Observing the 25 limit
An NCAA amendment apparently limits a team to sending out 25 letters of intent for next week’s signing day.
The rule was intended to prevent schools from trying to over-sign.
It should be interesting to see what happens with grayshirts or players going on church missions. In the past, a player had to wait until his 19th birthday to go on a mission, enabling him to attend college for a year. Now a mission can begin a year earlier. At least one UH recruit is expected to go on a mission; at least two others will grayshirt.
* * * * *
The UH coaches are in Florida today doing home visits with prospects and their families.
* * * * *
The Warriors will wait until after the recruiting season to fill the offensive coordinator’s position. There also is no rush to fill the vacant graduate assistant’s job.

It’s still not too late to get a seat at tonight’s volleyball Warriors’ scholarship dinner.

Good Morning.
UH Warrior fan for LIFE!!
Nice interview this morning ST…
4. What was said?
i thought the UH had more than 25 commits.
oops 3.
the radio is usually a day behind (they’re not smart enough to read the Warrior Beat), so boobie curran probably talked about the BYWho game, the OC position and recruiting.
ST,
After sending out the initial 25 this week, can they fax additional letters on signing day if someone doesn’t sign?
Sounds confusing. Is the NCAA just trying to be “Wiley?” haha
gobows,
Bobby not here. Its Scott Robbs and Steve Murray on the radio.
hmmm to the NCAA new rule. The coaches are still working hard on recruiting.
Ohayoooooooooo
# # #
If you look at the Scout.com commit list, many of the schools have over 25 commits. Michigan has 27, Texas A&M has 32, Georgia 29. etc. Don’t know if these are grey shirts or whatever. But the commits will still need to sign something never the less. How will the BCS schools get around this rule?
ST & Tsaiko Blog Dogs:
Some of the 1420 listeners did not get ST’s subliminal message.
What was the message? I neva listen to the show.
BTW, whenever I go to Kaneohe 24hr Fitness, I see Curran working out and no one, absolutely no one approachs or talks to him – yet, can see his face that he expects recognition whenever someone walks by – kinda funny!
UH may have more than the 25 “limit”, but TTBOMK, a coach has never taken away a scholarship offer just because a “better athlete” decided to accept an offer.
am I wrong?
ahouse…i am impressed by your use of such up to date internet acronyms.
I am impressed by AHouse’s knowledge also but I had to think about what it meant. I finally got it.
#15 . . .
Mrs. A-House?
Cannot be, though.
A typo exists.
So much for today’s haiku.
Was it as proportional to Roniah’s “romance” mention on the forthcoming Dr. Phil?
How many of ypuse Manti supporters have a similar yen for romancing jers’ # 5?
With the NCAA imposed 25 signing limit, I see the Warriors have a problem. Even with one expected to go on a mission and two or three greyshirts, Warriors have “signed” at least 26 included the latest long snapper. Plus with the expectation of signing Wiley, then what is Chow and company doing in Florida? Just visiting families of players already committed? I know it will become clear on signing day, but this is confusing, but interesting.
@#16 al: Did A-House use an acronym or was it an initialism? I always get confused between the two.
I get the feeling Stephen is not all that impressed with Ben Jay. At least not what Jay posts on his twitter account. However, I must say Jay has been rather silent since his first day on the job.
@#19 Chix: As ST put it “..that’s a Wiley question”. For diehard Warrior Fans it is of greater proportion than the doctor’s probing.
Good morning Tsaikos!
GO WARRIORS!
GO WAHINE!

oh yeah, mens bb is on the road…Scott Robbs is cool, wonder why Don Robbs wasn’t doing the 1420AM football pregame show this past season.
#14
that’s exactly how an obnoxious, rude jerk should be treated in public.
regarding scott robbs…how many out there feel that he should be doing the play by play announcing of the televised mvb matches?
i mean, howard dashefsky is a nice sort, but, volley he is lost.
As far as Curran goes as a football play by play man, he sucks. Play going on and not giving details as it unfolds. No excitement and visualization of what is happening. He does not help to sell tickets. Think about it if he can make it so exciting that people listening would say, I got to go to UH football games.
As far as his radio show I don’t listen to it.
As far as people going up to him in person, he should be happy no one would want to approach him in public. Can maintain his private life and not have wondering mind and eyes preying on him.
As far as a person I do not know his character but I would give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is a good and positive person.
Annoddah Dave:
TTBOMK =s to the best of my knowledge
it just popped into my head
innovative “loi’s” will prevail.
aren’t the mid-year transfers not subject to the 25 count for 2013?
won’t greyshirts become scholarship agreements?
…just wondering out loud.
so which or what “wiley” do some speak of?
i know one “wiley” as in coyote.
and then one “wily” as is need to get running back.
Florida. Alrighty then!
GO VOLLEYBOWS!
in the end, the wily will have to pick between…
one, the main church/university in utah and his uncles
or
two, where his heart is; that is home, his family, and his home church.
GOOD MORNING HAWAII – and good morning Mr.Kimura. Goof-off day today?
the UH AD Ben Jay came from Ohio State, whose president is named E. Gordon Gee. what’s between Gee and Jay…HI.
he is an important get in my eyes because of two things…
one, we need to keep byu away from our north shore
two, we need to establish a strong foothold in laie
three, aofaga is just a very talented running back who would flourish in this offense with his multiple skills.
four, we need a home town hero on offense so that we can fill up our lungs on every big td that he will score.
Good morning everyone!
NCAA limit sounds good in principle, but how are they going to monitor and enforce it? What is the penalty?
al:
#35 – you say 2, but eye count 4 – dats OK!
#36
penalty depends on how much the athletic budget is for the offending institution. BCS level schools: slap on the wrist, all others: loss of scholarships, bowl ban, probation, etc.
#37
you get 2 and you get 2 free
Interesting to see how things unfold with Faga. With the addition of both Marky and Robert Anae on staff I’m sure BYU will put forth a more concerted effort to make the North Shore a stronghold. After all, it’s one thing to have coaches from the home university recruit you even if they are local. But it’s a whole different ball game when you have community legends/high school alumni recruiting you (albeit for a different team, but a church school nonetheless) – especially when the coaches in reference are related to half the community and you respectfully refer to them as Uncle.

Heh. “Wiley,” eh?
Rainbow Wahine picked to win 2013 Big West Softball Title edging out 2012 champion Long Beach State by 3 points 76-73, each had 4 1st place votes. Pacific had the other 1st place vote, and was 3rd with 58 pts.

The Manti story is getting more and more weird. Yes, Manti got duped. But for RT to say he is possibly a swith-hitter and has romantic feelings for Manti, it just made life even tougher for Teo in the NFL. Can you imagine the teasing by the dudes up there? No mercy, man!
Sad if Mr. Tsai cannot get along w/Ben Jay.
Are you sure? He’s on the radio, after all. He only kidding himself if he think e’rbody know how he looks.
Interesting…

Shoko, Ben Jay started his tenure at UH on January 15, be patient…I’m sure he has lots of reading to do to catch up, people to meet and settle in his office.
Former Warrior Dan Kelly arrested.

Bravo Ferd Lewis!
Just read the hard copy S-A over brunch. Yup, UH needs to keep the 13th game. Mostly for revenue reasons, partly for the fans (read: season ticket holders–uhhhh, more revue reasons).
This is the time for AD Ben Jay to show his mettle. Write another page in UH history or wimp out.
You would think that he would consult with the long-time sports media people–especially ST, who has a 25+ year perspective of writing (and most times judiciously not writing) about UH sports. ST probably knows where all the pits, traps, caveats, and skeletons are in the lower campus too.

which tweeter account?
because the @HawaiiManoaAD has been very active.

BJ has been quite busy in the business community according to his tweets.
Do we still have a basketball team? Only seen 1 away game on TV. What’s up with that?
You have brunch SteveM? Heh, the cencept of “brunch” reminds a Grease of how Rachel Maron didn’t want to change her weekly brunch date in The Bodyguard.
What is the status of Simeon Thomas? Are we signing him? Also, there’s that other Florida DB we’re interested in…What’s our chances?
gobows…thanks for trying to educate mr. ahouse.
UH vs BYU – 12/7/13:
Disappointed that both schools decided to cancel this game as well as in 2014.
Why? simple, UH will not be even close to winning the “West” division because of Fresno St, Reno, and San Jose St all of which did well in 2012 and may do even better in 2013.
Or, is this a mandate from the MWC for all schools to keep 12/7/13 open for the MWC championship game?
If it is, can you see the SEC or Big 12 or Big 10 or PAC 12 asking the lower tiered teams to do the same when they have no chance in hell to play for the conference title – power play all the way!
post to Coach Chow and UH OL coach:
call Kila at Kapolei HS and invite him to walkon to the team in 8/13.
If I’m not mistaken you could have up to but no more then 35 scholarships given out in a year. How this works is if a school like Georgia they only had 20 commits in 2012. In 2013 they can give out 25 but the others will have to be early enrolled students like what Billy Ray did when he left Saint Louis. He enrolled at UH in January. That’s how the big schools do it. That’s how Texas A&M, Georgia, Michigan and others can sign more then 25.
bowar…some little birdies are saying that perhaps the timeline on the former has expired.
those birdies are also saying we have a very good chance at landing the latter next weekend. several things will help in our favor here but it will come down to what “mama says”. he could be the one to make us forget about the san mateo transfer.
The key is early enroll students….
go bows and al:
that’s a bunch of baloney!!!!!!
certain McKincley grads cannot count
Limit on NLI on signing day. Shouldn’t the coaches be aware of this already? Then it is a non-issue, unless it’s just an “FYI”.
any local kid (not offered) with dreams of being a warrior should do a personal checklist…
enroll at uh.
get physically fit, d1 level of fitness.
attend all practices even if its on the sidelines, then ask your self can i do this?
or volunteer to fill water jugs, something that gets you near the program to see if that is what you want.
prepare for the following spring walk-on tryouts.
no one has to invite you if you really want this.
@A-House
Do you mean McKinley?
#14. Curran.
A-House, you should go up and talk to him. Met him on a flight to LAX before he was married. Thought he was a genuinely nice guy.
I knew who he was but didn’t say anything to him. He started the conversation by asking – staying in LAX or going to Vegas. The guy has the gift of gab. Could talk about any subject from UH to Vegas eateries.
#59: Al, I thought that Thomas and the other DB was a “package deal” of sorts…I wish we could get both, but will be happy with either.
#63: Al, I think you left off the biggest consideration any local kid should have on their checklist…
1) Do I want to return to live and find employment in the islands?
If they answer yes, to the above, then their best bet is to stay and make a “name” for themselves with the home team…WE (the business community) remember and take care of those players who stayed home and played for the State because we understand the “drawbacks” and sacrifices in doing so.
Those who go away get forgotten quickly…I think Mark Atuaia is a good example…Although he did well at BYU, he found it “tough” getting a decent job and opportunity when he came back to the islands…
bowwar…that is absolutely correct! many will attest to that. I was however referring to those that were not recruited nor invited as a walkon. they could still take the situation at hand and do something about it.
bowwar…that is absolutely correct! many will attest to that. I was however referring to those that were not recruited nor invited as a walkon. they could still take the situation at hand and do something about it.
not a package deal. although higdon commited is a big deal.
@#61 A-House & #64 jimmy: LOL! It looks like they can’t spell either!
Chow, Uce, make sure you get some war drums (maybe 10 or so, the big ones), and make sure you tell the drummers to pound the shiz out of those drums, before our team takes the field.
The Samoan war beat is good, or the Tongan, or the Hawaiian, if Hawaiians have a war beat, or all of the above.
Stadium should be silenced, then war drums begin, then honorary captains take the field, then our boys take the field.
Then, unleash the dogs of war!!! Go Warriors!!!
Al: Actually it doesn’t matter whether they walk-on or whatevahs…anytime a local boy chooses to play for the home team, local folks remember…They don’t even have to start…
I can’t tell the amount of times we’d pick a former Warrior when his/her name is matched up against a “higher profile” candidate who decided to play elsewhere. It’s the “investment” these athletes made in becoming Warriors…
Nothing against the kids that go to the mainland, I just tell them you should have found a job there…
Al: funny…It was being played that Higdon was the “secondary consideration” to getting Thomas…Anyway, I hope we get both or either.
Do you know if Gregory’s situation is a complete “bye-bye” or is it “salvageable”? The kid showed alot of promise and it would be a shame if he has to go elsewhere…
The “walk-on” program appears to be alot more “controlled” under Chow than when under the auspices of Miano…Seems like Chow is very “picky” about who can “try-out” and who can’t. What Chow forgets is guys like Miano and Lelie came up through the walk-on route…
Indeed. Nuts (pardon the pun and the double entendrΓ©) and incredulous.
You Manti supporters . . . you feel a little candle light, fine dining dinner, and a walk on the beach as well? Ha. Ha. Ha.
Couric’s follow-up question should’ve been: “are you bi’?”
Very curious that follow-up wasn’t done; maybe denied by the spinners/handlers? “Are you a [diplomatic way to say ‘s3xual deviant’]?”
Can you imagine the o-line in front of a Te’o once he starts the NFL? “Hea I yam, MANti!!! AH ain’t online and ah’m vehrah REAL!!!”
# # #
#4…
Wassup jeezy…ST mostly talked recruiting, stuff that you probably pretty much know already…
He didn’t mention any names, well kinda sorta, but said that Warriors are confident Wily will commit.
It’s fine to have an opinion — after all, they’re like a-holes, everybody has one. But can we please refrain from the lame attempts at humor? That person does not deserve the cheap shots leveled at him on this blog — even if it’s only from one source. Move on, buddy.
#20 PurpleMaple: Chow said to be visiting all verbal commits in person, to show their families how much he wants their kid, and to make sure they sign on the dotted line (poaching preventative techniques).
#75 Bowar: Maybe under Chow and his hyper vigilant recruiting efforts, Miano and Lelie would not have had to “walk-on” to the team.
Hey C-Grease let me spell it out for you in case you didn’t get it:
RT liked Manti but not the other way around. How does that make Manti bi? So you’re saying if a mahu chases you around that makes you gay?
Chicken is either alice or ronaiah T. Spouts off like either of these things. Same mannerisms, same MO, same speech style.
No, no TWO different topics — Couric’s odd lack of follow-up question (first topic), R.T. giving out (pardon the pun) this item to add to the situation.
Don’t be sheeple. There’s more going on here. Yeah, this situation ain’t going change the price of bread. Be critical; weed out lies. It’s good practice.
“Spell it out” for a Grease. The heck outta hea.
This is. The 2nd topic. Spell it out . . . FOR YOU. π
Also, a Grease so handsome, ehy, get plenny going after him, all kinds. π . You don’t see a Grease going on national TV.
Ehy!!! Check out the latest w/A-Rod . . . a while HE told Couric he ne’er take enhancings. Yep. Ummm hmmm. See a pattern here?

You can tell which baseball players take enhancement drugs, they wear bigger cups.
BTW, see you all at the Punahou carnival!
Sorry, I can’t understand your English.
so, it appears that UH got a long snapper (?) maybe?
if yes, then next item is the “punter” – any names?
al: if ST stated on radio today, then he must have a lot of privilege info about Wily – your thoughts? nah, eye know you can count till 5.
Are you kidding? A Grease wouldn’t be caught w/a hairstyle look like a band member from The Deele.
Independent T . . . dunno why you want a Grease to be a woman. (first Alice, didn’t you call me “Lennay” also?) Odd. Heed Double B’s instructions he posted for you.
Titus to Oregon st .. Shucks
#88:The Scab Strikes Again….
I wanted Titus , Vaughn jr, ofa hautau, and wily bad..
73…and those are the facts. agreed.
Oh well, next recruit. Good luck Titus.
84 Jimmy: I think the cup size shrinks and cap size expands. They take the good with the bad I guess. Hehe
clyde…for real. you sound like me cousin clyde.
that’s exactly what he’d say and i’d agree with him all the time.
lol, I was taking about vi-ag-ra, c-alas, and le-v-tra. π
taking = talking, but wouldn’t mind taking. π
I wonder if the coaches will give up on Titus or circle the wagons around one more time…
bowwar… that first group of floridians were the ones that was high on the list. that included barry higdon, thomas, and incoming mccollum. they wanted all three higdon committed right away. thomas couldn’t pull the trigger…parents??? mccollum missed the bus because he happened to be out of communication temporarily while the trips were being finalized. perhaps thomas’ non-committal resulted in mccollum’s second chance to trip here, he’s packing his bags tonight already.
it is always interesting to hear the back story on recruiting. those are usually reserved for after the fact because too much singing could jeopardize the recruitment.
bryson…you know they will.
Soon we will see who signs on the line.
They won’t give up but I don’t remember ever in past 10 years we persuaded a PAC 12 commit on last week of recruiting .. Usually only happens to us..
OSU’s D-line coach is former Warrior, Joe Seumalo.
Clyde, lame attempt at humor? What you talking ’bout. I say he one “funny kine”person.
I wasn’t that high on Titus, he would have been I good get but nothing to get excited about. There are some recruits coming this weekend that are huge gets
Nothing is done till the document is signed on Wednesday….there will be surprises….there always are….good class…gonna get better—
actually paipai and alema were both going pac 12 and mwc when a last ditch effort grabbed both.
Titus is going to be a real good one. Hope he decides otherwise and signs the home team.
#107 – Signs with the home team.
what is great is that this class is already one of the best so far. the lineman are bigger than ever before, the fast guys are really fast, etc, etc. and maybe we got the holy grail.
anymore guys that come on board this last week is like extra gravy on the rice.
Yeah, I wasn’t too high on Chad Owens coming out of high school. I wonder whatever happened to him?
Yeah, I wasn’t too high on Chris Paul coming out of high school. I wonder whatever happened to him?
well for now he is a beaver…that last ditch effort by osu this past week seemed to have worked. family is okay with it but in their hearts they wanted him to stay home.
good parents that they are allowed him to choose.
OSU runs a real good program. Great recruiters. Tough to be competitive in the Pac 12 while residing in such a small town. Riley does a great job of making it work.
I hope ‘Whats up’ is right. I still wouldn’t mind getting a few more bigs on both sides of the ball. I don’t care if they come from Hawaii, Mainland, or Samoa. Just think we need a few more big and athletic bodies.
I guess Titus likes orange. Again, good luck to him.
Kifi
I’m no expert at recruits, but Titus wasn’t a huge loss for IMO, Kennedy Tuilmasealii now that would be a huge loss and Kennedy is high on my list! Titus might very well be a great one I don’t know? I trust in Chow, Demo, Powell, Tuioti, Kaumemeyer and the rest of the staff recruiting, if they went after Titus he had to be pretty darn good. I watch the tape and games and form my opinion and I have been wrong many times in the past about recruits. But I just don’t think Titus was a huge loss and there are other players that Hawaii can get that are about the same talent level as Titus. But a Kennedy type recruit is special, he is a beast and loves Hawaii and the Ohana so much he staying home to play.
Good recruits from Utah coming in this weekend.
make room.
move ofa.
There are trolls and then there are just pricks. Whatever you feel about the Te’o story, it is pretty uncalled for the be attacking him in almost all of your posts, let alone accusing him of being gay or bi-sexual.
But any response in defense of Te’o or at least a desire to express a bit of reason results in being called “sheeple.” That is ridiculous. There is more evidence that has come out to prove innocence than guilt, by far. Yet some still contend that this is all spin and that everyone who wants to give Te’o a chance is a moron.
People love chicken skin when its fried. But when it’s too greasy people take it off and throw it away or feed it to their dogs. I think the Chicken has been tasting a bit too Greasy for my liking. Time to cut the fat.
Have you heard about the former State DE, defensive player of the year from St. Louis who committed to Colorado. That’s right, you haven’t heard a peep from that guy, so much so, that I can’t even remember his name. That’s exactly what’s going to happen to Titus Failauga if he goes to Oregon State. The same thing happened to Jonathan Mapu, the same thing that happened to Kama Bailey, the same thing that happened to Jason Ching, the same thing that happened to Solomon Koehler, etc. etc. etc. The team will move on, best of luck to Titus with the Beavers.
#116 – I agree with you on Kennedy. What’s interesting is that he reminds me of two former Oregon State players Inoke Breckterfield and Stephen Paea. He will be a real good one.
#120 – I respect your opinion Derek. Although I am a Hawaii fan, I still choose to respect everyone’s personal choices on where they go to school. To me, the only thing that matters is that the young men get to play football and also get their education subsidized by the University. Whether that University is in Manoa Valley or in Moscow, Idaho doesn’t matter. At least their getting an education.
No need be dumb like me for the rest of their lives.
Still trying to figure out how far to walk through the dessert to get to da ice cream parlor foa eat my desert.
Sigh. [Tsaigh?]
Thought we we were pals here, kev-1. Really did.

I don’t understand the Teo hate. Is it because he didn’t play for the home team? At any rate, I would hope that in and of itself would not be used as a judgement of ones character and that just as we are encouraging players from other states to come and play for Hawaii we would also be tolerant of those kids from Hawaii who decide to play elsewhere.
You’re assuming it’s “hate.”
Many employ this slang . . . and no one questioned its use.
You know? Questioning. Strengthens liberty.

al,
Ofa is high on my list! I wish Hawaii can move Ofa to the Warriors.
kifi…i guess by the time you get there the parlor will be deserted and then you shall have no pie, er, dessert.

best wishes to titus failuaga.
it has been his dream to venture north for some time.
a new experience for he.
but, wait…still get one more week before inking the document.
eh kifi #123 you calling a ice cream dessert cc?
gotta wait till I finish this ministry @ LCC
I don’t understand these top players from our own backyard?!?! Always wanting/thinking that they are better then what they really are. I would say they would have a better chance showing there skills at UH rather then mainland. They really gotta understand that at the bigger schools they have alot more talent coming in. That they might just be a benchwarmer/special teams player. I would say 1 out of 10 these players gonna do something at the next level!! Only way to get in the NFL or have a future is to show case your skills. Better chance to show case your skills at UH rather then at Washington. I can see if your a 5 star recruit then maybe. But that’s rare.
kev-1: Don’t try to reason, or argue, with someone who speaks in the third person for he/she thrives on the attention. He/she obviously likes to hear/see himself/herself talk/write.
I apologize to Stephen for letting he/she get under my skin, too. My opinion on Te’o’s situation has not wavered since the story first broke, so I’m comfortable with how it has played out. Let’s return the blog to UH football; recruiting season is an exciting time whether it bears fruit or not.

Let’s just celabrate and cheer the local players choosing to stay at home to play for the Warriors. Never mind the others.
@135: I deserved that β¦ maybe not from you, but I deserved it. Should not have allowed it to get personal; should not have levied a cheap shot. My apologies to those whom I offended. Moving on …
Man February 6th can’t come fast enough I’m very eager to see how this class shapes up. If we keep our current commits and add a few more I think we are gonna be building a solid foundation for the future talent wise…
If we can land Hautau, McCollum, Wily, and Isaac I will be happy as a lark. I’m sure others are waiting to be offered too. If the coaches want to land some Florida guys, there are Thomas, McDonalds, and Williams besides McCollum. Speed, speed, speed, kills. How many do we have left? I had assumed that the long snapper is a possible walk-on, but I could be wrong.
Big mahalo to the local boys that choose to stay home and represent.
I wonder what happen to Isaac S…he seems to have no interest from any programs…
I wanna see Lewis P get this guy and convert him to the next Hebron Fangupo. I like rugby backgrounds and can’t teach footwork and athleticism like that.

Looks like a player like Will Tukuafu from the 49ers, Jeezy! Jesse Kuhaulua was a OT, Dt, and sometime fullback in goal line situations while playing for Baldwin HS. Fangupo is a lot faster. Anybody on him?

#151 – Just playing. I thought he and Jeff Ulbrich at UCLA were getting real tight.
I hope one day, Jeff Ulbrich returns and becomes HC at Hawaii…. Always seemed like a solid leader that is very likable. Bet he can recruit.

Down to UCLA and Texas A&M.

While not the most flexible, still legit 6-4 height with a long lean frame with powerful build and potential to fill out alot more at the next level.
Regarding the players mentioned, Parker was part of CU’s DE rotation last season; Mapu was a Vol starter; Bailey a Vandal starter; Ching plagued with injuries; while Sol had girlfriend issues……so just not good supporting examples cited.
Think what you may, but the UH coaches wouldn’t have reserved an open scholie for Titus this late in the recruiting process if they didn’t think highly of him.
Texas A & M has 32 commitments. I think they “overbooked”.
Didn’t Lakalaka was leaning to UCLA before choosing Hawaii? Maybe Lakalaka will talk to Mr. Saviinaea about staying home.
Hoping for the best for Jeremy Tabuyo at TAMU with that “overbooking” situation. Hopefully he has a back-up plan B.
UCLA hasn’t been the best place for Hawaii guys from a football standpoint. I can’t think of anyone from Hawaii who played there and made it big in the NFL. I’m sure I’ve overlooked someone. Although all who go there get a very good education if they stay there all four years.
Maybe nobody from Hawaii who went to UCLA made it big in the NFL is because UCLA refuses to play Hawaii in football. You know, BACHI! Hehe! But, you makes a good point. I don’t think Dalton Hilliard or Kaimi Fairburn will make it big in the NFL and I don’t think Stan Hasiak will too. Did Mark Tuinei go to UCLA? If so, he’s probably the only one.
That’s an interesting statement Abunai. Here are some numbers from ‘Scout’. Numbers may actually back-up your statement. Will actually need to pull up more data.

Interesting tidbit. Mark Tuinei played at UCLA 2 years as a defensive lineman. He transferred to UH, had some nagging injuries and played only 7 games as a senior. He was born in Oceanside, CA but his family moved to Nanakuli and he graduated from Punahou one year before Barack Obama. Tuinei played 15 years with the Cowboys and won a couple of Super Bowl rings as one of Troy Aikman’s protectors.
#164 – Mark played there for two years and then played one year at Hawaii. I’m not sure if he qualifies as a UCLA guy. He’s a Hawaii guy.
Interesting stat for Mark Tuinei. During the years that Mark was their left tackle, the Cowboys had a 72% winning percentage when he played and were 38% when he was out due to injury. He was a darned good football player.
New Zealand. We should be in New Zealand.
Sam Alefaio 6-6 320 from Otara to Arizona Western.
#166,
Mark played OLB/DE for Punahou; then DT for UCLA Bruins (true frosh starter from 1st game); then NG/DT for Rainbows; then OT for Cowboys.
the “overbooking” is not unusual as colleges know some of these commits will not qualify by signing day. Some will greyshirt so they will sign a scholarship agreement not a Letter of Intent – so they do not count against the scholarship numbers. Someone above asked how the NCAA would monitor it. Every school has to let the NCAA know who is getting an NLI and when it comes back signed they have to submit the information to the NCAA. I dont know the exact process, not may area of knowledge but I know its done or so Ive been tod.
Hope Pita boards that plane here…..

#119, Calling a straight man gay or homosexual should be just as offensive as calling a gay man straight or heterosexual. Unreal.
What happen to Dan Kelly?
You can call me straight, gay, bi, asexual, or whatever you want. Why should I care what you think? I know what I am and am not.

wade keliikipi is another one in that same boat.
all the defensive linemen should stay home…seems like only offensive linemen are able to make the jump to the NFL from the pac. if the pac is not getting them to the next level, what really is the benefit…oh yeah, soap in the showers.
#110 you really know how to pick the winnahs

$25K bail, he in jail…see #157 for link.
My, Kelly looks very different.

Great Morning All!
Anyone else find themselves wishing a flight on a Dreamliner for someone?
No doubt that the hiring of Robert Anae and Mark Atuaia was done with an eye on refocusing on recruiting Hawaii LDS players. Utah seems to be getting the top Poly players in-state due to their Pac-12 affiliation, so BYU needs to adjust their recruiting.

that was a tweet from dennis maroquin, George Williams’ football coach
One more recruit closes, one more recruit opens. Everything happens for a reason. There are a lot of good football players out there. Get good players with good students. Gotta have both. The coaches have been doing a terrific job and working hard. I have to trust their judgment, first and foremost we don’t have a choice do we? It’s never over, until it’s over.
Not everything happens for a reason.
just when one was beginning to wonder about olb/de commit david manoa…he’ll be landing tomw for his official.
manoa in manoa.
or would that be manoa to manoa?
