Scott Smith derby
Scott Smith, a defensive end from Saint Louis School, received a limited release from his California football scholarship, according to his father, George Smith.
Smith may have contact with Arizona, Arizona State and Oregon. It is a curious move because those three schools and California are members of the Pac-10 Conference.
Without a release, Smith is not allowed to contact UH, which is a member of the Western Athletic Conference. UH also has a policy in which transferring students must be enrolled in the fall semester by July 1, although that deadline can be extended on a case-by-case basis.
Smith is expected to visit Oregon soon. The Ducks first offered him a scholarship when he was a high school junior.
With a release, Smith is allowed to accept a football scholarship this academic year. Without one, he may join a school only as a walk-on this year.
Smith redshirted as a freshman last season. In accordance with NCAA transfer rules, he also would have to redshirt this season.

Happy 19th birthday to Jodie Tsai.
First!
First?
Rats, just got beat.
Wait, so schools can negotiate the terms of a release? Am I understanding that right? And if so, then why the heck would they prevent him from contacting UH?
Chill Jase – We have a new compliance director. Shall we get a ruling?
Cal-Berkeley being greedy.
The limited release bites big-time! Shouldn’t he be allowed to contact schools outside of the PAC-10 and not on Cal’s schedule for the time that he is eligible to play? No… that would make too much sense.
Eh, disregard my rambling rant. Must be feeding time. It’s Friday night in Seoul. Going for sushi tonight (생선초밥, saengseonchobap).
Jason — I posted some ramblings at the end of the last blog regarding ubiquitous internet access.
…and a real “good morning” to ST in Utah.
another “good night” from me…
Stephen,
Does this mean that if Scott Smith decides to come to UH, he isn’t given a release which means he must walk-on rather than being on scholarship? In that case he would have 3 to play 3 and could be on scholarship after sitting out the required one year as a walk-on.
On a related matter, if he goes to another Pac-10 school which Cal approved and he gets his release, doesn’t he have to sit out two years?
I can’t wait to see Mac turn Mouton loose onto this season.
I love Ryans’ return style: Nothing flashy. He explores and picks a developing gap, releases his Nitros and flat out flies north to south with reckless abandon! No jukes. No dancing. Just a full on, all out sprint to the finish line! I love it!
Ryan reminds me of, The Rocket. All business. Nothing personal given nor taken.
Man on kick offs, if everyone could just take care of their assignments and just give Mouton a sliver of opportunity, there will be a touchdown 12 seconds after every kick off UH fields.
Bring on the Gators! Let’s get this bad boy season rollin!
CalB,
we got yo ‘scopes, yu p/x$t a` syn. 👿
howzit Tsaikos everywhere!
Compliance Guys.
Good luck in your future, BB! Really. And welcome Amanda! Really Really. Regarding your position, I’m just kinda with Kekoa on this one. UH would be served well with Doris Sullivan somewhere in the mix. She has helped so many Hawaii athletes get connected to a educational opportunity, knows the rules, etc.. But hey, maybe da bosses already thought of all that.
So here’s my suggestion. Work really hard to get tomorrow’s assignments and work done today. And, ask coach to allow you 5 minutes at the next coaches clinic. Introduce yourself. Start off on a positive. People like me want to support all aspects of Warrior Football and could use a tutorial from the likes of you instead of the usual “no can do.” Thanks
Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.
sjmacro,
thanks for letting Inoke know that supervisor Kyle Tengan has two working JUGS now. jus remine em no fool wit da dials (or ask Roger Hill if day dunno how fo use).
Its official. 36 days to Florida. da mindset is steel cages on da lines. Florida goin try to intimidate wit sum big peeps, speedy peeps, plenty tuubaz, noise maykahz.
jus remembah Warriors, under all dat hype, at da end ah da day, they goin know they got beat by da bettah team. Das you!! going be one bittah pill so yu no day goin fight. yu goin afta day banana. so work hard. man up. da mind people, da mind. work your mind. visualize what you gotta do fo win. dats what dis is about. win.
GO WARRIORS!
…oh… an have a nice day. 😀
lots of Esmes tonight
Ralph – how come your always posting so late at night, you just getting off from work?
I’m still wondering what is tougher: the heat in the Swamp or the lack of air in Reno?
Hiflyer no just a nighthawk, habit….
pictures won’t post on firefox…..ST are you using your new camera….there are times the pix aren’t available, only content with JPG and an error 404 results when I try to open it.
high altitude plays tougher, thin air makes it difficult to energize and your insides burn like hell. The swamp with humidity makes them sweat but if the athlete is well hydrated and in top physical condition, much easier to overcome…
Yeah Ralph I can’t see the pictures either.
We will kick their a$$ next time!!!!!!!!!!
Warriors 14-0 with a win in the Fiesta Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Humm…Smith not being able to contact UH coaches? What kind of game is Berkely playing with Hawai`i boys? Could it be if they let him talk to UH that more Hawai`i born and bred players would asked to be released too?? Tipoti, etc? Kinda like a male anatomy part this feels like.
Also, from the WSN board, per WarblOw : Rawlins-Crivello las left the BSU team
http://www.idahostatesman.com/newsupdates/story/451167.html
ST- Does Utah have their own equivalence of a “Kamaaina” rate? Perhaps a Utonian Rate?
Next time on the road, just before you purchase something, ask the cashier, “Eh, you guys get Kamaaina rates?” Then note their reaction and response here on the blog.
Why the hell am I up so early too?? Could it be that my fiance has to work and its my day off today? hehee more computer time for me!
uhwarriors(#7) IIRC, its only a WAC rule that a players has to sit out two years? Feeling I am wrong in that, but its still early in ‘da mornin for me…
re Scott Smith – I gotta do a Stretch and say WTF!
Cal SUCKS!!!
Thanks 4UhFan from WSN:
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2008/07/morning_look_colt_brennan_play.html
Sorry for
da early mornin Spam, but as mom always said “Sharing is Caring”
What’s up with the blue gradient background. First the front page, now this.
Thanks Ralph,
The high altitudes have been a particular burden UH has had to carry whether in Reno, Provo, etc. While the Gators will be tough, the heat should be manageable. After all, Hawaii starts to get warm in August too. I think one of the keys will be to make sure the players don’t dehydrate on the plane.
Aloha Kakahiaka!!!
~•~ 😯 🙄 😀 ~•~ Good Morning Tsaikos and Warrior Nation!!! ~•~ 😀 🙄 😯 ~•~
Hmmmm… I might be off by a day, but…
~•~•~•~ ❀ ♪ ♫ 😆 Happy Birthday Jodie Tsai!!! 😆 ♪ ♫ ❀ ~•~•~•~
Feature on Doris and PIAA.
Happy Birthday Jodie Tsai!
It is strange that Cal would seem to want Steve Smith to go to a competitor instead of UH…bad for Steve, bad for UH, and even bad for Cal because they have to face him every year if he stays in the Pac-10.
Bess mentioned as a key member of Miami’s WR group.
Good Morning Garret! Towards the end of last night’s blog, ST said he was flying home “tomorrow” as it was his “middle daughter’s” birthday. That was at 10 pm HST – so I don’t know if that means Fri or Sat. The other confusing part is – ST & Wena have two daughters right (+ Devon James)? How can Jodie be “middle daughter”? 😆
So if Scott Smith wants to go to UH, he has to walk on? Hey, didn’t UH give their blessings to Abu Ma’afala to contact Cal? In fact I think JJ made the appropriate contacts for him. How soon people forget.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Hauoli Lahanau, Jodie!
Good Morning and Aloha Friday to the Tsaikos!!
Still no pictures… 🙁
Techs are prolly sleepin from tweakin and will be up again soon to continue.

More on Colt Brennan
“There is a pretty long story in today’s paper about Colt Brennan, but there was also a lot of material from him that didn’t make it. He is a pretty laid-back guy, and he loves to talk…”

Ex-Hawaii QB battles for Redskins job
“…I’m not really a loud kind of guy in a sense,” Brennan said. “I was kind of put on a pedestal out there in Hawaii, and I wanted to show everyone that I could have fun with it and embarrass myself. Right now I am just trying to get a job and play the game.”
btw.. Redskins will have a scrimmage tomorrow. They play the Colts on August 3. WOW!!

I just came across this thread on the Redskins website, it’s pretty hillarious!

Hawaiianbod and the rest of the Tsai-kos: Pictures are working now. I don’t know what happened, but oh well…
Cal must have forgotten that when the roles were reversed several years back, UH released a defensive linemen to attend Cal. It was the guy who scored the TD his first year. Abu Maafala?
Jayson,
That’s some funny chit!
Speaking of “chit”
Evidently, Bears don’t only chit in the woods
Jayson- Bwahahaha!
Good, bad or indifferent, CB does attract the spotlight.
HIHO!
d1, I know. It’s pretty amazing that a 6th rounder gets so much attention after only a week of camp.
one more thing- anyone heard anything on CJ lately????
good news that RGM is a Bear now. Hope he stays!
Happy Birthday, Jodie! You’ve got a great dad.
I am babysitting today and next week. Granddaughter is tugging at my muumuu. Bye for now!
G’day Tsaiko Ohana & Thanks Kelli!
Ok now if you can fix a few other things around the blog like you did the photos, life would be such a cruise!
Jodie, Jodie, Jodie…Have a Happy Birthday today! I hope dad takes you out to a nice dinner (not Mickey D’s). Then, the keys to a new car would be an appropriate gift for a young lady on the move.
BTW thank you for all your help during the blog bash. I know it was a bit overwhelming at the registration table at times, but ya done good!
And I’m sitting in the airport. My flight out of Salt Lake City is delayed four hours, thus forcing me to miss my S.F. connection. Or, as Jodie said, “I guess we’re having a late dinner tonight.”
Good morning all! 🙂
Liz- we missed ya at the opera last night.
That stuff with Smith is a lot of crap! What ever happened to sportsmanship? That kind of control on a young man’s life is not justifiable and should be un-constitutional! 👿
DPK… I read the opera this morning. That was a GOOOOD one! Way to startle the neighbors with screen-laughs at oh-dark-thirty!
Hang tight, ST!
Something interesting may come up in those “lost” hours.
Your family is incredibly unselfish… sacrificing their time with you so that you can do your job. Very special…
ST – I hope you make it back by dinner time
Interesting information on Scott Smith. The information that I received was that he was severely homesick last year and he used to call home constantly. The move to Oregon or one of the Arizona schools really would not make too much sense if that was the issue. The academics are very rigorous at Cal and maybe that would explain his request to move to another Pac 10 school.
ST – with no Red Carpet Club in SLC, what are you going to do for 4 hours??!!??
“I don’t know how not to have fun,” he said. “I’m dying and I’m having fun. And I’m going to keep having fun every day I have left.”
http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/books/07/25/obit.pausch/index.html
off topic.. but in spirit…
Liz – the Randy Paush “Last Lecture” video was very good thing to watch.
Morning Tsaikos!
Happy Birthday Jodie Tsai!
Liz,
Sad to read about Randy Pausch’s ultimate demise.
His lecture is amazing. We’ve given his book as grad gifts.
Come to think of it, IDK why I haven’t read it myself yet.
Good Morning ST, Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Happy Birthday Jodie!!!
Happy birthday Jodie!
d1 – maybe this weekend would be a good time to sit around, relax and read a book
funny that you mentioned his book. I plan to use a Borders 30% off coupon this weekend and buy it. What an inspiration he was!
Stretch,
Well, anything’s possible.
RALPH/HIFLYER: I use Firefox and have no problems seeing ST and whoever photos.
Not an expert, but you might look into Firefox’s options and see if it accepts cookies from the blog and that sort of stuff.

scott smith dilemna
you think cal thinks we tampered?
you think cal is protecting their reputation with the local kids?
–trying not to create an “avalanche”, tipoti, etc.
you think cal is discouraging smith’s exodus because of some underlying future recruitment of local kids?
–you know how others thinking of coming to cal may veer away because of stuff like this………..a coveted lb’er for example.
tell us what you think.
Well, time for me to call it quits for the day folks. It’s already BDT here on the East Coast. Have a good and SAFE weekend.
Da birdie says that these are the odds about where Scot Smith is leaning. He is very excited about his trip to Oregon this weekend.
Oregon 75% Good friends with incoming JC QB
Ariozona 15% Mom’s family not too far away
Hawaii 5% Home
ASU 5% Mom’s family nearby
Vanessa,
Please post more often.
al,
Tampering? If a kid comes home on a break and runs into a coach while he’s in town, is that tampering?
Avalanche? He was pretty tight with his SLS classmate who went to Cal w/ him; maybe…
As far as future prospect(s), that kid get so many options IDK if this makes much difference.
monkey face,
Eh, too early for math problems. But thanks for the insight.
btw, that wasn’t a wet birdie, was it?
OK, now I’m starting to feel like that Tom Hanks character who lives in the airport.
By the way, this airport actually pays 25 cents for returning carts. I think I can make me some Pac-Man money. Oh, wait, this isn’t 1983 anymore.
Is the picture problem solved?
st…save the quarters for tom. he’ll appreciate it.
haha.
d1…yah, i hear you. i forgot about solo. i was just speculating. i heard about the homesickness last year.
it doesn’t make sense for them to release him to those pac10 teams, but, you know that there is an ulterior motive behind all this.
last night i had probs with the pix. but, not today.
last night the blog was as slow as “mole_sses” so i stopped blogging with you all out of frustration.
on the ninth island, via my laptop, it kept asking me those danged census questions over and again. rather irritating for me.
i started plugging in any kine birth years and found out that the census did not recognize me if i were born in 1902 or earlier. what age discrimination?
Can anybody explain why there are huge “arrival” boards by the gates?
I can see by baggage, where friends and family await. But by the gate? I mean do you get off the plane, race to the board and go: “Yep, I really did arrive.”
ST – yes, pictures are up.
Could’ve been worse – Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
Any apple martinis nearby?
Good Morning TSAIKOs and CyBeerLurkers…..nice to see your posts Vanessa…..Happy Birthday Jodie….and the (Warrior) Beat goes on…and on..!!!!!
Vanessa – Welcome! Post more often and attend any of the Tsaiko events.
Are you the Vanessa that works with Doris of PIAA?
Stephen,
re: those boards by the gates
SLC airport must not have been renovated since before Sept 2001 when F & F’s were allowed near the gates.
Oh…I guess we have to wait for Steve to come home to eat dinner? Wow… I was planning to eat around 5 tonight and save our leftovers for him. But now I read on this blog that Jodie will wait. Good thing for Jodie, Steve will now have fresh food.
Hi ST!
Hi Vanessa!
A hui hou Jayson!
CONGRATS, JORDON DIZON… a LION at last!
sheesh!
go lions, skins, dolphins, bears, 9ers, and any others that i may have 4gotten. still can’t believe /elam won’t be a bronco anymore.
ST
How much lay over does this give you in SF now?
Happy Birthday Jodie !!!
Chris in ATL — long time no see! Are you attending any of the UH road games this year?
Hello to Vanessa — I must have missed you the first time you posted. So, my usual unobviously obvious questions… 🙄 (1) are you a Tsai-kette? and (2) do you reside in Hawaii?
ST:
You talking about Honolulu or Salt Lake City Airport.
Honolulu’s plasma screens at the baggage claim are the size of a 19″ monitor.
So small around the claim carousel, no can see.
Good Morning all..pulling an esme today.
Happy Birthday Jodie!!!
Wena, who says you can’t eat at 5…and let Jodie eat with ST later on…MWAHAHAHAHA
Good reminder to all Hawaii high school athletes that mainland schools can be very harsh.
For Scott, coming home does not appear to be the most pressing option so Cal’s “restrictive” release may not be a big thing – just the idea that they were willing to do that casts a long shodow.
SteveM,
Are you lonesome tonight?
OK, I’m off to the gate. I think the Burger King folks are getting mad that I’ve spread out my stuff.
I guess I’ll go read the “arrival” board now.
Happy Birthday Jodie Tsai…
Excuse daddy while he fly…
🙂
Hey SteveM-
Don’t go scarin’ off the new female posters with too many questions. Wait until they’ve posted a few times, THEN start stalkin’. 😆
116.
d1島 — good thing my coffee cup was empty when I read that….
…and you one rascal… you know I cannot answer that literally. 😐
I’m in trouble either way… 😆
ST the arrival tube at your departure gate is to let you know how many more hours you got to wait for the flight that will continue onto your destination. So, you have a four hour countdown, keep watching the board slowly tick down before they announce your boarding….
ST,
does it say “alive” or “arrive”? it also shows what baggage claim to go to right?
Tsaikos, Tsaikettes and Lurkers, let’s all cover Bighilofan2’s back by contributing to the Jugs fund….Billing to exceed $1,000 for parts and labor.
If can, can, if no can, maybe next activity…payable to G. Lee Loy at 38 Kalakaua Street, Hilo, Hawaii, 96720..Thanks.
so he didn’t get a release??..what does that mean exactly…can he still come to hawaii?…can you challenge a release?
Steve M:
Its been a while since I posted but I ‘lurk’ everyday (almost). Im trying to get tix to the Florida game but will definitely be home in Sept or Oct so I will be at one of the home games.
Chris in ATL- we have extra Florida game tix. How many do you need?
I think in football you need the release, so a player can receive aid (another scholarship) to a new school. Usually, no release means you wait one school year before gaining another schollie. An immediate release, you gain free agency and you are free choose.
Not to sure if this correct, but back in the day a friend I grew up with waited a whole year before he could try obtain another schollie.
re: scott smith
does cal benefit in any way by providing a limited release and allowing contact to three schools in the same conference, and/or is it in the best interest of the student athlete? Just trying to find the rationale behind this.
future recruits from the islands should take note and of what can and does happen before making commitment. Anyways, wish the best for scott smith and all hawaii athletes.
GO WARRIORS!!!!!
Chris in ATL — hope you have noticed the Tsai-ko group going to the swamp with a Cattle Call the night before in Orlando…
http://home.hawaii.rr.com/smurashi/tsai-kos/florida08.html
Send you your info if you’d like to be added to the list. A-House is coordinating the Orlando Call but there may be other get-togethers. Keep in touch and join us at Richardson Field when you’re home.
Is there a difference? A release or limited release?
MP ~ There’s no rationale. That’s why they call that school Berserkley!
Hello MP welcome to the blog! Are you a guy and do you reside in Hawaii?
OK Kid– before we really scare off the Tsai-kettes… let me ask you this…
1. Is Chris in ATLshort for Christopher or Christina?
2. Does Pauoa Boy reside in Pauoa today?
No scared — I’m mostly harmless… 😕
That’s some chicken chit stunt Cal is pulling. What, they have sour grapes issues with UH?
I don’t know about SteveM, you better check what kind of frozen parts he has in his fridge.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JODIE!
so is stevem tucked away at some public educational facility in the handicap stall, no less, playing with his toy?
i mean his new itouch. wait, that didn’t sound right either.
steve….what you doing?
wow, xs-irradiated-homey, sounds like SteveM is the new homey blog target!
…just because he got an iTouch… tsk tsk…

SteveM-
I won’t answer those questions. Because if I did, you’d miss out on all the fun you’d have wondering about those things. You can’t fool me, you sly ole’ stalker… 😉

A quick post before I head into town. Mahalo to those with best wishes to DrDoc. He started off by seeing a specialist on Wednesday and will be going to other MD types over the next two weeks as well as taking a series of tests to determine what might be the best options. For now, all I can do is put everything about the future aside until something is known.
Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary and Happy Flight and whoever else is celebrating
A quick reminder: We have several sizes of EZ-Corner tarp-style tents from 10′ x 10′ to 20′ x 40′ to loan to organizations holding various kinds of events. They are also available for a very reasonable rental fee to individuals, businesses, and families holding reunions or anniversary celebration or promotions. The fees go to one of several non-profits. Jason and Stephen have my contact infcormation.
mini cattle call – ox-i-moron?
wish I wuz deah- sounds yummy (casting a glance at home lunch of cold rice, nori and l/o steak pieces).
All the best to Dr.Doc and prayers for a speedy recovery!
SteveM:
I’m a guy in hawaii, am a big time lurker. enjoy reading comments in this blog from informed, intelligent and funny people. Very entertaining.
still trying to figure out cal’s move.
back to lurking.
oh….didn’t know that the dr. doc was ailing.
take care and my prayers out to you and the mrs.
believe in the power of prayer.
liz
i thought an ox was bigger than cattle?
ok, mini because seating is limited to twenty.
and they are going fast.
al, the menu is wonderful!!! I know you will have a good turn out. Unfortunately, I have to babysit. I ate there once and the food is excellent.
Are there other Hawaii players at Cal that are thinking of leaving their program to come home?
It’s a reat Shitty move by Cal to give Scott a limited release!!!
Beware high school football players – not all programs are like Hawaii where the coaching staff is willing to listen to a release request and grant it unless exceptional circumstances exist.
gg….bring the baby. she can sit in the kitchen with the cooks while you dine and sip on a singha or two. better than beck’s.
Happy birday to Jodie, our good neighbor’s daughter!!!!
Happy birthday, Jodie!!!
i think a school gives a release to those schools that are requested by the student/athlete for such.
Soup: tom yum, a lemon grass broth with mushrooms, shoots, chicken (good for hang over. You listening koa family)
good afternoon good people!
“koa FAMILY”? haaaaaa
Al – too bad for me, wouldn’t have mind trying Thai but no kan on wednesday.
yep its back to lurking myself…………..
haha Al. Baby is now at the book case next to the computer. She pulled out Jason’s Football for Dummies. Good taste, eh? Took out my book mark, too.
Dr.Doc, Hope they can figah out what ails you. Think positive.
Will the resurfacing of Cooke Field bids be opened today? What time?
As more info is “leaked” to the public about the Contractor’s License Board happenings, it appears that, perhaps, more under handed situations took place in board meetings which now affect those who may want to bid for State projects be it painting or artificial turf.
Auwe, it only hurts the people of Hawaii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You tried Thai many times, just not the food.
gg….lucky its a baby and not a puppy. the latter would have chewed and shredded the book by now.
g….you will be missing out on a very special opportunity to dine on some great thai cuisine. coupled with an ice cold singha beer…..the only other thing that you would miss is perhaps meeting the twins.
ah, instigator has arrived.
did you go genji’s?
al – not sure who you are asking, but if you were wondering, I didn’t eat lunch at Genji’s.
OK, I would like to join Kekoa and place my support for Doris Sullivan to be considered for the Compliance position at UH.
She is well known for her outstanidng work with hundreds of Hawaii youngsters who seek to further their education obtaining scholarships or grants or loans to attend colleges/universities at home or on the mainland.
Compliance with NCAA rules, I’m sure, is one of the primary tasks facing her daily. Others include working with parents and students to insure that the athlete is academically qualified.
Doris, please apply for the position.
If I come to Phuket Thai can I have Rob25’s portion of the shrimp red curry?
And don’t forget BHF2. We should all send him a $10 check and if we all did, he would be reimbursed for the JUGs.
al:
therefore, UH is NOT included by Scott as a possible school to continue his football career?
its aloha friday. 🙂
Hi diesel.
Yep. More “Friday-er” for some than others 🙂
maybe Scott Smith wasn’t so homesick after all??
I still see the blog is taking it’s time reloading.
Speaking of slow, what did the snail say as it was riding on the turtles back?
WEEEEEEEE!!!
A-HOUSE: Am at my next location before heading off to the bid opening. Will post the results if not already done so by ST as soon as I can get back to a computer. Please check out posts 299 and 300 from yesterday as to current status.
AL: Here’s my RSVP if you still have the room. My e-mail address is info at waa-hawaii dot org. You can get a phone number from Jason, Stephen, Wena or BHF2.
Gotta go – my friend wants her computer back.
SEC media vote picks Florida to win the SEC over UGa. Auburn was picked to finish atop the SEC-West.
Whoa! Nov.1 is a long way from Aug. 30…
You tried Thai many times, just not the food.
hey now…………..
but Honolulu get food handling laws, pretty sure i can eat like a Tsaiko and not worry? anyways, hopefully another chance later on.
Not much “love” for Bobby Petrino at Arkansas. They are picked last in the SEC-West voting.
Maybe there’s some doubt that he will even be there at the end of the season???
heheheh
Confused-cious say,
Short day only deserve short break.
NauPauLunChauWah…
It’s nice to see the pictures are up and working again.
The SEC picks seem fair for the most part, though w/r/t Bobby Petrino, it’s in the best interest of Arkansas that he not bolt after the first season, a la the Falcons gig.
g….you will be missing out on a very special opportunity to dine on some great thai cuisine. coupled with an ice cold singha beer…..the only other thing that you would miss is perhaps meeting the twins.
yep, i figah so.
btw – don’t know if Singha is better than Beck’s but do know Singha is good stuff. i wouldn’t finish a Tsaiko beer mugs worth.
A-HOUSE: Am at my next location before heading off to the bid opening. Will post the results if not already done so by ST as soon as I can get back to a computer. Please check out posts 299 and 300 from yesterday as to current status.
and hopefully there’ll be no bid problems afterward? sometimes the apparent low bidder isn’t awarded the contract.
The Singha complements the Thai food better than Becks. Becks is too bold and will detract the taste of the food. Singha will soothe the palate thereby enhancing the flavor of each dish. Nah, just kidding. Tsaik!
g-nalo:
Know what you mean.
Just don’t want the Contractor License Board controversery to slow/stop the resurfacing.
Can a “non-board” contractor make recommendations on “guidelines” on special licences to the Board for consideration?
Wholesale unfair advantage to some one like Sadowski who is a contractor and sits on the board.
Did I miss something, but the HA did not run a story on this at all? If yes, is there a connection?
Too all members of any board/commission:
IMHO, you have only ONE boss/focus/interest and that is the people of Hawaii. If this is unacceptable, please consider resigning immediately.
A-House,
It strikes me as slighly odd that HA has not mentioned anything about this Contractors Board brewhaha. As I understand it, UH can still pick a bid and the Contractors can fight over it later, State Ethics also wants to get involved. I’d say get’r done and then fight all you want, lol.
ST, good neighbor:
Are you at the boarding gate for your “delayed” flight?
Coming up to the 6 pm hour MDST.
Can you get a flight home out of the West Coast tonight?
Jodi, may be very late dinner or regular dinner time.
Florida Ted:
ditto your #180 – get it done and then go fight in the courts!!!!!!!!!
A-house – see #113 ST was headed for the gate, hopefully he doesn’t have another delay at SFO.
Can a “non-board” contractor make recommendations on “guidelines” on special licences to the Board for consideration?
i would think yes cause the Board is there to serve ALL Contractors.
tsai’s….at least zippy’s will be open.
sorabol will be open, too.
Zippy’s??? Yuck!
Anna Miller’s is open. Can catch the H3 home when pau.
and Liliha Bakery stay open too
“SEC media vote picks Florida to win the SEC over UGa. Auburn was picked to finish atop the SEC-West.”
Great… UH gets to play the #1 team of 2007 AND 2008 back to back! There better not give any SOS (sass) this year!!!
OTOH- I think we just got a lot of new fans… BB and Merv – send your buddies down to root for UH in Warrior green and black!
I’ll be cheering for UGa myself
There better not=They better not
jojo…..you never answered me. what about wednesday you guys in or out?
didn’t liliha bakery close or was bought out?
Mmm, Sŏrabŏl (Seorabeol). I haven’t been there in years. But I just had bibimbap last night, so I’m good.
It was bought out by Peter Kim…Yummy Korean BBQ.
you mean liilha bakery?
so will the infamous coco puffs be replaced by man doo?
It still remains status quo.
Didn’t Peter Kim kick for Alabama?
That heart was getting irritating. Time to play brokahnic. esmeing.
Chocolate mandu?
coco-du
Liz – ROTFLMFAO
Hi jojo! Howzit?
This news was already released yesterday, but just in case anyone missed it…UH will need to gear up for the run when SJSU comes to Aloha Stadium this season. I hope that Maka gets his 6th year also!
LizK . .
Go change a diaper.
al – sadly, no we won’t be going. We are having milk issues.
Man, this is hard work running around for omiyage for the relatives. This will be the last time, though. After this only one bag limit. Kind of sad — the end of an era.
wafan- pretty soon! September! Woohoo!
Yeah- omiyage will be getting smaller and smaller… one coco puff for you, one for you…
What kind of omiyage can I bring from Madison besides cheese and University of Wisconsin merchandise? 😛
Garret –
I betcha Yonus Davis has bad dreams from last time at Aloha stadium.
Our defense shut him down to his lowest stats all season in ’06. UH will do it again this year too!
i’ve heard that molasses has the same effect that milk does when eating spicy food, it kills all your senses
Bring back a tall blonde with long legs…..
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
Hi Hawaiianbod: No I don’t work w/ Doris.
Hi SteveM: I am not a tsai-kette. What does it take to become one? I also split my time between Maui & Oahu, but I’m mostly here on the west side of Oahu.
I’ll try to post more. My two babies keep me pretty busy during the day so I usually try to lurk at night, when the house is quiet. I love football & this blog is awesome – so much information!
Ok back to the keikis. Have a great weekend!
re: Francis Maka
The advantage Yonus Davis had was that he is still currently at the school that was required to send in the paperwork to the NCAA. I believe ST mentioned in a previous blog that the difficulty Maka is facing is getting the paperwork from the University of Arizona.
Vanessa- how old are the babies? BTW- you are already a Tsai-kette 😆 Congrats!
Jiggety Jig!
Vanessa, welcome,
All you have to do is post or attend any Tsaiko gathering.
You are now officially a Tsaikette. Aloha.
afternoon gang!
anyone hear about the bid results for cooke field?
Jason! I love WI bratwurst… be sure to try them! Watch out for the skeeters!
watching Team USA blow up Team Canada
Carl English looks like he got bigger
Jason,
Look for good deals on Brett Favre stuff. Should have plenty bargains…
peter kim
kaiser hs
uh
trans to alabama
Hmmm…
What to do this weekend???
Practice five (maybe six) F’s?
Avoid da ocean?
Eat stew?
Hmmm…
Look for one oven/pool combination!!!
heheheh
jojo….sorry to hear about that.
Happy Birthday Jodie
Wena…eat at 5 p.m., then eat again when Steve finally arrives. I don’t see a problem.
Great article from scout.com.
Howzit Tsaikos everywhere!
It’s taken me all day (not unusual), with various interruptions (work can be such a pain…but at least I can lurk on the WB when slow) to get through today’s comments. Entertaining and enlightening as always!
Hey ST — Enjoyed the article on Mouton (as always), but I gotta pick one small nit:
it’s Honorable Discharge, not Honorary…heheheheh… everybody slips up once in a while, even the venerable Mr. Tsai. Blame it on the editors — aren’t they supposed to pick up things like that? Yeah, that’s the ticket, it’s all their fault……
A hui hou kakou!
The new owners of Liliha Bakery plan to keep it as is, and maybe even franchise the concept. When Sweety and I are both being very weak, we love to get some o’ them cocoa puffs. mmmmmMMMMMmmmmm.
Okay. I gotta be honest. Sweety is strong. I’m the one who drags us down by crying and begging ’til I get my way. 😳
Vanessa – Au’ryte! Another Wessai Tsaiko (ette) in the hale.
Again, welcome!
Gotta agree with Homey re Zippys. Overpriced and portion-challenged.
DPK,
At least you don’t get threatened by deprivation by your wife. Shoot, I guess I’m like a dog (or any other pet) – positive reinforcement works!!
Perhaps a box of cocoa-puffs at the end of the 40 mark, first to get there gets it…..woohoo, watch the Warriors 40 times improve dramatically!!!
Have a nice weekend all you Tsaikos!
Hawaiianbod,
Funny you mention the overpricing and under-proportioned portions. The wife and I went there last night. Talk about wop-yo-jaws, fricken surf pac is almost $10!!! And dat buggah is no special bento or anything! Sad thing is, until their competition have better pricing, their pricing now going stick around for who knows how long, or maybe even get worse. The average $5 plate lunches will be a thing of the past very soon.
Peter Kim played for the Hall of Fame coach “Bear” Bryant at Alabama and had a very successful career. If not for some leg problems I believe he would have made it in the NFL. Leg was strong & he was really accurate. My friend and I provided him with the introduction from soccer to football at Kaiser HS through Bill VonArnswaldt.
Homey – I will let you have my shrimp if you can behave!
You might be quick on the chopsticks and take it before I even see it.
Tell Zippy’s to STOP riding the Gravy train ( yes, pun intended.) The party boat days are over.
onarock – $10! OMG!!
Have you noticed the ever-so shrinking portion of the rice and mac salad? It appears they went out of their way to find the smallest scooper avaiable. I thought I was back in elementary school.
Hi DPK (belated greetings from last night), it sounds like you are cuckoo for cocoa puffs! 😆
With regard to Smith’s limited release from his football scholarship, I’ll go with Occam’s Razor and suggest that the release was limited to the schools where Smith would like to transfer. Cal does not gain anything by limiting the schools to which Smith could transfer. It may be that Smith thought he could not transfer to UH due to the July 1 deadline mentioned in Stephen’s post and that Oregon, Arizona, and ASU do not have such a deadline.
Going out this evening so I’ll post this reminder now…
😆 😀 😆

Vanessa – come meet the Tsaikos/Tsaikettes on Aug 16.
No shame. If can, can. If no can, then next time.
Happy Birthday Jodie! Great summer for the Tsais, Allie graduates, Allie celebrates her 21st birthday, ST & Wena celebrates their 26 anniversary and today, celebrate Jodie’s birthday…
what happened to the opening of the Cooke Filed resurfing bids?
nothing on the 6pm news – what’s going on???????????
The Dork Knight was first on several other HA blog sites.
Interesting.
Who is that masked man/woman?
Well, after missing one flight and then almost missing another, I am back on the rock.
First, it was that long delay out of Salt Lake City, forcing me to reschedule my connector out of S.F. Then when we finally get on the plane, nothing. We just wait. it turns out that the Salt Lake crew forgot to send a truck to fuel the plane.
A half-hour later, we’re in flight. Then as we get close to S.F, suddenly we’re going upward. Turns out that there was too much runway traffic. So for the next 45 minutes we’re just, well, hanging around. I told the guy next to me it was a good thing the plane was gassed up. He said, no, that’s a bad thing. If we were low on fuel, they’d make us land.
And so we land and, naturally, I’m at the other end of the terminal. And so your blog host sprinted. The final 20 yards, I’m screaming like a little girl: Wait, oh, please, wait.
And they did.
Yes, it was my luck that United, for the first time this year, decided to have a flight depart on time.
Hey, I think “Curt” is in the Hilo Hattie’s ad that they show on airplanes.
Unkanesson:
Nice catch.
Nobody’s catching many things these days since I’ve been feuding with some non-sports-department people. After a story goes through our sports folks, it ges a once-over from another department.
Thanks again.
Welcome home Mr. Tsai!
I hope you have a wonderful dinner with your family — now that they are half starved. HA!
Happy Birthday Tsai #2!
hmmm, Homey, Stretch, and D1 — looks like we still have a bet — sort of.
Brett Favre plans to report to the Green Bay training camp to force a show-down. Will they go with Favre or with the new QB?
The ideal situation for him would be to rehired by GB, wouldn’t it?
So to refresh your memory, I bet that Favre, if hired by GB, will take the team to a Super Bowl win. You guys bet that he will not.
Prize: lunch at Camellia.
woo hoo. Let’s see if I can hang on to my winning streak. I have already won 2 bets against Tsaikos. My prizes were lunch at Camellia and dinner at Genji.
BTW, ST, welcome back to terra firma!
Howzit howzit Tsaikos everywhere.

Jordon and Ikaika on da same team!
Ikaika- Uncle Tracy is very proud of you. Very proud.
” In the one-on-one pass rush drill, it was obvious that Ikaika Alama-Francis has spent some time working on his inside counter moves. He still has a long way to go, but his technique is better. These one-on-one drills will be important for Alama-Francis because he has to build up some confidence with his pass rush.”

ST- WELCOME HOME!
bhf2- chk will be in da mail Monday –
BHF2,
I’ll mail a check to you on Monday. Anything to help the team!
hey, great minds think alike, don’t they, Liz?
Coach Mack was on the Kauai ra-jo this afternoon during my drive home. There is a Luau tomorrow night and a golf tourney on Sunday. Coach Mack is not playing… he is meeting and greeting the golfers and fans.
Does the man every sleep???
Haha, gigi.
How’s this one.
al said- bring the baby and let her sit with the cooks in the kitchen while you eat.
My daughter has a pick of Lilu sitting with the cooks in Portugal while they were eating in the dining room. The Portuguese love children as much as we do 🙂
BHF2
got paid today will send some more give them h-ll
gigi-hawaii ©:
did you ever figure how long it takes to freeze beer???
I would love to visit Portugal. How were the malasadas over there? Sweet bread, too. Don’t know any other Portuguese food.
curveball… eeeuuuuww..
Ka-TOOSH!
Dunno about freezing beer but hubby left his in the freezer overnight. Next day, we saw the bottle had exploded. There was glass all over the freezer…
gigi-hawaii ©:
well thats to long stick in ice for 15 mins perfect
(yup- ka-toosh!)
gigi and al- I posted the pic of Lilu at the restaurant. 😆
St, Welcome back!
Jodie, Happy birthday! Hope you didn’t starve to death waiting for your Dad.
Doris – PIAA, You’re welcome.
bhf2, You’re welcome also. “It Could Happen to You” – a little sappy, but a feel good movie.
CORRECTION TO MY BET —
Favre still has a contract with GB til 2010.
So, I bet that if Favre STARTS for GB in the Fall, he will take the team to the Super Bowl in 2009.
Liz, thanks for the heads up about the last pic of Lilu.
gigi-hawaii ©:
He will be gone in a week bet is a frozen Becks
uneventful. Glad you didn’t make the evening news. Happy Birthday to Jodie!
sorry, curveball, the bet was already closed to those 3
Tsaikos. They are psycho to bet against me. haha
Sorry for the strange posting above. Still having difficulty posting on the iTouch. Meant to say glad that ST is home safe and sound, and did not do anything to make the evening news.
Happy Birthday to Jodie. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
ANOTHER CORRECTION TO MY BET:
I bet that if Favre STARTS for GB, he will take the team to the Super Bowl in 2009.
GO FAVRE, GO PACKERS!
This projected Miami depth chart has a lot of relevance to some Warriors.
“correction”?? you not trying to change the bet, right??
Jessica Simpson has supposedly been trying to keep her romance with Tony Romo as low-key as possible to reduce distractions for him…but then she dedicated a song to him.
Free play link time. Please ignore my next 5 posts if you do not want the off-topic stuff. We have houseguests this weekend so I won’t be posting much this weekend after the next 5 minutes.
If this Stanford study is correct, our bodies do not just wear out as we age…our genes trigger the aging process. This theory would mean that with periodic gene therapy humans could be like some animals who do not age (tortoises lay eggs at 100 and whales could live more than 400 years, etc.).
Amazing that Southwest Airlines has not lost money in ANY quarter since 1991! But their profitability is largely due to their lower fuel costs due to their hedges…but their hedges are slowly ending and they will have to pay market prices for fuel soon. Last year 90% of their fuel was cheap due to hedges, now that is down to 80%, next year it will be 70%, in 2010 it will be 40%, and in 2011 it will be 20%! Southwest has put a freeze on its growth plans…so I guess they won’t be starting their flights to Hawaii for quite some time.
High gas prices are forcing rural school districts (where school buses can travel 100 miles each day) to consider going to a 4-day school week.
Looks like the newspaper I subscribe to (San Diego Union-Tribune) is for sale. I hope that the buyers cover San Diego news well.
Cool photo shows what happens when a F-16 strafes a GMC Suburban.
Free play links pau.
STRETCH,
I corrected the bet because I wanted to make it clear that Favre has to start for the season, not just for the Fall, and that by starting, he will guide the team to a SB victory.
I have no faith in the other QB.
Is Miami going to acquire a vet WR? That would be bad for Bess as it would drop him one spot on the depth chart and make it much harder to make the active roster…though he could still get a practice squad spot.
I really have a strong feeling that I will win again. Sorry, guys!
Hamocon won the Cooke field bid, he did the Murakami stadium… His winning bid won over Sadowski by $25K
Ralph. Does Hamocon have the correct license to do the turf?
gigi- THAT is the $25K question….
he does not have the license recommended to the contractors board..His company was targeted and eliminated from the bidding protocol but looks like he submitted a bid anyway…now the question, will the low bid be accepted..
Well, I thought having the correct license was NOT a requirement; it was advisory only.
became advisory only after people complained, not when Hamocon approached the board and asked how come the rules were changed to keep him from competing for the project.
If you are “clarifying” you should say clarifying, not correction. When I see correction, it looks like you are changing the bet. Almost like a contract, once it’s signed, you no can change the details.
gigi…..the rules of a bet does not allow one to alter his/her position when originally made. that would be renigging the bet.
be honorable and don’t “correct” a bet once it was made. that is not “gentlemanly like” when it comes to betting. it is akin to saying that “my word is no good”.
…..on another note, i will bet you that when the season starts, brett favre will no longer be a packer. to clarify on opening day of the regular season in 2008, favre will not be in a packer uniform. camellia’s would be nice.
stretch,
you should ask the blog archivist to research the declaration of bet. that should settle the issue. once a party throws out a bet and is accepted by another, the bet is consummated. no turning back.
on another note………did you organize a search party for the homo sapien hungry shark on the all too dangerous west side?
methinks….scott smith will become a duck like his uncle donald “dpk” duck.
hey al, didja see my granddaughter hanging out with the restaurant owner in the kitchen pic? Click on my name for the blog and scroll down. 😉
Gotta go nini
Sweet Dreams!!!
yah lizk…..that was really neat.
Glad to see you’re back safe, Stephen.
Sorry this is so late, but we went to cool off at another $1 Restaurant Row movie and just got back home.
RE the Bid Openings: There were four submitted. Two were approximately $20,500 apart and the other two were several hundred thousand dollars more.
Winning Bid: $862,881
Next Lowest Bid: $883,363
The whole opening-the-bids event took less than ten minutes. Excluding Procurement Office staff, I think there were no more than eight or nine of us present in the room.
The lowest bidder will be checked out for tax clearances and for meeting the tech specs. Bear in mind that the tech specs did NOTNOTNOT specify anything about a particular contractor’s license beyond the following:
To be eligible to bid, bidders must possess a valid State of Hawaii contractor’s license A. BIDS FROM CONTRACTORS NOT LICENSED IN THE STATE OF HAWAII WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
(Note: The bolded capitalized sentence was also underlined, but the HA blogfonts don’t use them.)
About an hour later, I spoke with David Hafner, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Campus Services/Office of Facilities and Grounds, who said that it will take approximately one week for all the paperwork to be finalized.
As soon as that is done, the first two steps the contractor will take are to initiate the permitting process and to order the materials not immediately available which could take anywhere from two to six weeks to arrive. During that time, all of the site preparatory work will be completed.
We should all thank the Procurement Office and David Hafner for expediting the bidding process.
As for the Bigger Picture Issues surrounding this controversy, it would be very appropriate to ask for an Legislative Auditor’s inquiry as to how this happened. Bear in mind, however, that this is an election year and not much will be accomplished until after the voting results are in and the new committee chairs have been announced. Who they are will be determined by who is elected the Senate President and Speaker of the House by members of the newly-elected Legislature.
In the meantime, perhaps Mark Takai who was elected outright for another term should be asked to help facilitate the inquiry.
The Contractors License Board itself next meets on Friday, August 22; however, the agenda, date, time, and location will not be posted until the previous week. NOTE: The middle two items rarely change so interested parties could look at the Minutes of previous meeting.
If anyone is interested in attending this meeting and wants to speak up, then please contact the DCCA Contractors office at 586-2700 for information about the Public Input part of the agenda.

Sorry for the incorrect ID above in #299.
Time for beddybye when I cannot remember who I am. Either that I’m schitzzy – as any good Tsaiko probably should be.
ST – Welcome Home!
Glad you finally survived the trip from hell.
Good thing that I am not involved in the bet.
My son was devastated when we wrote to him at bootcamp that Brett Favre had retired. He wouldn’t like me betting against the Packers…too bad because I am a Cowboys fan through thick and thin.
Welcome home ST…flying is getting to be such a nightmare, but it just costs a lot more.
Hope you had a good dinner and celebration with Jodie.
HB Jodie!
Rob25 – a Dallas Fan??!!?? My co-worker is a HUGE Dallas fan. He named his oldest daughter Dallas. The two of us went to the playoff game they lost to the NY Giants. It was a lot of fun although they lost.
wdoc….i emailed the info you requested regarding the cc at phuket thai. please let me know if you received it as well understand it.
so will dinner be a happy birthday and a happy anniversary celebration.
and don’t forget the blog’s anniversary celebration or would it be a brithday celebration?????
Sportshawaii blogger posted the lastest sportsbook line:

Hey WDoc, is Ralph correct that Hamocon submitted the low bid and Sadowski was second lowest bid? If so, I suspect we may see a bid protest.

W-Doc, thanks for the Ching field bid update. I hope this doesn’t go into litigation. If it does, you’ll KNOW for sure that Sadowski manipulated the regs for his benefit.
Jayson, mahalo for the Colt / Taylor article. IMHO, Colt learns this year, starts next year.
BHF2, morning! Rained harder here last night than it would in Hilo in the middle of our hula performance. Got to meet a young man, Taylor, from St. Anthony’s on Maui, here for a baseball camp. Kona miss hanging out with students here, but I’ll go look for a job a UH. You should be getting mail from me soon.
ST, hope you had a wonderful evening with the ‘ohana. Memories…
Kekoa, glad you making sure errybody is behaving.
K, hula class all day today. I’m going to be “leg-less” today, sitting on a stool & just learning the arms (‘uli’uli hulas.) How strange is that? Maybe I’ll be able to make a Cardinals practice tomorrow.
Just got a call from whitey in Alaska. It seems Mr. A-House caught all the fish and they haven’t had much luck. Just like Vegas, having fun, but losing money!
Will report on his catches later today!

So you’re sticking with the run-and-shoot?
Greg McMackin: I believe in the run-and-shoot. The players there know the run-and-shoot. I think it’s the best offense in the game. The pros are using it. They pretend they don’t. It’s a read offense, so it’s a coaching man’s offense. Repetitions, teaching it over and over again, that’s what I believe football is all about. Defensive football, fundamentals, techniques — its a coaching man’s offense.

6. Hawaii
The Warriors may surprise us, or they may completely implode under the shaky hand of Tyler Graunke and the deer-in-the-headlights stare of Greg McMackin. We’re betting on the latter.

“It’s not about the quarterback,” backup quarterback Tyler Graunke said Friday after rallying the unbeaten Warriors to a 28-26 victory over Nevada. “It’s not about the Heisman Trophy candidate. We can win with anybody. We’ve got a total team here.”
More history, but good writing
http://thehawaiiherald.com/2008/07/21/the-magical-reno-weekend-an-award-winning-article/
“Do you really think Graunke can start and win — on the road — against Nevada?” Geoff asked somberly. It was the question that held over our heads like a dark cloud for the rest of lunch. We tried to remain optimistic; after all, Graunke had played well in wins against Charleston Southern and Utah State. But we all knew the situation was troublesome: Hawai‘i had never won in Reno and Nevada was a tough team; earlier in the season they had pushed powerhouse Boise State to the limit before finally succumbing in four overtimes. And while Graunke was a capable backup, he didn’t possess nearly the same talents that Brennan had developed over the past two and a half seasons, let alone Brennan’s unique mastery of the Hawai‘i offense. It was obvious that we could all use a bit of encouragement. As if by chance, that bode of confidence came in the form of the Silver Legacy casino.
NO, al, I am not betting against you, cause I am already up against 3 guys. Hey, no fair! j/k.
What was the original bet, Stretch? You remember?
If it said “rehired by GB,” then that would be the wrong wording cause Favre still has a contract with them.
The correct word should be “start.”
NYUH – Such silly rabbits, you gotta be kidding me. I feel sorry for the dirty lickens all these WAC teams will get when our Warrior boys come and whoop there arses! Maybe when they watch Florida, Weber State, and Oregon State Tapout from getting smacked silly all day before the WAC season begins, will they understand who the WAC Champs are and will remain undefeated!!!
Re: Brett Farve
I hate when athletes pull the rope-a-dope move and are indecisive of whether they are coming or going. If you didn’t really want to retire than why mention so? Regardless if he comes back to GB or not, I could care less of Brett Farve. He should help in the development of Aaron Rodgers by letting him start. Dude is 38 years old, I mean realistically how many more NFL seasons do you think this guy can play? Granted he still is better than half the QB’s still in the NFL but Viagra only works for so long. If he plays one more season then leaves without a Superbowl ring, it was just prolonging the process of Rodgers taking over which will hurt GB rather than help later on. GB has a good team but Superbowl capable I think not…
Aloha Kakahiaka!
In the meantime, I’m hoping to see Colt get some time on the field at the Redskins Fan Appreciation Day!

Good Morning Tsaikos!!
I guess ST must be passed out after a long day of travel, no more new post. I guess we can give him ONE day off.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Speaking of the NFL-
“The NFL will stream 17 prime-time, regular-season games in real time on NFL.com and NBCSports.com, including the season opener between the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, according to an advance copy of a story running in Monday’s SportsBusiness Journal.”

PB,
Didn’t Warren Moon play well past his 40th birthday? Don’t give up on Favre; he’s not 40 yet.
Just remember that GB narrowly lost to the eventual Super Bowl champ, the Giants. They still have it in them to take it to the house next year, especially with Favre at the helm.
GO FAVRE! GO PACKERS!
Hi Stretch!
The day is still young.
Hi PB, Hi gigi!
It sounds like Farve but it is spelled Favre…
Aunty Gigi – I just making trouble, I not giving up on him. He’s still better than most the QB’s in the NFL still. I’m not a Green Bay fan but do like there team, especially the defense. I’m a defensive type and think they are one of the best in the NFL. Just wondering how long the Viagra can hold up das all 🙂 Nah, but they should have been in the Superbowl last year would’ve been a good read, then I think Farve would stay retired. Nothing against the Giants but Eli Manning can go fly a kite I dislike that guy with a passion…okay I guess I better switch to water now to much haterade this morning lol…
Hi Aunty Liz – Sorry ah grammah police haha nah nah j/k…
PB… fyi, I was raised in WI and…yes… I…am…a … a … cheesehead at heart 😉
hiya, Liz!
PB, actually my fave QB is Tom Brady. Love his cute face and fearless physique.
Hubby and I had a war going on during the Super Bowl. He hates the Patriots because of spygate and was cheering for the Giants. Sad to say, his team won.
Of course, if GB faces New England in the Super Bowl, I’ll be in deep kimchi, cause I like both teams, though Brady is cuter than Favre!
Good morning there, Tsai-kos!
What a glorious morning! The sun is out! The birds are singing and the ocean is crystal blue! OK. I going…
Umm…I no realleh like a QB based on looks, I no swing that way like some homey guy in hea…but Brady is better than Favre skill wise…
Get this one QB who plays in D.C. in one place they call HogTown that is pretty mean, he’s probably my favorite QB in the NFL…
Eh, would be great if CB won a SB ring!
or, it WILL be great WHEN CB WINS a SB ring!
Good morning A-Joe! ~ Keep the water temp j’right for me in the cement pond. Bradda Jack was spotted off the coast early this morning N/W of your location…dun-dun-dun-dun-dun…No ocean swimming for da Tsai-ko’s. No worries, I’m patrolling da Wessai from Ko’olina to Makaha. Be there Mos Skosh!
Tell Chawan_cut to keep the stinky bait in da waddah and da lady in the pink shirt outta da waddah! James! Wake up!…get one fish on your line!
Mei Ling ~ Sistah!…Can’t wait to have you back on island. We need a Kumu Hula to whip the Tsai-ko’s/Tsaikettes into shape for the next blog bash…and a follow-up performance at Half-Time during the ’09 UH/UNLV game.
ST and JD will be leading the men in their stirring rendition of the Warrior Ha’a. I have the Tsai-ko All Star Band standing by to easily switch into their Halau Hula numbers for you.
The card section will do their flash card routine to dazzle the Nevada Home crowd. We’ll show those Las Vegas hicks that we came to not only support the Warriors, but to light up the strip with da Aloha Spirit!….Ronnie, get your braddah’s drum-line and your flags at the ready.
Aunty Liz ~ National Anthem and Hawaii Pono’i is all yours Babee! Your backup KS singers goin’ make Kalihi Ring ova deah! Yee Haw!
Did I miss anything? Oh!…“GO WARRIORS!”
Sorry gang…getting a little ahead of myself. Must be too much Wessai salt air! Gotta get past Florida first, and den da rest of the ’08 season…
new post.
