion-deal-profits-on-the-upswing-in-2010/Content?oid=1597450

When I googled Boise business information I saw that OfficeMax was bought by Boise Cascade Corporation for $1.3 bil. Their website says that they are still headquartered in Boise, ID:

    http://officemax.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=60

I am sure that there are layoffs in Boise, that is happening everywhere…except for maybe Silicon Valley where Google, Facebook and others are hiring aggressively and recruiters have hundreds of positions to fill.

  61. Garret September 30, 2011 10:47 am

La Tech’s biggest problem is that they have been coming close, but haven’t been able to close the deal aside from a win in OT vs. Central Arkansas. When your starting QB is 17 years old, that type of stuff can happen until he gets more experience. Hopefully UH’s defense will confuse him with their blitz scheme and coverage mix and get him to make some mistakes…I’m glad that UH is facing La Tech early in the season before their QB learns how to win and gets more adjusted to D-IA football.

  62. mctruck September 30, 2011 10:48 am

my #59, re: Patton…forgot to mention he runs a 4.4/40 as well; all kinds off info on him on the net…check it out.

  69. Kevin September 30, 2011 11:04 am

If the purpose of the NCAA and athletic scholarships is to funnel in student-athletes to a university for the ultimate goal of academic success paid for through their athletic capabilities then what effects the fans, is a moot point.

So the real question is, what is the real value of athletic scholarships in TODAY’S world?

To give to student-athletes that earned them and will do good with their degree?

    OR

To fund a business, the business of college sports?

The ugly truth is that the value of scholarships in the eyes of most fans are only worth of mens basketball and football.

The ugly TRUTH is that 80% of college sports fans don’t give two donkey dumps that the football or basketball player going to study hall, practice, workouts, etc… are doing the same things some unknown kid on the golf team is doing the SAME to bust his/her ass to earn a college degree and to try to do it for free.

My rant is a discussion based on ethics, NOT business and the line between the two are most evident on the real field of academic pursuit and athletic success.

All one has to do is to take a look at what our modern-day sports society has created and when you have scholarships being tossed out to kids that jump to the NBA after a year or two and never to be seen from again in class… well… go justify the ethical nature of that to the kid sitting in the science or law lab at 11pm because he/she just got off their part time job when he or she has a game to deal with tomorrow along with a mid-term.

Sorry Jimmy, sorry Jane no schollie kala for you. You don’t wear shorts or a helmet.

  70. Garret September 30, 2011 11:05 am

Makes sense, not all FBS programs have cheerleading squads that actually “compete” the way UH’s cheerleaders do.

  72. Garret September 30, 2011 11:15 am

    Kevin,

For the high achievers, Academic scholarships can actually pay far more than what Athletic scholarships are restricted to. Scholarships like the Scholarship that Jason got from UH or that I got from Texas are not restricted in what they can offer. Many Universities actually give far more of those high-dollar academic scholarships than they give athletic scholarships.

If you want an example of what big-budget schools will do if there were no restrictions, I was planning on going to CalTech on an almost-full scholarship out of high school when Texas offered me *3* academic scholarships that I could take simultaneously. For a middle-class family, turning that down was impossible.

Graduate school in Engineering is interesting because research grants and projects result in many graduate students actually making a lot of money for their school. Texas gave out hundreds of 4-year PhD Fellowships that covered tuition, health care, and a big enough stipend that I qualified for a loan to buy a condo right next to the Engineering building. Schools aren’t restricted in what they can give for Academic Scholarships, just Athletic Scholarships.

In my opinion, *all* Athletic Scholarships need to be for the same amount because all athletes are representing their school and sacrificing for their sport. From talking with student-athletes at 4 schools (including UH) and advising non-athletes at 3 schools, the athletic scholarships do not cover everything that academic scholarships cover. And that is a shame because student-athletes are NOT allowed to work while non-athletes are.

  73. Garret September 30, 2011 11:17 am

Makes sense, not all FBS programs have cheerleading squads that actually “compete” the way UH’s cheerleaders do.

I agree. If cheerleading squads did count, that would make schools have much bigger cheerleading squads which would be nice…but would result in 1-2 women’s sports teams getting cut.

  74. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 30, 2011 11:21 am

    #72,

Not to mention if someone wanted to buy you or Jason a steak and lobster dinner, it wouldn’t be against the rules, make breaking news on ESPN, and be subject to ridicule by the public.

If someone wants to buy an athlete a steak dinner, let ’em. That’s how I feel anyway.

  75. kawika49 September 30, 2011 11:25 am

  79. Kevin September 30, 2011 11:27 am

    Kawika,

Well, a fan/booster can provide a home-cooked meal in their home to a student-athlete, but not at an establishment, not even ONCE.

Key is your personal residence is ok, but as you said twice a semester is ok.

Why has to be your home??? Answer was never clear.

  80. letsgowarriors September 30, 2011 11:30 am

i know that. hes a DB though, weve had success w JC DBs coming in and playing ASAP.

but seems it takes our JC WRs time to learn the system.

  81. Garret September 30, 2011 11:31 am

    iwonderwhytheyhateme,

I actually was flown to Texas on a recruiting trip when they were trying to get certain students to take their PhD fellowships. That took me to awesome restaurants (Pappadeaux, County Line, plus an awesome steak/lobster restaurant, etc.) and showed me around the city and campus. The recruiting trip was 3 days long. Three days of just amazing restaurants…

I volunteered to be a student host during my 4 years as a PhD student at Texas because that let me pick the restaurants I wanted to go to. I’d charge everything to my credit card (earning rewards) and get reimbursed. Student hosts that are athletes cannot get that type of deal–I knew the Texas women’s soccer coach and I learned all about their restrictions. I really miss being a student recruiter and looked forward to recruiting season every year. I loved explaining to the prospective grad students that we could order soft drinks (no alcohol), appetizers, any entree on the menu, and desserts and still not hit the money cap that I had been given.

Little trivia: Graduate Fellowships actually have a signing day, where if you accept a fellowship on a certain date then *no* other University will give you a Fellowship if you change your mind. That helps prevent schools from poaching other school’s graduate students and makes everyone who signs stick to their school.

Miano wasn’t comparing WR’s; he was talking about matching up with DB’s

  85. tom mui September 30, 2011 11:34 am

From another viewpoint, whether it is golf, diving, tennis or what have you, all of these sports do give credit or publicity to the school. For those that may have some sort of obsession with, say tennis, but couldn’t care a fig about football/basketball etc, may develop some sort of vicarious tie-in with UH assuming the tennis team is any good.

  86. letsgowarriors September 30, 2011 11:36 am

i wasnt talking about matchups. i was just speaking that it is impressive that he can be a big time contributor to their offense in his 1st season as a JC xfer.

  87. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 30, 2011 11:37 am

    #83,

wonder if they have any real life Richie Rich lol.

  88. Kevin September 30, 2011 11:38 am

Speaking of cheerleading, a few wahine volleyball games ago, me and a friend sat in the lower bowl student section and sat behind five cheerleaders.

Someone from marketing came down the aisle looking for students to compete at the intermission contest after Set 2. Immediately two of them jumped up, but then one of them said out loud: “oh s***, I can’t!!!” The other asked why and she cited NCAA regulations.

No doubt these kids are “policing” themselves.

And then she proceeded to yell and cheer others on into taking their place. She was very LOUD. 😆 😆 😆

  89. d1shima September 30, 2011 11:38 am

    mctruck,

Hawaii has a xfer from that JC, too.

It was addressed at the Na Koa Lunch

  90. Bryson September 30, 2011 11:40 am

Most teams run and offense wuth the help of a playbook so it’s alot easier for a reciever to grasp, our offense is predicated on what the defense runs which makes it a bit more difficult to grasp for a incoming reciever….

  93. A-House September 30, 2011 11:44 am

    tom mui:

UH men’s tennis team were WAC champs for 3 consecutive years – 2008, 2009, 2010.

However, they did not fare well against the BCS schools.

I guess UH golf teams face the same stigma.

  94. kawika49 September 30, 2011 11:45 am

The more complex a system, the more opportunities for a breakdown. I hope, in time; that the coaches will allow for a little more wiggle room or simplification in the system.

BTW what kind of cuts did the UH Pres and BOR members take?

Greenwood – 10% cut. Board of Regents: zippodenada. They do not get paiid for their community service. However, they do have their plane fare paid for when they go to other islands for their meetings.

D1…Yep, saw that. When I went to DMHS the school had just over 800 students in 4 grade levels. Now there are 327 in 6 grade levels. Although I’m a little sad that it has to change, the financial reality of the situation required that change in policy….

  120. madeinhawaii September 30, 2011 1:34 pm

    WassupDoc,

Thanks.. 10%… so for Mack that would be 110K… so, for the record, at least he offered to take a cut greater than that, that was subsequently was rejected… 700K would put him at the lower end of the MWC Coaching salaries.. possibly below the others when cost of living is factored in.

  121. papajoe2 September 30, 2011 1:41 pm

363 Ravens add Rodney Bradley to the practice squad. Congrats to Rodney.

They took the land. They took the aloha.

Over took the Queen, even though they didn’t know her.

Suppressed i’kaika and the kupuna, broke the ohana.

But they couldn’t take the MANA (Sliva).

  122. madeinhawaii September 30, 2011 1:45 pm

I thought Mana was re-signed to the Raven’s practice squad at the end of last month, as well?

  123. papajoe2 September 30, 2011 1:47 pm

#122 mih, I think that Mack wanted the savings that he was offering, to go to his assistants’ salaries. I say go for it. Win all they way around. This drama will put off coach Mack, his assistants, and recruits. Is that why June left? Requests falling on deaf ears or too much hassle to get things? Come on! Get it over with and move on to progress. Like I said in an earlier post, his graduation rate is great, which to me is very important.

  124. papajoe2 September 30, 2011 1:49 pm

#124 mih, i don’t know for sure, but I saw pictures of Mana at home in Hilo.

  125. papajoe2 September 30, 2011 1:55 pm

mih, sorry, after rereading my #125, I think it might come across like I’m saying that you don’t want Coach Mack and don’t care if they sign him or not. No, please don’t think that way as that was not my intent. I’m kind of directing it the people that need to get him signed and not dilly dally as they usually do.

  126. Stephen Tsai September 30, 2011 1:58 pm

Just to be clear on something – ALL faculty and ALL researchers in the University of Hawai`i System have taken 10% pay cuts. Will do some investigation week after next to see how much that counts.

With respect to complaints about policies and procedures at Aloha Stadium, PLEASE WRITE YOUR CONCERNS DOWN ON REAL PAPER AND SUBMIT THEM TO THE AUTHORITY – do not post them here because they will not be considered at a meeting. You can also submit them via e-mail, but I assure you that (real) letters are really paid attention to. Be sure to supply complete contact information including day, evening & cell phone numbers.

The mailing address is Kevin Chong Kee, Chair, Aloha Stadium Authority, PO Box 30666, Honolulu, HI 96820. The e-mail address is alohastadium@hawaii.gov attn: Scott Chan

The next meeting of the Authority is on Thursday, October 27. The November meeting will be on Thursday, November 17 because the last Thursday is Thanksgiving. Submit your letters at least ten days prior to the meeting so that the issues can be placed on the agenda if necessary. You may be asked to attend the meeting and to speak directly to the Authority or to take part by phone.

Saw Ferd Lewis on the other side of the room at yesterday’s meeting. I didn’t recognize him for the first half an hour. I think he and I were the only two people in the room not on staff or making presentations or another state agency.

    Back to work.

Dont let it linger if your not gonna sign coach mac! Consistent Losses every season since 2007 is a key factor to look at an not just blow outs but for the most part Coach Mac has done a fairly well job an besides his Rant about ND he’s represented UH well! An It’d be smart to re-hire him for the time being because itd be stepping backwards to not re-hire him 1. Recruits might leave 2. New system to learn

Coaches can only control win’s or losses an Coach Mac has had a pretty good record! If we were to go by Attendance it could be misleading because of how much everything cost! People dont wanna see UC DAvis an to be honest in this day an age people are gonna want to go to Aloha Stadium based on who we play look at the Navy game in 09 a good team, an we were on a winning streak! Hawaii needs to play more “Eye Candy” name teams an keep winning nothing wrong with having a few FCS schools an a few low tierd teams but unless their is hype an I mean NATIONAL hype for UH expect 30,000. It’s sad that people arent as hyped for UH sports as before it’d be good if our stadium was rocking like it was for the 07 season or like how it was back in the day were it was ALWAYS CLOSE to sell outs NO MATTER WHO THEY WERE PLAYING!!

But Everyone Keep Bleeding Green Cuz I know I am!!

    A good afternoon to all!

  146. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 30, 2011 3:46 pm

    #142,

One of the many explanations could be the overabundance of things to do nowadays in Honolulu as opposed to 20+ years ago. Also the amount of disposable income isn’t as high as in some places.

Donovan used UNC as an example. Why do people support them so vigorously with $10,000/year seat contributions etc etc. Reason being there isn’t much else to do in Chapel Hill aside from basketball and waiting for tomorrow. You have a lot of disposable income to throw at the only thing in town.

UH is the “only ticket in town” but it is far from the only thing to do. As our metropolitan area continues to grow and develop there will be more things to spend money on.

  147. wafan September 30, 2011 3:46 pm

    Aloha, Gary.

You will have one of the best seats at every UH game.

    #146,

But see that actually has salad ingredients so it counts!

Not to toot my own tooter or anything but I am a pretty good cook. That being said, my egg “Salad” always tastes bland.

But I digress…is it Saturday yet?

  151. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 30, 2011 3:52 pm

Ok just one more thing regarding fake salads.

So sometimes they have salads on the menu with an option to top it with Tuna or Chicken salad.

However I have never seen it called Tuna Salad-Salad.

Who did BYU get blown out by recently?

Anyway… BYU takin USU lightly. Garans.

Call me cocky about USU but I was singing the same song when people got all habut about us playing then #18 Nevada at Aloha Stadium last year.

I kept saying Nevada and Kaepernick are a different team at sea level and we’ve had their # and that Nevada, ranked or not is STILL the SAME vunerable Nevada team we’ve beaten at home.

So… I’ll sing the same song THIS year again about USU. Said it at the Colorado tailgate when people started getting their undergarments wet and nervous.. so…

    Here we go again.

I’ll throw out my confidence that we will beat Utah State at home if we get destroyed tomorrow afternoon both mentally and the potential for new injuries are key factors of course, bye week or not.

Turning point in the season is tomorrow. We get destroyed, oh boy… We keep pace and lose close, not too bad, we win… be prepared for a NEW team the rest of the way.

SteveM made a statement on my behalf on the blog. There was a discussion that followed. It’s being taken care of by me with the stadium authorities. If you must know, Scott Chan is not the person who is assigned to help clear things. His able assistant, Lois is doing a fine job.

    Ballpicker:

The Salt Lick is also the name of a very famous restaurant in Texas where the exterior walls are made from “salt”. House specialty is steak.

It is customary for customers to “lick the wall” – yuks!!!!!! actually saw people doing this during a Food channel show.

There was a Salt Lick at Redrock Hotel in Summerlin, but that closed about a year ago – food was OK, but service terrible.

  193. A-House September 30, 2011 7:21 pm

and the Damien walls come tumbling down as they admit females in 2012 – if had them when Koakane and J(J) were students, they would still be in school – j/K

    Thanks A-House,

I met the bartender in front of the Salt Lick restaurant in Summerlin but at the santa fe. Nic enough fella who asked why I moved from Hawaii to Vegas. And I said …..the food!

iwwthm – Salad does not literally mean veggies in the ingredients of the salad. All good cooks should know that. 😉

Salad could be an ingredient with a dressing. For example chopped boiled eggs and mayo…tuna and mayo…macaroni, stuff, and mjayo…

  201. homey ℞ September 30, 2011 8:30 pm

What the heck is mjayo? Mayo, Mayo!

There are tons of good tv shows to choose from to say it’s the best. No matter what is said though, there is no doubt that this show ranks in the top 10 of all of them. Yes, there are shows that are a bit newer but this one still has charm. There is comedy, love, and a little darkness, easily moving it up to the top. They just don’t make them like this anymore.

    A-House,

    Perish the thought..

” if had them (female students at Damien) when Koakane and J(J) were students”….

Auwe! If dat was da case, half the kids going there today would have Koakane’s last name.. the other half would have J(J)’s.

Phew… dey was sooo smart back den. so smart…

    akamai dat..

    hoo…

  209. iwonderwhytheyhateme September 30, 2011 9:57 pm

    homey,

that would do nothing. a tomato is considered a vegetable when it comes to culinary terms but a fruit biologically.

tuna salad is no salad. neither is egg salad.

the supreme court needs to rule on this one too…we cannot let things like this fester. it is bringing down society as we speak. lol

    Morning everyone!

    Game day, Baby!!!

First off, gratz to Wahine Soccer for a super win against the defending conference champs!

Ok, Warriors, today is YOUR day!

Score early, score often… offense, defense, special teams… your choice.

Offense needs to move the chains. Defense needs some stops to get the offense back on the field. No worry about da crowd. This is your game. Keep your head in it. Own it. No matter what happens, block the crowd out and execute every play. Leave it all out on the field.

Good luck, Warriors! It’s all you. We’ll be here yelling and cheering like crazy!

Breakfast time, and I’m already thinking about that mac salad in the fridge… Thanks a lot, guys!

My partner and i read your post and also found significant knowledge. Tibidabo is a mountain overlooking Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. At 512 meters it’s the tallest mountain in the actual Serra de Collserola. Rising sharply to the north-west, it affords spectacular views within the city and the encompassing coastline. There is an enjoyment park, a telecommunications tower (Torre de Collserola), and a Catholic religious organization, the Temple de Sagrat Cor, at the top, all of which are visible from the majority of the city. Designed by Enric Sagnier, the church took 60 years to construct and is topped by way of a sculpture of the Holy Heart by Josep Miret Llopart. The Amusement park will be the oldest in Barcelona and retains almost all of the original rides, some of which date for the turn of the the twentieth century. Like to talk about info about travel.

Nike soccer cleatsAnother unique feature of the New nike soccer shoes is the clean boot surface, which has just one seam tucked away at the heel of the Nike mercurial soccer cleats, so the upper is not interrupted with excessive or unnecessary stitching. And the upper material is made from Nike Mercurial Superfly unique Teijin synthetic – a thin, lightweight and durable material that offers great touch and feel for the ball, and has existed in the Vapor series since the Vapor III Mercurial Vapor Superfly.

The innovation continues with the Mercurial Vapors‘s responsive carbon fibre sole-plate. Featuring injected TPU studs configured for speed, and hollowed out so Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly are more lightweight and stronger due to the rounded structure Nike Football Cleats.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  408. retirement gifts for nurses October 6, 2011 8:30 am

I feel that nursing will become a career field of ever increasing specialties. As technology gets more sophisticated, Nurses will have to become more specialized and educated to meet the specific needs of patients. An aging population I feel will lend itself to RNs becoming more care directors than care givers.
