In addition to receiving a T-shirt and solid coaching the past weekend, Punahou offensive tackle Matthew Sparks and Kamehameha defensive end Kory Rasmussen each received a scholarship offer from the Warriors.

Both participated in UH’s Big Man’s Camp.

“I learned a lot of new things I plan on using this season,” Rasmussen said.

Noel Rasmussen, who was a skilled player for Damien in the 1980s, said his son began playing football at age 4. Noel served as Kory’s coach in youth leagues.

Rasmussen also has received offers from Colorado, Washington, Utah and Arizona.

“I’m going to look at all of the schools and see which one fits me the best,” he said.

Here’s the Rasmussen family — Kory, Kelvin, mom Laurie and Noel.

Hey, there’s Chris! He’s a good kid—quiet, responsible. Plus he never did complain when I would accidentally call him Frank during the first few weeks of school, haha. Teaching isn’t all that bad when you have kids like Chris. Hope he and all the others had a good time at the camp.

Gimme the shirt so I can start training.

I open my morning Star Advertiser and what do I see on the front page. It refers to “tournament MVP Dirk Nowitzki”. Please, get your verbiage and facts correct. Dirk is not “tournament MVP”. He is the NBA Finals MVP, it is not a tournament. Common, man!

Aside from that, hey, it’s a very good day. Ha, Ha. But, I would like my State paper to have the facts correctly.

Yesterday was the best day I felt when Dallas beat the Heat since UH beat Washington in 2007 to complete an undefeated regular season at 12-0. And I don’t really consider myself a big Dallas Mavericks fan either. More like I despise James, Wade, and Bosh more for obvious reasons. And like the ESPN poll showed, more than 73% of the country was pulling for the Mavericks to win. The fans in Cleveland are stoked that James lost. But, the story is not about how James failed. It is really about the Dallas Mavericks team. They were the better TEAM and there is no “I” in team.

  25. gigi-hawaii June 13, 2011 8:32 am

Derek, you tell it like it is.

  26. gigi-hawaii June 13, 2011 8:32 am

    re: Mountain West TV Contracts.

“Starting next year, with the loss of the Dallas-Fort Worth television market after TCU leaves, Mountain West markets will make up only about 6% of the nation’s TV households, Thompson says.”

I didn’t realize how little the TV market the MWC actually covers…It is going to be interesting to see if the MWC will want to expand at a later date to break into the Texas market.

At 6% its definitely going to be hard for future negotiations.

Also, there is no guarantee whatsoever that Hawaii gets to keep their PPV TV deal. If Comcast or whoever decides that its ALL MWC schools or none, then Hawaii could get shafted and w/o that $2M a year.

  47. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 9:20 am

TCU never really had the Dallas market, anyway.

Now. the Cowboys, they have the Dallas market.

It’s like how the WAC tries to claim it has the Bay Area. Stanford and Cal have the Bay Area. San Jose State doesn’t.

  48. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 9:23 am

For the WAC football media preview, the San Jose Mercury News doesn’t send a reporter. Neither does the S.F. Chronicle. Boise used to bring at least three people. Fresno used to be good; not sure if any Central California reporter went to last year’s preview. Can’t recall Las Cruces having a rep, either. The Utah papers were well represented but that’s because last year’s event was in Salt Lake City.

  50. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 9:26 am

re: CSUF Budget Cuts to Athletics.

“As school President John Welty said earlier this month, Fresno State also will increase the share of student fees heading to the athletic department. Student fees will be raised from $30 in 2010-11 to $70 in 2011-12. Of that, $60 will go toward athletics.”

I wouldn’t be surprised to see UHAD requesting an increase to student athletics fees starting in 2013 if they do not realize increased revenue from the MWC conference move.

The additional money we pay out in travel subsidies is going to cost us a nice chunk of change. And hopefully we will still keep our PPV money. If not, it might be an additional $1M we will need to find.

I expect the price of parking passes and those premiums paid on season tickets to go up for 2012 to make up the difference immediately.

    #48,

If I were Comcast, I would make you lead negotiator for the MWC deal.

Craig Thompson: You know, we do have the XYZ market.

ST: Actually, you don’t. Here’s what we are willing to pay you… Take it, or take it. Those are your choices. Oh and BTW, the price includes Honolulu.

    Lol.

    Good morning folks!

ST #43 Agree on the multiple online personalities thing…it gets really bad when they start talking to each other! Creepy!

  56. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 9:34 am

I’d tell Comcast what Billy Tubbs said about the WAC’s past deal with Fox Regional Sports: If I turned on the TV in my hotel room, do I get your games?

  57. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 9:35 am

    #49,

Based on what I have been told from my friends who live in the Bay Area is that college football in general isn’t that huge up there.

    They are into the NFL.

I don’t know if that’s true for the most part, but they rarely see college football getting major coverage or big mentions in the media as often as one would think.

  58. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 9:37 am

    #58,

Response: If I turned on the TV in my hotel room, would I recognize your team names?

  59. Slugger June 13, 2011 9:38 am

    Good morning, gang!

Good to hear that the coaches are making schollie offers after the camp. Hope the guys consider UH seriously.

ST ~ I don’t think you’re a woman and if I win the shirt, I’ll give it away to an XL Tsaiko. 😉

Gimme the shirt so I can start training.

  60. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 9:40 am

Several years ago, the Fresno Bee really covered college sports. I remember Andy Katz had a full-page notes package on national sports. Katz is amazing. When he left, it wasn’t the same. The Denver papers used to have really good notes packages on the major leagues. Then I read a book that talked about how MLB beat writers were sharing notes.

  61. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 9:42 am

I have a bad feeling about our PPV thing…I’m thinking we are going to lose that money when they choose to revise the TV contract.

We are going to be locked into the MWC, and the MWC is going to be in a difficult negotiating position without a team like BYU.

Why would Comcast agree to give up the rights of UH even if its a very small market? The answer to buying an undersized t-shirt isn’t throwing it into the dryer to make it smaller lol.

If we do keep the PPV deal, can we go and get deals with ESPN?

  62. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 9:44 am

Tubbs’ point was that Fox Regional was giving the WAC more money, but ESPN was giving better coverage.

It’s not just the game. ESPN provides cross-promotion — free publicity that might have been lost on a certain recent critic of the Pro Bowl.

I’m curious as to what will happen with the Hawaii Bowl, which is owned jointly by ESPN Regional TV and the WAC.

  63. Darren June 13, 2011 9:45 am

Hawaii’s future 2012-2013 MWC schedule…no Wyoming for initial home and home series.

    #64,

    re: MWC 8-Game Schedule

They are trying their best to match meaningful games for Hawaii anyway. I appreciate that.

Although playing for the paniolo trophy again would be a lot of fun.

I understand the driver for this was AF and thats all well and good. However (Assuming temporary BCS status) I wonder what would happen if there is like a 3-way tie like a few years back with Texas/Oklahoma/TTech.

  66. AlaWai June 13, 2011 9:51 am

ESPN radio claims City of Dallas declared today “LeBron James

Day.” Everyone gets to leave 12 minutes early!

  67. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 9:52 am

    Darren:

Thanks for the link to Brian Murphy’s column:

    Hawaii

    Will miss: Wyoming

2012 home games: Boise State, Nevada, New Mexico, UNLV

2013 home games: Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State

  68. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 9:53 am

By the way, you can enter multiple times in the shirt contest. Just not consecutive minutes.

  69. Darren June 13, 2011 9:54 am

Are they setting an “x” number of set rivalry games with these schedules? Hard to imagine going 2 years without a UNLV or Fresno on our schedule.

  70. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 9:55 am

Anyone here think the Big 12 is going to expand after the end of the current BCS contract?

Then in the new BCS contract it will have 1 additional condition where a conference must have a championship game made of 12 members. Big 12 poaches Boise and picks up BYU…MWC gotta go hunting for 3 teams to make 12 but in doing so will not meet the 3 original criteria to begin with.

  71. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 9:57 am

    #70 Darren,

That isn’t known yet from what I have read in other articles. My guess is they will try their best to keep traditional rivalries in place.

wyom plays at the highest elevation in college football–well over 7,000-feet above sea level, not to mention mutiple connecting flights. it still leaves hawaii with 2 nose-bleed games on the road @ year. ft collins and colorado springs in the same season on the road will be brutal if not nightmarish. it can snow in the fall in those two venues. da donks catch a break by not playing afa for two years, one of best teams representing the six-holdovers.

Also good to hear Kory say, “I learned a lot of new things I plan on using this season”. That’s ’cause we got some great coaches who know how to coach and bring out the best in each of our recruits!

On the way to Boulder, I thought I saw a sign that said 8,000′ above sea level. Is Wyoming higher?

Would not mind playing, from a fan’s perspective, to have AFA and CSU on back to back weekends. Take a tour package to Denver and see both games.

Didn’t make it to the QBC luncheon…too much paperwork. Maybe I can make Wednesday…

Lots of SPAM for lunch on the blog…

My friend’s son, Tommy, shot an 81 on the par 71 course in the qualifying round for the Manoa Cup. Hope he makes the cut. Dad’s scores are not in yet. Their friend Nick Ushijima is ranked 4th right now shooting an Even par this morning. Jon said he was good… Might have to go watch some golf this week.

I’m speculating that the “Sleeper” really isn’t a sleeper, someone under the radar. I’ll guess that this QB is already well known, has fine credentials, and is on many a radar. ST, unveil this mask and the mystery of da “Sleeper Quarterback.”

#62 Agree. Hard to believe Comcast would willingly give up the Hawaii tv rights out of the kindness of their hearts. If they were kind, they would re-negotiate the MWC tv rights and make a “fairer” pay out. We should hope for the best but probably not hold our breaths on this one.

  132. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 2:10 pm

If Tate Forcier was at the very least CONSIDERING San Jose, I don’t see why he wouldn’t at the very least consider Hawaii.

Yes we are loaded at the QB position…but to get him would be pretty awesome. He could take our team to even higher levels.

  133. wafan June 13, 2011 2:11 pm

#133 San Jose? Argh. Just how good is Tate? Tell me more, tell me more (sounds like the song from Grease). If he’s a prized QB, why would he consider such San Jose? Regardless, we need more QBs. 🙂

  141. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 2:28 pm

    #141,

Well he had some problems academically that forced him to move from Michigan to transfer to Miami (but never actually transferred there).

He is a pretty mobile QB which has shown to come in handy in our system…Just watch Moniz scramble. It adds another dimension. He is pretty fast too…4.5s if I remember correctly. He has a good arm too.

I just think in the Rich Rod system at Michigan was not a good fit for him. And his academics. lol.

But hey, its not like Hawaii hasn’t been known as 2nd Chance University before right? read: Brennan/Bess.

  147. longboarder June 13, 2011 2:39 pm

    Tate Forcier?

Read up on this guy. The dude is poison and his father is a helicopter.

  148. Curt June 13, 2011 2:39 pm

I think da Sleeper QB and al have alot in common. al can run from the living room to the refridgerator in 4.5 seconds and al also sleeps alot.

  149. Stretch June 13, 2011 2:42 pm

#144 – there is more to a player than just what he does on the field. I agree with longboarder.

  150. gigi-hawaii June 13, 2011 2:43 pm

I think Al regrets making a bet with me.

  156. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 2:50 pm

    #148,

What would you have called Brennan and Bess during their recruitment?

Last time I checked they weren’t fricken model citizens.

  157. gigi-hawaii June 13, 2011 2:51 pm

    I admit I am a stern taskmaster.

Hubby is in the dog house again.

He did such a lousy job cutting our hedge in the back yard.

    yuck!

solution: hire a company to chop down the hedge and install a fence.

    will cost big bucks.

  158. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 2:52 pm

    #150,

Same question. Can people not change?

  159. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 2:53 pm

Gotta get ready for the Warrior Season

  161. gigi-hawaii June 13, 2011 2:54 pm

    IWWTHM,

    interesting dilemma.

    sure, give Tate another chance.

but, remember that kicker who shoplifted a $6 bracelet from a Waikiki store?

Mack got rid of him in a hurry.

  162. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 3:00 pm

In all fairness this blog wasn’t around when Bess and Brennan were being recruited…So not like we can go back to see the opinions or people had the opportunity to express them on here.

However, you guys get the point.

Hindsight is 20/20…Recruiting is a gamble…People make mistakes that is a sure bet…we all human.

It’s not like we are recruiting Pryor or someone with egregious violations under their belt and total disregard for the rules.

  163. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 3:05 pm

    #162,

Mack is going to run his program and discipline his kids the way he sees fit. UH Compliance office will oversee and make sure that his rules meet or exceed what is required of the NCAA/WAC etc.

Nothing wrong with him kicking someone off a team for violating team rules. His team, his call. I support that.

A second chance does not equal a free pass forever.

I would say the only thing that the main thing from getting any more QB’s is that we have so many already. Has to be clear and convincing at this point imo.

If it’s Tate that UH is considering, I’m sure the coaches are doing their due diligence. Maybe that’s why ST can’t speak up just yet.

  167. jojo® June 13, 2011 3:06 pm

oops, never mind, I don’t want the shirt

  168. warriorsun June 13, 2011 3:07 pm

#109, folsom field in boulder plays @ 5,360-feet above the sea. signage is well-placed in the visitor’s locker room as well as the player walkway to the field. they want their opponents to get the elevation in their head. falcon stadium in colorado springs is over 6,600-feet and sony lubick field at hughes stadium in ft collins plays above the 5,100 mark. next in line would be nevada’s mackay stadium in reno which is above 4,600-feet. been to all five-fields and played in four–as a fan you can feel it most in laramie. at war memorial stadium you are playing 7,200-feet above waikiki beach.

  170. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 3:08 pm

    #167,

Yep. And hey, if the coaches don’t think he is a good fit or if its not worth the pursuit then fine. I am not going waste an eye blink on it.

Just saying that he is worth taking a good hard look at, at the very least.

  171. Couch potato June 13, 2011 3:21 pm

    i wouldn’t waste a scholie on a 2 to play 2 QB. he is a 2 for 2 correct?

  172. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 3:23 pm

    #172,

Pretty sure I read he has 3 to play 2.

  174. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 3:26 pm

If he were 2 to play 2, I would agree it probably wouldn’t be worth a scholarship.

  175. Couch potato June 13, 2011 3:29 pm

3 to play 2. i would pass still yet. it’s not like he put up extraordinary numbers or led his team to the promised land. yep yep yep, get plenny QB’s in the cupboard already.

  176. 99club June 13, 2011 3:30 pm

    Darren,

As ST already posted, mahalo for the link to the Mountain West schedule for 2012 and 2013. Based on UH’s announced 2012 schedule, it looks like the AF and CO St. games in 2012 will have to be played in either Oct or Nov in CO. Brrrrr!

And one more thing: Gimme the shirt so I can start training!

  177. Couch potato June 13, 2011 3:33 pm

if the current QB’s cannot fill the void when Mo leaves then the UH coaches have not done a good job in preparing for the future. the QB’s were recruited for a purpose and if no one steps up then the coaches have failed in that respect.

to go looking for talent elsewhere seems like a slap in the face to the current QB’s. i’m all for competition but this seems extravagant.

    #176,

Didn’t he take lead Michigan to the Gator Bowl after a 3 year bowl-less slump? It was something to do with his academics that ruled him ineligible to play in the bowl…and there his new journey began haha.

  184. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 3:39 pm

super OT but…the worst thing Michigan did was fire Lloyd Carr.

  185. gigi-hawaii June 13, 2011 3:42 pm

But, oh, to look like beautiful Jojo!!!

  186. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 3:42 pm

  187. Couch potato June 13, 2011 3:43 pm

    CO @ UH Even

    UH @ Washington -13

    UH -9 @ UNLV

    UH @ La Tech -2 1/2

UH -3.5 @ San Jose St.

    NM St. @ UH -20

    Bess/Brennan:

There was favorable response to Bess/Brennan when they were being recruited.

I think a lot had to do with that picture we ran of Bess.

I still have the article of Brennan deciding to come to UH. It was buried in the back of the sports section.

#190, idk about the accuracy of your statement about no one gambling on this site since there are many on the blog that are outspoken proponents to legalize gaming in this state.

moeover, there are tsaikos that are gung-ho supporters of hawaii football.

phil steele has boldly favored four-conference foes and so, it offers an opportunity for many to get involved. if steele’s odds hold till gametime–there are several interesting bets to lay down….especially for zealous warrior fans in betting against the spread.

  220. gigi-hawaii June 13, 2011 5:34 pm

This makes me respect Moniz all the more for staying out of trouble.

  221. Garret June 13, 2011 5:37 pm

JD says that the travel subsidies will cost UH $1.2 mil, plus UH will need to charter flights for the Warriors so the total increase in travel costs could reach $2 mil.

The cost estimates for these subsidies is approximately $1.2 million (at today’s travel costs). Obviously, this will be a cost that we’ll have to raise from self-generated revenues, unless some other source of funding develops.

In addition to these known costs, we will likely have to work very hard to provide our football team charters to away conference games. It just doesn’t make much sense that we would help pay for a charter for a Mountain West team to come here, but we wouldn’t provide a charter for our team to go play at a Mountain West location. The cost of implementing something like this might be in the range of $500,000/year. So the total amount of annual new revenue we’ll have to generate is somewhere between $1.75 million and $2 million – which is a substantial amount in this economy.

I’m glad that UH offered Matthew Sparks and how that he commits to UH. It is interesting that his self-reported interest in schools lists Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, and Stanford…no UH. However, UH is his first offer and maybe scout just hasn’t updated his interest list yet.

I’m guessing that Sparks has taken care of the academic side because he paid his own way to go to Stanford’s football camp. Stanford didn’t offer him yet, but his paying to visit Stanford shows that he’s sure his grades/test scores are good.

Kekoa – come get your peacocks out of my neighborhood! Noisy buggahs.

So UH will be playing all 3 service academies in 2013. As someone asked the other day, will we be eligible for the Commander’s Cup?

  224. Curt June 13, 2011 6:20 pm

  225. SteveM June 13, 2011 6:39 pm

Curt — did you see my reply to gigi on yesterday’s blog? (#75 at 10:35 AM). Regarding your Warrior Lounge dancing suggestion… 🙂

  226. A-House June 13, 2011 6:50 pm

    warriorsun:

  227. A-House June 13, 2011 6:53 pm

    mention of Pryor:

wonder how stupid Ohio State and the Sugar Bowl committee feel now that he is quiting “the” Ohio State after making the promise to return to OSU and serve his 5 game suspension so he could play in the 2011 “sugar”?

  228. A-House June 13, 2011 6:54 pm

What? He tapped on the glass? 😯

    😳

    left out this little detail

An off-duty trooper spotted the vehicle around 4:32 a.m. Sunday and obtained a radar reading of 118 mph.

  236. Slugger June 13, 2011 7:49 pm

Gimme the shirt so I can start training. I’ll give the shirt away if I win…

Going to watch my college buddy play golf tomorrow. He says he thinks he’s the oldest guy in the field at the Manoa Cup. All three women made the cut! Sorry to see that his son didn’t make it in the qualifiers today. Go, Jon!

  237. Slugger June 13, 2011 7:49 pm

Thanks for the roster, ST! Now to match the faces to the names… takes me a coupla of years. 🙂

  238. Derek June 13, 2011 7:52 pm

I count 92 on the roster. With the newcomers the team can have 105 for training camp. Some of the roster might be joining the team on the first day of school.

If Sparks commits to UH that would be 2 6’5″ offensive line players along with Dustin Adams.

Already committed are Scott Harding and Drew Loftus (walk-on). Looking at the roster it looks like we’re a little thin at cornerbacks. Good thing is that Mike Edwards is coming in to be in the mix. We look to be loaded in the offensive line, at least in numbers, but not in experience. I see that Austin Hansen is in there so that’s good. Who’s the back up punter?

Maybe we won’t have to punt this season!!!!!!! We’ll score every time. I think our defense will be the strength of the team, and hopefully with Dick Tomey coaching the special teams that we will be much improved in that area. We need great improvement in the return game.

I’m looking to have John Hardy-Tuliau to block a lot of kicks this year. That’s his specialty.

    Coach Tomey, turn him loose.

  239. el burro sabio June 13, 2011 8:03 pm

Drew Uperesa, Kahai Choy, Hogan Rosehill not on roster, among others

  240. Da Punchbowl Kid June 13, 2011 8:05 pm

    el burrio sabio –

I was just going to post the same thing.

Any updates on those players, Stephen?

  241. d1shima June 13, 2011 8:06 pm

Pretty exciting reading the roster…esp. on the defensive side of the ball!

  243. al June 13, 2011 8:13 pm

we seem light at cb, lb, wr.

at first i thought we needed more qb’s then i remembered that with higgins coming in july and the sleeper we should enough qb’s to throw to the sb and wr’s and the scout teaml.

  244. Darren June 13, 2011 8:13 pm

    So…Austin Hansen good to go?

  245. kailuaboys June 13, 2011 8:15 pm

TICKETS FOR THE UH–WA GAME (Sep.10)

Forwarding this offer from long time blogger tom-WarriorNation, who resides in San Francisco and is very active in the Bay Area UHAA and coordinating with Na Koa in road game activities.

Like Rich2176, he is offering the tickets at cost.

Discount tickets for UW game in Seattle Sept. 10

We can get a group rate at 35% off da regular price ($42 instead of $65)–so far we have about 33–let me know if anyone wants to join us–it will actually be more than 35% off because we get 2 free tickets with 20 or more). Email me at: tomkitaguchi (at) yahoo.com

Per the UW site: 2011 Husky Football Group Tickets will go on-sale August 1st. The group minimum purchase is 20 tickets to each game to receive group pricing and benefits. Groups of 20+ will receive 2 complimentary tickets with their order.

This gives you a good idea of the views in Husky stadium.

    http://www.gohuskies.com/recruits/huskystadium.html

    Map of the stadium:

    http://www.gohuskies.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/wash/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/stadium-map0727

The UW ticket office told me that the UH seating section will be somewhere in the West sections–where they put all visiting team fans. Our group rate will be either in this West section or Section 32, which is closer to the field.

Email Tom at the above address for more info, requests, and ticket payment/delivery .

#227 Sounds good to me. The Hale Koa Warrior Lounge is the best set up for gigi. It’s a good set up for karaoke and dancing. And of course, dinner is available across the hall at the Coco Cafe. We’ll have to wait until hubby gets his foot worked on and healed. Hopefully, he won’t be out for too long. Gigi, please keep us updated.

  251. Curt June 13, 2011 9:36 pm

    gigi

One of the other places that I think could work for you include the Elks Club. Augie Rey used to perform there regularly. Problem is you have to be sponsored in by a member. Another spot was the International Market Place up on the second floor in an informal, semi-open air bar. Don’t know the name but I think they may have closed down though. Their week-day and weekend musicians played a good variety of dance music.

  252. Curt June 13, 2011 9:45 pm

    SteveM

Al Waterson use to do karaoke on the second floor of a restaurant by Kewalo Basin. That was a good venue for karaoke and dancing. Last year, I saw him at Aloha Tower. Which reminds me, isn’t one of our new recruits related to Al Waterson?

  253. bigislandkurt June 13, 2011 9:48 pm

Austin Hansen good to go…..at least 5 games into the season though, I think that is what I read last. Think he is still going through some kind of an appeal to get that reduced. We’ll have him for at LEAST half the season.

    Rosehill? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

    BIK

  254. SteveM June 13, 2011 9:49 pm

    RE: #254

Curt — I dunno. Probably a question for Restaurant Boss Al

  255. Slugger June 13, 2011 9:53 pm

WooHoo! I get to caddy (driving the golf cart) for my friend Jon tomorrow! Just have to figure out how to drive a golf cart… If I can drive & parallel park a welding truck, I think I can drive a golf cart…

  257. Curt June 13, 2011 10:03 pm

I wonder if ST is doing an article in the paper tomorrow on Colt? It would nice to hear what’s up. He’s got some tough competition with Josh McGown (sp?) and the 6’6″ QB draftee.

  258. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 10:04 pm

Austin Hansen not good to go. But he’ll be activated sometime during the season. I think.

  259. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 10:05 pm

Have no idea why Rosehill is not listed. Hopefully, it’s an oversight. I “found” a training camp roster, and it includes Rosehill. But he’s not listed on the official site.

  260. Stephen Tsai June 13, 2011 10:06 pm

I think Hadden is the backup punter.

wow. did i scare everybody away?

  265. warriorsun June 13, 2011 10:53 pm

i cant remember a better 8-deep set of LBs coming out of spring. versatile group with great upsides. adding daley to the camp roster is pure frosting. they all can play. JMO, this is the best unit, top to bottom, on both sides of the ball. i bet many of these lbs will be used by tomey too.

DTs are second. it all bolds well for coach aranda.

  266. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 11:22 pm

If Alo and Sleeper (aka: Forcier) signs…we going to be 8 deep with QB’s. That should be more than enough I think. haha.

  267. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 11:30 pm

  268. warriorsun June 13, 2011 11:35 pm

dont anyone fantasize about our 2012 season just yet. it ranks right up there with the toughest road schedule ive seen for a Hawaii team.

we open with usc than hele over to provo. being on the road for two consecutive games against primo teams is bad enuff but scheduling one at sea level than going to lavelle edwards stadium the next week–has to be one of the no-nos in college football scheduling. high to low is ok, but low to high is brutal. we also play afa, csu, fsu and sdsu on the road.

sorry folks, our inaugural voyage into the mwc looks anything but inviting.

  269. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 11:38 pm

    #270,

Impossible to argue with you on that one. 2012 is going to be a kick in the face.

  270. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 11:42 pm

One thing we can do is give the most likely QB successor from our storage shed of 3837290437 quarterbacks some real game time reps in 2011.

  271. Ralph June 13, 2011 11:42 pm

It is reported that an employee at the U. of Oregon rented the car that Harris was ticketed in and she’s wasn’t one of the occupants.

    http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2011/06/cliff-harris-speeding-car-female-employee-oregon/1?loc=interstitialskip

  272. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 11:45 pm

    #273,

Kinda tired of all these NCAA violations for this and that already. The real question that needs to be answered is…what color and kind of car was he driving?

  273. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 13, 2011 11:47 pm

Would a player taking home the toilet paper rolls thrown onto the field at Aloha Stadium constitute receiving “improper benefits” ?

  274. warriorsun June 14, 2011 12:01 am

one can readily connect the dots on where chip kelly is headed on the harris mess-up–he left little for creative thought. for harris it was an expensive joy ride that he wont soon forget, but for the school employee, it maybe a lesson that will cost her a job.

What if Harris and this school employee were a couple? Wonder if that changes the definition of what improper benefits are. No pun intended.

  277. Slugger June 14, 2011 12:15 am

    Ralph,

You typically have to be 25 y.o. to rent a car… Looks like UoO has a real problem on their hands.

K, better get to bed. Have to be a caddie tomorrow. 😀

  278. warriorsun June 14, 2011 12:21 am

hope im wrong, but i see the current make-up that constitutes our qb unit as tossing more duds than bombs in our future. shotgun recruiting didnt work for weiss at nd and he recruited only the #1s. which brings up a point–it takes gifted insight to recruit a good qb….and, you still have to be lucky. positive side of the problem, u can tell rolo aint sleeping on the job bc he keeps bringin them in….when we strike the gold vein–we will all know it without being prompted.

Hey! I loved your post; it’s better than 90% of the other blog posts I read (and I mean it)! I couldn’t find a contact form so I hope you don’t mind me posting here. My hubby insisted for me to offer you some advice. Both of us have been into blogging since 2004, so it’s safe to say we’re a bit talented and skillful when it comes to blogging. Both of us have been able to live extremely comfortably just by posting on our blogs. I wanted to let you know there’s a couple changes you can make to your blog that would increase revenue by about triple whatever you’re making right now! There’s this site called http://massprofitingformula.com – it tripled (almost even quadrupled!) the revenue for all my blogs within just a couple days. Basically you just plug your site URL into the software, and using its tools it’ll generate a phenomenal amount of traffic and revenue. Cool, huh? I just learned about it a few days ago and I never plan on running a blog without it again. 😀 Take care and good luck!
