While the Warriors are making an aggressive pursuit of prep prospects, they also are saving some room for “rebounds.”
The Warriors have been successful in the past in gaining local players who went away to four-year schools and then decided to return home. The list includes Mark Tuinei, Clint Kuboyama, Lui Fuga, Laanui Correa, Wayne Hunter, David Veikune, Kealoha Pilares, Mana Silva and Kaniela Tuipulotu.

Am I !?
ST, Any thoughts or speculations as to who those rebounds may be?
Good morning!!
Good morning Tsaikos!
Happy Aloha Friday!
Congrats to the Wahine on their road win last night.
GO WARRIORS!
See you guys at the SSC tonight for some VOLLEYBALL!!!
5
Fifffffff! 🙂
Okay, sixt and sevent maybe.
Ocho
Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂
I imagine with Coach Chow at the helm, we’ll see a few bounce backs.
Top o’ the pre dawn darkness to Buff, bug, jm, jeez!
And you too, Ocho Rambo!
Running out of space quick, so you best hurry up and make a decision! Be the Warrior!
Good morning, gangees!
Shane…Shane….Come home, Shane….
or whatevah your name is… 😀
Eh, brah DPK!
Y’all have a good day now, ya hear!
shane? he’s the hs oline talent we pursue. no bounceback.
st…what a huge subliminal message!
huge in the literal sense of the word.
So, are rebounds also going to be announced on signing day? I realize that there would probably no truth to speculation but is there any possible guess as to who the rebound(s) may be?
Great Morning All!
Do they need to show a receipt?
Pac-12 rebounds baby!
mornin
Since Rebounds have to sit for a year any way what good would it do to save a schollie for them this class when they wouldn’t count towards it anyway?….unless there are rebounds who might have sat out already and are eligible this spring…..the suspense is killing me!!!
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Feb. 1 is so close … but the suspense is mounting too high!
a rebounder could also have graduated and play right away.
yup tommui…doesn’t it just make you want to have a nice thick juicy burger with all the good stuff and a heap load of fries!….?
al
What are you doing up so early?
Good road win for the Wahines. Gave up 21 offensive rebounds though.
I guess ST has done it again. Great start to a much anticipated weekend. So hungry (for information) you can taste it, but got to wait in line.
Nice tease, your bloggers are drooling with anticipation.
Damn,
Keoni Bush-Loo commits to Arizona…
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncfrecruiting/on-the-trail/post?id=7545&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fblog%2fncfrecruiting%2fon-the-trail%2fpost%3fid%3d7545
I guess we’re pretty set at TE now anyway. Good luck to Mr. Bush-Loo.
🙁
duffer…i do know why either. na wahine on a roll!
🙂
Wake up BigHiloFan…
News travels slow to New York. Bush-Loo declared such on Wednesday.
i should go back to bed…its cold outside.
hey…the gibber could use some rebounders, too.
In my opinion they should not let players come back if they recurited them and they decided not to come here. It would make players think twice about leaving the Island
Always nice to welcome home a prodigal son who slept with the pigs.
gib got plenty rebounders…could use some shooters…
graham– I guess you’ve never needed a second chance at anything huh?
Luke 15:
21And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
28And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
29And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
Amen…
Besides, I guess all of those rebounders ST mentioned never did anything for the program anyways right Graham?
I didn’t know that Kealoha Pilares was a rebounder. It seems like he played for UH for a very long time.
Pilares initially went to Air Force
AL: #23 M,T,Thurs? M,T so I can find out what the oracle said – and Thurs to confirm if the oracle was correct!
I think Kealoha went to Air Force prep academy so he was able to come back and play his full four years at UH.
if we can’t land that running back…we could still convert chinedu amadi and bubba poueu-luna to rb’s.
heck, just do it.
in the good old days there was nothing like flipping through your black book and finding a rebound.
Aloha Friday Tsaiko’s!
You are all invited over to the Ceded Lands tomorrow to check out the new KROC Center.
Grand opening at 10 AM. Just tell ’em “Kekoa” sent you. (DPK…bring Sweetikins and wear your Speedos with matching swim cap).
One of the coolest things about this huge multi-million dollar facility is the access to so many services for all ages.
no forget will gregory, st was high on him last season.
heard the kroc center get one 18-person jacuzzi. guess that means 9-tsaiko jacuzzi.
Yup Kekoa, looks great from afar. Can practically see it from my office window.
That’s what Facebook is for now. 😎 😆
Kevin, going be spooky looking up old flames and seeing how cruel the years have been to them. on the other hand, bald and rotund could be a turn off to them. 😆
that’s why good to have the good old days to look back on.
All I know is, if all the Tsaikos go into any of the pools, they better not exit all at one time, oddawise somebody diving or coming down the tube might get hurt when they hit bottom.
You call it spooky, I call it free amusement. 😆
Yes, don’t “burn the bridge” if they decide to leave. So much ca happen when the local kids go away. Wish them well and mention that the door is always open.
Couch Potato,
Das one sure way to get over the old flame. Although I’ve seen a couple that have aged very well. But den, my wife is 19 years younger than me, none of my “old” flames can beat that!
Are the rebounders also those who were offered scholies to other schools but later told that they will have to grayshirt or walkon to the program? So they choose to switch?
sometimes when i see them in person, i’m thinking *thank god i didn’t marry her* and she’s thinking *thank god i didn’t marry that fat slob*. 😆
Morning everyone.
looking forward to a great weekend and an eye popping feb. 1.
What’s your 40 time? 😉
Good morning everyone!
RE: #48
Couch Potato — Tsai-ko planning estimates for Cattle Calls averages only 50% extra space.
e.g. Seating for 15-16 needed for 10 Tsai-kos — and they all want end seats. 🙂
So should be able to fit at least 12 in a 18-person jacuzzi.
40. I am in no rush to get anywhere.
the thing about jacuzzi’s is you don’t know who made the fut bubble.
I thought all seats were “end” seats?
When you think about it, Hawai`i is the most difficult home in the US to leave. No place is like Hawai`i. No family, no food, no beach, no language. It goes on. My years away were brutal. You become the haole, the minority and no one knows how to classify you. The athletes going away deserve credit for taking this step in life. No matter where you go, your heart is still here. Let them go with encouragement and welcome them back when they choose to return. Go Chowarriors!
“Rebounders” as an example, like Pauly Asiata…..just saying. As an example, nothing implied….
Thank you for this excellent post. I’m a rapper who loves your site.
Speculating here, what about that big lineman who went to one of those UC schools and kept getting into trouble? Maybe his problem was when he went to order “hamburger steak, gravy all over”, they did not understand, and den they neva have mac salad with bes Foods (they use Miracle Whip, with sweet kine relesh). That would make any food lovin, large and still growning local boy upset.
Maybe he like come home, for one “You Hungry?” or Fat Boy plate lunch without the hassle, and some football under Coach Chow.
46…is KROC the acronym for
Kekoa’s
Recreational
Outdoor
Compound
or did the ray kroc foundation toss in some cash?
Problem is, if the big lineman isn’t academically up to snuff, he can’t play until he gets his grades in order. He’ll have to walk on, in that case.

Howzit, everyone!
Wow, nice, your new playground, Kekoa! Can’t wait to get back home for a visit! And I gotta stop in at Sumo’s (Kapolei) for another (char siu) fried rice plate. That’s my rebound! Going home for local food! If no can, then gotta at least make it to Vegas for the buffet lines… breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

Didn’t you say that your office was in Seattle? LOL!
I really adore the sport and can’t read enough about it! Thanks for sharing the information with me, I will return every month to read more. Thanks for this blog!
MIH ~ ..and just how is that young, beautiful bride of yours? Haven’t seen you folks since the mtg in Waikiki.
I need to come see you about a picture frame to be handmade. It’s approximately the size of the largest movie photos you see in the theater lobbies. Nothing fancy, just something to display it until I get tired of looking at it.
You should see some of the photos BarryM shot at the Pro Bowl practice session yesterday. Wow!…look like you were inside the action!
Great candid shots of the players and the fans just relaxing and enjoying each others company…as it should be. No pushing or shoving, just smooth and easy.
Kekoa,
email me with the dimensions.

WW ~ Sumu’s has called on me a few times this past month. Winter on da Wessai brings a little chill at night. Couple scoops later, dey make U stomach come warm!
id rather have rebounders than grayshirts. rebounders are known qualities with some college experience. we have always had rebounders, but i suspect, under Chow, it could be significant. REM Agenhart Ellis (Kam/KU) and Arnold Morgado (Pun/MSU)? Rebounders, both played in the hula bowl.
Since many local boys go to the PAC 12, there are many that may be nostalgic for Honolulu’s City lights. Here’s the problem, a rebounder must gain a release from his school. It could get nasty as Jeff Tedford, testy Golden Bear head coach demonstrated with SLHS athlete Scott Smith.
Rajah Dat MIH.

#76 Kekoa:
Nah, was only up there for the game. I’m a Kapolei-an…
kroc center = super duper YMCA?
scott smith was interested in being a rebounder…but the coach didn’t talk to him at all.
how’s that?
If you cannot rebound then you have to walk on. Earn it the hard way.
that sucks.
regarding ss.
{{{SHAKING HEAD}}}
I thought Scott Smith only received a limited release which allowed him contact with Arizona, Arizona State and Oregon, only?

Ipu Man ~ Supah Dupah ‘Y’ is a perfect description. They added all the stuff we wish we had in our ‘Y’ back in the dark ages.
BTW – My Brother-in-law is known as the Ipu Man in Sacramento. He makes all different size Ipu’s for the Halau participants on the West Coast.
Some of the Tsaiko’s have an example of his handi-work. Are you involved in crafting Ipu’s here at home?
TGIF — It’s a BIG weekend, so let the games begin as recruits are treated to a bit of Aloha and hopefully, some will choose to become Warriors. Dunno about rebounders as they can bounce all around the place, for the ones that are “certain” they want to be Warriors, we welcome them to the Ohana!
Imua Warriors!
Kekoa,
Fine print regarding your 2nd Mortgage have been sent..
Throughout the great pattern of things you secure an A for effort and hard work. Where you actually misplaced everybody was in your facts. As as the maxim goes, details make or break the argument.. And that could not be much more correct here. Having said that, permit me inform you just what did deliver the results. Your writing can be extremely persuasive and this is probably the reason why I am taking the effort in order to comment. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, whilst I can easily notice the leaps in reason you come up with, I am not necessarily certain of just how you seem to connect your ideas which produce the final result. For now I shall subscribe to your issue but trust in the foreseeable future you link your dots much better.
Kekoa, I made a lot of ipu lamps here in Hawaii. But got the idea for my name from a faux stained glass I did of a Hawaiian in a bamboo forest with an ipu in his hands. In fact, started today to make another one which I will show at next year’s Christmas craft show. Warm
regards to you and your brother, the ipu man.
🙂
Re #85: That’s why the local guys who want to go Mainland & think “the grass is greener on the other side,” better think twice & choose wisely. Nowadays, may not always be easy to come back to the home team after a decision is made.

well at least i didn’t instigate today’s politic banter.
Weekend at last!
kevin, neva say that. starting march 1st, when you go to renew your driver’s license, you got to bring your birth certificate, and the legal papers if you married or divorced. if you go there to re-register, they will deny you. how’s that for our legislature????
i was wondering why whenever the legislature meets, the old timers use to say “shibai”.
i think it’s march 5th. it’s just a part of the federally mandated real id act. somewhere along the line this was bound to happen.
Anyone have a list of who is tripping this weekend to UH?
Whitey,
No worries, I don’t have to renew my license until 2014 but then again…pau so no worries. 😎
oh, and no forget your ss card too.
Kevin, lol.
i don’t have a list but i’m sure the coaches have one and maybe al has another.

This is funny….
A MN Trooper related (I’m abridging because I can’t cut and paste):
I made a traffic stop on an elderly lady the other day for speeding.
I asked her for her License, Registration and Proof of Insurance.
She obliged with all the requested documents. In the documents I was surprised to see (because of her advanced age) a Concealed Carry Permit.
I looked at her and asked if she had a weapon in her possession at that time.
She said she indeed had a .45 automatic in the glove box.
Something about her demeanor made me ask if she had any other weapons.
She admitted that she had a 9mm Glock in her center console.
I had to ask her to tell me if that was all.
She responded that she had one more – a .38 Special in her handbag.
I asked her what she was so afraid of.
She said, “Not a f*@$#n’ thing!”
Boy you guys are getting antsy waiting for Wednesday since nothing to contribute but smiley faces
Thx, coachpotato & d1shima. Think that should do it for my lessons for today. Do not think this old brain can handle any more. 😀
What is so awesome about John Mizuno’s proposal that is so facist and scary to our individual rights.
this pac-12 player needed to talk to the coach so he called his house. the coach’s wife answered the phone and said the coach is not home yet but i’ll tell him to call you. what is your number? five.
cp, you neba no, might be fun to talk to mrs chow.
i think she must have sum guud ones up her sleeve.

Alex Green has landed.
Or so he tweets.
d1shima, obviously someone told him.

They have the same shoes over and over again. LOL
Bryson, just wondering, did you come across that ESPN rumor (#162) somewhere on the Net, or is that speculation based on the Sports by Brooks article?
Mr. A. Wiley’s running style reminds me of two famous runners when they were in college, Gale Sayers (Kansas) and O.J. Simpson (USC). He runs without any effort and simply makes people miss him. He seems to have terrific vision and that burst of speed that is almost undetectable. I think he could do this at the college level with a creative offensive scheme (like Coach Chow’s) and a few more speed/power muscles he’ll grow into.
I believe he would be the prize of the 2012 graduating HS football class.
He would look spectacular is dark green and black. With a stellar run blocking line, an offense that uses H-back, T/E and fullbacks in different run/pass schemes, a gifted runner could be simply electric.
It would be a great catch to get him to commit to Uncle Norm.
Hawaii Mongoose,
Just thinking out loud…but the inning does seem impeccable for TV deals to be restructured…
Thanks Bryson. I’m hoping ESPN, CBS, NBC and Fox all decide they’d like to bid on a TV deal with the merged conference, and drive up the payment amount to the members.
Al
looking to the future, watch Kamehameha’s Keaau Chase Peneku, 3.6 gpa. 5-9″‘ 175lbs. 14 yrs old, maybe 15 i dunno. 100m winner last year running back.
Thank you for sharing this, really appreciate the quality info.

Aofaga wily….kahuku hs 2013
#179 oldtimer808, I may be misspelling and I’ll apologize ahead of my attempt. Aufoga Wiley and he is a junior at Kahuku HS. My personal classification of him is a tough and “beautiful” runner. As you can see, he is my favorite HS player who has yet to graduate.
Thanks, Al. And my apology for the misspell.
Hmm Well I was just searching on yahoo and just came across your site, mostly I just only visit sites and retrieve my needed info but this time the useful info that you posted in this post urged me to post here and appreciate your diligent work. I just bookmarked your site. Thank you again.
“…As I’ve said earlier, it is an exciting time. But, the enthusiasm has to be tempered by understanding the task that is at hand. The hard work that’s gonna be necessary to compete in the Coliseum. I’ve competed in the Coliseum many a time. And I understand in a couple of weeks it’s BYU in Provo. I get that. I get that. I’ve been coaching for a long time. But, how much more exciting does it get than that? How much of a bigger challenge do you want? And if you didn’t like challenges you shouldn’t be in the business.
You shouldn’t be in the business.”
~Norm Chow
great comments!
truly outstanding. I’m so excited I finally found this!
…now if I could just find the right shoe! 😆
Yes another Kahuku running back from a long line of good runners to come out of the North shore. I hope his academics are realistically up to standards and able to handle college.

I did not want to bring up any names in respect to past student/athletes and the integrity of the school which would not be fair to all the other student/athletes on the North shore who have gone on to do well at the many colleges.
great site!! You could start many more. I love all the info provided. I will stay tuned.
Right on Erin. Thanks for staying tuned.

oldtimer,
There was undoubtedly great pressure to break the stranglehold on state titles, both real and de facto, back then.
Hey, you should take a look at GradeGigs – it’s a website that allows students to pay each other for doing each others homework: http://www.gradegigs.com
In addition to Oline (where Warriors lost 6 former starters – Faaumu, Laurel, Lefiti, Leonard, Sapolu, Hansen), JMHO but still need some recruits at the DT position (since lost 3 former starters – Masch, Meotoga, Tuipulotu; and only 5 DTs returning on the roster – Correa, Hanohano, Samia, Matagiese, Friel).
Kinda wondering since not hearing anything about any possible DT prospects being recruited or tripping this weekend. Not sure what’s up with Sione Lavaka (who committed before coaching change), but other JC DT prospects (Gauta & Pennel) have already committed elsewhere and no top Class of 2012 local high school DT prospects available.
203. i’m kinda wondering too.
i find solace in 184. and being a Chowaiian.
Kapakahi – Will the Warriors being playing a 4-3 or 3-4, if they will be using the latter, then they only need 5 DT or NG.
this is what Anthony Fletcher’s Deseret High School Az Blog is saying about Dustin Adams.
Dustin Adams, no doubt NIU is a very good program. you will be very welcome in Hawaii. and you will find yourself extremely well coached, motivated, and learn discipline at the level of #184 above, the Norm Chow level.
Dustin Adams. read 184 above. you’ll never find that level of preparation, the Norm Chow level of preparation, at NIU. read Coach Chow’s bio. listen to his former players. learn why Utah recruits are coming to Hawaii. the ballers want to play for Chow.
thats the facts.
That Ursua is some athlete. The kid is a heck of a point guard. Coach Gibb could use that boy. He could play wide receiver or a running back.
the fact that mums the word gives me the feeling that Dustin Adams is thinking long and hard about his future.
bottom line, he knows what I said is true. Coach Chow and his crew are bringing excitement to Hawaii football. But one player from the great state will not make or break us.
on the other hand, Coach Chow could make a great player from the great state of N Dakota.
been there done that.
i was looking at UH’s future schedules for the next three years. UW, OSU, Colo, USC, Boise, Nevada, BYU, etc etc.
yup, very exciting times. every body gotta up their game.
c’mon Jimmy D. schedule samoa. 😀
give Coach Chow da big time!
kden got work in da am
no rest fo da … uh. uh. UH.
the big thing Dustin gonna hafta get used to is da second language. 😀 😆
bhf2 – Could it be that he does not think he is good enough to get to the next level. As Coach Chow said from the beginning, he ONLY wants players that believe they can play at the next level, meaning the NFL. 🙂
hey Dustin. i’mma product ah da white people, an da brown people, da yella people, an da Irish people. 😀 das why i get all kindsa bifdays. March 17 (Irish), June 14 (Hawn) Jan sumtin (chinee changee)…. Sept (my real birfday).
so no make funna our differen peeps. 😀 we all make funna our differences. no biggie.
welcome welcome. hope you come join us. you’ll be happy at Aloha Stadium because with you we’re gonna pack da 50K joint.
Some bad news with DL prospect Alonzo Williams (Long Beach Poly, Calif.)….tripping to Texas A&M this weekend instead of UH….with decision down to Texas A&M and U-Dub….

i wuz tinkin doze same thoughts. i dunno. i’m givin da brudda da bestest of vibes. he’s got da size. and he would get da coaching and motivation that could help him get to the next level. hard for a 18 year old to know for himself if he can make the next level, the only way to find out is combat testing.
i figure life owes him the chance. his family got ruined by nature recently. hard times. he definitely would be desreving of a opportunity in life.
and since we know Coach Chow went all day way to Minot, da land of the big blow (was there in ’71 in July on a drive across country across the top on Route 2), i have a preference for Minot’s windy prarie. 😀 and wishing da best for their finest big boy.
he could be one pf the few, the proud, the
i no we no need errybody commit. but we gotta give Coach Chow to know we got his back, gonna support him from da getgo.
i’m coming to da games. lst alternative is to kick cuz’ kid to da curb, take over her bed; back up plan is fo sleep on cuz’ floor. 😆 anyway, drag his sorry behind to da games, yella fo Coach to kick sum behind 😀

good nite y’all. but befo i go, Jimmy D. suggest to Guv dat he gotta get mo involved in getting da Legislature for put da spread out for UH Football. It takes a village. Warrior backup means Pro Bowl backup. everybody gotta help out coach Chow. everybody.
don’t let anodda JJ development.
we cannot go halfway with UH Football. we NEED UH football to be at da top of its game.
its like driving a really nice car. we all benefit from having a beauty in our driveway. and not a piece of krap. we all get habut wit junk. no pride. no feeling of family. no support. and we all end up playing golf. tennis. watching tv. no mo class dat kine. no can. no can.
bhf2 (215) – I’ve been to SD also, back in 2000. If he or any other recruit wants to play at the next level, they need to come under Coach Chow’s wings. He will make sure they have more then a token shot at playing in the NFL.
Hello
#205. Steve,
Actually if Warriors switch from 4-3 to 3-4, JMHO that Warriors will still need to recruit at least one more NG since probably only Hanohano & possibly Matagiese could adjust to playing NG since Correa, Samia, Friel are probably better suited to play DEs (as they are all former high school DEs) since returning DEs (Falemalu, Woodard, Yap, Malepeai, Cravens, Dean) just aren’t as big as the past Warrior DEs (Ikaika Alama-Francis, Melila Purcell, Amani Purcell, Reynolds Fruean) that last time Warriors lined up in 3-4 in 2006 under DC Jerry Glanville.
Hi everyone, just wanted to ask you to please come out if you have time tomorrow and support PIAA at the PIAA Madden Tournament at The Villa at Aloha Tower Marketplace. Just by coming out and having lunch would be great. If you can play, play – come early, chance to win $500. Or bid to play with one of the guys, Highest bid was on Kealoha Pilares!(Go Damien!), still a chance to bid on other players at the event. Manuwai, Brennan, Estes, Satele, Lauvao, Grice-Mullins, Meatoga, Paredes, Owens – all helping us out.

Tyler Taumua from Farrington is a pretty impressive running back himself. He hits the hole really quick and has decent speed. I think he would be a great college recruit next year.
Kapakahi – Maybe Chow is thinking of using smaller, faster, DL’s, just like the military academy’s use. Air Force and Navy, have done quite well, with smaller DL’s.
nice job you’ve done. Good content and i enjoy spending 15 minutes a day reading all the new posts. Great job, thanx !!
hello from Utah 😉

Hipolito are you related Trevor?
Printers use a different mix of dyes–cyan-, magenta, etc. These colors combined work best in their process. diablo 3 gold
It is a popularity contest until the last couple of weeks. There is no chemistry with Max and Hope….un-like last season with Kristie…The final couples will be Derek and Ricki, JR and Karina and maybe Max and Hope.diablo 3 gold
