Even though the calendar shows “Wednesday,” it was “Game Week Tuesday” for the Warriors today.

There were position meetings for about an hour, followed by a one-hour practice. The Warriors worked on defensive schemes, as well as one-on-one blocking on kickoff return drills.

samp

Head coach Greg McMackin excused players who were taking final exams or finishing papers. The two starting slotbacks, Greg Salas and Kealoha Pilares, were both absent. Salas is set to graduate Saturday.

McMackin said the Warriors will have enough preparation time for the Dec. 24 Hawaii Bowl. He said he will impose an 11:30 p.m. curfew starting Sunday.

“We’re going on a business trip to Waikiki,” McMackin said.

I’m a little worried with the lack of practices. Please Mack & Co. have the boys prepared and ready to go against Tulsa. This game is crucial for a lot of reasons! Please don’t take Tulsa lightly!

Good luck on your finals Warriors! Hurry up so you can get down to business!

    Go Warriors!

Damaris Johnson became Tulsa’s third Associated Press All-America pick since 1993 on Tuesday.

The junior wide receiver/punt returner/kick returner was named an AP second-team selection as an all-purpose performer.

Is Mack a procrastinator?? He knows he has 21 days to get in 15 practices. He chooses to cut the number of practices down to 9 in 11 days. Now he cancels 2 practices due to finals. How can he not know that the players had finals?? He is down to 7 practices and it’s not even the full team for a day or two. If the rains come like is forecasted later in the week, they lose out more field time. Once they check into the hotel, practices are not going to be the same. He is losing out on valuable preparation time for Tulsa, and more importantly what all the coaches love to say, “time to get the young guys ready for next season.”

I don’t want to second guess the coaches decisions, but this really scares me. I don’t care what Mack says to the public, they better not be taking Tulsa lightly. All the team’s accomplishments this past season will be forgotten if they get embarrassed on national tv.

  14. RainbowCliff December 15, 2010 6:47 am

Now that I have an early blog entry here is the latest LA info in support

to the Team: My good Tsaiko kamikaze friend “Hawstlin” is throwing a Warrior

lua in Irvine on the 24th to watch and cheer the Warriors in the Hawaii bowl

versus Tulsa. The Hawaii bowl party will be at the Da Luau in Irvine and we need

at least 10 to start the huki lau jumping as I and Mrs. Rainbow Cliff are THERE as

I hope many more Southern Cal Hawaii alums, fans, neighbors or supporters will

    join us !

It is going to be “off the hook” as Hawstlin with his “prime time” connections has got us a Great Hawaiian restaurant with good ono food to buy with two LARGE TV screens mounted

on their walls as 35 Southern California Warrior Fans can watch the game in GREAT home

    grown company !

Da Luau has offered us to bring our own “BEVERAGES” so a CASE of Heineken is coming from me with my boy Brad Pineau throwing in the yellow tail kangaroo wine all the way from Australia so we can really bring in the Christmas spirit !

Will have digital camera ready to take some GREAT photo shots as ALL is needed is for Southern California Hawaii Warrior fans just to come and SHOW up to the Super Hawaii Bowl

Calf Call of the YEAR !

Leave a post here on the blog that you are coming and I will get it back to Hawstlin as it will be WONDERFUL to have this celebration all together as Da Luau is ready and able to give us the place and space with good Hawaiian food !

So Garret, Ronnie, Rich 2176, Long Beach and my main squeeze “poly mom” will LOVE to

see you there as I will be bringing the SPIRITS as Rich you can tee off this time with a CASE that will be ice and cold for you and ALL who love to drink and be MERRY !

5:00 pm time in IRVINE so “lets book em Dano” !

  15. Oldtimer808 December 15, 2010 6:55 am

Stretch get a life. Academics come first and the coaches have it under control unless you follow them and attend all their meetings and planning sessions. Coach Mack would be BS if he did not back up his word concerning academics to his players. There are more important things in life to be concerned with than Tulsa. The players know what the deal is and the players are prepared.

  16. bighilofan2 December 15, 2010 6:55 am

I don’t want to second guess the coaches decisions, but this really scares me. I don’t care what Mack says to the public, they better not be taking Tulsa lightly. All the team’s accomplishments this past season will be forgotten if they get embarrassed on national tv.

Amen to dat one, Stretch. Amen. Amen. Amen.

no get me wrong. da coaches are doing GREAT!!! Henderson. check. Doe. check. Davis. check. Gregory. check. These are top notch recruits. and they’re commitments to Warrior Nation means they believe dat they future is being looked after by the coaches. so thats a reallll good sign.

#15 – Take it easy…. This has nothing to do with academics. I think Mack could have planned out the practice time better. And my main point was All the team’s accomplishments this past season will be forgotten if they get embarrassed on national tv. Trust me, I hope I am wrong, but you can’t fault me for being worried. #13 and #16 are right. If the UH warriors don’t get enough practices in, they may get embarrassed the way a so so Notre Dame did to them in the 2008 Hawaii Bowl. Tulsa is way better than that 2008 fighting Irish team. Another embarrassing loss against Tulsa on national TV may harm any chances of recruiting the players they want and will take them out of the top 25 rankings.

    Can you clarify ?

  31. bighilofan2 December 15, 2010 7:18 am

okay Coach. I know you listen. I know you got our best interests at heart. I know you got the Warriors’ best interests at heart, individually. yes I know that. yes I do.

Stretch is right. Our fearless leader (dat be you) must man up and give us da confidence to BELIEVE that you’ve got it all under control.

I going remind Stretch of the way the players believe in you and the other coaches, and the other coaches are acting like they’re showing you alot of respect.

so keep it going, coach. Walk da talk. “We’re gonna kick dare a$$.” wen you talk like dat, and act like dats wat we’re gonna do, den fo me all is well in Warrior Nation.

stop cutting classes, coach. stop cutting class.

Who says they are not prepared?

What are the consequences for academic mediocrity or failure?

The Warriors have given this year their all.

    Nothing is changing.

    Balance.

Success in the grand scheme of things.

    GO WARRIORS,

I also wonder about this practice or rather non-practice. As someone mentioned why not hold night practice, 7 to 10 then hit the rack. Even more than the perfecting the play I worry about the conditioning, as there where times that I could see us running outa gas during the fourth. How about two a days for the last week. We can’t afford to lose this game

  39. LizKauai -iPad December 15, 2010 7:24 am

  41. RupertDaStupert December 15, 2010 7:28 am

#30, I don’t know what to say. That Hawaii Bowl Notre Dame team with a 6-6 win loss record was even thinking not going to a bowl game if invited, but coach weis and players overwhelmingly voted to go. Notre Dame pride usually prevents them from accepting a bowl bid with a mediocre record. I think then coach Weis was thinking more about recruiting Mantai Teo. That was a mediocre Irish team and Hawaii wasn’t better prepared for them. This Tulsa team won its last 6 games and is no overrated team. They are for real. Forget they were once a WAC member. This is a strong team, maybe the strongest UH faced this year with the exception of Boise State. I would say USC but USC was beatable if Hawaii kept its composure. Colorado loss was a abberation. They should have beat Colorado.

  43. Slugger December 15, 2010 7:41 am

    Good morning!

Be positive…think winning…I know the team is…They ARE students and once they get finals out of the way, they will be putting 110% of their attention on the game. But they need to pass their finals to keep playing. Failing class = NO Playing time…

So, calm down, and as LizKauai says, send positive prayers and thoughts their way.

    K, I’m late to practice…gotta go… 🙂

  44. Stretch December 15, 2010 7:44 am

#40 al – I hope you are right. I don’t mind taking criticism for being an “alarmist” if I am wrong and Hawaii kicks Tulsa okole.

The other part of not practicing is all I hear from the coaches during the season is the “valuable practice time” that going to a bowl game gives the young guys.

  45. Pomai December 15, 2010 7:45 am

#35 Liz – there is no such thing in footabll, you can never get too much practice, just as Bess did with the jugs, to get better you keep doing it over and over.

  46. pakegolf December 15, 2010 7:46 am

#13, #16, #26 not to worry. This team is special and will prevail. Their teamwork and team spirit (and I emphasize TEAM) will shine through even without a few days to pass classes and heal wounds. GO WARRIORS.

  47. tommui December 15, 2010 7:49 am

    GOOD MORNING HAWAII!

Warriors – pass your tests – both academically and on the field!

    I going Tell Ma!

  48. quava December 15, 2010 7:51 am

It’s not the amount of practices, it’s the quality of time.

Nobody wan’ts to win more than the players and coaches. They have proven this year the ability to adjust to many circumstances. You guys need to stop micro managing this team and get your nosey nose’s out their practice schedule and routines.

  49. RupertDaStupert December 15, 2010 7:53 am

I’m positive don’t get me wrong. I believe classes come first and passing your grades. A college degree is more important. You can’t play football all your life. But a college degree will help get you a good job in these economic bad times. I believe these players are too smart and too classy to let this one slip. But just before going to battle in Vietnam many times, one can’t help worry. As Audie Murphy said many times (the most decorated soldier of ww2) “anyone who says he ain’t scared going into battle is a liar, I’m scared all the time”. I’m a human being with human frailties. I couldn’t help worrying going to battle in Vietnam and I can’t help worrying our UH Warriors versus Tulsa. I would be a liar. But I got all the confidence our players are smart enough not to get ambushed by Tulsa. Our coaches are smart enough to prepare them well.

  57. Buffoman December 15, 2010 8:13 am

I’m with stretch. I have human frailities and am worried. I mentioned it several blogs back where my biggest concern was not being ready for a BIG televised game.

Yes they need to do well in the classroom but there can be, in my opinion, and maybe its being done, time for individuals to get ready physically.

We’ve seen how gassed our boys got when people ran the no huddle, “Oregon offense” against us. We know that Tulsa runs a very fast no huddle offense.

So, that being said, have our leaders (coaches and seniors) taken it upon themselves to prepare the team for this. I mean, in between studying for finals, are the guys doing extensive cardio work, winds sprints, gassers and the like to prepare for what’s coming?

Believe me, a few days of running will not prepare anyone for the physically taxing experiene of what an efficient hurry up offense can do (saw California when they played Oregon and our local boy got “hurt”).

If someone told me that this was going on in the interim, I may be less worried. But not hearing anything, has me, like stretch, worried. If a hurry up gets the better of a team, it can get real ugly real quick and it just does not get better over the course of the game.

  58. Da Punchbowl Kid December 15, 2010 8:13 am

Let’s hear it for da girls! Good for you Kanani, Brittany, & Dani! 🙂

  61. let'em do his job December 15, 2010 8:19 am

What’s more embarrassing than losing to Tulsa? Bombing a final because you weren’t given enough time to study. These STUDENT-athletes need to focus on schoolwork first, football second. How many of them will rely on football for income post college? 1%? 2%? I love the Warriors, but if they win against Tulsa and players fail in school…that’s a losing proposition to me. Whatever Coach Mack needs to do to balance their academics with getting ready for the game, I’ll let him decide. You think you know better, then apply for the job next time around. Or go down to campus and ask Coach Mack yourself in person. Don’t chicken crap it on a blog.

  62. Bryson December 15, 2010 8:19 am

I don’t know why everyone is so concerned with the amount of practices…throughout the regular season they only get 3 practices and a walkthrough to get prepared for games…Have faith after all they’ve accomplished this season I still can’t believe people still choose to second guess Mack’s decisions…Student-Athletes let’s remember the Student part comes first…imagine if they held practices and god forbid players ending up failing their final how would it help the team if we had players ineligible to play in the bowl game cause of that…

  63. Pomai December 15, 2010 8:21 am

    # 57 – Buffoman – “Believe me, a few days of running will not prepare anyone for the physically taxing experiene of what an efficient hurry up offense can do”

    Agree 100%

  64. gigi-hawaii December 15, 2010 8:26 am

    Stretch,

I agree with Liz. If some of the players don’t pass their courses, they won’t be allowed to play at all.

So, focus focus focus on your studies, guys!

  65. Okole Maluna December 15, 2010 8:27 am

Remeber during JJ Era, Timmy Chang had an Incomplete in class assignment and wasn’t suppose to play in Hawaii Bowl? If NCAA heard of this it will be ‘BUSH Case’ all over the place.

Please ‘Warriors’ complete your studies first, your classes is the first priority and the reason you’re enrolled in school at UH.

Coaches know what they’re doing that’s how they got to this point.

Rest of us Relax and Enjoy the Holiday’s and the Game!

    Okole Maluna! and Go Warriors!

  66. Pomai December 15, 2010 8:27 am

I think the reason a lot of us are worried about this is 1. Tulsa is a very good team that runs the no huddle which we have had problems with throughout the season. 2. This game is just about winning, this game is a pivotal point in our future for the next 5 to 10 years. For the last 10 years one of the things a lot of us said “we need to get to the next level” well in fact we were close but didn’t get there, IMHO we are at the gate knocking once again and it hinges on this game.

  67. Okole Maluna December 15, 2010 8:30 am

It will be a busy week for all of us with Diamond Head Classic and Hawaii Bowl.

I’m taking a vacation for the week! and enjoy the holiday and the GAME!

  68. Pomai December 15, 2010 8:30 am

Don’t get me wrong but studies do come first, but they have been doing both all season???

  69. Okole Maluna December 15, 2010 8:34 am

    I posted late yesterday but…

ESPN BOWL Mania Show picked UH – Tulsa Game as No. ONE most confident game of all the Bowl game for UH to WIN over Tulsa.

So, you Betters here’s your chance to recoup your losses for the year!

But Don’t bet On it… you might jinx it… lol

  70. RupertDaStupert December 15, 2010 8:35 am

Mark Dacascos as Wo Fat made his debut on Five-O. Would like to see more of Will Yun Lee as Sang Ming, a superb actor. And I can’t google the name of the actor who plays Waiola shave ice man. There are real Waiola shave ice stores. One on McCully and another on Kapahulu. The one in Five-O was acturally at Ala Moana park but it was a one day set, not a real Waiola shave ice. If I was a billionaire, I would donate $150 million to UH to build a new 90,000 seat state of the art stadium. Where though? At the old isenberg site? Must be close to metropolitan Honolulu though so all the old folks like me can easily access it. Town is too congested I know with lack of parking but would draw crowds unlike Halawa location. Can’t have your cake and eat it too.

  71. hawaiiansun December 15, 2010 8:36 am

    Players play, fans cheer.

Wishing doesnt produce timing and execution on the field–practice and abundant repetition does.

Less than 8-practice sessions in 21 days is not a positive sign to invoke confidence….

perhaps, arrogance. Even those eight-practices will not be at full tilt. Meanwhile, Tulsa has been banging away at practice like the season never ended.

We were casual in our ‘ 07 Sugar Bowl approach despite being underdogs and distracted in ’08 against ND.

Tulsa is a better team than Fresno State and close to Nevada in effect. This team beat ND who turned around to defeat Utah, Army and USC.

Tulsa finished the season with a six-game win streak, including four-teams that are headed for post-season bowls. The last arrogant WAC team to go into the Hawaii Bowl against a CUSA team got smacked down. Yeah…there is mucho cause to be concerned…

#68 – Yes. But finals are much more intense than regular studies during the semester. Plus, I’m sure some big projects were put off during the season, knowing they’d have more time to do them once the regular season was over. Also, remember that some of the players have families to tend to as well. Out of everything, football is the least of the priorities.

  73. Okole Maluna December 15, 2010 8:38 am

Pomai: they have been doing both all season??? Yes, Yes, and Yes…

But the reality is some don’t and need extra help like most of us.

The Coach knows some of the starter need extra study days more than practice on the field.

Trust them and Cheer for them to do well.

    That’s all we can do…

68#:Thats true they have been doing this all season but finals are a different beast to prepare for cause now you need to remember everything you’ve learned from the start of the semester to the end of the semester…One thing people aren’t mentioning is we’ve had trouble against no-huddle offenses on the road….Tulsa comes into Aloha Stadium we’ll see how long their no-huddle last when it’s mid afternoon on a hot sunny christmas eve day add in the humidity I expect to see alot of Tulsa players cramping up throughout the game…

At today’s labor rate, sorry to say but that $150 million would get you maybe a 15k seating capacity. Don’t want to sound mean, but the cost to do a 90k seating capacity, state of the art facility, all soft costs included, with adequate parking would run at least $800 million to $1 billion to do in Hawaii.

I may be a bit high, but I don’t think by much. It’s the “state of the art” piece that adds a premium.

On the preparation by the team, we all agree on one thing, scoring well in the classroom. The “but” I believe that some of us have is 1).the importance of the upcoming game, 2). past history in the Bowl and big games on television and 3). our past history with hurry up offenses. That’s all.

Put the new stadium in Diamond head, have two entrances/exits on Kapiolani Park side, one on the Kapahulu side, One one the lookout side and one where the current one is.

    Stretch,

I posted that story last week and have been beating that drum for awhile now. It is what it is. We’ll see what happens next week.

What I will say is that 12 teams are playing bowl games before Hawaii and Tulsa hit the field and six of them are playing this weekend. I am not going to take the time to research how many of them used their full allowance of practices nor how many of them did so in the midst of their finals week. It might be too depressing.

  88. d1島 December 15, 2010 9:06 am

  89. RupertDaStupert December 15, 2010 9:08 am

#87, only problem is rich folks live there. The poor ones like us would have hard time traveling to Diamond Head. Like the old stadium at isenberg where lots of old folks lived in apartments in surrounding areas and could walk to isenberg, Diamond Head would be a travel problem. And I doubt if the State of Hawaii would allow it. Being a landmark and there are some top secret government departments up there. I think Oahu just plain ran out of room for a new stadium. Even the proposed mass railway transit will be a problem with lack or space. Kapiolani Park has room but the rich citizens living there will raise hell.

After the game win or lose life goes on and hopefully these young student athletes have a great work career ahead of them so they can journey through life enjoying the positives of life with all their family and friends. Like so many of you who have good times with family and friends with the opportunity to be a blogger on this blog. Thank you to ST for making this all possible.

Reno is excited about their bowl game.

On Jan. 9 at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, the 13th-ranked and 12-1 Wolf Pack will meet Atlantic Coast Conference power Boston College in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. Interest in the bowl game has surged through the community. Nevada sold 15,369 tickets to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in the first five days tickets were available.

    3. I am also concerned about the missed practices.

    4. School comes first, while it is true practices can be conducted at night my son is also taking finals as we speak and is studying all night.

  110. SteveM December 15, 2010 9:43 am

    Good morning everyone!

Finals being a week before the Hawaii Bowl has always cut it close. One year it was said the final grades wouldn’t be ready in time and the whole team isn’t “certified” to play (that took some intervention). 😐

But Slugger is right. No pass = no play. Fail one course and maybe you don’t have enough credits to play on the team. Do poorly on the finals and maybe your grade point average is unsat. This applies to the whole team. Can’t even accompany the team to bowl activities even though you don’t suit up.

Scary time when you can lose a player to academics more than injury. I hope players are not that marginal but only Mack would know. This isn’t necessarily related to “graduation rate” — this is player eligibility to play next week in the Hawaii Bowl.

But yes, I wish the team could have more practices together.

  111. madeinhawaii December 15, 2010 9:45 am

I don’t want any player on the field distracted by or feeling the pressure of finals and term papers. Don’t need the added distractions that can lead to unnecessary injuries.

Tough call by the coach… unpopular with many of the fans.. but that’s what will make him a player’s coach and players that love their coaches will play lights out football.

  112. NCAA December 15, 2010 9:49 am

We got our butts kicked in the bowl game but we had less days to practice too because coach thought passing our finals was more important and left it to us to decide. i needed those days and i aced the finals. you thinking about what program you want to play for? my suggestion son is that you play for the program i played for because they get you ready for life after football. ***OFF TOPIC***

    HawaiianTime,

With regards to possibly purchasing a Droid X

I live and breathe on mine. If you have held one in your hands, you’ll find that it is not as big as some may lead you to believe. Yes, the 4.3 inch screen is the largest in the market, but they’ve made the phone easy to hold. The only thing is trying to reach an icon on the screen if you are using one hand.

Right now, Droid users just received a new Android 2.3 OS update. It is not the fabled “Gingerbread” 3.0 update set to be released in the 4th quarter of this year, but it’s a minor update as some users were experiencing time stamp issues with text messages and this update supposedly fixes it amongst other things. I never experienced issues.

Overall it’s argueably the BEST Android phone on the market. You’ll find a lot of people love their HTC Incredible, which is essentially a smaller version of the X. The Droid X is comparable to the HTC EVO and shouldn’t be compared to the iPhone 4. Also, you may want to decide ahead of time if you want your Droid X to function as a 3G mobile hotspot. I opted for this option in my plan and barely use it. Although I did a test run at the office and sure enough, I was able to have FIVE different devices feed through my phone successfully. Sucked my battery though!

Battery life on phone calls is actually excellent. However, checking emails, texting, and web browsing is what kills your battery and may only give it a day’s worth of power, so do not be surprised if you will have to be charging your X every night.

***One app you will find useful is the “SystemPanel Lite”. It’s Android’s best app killer. Android is such a new OS that it still cannot successfully kill/turn off your apps and allows them to run constantly adding to the drainage of your battery. It’s a free app and you can manage which apps you want to keep running and which ones you want to shut down at the end of the day.

Another simple app you may enjoy is the “AudioManager” app. Now, the only thing this app does is essentially it serves as a shot of steroids to the various volume controls on your phone. Basically, if you have your ringtone set at it’s highest volume, this app will make it even louder. I use music as my ringtone and sometimes it’s not loud enough.

You will also enjoy seeing where your Droid X stands in compairison to other Android Devices so you will probably enjoy the “Quadrant” app. It will run benchmark tests on your phone and at the end it will show you where your phone stands in terms of performance to other phones like T-Mobile’s G2, HTC EVO, etc…

Technically speaking, the iPhone 4 is the best device constructed on the market, but it’s BIGGEST downfall is quite frankly the network that supports it. Also, their app market is NOT open source. You will be able to find a more diverse blend of applications in the Android Market.

Keep in mind that Verizon is in the midst, or should be done, with preparing their network for the introduction of the iPhone to their stock. Probably in January. Verizon is not about to let the dropped calls and choppy reception of the past iPhone users to become a staple on their network, so… you MAY want to wait.

Personally speaking, if you’ve never owned a Droid, then you haven’t experienced the convienence of the multiple home screens in which you can organize your apps and materials. The Droid X has 7 home screens.

I think this is the biggest appeal for smartphone owners. The ability to customize your screens through the usage of countless widgets for thousands of apps is something Android has done very well.

In the end, the Droid X will essentially be as useful as you want it to be. Some people don’t like how big it is. But it is the best Android phone on the market for a combination of reasons:

    -VZW Network

-Operates on the latest version of the Android OS. Older Droid phone may not be subject to further updates.

    -1 gHz processor

    -call quality.

    Downfalls:

    -battery life

    -no front facing camera

-no video chat unlike iPhone 4, BUT you are reliant on a WiFi hotspot with them anyway…

-2nd best resolution to screen and photo quality to the iPhone 4.

Stretch #13 . . . I agree. This is not the first time Hawaii has been in a bowl game, but this is the first time that practices have been put off and cancelled at this rate. I’m starting to get worried too.

Oldtimer808 #15 . . . I don’t think Stretch is saying academics doesn’t matter, and neither am I. There are different ways to structure/schedule practices around finals. Shorten them, change the time, etc. But to cancel so many? Don’t forget, there are kids getting a “free” education to be an athlete. So balancing both is part of the deal. I think that academics comes first, but they can also coexist.

Btw, I don’t think it’s necessary to tell Stretch to “get a life.” He is just voicing his opinion. Sometimes it seems that there are too many people that want to give their opinions but refuse to hear or accept others’ opinions. That is not right. Everyone here should be able to voice their thoughts (as long as they are appropriate) without being told to “get a life” or to be called “stupid” as I have been in the past.

RE: The Classroom VS The Field.

See! This is why the MWC’s hopes to turn into an AQ is such a big deal for us.

If we become an AQ conference, then UH has made it, then we are like the BIG BOYS and no longer the sisters of the poor.

THEN!!!! We can get away with paying other students to take exams for the football players like how so many of the BIG BOYS AQ conferences do during this time of the year and we have NOTHING to worry about!!!!

    It’s so simple!

    😆 😆 😆

  125. expat December 15, 2010 10:02 am

…of course the last WAC team to play in the Hawaii Bowl was missing their best 1,000 yard rusher because he couldn’t get his academics in order and they were missing another 1,000 yard rusher due to injury. They didn’t lose because they were not prepared for the SMU offense (that they know so well) — they lost because they had 2,300 yards of rushing offense (and over 2,500 yards of total season offense) on the bench. I believe they had some defensive players ineligible as well. That and Kap likes to choke in big games.

ST mentioned how many class days the guys have missed due to road trips this year. Any regular student would have trouble completing all assignments missing that many days — much less balancing all the other practices and other responsibilities that the guys have during the season.

It seems like it would be a great idea to take full advantage of all the available practice days, especially for the younger players, but the first goal should be to get the schoolwork done so everyone is eligible (because that is nuts to lose someone academically like what happened to Taua last year), the second goal is to make sure that those who are banged up are as healed and rested as they can be, and the third and last goal should be to get extra practice for those who do not figure to feature prominently in the actual bowl game.

If there is ONE thing people should learn from that SMU 30 for 30 episode is that this sort of CHEATING occurs at a lot of institutions.

While being BIASED, I am 99.9% sure this kind of crap doesn’t happen at UH for the simple fact that THE NCAA WOULD HAVE COME DOWN HARD ON US AS SOON AS ANYTHING GOT OUT.

The NCAA is not scared of nailing the smaller institutions and only recently have they had the olos to go after the BIG TIME offenders at USC, Georgia, Auburn… oh wait… yeah that DIDN’T HAPPEN.

But there is no way that a mid-major program will get away with this kind of scandal.

All those effin programs getting all the national love and Colin CowWARD’s nose up their okoles are the very ones with dirty hands!

Two other teams with different approaches to their bowl game.

Utah will hold 14 bowl practices, including four during the week of the Boise State-Utah State game. Utah was off that week.

The Utes will practice 10 times to Boise State’s six after the announcement that the two teams would play in Las Vegas. The big difference is that Utah is practicing six times this week, which is finals week. Boise State is taking Monday-Wednesday off.

Coach Chris Petersen knew the Broncos would be limited in their preparation for the Las Vegas game when they lobbied for it, but he doesn’t mind. Bowl practices long have been considered a chance to begin molding the next year’s team.

“I’ve gone different than a lot of people think — I worry about burning our guys out too much,” Petersen said. “We’re going to get spring ball. They’ll come back after Christmas break and hit the weight room. The kids throw on their own. I worry about the opposite effect.”

ahouse…you not reading the stuff i gave you about recruiting. i can tell, otherwise you would have not responded to jeezy23.

the early junior college siging period is now. a mid year transfer who is eligible to tranfer to a d1 school can sign a letter similar to an loi during this period. this applies only to jc guys who can enroll in january.

    you going get it.

  139. NCAA December 15, 2010 10:14 am

    Mr. WarriorBasketball,

It was mentioned that missed classes and no pass no play are some of the reasons for practice cancellations. You’d hate to be the player that shared in this season’s accomplishment and not be able to participate in the Bowl festivities and game.

  140. Michigan Warrior December 15, 2010 10:14 am

It was reported previously that our boyz missed about 20 school days due to travel this year. They gotta make up their classwork and pass these finals, otherwise they could end up not playing at all.

If you guys recall… way back in maybe 2002, UH got fined like $5k for letting Timmy Chang play while he was ineligible.

The following year, we had WAC Defensive Player of the Year Travis Laboy who ended up being ineligible for our Bowl Game against Houston (yeah, the one with “Da Brawl” when it ended), for not meeting the minimum amount of credits per semester.

Go, Warriors! Take care of business!

  144. Pomai December 15, 2010 10:20 am

I guess I should restate my opinion – it’s not the practice parse, it’s more the conditioning aspect that I worry about, by now the players can run the offense with just few days practice, but with a lag in conditioning it is harder to get back into game shape.

The uniforms were revealed Tuesday at a Nike event at Cowboys Stadium. The event focused on release of the latest Nike Air Zoom Alpha Talon cleats, which the four teams will wear in their bowls. Boise State’s are blue and orange.

On the Navy sidelines were cousins (of Coach Nuimatalolo) Thor and Fred Salanoa. Thor was his teammate at Radford and Fred, now Radford’s football coach, was the team’s waterboy.

Although his family lived in La’ie, Niumatalolo stayed with the Salanoas near Radford.

  166. jeezy33 December 15, 2010 11:13 am

Can someone try to excite me about this new recruit besides his name being Thor?

12 tackles in 7 games with 1 for loss just doesn’t impress me.

Just because he once was signed by Utah doesn’t make me feel like this was a big pick up

  167. A-House December 15, 2010 11:28 am

    jeezy33:

perhaps there is more than the stats – but must agree, only 12 tackles in 7 games is not impressive.

conversely, Corey P has 140 tackles in 13 games.

  168. Michigan Warrior December 15, 2010 11:28 am

#146… Kazz… yeah, seems like UH gets dinged for everything, while BCS schools can get away with everything! Like, didn’t we get stripped of a Men’s Volleyball Championship because of another ineligible player? Plus, I think we paid a fine on top of that too.

Here’s what I found on LaBoy missing that bowl game… http://archives.starbulletin.com/2003/12/20/sports/index4.html

#165… MIH… aren’t those great football names? Almost gotta plan ahead if you want kids growing up to play certain sports. Starts with the name!

  169. jeezy33 December 15, 2010 11:34 am

My thing is wit ha top 25 ranking, we have been recruiting some pretty higher end guys than the past.

We got a RB who turned down Boise, Arizona, and UCLA.

A JC All American WR who lead California in every statistic.

So Im just wondering what this signing was based off of. I just hope its not because of his roots and the fact he had a scholarship out of high school from Utah.

I hope its not based on his high school video tape either because there is no way he can have a video this year with 12 tackles

  170. Slugger December 15, 2010 11:35 am

    Hiyo, hiyo!

Great energy at practice. Receivers catching balls & it was great to hear Coach Mouse cuz I learn things. There were some starters missing from practice because of finals.

Hope T. Bell’s ankle is ok. He’s not playing this season, but he was limping after a one-on-one drill. Love watching the redshirts. It’s going to be exciting to see them in the game next year.

I’m going to miss the Seniors! and those who are not going to be playing next season.

Mari might come to our T-Gate. ST knows who she is…let you know at the T-Gate.

    #169… Jeezy33, and

    #170… A-House…

I have faith in our coaches. I think they see a young man that’s teachable, with huge potential. Remember, as many have been saying these past few days especially… UH has a history of taking unknown players (and lots and lots of walk-ons), and molding them into great players. Good coaches see much more than just the main statistical categories. We see every single year… we bring in certain players in certain positions, only to see them excel on the field on the opposite side of the ball, or in another position.

  172. Silky Voice of the Gorn December 15, 2010 11:37 am

As one of this blogs most vocal critic regarding McMackin and some of his decision making in the previous 2 seasons, I believe that he is performing a fine balancing act regarding his student athletes during this finals week and week leading up to the bowl game.

With that said, the coaches and players are fully aware of what is at stake regarding this game because they’ve stated it on numerous occasions in interviews during the course of the season that EACH game was the most important game. Tulsa is no exception. The team has made it their mission to prove to some of us harsh critics from the previous seasons wrong. After the disappointing outcome at Colorado, they’ve done fairly well each week in crafting a gameplan and executing it on the field (the BSU game was an exception but BSU played that game at an extremely high level and shut UH down). They’ve stated they have not had the best success in recent national television appearances and so that aspect is going to be on everyones mind. So it is a fine balancing act of coaches working on the gameplan, the athletes focusing on getting their final exams out of the way, and then everyone putting their final focus on preparing for Tulsa.

I also agree that the recognition and respect that we (UH) desire hinges on the outcome of this game… but as mentioned previously, the coaches and players have already acknowledged this throughout the season. While I still am no fan of McMackin’s public speaking abilities, he has managed to earn this one vocal critic’s respect with regards to his coaching/leadership/managerial abilities over the course of this season. And it isn’t just because of the 10+ wins; it has been how the coaching staff and team has looked this year compared to the previous two (competent and competitive). Considering the body of work this season, it would surprise me to see this squad regress and come out looking ill-prepared and unfocused in this bowl game.

  173. Slugger December 15, 2010 11:39 am

  174. jeezy33 December 15, 2010 11:41 am

    174,

But realistically, how much can the coaches know about him if he played in Utah the past few years?

Remember we didn’t offer him out of high school. I’m just really anxious for story to break out today or tomorrow because they have signed so Mack will be allowed to comment on him and Cecil.

Snows coach must have really put in a good word or something

  175. Michigan Warrior December 15, 2010 11:48 am

#177… Remember when Coach Mack signed Jake Heun… that bruising fullback out of Alaska? Where’d he end up the majority of the time, with exception of a couple of mop-up snaps on offense?

All I’m saying is, if our coaches see a fit in our offensive or defensive schemes, I’m excited to see the end result. They’ve proven to all of us that they know how to teach.

  176. jeezy33 December 15, 2010 11:52 am

But were agreeing the Heun experiment didn’t pan out right?

I think were good enough to recruit READY TO PLAY JUCO guys and I dont mind developing freshman.

Remember, this is a 2 to play 2 guy. Redshirted at Utah already. So if this guy isn’t ready to go this fall, its almost a waste of a scholarship. And I thought we were some what thin on scholarships

If you ask me. Sounds like injury prone. No one has yet to find anything about him being a good football player.

  188. madeinhawaii December 15, 2010 12:22 pm

    jeezy..

He might have three years… he was injured in 2008 before the season started… and redshirted… then in 2009 before the season started he has his shoulder blade broken when he got tackled during summer camp.. (why he was being tackled.. I don’t know). So, he has two consecutive years of injury. He might be a 6th year possibility.

    *From HawaiiAthletics.com:

HONOLULU – Michele Nagamine has been selected as the head women’s soccer coach at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, Athletics Director Jim Donovan announced at a press conference Wednesday at the Ed Wong Hospitality Room. Nagamine is just the second coach in the 17-year history of the soccer program.

“Michele is someone who is driven, passionate and a proven winner on every level she has competed” Donovan said. “She’s been integral in the development of soccer in the state of Hawai‘i and understands its importance to the community. I believe she’s a perfect fit for the University of Hawai‘i and someone who will bring much success to our soccer program.”

“The University of Hawai‘i is the pinnacle of women’s soccer in Hawai‘i,” Nagamine said. “I am beyond excited in starting the next chapter in this program. I’m very honored that Jim has placed so much trust in me and the vision I have for the team. I hope to make a positive impact not only in the Hawai‘i soccer community, but also nationally and regionally as well.”

Nagamine, 42, has made her mark on the club, high school and collegiate levels with a reputation as a program builder. She has been named a conference coach of the year, won numerous state titles in high school and has guided the one of the elite club programs in the West region.

Nagamine spent the last three years as the head women’s soccer coach at Hawai‘i Pacific University where she turned a losing program into a conference contender. She inherited a team that won just three games in 2007 and by her second year lifted the team to a 10-8-1 record and a third-place finsh in the PacWest Conference. For her efforts she was named the 2009 PacWest Coach of the Year. This past season, the Division II Lady Sea Warriors finished with their second straight winning record and were the only team in the nation during the regular-season to defeat BYU-Hawai‘i, ranked No. 1 in the West region,

While at the helm of the Lady Sea Warrior soccer program she recruited a conference goalkeeper of the year, a conference newcomer of the year and six all-conference players. She also oversaw academic improvement as the team increased its GPA to above a 3.0.

Prior to joining HPU, Nagamine established herself as one of the most successful coaches in all of Hawai‘i high school athletics. As the head coach of the Kamehameha School girls soccer team since 1991, she won five Hawai‘i state championships and six Interscholastic League of Honolulu titles. Nagamine was named ILH Coach of the Year a league-record seven times and was a five-time selection as state coach of the year.

The Honolulu native is a 1990 graduate of Santa Clara University in California where she was the captain of the 1990 Bronco women’s soccer team that reached the NCAA semifinals. Nagamine replace Pinsoom Tenzing, who retired in November after heading the UH women’s soccer program during its first 17 years of existence.

  196. Kazz December 15, 2010 12:32 pm

Nagamine also says that she hopes to decide on a coaching staff by the end of January 2011.

    @ 189,

whom you beat and where you beat them defines the quality and performance of your team.

geez, that is so basic it defies explanation….it becomes part of the equation when ranking teams…Tulsa defeating ND at South Bend was huge and opposing fan dribble wont marginalize the fact that Tulsa is a dangerous Bowl foe and worthy of concern, especially when they have doubled Hawaii’s practice time….as far as Tulsa not respecting Hawaii for defeating Nevada–that is groundless and laughable.

  201. NCAA December 15, 2010 1:11 pm

Michele Nagamine is an outstanding soccer coach. Now we’ll see a big difference on the offensive side of the ball from the former offense system.

  202. Kaimuki Kid December 15, 2010 1:16 pm

Breathe in and out, take in a deep braethe and release it slowly. Close your eyes and imagine a cool running stream, wind rustling through the branches of the trees around you. Relax everyone trust the coaches and the kids they will do alright. Its a Football Game.

I kinda remember all the people making a lot of noise when the depth chart showed that Cory Paredes was going to start, I think that it turned out pretty well, don’t you. This year has been a blessing please enjoy it and wait, I am sure you will not be disappointed.

  203. Kazz December 15, 2010 1:32 pm

    hawaiiansun,

I could give two —-s about who Tulsa beat and where.

All I care about is how we match up against their offense. Ask the coaches ANY effin coach. They’re not intimidate by WHO THEY BEAT OR WHERE all they care about is what specific threats they pose to our weaknesses.

Likewise for Tulsa. They don’t care that we beat Nevada. All they will be concerned about is their questionable pass defense against our offense.

Any team can lose to anyone on any given day THAT IS PROVEN.

We’ve known Tulsa is a threat for Hawaii a few weeks now and their offense is the primary reason and NOT because they beat Notre Dame in South Bend.

I have to believe that the coaching staff know enough to make sure our team is well prepared for the Hawaii Bowl… We usually only have a few practices before a game anyway. Besides, if you don’t know how to run the offense yet you shouldn’t be on the field. So I am not worried.

On another note…who’s going to the party on Saturday?

Now we’ll see a big difference on the offensive side of the ball from the former offense system.

There was a system for the offense?

Interesting info on recent exchanges of ideas regarding leasing a/c from various carriers serving or planing to fly into HI.

Guess we’ll have to wait until 2012 to see what SWA does.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40684239/ns/travel-news/

CEO Gary Kelly said Wednesday that Southwest will change an existing order with Boeing Co. and get 20 new 737-800 jets beginning in March 2012.

Those jets have 175 seats, 38 more than the largest planes in Southwest’s current fleet, which means potentially more revenue per flight.

The airline plans to add international service when it completes the purchase of AirTran Airways, which flies to Mexico and the Caribbean. It could still use AirTran’s planes for those flights.

Kelly said during a speech in New York that Southwest might use the 737-800 first at busy airports in the Northeast. But he said it could also be used to fly to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean — destinations that Southwest doesn’t serve now.

Southwest notified Boeing it will substitute 737-800s orders for ones it had already placed for the 737-700. Kelly said Southwest would retire older planes as it gets the new ones, and doesn’t plan to expand its fleet.

Hawaii was NOT prepared for the no-huddle offense they saw in Boise and in Colorado. Tulsa runs a no huddle offense. The team should be preparing for that. Forget about debating whether or not Tulsa is a formidable bowl opponent. They are eligible, they are formidable. UH has proven to be suspect against the no-huddle. Nuf said. I believe Thor and Current Warrior Malapeai were teammates at Radford.

I trust that the UH coaches see some good things in this boy. Especially if he enters UH on Scholarship. Whether you know it or not, it’s a big deal when a player is awarded a scholarship. Do you think it causes any riffs? You bet your @$$. A great example is someone like Bronson Tiwanak who started all year, but does not have a scholly when you have folks like London Sapolu who got a full ride and barely played a down or two in scrub time. Believe me, these things do affect the psyche of the locker room. Let’s say there is a current UH walk-on who has worked hard for 1 or 2 seasons, but have yet to be awarded his meal ticket. And now comes a player who has not done much in JUCO coming in with a full ride. Trust me, these things can cause problems.

    BIK

“Prediction: While defense won’t be the reason fans tune into this game Christmas Eve, it’s worth noting that Hawaii forced 23 interceptions this year, and Tulsa had 19 picks. I think which ever quarterback doesn’t make the big mistake wins this ball game. I’m going with Hawaii winning one of college football’s most entertaining pre-New Years bowl games in their own back yard.

    Hawaii- 42 Tulsa- 35”

Just a small point BigIslandKurt, according to Tomboahi’s site London Sapolu is a 3 to play 2 guy which means he was redshirting this year.

In the grand scheme of things I would think there is a sense of belonging because you want to be a Warrior, whether on scholie or not. I’ve read about the togetherness and family atmosphere of this year’s team, I hope one having a scholie over another is not a big issue.

    Wednesday’s Wisdoms!

    1. National Championship will be decided between Nike and Under Armour. Oregon will be breaking out new Nike uniforms. No sure about Under Armour. I’m leaning on Auburn, but I might change my mind since the points are very valuable and I think Oregon will be motivted to prove that they can beat the Heisman Trophy winner and they will be the underdogs. Be always beware of the underdogs. It has been proven time and time again.

    2. To practice or not to practice? I am not worried one bit. I trust Coach Mack and the asst. coaches. Taking finals and taking care of the academics is first and foremost. In the end, we want to graduate all our players and do well in school. The coaches have know what they are doing and are preparing for Tulsa. The players are not burnt out with lots of rest and can heal their wounds. They have been doing their weight lifting and conditioning drills. Game plans have been worked on and scouting reports on Tulsa is all pau. Recruiting have been going on. A good week of practice between today or tomorrow and next Wednesday is enough. The main thing in the next 7 to 8 days is to get the timing back and the execution. Everybody should be able to go, fresh, and prepared. If we lose to Tulsa, it will not because we didn’t practice enough. Tulsa is good, we know that. But, I like Hawaii because I think our defense is a little better than their defense. I also believe that we will get some turnovers, Tulsa will get some too, and the difference will be who makes the most “BIG” plays. I also like the fact that we are playing at home and that’s always a plus. The fact we lost to Notre Dame the last time in the bowl game should help in the fact that

we don’t want to lose in the bowl game 2 straight times. No way Hawaii will not be motivated. The key for Hawaii’s defense is to slow Tulsa’s QB from running the ball for a lot of yards. So, our run defense is the main thing. If our run defense is good, we win this game easily. If not, it will be long day and a very close game. Like I said, I like Hawaii giving the points.

    3. Thor Salanoa, Sr. went to BYU and had a very good career there. My wife taught Thor Salanoa, Sr. in kindergarten at Aiea Elementary in the early 70’s. His family lived in Makalapa and Thor, went on to Radford. My wife remembers him as a good boy as a youngster. Good luck to Thor, Jr. with his UH career. P.S. My wife also taught some of the Ala family. Many of the Alas are all related many from Waianae. Anyway, some of the kids she taught were Navy Ala and Arizona Ala. They lived in Makalapa also and their father was in the Navy, thus the names. One of their uncle is Tui Ala, who played for UH. Their cousin is Houston Ala, who also played for UH.

  276. madeinhawaii December 15, 2010 6:48 pm

The no huddle is very effective against our Warriors because our defense is often on the field for a lot more plays than our offense. If our offense can get in rhythm early, this doesn’t pose a problem as the other team becomes pretty predictable if they are in catch up mode. BUT, if the offense can’t get in synch fast enough, the defense gets worn down quickly and then it’s a shoot out OR … a blow out against Hawaii.

So how do you stop the no huddle? If not by sheer superior athleticism?

Is mentioned this before, but, IMHO, maybe the best way to stop a no huddle is to have two sets of DE’s and Outside linebackers (and any other positions on defense that get gassed by the no huddle) rotating in every time the chain is moved. Defensive coaches can coach up the players waiting to go in. Keep their minds fresh and don’t let them get overly winded, and you defeat two of the main reasons to implement the no huddle.

what about the DBs as UH likes to make different 5 cent packages?

your idea has merit in the coaches having different packages ready to go – means all defensive players down to the 3rd string must be ready to go – mind in the game rather than any “grab ass” on the sideline.

  281. madeinhawaii December 15, 2010 7:04 pm

    A-House..

Dunno about the nickle and dime packages against a no-huddle. You can’t swap players in and out every down.. gotta go every time they move the chain…. so it’s a matter of picking your poison. Best players in the back for each formation till the move the chain.

Did Thor Salanoa accept a scholarship offer or is he going to be a walk-on? I don’t recall if the news said we was on scholarship. Joining the program doesn’t mean he’s on scholarship.

Sterline Jackson and Darryl McBride joined the team last summer but they agreed to come on as walk-ons and are redshirting this year. These 2 guys will make a big impact new year and will compete for starting jobs at running back and at safety. McBride was scout of the year on defense. I also predict Dee Maggitt will compete for a starting job at cornerback next year. John Hardy-Tuliau has the edge for one of the cornerback positiions, and Torres looks to nail down one of the safety postions, probably strong safety. Lewis Walker, Sellers, Ornellas, Gomes, Christian, and others will all be trying to get a lot of playing time and step up their play. I don’t want to miss anybody because I’m just going from the top of my head.

The Warriors have failed miserably in their last three season finals. Two (Sugar Bowl and Notre Dame) can be blamed on how they prepared for those games. This coming game can be viewed as the team’s Season Final. It’ll determine the teams final grade for the season.

Stretch is right in his concern about how the team is “studying”(preparing} for this final test. Tulsa is using the maximum “study time” allowed while UH is going into cram mode. Once the team checks into their hotel, the distraction factor is going to be multiplied several times. Families, girlfriends and freinds will be vying for the player’s and coaches time.

Against ND the team fell for all the Waikiki distractions that visiting teams in the 80’s would fall for. Plus the distractions of making time for family and friends for the Holidays.

There’s no switch to turn on focus and itensity. Those are things you build in practice and the coaches maintain during game week.

I hope I’m wrong in my concern. I hope the Warriors come out sharp and pass this test with flying colors. I hope Mack is not from the Wade Phillip’s school of coaching, you know let your players have a few days off during the playoffs, let Romo go to Mexico with Jessica.

#262 – mih . . . ummmm, you study film. Just like you would for any other opponent. Preparing for the no-huddle requires fast paced repetition and rehearsal of how you plan to rotate in and out defensive players.

#304 – I disagree. One of the first things people will point to if UH loses is the lack of practice. Guarantee. Do I think UH will lose? NOPE. I do have faith in this team. Just disagree with the lack of practice.

  320. The State of Hawai`i does NOT yet own the land under which Aloha Stadium sits so until that happens, they cannot sell it.

Furthermore, there is NO reason why a new stadium cannot be built there. All totaled, there are 132 acres on the site of which seven make up the current Stadium.

There is no room in urban Honolulu to building a new stadiym EXCEPT by tearing down the cheap walkups between King Street and Kapi`olani Blvd. between downtown and the University.

Furthermore, the CIP priorities of both the Legislature as well as the Abercrombie Administration are Department of Education, the University System, Department of Land & Natural Resoiurces, the State Hospital, the Department of Trasnportation – roadways, harbors & airports to name just a few.

Waiting for the holy grail and maybe the crystal skull! Mo Latu would be a good start, either an offensive line or defensive lineman, 6’3″, 306 lbs. from Arizona. Is he coming for a visit in January?

It’s interesting that UH doesn’t seem to have a lot of in roads in the state of Texas ever since June Jones left. The last time we got a player from Texas was last years class, Desmond Dean who is redshirting this year. In recent past, we got a number of defensive backs from Texas like Myron Newberry, Gerard Lewis, and Ryan Mouton. These guys were good players for us. No big, but were solid.

    Any updates on the following:

    1. Is David Katina in the program?

    2. Where is Chad Kapanui?

    3. Where is Charles Tuaau?

    4. Where is Pep Fonokalafi?

    5. Mike Wadsworth returning to the program after the 2011 season after his mission?

    6. Who actually are the grayshirts who will join the program in January?

  336. Lopaka43 December 15, 2010 11:22 pm

    Aloha Tsaiko Ohana!!

Strange pattern here from my viewpoint….No matter what the news is, some folks here always are sure that the sky is falling, and can’t let go even when we are coming to the end of a remarkable season.

Coach Mack assures us that he thinks that they have enough practices scheduled to get ready for Tulsa. Coach Petersen of Boise State who has a very good post season bowl record tells the media that he is only going practice 6 times. It is pointed out that getting the academics taken care of is critical to making sure that nobody is disqualified for the Tulsa game.

Bloggers who don’t have anything like the experience of these two gentlemen go on and on about what a mistake is being made by not practicing at the time that the coaches say student-athletes need to study for their finals and finish project assignments. They bring up the Sugar Bowl beat down and the Notre Dame humiliation.

Personally, I think Coach is stressing the right values even though I an also haunted by the fear of another national TV collapse. That demon needs to be dispatched. The Sugar Bowl and the Notre Dame defeats really stung. But I think that this is the team to get over that hump.

This team has been getting better and better on both sides of the ball. The players are at home; not at altitude after a long road trip. The defense has gotten stronger with every game and has surely learned from their previous experiences with the hurry up offense style.

This group of coaches is the strongest we have had since Coach Mack took over. They have the Colorado and the La Tech hurry ups to study; they have had plenty of time to study what Tulsa does.

I don’t think anybody, coaches or players, is taking this game lightly.

I think this is a team that takes care of business and realizes that they have a chance to go down in history as one of the best teams that Hawaii has ever had if they can put the exclamation point on the season by smashing a pretty good Tulsa team.

    Bottom line: I believe.

    Aloha and esme woosh…

  339. Lopaka43 – Mahalo for stating the very obvious.

Here’s my bet. If the Warriors lose by four or more points at the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl, I’ll double the T-Donation from the HI-5 drives. If they lose by three or fewer point, we’ll just call it even. However, if the team takes it to the winner’s stand on December 24, then each of you gloom’ndoomers can donate $200 to Koa Anuenue for summer school tuition.

I also hope Pep and Charles are trying to make it some where.

Graphic novels may be the expression at existing employed to refer to reprints of comic strips, which includes within the scenario using the good-looking two-volume compilation using the total run of Calvin and Hobbes. For that reason, just like a comic e-book can most successful be acknowledged by its similarity having a magazine, with staples within the spine and fairly few of pages, graphic novel now refers having a square-bound comic of any dimension, with distinctive content material substance or not. Graphic novels, selected current comics and titles on comic artists, writers, gathering, and so forth., are in the minute changing into additional around the collections. This handbook represents the current situation of comics linked material.

  442. Karren Nelles December 30, 2010 4:16 am

Comics could possibly also rapidly illustrate a user’s response to an onscreen connection. A circulation diagram with an end error problem or confirmation message could presumably require the reader to decipher it, having said that the comic character’s facial expression can clearly mirror disappointment or pleasure (see image 2) utilizing a specific private pc connection. Comics appear to turn out to be a perfect approach to become specific that all stakeholders possess a clear notion of what the end shopper information will probably be. Based on my in-store experience and your review I think I’ll be waiting for a future generation to arrive. 461. uggs on sale shoes December 31, 2010 4:43 am

I’ve to say that I agree with all the sentiments about getting AOL as quantity one. The comments posted along side it sum it up properly, that it does next to nothing to strengthen the brand, but only adds confusion.Out of the perfect rebrands within the l ist, I’d set SyFy on the leading. Initially I hated the name, mainly because I thought they did it ??just because,??? when the fact is they had to change their name on account of becoming unable to legally use Sci-fi.??? Now rather than coming up with a entire new name that nobody would know- and quite possibly lose a good deal on the currently inbuilt SciFi??? brand- they stuck with all the old title having a little bit of phrase play. I can nevertheless call SyFy Sci-fi when it comes up, and that makes me happy.

The whole level of [logo] layout will not be to show off??? what you could do. It is not about bells and wh istles. It really is that form of thinking that has a lot of recent designers applying gradients on every layout ingredient as if they’d a little something to do with v isual communication. The lion drawing does notneed any longer pol ishing. From exactly where I stand, It truly is at a point where by it might ONLY be utilized or d iscarded. When you assume it needs far more pol ishing ,that it’s too cartoony??? , or you have styl istic objections using the option, then maybe you??? re while in the mistaken occupation. You??? re complaining about something very elementary to contemporary graphic style. I have read from many of the greats to the topic of design and I do feel I have a handle around the topic. Count me as an additional man or woman surpr ised that you simply did notinclude pepsi around the ??worst??? l ist or perhaps acknowledge their redesign.Other particular comments. The new Pfizer logo looks sloppy and careless to me. The blue clearspace about the wordmark is uneven. I such as the notion, however the execution is poor. The previous a person is tighter.I do notunderstand what you like far better regarding the new Guitar Hero logo. The adverse area among the letters can make it virtually unachievable to learn for me.As for El Banco Deuno, I do notget it at all. The line breaks appear completely jarring to me and remind me of a logo I did for my s ister is line of crafts when I was about 15 (it was the phrase pollywogs??? on two lines, which has a hyphen?- ugh). Finally, I would adore to discover your l ist of Identities that happen to be in desperate will need of a redesign. My #1 select could be Verizon.

For example, I used to own an inn in town. One day, as a guest was checking out, he complained of chest pains. I called 911, and the first 2 responders were there in 3 minutes. Within 10 minutes, there were 2 trucks and 10 guys there. The guest later told me that they saved his life he had to be airlifted to Santa Rosa, and time was of the essence. Ive heard many other firsthand accounts of the incredible job done by these volunteers.
