Kailua defensive end commits to UH
Kailua High defensive end Calen Friel has accepted a football scholarship from the Warriors.
Friel is 6 feet 2 and 240 pounds.
“I was a Warrior fan since I was a little kid,” said Friel, who participated in the recently completed UH Big Man’s Camp for offensive and defensive linemen.

Greg McMackin, June Jones, Jesse Sapolu, Samson Satele, Ma‘a Tanuvasa, Ta‘ase Faumui and Jack “The Throwin’ Samoan” are part of the group taking part in the American Samoa Football Academy & Medical Mission.
They departed this afternoon for American Samoa, bringing 83 boxes of medical supplies valued at about $400,000. They also brought five wheelchairs.
Here are two thirds of the 1992 Holiday Bowl championship defensive line — Tanuvasa and Faumui:
Here’s JJ and Mayor Mufi Hannemann:

Now focusing on the big picture, the Warriors secured commitments from offensive lineman David Lefotu of Pearl City High and defensive lineman Viliami “Pep” Fonokalafi of Kaimuki High.
Lefoti said he is 6 feet 4 and 295 pounds.
Fonokalafi said he is 6 feet and 290 pounds, and can play defensive tackle or defensive end.
Both attended the Big Man’s Camp, which ended yesterday.

Agent Kenny Zuckerman announces Dominic Raiola’s new contract:
“4-year extension with $20 million in new money, including $9 million guranteed. Under his old deal, he will earn $4 million this year, plus the $9 million — totals $13 million in 2009.”

Farrah Fawcett, who passed away today, was part of one of television’s most memorable trios. (We used to go to Robert Kagawa’s house just to look at her poster.) Today’s sports-bar debate: List your favorite trios.
Mine are:
1. Moe, Larry, Curley.
2. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen.
3. Sevey, Tindall, Moore.
4. Carson, McMahon, Doc
5. (Tie) The Police, Run-DMC

Happy birthday to KHNL’s Jason Tang.
Great news!
top five
1st
290 pounds sounds more like a DT than a DE in Mac’s defense.
Is it Lefoti or Lefotu? Does he project as a G or T?
while i heard about that olineman i didn’t about that dlineman. i’ll bet that dlineman is a neighbor.
It is great for UH to have a Big Man’s Camp, where everyone can be compared side-to-side and compete for scholarship offers. I’m sure that the coaches carefully chose who to offer, so it is great to hear that two offers were accepted right away.
the Kaimuki player fits in the mold of UH DT, short and powerful, plug the hole and hold the line….i’d like a dt who can move the line and make more tackles and qb hurries…
Hiya!
Nitey Nite and Sweet Warrior Dreams!
Great news on two big local boys…
Al if you feed the neighbor he’ll really appreciate the tsaikos….thanks ahead…. 🙂
Welcome to the Warriors David Lefotu and Viliami “Pep” Fonokalafi!
Your families must be extremely proud of what you have accomplished so far and you will have your home State behind you when you take the field as a Warrior.
Al and Big Wave I know you guys are checking out and looking at their youtube videos….post sites please
Hope to hear about more OL/DL commits in the next couple of days.
add to # 13 …
on TV, Coach Mac said he ID’d 5 or 6 prospects,
so hope to hear about more offers/commits soon.
now if the other dline from kaimuki, taufoti, commits to UH that would be a bonus…I hope he commits before going to the maui camp and the all poly camp to show his support for the warriors…the gate is sprung open so come on in and join the warriors….
interesting that our early recruits our mostly those under the radar types. i guess these junior days and camps are paying dividends.
how many taufotis have we had at UH?
Stephen,
Is Viliami Fonokalafi related to the Vili Fonokalafi who was an AllState DL for Kailua in 2002? I wonder if that Vili is the same guy who is a professional MMA fighter, now?
I assume he is the older brother to Kaimuki’s Lopeti Fonokalafi who was the first civilian born in 1994.
BING knows all…
changing subjects ….
Corey Paclebar’s profile has been upated by BigWave96744.
More fun facts, etc.
Hi Everyone!!
Stadium Authority meeting in about eight hours. Stuff on the agenda includes repairs and revenue-sharing. I’ll take good notes in case anyone is interested in a brief report.
Asked this question once before but no one responded. Is anyone interested in putting together a miniature golf challenge on July 4? Or even just to play a round or two?
Back to work – have to get ready for a 3 am meet-up call. For everyone else, it’s a 9 am call because they’re all in DC.
Ralph,
Darrell and Daniel Tautofi played for UH.
Oldest bro David played for UCLA
Darren went the JC route
talented tautofis…so where is Darren….currently at JC or just a statement? remember these guys or some of them also played basketball
the vili fonokalafi that played for kailua was a terror at DE. i was assuming this kid is his younger brother and was playing for DJ last season.
lots of tickets available to the UH-WSU game at qwest field…not available thru UH, but when the tickets are made available expect to pay a $50 surcharge per ticket purchase. maybe a purchaser will be able to pick up 4 tickets for the $50 surcharge, no decision announced yet as being final…cheaper to buy it directly from the cougars…tough decision for the die hard fans, support the warriors and pay the $50 surcharge or save it for the casinos
Coach Dana announces that she will coach the post players…. 🙁 a former 5’3 guard coaching dew at 6’3 the proper mechanics of playing the post, not…. all three coaches played the 1 and 2 slots..Serenda is the tallest of the three so she could have played the 2 at Cal Poly if the team was height challenged…
i’m guessing 5’3″ because she barely cleared the top of the podium during her hiring announcement…
I think a successful year will help solidify the Warriors 2010 commits to not de-commit., that and hopefully all qualify academically??
A fine Thurday to all!
Welcome to the two new Warrior linemen!
Whoo-hoo!!!
Go Chargers!
good morning tsaikos.
Great Morning All!
Make some room for da Beeg Boyz!
Boy, quite a long break between PC Warriors – Derby (’81) to Lefotu (’10).

Mrs.C,
Reports on AM TV of dogs roaming Aawa Dr. in Ewa! Go get ’em!
Good Morning All! I’m glad to see some big boys starting to commit to the warriors
Wow that’s some big buggas good to see we going after some huge linemen not just the one that need to put on weight
Good morning Tsai-kos!!
Welcome to the new commits.
OK off to work. esme and out.
Sad to hear that Farrah Fawcett passed away.
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20240288,00.html
ralph commented on same (#24) last week when I found out it would be cheaper to buy tics on line instead of waiting for UH to get notice out. ticket masters has tics on 40 yrd line behind UH bench going for $50 and odd change which includes all fees. how yu figga? called the UH twice but only the comments they could make was to say information would come out soon…..still nothing but they did emphasize the $50 reservation priority fee. it seems the only way to get game tickets is to purchase the UH travel package. again in times of economic hardship UH does not seem to care about improving its situation or endearing itself to loyal fans.
e kala mai and a very good morning to all the tsai-ko’s. It gets my blood 👿 boiling when I think of the many ways we try to support UH but they do not seem to respond back.
mr. stephen if you smud me I understand and my apologies if you get in hot water for this. 😳
sad to hear 🙁 about the passing of ms. Fawcet. she was one hot chick back den.
the big man camp seems to be producing some outstanding prospects for the UH future. welcome to those who have been pegged so far. looking forward to seeing how you develop into supper warriors.
Truthfully, WSU is not helping the situation at all. They should have announced the start time by now. I think they are holding out on a TV contract and will adjust the start time accordingly.
But, UH should have the sales already going. Or at least have a list for people who want to purchase the tickets.
What is most frustrating is that we are trying to support the UH but they are moving so slowly, if at all, that we may be forced to purchase the tickets from WSU (without the additional fees) at a lower price than what we would have to pay the UH.
When you are the only game in town maybe the “Hawaiian Style” works but with other venues involved (who have their act together) there is no time and definitely no excuse.
I guess the UH people have not learned anything from the Sugar Bowl and other away game fiascos.
Big news on the 2 latest recruits. Coach Mac did say he offered more guys, but I think some of the guys aren’t ready to commit yet. The guys that have given their verbal commitments so far all seem to have their heart set on playing for the home team. I would think that feeling would be contagious.
wafan
Appears that HF legacy continues to exist at UH unfortunately.
wafan no get me started again already downed 3 cups of strong kope
so good morning pnw monarch cuz got email about your return. give a call when you do so we can get together for some loco moko.
michelle wie is 1 under thru 15 holes, t19 currently in round 1 of wegmans lpga
dean wilson shot 2 under 68 and t35 in round 1 of travelers champ.
For those Tsai-ko’s coming up for the WSU game in September. Just a reminder — the game is off campus, not quite on the edge of downtown Seattle. The venue is a professional sports complex (Qwest and Safeco Fields are across the street from each other) with bars the predominant businesses.
Finding restaurants closeby to Qwest Field is difficult at best — especially if you are looking for inexpensive, quality and quantity. The Seattle restaurants tend to be upscale.
If you are coming please refer to the messages sent earlier in the year. Lots of touristy things to do, though!
You can actually ride a ferry that works and no one prostested against, watch the flying fish, visit Underground Seattle, shop ’til you drop, visit Paradise on the Mountain (Rainier), take a day trip to Victoria (bring your passport or birth certificate), and ton of other things. The weather should be pleasant in the 80’s.
This latest commit(s) are HUGE.
No pun intended towards their talent and size.
WAFAN: I think now days you have to have a passport for Canada. Some latest TSA requirement.
Heard from a friend in Glenwood Springs recently…
and he mentioned that Bennett Nicola ,the guy that recently commited to UH who is 6 feet 2 and 165, a 2009 graduate of Colorado’s Glenwood Springs,
….is very FAST and GREAT hands, as he played in the State championship game.
i second what wafan has to say.
might be difficult to “tailgate” before the game in Seattle. its not a tailgating venue. the stadium is right on the edge of downtown. not much open air parking except for small Diamond parking like lots scattered in between the buildings. there’s a big parking structure but that’s not ideal either.
it not being a Seahawk game too, not sure how many of the local sports bars around the stadium would be open too.
it also doesn’t help the time hasn’t been determined. but to my recollection, most PAC-10 games are during the afternoon into evenings. the sun goes down super late too, so that might factor in.
ST ~
Please ask the ticket office mgr to appear on the Warrior Beat show. (Make sure you allow the show time to go into extra innings).
Suggested show title, ‘Reader’s Revenge’…and have Paramedics standing by.
Audience participation should include the A-House Ohana at the top of the list. Stretch & BHF2 for sure. (I would never get past security, so I defer to my pahtna, KK).
From what I’ve heard, UH has been told there won’t be a ticket limit for Warrior fans for any road games this year. Basically, if you go through UH (or Panda, I assume), you’re going to get a ticket in section designated for the visiting team. I have no idea what that means, or where the seats will be.
Koakane and Kekoa . . .
Will do!
I guess what I’m trying to say is I would make the travel reservations but not worry about the ticket. This isn’t a Sugar Bowl situation.
Mr. Tsai . . .
Great! A seat sold at usury prices. Bwah-ha-ha-ha!
At least it is a step in the right direction. With 60,000+ seats at Qwest Field there should be lots of seats available. I sure hope there are a lot of Warrior fans in the seats that day! It would be a nice away home game akin to the UNLV game.
So any insight on who the other prospects were or what they looked like?
From the Big Man Camp?
“So any insight on who the other prospects were or what they looked like?”
July Jones:
Well, they’re big.
wafan:
yeah, in these austere times, I don’t think it was a good move for Washington State to say how much money they make per 5,000 tickets.
i’ll get some pics up later of my previous two visits to Qwest field. nice stadium. i don’t think we’ll fill it up though.
Small kine reminder July 4 (saturday) at Bay View we are welcoming Ronnie and family back to their roots. Festivities begin 5pm and runs to whenever. Kekoa has the all star band cranking up, the fuud staff has prepared a good menu (missed out it if never came last time) fun, family, fball to be had by all. RSVP kekoa if planning to attend. See SteveM site for more info or how to get toe Bay View. E Komo Mai okou
One of my fav trios is Dan Marino and the Marks Brothers (Mark Clayton and Mark “super” Duper)
lefotu will be a project and the key of course will be gordie shaw. true for all our olm but especially for our underclassmen. it will be interesting to see if shaw can develop david’s footwork and agility below the waist. im looking forward to coach shaw’s worksmanship and product.
Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!!
Okay, went to the 9:10 showing of Transformers 2 last night and we didn’t get out of there until almost midnight. That movie was long! To make this a sports-related post, I think that some of those Transformers could have made excellent MLB for our Warrior team! They were quick, agile and very intimidating. I would be scared if I was a QB and one of them was headed straight for me! 😯
ST-
Aiyah! Bummer your 3rd trio line up is rendered weak by the guy pulling up the rear end. A Jones or Sprinkle would be a huge improvement.
-Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo and the “other guy.”

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr
Harry Potter, Hermoine, and Ron

RE: #105
Poor Kid. The very fist Camellia cattle call, Al, DPK, and I shared a grill. I cooked bbq pork on my 1/3 of the grill while Al tended to his 1/2. The Kid had the rest. I noticed two things that day– (1) Kid looks up from the grill at you when you speak to him and (2) Al is Zatoichi-fast with his chopsticks, especially when the Kid was cooking the same stuff. That’s why Al is holding a pair of chopsticks in the Tsai-ko group caricature.
Even then, Bulla had his own grill while Wreck and Addahknowjoe waited patiently–the look of sheer glee on Bulla’s face while cooking indicated it might be dangerous to interrupt him. Even today, that’s the only time he makes me nervous. 😐
Did someone say Sekiya’s??? Mmmmm…mmmm….
Eggs, ham, cheese
John, Paul, George (c’mon! the last guy was just a backbeat drummer anyway!)

interesting that our early recruits our mostly those under the radar types.
It’s seems like the Warrior staffs a climbing a slippery slope if they think these under-the-radar-types, or sleepers, or diamonds in the rough are going to prove themselves. At least when Coach Jones was here you’d see a lot of player’s bios with all-league or all-state designates..now we have sleepers..yawn.

I guess the coaches saw something they liked in these players. Hopefully, it works out. I trust the coaches…
Kareem Abdul Jabar, Magic Johnson, Curt Rambis
MADEINHAWAII: The three faces I’d like on bills in my wallet – $100,000.00, $10,000.00, & $5,000.00 bills!
Good souvenirs, I guess, but the bills are non-negotiable.
homey capo: NEVER. I used to help my dad harvest the morning limu, mix with vinegar, onion, and some tomatoe…THEN paddle out! C’mon…I needed something to snack on when I was pau…
YIKES Michael Jackson reportedly rushed to hospital with cardiac arrest… the tragedies trio theory is looking scarily more real every time…
Jack Flash,
Agree wicchu…
Trust the coaches decisions because they are the ones seeing the kids at the camp and have prolly talked to the HS coaches.
hoho,
when the Former Coach was here the recruiting was focused on HS Seniors who were more likely to have been recognized with All-Star/All-State accolades than Juniors.
btw, the thought is that the calamity is in going down a slippery slope. But with so many others going along the same path nowadays, the path may not be so slippery but well-worn instead.
actually, in the case of lefotu, he had some big time schools knocking on his door already.
i am not saying these are unproven talents that we have secured verbals from. what i meant by that is that the staff is doing there homework, pounding the pavement, and making their critical observations by holding camps, etc.
it is supposed to be our advantage to know all of the local kids with d-1 potential. isn’t that our advantage being on an island state?
yah, i too trust the coaches evaluations.
Big C – You never flash boil the limu first? And according to d1, your path is not so slippery but well-worn…
hoho, trust your own instincts….ur doing fine.
Dirty Commish,
Twitter is exploding with over 1000 tweets per second on that!
Help us Obi Wan…you’re our only hope!
homey capo:
No, I like ‘um crunchy! And back in da’ day, da’ watah was still clean, so neva’ have to do notin’ but rinse little bit, clean the bits of sand out, and eat ‘um. That’s also what the vinegar is for….steralize! hahahaha..

It is hard for me to believe that a D-IA school, with the #4 ranked cheerleading squad in the country, has cut their cheerleading team. Budget problems also forced them to cut their band. I hope that the budget situation never gets to this point for UH.
*ahem*
Today is Peryy & Price’s Happy LEON Day. There are already two great names that won’t see Christmas – Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. May they RIP.
FIU’s Administration really went about this the wrong way…after recruting was done for the squad and ignoring an offer to try to keep their cheerleading squad going for free.

UH FINALLY announced the process for ordering tickets for the road games. They are charging $10/ticket fee. Can you imagine if we picked up 220 tickets for the UNLV game through UH??!!?? $2,200!!!! Thanks again to Rich2176!!

This article indicates that the Samoa Football Academy and Medical Mission is expected to be much bigger this year than last year. There were about 600 players estimated last year, so 1,000 would be a significant increase.

From Kama Sutra to crank shafts?
You really do need your own comedy series. U too funny man, too funny.
The UH/WSU game is being publicized on StubHub as the Cougar Gridiron Classic.
**GAME TIME IS POSTED AS 1PM**
This is the usual start times for college games in the area.
Tickets are available on TicketMaster. Additional fees range from ~$11 to ~$15 per ticket plus the price of the ticket.
Tickets on StubHub start at $50 per ticket. Not all of the seats are together.
curveball – sequential fuel injection I think…
Garret,
Gee, 1000 players @ 40-50 per team, even accounting for a JV and Varsity team at all schools would seem to cover just about every eligible football player in the nation!
The $39 tickets from UH are around the 10 – 20 yard lines — I think. For the same seats on TicketMaster you would be charged ~$32.
….and several hundred pairs of football cleats.
Sounds like a coupla several hundred kids in Samoa going get one new football shoe dis year!
heheheh
DPK – That was typical shop talk. What are you thinking?
The publicized 1pm game time has not been officially confirmed by WSU.
The Coug alum’s I know are getting a bit frustrated by the lack of communication for this game. Does this sound faintly familiar?
I got a call regarding my additional seat request for the upcoming season…it’s a head-shaker….ask me about it next time you see me. 🙄
homey capo: #251 probably same thing as you….. 😉
http://picasaweb.google.com/chawancut/Qwest#
ok, as promised, here’s my pics from QWest field the last 2 times i went. there’s not much parking for tailgating. i did chance upon a spot between the ferry terminal walking to the stadium. its near the freeway overpasses. its very unlikely we’ll get those stalls as you probably have to get there early. that and there’s no way we’ll be able to tailgate normally with grills, tents, chairs, etc. i’m sure the wazzu fans know all about these lots too.
next to the stadium is an alleyway where a lot of food vendors set up. they allowed us to take food into the stadium. you just couldn’t take any drinks in though. not sure if this’ll be the case for a college game but they’re also there for a Mariners game.
anyways, i sat in two different areas when i went. the endzone and the upper deck. i actually had a standing room only spot last year because i bought a few days before the game. it was also against the packers and the cheesehead fans are crazy and filled up the stadium.
i did somehow get to the luxury box area in the south endzone. really nice. maybe stretch can sponsor us.
the rest of the pics are self explanatory.
enjoy!
wafan,
I may be because the Coug’s SID is kinda busy keeping up with the Police blotter!
heheheh
d1 – Tell me now about the head-shaker.
homey capo,
It’s a p*sser. 😉
d1 . . .
Okay, that explains WSU. So what is the excuse for UH? HA!
D1,
UH called you back already? Hmmm… better do a check up myself… My seat request is kind of confusing.
d1 – use anger management verbiage.
OK… dat braddah was um… “busy” at the UH ticket office.
Told me they are obviously in the process of calling back now and I should get a call in the next week or so.
Ticket Office Guy: I’m calling about your seat request….right now you’re in Row 37, Seats 16, 17 and 18…we can only give you the additional seat in the row in front, Seat 16.
me: What’s the next best option?
TOG: Uhhhh….. Row 37, Seats 14 thru 17.
me: (pause) You mean the same row but I gotta slide over one seat?
TOG: Yup.
me: Why no go widdat den?
TOG: OK
me: 🙄
Kazz: Did he really say “obviously”???
Wow. The Michael Jackson news was a shocker for me. May he rest in peace.
And…what the heck is a “Homey Capo”. Am I missing something? Homes, what have you gone and done.
Ok, who is this homey capo guy/gal???
A-sports,
When I first read it, I thought it said Jordan!
Oh no he didn’t say that, I added that in.
The guy wasn’t rude or anything, but sounded out of breath and it sounded like someone was bugging him off the phone at the same time with questions.
dey u go.
Kazz,
Must have been his pahtnah, “Brah, wat I going do with this extra seat #18?”
heheheh
Wow. That was pretty shocking to hear about MJ’s passing.
I was at a restaurant when Kekaula called with the news.
We all grew up with MJ.
Quite sad.
What’s wrong? Not enough vowels in their names?
d1-
that would have been a shocker too.
Homes-
Are you dressing up again?
A-sports: dunno, but dat’ homey capo “thing” needs lickens’ too….
Kazz: Oh…okay then. I was gonna say….DANG!
chawan cut
looks like you went to a seahawk game at the qwest. was looking into the ram/hawk game on the 13th. do you know what the hawks nest seats are? when i looked at prices, there were end zone seats in the hawk nest and outside of them that were pretty reasonable. just wanted to make sure this area wasn’t like an oakland black hole or something. thanx in advance.
d1 . . .
I really do not want to say it but I will.
What kind of morons work at the ticket office? Was it so difficult to figure out? Maybe they need to take a math class to learn simple logic.
Maybe they could not figure out how to sell as singleton seat at the box office?
Duh. Sounds like some of my frosh.
No wonder ticket sales are “interesting”.
A-Sports – What you mean again? I never stopped.
dpc . . .
The Hawks Next is right under the JumboTron. The “open” side of the horseshoe, as it were.
dpc . . .
No seat backs and arm rests — aluminum benches.
Reminds me of the 2nd and upper levels of Aloha stadium.
The $10 per ticket fee UH is tacking on to road game tickets is exactly what they did last year.
And, also like last year, some road games are outrageously priced. $45 for the SJSU game? Aren’t most of the seats at Spartan Stadium general admission?
c_c and anyone else coming to the WSU game . . .
You can usually take food and water (no coolers) into the stadium. No alcohol can be taken in. For that matter, since it is a college game (PAC-10) I am not sure beer will be sold inside.
But, as we learned at the OSU game, during halftime the kids all ran outside to the parking lots, hit the bottles then re-entered the stadium. So much for alcohol free. Bwah-ha-ha-ha!
MADEINHAWAII: Sorry, should have been more precise in my comment but …
“Notes above the $100 denomination ceased being printed in 1946 and were officially withdrawn from circulation in 1969. These notes were used primarily in inter-bank transactions or by organized crime; it was the latter usage that prompted President Richard Nixon to issue an executive order in 1969 halting their use. With the advent of electronic banking, they became less necessary. Notes in denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, $10,000, and $100,000 were all produced at one time”
While large bills may technically be around, it you can’t use them …
I understand some casino had them posted on their walls but later sold them to collectors.
da princess’ classmate,
i don’t know where exactly those seats are, but the seahawks fans are not as angry and crazy as the raiders black hole. they are passionate for their team, but its not at all dangerous anywhere.

one more recruit, Friel of Kailua, DE…welcome to the warrior nation
I must be one of the few people who feels indifferent about Michael Jackson’s death. It’s unfortunate that he passed away, but I never really evoked above-normal emotions for both him or his music. On that note, I rarely listened to his music nor did I grow up during the height of his fame. For me, the only memorable things of MJ was the scandals.
I guess my overall perception of his passing is quite different compared to the rest of the Tsaiko gang…..not that there’ s anything wrong with any of our views. If I was around during the height of his fame, I’d probably feel saddened as well of his death.
For me, this was sorta like when Anna Nicole Smith died…..and no, I’m not the father of her baby.
Whoo-hoo for another Warrior who is staying home!!!
Here’s an interesting story on how, basically, MJ’s death crashed the Internet.
http://www.wealthalchemist.com/Blog/2009/06/michael-jacksons-death-test-internet-soundness/
Committed Road Warrior…
To me, MJ was someone who was prevented from possibly doing more good with all the scandals and battles he had to endure. With Lionel Ritchie, the two composed “We are the World” and managed to raise 50 million to fight poverty in Africa. That’s 50 million nearly 20 years ago.. how much is that in dollars today? I was looking forward to seeing him perform one last hurrah. Too bad.
YES, welcome aboard, Calen Friel. DE Kailua.
Talking of trios.. we got three linemen to commit this week.. Awesome!

I hope Coach Mack can find samoa big boys from Samoa. Nice to see how this recruiting class is starting to take shape. I don’t think any of these guys have been flying under the radar because almost all have other offers as well. Just because they come from schools not really known for there football like the Kahuku, St. Louis types, doesn’t mean they’re not ballers and haven’t been noticed. Anyway, the anticipation for the season to get going is starting to build up…

Of how I remember Michael Jackson is that he is gifted in a lot of areas of his life, yet he is also dwarfed. His prowess for song and dance is unmatched. Yet in the end the impediment that incapacitated him, probably, was the years of abusing prescription pain killers. Seeing, also, that he had an early history of being abused as a child and combined with the chemicals would only intensify this calamity. The imaginary voices one hears in their heads under these duresses are hard to overcome. And Michael was no different. His passing mirrors someones that I’m familiar with that fought a losing battle with painkillers, specifically OxyContin. And, too, that person, like MJ, spiraled into poorer health and weirdness. And death. This is extremely sad.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if MJ autopsy reports to this effect.
Wf2 posted a link that I watched: Michael Jackson – Billie Jean (Live in New York 2001). For me watching this video was a poignant moment. I’m not ashamed to say I had a few tears, well quite a few. And if there was reason to have a personal song and video for a personal reason forever immortalized in my head–this one is it. I’m honored to pay homage to Michael Jackson.
No one is perfect…no coach is perfect…right? But, I can see why Coach Mac is lauded for his recruiting. It feels like we were in the Dark Ages and have emerged into the 21st century. By spot-lighting prospects early, we will probably lose a few to other schools. However, I think we’ll keep more local talent because more are being identified and offered. [[applause]]

Continuation from last night’s problem with copying the Wash/Wahine VB game to dvd’s…….
I called KFIVE this afternoon and left a voicemail for John Fink. Didn’t get a call back. I’m sure he’s a busy guy, but I was disappointed. I really wanted to get a non copy-protected dvd from them. But, I also know that they may not have one. When I first started to send dvd’s to Iraq, I had to pick up the tapes at KFIVE and take them to a multi-media company to have dvd’s made. That was too much trouble since I was really busy on active duty at Schofield. Eventually, I just bought the recorder and started making my own dvd’s…with the proper authorization from the UH Athletic Director and KFIVE.
Let me stop this long story and get to the point….is there anyone who has the original broadcast of the game on dvd? That should be the easier way to make copies quckly for Rob25 to send overseas. If you do and are willing to share, please drop me an email at tsaiko808 at yahoo com….please help!
Don’t know if they’ve shown this before, but HDFSW is showing the top 100 mind blowing moments in sports. Down to the last 10. Great stuff.

ANYONE UP FOR PRIVATE WATERFRONT SEATS IN DOWNTOWN HONOLULU FOR THE FIREWORKS ON FRIDAY, JULY 3?
In addition to its first fund-raiser this Tuesday, the Friends of Falls of Clyde will be holding a potluck bbq and fireworks viewing on Friday, July 3 on land next to the ship. People will start to gather around 5 pm and eat starting around 6:30 or so. The fireworks show sponsored by the Aloha Tower Marketplace will start shortly after 8:30 pm.
Parking and other info about what to bring will be out within the next day or two which I can then pass on to anyone who’s interested. I don’t want to post it here so please send me an e-mail to swood at hokudotcom. NOTE: This is a family-oriented function although people are welcome to bring beer or wine.
Unfortunately, the fireworks show in Kailua the next day will not be visible from BayView Golf Course because the ridge separating Kailua from Kane`ohe will block it.

Good evening Tsai-kos!!
RIP Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.
Back in the early 70s, it was the Jackson 5 and the Osmond Bros. Late 70s and early 80s, it was Off the Wall, Thriller and the Motown 25th anniversary special.

Looks like Landon would like to come though.
I would like to welcome all the BIG BOYZ who have verballed today.
Mahalo much and hopefully you all will be at Blaisdell or wherever signing day is to sign on the dotted line for the Warriors.
By the way,
Is there any info on whether Benson Maafala and Chad Lopati have qualified for U.H.
I am not sure if there has been any info on this.
I know that if they do not qualify, then both are going to a J.C. in Arizona or something like that.
Was just wondering if anybody knew anything.
is anybody there
am I by myself
kama….papa sapolu has been overheard saying that its a soft verbal to osu. methinks he wants his sons to play at his alma mater.

i thought another site had mentioned that both will either go the jc route (2 yrs) or possible west oahu for a year.
Where’s the late night crew when I need them
Al,
It would be nice to have all of Jesse’s sons in the Black and Green.
Hopefully going happen
how about a 6’5″ de?
i know where there’s one who would be a great get for us.
Wait Wait Wait,
I know of someboby from the North Shore that is about that height and plays DE.
Are you saying something Al
Hey Al,
You think me and you can make it to 400 or do you think we need help.
easy, easy, easy tiger.
no read between the lines on this one. just saying he would be a great get for us. he is leaning towards byu.
the presence of church is important to him. that is why we still get chance.
byu appears to be having one of its greatest recruit classes in a long time.
we need help.
all of the old guys went sleep already.
I’m up but getting ready to hit the pillow.
That’s what happens when I take the kids to see Transformer movie not realizing that it was almost three hours long.
Oh and it would be nice to see Jesse’s boys playing for the Warriors.
Oh and thanks to Ryan Mouton for giving me some info on free safety vs strong safety!
I’m so glad that he is my FB friend.
I figured. Just wish we can actually land a big fish like him rather than play second fiddle, especially to somebody like BYU.
Hi Rob25
Thanks for the pics c_c! BTW….just wondering if my ‘Boys won that game.
I think the eyes are getting a little heavy
Might be time for me to hit the sack
Hi kama krab!!
Rob25: Ah, that’s what I forgot to do, I was going to respond to your questions.
Good nite kama krab!!
My eyes and my body is telling….GO TO SLEEP!!! 👿
Rob had questions?
jason….check your postal service.
Well I think your right Rob
It’s time to go to sleep
Ho and hows me still up making like I no have to work tomorrow morning

FYI ….
The Bears wasted no time in moving Pisa Tinoisamoa into the starting lineup.
As organized team activities ended, coach Lovie Smith announced that the former Ram will be the starting strongside linebacker. Tinoisamoa beat out Hunter Hillenmeyer for the job.
Where’s the rest of the Tsaiko night crew?
kama…i am thinking that tsai has great news for bust out since he already gave us that kailua recruit earlier instead of at midnight.
stick around
Okay one last post…
Ralph, my questions were on my FB page. Just asking about differences between free safety and strong safety.
Okay..for real, good night gentlemen…(and any ladies that may be lurking). See you on Aloha Friday…oh, wait, we’re already there!

Closing in on 400, need help from the night shifters. Hi-flyer?…Ralph?…Wafan?…Al??
I guess we’re gonna have to leave it on the 2 yard line!
OK…I got it to the 390 mark!
Yeoman work ahead! Gotta carry the rock in for the score myself!
Hmmm…No back up. Time running out.
No time for trick plays. Straight ahead ‘smash mouth’ football.
Wow! Coach calling for the field goal unit…I’m pleading with him to go for the win not the tie!
Ok…ok…he says, “When I get my own team…well, you no the rest!”
396…we are inching our way!
It’s a trick play!
The snap comes to Inoke, he stands as it approaches…
…He’s on the move to the right side as bodies come pouring thru the line. He sprints to the corner of the end zone!
