Defensive lineman Jordan Pu‘u-Robinson will not play the rest of the season while his surgically repaired finger mends, coach Norm Chow said after yesterday’s 90-minute practice.
Pu‘u-Robinson suffered the injury on the first play of his first UH start, against San Diego State, two weeks ago. He played the rest of the game. But X-rays a couple of days later showed the injury to the middle finger on his left hand.
Chow said Siasau Matagiese, Haku Correa and Kaeo Alo will be the main DTs. Beau Yap, Tavita Woodard and Marcus Malepeai also will be used there, if necessary.
This is a fill-in role for Alo, who will move back to fullback next year.

There’s no substitution for experience.
It was the graduate assistants who claimed the top prize in the first Warrior Karaoke Challenge last night.
The GAs earned a bye into the semifinals, which was owned by Inoke Funaki’s rendition of “I Just Called To Say I Love You.” A bit of irony that a Stevie Wonder song was performed on the UH campus.
Then in the surprise of surprises, Lance Samuseva stole the night with his version of “Me and Mrs. Jones.” (OK, A-Joe still owns that song.)
Videos of some of the acts will be posted on my Facebook page.
