Sugar tax, coaches in lava lava, Little Matt in pros
Word on the street is UH will mail out Form 1099 to members of the Sugar Bowl party who did not have a work-related role for the event.
If a non-essential travel member received more than $600 in wages in kind — the value of air travel, hotel and per diem — he would have to pay personal and social-security taxes on the amount.
Such a policy already is in place at UH. For instance, employees are given a Form 1099 if they receive season tickets valued at more than $600.

On the other side, the goodwill travel party of the UH and SMU coaching staffs to American Samoa has arrived safely. These photos are courtesy of Kevin Kaplan of the June Jones Foundation:

UH is going green. The football media guides, which will be circulated July 21, will be made of recycled paper.
Here’s sports media relations director Derek Inouchi holding the media guide proof:

On Aug. 18, UH will launch its newly improved sports Web site, which will feature videos. Inouchi already has hired Jay Metzger as videographer/photographer to serve as UH’s version of Princess Leila.
Check out Jay’s great work at his Web site: http://www.metzphotography.com/

Wow
Hey, 1st! I knew there was something good about getting home this late. I hope the new UH site will have streaming video of games. I’m in the kua’aina on the big island and I only get Fox and Public Television on my antenae.
Hope the new site has some history to it!!!
Derek is a really cool guy 🙂
Dang, I typed too slow for 1st
I think it would be nice if the new UH site would have a page for each year of UH sports going back as far as they can.
Lono:
There’s actually a service owned by the Wang family (owners of the New York Islanders) that works like TiVo. The difference is it records all of the local shows (and sporting events), allowing folks from the Mainland to keep up with UH football and the Bruddahs and Augie T. etc.
Pomai:
I don’t think they’ll do that. But they’re going to put a lot of things on disc, such as the records, so you might be able to download past stats.
How about putting all of the old media guides on the new site?
If we have any readers in Utah, they can meet me at the WAC Media Preview, July 22-24, at the Salt Lake City Airport Hilton. I can give you the new UH media guides there.
Somebody wake up the webmaster and tell him their front page stay broken.
Pomai:
I’ll pass on your suggestion to Derek.
ralph’s still harassing me on the old post.
It’s Saturday morning. Management doesn’t work weekends.
rausch looks rather mature.
how about a media guide for door prize????
Re: Media guide.
We’d give one as a prize once we finish building the time machine. Media guide is released July 21, party is July 10.
stephen,
would also love to see the other sports’ media guides, like for basketball etc. or maybe at least old rosters, schedules and results for past teams.
thanks!
oh, and indy was a good movie. i think the rest are still partying out there. i had to go home and sleep to wake up early to get ready to pack.
btw….
superman can fly
batman drives a car.
superman has a place on the north pole
batman hides in the dark.

Clark Kent doesn’t date.
Bruce Wayne is a millionaire playboy.
I mean, the best thing about Superman is he’s a reporter.
yah, and clark’s boss doesn’t attend bashes either.
neither batman or superman eat as much as Al
i don’t date (not by choice)

Al:
LOL. That’s a good one.
any feelers out there for rgm?

Chawan:
You need to stop being so shy. Just go for it. I mean, you did wait too long for Ms. Lee.
ralph….i think mr. gigi got me beat in that dept.
chawan….so what’s your point?
st….tks, once in awhile i can come up with a good one.
i thought it was ms. wai?
chawan, listen to st your mentor. no shame ask, worst case scenario is a “no” which puts you right back to where you started anyway. okay, depending upon how you ask you could get a slap, but, the one yes could be worth it.
Peter Parker is a news guy. Photographer anyway.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
al,
i don’t know what my point is. its past my bedtime and i’m just jib jabbering away.
what was yoda’s saying?? do or do not. there is no try.
Used to buy all the Superman comics. They were only a dime in my small boy days. All of Superman/boy’s girlfriends were L.L.s: Lana Lang, Lois Lane, Lori Lemis. Forget the rest.
Stephen,
That Wang family is Charles Wang owner of Computer Associates, Inc (CA. Inc).
His daughter Kimberly used to live next to my friend in Waimanalo, when she used to own the Hawaii Islander Arena Football team.
I heard she gets pretty upset if folks pronounce her name Wang (like rhymes with Chang)…. It’s pronounced Wong. Another thing that upsets her is if folks ask if they owned Wang Computers.
I figure I would give you and your Tsaiko’s a heads up… Don’t want you getting stink eye and then the “Speak to the Hand” and the “Don’t you know who I am?”, if you ever run into her 🙂
bigwave,
welcome back to today and not tomorrow.
Thanks, Big Wave.
I wanted to join the earlier discussions about the stadium but didn’t have the time. Gotta think out of the box. Stadium, convention center, shopping center, hotel, restaurants, major rail station where Ala Wai Golf course is. Golf course in Diamondhead crater. Housing and shopping complex in Halawa. Get world class developer to put up projects (Donald Trump, Steve Wynn). Chris Hemmeter would have been a good fit if he were still around. Get Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, or Jack Nicholas to design a unique golf course sitting in the crater. Japanese toursits would love to come to Hawaii for a chance to play on that course. Get Dan Inouye, Dan Akaka, Barack Obama (if he gets to be president) to get all the land ownership thing in order. Rail between stadium and UH gets all the students to the games. Rail passes through Waikiki on the way to downtown. Bridges over the Ala Wai makes the complex accessible to all the tourists. Put a roof on the stadium/convention center so can use for auto shows, new product shows, etc. Make plenty parking that can be used for Waikiki also. Okay, so it would probably cost a billion dollars, but who knows, a big time developer may see the potential.
Time to go to sleep before I really get carried away.
Once all the golf course is done, have the Honolulu Marathon add a leg that takes it into the crater and around the golf course.
The roads around the Ala Wai would have to be improved to handle the traffic, but hopefully, the rail and buses would help alleviate the traffic situation.
With the success of the current Donald Trump project in Waikiki, you would think some developer would see the potential of a shopping complex, hotels, or condominiums in that area.
I believe something would have to be done in Halawa to allow the City, State, or private developer to build housing there, but it shouldn’t be impossible to overcome.
Chawan,
I’m still on GST….
Also I don’t know who owns the land in the crater and it may be designated as conservation land, but it shouldn’t be impossible for our political leaders to get that changed.
I know the golfers who frequent the Ala Wai course would be up in arms when you say you will be building a stadium there, but I think you can convince them to go along if you tell them that they can continue to play with the same access and rates on a world class course in Diamondhead.
Okay, I’m really out of here.
hey chawan, not only are you famous, but you are notorious!!
I saw some of your New Orleans pics on sportshawaii and then later I saw you at the Sugar Mill party.
Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.

Good morning Tsaiko’s,
Hmmmm?, I’m reading in my Dallas Morning News-sports page section that a local Texas high school lineman from DeSoto HS, orally committed to SMU. He turned down offers from, Notre Dame, Arizona, Huston, Oklahoma State and Tulsa.
He will play either on the O-line or D-line….was primarily the left tackle this year and lhas played every position on the O-line the previous three years. His name is Chris Atchinson. Just a bit of information to break the lull.
good morning myki1, bhf2, and the rest of the tsaikos. woke up cause heard noise outside the house. shined light and there are deers in the backyard.
Mornin’, mornin’, mornin’!!!
All day hula class, gotta hele. Catch up laterz.
What/Who is Emo? Alexander looks like an impressive QB in size. Glad to hear Gibson is playing in a pro league. Green is good; thanks Derek. I agree with Pomai; I’d like to have historical records/rosters available. Even we at NAU don’t do that.
Hasta!
Oooops!!!, make that Houston.
SMU and UNT just signed a four-game contract to renew their football series begining in 2014. (local rivalry-thing).
my spaceship was set on auto pilot to return from the darkside, but it malfunctioned, so was lost in space. finally made it home to catch up with the blog. we got some impressive players at the qb position this year.
too bad about coach tengan. i not sure, but his family may be from maui. will check around.
Good Morning to the Tsaiko vIllage. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Spokane Hoopfest starts today. It’s the worlds largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament in the world. Over 6,500 teams take over downtown Spokane for the next 2 days.
I’m guessing at least 75% of the streets in downtown Spokane have been blocked off to make room for the 300+ courts. It’s also gonna be one of the hottest ever. 95 today and 98 tomorrow. That’s why I’m spending my weekend at my friends house sitting by the pool and bbq’ing all day long.
Maui recruit attended Oregon State’s camp and bonding with Coach Cav. If UH is after Rosa I hope they have already started building their relationship with him! It sounds like UH is late in recruiting another neighbor island player…
Lots of talent in Maui!
Another article about the kidney donation to Coach Cav’s wife. I wish Coach Cav and his wife well so I like to read these. CR even got a mention in the article.
Article about Oregon State’s camp.
Fox Sports analyzed the options for the Pac-10 when they decide to expand. The article also mentions how Texas and Texas A&M (or maybe I should say the Texas government) turned down the Pac-10 last time and will do so again if the Pac-10 asks them.
Article about the TV coverage for the UH-OSU game.
Chad Owen’s team sure has some bad luck with injuries to WRs!

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (AP) — Southern Methodist University coach June Jones opened a free two-day football clinic today in American Samoa for high school players and coaches.
Jones was joined by Hawaii coach Greg McMackin and several current and former NFL players of Samoan descent including Jesse Sapolu, Ma’a Tanuvasa, Mel Purcell, Reagan Mauia, Paul Soliai and Leo Goeas.
The inaugural June Jones American Samoa Football Academy is being held at Veterans Memorial Stadium and will involve more than 500 athletes and 100 coaches.
Five $2,000 college scholarships that can be used at any U.S. college were to be awarded at the clinic. The recipients will be chosen based on recommendations and criteria established by the American Samoa Department of Education.

Garret’s post at 5:52 am. is a good one. (and to new reader remember to *click* his name to be directed to the web site referring to the original article).
In the Maui News article the writer alludes to the fact that Maui might potentially have 10 division 1 prospects. A couple of points here that I want to comment on. Taking a direct quote from the Baldwin athlete everyone is talking about, Mana Rosa, he mentioned that a few schools have offered scholarships. But as of May his words are that Hawaii “is waiting to see how he does”.
The urgency and rush to secure commitments must be lost on Hawaii. In his words, Mana describes how he wishes to verbally commit before the season. But as of now only has two offers, and a list of Pac-10 schools taking notice.
Looking at what the Boise has done with securing verbal commitments with six 3 star athletes already should send the message to Hawaii that, regretfully, please don’t wait til the end of the season to make their moves. By then most of the athletes may have offers that entice them to go elsewhere.
When the national writer, Tom Lemming, comes out with his August 1st article accentuating and highlighting all the talent in the island, especially the likes of the Punahou player, Manti Teo. And the Maui athletes, with Mana Rosa topping that list expect more schools to jump on the recruiting frenzy in the islands. For Hawaii, I’m hoping it’s not too late.
The Maui article is a good one. And the one quote that that writer makes tells how the athletes are getting noticed by having their chances at showcasing their abilities at the camps. For Mana Rosa he was supposed to participate in a upcoming Oahu camp. But having breaking his arn in three places after his arm was stepped on by an offensive linemen in his last camp will keep him sidelined until the season.
For Hawaii we don’t expect them to get all the homegrown talent. And the top blue chippers, like Teo, may be long shots. But the athletes within their grasps they should catch before they get wooed away from other schools.
Great Morning All.
Still not a bad deal for those who decided not to panic and fork over the $$$ for the SB trip. I wouldn’t have blinked at the chance to go for the cost of taxes and SS.
Thanks for the Little Matt update; hope they do well in the play-offs.
Maverick,
I was noticing that gait as well. Doesn’t seem to indicate a “compact throwing motion”, does it?
Maybe Jason can offer a more thorough analysis.
10am HST kick-off for OSU game; well another Breakfast widda Bows. 🙂
Have a great weekend er’yboddy!
How nice to see my boss on your blog. And boy is it nice to see “sustainable media guides.” 🙂
Alojahz this Saturday morning
marlis, I believe Coach Mack and them are trying to do the best they can with the local recruiting efforts, but then again it may not be enough. To me it’s a shame and a let down when local recruits are openly taking shots at UH and there recruiting efforts. They start to get the mentality that oh well they must not want me to go there so I’m outties, and boom there they go. Yeah, in reality it may be long shots to get most of the top names but why not just offer, what’s the worse they going to say, NO? Just like when you see one pretty looking wahine you spocking out but no like go over and talk, what happens, lose out and she end up with somebody else. Maybe I’m just on the outside looking in and thinking okay well maybe they are going after players at certain positions, but my thought’s as far as recruiting would go like this…
Try to get the best local high school prospects regardless of position, most times they are talented enough to play multiple positions anyway (ex.Kealoha Pilares RB/WR). So what if you end up having say 3 top LB’s or OL/DL guys, etc… That would be the future foundation to build on. Can fill in the holes where needed but that’s where JC guys come in to play. I don’t know, in my eyes I would always try to go after the best available talent at all times regardless if I needed them or not. Then adjust based on there talents.
No, no, Kelli. Curtis is going to be your boss. If I had a say, and, of course, you see at work how I don’t, we’re not going to let you go back to UH.
UH has made offers to 18 recruits,11 from the islands. That’s the best it can do right now. First, this isn’t a very big senior class (in terms of scholarship players), so there might not be that many slots. Second, there are a few grayshirts. Third, with the APR, UH won’t know until January if there will be scholarship cuts. If there are 50 Division I players, then based on simple math, some are going to get their feelings hurt.
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
BLOG PARTY ALERT – We have reached our max. If you have not already sent in your email to RSVP, all future requests will be put on a “waiting list”. In the event that someone can’t make it, I go down the waiting list as received and inform people of the opening.
re-The August 18th launch of the new and improved official UH athletic web site
Whatever they do I hope the new site realizes the notion that potential athletes, recruits and potential students to the school often open the door and look what’s inside. And they can be either be captured or released from being interested from the school. And maybe the program. As much as the school spends on landscaping and maintaining a campus that makes the school inviting and welcoming, the same foresight should be put into improving on the web old sight in making the new sight attractive and appealing to the athlete, students and even the fan.
The focal point of the new web site should extract a warmth and strike a cord with the athlete, students, fans and visitor. Visually pictures of teams can do this. And daily stories and stats do, too. But what’s behind the heart and soul of the program should have a special tab where we hear the voices relaying this attractiveness to the school. The nurturing effect, so to speak, I believe will work in delivering this now missing warmth. The mission statement of the school, including letters from the President, Chancellor, athletic director, coaches. And one step further prestigious alumni and leaders of the State of Hawaii, including Governor and Senators and Representatives should be honored and at the same time promote athletics at the UH and the state in relaying statements for the visitor to embrace upon. A special tab for the professional athletes in all programs with updates can have a nurturing effect.
As it stands now the focal point of the old site’s home page is buy, sell and trade tickets. When I open the homepage this is what I see. And this isn’t good. Peddling the tickets I see is purposeful for the UH but it turns me off if this is the first thing I see when I open the UH web site. I don’t want to see ticket selling. Instead the selling that’s important is the program. And the State. Something indigenous to Hawaii and UH athletics should be the first thing the visitor sees. Not buy, sell and trade.
For the UH the resources are there to improve upon. Leaving a good impression on the visitor…and who knows maybe the next big recruit to the program can happen if you impress upon them something thats impressive. I think having your leaders of the school, state and distinguish alumni writing a few words would leave an impression on the visitor.
Visually having a picture of the campus, foreground, and having Diamond Head and the ocean in the background would be a good selling point. But the biggest selling point are the island’s leaders and UH alumni and if they can say a few words it would make for an impressive web site.
And not to be forgotten I think a special tab identifying the hard work that the band members and cheer leading squads of what they do for the program should find a new place on the new web site.
Combining the union of what goes behind the program, a few words from distinguish alumni, and the daily press releases from the athletic office balanced with whats happening today and the lore of the past would have a very good nurturing effect on the visitor. And this is very important for the new athletic web site to potentially accomplish.
Mav,
I noticed Alexander’s grip on the ball as well. At first glance I thought he had no fingers on the laces like how this one QB (can’t remember the school) holds his ball right at the end with no fingers at all on the laces, but upon further inspection the guy has a big grip.
Still at 230 lbs, he must have some “ooomph” behind some of those bombs. However I still think Graunke has the strongest arm for those long post-type passes.
there are good and bad to recruiting high school seniors and hawaii is no exception. UH’s big problem with recruiting is that they only concentrate it on Oahu and have no outside kids. These kids from the outer island can play equally or better than the Oahu kids today, but unfortunately even with the Lee brothers and promises from Coach Mac, it will not happen. because recruiting is limited to Oahu, how can you get the outside island people to support you financially, attend games, become giving alumnis, etc. this problem with UH is not just football. look at where the best hs baseball players come from and it ain’t oahu. the only coach who made an effort to expose UH to the people of Maui was RW. He brought other UH sport coaches, media people, and friends each year to Maui when he was the coach. right now, you have bhf2 who lives on the big island, LizK on Kauai, Rich on the mainland, doing and giving a lot of aloha to the fb program, but how many more bhf2s’,LizKs’, Richs’ is UH missing?
st, no such thing as “the best it can do right now”. you may not have many scholarships to offer, but that shouldn’t stop you from contacting and building a relationship with the prospect and his school. if UH athletics use a similar format as this blog, they would be able to build a solid financial and athletic foundation. my senseis’ all basically said the same thing, “treat other people as you would like to be treated”.
Good Morning Tsaiko Village People!
Shout out to JaM! Lei making class not necessary on 7/2 at Genji. The management & staff were nervous that mebbe the session might turn their club into a Lei Stand.
Da Mrs got ‘er done with help pouring in from all over the globe and up da street!
Mahalo to you, Brie and the hundreds of other Tsaikettes who offered their help. Volunteerism rates for Tsaiko’s remain at an all-time high! ‘Tizer management should take notice that the statement BG made is so very, very true.
As he sed, “Lead, Follow, or get out of a Tsaiko’s Way!”
woo hoo, 120, Stretch? Wow!
Leaving for Kauai in 1/2 hour. Stretch’s hunting ground…
Will be back Monday afternoon.
Hope it doesn’t rain during Liz’s golf tournament and BBQ on Sunday.
ST, all those photos of the QBs. They all have huge biceps, but do they have zip in their passes? Hey, I have biceps too!
just fooling around til 9:30 when we call 422-2222 ala de Lima.
if the Samoa pictures bust your screen, blame Kevin Kaplan. He sent them. Meanwhile, you may admire my new photo-cropping skills.
Gigi:
They’re Division I-A quarterbacks. Of course, they have zip on their passes. Being a successful QB isn’t about “zip” on the passes. It’s about reading defenses and going through progressions and poise under pressure.
Samoans and Scots have da kilt/skirt in common, wonder why.
wahoo and au’ryte good to hear anniversary has reach it’s peak.
congrats to all the tsaiko’s out there well done and we still two weeks away.
you will not be sorry da committee has put mucho effort into making this a memorable event.
e kala mai good morning everyone
Weeks ago, a blogger mentioned he watched Alexander throw the ball as if in baseball — straight. Is that good or bad? Shouidn’t the ball be thrown in a curve?
wow thats gotta be the only time ive seen Brent wearing a shirt.
Gigi:
I liken it to writing. (OK, OK, on a very small comparative scale.) For instance, we have a relatively new full-time reporter in our feature section. Very good writer, not so good at producing stories on deadline and meeting the workload. Reps help, of course, but there’s a skill to writing on deadline and overcoming “stage fright” and competing under pressure. It’s one of those things you just never know from a glossy resume.
That’s why you should be praised, Gigi. It’s not easy to write a book, even a memoir. It’s difficult to create from a blank screen or paper.
MeiLing,
“Emo” usually describes a “look” or fashion trend caused by… (*sighs*) my generation…
Originally “Emo” was short do describe “emotional punk rock” music back in the 80s and like all music the fashion trend follows afterwards.
Wikipedia describes it (pretty accurate from what I’ve personally seen):
Term “emo” is sometimes stereotyped with tight jeans on males and females alike, long fringe (bangs) brushed to one side of the face or over one or both eyes, dyed black straight hair, tight t-shirts (sometimes short sleeved) which often bear the names of emo bands (or other designer shirts), studded belts, belt buckles, canvas sneakers or skate shoes or other black shoes (often old and beaten up) and thick, black horn-rimmed glasses.
Yeah, not for me…. 🙄
Gigi:
I think for some throws, it’s better to have an arc.
This year, fans will truly appreciate Colt Brennan. There’s a screen pass that Brennan made look easy, when, in fact, it is a very difficult. The slotback runs to the flat, away from the quarterback. Brennan had to loft the pass to a target moving away. The angle hinders depth perception. Brennan completed all but three of those passes in three years. That’s touch.
morning gang!
Stephen – congrats to you and the da rest of the planning tsaikos for the sellout, who’da thought the community you created would comes this far (with no end in sight) and set the standard for all blogs
have a safe and happy weekend!
She works at Hot Topic
His heart microscopic
She thinks that its love but to him its sex
He listens to emo but Fat Mike’s his hero
His bank account’s zero
What comes next?
Same song different chorus
[Chorus:]
It’s stupid, contagious
To be broke and famous
Can someone please save us from punk rock 101
My Dickies, your sweat bands
My spiked hair, your new Vans
Let’s throw up our rock hands for punk rock 101
RE: UH recruiting outer islands.
Didn’t ST mention that Coaches Aranda, Gerke, Miano, and others just went to the outer islands to do some recruiting or at least some building of relationships for the near future?
OK, ST, and with that, I’m outta here.
gigi – good luck and no forget your golf balls
ST,
I’ve tried that same screen pass last night playing USC on “Heisman Level”… needless to say it cost me the game.
I think there will be two kinds of fans this season:
-Those that will appreciate what Colt Brennan and Co. brought to the table over the last three years.
and
-Those that DO NOT appreciate how unique Colt, Bess, RGM, J-Riv, and CJ were. These will be the boo-birds who will start singing every chance they get this year.
BTW, is Wes Suan in a lava lava or shorts? I no can tell.
Wow ST. I don’t even know what song that is. I could have sworn I saw it at Krazy Karaoke once tho…
Good luck to Little Matt. I wonder what it must be like to be an American in Venezuela, I suppose the people don’t necessarily reflect the attitude of their leader.
UH merchandise should now include Under Armour Lava Lavas or at least the ones with the UH logo the guys wore in New Orleans.
If I received your payment, thank you. You should have gotten a confirmation email from me. I will be checking the mail next Tuesday so if you already sent your payment but haven’t received an email from me, no worry.
In summer workouts, they QB’s are all throwing well and all have pretty good accuracy, but game and even practice and scrimmage conditions will be very different. That’s when you will spot the differences– some guys will make the plays and passes and others won’t and it won’t be about mechanics.
Right now, one thing that shows up a little– Graunke and Funaki are a lot better on their feet than the new guys. If ball handling, bootlegging, and dropping back from center are important in Ron Lee’s offense, these two guys are going to be a lot better, at least at the start.
Nevermind, I called FabricMart and they have UH print material there.
Now just gotta figure out how I’m going to access my wallet, keys, etc in my pants pocket without looking like I’m going to flash the crowd at the stadium.
ST
I’m with you on the copyright issues with Oldie’s stuff. I had to go through Herman and KHNL to get permission to tape UH sports and send them to units in Iraq and Afghanistan (just to be safe).
However, I don’t believe there would be any problem in “giving away” the set in exchange for the highest donation to Na Koa. Of course, once in possession of the set, there’s nothing to force the receiver to make that donation (an unthinkable scenario for a Tsaiko).
I would also highly recommend setting up a “donation pot” at the party for people who want to write a check to Na Koa/Anuenue (they can get the tax write off) and Tsaikos get credit for helping out UH. Win-win, huh? Who was it who said that $20 from 100 Tsaikos is $2K? Isn’t that almost enough for another JUGS machine? 😀
Manoa,
I thought I saw somewhere that the new guys are from spread offenses that operate under center more than the shotgun. I guess I read wrong or Graunke and Funaki have really stepped it up since the Spring.
BG,
You just gave me an 💡 !!!
ST
The point to my post above is that it would be good to maximize our fund raising capabilities. We’ve already had a small glimpse at what Tsaikos are capable of doing…iTouch for Brian, bracelets for SB, bhf2 and the JUGS. It can get better. I have no doubt that we can make things happen. Not on the same level as the big bucks folks, but, at the grassroots level…where people are touched in the hearts.
As long as we have Tsaikos like Rich, Pomai, BHF2…to name just a few who have stepped up and made things happen…I didn’t even mention Kekoa and his band who are bringing the party to life, or SteveM and co who make the CC’s and karaoke’s a smashing success…as long as we have them, we’ll continue to grow like Alama-Francis on his hawaiian steroids [[steps away from the podium and slowly walks back to the wine bottle]] 😉
I think recruiting is really slow this year for us. It seems like the guys that Hawaii has actually offered are guys that want to go to the mainland so I’m not sure how this will work out for us in the end. Hoping for the best though.
So…..ST, who was the UH athletic administrator who applied for the Chaminade University’s AD.
Current position – OK
Ahhh…the wine taste good! Wait! past 10 am, right? Don’t want to start being an alcoholic or sumting 😀
JaM – Great for Brie! You have a young lady who’s doing very well and you and hubby must be very proud. I think we saw what the “dark side” looks like a couple of months ago.
About Alexander – liking what we’ve seen of him already. But, I had a small concern when I saw ST’s pix. From the ball position, it looks like he has a “loop” in his delivery…takes the ball a bit longer to get out because it still has to get to the “up” position. Looking at Tyler’s ready position and Inoke’s “arm back” position, the ball stays above the shoulder. I realize we’re seeing just a snapshot and not the whole motion, and I’m not an expert of any sort much less on QB throwing motions. But, I have spent a lot of time looking at athletic motions (sprinting, hurdles, martial arts) for efficiency.
Wow. I needed that.
Went back to sleep after posting and just woke up. Gotta get back to my blog pix. U-boi and I had a really wild night last night!
More soon.
GO QBs!
GO WARRIORS!!!
ANOTHER NOTE TO ST
Well then, Oh Wise One…looks like your planning committee nailed it with the 120+ estimate. OUT-FREAKING-STANDING. Maxed it in 5 days. It’s just jaw-dropping the way this community continually exceeds expectations. Folks are coming from incredible distances to make this high energy scene that’ll be bursting with positive vibes 😀
Other notes: Next year, make it on Fri or Sat! Plan for 200.
I’ll bet our Georgia friends like Merv were sad with this news. UGA’s last football game was with UH.
Hey, what’s this? Bighilofan2 putting out a Karaoke Call…
Go for it! Call Gaye or Art and tell them you are a Tsai-ko and request the large PRIVATE room. 🙂
Hey, how come the coaches all have their shoes and slippers on inside the Fale ?
I’m all for fund-raising efforts, but probably not in the anniversary party setting. I think folks who forked over $20 probably don’t want to have to pay even more that night.
What we can do is get a list of things that need fixin’ — JUGs, nasty water fountains — and donate directly to those causes.
Here’s a starter: Because of cutbacks, the UH men’s volleyball team won’t be having any pre-match meals. Is it a worthy cause to feed athletes before events?
R.I.P. UGA
I don’t mind those Bulldogs as much as others… 😈
Sweet Chezzus ST,
No grinds for the Men’s Volleyball squad?
They had to cut it out for the coming season.
No mo’ money.
ST,
I think you mentioned a while back that the booster club membership for Men’s Volleyball tanked since the 2002 season.
Do you have an idea where it is at the end of the 2007 season?
Wow, Funaki looks RIPPED.
BTW, anybody watching the Arena Football game on ESPN notice that former Saint Louis QB Jason Gesser is the backup for the Utah Blaze?
Too bad Chad Owens got hurt, otherwise would have been able to see him blaze the blaze.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this.
FSN just had what looked like a replay of softball. Akron beat Washington 1-0. Kate Robinson started at 3B and was 0-3 but scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th.
aloha warriors! everyone looking GOOD! great pictures ST!!!
LizK or Calvin i need 2 tickets for Oregon State game! MAHALO!!
ALOHA EVERYONE!
MANEO !!!
Hello, Tsaiko Nation.
Looking at our QB’s it is like a very good mystery novel, who will be the one, who will be the one? Can’t wait for fall camp to see it all unfold.
Putting together the puzzle. UH Football has formally advertised for a Director of Player Personell…I nominate Delbert Tengan as a quality guy who would be just right for the job…and he is available….and knows many of the kids already.
I’ll be happy to donate to causes, but I’d prefer to donate to football (like a JUGs machine, etc.) causes if possible. Football is the revenue generating engine for the whole athletic department, so it hurts every program at UH if the football team is missing something important that would help them competitively.
Starting July 1 I’ll actually be able to get paid for my work, and I’ll be getting back pay from May, so I’ll be able to donate money again. It was hard to donate like I used to when I had no money coming in since September! We should be out of a little hole soon and then I can look to help some things out again.
ST
From my viewpoint…You Are The Leader. You make the decisions here. I do want to make sure that I’m conveying my message correctly. I am not advocating collecting additional funds from everyone. However, I would like to see an opportunity made available for those who are capable and do want to make additional donations to the teams. The only issue to date about our donations (for some of us) is that they haven’t been written out to a non-profit so that we can claim a write off. We can work around that by writing our checks out to someone like Na Koa but delivering them through the Tsaikos and earmarking them for specific items with specific instructions. (not my idea…I stole it from other bloggers) In the past, individual donations were made by everyday folks and it was like pouring it into a black hole. Now, we can make $10 or $20 donations and immediately see the collective effect that we have. Also, I KNOW I can walk the halls in the athletic building and mention that I am a Tsaiko and it will mean something to that person. On the other hand, giving my name will mean absolutely nothing. 🙁 We’ve learned so much about the collective effect that we have. I think individual direct contributions would be a step back.
BTW, pre-game meals for the men’s VB is a good cause. But, what about the other teams? Swimming, tennis, golf, soccer, track and field, etc. What are the teams’ responsibilities? The school’s? The booster clubs? Questions like these were asked by Tsaiko’s when we were rallying up for the bracelets. They were never answered.
I can safely say that this blog has grown new skills and developed muscle in ways that no one expected. Facts say that we are no longer just about Warriors football. Are we going to continue to expand our interests or redirect back to football? ST, I believe you’re where that decision is going to be made. Either you personally or you asking the community to decide, as you do from time to time. There’s never been anything like the Tsaikos before…there’s no template. It’s awesome and scary at the same time. Hmmm…time for a beer!
DISCLAIMER: This lengthy post does not try to represent the collective mindset of the group known as the Tsaikos. Furthermore….yada…yada…yada
Kazz:
Believe you are correct in saying that all the JC recruits came from a “spread offense” system.
How quickly the assimilate into Ron Lee’s system will make a heck of a difference for fall practice and make all positions challenging for all players as Coach Mack said everyone starts from scratch including the O-line.
Anyone know what Coach Brian Smith is or has done to get the O-line to jell during the “off-season” workouts? A whisper in an ear can open many doors.
ST:
Any word from Coach Mack on when UH will start the “football camps” for high school player?
Realize it may take some time as this is his first stint at Head Coach, but mental thoughts can be done at anytime, anywhere – even on plane ride to Samoa!!!! All one needs is pencil, paper, and vision!
Garret
It’s just great to hear that things are coming along for your family and company. BTW, your contributions here have already been enormous!
Colt will be back in town next week. He’ll be signing autographs at the Pictures Plus in Pearl City above Sams Club. (thanks to poidog for the scoops)
http://uhbelieve.com/signing.htm
oh, forgot to put the date and time (its in the link)
july 5th, sat, 3-6pm.
you gotta purchase presale tickets.
UH Sports Information Director:
I do not know Derek Inouchi at all.
I have always been critical of this position because what little has been done to “market” UH, individual student-athletes, etc. And, I may be completely off-base on this position, but can some one provide me examples of what was done to promote Colt’s Heisman bid or what is planned for Dan Kelley’s All-American canidancy as a kicker or other football players who are considered for major awards?.
Someone once said: “Tell me and I will forget”.
“Show me and I will remeber.”
“Involve me and I will understand.”
What has this got to do with the above, absolutely nothing!!!!!!!1
Garret- good news about your situation finally maturing!
Last year, life was a struggle. This year, life is a joy. It is amazing how superficial conditions (job, family, personal economics) may stay the same but the life experience changes because of a change of attitude.
Our religion teaches that there is a spiritual solution to the economic problem. No DUH!
I can see it every day in the Tsai-ko village. When people are united in love for humanity (in this case, our broad Warrior ohana), there is no end to the possibilities. Every person counts, every person makes a difference, and every effort made in the spirit of unconditional love releases transformational powers back to all concerned.
Tsai-kos spread the joy, spread the love, and anyone who wants to jump in is welcome. No can beat that!
OK… my blog is updated. Last night was really cool.
ohh- gotta eat somethin and then knock the rust off our golf clubs!
Latahs
There is a problem with making offers to those you have little chance with, because (a) we need to keep some offers available for other recruits, like the ones on the mainland, and (b) the recruits cannot commit until February of 2009 for the seniors. The problems happen when the recruits don’t say no– they say nothing whlle we wait (that happened with Fehoko), by the time they say no, it is too late to recruit someone to take their place and your choices are limited.
We are going to have to wait for these athletes to take their official visits to the mainland schools and for the mainland athletes to make official visits to their choices and Hawaii. This is where the long distance hurts and makes us have to wait even longer.
Garret:
Wonderful news of your company’s direction and success(s).
It’s a testiment to all your hard work, your ” boss’ ” surpervision, and your combined efforts.
BG,
Thank you for your kind words. It is amazing how slow the government review process is! And then how long it takes to get a contract done even after they decide they want to give the money to a company! And the rules by the government are that the Principal Investigator (me) has to be full-time with the company, so I couldn’t take another job to bring in money…plus, there was so much work to get done anyway since I need to be prepared for the 4 other contracts we are trying to get.
The funny thing is that a little over a week ago a big company tried to buy my company. They were very insistent and pretty generous. However, my company would be worth a lot more after we get our hardware prototype done, so I finally was able to delay that company until at least later this year. We hadn’t gotten any money in yet when that was going on, which made the offer even more appealing…but I know the money is coming since the contracts have been signed.
I do agree with your statement that we all will follow ST’s lead on the fundraising. And that there are a lot of other questions that need to be answered, such as the needs of the other sports. I’ll support the meals if that is what is deemed highest priority, I was just giving my preference…if my company gets bought then I won’t have to prioritize, but I’m just coming off a 9-month pay outage so I’m understandably careful with my money.
A-House,
The funny thing is that we just made Lori our CEO and Chairman of the Board. So, as of Monday I guess she will officially be my boss!
Manoa,
I agree about the problem of waiting until the end for recruits that do not commit. That really puts UH in a bad position, kind of like being a “fallback school” for some recruits that might be looking for Pac-10 offers. In the meantime, the mainland recruits are taking tons of visits and are giving their commitments since they get to talk with the coaches face-to-face and form bonds.
However, other schools give out WAY more offers than they have scholarships, so I wonder what the harm would be to give out more offers. For example, Alabama gives out zillions of offers, SMU has 9 commits and has something like 40 offers out, etc. Texas actually gave 2 top-rated DBs an offer that basically went like “the first of you to commit will get the scholarship” and they are sticking to their offer to the DB who committed first…the other guy will have to go to Oklahoma or Texas A&M.
There is that QB recruit who is posting his offer letters online from 20+ (mostly BCS) schools. Each offer includes a disclaimer that the offer can be pulled if they get other commitments first.
ST ~ Would it be possible (now that he’s out of the clutches of the NCAA rules)to officially acknowledge our returning NFL QB with a dinner, compliments of his Tsaiko Ohana?
Garret- all this time, I thought Lori WAS your BOSS 😆
ST- You lead, we follow.
Kekoa- here’s hoping for BREAKFAST with colt on July 6 😯 ❗
HIHO off to the driving range.
Garret ~ I am so happy to see you make headway with your contracts. As you know, our company is in the same situation with our proposals. We decided to try a two step approach to the problem. Basically we have launched this effort.
One – Take it thru a legislative process that would make it a Resolution that a pilot program would be established to evaluate our corporate capabilities. The 2nd stage being, a bill established that would allow us to work directly with the directorates concerned.
Two – Realizing we would need the funding you spoke of in the interim to stay solvent, we decided to offer a limited free pilot program to intested parties in the private sector. This would also help to increase interest in our corporate capabilities. It only works because the software is so universal, and it allows even more work to be completed on-line.
Continuing good fortune in pursuit of the rest of your contracts, and good luck to your hard driving CEO.
Kazz,
Thanks for the explanation of Emo. Glad my son doesn’t dress like that. The boy cuts his hair with a knife…
Calvin, LizK,
Haven’t had time ot review the last blog…do you all know what section & rows your tickets are for the OSU game? I’m wondering if I could get tickets in the same block via OSU…
Kekoa,
Good luck with your company! Getting funding is tough…getting it quickly is even tougher!
By the way, since Colt is not a UH student now I’m pretty sure buying him dinner is fine. That should be the case for other former UH athletes as well. Inviting former players to Tsaiko events should be fine with the NCAA–for example, feeding Stutzmann at the Tsaiko-gate was fine.
Liz,
Lori is really the boss in everything of course–she could have easily vetoed my quitting my old position or asked me to take a job when there was this long delay for the funding to get here. But now she’s officially the boss over not just me at my company–there are 4 or 5 others that she will be in charge of also!
I hear no UH coaches have been to Maui to check out prospects. Coaches from
Oregon State, Oregon Wahington, Washington St. Arizona, Utah, UNLV have all been
on the island to check on this kid Mana Rosa. I hear this kid would love to play at
UH, but was told by UH that they will check on how he does during his season.
These are the Maui kids playing major collage football. Kaluka Maiava(USC)
Baby Maiava(redshirt UCLA), Shawn Tesoro(UNLV) Jojo Dickson(Idaho)
Tavita Finau(West Virgina) Stanley Malamala(Arizona St.) Walter Kahaialii(BYU).
Jason Rivers is on one of the front page photos of the Tennessee Titans website.
Supplying needs for the different sports programs, I have been in contact with JD about that, I have requested that each coach, of each sports program make up a wish list that can be used to see where we as a group can help out in meeting these needs, please stay tuned.
Garret, Having been there done that I know how exciting and yet excruciating ventures can be.
ST Great pics Of course we know, no QB will be successful with three and outs, OLine must be the story of the year and I feel we are going to surprise some skeptics.
Re: Offering Scholarships. it is a dangerous event nowadays and I agree, we should be very position oriented, not athlete oriented. It is different than the pro game.
guys mentioned fb grips-on the laces, etc….I believe CB mentioned that he didn’t bother about setting his fingers with the laces, he learned to throw the ball comfortably from wherever the ball settled in his hand…meant for a quicker release
forgot about the Tuipolotu from lahaina who goes to Arizona, count that as another Maui kid in collage football
The one thing I’ve learned in my many years of covering UH football is that the coaches know best.
They spend hours upon hours evaluating talent. They’ve got a huge grease board filled with names upon names.
And, as we’ve seen in the past nine years, their evaluations have proven to be correct. Remember that Chad Owens got zero offers coming out of high school. So let’s let the coaches coach, and not get into a tizzy as to whether they’re missing the boat on somebody. It’s only June. Nobody can sign until the first Wednesday in February, anyway.
Let’s see if it works this time around. Two times, the posts have just disappeared.
GARRET: Congratulations on your achievements. I don’t know if you read MAD Magazine or not, but there’s a hilarious bit in the current issue about “The Pros & Cons of Working At Home.”
PAUOA BOY: So you’re coming back to Hawai`i – how long will you be here? It’s amazing that you can move and then take a trip in the same week.
****
Sometimes there’s no knife or cutting board or juicer or water or pitcher or a pinch of sugar available to make lemonade. Unfortunately, the lemons life hands us are too big to use as golf balls and too small to use for batting practice. Any other suggestions?
****
There’s a very interesting and quite complex story behind the big shift in support for repairing Aloha Stadium as opposed to building a new one. It has to do with political ambitions as well as other significant capital projects which, when completed, will generate millions of dollars in revenues to whomever owns Aloha Stadium. There’s also a modification in previously-held legal opinions about selling naming rights. If anyone is interested in learning more, the information is available.
BTW – someone asked about Diamond Head as a potential location for a stadium. DH is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Land and Natural Resources and is a national monument. Even if it were possible to get the state and national laws changed to allow it to be used as the site for a new stadium, DH is located in the heart of the wealthiest community in the state and, according to a number of sources, one of the 15 highest-income communities in the country. It is highly unlikely that they would allow such a thing to happen.
Have a good “rest of the weekend.” It’s really hot here in Kailua even with all the fans going in every room. Too bad the Keolu $1 movies closed earlier this year because that was always a good place to cool off in the hot days of summer.
Chawan, thanks for the heads-up!!!

A knife? Funny you mention that. A friend of mine in the Air Force did that a few times in high school. He was odd like that.
Oh and don’t forget the “bed-head” look as well. Da kine where they literally look like they just woke up and never bother to wash or brush their hair…
I’m in Laie burning up.
It’s hot. No wind.
But one good thing: My son did a fire-knife performance. It was the first time with real fire.
But I did run into Richard Torres today.
J-Dog,
Just saw it. Looks like J-Riv still sportin’ da dreads.
WOAH! ST, I didn’t know your son was into that!
Had a guy in my class in high school that did that every year for May Day. He’d come to class afterwards with bandages on his hands and forearms all the time.
He was real good, but of course I can’t imagine anyone saying, “that fire-knife dancer is not bad”…
He said it sounds different without the drums. A lot of whooshing.
Better you burning up than your son, I guess…
Capitol -ist/WassupDoc, Hopefully be down there either the 3rd or 4th of July, and leave the weekend following the Blog Bash. So about a week if all goes as planned. Moving is a pain in the arse for sure, but I’ve done it so many times that I make sure I’m organized enough to where it doesn’t give me a headache.
Has Richard Torres been involved in the UW’s in Manoa? Haven’t heard his name much since Spring ball ended.
Re: QB’s
I agree that Greg Alexander will need to fix his throwing motion and keep the ball up during his wind up. It will allow for a quicker release and better accuracy. I’m sure Coach Rolo will get that fixed.
Love the fact Graunke is getting out there, that’s where he needs to be.
PB ~ During ‘no tell’ mission deployments to ‘parts unkown’ the wife used to know that if I didn’t come home by 9 PM, it was time to go to the unit and pick up the car. I could be gone 3 days to 3 months sometimes…
PCS moves are an incredibile time to lighten your household goods and trim the shipping weight to the authorized load limit. You get used to traveling light, huh? When you go home and look at all the junk people accumulate around the house and garage…whew! Makes you glad you didn’t keep that old sofa, or dinette set. It’s just a good way of purging ‘stuff’ you no longer really need. So you hold a yard sale and hope that it is going to be someone else’s treasure.
Good evening everyone! Hope you’re having a great weekend.
Doc – gotta agree with you re: Keolu Theaters. We can’t decide on the spur of the moment to catch a flick anymore. Got any idea what, if any, are the plans for both the theaters? Kailua Theater has been sitting there like an eyesore for what, 6, 7 years?
Just got back from the WaterPark and dinner at Chilis. Time for a nap.
Kekoa – Actually I never come close to my weight allotment. My wife and I live simple and don’t really have a lot of unnecessary things. Plus stuff we’ve gotten over the years and never use usually end up at some family members house who like borrow and no give back, but after you never have em for so long you forget they got em. Plus, I like to keep things organized so a lot of things are already boxed, labeled in the garage and things that are in the house are things we use on a daily basis. Better that way to avoid clutter and less stuff for clean. My wife though needs a swiff kick, cause instead of lightening the load she keep getting stuff from her friends. Since they know we moving they think they can pawn there stuff off on us that they no use anymore, like desks, dressers, beds, etc… I mean I would accept if I didn’t already have what I needed but it’s like honey what the heo I going do with one extra bed set or one full size dresser set. More better where we going put the dayum tings. They joys of moving I tell you, das where my headache come from.
JM2375: The theatre in downtown Kailua is owned by the same corporation that owns Don Quijote or however the name is spelled and will not revert back to Kane`ohe Ranch until 2023. Last time I checked at the beginning of the year, the Keolu Theatre was still owned by Wallace, but they are looking to sell it as they sold the one in the other part of the shopping center to Hope Chapel Olomana. The land itself is owned by KSBE.
I think that the downtown Kailua Theatre would make a fantastic dinner theatre & art gallery location, but I have no idea what DQ’s willing to accept.
STEPHEN: Was Cat Toth invited to the July 10 event? If not, is it too late? She really needs our support & aloha right now.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM: What you report about not feeding the team is simply unacceptable. We will pledge a monthly amount towards the total for whatever it costs to feed 20 high-energy guys, the coaches, and the support staff throughout the season.
Are potlucks a no-no? Seems to me you mentioned that softball team parents & supporters provide the team meals for them. Do the NCAA rules differ from one sport to the next?
What about the other arena sports? Are they facing the same financial dilemma?
If there’s any interest in setting up a formal FEED THE TEAM project, DrDoc and I will be glad to help coordinate it.
The lace discussion is interesting. I remember Jim Plunkett had an odd grip. IIRC he set his thumb on the laces.
Isn’t the college ball slightly smaller than the pro ball. I found that odd-the college b-ball players don’t play with a smaller bball. why should football be any different.
Congrats to Pacman!
I hope that the Titans give Jason Rivers a chance between they have BIG needs at WR. A WR that couldn’t play for the Jets is going to start for the Titans…and he is considered one of their strengths because of the weakness of all but Gage at WR for them.
We’ve talked about hoping that UH schedules Navy and the other armed forces as often as possible, and it looks like Navy (my first choice because of Pearl and because of the Hawaii coaching link) is really filling up their schedule. They announced several long-term scheduling deals this offseason already, and they just announced that they will play home-and-home games with SMU from 2015-2018. I think a WAC team recently was able to schedule Navy also.
Every time I see Navy fill their schedule, I hope that there is still a puka for UH. But if they are filing scheduling slots that are 10 years from now, then UH has less opportunity to find open dates from Navy. I know that Navy could play an extra game if they play in Hawaii, but they seem to be looking for home-and-home deals. Plus, travel costs from Maryland to Hawaii would be steep, which would make the cost of a game in Hawaii fairly expensive.

Gee … slow night tonight. Everybody must be out partying.
Heeelllooooo? Anybody home???
Good Evening Tsaikos!!
I am working on making name tags for the upcoming party. Does anyone have a problem with me putting their blog name (if any) and first name only on the name tag?? If so, please email me at the tsaikoparty email account and I will make adjustments.
Man, I missed out on making fun of Chawan. Thanks for the fun night who ever went out yesterday…I had a great Hawaiian history lesson too. though I was pretty messed up this morning.
Stretch – Ask for the blood test if they catch u, no breathalizer! LOL.
Anyone know if the Golf channel is airing the:
“Great Gigi Galloping Golf Garbonzo”…in the morning?
My money is on Gigi. Number of lost balls, TWO. adjusted score with handicap, 138 for 18 holes. Averaging 4 putts or more per hole. Best score on any given hole double bogey. Finishes ahead of Hubby.
howzit folks.
i just noticed garret’s earlier post quoting mana rosa in reference to his being named in the northwest top 100.
folks, gotta know that most of the early ratings are based on one man’s opinion. that being chris fetters and usually after one day of observation. a player will move up and down the list dependent upon mr. fetters’ mood or what he heard that day.
kekoa,
the real story will be how many strokes weren’t counted.
Hiya!
Just got home from a long day.
Starting on the driving range and putting green. It has been a year since I last went out.
Ah- yup.
Ukuboi and #1 son were out there too.
#1 ripped a few new blisters in his hand and remembered why he gave up golf last year.
I am going to make gigi look good out there tomorrow.
hoo wee!
But it was all in good fun. #1 made us a nice pasta dinner afterwards and Ukuboi played WOW with my grandson and his mom.
Time for nitey nite.
Hope gigi and hubby had a nice dinner at JJ’s tonight!
drink your red bull, sit back, ESPN 219 will feature the UH vs Washington game at 2:30 am.
LizK, I ditto your comments with Ferd’s article…time to get it done and move forward. BF2 needs to prowl the upper campus and be the tsaiko shaker up there…
BF2 don’t forget your banana and cowboy hat when you look eyeball to eyeball with Hinshaw and ask the sista, what no JD contract, wassamatta you
Esme i hope you read my earlier post, game is on at 2:30 am, time to get your fix of warrior action.
28-7 UH behind. 🙂
Good game to watch in anticipation of Florida.

Good morning Tsaikos…who knew Venezuela had a pro B-ball league? Hope Matt does well in the playoffs. It’s not the NBA, but at least gas is only 12 cents a gallon there.
I guess I was 200 ‘den.
99club u counted each entry…must have been a boring evening
Garrett and other Tsaikos,
The Georgia family is saddened at the news of the passing of Uga VI. He was a great mascot and well loved by all. He was larger than previous Uga’s and was more aggressive when other mascots came near (he really didn’t like Tennessee’s hound dog, “Smokey”). He lived a long life for a bulldog and we expected his retirement this year. I look forward to the coming of Uga VII at the Ga Southern game on Aug 30th.
Congratulations to the WAC for winning the CWS. I wish it had been our dogs instead but Fresno represented the conference well.
Hi Merv, thanks for coming aboard….i believe Garret posted item on the passing of Uga VI…Sorry to learn that he did not get to enjoy his retirement…What happened to Bunkhead, not heard from him since the SB
K’den I like talk story bout dis rail stuffs, I like know what other Tsaikos tink bout it. But heahs my take on da thing.
Lets see dey says dat it goin cost each one of us kids an all bout 20,000 bucks over 12.5 years of higher taxes. So dat means foah me I goin lose bout 8 grand by not buying da gas foah da car foah go work. Eh strike one.
K’den I stay riding da thing. I stay at work an Honey girl calls me en say eh you gotta go pick up da kids after pau work, so I say how I goin do dat I stay taking da train, so she says well just get off at da stadium one en take da number 12 bus den transfer to da number 2, den pick up da kids an take da 2 den da 12 en hop on da train, BTW I’ll have dinner ready by 9 when you get home. Ai’yah strike two.
Dey say dat wit da rail thing goin get plenty cars off da roads en goin save all kinds of money for us. NOT eh strike three – yer out!!!!!!!!
So wot you guys tink dis is one good idea, funny too dat one guy in da HA article said dat dey no like’em put on da vote of da peeps cause dey goin vote da buggah down, so dat means we get’em even if we no like’em tuff luck. Technical foul throw da buggah out of da game.
Pomai, you’re absolutely right on…the rail is to keep the construction industry employed for decades…each election who do you find active in holding signs, the union members who endorse the democrats who want the rail…they got to feed the hand that keeps them in office.
if the rail is built, the union that controls the operation and maintenance will threaten a strike every three years unless they get a raise..who will pay for all of this if the ridership is lower than expected.
game over, we beat Washington again, ha ha.
Louisville and West Virginia on next but I’m going to bed
Washington game a nice reminder of how quick Libre is, Pilares too. It will be awesome to see the RBs in action this year. Heard Heun was fast in the spring game and we’ve all seen what LWJ can do.
Question: How much did Lee use the option in his offense?
Wow, UH came back from 7-28 to win???
Wish I stayed up fo’dat!
heheheh
Great Morning All.
NYUH,
At SLS, nil.
At SLS, the QB’s were too valuable to be used for target practice for DE’s.
When #1 son was a Jr. he was 2nd team OL. They were told, no way they would smell PT as long as the starting QB was on the field. (Some kid named Chang, I think it was)

Good Morning my Tsaiko Palys!
djmitcho ~ What about all those festivals get up dere surrounding the 4th of July? Wouldn’t the Wenatchee Indians be dragging their T-P’s into the fairgrounds and setting up their village right about now next to their cousins the Yakima Indians?
If not, you can always join the Rattlesnake Roundup I guess, that’s a good way to practice your Texas two step!
Don’t worry about us Wessai guys…we always manage to find something to either heat things up, or cool ’em down…
Hey Steve,
How much QB’s are there currently ? I know theres Inoke, Tyler, Shane, Jake, Bryce and Kiran from spring and now theres the two JC QB’s plus that HS QB (Steele) and I thought I read that the Moniz kid is coming in Aug. That would be a total of 10 QB’S in the fall. How much are they going to keep ? And what happens to those who don’t make it ?
I only read and see Inoke , Tyler , Shane the two JC’s and Steele working out where’s Bryce K, Kiran and Jake are they still around. I think Jake and Bryce had a great spring and they can compete in the fall for a roster spot. I wish all of them luck in the fall and I hope they do’nt try and replace COLT for he was a once in a life time deal and just try and make their own mark in WARRIOR FOOTBALL.
Count down is only a month away!!!!!!!
