On the line
It appears that Kapua Sai has earned the final No. 1 spot on the offensive line, claiming the left guard’s job.
That allows Mike Milovale to become the floater. He practiced as the No. 2 right tackle yesterday.
With the opener a week away, the Warriors will tone down practice today, giving the scout players more reps. The Warriors have tomorrow off, and will have only meetings and conditioning drills on Monday. That will give the starters nearly three days of rest before resuming full workouts on Tuesday.

Birthday wishes to Greg Salas, Leonard Lau and Tommy Heffernan.

Work hard
Congratulations to Kapua Sai! It is good that Milovale is versatile, as UH will need depth to rest players and handle for injuries.
Looks like we’re thin on the OL again this year…
How is jD’s kid doing? Is he on the squad?
hmmmm…
Howzit, everyone!
Just got back from spending a few hours out at the first ever (Poly)’Nezian Fest out here in Georgia. Good food, old and new friends, lost of entertainment… and really hot. Only complaint… not enough shade for everyone. Two tents, no clouds, 88 degrees by the time we left. Shave Ice would have been good too, but the vendor is only scheduled for tomorrow, not today. Oh well. Was fun anyways.
Got to enjoy some laulau, lomi salmon, etc. from fellow Georgia Tsai-ko, Bruddah Bobby. Will send ST a pic later… gotta cool down now.
Happy birthday to all da Birthday Peeps!!! Enjoy your day!
top 10.
versatilty helps the team greatly
That allows Mike Milovale to become the floater. He practiced as the No. 2 right tackle yesterday.
good morning Tsaikos.
congrats oline Sai, Milovale. gonna need you both.
Go Warriors!
Morning x2 folks!
d1shima,
It is interesting to follow the daily changes in the UH-USC game as the bettors put their money down. The money line jump up big today so things are:
+40 (William Hill’s line went up to 40.5, I’m guessing money is heavy on USC)
+29250
I wish I was in Vegas to take advantage of these lines, but I’m posting from our garage sale.
http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/line-movement/hawaii-manoa-@-southern-california.cfm/date/9-01-12/time/1930#BT
We’re counting on you Kapua Sai!
Happy Birthday wishes to Greg Salas, Leonard Lau and Tommy Heffernan!
It is interesting to see how much Boise State got the Big East to pay for their Big West entry:
Big East will pay $2 mil of their $2.5 mil entry fee to the Big West
Big East will pay half of their travel subsidy for the first 2 years (the new TV contract will kick in after that), Big East pays $385k and Boise State pays $385k

Good Morning Everyone!
SteveM and I are cruising back from Vancouver to Honolulu on
Sept. 30/12 and would like to get together with the Tsai-kos
on Oct. 2, Tuesday at 7 pm. We will request Art or Gaye to
reserve an area for our “Dutch Treat Get Together”. Please
let us know that if you will be joining us. Dessert to be
served after dinner. Thank you.
Cheers,

I’m glad that UH got the Big West to agree that schools entering after UH don’t get a travel subsidy–so, no travel subsidy to SDSU and BSU.
Boise State’s exit fee starts at just $1.5 mil and goes down $250k per year until it drops to $250k. That is a tiny exit fee that Boise State will pay whenever it wants to leave. $250k is not going to stop anyone from leaving the Big West…
SDSU got into the Big East for football because Boise State picked them.
Boise State got into the Big West because SDSU pushed for them. It is interesting that if SDSU leaves the Big West then the Big West can kick Boise State out with 2 years notice.
Bad news on Ryan Mouton. I hope that he recovers completely soon and that his concussion was as mild a level as possible.
Up to 40 now…okay that means more shock and awe
Hi, Garret, good to see posting. Good luck with your garage sale.
It is no surprise to me that Pisa’s cousin picked up football so quickly. I’d love to see him on the DL for UH someday.
Go Warriors!
Beat USC!
Aloha Neil Armstrong..moonwalker once again.
Healing prayers for Ryan Mouton, get well soon!
Condolences to Neil Armstrong’s Ohana.
WarriorMojo,
My wife just pointed out that we have already made about 3x what I told her I thought we would make. I shouldn’t complain, I have time to sit now and blog since the rush of people seems to be over.
USC CB really messed up on his schoolwork–not only can he not play this season, they took away his scholarship! He’s a senior so I think his only option to play is to go to D-IAA. They lost that CB but they just got a CB and LB cleared to play.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/usc/la-sp-0825-usc-football-20120825,0,4733499.story
The CB that USC just got academically cleared had to miss last season due to academics. Congratulations to him for getting his grades in order.
USC”s starting MLB is out with injury so they are moving an OLB to MLB for the UH game.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/usc/la-sp-0824-usc-football-20120824,0,3160633.story
USC is one of those schools where if you lose your starting position to injury, you’re not likely to regain it due to the large number of talented players waiting in the wings.
Too bad both SDU and BSU are headed for the same conference, otherwise, I’m sure the BW wouldn’t have budged in allowing BSU entry into the league.
That being said…..yesterdays ESPNU, discussion was not at all favorable towards the BigEast in 2012/13, and beyond. Noting that even with new additions; do not feel a move upward.
Good Morning Gangeez!
Not a big fan of garage sales in general, but would love to have seen the stuff at YOUR sale, Garret. π Any Star Wars prototype stuff or strictly houshold items?
Old School Dave,
That is normally the case, but USC has much less depth than they normally have because they have a limited number of scholarship players due to their NCAA punishment. Injuries are that much bigger of a factor for them now because they have less players.
DPK,
Lots of girl clothing that my girls outgrew, lots of books for younger kids, and lots of stuffed animals. Having girls (who refuse to even watch a single Star Wars movie) is very different than having boys…
One more week until the date with destiny. Shock the Woild I tell ya! Just shock it!
Congratz to Kapua – enjoyed watchin’ his Dad on the telly last night.
Countin’ on the Oline to be a big part of that Woild shockin’ goin on next week!
SHOCK THE WORLD!!!
GO O LINE!!!
GO WARRIORS!!!
Now, now, Garret, don’t be making excuses for USC for when they start whining
why they lost to lowly Hawaii…
Good morning everyone!
Hmmm, Dory is lurking and posting.
She loves surprises π― but I requested no secret surprise parties… mainly because many good friends she did not know were not invited last time. So now everything from her is posted and “advertised”.
….as far as I know, anyway π
RIP Neil Armstrong.
mctruck,
I wouldn’t trust too much of what ESPN says about the Big East. ESPN has had the Big East TV rights for years, but they know that they will be likely losing the Big East’s TV deal and one of their competitors will get all of that TV inventory. ESPN has a vested interest in slamming the Big East because it drives down the TV value if the Big East wants to extend their ESPN deal (only ESPN gets to negotiate with the Big East starting next week) and it lessens the perceived value of a conference that ESPN will probably lose.
A writer for ESPN even published a column this week about how ESPN is trying to hurt the Big East. The ACC added 2 Big East schools last year because they said that ESPN told them to.
The writing on the wall says that ESPN won’t have the Big East for much longer. It is *not* a coincidence that ESPN’s negativity towards the Big East started after the Big East rejected ESPN’s offer of more than *$1 bil* because they thought they could get more money from one of ESPN’s competitors (*cough*, NBC, *cough*).
Not surprised that Kapua got the spot. After all he did play for Chow last year and knows his offence. Also he is the most capable of being a mature leader on the o-line
So Garret didja post a Pomai prediction yet?
Good front page Star-Advertiser article by Ferd Lewis today. Another shoe falls…

Academics are taking their toll on SC. Their #1 CB is out for the season for grades. 2 others are on a tightrope.
Schollie issue still a bit of a problem. Uncertainties can disrupt the vibes. Just ask BHF2.
Props to USC and their AD. They’ve always been willing to schedule games with UH over the years. Stark contrast to the people up at UCLA.
Speaking of which the media seems to be so impressed with UCLA HC Jim Mora – Sporting News ranked him something like the 5th best new hire in Div I Football this season which is pretty impressive for a failed NFL HC and someone who has no college coaching experience. My impression of Mora is of when he lost it in a radio interview on ESPN when asked a question about Michael Vick when he was the coach of the Falcons. Sounded like a real jerk, Mora did.
I don”t wanna see Ryann’s bIrth. Err. I was a see MR”s.tax returns.

Garret,

…btw, I hope you folks get one nice new garage picked out for after you sell yours.

Okay. California scores 10 runs in the last inning to tie game at 15 – 15.
Tennessee scores 9 (so far) in extra inning, leads 24 – 15.
Too bad guys forego solid careers in the CFL to be something they are not. I am glad Chad Owens didn’t make that mistake.
Armstrong making footprints all over the universe.
Whoo-hoo!!!
Happy birthday to the birthday folks.
Congratulations Soccer Wahine!
Didn’t Arizona St. beat USC by 20 last year??? Utah was a field goal away from tying in the closing moments… Minnesota lost by 2….

Recap of the mock game that USC had today.
http://reignoftroy.com/2012/08/25/usc-football-fall-camp-mock-game-recap/
Just came home from fishing and saw UH playing BYU on TV, and then remembered that I did not get to see that game. Since it is on the BYU Channel, I’m sure it is a win for BYU. However, it makes me very happy to see how developed David Graves was in just his second start as a warrior. God Bless the Warriors one and all – Geevum!!!
#86 A-House. Mahalo for Puuhale Elementary work. Howz UH rock garden this year?
Pomai, Chow knows USC and is a superior Coach to Kiffin. USC is not number one pre-season for nothing, but i predict the Warriors will roll up an equal number of yards on offense, but come up short on the scoreboard. UH 20 – USC 35

Happy birthday, Greg, Tommy & Leonard!!!
Complete healing energy to Ryan Mouton.
Hawaii fans…what color is UH wearing at the Coliseum? White or green?
If you are staying near USC be careful at nights. Especially if you are staying at any of the hotels near the Galen Center. Women should not be alone if possible walking.
If you want to go to Kings Bakery on Sepulveda in Torrance usual wait time for kau kau at least 30 minutes. If you just want a plate lunch there is a 2nd location in Gardena/ Torrance area. Lots of L&L places all over. Coach Chow usual Sunday is Temple then folks go to Back Home in Lahaina in Manhattan Beach.
Let me say this…what USC did to Norm Chow…they got some karma coming their way! Believe people as he knows Lame Kiffen…yes folks in LA call him Lame… playbook better then anyone in Coaching. USC has lost
depth. Big time. Whoever was posting about Jim Mora not being that good…look at Lame Kiffen! He is the only person to have FAILED his way to the top. USC fans still pissed off that Norm Chow would not go back to USC.
Heading back to LA tomorrow. Got to get the house ready for all the house guests coming to see the game. If you are flying to LA…safe travels to all of you.

yes I am very excited for our Warriors. 93,000 cheering fans going nuts. I keep thinking about Gladiator. turn the crowd into believers of Warrior football.
Go Warriors. rip sum for yourselves!
imagine if we could’ve gotten a game with UCLA this year. We both have bye weeks October 20th. Now that too would’ve made for an interesting return for Chow along with his battle vs USC.
Let me not forget…..Shock Da World Warriors!
very number of web sites which can be positioned below, by way of our viewpoint are definitely well price browsing

Someone chime in if they know, but how in the hell did we get Lamar on our schedule? Is it getting that tough to get schools to play here that we have to settle for that? Or is it we just needed a better connected and stronger AD?
Day by Day,
Play by the Rules.
Chase Championships!
Watch our Warriors.
Gooooooooooooooo Warriors!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Coach Chow. I’ll do what I can for the team this year.
paintslinger,
we play USC Army BYU here next year. We play Wash, Ore St here 2014.
Jim Donovan did good in those areas. my feeling, but i not positive, is we had alot of hakaka going on in 2011 at UH — trying to get into the MWC, the “heads” as in plural trying fo hog cheese the mike for claim credit for getting into the MWC, the “vibe” from the on high. maybe MRC had da mike, but dare was definitely a feeling of back boy action. peeps dat know brudda from back in da day remember his action and there is definitely a feeling that he like be boss. for me, i no care. if Coach Chow is happy, imma happy.
we coulda gone Notre Dame this year for a 13th game, but we neva because all the ducks wasn’t lined up, if you rememba da paypah. and ifn you was a big school, why would you come Hawaii on last minute notice? for whats in it for you?
in terms of coming Aloha Stadium, i say we give Norm Chow chance for do things his way, get people to come here. He got one most excellent staff. He getting most excellent recruits. And he no scared, not taking his Social Security and running to retirement. He is gonna drive Hawaii to either hell or high water. I’m jact. I’m liking it!
Great Morning All!
It’s Game Week!

d1shima,
I can tell how the casinos that advertise heavily to Southern California visitors (which are more likely to include USC fans) have been getting more money bet on USC than some of the other casinos.
The line at Southpoint and all of the Station Casinos is USC -41, but the line at the Stratosphere, MGM/Mirage, and Caesar’s/Harrahs is USC -40.
The LA Times sure doesn’t think much of UH…and SoCal recruits and their families read papers like this.
Here is the LA Times report on USC’s Mock Game. USC wanted to duplicate the game-day experience so they actually had the team stay at a hotel on Friday night, just like the team stays at that hotel the night before each of their home games.
Interesting tidbit about Matt Barkley:

Lockah Room Wall material!
….speaking of Station Casinos.
Was watching the Bishop Gorman game on ESPN3 and one of their players is the son of Station’s CEO!
I guess the school really is a money magnet….nice stadium!
ok. we can go fo da 100th Btn, 442 Inf. Fight Song, or we can go for da here and now.

As a Warrior Fan that hurt my fingers to type. But since its the first live game the Warriors will have a hard time playing with instinct and fast while adjusting to a new offense and defense schemes. But by the Nevada game it will be on and many Warrior wins. Go Warriors
