Sapolu's son commits to UH; Colt is today's guest

London Sapolu, the son of legendary UH center Jesse Sapolu, has accepted a football-scholarship offer from the Warriors.
Sapolu, who is 6 feet 1 and 295 pounds, will play his sophomore season at Orange Coast Community College in 2009, then transfer to UH in January. He will have two years of NCAA eligibility.
Sapolu was a defensive tackle last season, but he now will move to center, a position his father played in winning four Super Bowl rings with the San Francisco 49ers.
This is an important commitment because 1) the Warriors beat out Tennessee, and 2) it helps bridge the past and future. Yes, this is a London bridge.

Thanks again to Colt Brennan for being the guest on today’s expanded Warrior Beat Show.
Afterward, we dined at Chili’s, where Colt, Princess Leila and Kanoa Leahey did a quick rendition of the Chili’s song:
I want my baby back, baby back, baby back
I want my baby back, baby back, baby back
Chiliiiiiiii’s baby baaaack riiiibs … Chili’s baby back ribs.
Barbecue sauce.

Michael Carter also dined there. Carter and Colt are UH’s only two starting quarterbacks in Mainland bowls.

    all 49’er fans are insomniacs especially when they don’t have a legit qb and the losing continues. 🙂 where’s Brew

  7. Ralph July 7, 2009 12:15 am

    is Sapolu’s other son a 2010 commit to Oregon State or a 2009?

  8. Dirty Commish July 7, 2009 12:15 am

    Niiiiiice. Totally worth the (slightly delayed) wait. Especially for the London bridge line. Zing!

  9. Jason July 7, 2009 12:17 am

    Wow, there’s the pot calling the kettle black.

  10. Ralph July 7, 2009 12:20 am

    if he comes in mid year then he is a 2010 commit class entering at mid year…good for him, all spring to adjust and workout with the team..

    Top 15?

    Welcome to the Warrior ohana, London Sapolu! Next generation of Sapolus.

    BTW, is there a 3-generation UH football family?

    Oyasumina-tsai. Hasta manana.

    ST – here’s hoping she doesn’t go into labor for another couple of weeks at least.

  16. Ralph July 7, 2009 12:35 am

    I renewed my fb season ticket today….one row down but its the first aisle seat….decided to wait to change seats as a new applicant rather than have the dept. call me. as i told Rolo, i’ll sign up eventually….

    Great news! UH is becoming a family tradition- kinda getting that Notre Dame feeling…

    Ok. I was pursuing the 6th F tonight. #1 son is back from 3 weeks on the mainland and we caught up and threw some lines into the water. After he left I caught and returned a couple undersized fish but did come home with future halalu bait.

    Nitey Nite and Sweet Sapolu Dreams!

    Good Morning Tsaikos!!

    Great to have another Sapolu on the Warrior football team.

  20. Rich2176 July 7, 2009 4:24 am

    Hey Stretch – you’re up early…”Business Meeting”?

    ST -aka G-Pop….would have loved to seen you running around last night.

    Nice that Mac & Co. are getting quality early commits!!! WOW, more quality beef on both sides of the ball in years to come.

  21. Rich2176 July 7, 2009 4:29 am

    Looked out my window this morning and saw no less than 5 helicopters hovering over MJ’s family’s home. What a circus this is. People have travelled from all around the globe to pay respect. Memorial service tix available on Craigs list for $1,500/pair.

    My office is 3 blocks from their home. Roads closed down around their house. Long procession to Forrest Lawn starting in about 5 min. The media coverage in L.A. is non-stop.

  22. chawan_cut July 7, 2009 5:01 am

    I won’t be around for the chat with Colt.
    Just wanted to say,

    Thanks for always coming back and giving your support to local charities. You’ll always be welcomed back with open arms. We can’t wait for the rest of the NFL to see what we already know you can do. Good luck this preseason and the regular season as well!

  23. Garret July 7, 2009 5:51 am

    Welcome to the Warriors London Sapolu!

  24. Garret July 7, 2009 5:55 am

    I thought that ST posted yesterday that Colt won’t be at the Kauai clinics…

    Miano said even professional players on leave have mandatory events to attend during the off-season, and Kaua‘i student athletes are lucky to have the benefit of being able to attend the three-day football clinic at no charge.

    Jett Jasper, a Kaua‘i High School graduate, was also helping the staff.

    “We’re between camps and this is a time we regenerate, but coach Miano asked if I could help,” Jasper said. “This is a nice way to give back to the island.”

    Assisting Hawai‘i head football coach Greg McMackin and Miano are associate head coach George Lumpkin, defensive coordinator Cal Lee, defensive line coach Dave Aranda, running back coach Brian Smith, offensive line coach Gordy Shaw, wide receiver coach Craig Stuzmann, linebacker coach Mike Smith, strength and conditioning coach Mel DeLaura, and Tuioti.

    Miano said former UH quarterback Colt Brennan is scheduled to be at both clinics Wednesday.

    RGM is returning kickoffs for the BC Lions. Their chief returner (the starting RB) will miss the game.

    Rookie Martell Mallett is expected to be the main ball-carrier on Friday at B.C. Place Stadium, while Ebell and receiver Ryan Grice-Mullen handle kick return duties.

  26. Garret July 7, 2009 6:07 am

    Several other football stadiums have now copied BSU and gotten blue turf.

    Boise State’s blue turf has its first collegiate competition – in West Haven, Conn.

    The University of New Haven finished installation of a new blue artificial turf inside Ralph F. DellaCamera Jr. Stadium last week.

    High schools in Barrow, Alaska; Hidalgo, Texas; and Lovington, N.M., play their football games on artificial blue surfaces.

  27. Garret July 7, 2009 6:10 am

    McNair bailed out his girlfriend after she got a DUI (he was in the car with her when she was ticketed)…then she illegally bought a gun a few hours later…the gun that was apparently used to killed both of them.

    Kazemi bought the semi-automatic pistol on Thursday evening from a person Metro police are not naming. She made the purchase just hours after she was bailed out of jail by McNair for a DUI charge. Both were found dead less than 48 hours later in a Second Avenue-area condo McNair rented just across the river from LP Field.

  28. Jay July 7, 2009 6:22 am

    Goodmorning Tsaikos!

    Great news on the Sapolu legacy. Can’t wait to watch the Colt interview today. Unfortunately, I can’t come up with any interesting questions for Colt.

  29. whitey July 7, 2009 6:23 am

    good morning tsaikos. again ST pulls one on us and gives us another commit.

  30. whitey July 7, 2009 6:27 am

    oh oh, now even Ferd is on the band wagon to push bivens out the door. bivens is stalling and trying to find support, but my arse is saying that she will be gone by this weekend.

    Aloha and welcome to the Warriors, London Sapolu.

  32. d1島 July 7, 2009 6:29 am

    Great Morning All!

    Hope the false labor episode proved that all preparations are sound.

    Great “bridge building” project with London Sapolu’s commit. Now that’s a stimulus project I can get behind!

    According to Garret it seems that inaction by the No Clue At All bunch may result in a Blue Flu Turf Pandemic. 👿

    Hey Rich2176!
    LAPD is on the lookout for scalpers but nothing said about parking entrepreneurs!

    Question for Bruddah Colt…

    Colt, good luck this pre-season and hope to see you slinging pigskin instead of Jason Campbell the rest of the year. What do you feel Coach Zorn is looking for out of you to allow you to take over and become the starter? It’s obvious Jason Campbell ain’t getting it done and I believe his days are numbered. You and Chase Daniels I feel are the future of the Redskins, just hope Coach Zorn realizes this!

  37. Annoddah Dave July 7, 2009 6:41 am

    ST & Tsaiko Blog Dogs,

    Question for CB: What will keep you grounded once you become an NFL Star? in other words…who or what will keep you humble and realistic.

  38. Pauoa Boy July 7, 2009 6:43 am

    Colt, when your football career is done, what do you think about running for Govenor of Hawaii?

    Also, I know Hawaii is in your heart…What is your favorite surf spot on the island? What is your favorite island style grinds?

    Also, thanks for representing the island style flavor by singing that Inner Circle song, chee huu!!!

  39. Pauoa Boy July 7, 2009 6:46 am

    Oh yeah one more for Bruddah Colt…

    When you come back to Hawaii for the Pro-Bowl with Davone…can you give us a shout out?

  40. whitey July 7, 2009 6:56 am

    No question for Colt, just wanted to say Mahalo for representing a place that your not even from there are alot of local players who don’t give back as much as you do it shows your True character we were lucky to have watched you play for the home team for 3 yrs mahalo Colt and even though you came here as a mainlander you will always and forever epitomize what the Aloha spirit is all about your one local braddah now.

  42. whitey July 7, 2009 7:04 am

    Colt question: from a qb’s perspective, what advise would you give to our warrior receivers about running routes, snagging/catching balls.

  43. Da Punchbowl Kid July 7, 2009 7:09 am

    Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂

    That’s excellent news about London. Let’s get that other son over here too. Ya can’t have too many Sapolus on the team!

    And to Braddah Colt-

  44. Kekoa July 7, 2009 7:17 am

    Good Morning Tsaiko Villagers!

    How Youuu!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Questions for Colt:
    Do you feel that coach Zorn has changed your throwing motion, or is it still pretty much your own style?
    Would you give a special shoutout to all the local boyz who are serving in the ‘Sandbox?’ Pauoa Boy, Frank25 and State Representative K. Takai are your biggest boosters!
    Mahalo Colt for all that you do for the State of Hawaii! You will always be our favorite son.
  45. al July 7, 2009 7:43 am
    yo colt….
    on your first official league game after your first touchdown pass, can you give us all a “shaka”?
    now, that you are entering your second season,
    what advice would you pass on to any nfl prospect as to what they need to do to be prepared for the season, combines, individual workouts, and interviews?
  46. al July 7, 2009 7:49 am
    colt
    getting a shot at the nfl is a rare opportunity. sometimes you gotta be in the right place at the right time. do you think that washington presents that opportunity for you or if nothing shakes for you soon with the redskins which teams would you like to explore the possibilities with?
    …..
    sometimes a great prospect falls through the cracks or wasn’t physically ready when it was time to “audition”.
    do you think that they should continue to pursue the dream by going cfl, arena, or other venues?
    …and how long should they keep it alive?
    Hope UH can recruit the younger Sapolu too!
    And, thanks to Jesse Sapolu for all his contributions to UH and the 49ers, our favoriate team ( me, Jason, Brew, etc ) – eat your heart out, Ralph!!!!!!!!
  54. Jack Flash July 7, 2009 9:19 am
    Colt-
    Sorry to bring up the past, but can you comment on what was going through your mind during that Sugar Bowl game? As a loyal fan, that one still stings. I was there, and it seemed to me that after the first couple of hits you took, you just couldn’t find your rhythm. Thanks again for all the wonderful memories you made here, and you will always have my loyal support!
    Colt,
    In going from college to the NFL, is the challenge for you greater because of more complex schemes by the defense or because of more athleticism and speed in the opponents you face? Or is it really a combination of better athletes allowing DC’s more freedom to throw more stuff at you?
  81. LizKauai [Unite and Conquer] July 7, 2009 10:48 am
    Colt!
    How do you keep a level head about you with the fame and fortune of being an NFL player? I bet lots of people suddenly want to be your “friend” and lots of “business proposals” probably coming your way.
    Too often you see young (and veteran) players lose it all because they don’t know how to deal with the money and noteriety.
  99. warriorfanny2 July 7, 2009 11:10 am
    During WWI its grassy fairways were flattened into grass runways for the single-engined Vickers biplanes of the No 1 School of Air Fighting and the hotel became an officers’ mess.
    The war memorial on the hill above the 12th green of the championship course commemorates those pilots who lost their lives.
    1938, at the outset of WWII the heavier British Beaufighters and American Liberators of the anti-U-boat Atlantic patrols needed runways that had foundations going down four feet, topped with a thick layer of concrete. Fairways and greens were ripped apart as bulldozers levelled the site and the hotel was converted to a military hospital.
    After the war it took 30,000 cubic yards of top soil before every inch of tees, fairways and greens were turfed and restored…..the runways were kept and the course redesigned around them to commerate the men and women who sacrificed and served….the Ailsa course, Turnberry, Ayrshire, Scotland, 7204 yards, Par 70….site of The OPEN.
    Hi Colt, welcome home!
    A few questions..
    Do you plan to visit any of the neighbor islands while you’re here?
    I think you should start your own blog. I bet it would get more hits than Cooley’s..lol, j/k Chris 🙂
    How’s your family doing? Say hello to them from us!
    Thank u for always representing Hawaii. Enjoy your time here and good luck in the preseason.
  101. Rob July 7, 2009 11:17 am
  102. KymryKauai July 7, 2009 11:17 am
    COLT: Aloha from Kauai!
    Just wanted to say mahalo for signing the personal message on the helmet at the Lymphoma Society Fundraiser last February. It was a great surprise for my husband Gary who as you know is fighting a 3rd bout with lymphoma. Thanks again…by the way, how did you like the cookies? Did you try them? 🙂
  103. Curt July 7, 2009 11:18 am
    Colt,
    Welcome home Colt. Can you contrast the differences between Coach Zorn and Coach Jones in terms of what they want you to do as a quarterback?
  104. Colomaohana July 7, 2009 11:19 am
    Howzit, gang!
    Prayers to you, gigi!!!
  105. Dirty Commish July 7, 2009 11:23 am
    I love how Colt still says “we” and “us” when he refers to UH football.
    For that, I forgive the Cowboys crack.
  106. (Jesse)James July 7, 2009 11:23 am
    Stretch….shameless promotion….LOL
  113. Dirty Commish July 7, 2009 11:41 am
    Can Colt donate some genetic material to the UH science department so we can clone him and have an endless supply of Colt Brennan’s from now until forever?
  114. Koamahu July 7, 2009 11:49 am
    Colt, do you have a significant other at the moment?
  115. Josh July 7, 2009 11:50 am
    Colt,
    Just wanted to say thanks again for signing the helmets and magazine and taking the picture with my daughter and me at PS Game Gear. By the way, I was the one that threw up the shaka in the parking lot in front of Bank of America. I looked up and told my wife, hey that’s Colt. I wanted to stop and chat with you, but I didn’t want to bother you. Good luck this year and I hope the knee is doing good.
    I need to add… that mug was given to ST who was supposed to deliver it to Colt. It was the first thing I noticed when watching the show.
    Note to self – don’t ask ST to be delivery boy.
    ST,
    Great interview with Colt today. He hasn’t changed a bit. I sure hope he gets his shot soon. He is better than Campbell.
    Good news on London Sapolu, also. Do you know why he can’t just transfer in the fall?
  147. LizKauai [Unite and Conquer] July 7, 2009 2:15 pm
    😮 = 😳
  148. Da Punchbowl Kid July 7, 2009 2:28 pm
    Nice interview with Colt today. He’s still the gracious and humble guy we all know and love. I can’t wait to see him in the pre-season.
  149. jeezy3 July 7, 2009 2:40 pm
    Stephen, why do you need to post false information? We all know Tennessee did not offer London. Lane Kiffin would not offer a 2 year guy who hasn’t played a down of Center yet in college a scholarship. Scott Eklund even reported it on jcfootball.com . Yes, its nice to report commits, but there is no need to hype every recruit like we just signed a BCS gem every school wanted. You know as well as every fan should know that Hawaii offered this guy early and Tennessee nor any other BCS program offered him yet.
  150. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 3:00 pm
    Jesse Sapolu and London Sapolu both said the kid was offered by Tennessee. I’m not one to disagree with Jesse.
  151. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 3:10 pm
    Judith Hill, a backup singer, was the one who sang “Heal the World” at today’s MJ memorial.
    In case anybody wondered.
  152. rayboyjr July 7, 2009 3:14 pm
    @jeezy3
    I just wanna know … How do you know this is false info? How do you know what Lane Kiffin would and would not do? What are your sources … credentials … besides reading it somewhere?
    Seems everyone is an expert …
    But I do trust Mr. Tsai…
  157. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 3:37 pm
    Oh, a lot of people know more than me.
    But both Sapolus said Tennessee, so I tend to agree.
    Jesse is a lot bigger than me.
  158. Momo July 7, 2009 3:45 pm
    Great show today… Colt is a winner and we are all proud of him. Good luck to next year and may we have our wish and see you on Sunday on the big screen…
  159. (Jesse)James July 7, 2009 3:45 pm
    Chawan…it closed….LOL
  160. kama krab July 7, 2009 3:51 pm
    Howzit Everybody,
    It’s great to hear that the Sapolu blood line will continue in Hawaii. And by the way, I would figure Stephen would gather contacts before reporting on any offers that was made to a person, so jeezy3 I hope you know that you just made yourself look like a fool calling Stephen out on his reporting. I think you might want to crawl back into your cave with your tale between your legs.
  161. labrat July 7, 2009 3:54 pm
    Did Tennessee want London as a center or a dlineman? To me schools go after the best athletes and place them in the position they feel will help them the most.
  162. kama krab July 7, 2009 3:55 pm
    Oh and I forgot,
    Since London has committed maybe he can get his younger brother Roman to commit to Hawaii also. Anything can happen.
  163. Bulla July 7, 2009 3:57 pm
    rumor that scott smith heading to Western Oregon?
  164. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 3:58 pm
    Roman is committed to one of the Oregon schools, I think, but it’s early. You never know.
    I can understand his comment because he’s being paid by the Redskins…he hates the Steelers too…so I guess we’re in good company. They always hate the people at the top!!! If only I could trade Romo for Colt…I would be soooooo happy!
  168. wafan July 7, 2009 4:14 pm
    Good interview with Colt.
  169. jm2375 July 7, 2009 4:15 pm
    Rob – #168 – I think I speak for me and Liz and other Redskins fans – da Cowgirls can’t have Colt, EVER!!
  170. A-House July 7, 2009 4:21 pm
    Rob25:
  171. wafan July 7, 2009 5:02 pm
    Uh-oh. No water here. Dang. I was a bit thirsty and now I am a whole lot more so.
    Time to dig out the coins from the couch for dinner.
  172. wafan July 7, 2009 5:07 pm
    I turn on the television and the commercial on was about how long it takes to make a glass of water.
    Grrrrrrrr. What timing. Tsigh.
  173. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 5:38 pm
    wafan:
    what is it? like 25 years or something? that’s why when they talk about water conversation, the problem occurred decades earlier.
    i haven’t been back home yet. still on the road workin’.
    soon though.
    RE: London Sapolu verbals to Hawaii
    Here’s the story I just posted on London…
    http://jcfootball.scout.com/2/877644.html
    He’s still going to look around a bit and he didn’t have an offer from Tennessee…per him…
    This guy talked to him personally and is a national publisher. Dont see why he would mis quote the recruit.
  176. Ralph July 7, 2009 6:38 pm
    need to be a subscriber to read the entire article, Jeezy3 can you post the entire article. no mention of Tennessee either way..Sapolu signs with Hawaii…please post…
  177. Ralph July 7, 2009 6:41 pm
    Dec 13 Raiders vs Redskins….
  178. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 6:48 pm
    jeezy3:
    Hey, all I can tell you is I spoke with Jesse Sapolu and London Sapolu last night. Both brought up Tennessee.I just asked my standard questions: height, weight, bench press, college offers.
    Both said London called the UH coaches yesterday to give a verbal commitment.
    That’s all I can tell you. I wasn’t involved in the conversations between the Sapolus and the schools.
    But I’ve known Jesse since our UH days, so I’m going to report what he says.
    I didn’t speak to the Tennessee coaches.
  179. Loa July 7, 2009 6:54 pm
    evening gang!
    when i first saw the story i thought it said son’s and i was thinking wow
    welcome to London!
  180. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 6:56 pm
    I think I’ve worked with Ecklund in the past. His number is in my Rolodex, but I can’t remember which player was involved.
    And, no, he wouldn’t misquote a player.
    I think he reported the information he received from his interview.
    I reported the information I received from my two separate interviews.
  181. Loa July 7, 2009 6:57 pm
    Stephen – congrats anytime now, went thru false labor couple times with the first one
  182. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 7:00 pm
    Roman Sapolu, I believe, gave a verbal commitment to Oregon State.
    He’s got a lot of upside because of his age.
    London said he has two years of eligibility, but there’s a question as to whether he has a redshirt year. Jesse said that London did some sort of church work — he wasn’t specific — that might allow him to be granted a third year at UH, although he stlll would be only eligible to play two seasons.
  183. Loa July 7, 2009 7:01 pm
    did i hear Scot them calling him Landon this morning?
  184. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 7:06 pm
    Loa:
    Yep, he did call him Landon.
    I thought that was funny since the story said he was named after the city.
    Then again, I give Scott credit for being up at that hour. He has a wife and two kids, plus he delivers papers in the early a.m. We both had a lot of caffeine this morning.
  185. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 7:08 pm
    I should have taken pictures of the 1420 offices.
    I guess they’ve got a bunch of radio stations working under one company. But the place is really nice — and huge.
    It’s probably one of the nicest studios/offices in town, although KHON’s is pretty impressive.
  186. Loa July 7, 2009 7:10 pm
    i figured someone would have called in to tell’em
    you guys sounded great together
    i liked to listen in when he had the afternoon show
  187. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 7:14 pm
    Loa:
    When I heard him say “Landon,” I was kind of worried that I misspelled his name.
    Because of the baby drama last night, things were pretty hectic. When I learned of the London Sapolu story, it was after 8:30. I had to file from the storage area in my house. The lighting wasn’t the best.
  188. oldie July 7, 2009 7:20 pm
    Piper’s Son,
    #58 – Sorry. I don’t have the Punahou- Kamehameha game. Actually, I’m getting the old games from Dim Sum. He has mostly UH games, football, basketball, volleyball, and a few baseball.
    How do you know Peggy?
  189. Curt July 7, 2009 7:55 pm
    ST,
    You and da Princess did a great job on Colt’s interview today. Really enjoyed watching/listening to it.
    Have you had a chance to see the 3 freshman QBs throw yet? If you have, what are your observations so far?
  190. Jason July 7, 2009 7:58 pm
    I just remembered, Colt mentioned in his interview today about how NFL teams often run the same stuff. I chuckled when he said that, because I read an article on that very topic earlier today:
    http://smartfootball.blogspot.com/2009/07/nfl-offense-what-is-it-why-does-every.html
  191. OCC July 7, 2009 8:06 pm
    The fact is London did receive his 1st offer from Tennessee; London played both offensive and defensive line in high school. I know the UH coaches were caught by surprise when Roman Sapolu (2010 class) verbally committed to Oregon State in early March, before they could make an offer. When London received the offer from Tennessee his Dad made sure his JC coaches reported to UH and UH made the offer the very next week. London is now a warrior and Roman has an offer on the table and those are the facts.
  192. Wotyobench? July 7, 2009 8:10 pm
    Dang look like Michael Carter be dining at Chilis for a long time now…
  193. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 8:22 pm
    I felt bad.
    I ate a full rack of ribs before Colt could finish his salad.
    And Kanoa and the Princess had to ask for take-out bags.
    So, yeah, I’m the glutton.
  194. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 8:22 pm
    But in my defense . . . I was hungry!!!
  195. Richie July 7, 2009 8:25 pm
    Scott Smith needs to spend a semester at KCC and then enroll at UH for the Spring. ST, I hope his mom will agree. A lot of his old Crusader teammates will be back and playing for the Warriors in 2010, including Jacob Barit and Geordean Hanohano, and maybe some others.
    Bulla, Mahalo for the video on the Beast and a special thanks for taking care of our friend in AZ.
  196. wafan July 7, 2009 8:32 pm
    Mr. Tsai . . .
    Well, according to the commercial it is 25 years. Years before the water fell that was not running tonight we were taught in school it took 30+ years.
    I wonder how they figured out it takes 25 years.
    Hi wafan!
    Glad all is well again.
    Liz . . .
    Well? Water?
    Watch out for the Artesians.
    Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
  204. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 8:49 pm
    25-30 years still is a long time .
    Now we have to check the rainfall for 1984.
  205. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 8:51 pm
    From the Pacific Disaster Center:
    Drought in Hawaii has been a recurrent and troublesome problem with rainfall totals reaching critically low levels. Severe droughts have occurred in Hawaii in 1983-1984, 1996, and the winters of 1997-2001. Moreover, the Maui County was designated a primary natural disaster area because of the drought from April-September in 2006. Deficient rainfall amounts also reduce crop yields, such as sugar cane, which is one of the major economic bases for the region. Prolonged periods of drought also reduce soil moisture and deplete groundwater supplies.
    I really enjoyed the WB show today–Colt was a great guest and the video/sound quality (aside from a few skips) was much better than before. Unfortunately, my computer shut down and wouldn’t restart (due to overheating, I never had this problem but it happened a couple of times recently).
    I’m watching the show again now to try to find the parts I missed earlier. Is it my imagination or is the video quality more grainy/pixelated than this afternoon?
    Okay I’m confused now is Scott Smith transfering to UH or is he gonna go the jc route? Whatever happened to BJ Beatty from Kahuku?
    Re-Thank you Colt for appearing on the Warrior Beat Show
    Another enjoyable show. With Colt appearing it elevated the show and, undoubtedly, it stirred up the viewer’s endorphins. I felt happy for Colt’s Redskins, his progress, his excitement and his love for Hawaii and the Warriors.
    It was during the show that I realized he talks and converses similarly the same way he plays football. On the field he’s a no-nonsense-lets-get-it-done-type-of person. On the field you see him playing with no flamboyancy or bravado. And he was never one to thump on his chest.
    In the interview he’s excitable, yes, but he’s very low key, humble, truthful and candid. In the interview there’s no showtime or show boat. This exactly mirrors his personality on the field. In fact, when he was seated between the co-host Leila and Stephen, it was like Colt has a built-in insect’s antennae as he was seemingly aware of his surroundings. His ready eyes would shift back and forth as he was answering and processing the questions. And I can sense a similarity on how when he’s quarterbacking he always shifting his eyes, keenly aware and his brain is always processing.
    To the posters that had your questions answered, I’d say you asked some killer question. Very good. And I think Colt enjoyed the interaction with his fans and the stimulation that the questions brought him.
    To Colt, I say, just uncork it this year. All the suppression of emotions and dreams that have been bottled up since you were a kid. Let it explode. Let it explode. Good luck, Colt. Best wishes.
    Is “washing my car” some kind of euphemism for…well u can guess it.
  217. ThomasMagnum July 7, 2009 9:43 pm
    No, it’s specifically “washing my Ferrari”. It’s one that I coined while picking up wahines at the King Kamehameha Club.
    Kama Krabb, Im really hiding in my cave. Answer this question for me. If you were the Head Coach for Tennessee, why would you offer a JC Center who played DT as a FR and accumulated 18 tackles all season? So he hasn’t played a down on the O line yet. Lane Kiffin just signed a top 10 recruiting class with 1 JC guy who was a Tennessee signee out of high school originally. Do I believe Sapolu is on the Vols radar? yes. Do I believe he was offered a scholarship during the summer time before season starts? yeah right. And Urban Meyer is knocking on the door too so Kiffin doesn’t beat him out for this guy. Not if you told me they offered Roman Sapolu who has 4 years left, then yeah I’d believe it.
  219. Ralph July 7, 2009 10:39 pm
    Jeezy3 post the article you read…don’t have a subscription to the site you posted to read the article..what they posted was a very short synopsis of the article and it did not mention anything you alluded to
  220. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2009 10:47 pm
    I think Kiffin is smart enough to want to establish recruiting ties in the Samoan community.
    He was the first to go after David Katina.
    Jesse Sapolu is big in the Samoan community. UH realizes the importance — and benefits — of recruiting the son of a prominent alumnus. Plus, London Sapolu is talented.
    garret…..i had those symptoms on my pc a couple of months ago. eventually my hard drive crashed beyond recognition and i had to replace it completely and therefore lost all files.
    i hope you been backing up your stuff.
  222. el guapo July 7, 2009 10:55 pm
    Why would anyone want to recruit London? He’ll probably turn out to be a bust, just like that kid USC took as a transfer from a I-AA school just because his father was Mosi Tatupu.
