Rocky road

The Warriors arrived in the Rocky Mountains this afternoon, and went straight to Boulder, Colo., where they had a walk-through at Folsom Field.

They were greeted by a special host — Ralphie, the Buffaloes’ buffalo.

After the team returned to the buses, the gates were closed, and Ralphie was allowed to roam Folsom Field.

cu4

After that, it was to the hotel in Westminster. The area is really nice. There’s a mall, movie complex and skating rink across the street.

UH head coach Greg McMackin also met with the television crew to go over the depth chart.

According to a poll at ralphiereport.com, 40 percent think the Buffaloes will suffer a “loss, as terror sets in,” and 22 percent think “a really bad loss and we find out who are interim HC will be.”

    from last post.

Ran into ST early last night at Sun Coast coffee shop after we finished our having dinner there. He was having dinner and also doing some work too. He said the team was leaving on flight this morning around 0800. Didn’t ask when he was leaving or how. Just assumed same time as the team since he hasn’t updated or posted new blog this morning.

Team is sked to walk thru at stadium late afternoon after hotel chk-in.

    Offense & defense are ready.

Wish I had gone top Palo Verde to watch the team practise this week.

This is Dan Hawkins’ 5th year as head coach at Colorado and his *first* game against a WAC school since he left BSU.

Hawkins should feel right at home this week, as in Hawaii he faces a team from his old conference for the first time since he left the Western Athletic Conference.

As USC learned, Bryant Moniz, Greg Salas and Kealoha Pilares form an explosive offense. It will be too much for Colorado to handle.

I lived in Westminster 3 years ago. Perfect location. Great views. ST, make sure you visit Noodles & Co while you’re in the Boulder/Denver area. Also, visit Lodo’s in Westminster off of 104th and Federal (ironically across from Noodles & Co). There’s also lots of good Indian food in the Northern suburbs of Denver.

Known Tsai-kos in the area for the game: A-House ohana, Curt & Meg, the Stretch gang, Committed Road Warrior, chawan-cut, and probably WarriorMojo tomorrow.

Am reminded of the away game 3 years ago when our camera shy WarriorMojo was waving to everyone from the aisle and no one responded. Didn’t know what he looked like. A lot of road games and karaoke calls have remedied that. 🙂

  51. al September 17, 2010 11:29 am

thinking out loud…won’t be surprised if we end running the ball two to three times more against the buffs. we should be able to pass as happy as we have been, but, to tone down the blitz by cu we’ll probably want to show run more often early in the game.

the other reason for us to run more is to take more time off of the clock, thus, giving the defense more time on the sidelines which will be critical in the fourth quarter.

finally, i won’t be surprised to see a wildcat formation featuring a certain backup qb if need be.

  52. al September 17, 2010 11:30 am

I hope Alex Green and Chizzy Dimude are ready for there number to be called everyone knows Hawaii can throw but I hope we develop a run game like we did in the USC game to keep um Honest. Green got that burst and dimude got that shiftiness. Go Warriors play hard all 4 quarters an limit your mistakes this is the “BIG-12” you know the supposedly “Superior Conference” Show um boys.

An I wonder if Colt will be watching the game.

Pomai – what is a good E-mail for you?

  66. Not an Expert September 17, 2010 1:23 pm

Okole Maluna #187 Good concept and something similar I thought about over the last year. If I may expand on the idea.

First the goals behind these non AQ schools to form a coalition and create their own identity and playoffs (bowl games) is to believe that they can control and give all non AQ schools the opportunity to have more dollars to help support their sports program. If the bigger non AQ schools don’t mind helping their lesser coharts this idea can become a reality. A base payout formula to each school and conference. On top of that a bonus structure to each school and conference on how they performed not only on the field but in class.

There are about 45 to 50 schools who will fall in the non AQ status which could create 6 conferences wth an average of 8 per. All schools play against their conference members (7), play against 3 other conference members, 1 AQ team, & 1 division 2A. Total of 12 games.

The top 4 conference champions to play for the title. Semifinal and Championship game.

There are 6 champions but how to determine the top 4? Base it on conference record and out of conference record among the 6 champions. Any ties at that point will be determined on the amount of wins by their own conference members against other conference members. If still a tie based on graduation rate of the team.

In addition up to the fourth place team, each team to play against another conference team that finished in the same order. Thus each team participating in the playoffs receives a bonus and the total wins by the overall conference will determine the bonus to the conference. This will create conference loyalty for fans to back not only their school but schools in their conference.

Bottom line is, AQ schools makes it so that they make the rules and pay scale. Thus if they try to control their membership and don’t want others to benefit, the non AQ schools need to take the attitude that we can create interest and growth by doing our own thing and not be at the mercy of the AQ schools.

  70. Pomai September 17, 2010 1:49 pm

Not an expert, what about 4, 12 team conference with a playoff East, West, North and South. Same kind of scheduling.

  71. Pomai September 17, 2010 1:57 pm

Steve, not long actually, I didn’t even know UH had a softball team until 2007, when ST put on the blog that the school didn’t have any money to buy the Wahine a award for winning the WAC, I was back in WV at the time, at the time I showed my beautiful wife the article and said boy that sucks, those girls wen bust their butts and get nothing for it, so my wife gave me her standard answer “SO WOT YOU GOIN DO BOUT IT” and the rest is history.

    Thanks for the shout out!

I arrived in Colorado earlier today, and am staying in Louisville for the weekend. About 15 minute drive to Boulder in the morning, assuming traffic isn’t that bad.

I almost left the game tickets at home. Luckily I realized it while I was still at work (I put in a half-day before flying out) and was able to go home and get them. Doing that meant I had to leave my car at the airport (and rack up beaucoup parking fees), instead of taking the train like I wanted to. Nonetheless, I have everything I need for this trip, tickets included.

Hope to see some familiar faces tomorrow!

Noticed that Ralphie’s trailer has the outback steakhouse logo on it, that seem appropriate seeing how we are going to grind them to hamburger.

  112. AlaWaiPipeLayer September 17, 2010 4:28 pm

How come Ralphie’s sponsor is Outback Steak House. Check the menu in CO. Must be an omen!

  113. Kazz (click to support UH softball) September 17, 2010 4:29 pm

Lots of flattering things coming out of that Ralphie report site. I believe even one writer went as far to say that Bryant Moniz is the most, if not, one of the most impressive QBs this season in all of the NCAA.

Sounds like Colorado fans or supporters trying to soften or justify the blow should our Warriors defeat them.

We will need to both put some pressure on Moniz, to take some air out of the Hawaii Offense, and keep an eye on him because of his running abilities. But fortunately, he’s really their only running threat.

  131. NYUH September 17, 2010 5:14 pm

So anyway I thought Alex and Chizzy got dissed in that last article.

Nevada looking better awesome against Cal. 21-14 doesn’t quite tell the story a fumble setup Cal’s last TD.

    Re: #127

d1島 — agreed, and he will make the Tsai-ko Hall of Fame as “Road Warrior”. Someone should do a TV special on him. Two memorable jaunts…

    (1) Fly from Washington D.C. to SFO on game day, drive to SJSU in time for the game, thanks Stretch for letting him use his hotel room shower after the game, then drives back to SFO to catch a early flight back across country.

    (2) Drives at least 12 hours to the Fresno game (before moving to D.C.) on game day, and drives back home overnight after the game.

  135. d1島 September 17, 2010 5:20 pm

  141. Derek September 17, 2010 5:48 pm

I feel good about Nevada. After Colin Kaepernick and Vai Taua leave after this season, Nevada will go back to just being a team that is a cup cake. Kaepernick has been there for 4 years. It feels like an eternity. But soon, he’ll be gone. I think he brings a lot to the table at the next level. The guy is 6’5″ or 6’6″, lean, long, and he’s fast. I’ve never seen him get hurt. He runs out of bounds and doesn’t get hit easily. And, he’s improved his passing. Tim Tebow? Heck, I think Kaepernick is a better athlete and his speed is very, very deceptive. Leadership? I have to go with Tebow.

Looking forward to watching the UH-Nevada game at Aloha Stadium in about 1 month. We’ve beaten Nevada 3 of the last 4 years so that’s a good omen.

P.S. Rolovich’s theory: “If we score a touchdown on very possession, we can’t lose a football game.”

    Rhetorical question.

  144. Steve September 17, 2010 5:56 pm

#143 Maybe it is not bison meat they are serving in his restaurants.

  155. madeinhawaii September 17, 2010 6:17 pm

Today some populations of bison are managed as livestock because they have become a food source for humans. Bison are a source of high-protein, low-fat, low-cholesterol meat. The National Bison Association estimates that 150,000 bison are slaughtered for food each year, producing 7.5 million pounds of meat. Bison meat is not expected to replace beef, but some people think it might become an alternative red meat source. In Bring Back the Buffalo! (Washington, DC: Island Press, 1996), researcher and writer Ernest Callenbach argues that bison will gradually gain support as a food source, as it becomes evident that bison are better adapted to grasslands and require much less human management than cattle. There are even bison ranchers abroad, including in Canada, Southern France, Switzerland, and Belgium.

By the end of the twentieth century, the National Bison Association reported a total of over 350,000 bison in the 48 continental United States, Alaska, and Canada—344,000 bison were privately owned, and 13,000 lived in public herds. An additional 1,000 lived in zoos or outside of the United States and Canada.

Steve, are you bipolar? You pretty much crapped out, trolled over, and turned the Volleyshots blog into a circus. With your comments and downright hatred you have for the setting of Dani Mafua are almost stalkerish. I feel sorry for you because you because it seems you are dealing with some major personal issues.

Get this point very clear Steve. Most people have no problem with opinions because we all have our own. Your words, your tone, and your hateful comments that you have regarding a student athlete are totally out of bounds.

If lurkers here don’t know what I am talking about go over to the VB blog and click on any date. Steve is blog clown there.

…and then you come here and you conduct yourself as any normal fan.

I lurk a lot and I do not post much but the Volleyshots blog has turned into a high school myspace/facebook troll war because of Steve.

When the times get rough for our football team I hope he does not turn this blog into what CL’s blog has turned into.

Watching the Cal/Nevada game and looking up where I can park in Boulder for tomorrow’s game.

Looks like on-campus parking is gonna be a bit difficult to find, unless I show up at 10am. Will probably look off-campus, even if it means a bit longer walk to/from the stadium.

  160. Hawaiianbod September 17, 2010 6:51 pm

You can get ground Bison at Safeway. It’s a good seller as they usually run out (no pun intended).

It cost more than ground beef, but it’s much more healtheir.

I like the taste of it.

Is anybody besides me savoring Tsai’s line that Ralphie is allowed to “roam” free on the field?

Ya know, like the song? 😆

  165. Ipu Man September 17, 2010 7:08 pm

ESPN shows why Michigan QB runs away from equally fast

pursuers because of his “wide” stride. Probably the same

for Nevada’s Kaepernick. Long strides cover more ground.

Wonder if Moniz’s legs do that, too…

  166. Koa-mahu September 17, 2010 7:14 pm

Wow, Hawaii just romps over BYU volleyball. What happened to BYWho. Anytime we beat BYWho in anything is good but tonight I kinda felt sorry for them…………….NOT!!!!!!!!!!!.

  194. duffer September 17, 2010 8:36 pm

Well the Wahines made that look easy. 🙂

  195. duffer September 17, 2010 8:38 pm

Anyone planning on attending the Wahine BB team opener?

  196. oldie September 17, 2010 9:16 pm

Wafan, Ronnie – Glad you got the DVD. Pretty quick snail mail service.

I hope the Warriors give me a reason to make a DVD of the Colorado game.

    Duffer:

#195 Who is the Wahine BB team playing in the openner?

  198. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc September 17, 2010 10:22 pm

Another HI-5 Drive at the September 25 T-Gate. This time, the money goes to the Wahine volleyball team summer School scholarships.

We got to our seats at The Stan just as the first serve in the first set cleared the net and was walking out the door by 8:25 – it was a painful match to watch.

We need to play more St. Marys if we have any expectation of surviving past the WAC

  199. jm2375 September 17, 2010 10:29 pm

    Howzit Tsai-kos!!

Wuz one ugly match, but the rest of the regular season is gonna be the same. 😀

WDoc – I should introduce you to my friend who is the Program Director for Malama Learning Center. Think you guys would have common interests.

  200. madeinhawaii September 17, 2010 10:59 pm

Whoa.. Nevada walked all over Cal… Cal had more yards but they didin’t reach the goal line enough times. Nevada is one tough cookie this season… In fact, the WAC looks strong this season.. Too bad they decided to depart, based on this year’s teams they may have still been able to negotiate for a solid ESPN package even with Boise’s departure.

He gets the wonderful unwashed plenty belonging on the US believing that they’re going to all get no price tag health care. I have an acquaintance that performs in a properly getting business plus the working day shortly soon after this shithole expenses surpassed they ended up being lined up out your gate to get their insurance plan playing cards. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  208. RainbowCliff September 18, 2010 3:51 am

    Good morning Michigan Warrior !

Glad to see that a DEVOTED fan like your self from the motor city

can give his loyalty to Hawaii as being surrounded by so MANY Wolverines

    and Spartan fans !

What is the weather like this fall season in Michigan as Los Angeles is

    cooling down ?

I am all ready for the Harbor College Fair as a GOOD night sleep has got me

showered and dressed in my LWC Hawaii polo shirt with UH materials in tote

to my table as I am FOCUS to bring 150 freshmen and Junior College Transfer

students to Manoa Valley as my solo day has arrived on a clear cool Saturday

    morning !

My Hawaii table will be next to Notre Dame as the fighting irish will see and feel

the Rainbow Warrior as over 100 colleges will be there in representation. Good

luck to the Warriors today in Colorado as they have a booth 5 tables down from me

as it will be REALLY interesting to find out their support to their football team or are

    they just educational alumni only.

    IMUA WARRIORS !

  249. Shandra Dile September 22, 2010 11:15 am

… This information is really good and I will say will always be helpful if we try it risk free.. So if you can back it up !! That will really help us all. And this might bring some good repute to you. The diet of human beings prior to the arrival of agriculture, technology and civilization is known as the Paleolithic Diet ? This Stone Age diet, in short, consisted of mainly lean red meat and vegetables. In this type of diet animal meat is consumed in large quantities and 45 to 65% of the energy needed by the body is derived from it. Over and over again, life expectancy studies related to diet, including by the World Health Organization (WHO), have concluded that Americans and Europeans would do better to eat more like third world peoples as the options provided by their additional wealth have most often lead to poor nutritional choices. This is the same basis for the USDA based their popular food pyramid in 1992 ! Researchers at Harvard have only suggested perhaps tweaking the food pyramid by replacing some dairy products and read meat with more fruits, vegetables, and fish while also emphasizing the importance of improving the ratio of “good” to “bad” cholesterol, Plus, exercise not only makes weight loss much easier, but also lowers blood glucose levels, decreases blood pressure, improved circulation, and increases one’s metabolism. Good regular sleep patterns are also just as important. Diets based on USDA recommendations include DASH, American Diabetic Assoc, Weight Watchers, and Jenny Craig, When children understand how important “real food” is and where the natural ingredients of our food come from, they will increase the general population’s appreciation for preserving our natural environment and limiting toxins and polluting processes in our world. We may even trend back to the time when people stepped outside their homes to interact with family and neighbors in home and community gardens and block-party barbeques… Does anybody even remember how nice those days were?

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

It all depends on where the convention is. Of it’s in Japan, yes, a majority of people will be speaking Japanese. If it’s in France, they’ll be speaking French. No, I don’t think that it will be English subbed/dubbed mainly because most of the people at the convention will be coming from the country that it’s in, so they don’t feel a need to dub/sub it because most of the people are from that country, and the people that aren’t, they assume know how to speak the language.

Chemical engineers design processes to ensure the most economical work. This means that the entire producing chain needs to be planned and controlled for costs. A chemical engineer can both simplify and complicate showcase reactions for an economic benefit. Utilizing a higher pressure or temperature makes several reactions simpler; ammonia, for example, is easily produced from the making up elements in a high-pressure reactor. On the other hand, reactions with a low yield can be recycled continuously, which would be hard, hard work if done manually in the laboratory. It isn’t unusual to build 6-step or even twelve-step evaporators to reuse the vaporization energy for an economic advantage. In contrast, lab chemists evaporate things in just one step. Adventurism

How the Ab Circle Pro Is supposed To Work The Ab Circle is supposed to give you an abs workout and a cardio workout at the same time. It does so because of the position you take with your hands and knees supporting you and the motion you do from side to side on the machine in a gliding motion. It’s supposed to be better for the knees and back. The Ab Circle comes with a workout Program and a nutritional guide. The suggestion of the infomercial is that you will lose belly fat and inches off your waist by doing very short workouts on this machine. In my experience I would say the ab circle pro is a great machine that has given me amazing results. As long as you follow a reasonable diet.

Greetings! I discovered your site by chance this evening, but am quite pleased that I did! Not only is it appealing, but also uncomplicated to use as opposed to lots that I’ve found! I was trying to discover what theme you had employed, – anyone have any idea? I’ve utilized a similar overall format myself, but notice that your website loads a lot more rapidly, although you seem to have a lot a lot more material. The only dilemma I’ve had is with the header, which appears less wide that the actual page in Opera v8.0, though it appears OK in IE and in firefox… maybe it’s time to swap! Excellent internet site, extremely tidy job, and a fantastic inspiration for my humble try! I’ll be looking to improve my own internet site and will surely stop by again soon!

My answer is, who cares. Both have no relevance or importance. Personally, I stopped watching the news 10 years ago. I read the paper everyday as then I skip what I could care less about and the next days paper is always full of new and more important events.

  447. perlengkapan bayi October 12, 2010 3:47 am

American would buy American made cars if the American car companies made cars we wanted. What is the matter with GM? It has been obvious for years that Americans wanted cars like Hondas and Toyotas, yet the big 3 continue to build junk. They deserve to fail.

Tup Tup, don’t agree with a teabagger and you are called a liberal, if you really knew me, you would know that I am far from being liberal. I believe in working hard, less taxes, less government spending just as much as you but where I differ, is that I feel this whole teabag movement is a fraud because if you guys were really about less government spending you would also include defense spending, we do not need army bases in just about every country you could think of, do you teabaggers ever think about how much money that is costing us? Steak and Eggs Your hero Sarah Palin is already talking about Iran as WWIII, how many trillions will that add to the deficit, this is why I think you guys are frauds, there is not way you can be for cutting the deficit and have our military bleed money the way it is.
