Ailing receiver withdraws from UH
Wideout/kick returner Jovonte Taylor has withdrawn from UH after suffering serious symptoms from a viral infection. Taylor lost more than 20 pounds. He has withdrawn from his UH classes, and returned to his home in Los Angeles. He is expected to return in January. Taylor, a junior, already has used a redshirt season. He might seek a special exemption to make up for missing most of this season.

Keith AhSoon is one medical clearance away from returning to the Warriors. He is hopeful of being able to play Saturday against Nevada. If he is cleared, he would compete at left tackle.

Defensive tackle Rocky Savaiigaea is scheduled to undergo surgery Saturday to repair his partially torn left triceps. He hopes to be ready for the start of spring training in April.
Happy birthday to Rocky and Solomon Elimimian:

The UH coaches went into overtime last night, working until 9:30 to prepare for today’s one-hour practice.
There are some changes planned, but not in the way that many fans imagine nor only in what head coach Greg McMackin hinted during yesterday’s news conference.
McMackin isn’t adverse to making innovative changes — remember when he revamped the defensive scheme for the 1999 O‘ahu Bowl against Oregon State? — and he has a lot of chips he has not used this season.

You have to like Brent Rausch’s positive attitude.
Despite being held out of essentially two games because of a clerical error that the NCAA did not recognize in time, Rausch refused to be bitter.
He watched the game on television with teammates who also did not make the trip to Boise.
“It was kind of cool to see it from the other side,” Rausch said. “I followed the boys. I got excited for them. It was cool.”
As for his status, he said, “I’m coming along, getting bigger, getting stronger. I have to wait my turn.”
Rausch is not going to pursue another, uh, rules interpretation he might have with the NCAA. He worked his first year out of high school and did not play football, although the NCAA ruled that his eligibility clock started. He only played one year of JC before transferring to UH in May. Even with my limited math ability, that still figures to mean he should have four years to play three UH seasons instead of three to play three.
Rausch thinks so, but won’t appeal further.

Don’t forget we’re giving away tickets to Saturday’s football game against Nevada. There will be separate contests tomorrow and Friday. Also, The Twins are in possession of the jersey moi won at yesterday’s Na Koa luncheon. They will figure out a contest to give away the very collectible jersey — it was that white one with the silver numbers.

Aloha Kakahiaka!
So Phil Steele’s latest bowl predictions has Hawaii vs. Stanford for the Hawaii Bowl.
His score prediction last week was Boise 33 Hawaii 7.
Liz goes for the block on my hat trick postings.
Morning Liz :>
Carried over from the last entry:
Some comments from Rolo to BC.
re: Mack’s comments
We’re a passing team…We’re gonna have to throw the ball to win; it’s what we all want to do.
re: GA in BOI game
He’s made a little bit more progress…did some mature things…there was urgency…went thru progressions…..got to his 4th progression….#2 guy by not a very wide margin….
re: BR
He’s probably gotten the short end of the stick…he’s being a good teammate…been in the weight room, is over 200 #
HiHo….
Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Wow top ten two mornings in a row!
Must be a sgin of good things to come!
Hiya Liz!
Hey Rob25 – have a nice journey to cowboy land and give Frank our best
Good morning Tsaikos…
Can’t wait for the Nevada game to see what adjustments Coach is making. From the sounds of it we’re going to be passing a lot more. Two QB system? Hmmmm.
Mav-
That Hawaii Bowl matchup would be interesting. Stanford’s line is huge I heard.
d1島 – two games ago, i noticed that BR was the first one to congratulate Inoke everytime he came off the field
Rob25 – Have a great time and safe travels. Say Hi to Frank for us.
Hiya Rob25, sorry, Mav, Hey d1!
Check out Ferd’s column… I put my early morning thoughts there.. now gotta HIHO to work.
My son- Ukuleleboi- is looking for a place to bunk and a ticket (contest or boxoffice possibilities) this weekend. The cheap flights are Friday night and Sunday night so he’d have to arrive before and leave after me.
If can, can… if no can… next game.
HIHO!
top 20!
Good morning Tsaikos!
Thanks Loa!
I agree about the Hawaii Bowl matchup! Let’s take one game at a time and hopefully the Warriors can make our Christmas wishes come true. Unfortunately, I won’t be in Hawaii to see the game…but will be watching from Stockton.
GO WARRIORS!
Rob25 – have a safe and joyful trip. Give Frank our Aloha!
Stretch – Will do! Frank and I will raise a beer and hot dog in honor of our Tsaiko family. See you when I return!
Thanks Hawaiianbod!
I haven’t seen you in a while…don’t forget to come to the tvgates also.
Kden, I REALLY have to get ready for work…tsai.
in case you missed it, this is what coach mack hinted yesterday in his press conf.

They do have some good size on that line.
Plus some very good wins so far. Oreg. St, San Jose St., Arizona and Washington.
Brent Rausch – love youe attitude, drive and patience, Keep up the good work! Warrior Nation support you!!!
Re. 4 years to play 3, IF CAN, CAN. IF NO CAN, NO WORRIES!
Morning everybody!
Maverick,
I would love that Hawaii Bowl matchup because UH would be able to beat Stanford at Aloha Stadium, in my opinion…and I am a Stanford alum.
I’m guessing that Rausch figures that he doesn’t plan on redshirting so the start of his eligibility clock doesn’t matter. Still, with how little he has played 11-man football and how if he redshirted (say, next season) he’d have 2 years to play after Inoke and Alexander graduate, it would be nice for him to get his redshirt season back.
The Bud lite Rolling Cooler-Cooler Roller Man sez “Good Morning” to Koakane and his merry band of Tsaiko’s!
The D will have to stop this RB, as Nevada will use him and others to try to dominate with their running game. That plays into a strength of UH’s D, so this will be an interesting matchup! La Tech moved the ball on the ground okay even though their QB couldn’t throw, so this will be a harder test for the D.
I’m glad that Beck got the ball for Bess so that he can always remember his first NFL TD!
Bess talked about how the Dolphins.
Good Morning Tsaiko Family!
Liz – since curveball only needs 2 tickets, I have an extra one, if Ukuleleboi has a place to stay. I just have to figure out how to get the tickets from my nephew to curveball…
First Steven A. Smith files his column via Blackberry, but now SI’s Peter King is doing it to. I wonder when sportswriters like ST and Ferd will be issued Blackberries…at least they wouldn’t have to hunt for WiFi access when on the road.
Someone posted the YouTube clip of the ref to stopped South Carolina’s QB in their game against LSU. I think Kekoa asked if the ref would be punished–the answer is no.
Did Rausch go to college his 1st year after HS? Why would his eligibility start then? I thought it only started when one starts college. Either way, sounds like a great kid with a great attitude.
morning Tsai-ko country nice bright and sunny day
hi to patnah in da ceded plantation hale. up early eh btw got my email?
also howzit to others lurking about. again a safe journey to rob25 plus give my aloha to frank.

Happy travels to rob25. Have a great trip and time alone(?) with hubby.
Kekoa, you need to replace da soapbox for Mrs. A-house and da odda Tsai-kettes.
OK back to work and lurking.

Please do not include the fried ‘ride’ to my order midori…I’m to quit!
Tank Q,
Glad Brent Rausch stays positive but if it was me, I’d still be a little pissed inside knowing I went from 1st to 3rd/4th QB in such short time without really getting any game reps. Regardless, if this years QB controversy has been mind boggling, just wait until next year…
Lets see we will have Funaki, Alexander…Seniors, Rausch…Junior, Jantz, Nielsen, and Austin…Freshman…hmm…wonder how that’s going to play out. Plus Kiran and Bryce are still around too right?
da princess’ classmate,
Howzit, I think Roderick Flemings is every bit the player that everyone is raving about. Some of my good friends have said that he is a true baller and will be one of those mentioned along the lines of Trevor Ruffin, Tes Whitlock, Anthony Carter, Justice Sueing, etc… Hope he is as good as advertised and can put UH Basketball back in the NCAA tournament.
whoops! here’s the last part to the menu. sorry!
let’s hope I get things together enough to post the complete menu without any typos…try again tomorrow.

Jack Flash – i have parked at LCC the previous two seasons and then caught the bus to No-Aloha Stadium. I have no complaints. Lots of parking and security patrols the parking lot. You’d be surprised how many people use this service. Children under 12 were free.
Kind of too late now to do to the O Line what needs to be done. For next year, the coaches should run the O Line hard. Two miles a day to begin with, every day except Sunday. Three miles a day everyday during regular season, followed by sprints. Five sprints across the entire field, every day, before and after practice. We need guys who can go full speed for six quarters. If our guys can do this during practices, then they can and will go full speed for four quarters with relative ease, without slumping over, hands on hips, gasping for breath.
We have big guys. All we need to do is to get them into better shape than their competitors. We have been too soft on these guys, as well as the rest of the team with regards to conditioning. UH needs to institute a program involving more running. Weight room training appears to be sufficient. We just need the entire team to do more road work. The lack of road work, for the entire team, is apparent. Our guys keep running out of gas early, there is no explosive burst after the initial contact, and guys fall down after the first touch.
In football if you are more fit than your opponent, nine out of 10 times you will beat your opponent.
Our O Line and Receivers are just not fit to the point where they are regularly and routinely beating their opponents, one on one and as a team. More important than personnel changes at this point, UH needs to understand that the fundamental flaw in its approach is in conditioning. All that off season running does pay off.
Speaking of security patrols.
Sometime during the San Jose game, someone “borrowed” my grill and charcoal. I hope that it get’s returned to my parking spot this Saturday so we can cook some food. Maybe I should buy another just in case it doesn’t come back??
My friend mentioned to me there was an article about how that San Jose game had a lot of “borrowing” taking place. Grills, chairs and coolers.
Whoever took all these items would have had to use a truck to load up. Wouldn’t it look funny to see a truck driving around stopping every so often loading up stuff?? Where is security??
PB
IIRC, demello said he’s been watching practices, says this da most athletic team in a while, lots of throwing down gonig on and not only from flemings. nitoto set the bar high with his vertical, flemings’ is gonna try and break it once his ankle is feeling better. s/b an exciting team with nash’s up and down style that he wants…
oooh forgot to mention yesterday….
thanx much to ST, midori7, and g-nalo for running the contests and the prize…
need that kinda luck in vegas…hope it lasts
Today I ENJOYED Bobby Curran cutting certain people off.
#52.
Well lemme elaborate… Yes I do not agree with him cutting people off in general, but at the same time I probably would have changed the station anyway had I listened to that caller from the Windward side any longer.
Sometimes I wonder… “when I complain, do I sound whiny and stubborn and narrow-minded?”
used to really like bobby c’s radio show, but the babbozes that used to call in all the time turned me off. different atmosphere on Mon, tue, thu and fri on 1500. wednesday is definitely bobby’s day though. gotta ignore portnoy at all costs…
dpc,
Wacchu talkin’ ’bout, Willis?
I’ve been known to call in now and then 😳 Gotta watch what I say now! 😆
ooh sorry bout that w/ egg all over my face
babbozes in general (pretty sure no one on this blog) gotta watch what i write might get myself in trouble.
d1 = babbozes hahahaha good one
pboy…..i believe that it was reported that kepo’o has “retired” from football.
i think we also pick up another qb recruit this year.
Stretch – that’s pretty pathetic. Batchi on those low-lifes.
One of local news station i was watching actually had a report on tha very subject. They even interviewed a victim. Tents, coolers, beer, et al were stolen.
NO SHAME THOSE GUYS!!!
just got a call from auntie mary medeiros, jr. she said, “eh no go ruin da pordagee language ova hea. spell um right and say um how supposed to be. gunfunnit. its babooze. you babooze!”
sorry al, d1 is a baboooooooooze den
stretch…..you should call scott chan at the stadium and bring it to the attention of the na koa as well.
tha=that
al – good suggestion as Scott Chan already knows my name…. hahahaha
Kazz/dpc – yah, BC was on a roll today. LOL. I usually don’t listen to 1420, well, except for Wednesdays. NO CAN!!!!!
Anyone know whether LB Blaze Soares will be playing this weekend?
just bring your white board back.
if she hassle you, tell her, ‘eh at least i paid for my sugar bowl trip.’
Maverick, that Geoduck stuff is hilarious. Is that for real?
I don’t think Blaze will be ready for this game.
HBod- thanks for the report. We’re thinking of catching the shuttle so we can drop the kids at the funzone, and the adults can watch some games in the Aloha Zone tent- namely Ohio St vs Penn St! I’ve never been to that area in the parking lot so I’m curious to check it out.
Stretch,
Eh, das right!
…and don’t let me fo’get it! 😀

No forget. The plural form of that word would be baboozeses… 😆
After watching the Mack show last night and reading the posts here, it’ll be interesting to see what the changes to the O will actually be.
No worry, we not.
Speaking of baboooozeses – howzit DPK
Um, howzit Stretch. And howzit to all the rest of the baboozeses!
what and wheres the aloha zone tent. need an invite to get in or can just walk in.
usually go to the spiral in the south end zone, get 4 tv’s to the different games. last home game was awesome, had game 2 of boston/tb, mizzou/okst, lsu/fla
.
When I turned on my radio it was on AM1500 but they were on commercial, I usually leave it on, but for some reason I wanted to tune to Bobby Curran’s show to check out all the naysayers and all the couch potato coaches calling in to give their “wealth” of knowledge to Coach Mack on how to win 🙄 .
Sure enough I caught the butt-end of some caller questioning Rolo at QB coach amongst other things.
Now, whether by design or instruction or just pure “homerism”, Bobby Curran went to bat for the UH coaches today and cut this guy off. Now, it did seem like the guy “won” the “argument” because BC hung him on him, but the fact remains that ANYONE with ANY kind of coaching experience in ANY sport knows better than to listen to the criticism of outsiders looking in, including the fans, ESPECIALLY when it comes to matters on the field.
The last time a coach attempted to take advice from the fans was… umm… vonAppen.
In 1999… JJ was a god.
In 2000… people said this was not the right offense for UH and JJ should have been fired.
In 01, 02, 03, 04 … silence…
In 2005… we went 5-7 and the villagers went to Manoa with their pitch forks and torches looking for JJ’s head.
In 2006… the seeds of a magical season were being starting to sprout… JJ is awesome and so is Colt.
In 2007… JJ… “will you marry me”?
In 2008… we loose JJ, the entire offense of 05, 06, and 07, we loose to #5 Florida were 12+ guys can run a 4.3 40, we loose to OSU that beat USC, and now we are back to trying to find out pitchforks and torches.
C’mon people of Hawaii!!! (Excluding TSAIKOS) Get your act together!!! Freakin’ morons!
People can whine all they want, their attitude change starts with the fan in the mirror!
so sorry for starting all this BABOOZE talk. hukt on fonix wurcs for me 🙂
da princess’ classmate- The zone tents are in the upper Halawa lot, grass areas. You can see the tents from the freeway ramps. Its free to go in if you catch a shuttle from an alt parking site, or else its $5. I forgot about the S. endzone setups! That might work too. hmmm…
Go Warriors.
Send the Pack back to their kennels with their tails between their legs.
kazz
ditto!
Good late morning Tsaikos….still trying to adjust to time differences…
Kazz…I gotta agree with al, ditto….
Stretch, what?? They took your grill?? Stealing a man’s grill is just plain wrong??? Sorry to hear about that.
Anyone going to call the coach tonight?? Is there a call the coach tonight???
Okay…gotta hele…be back later.
Morning all…
I just got one question..
“Babooze… babooshka… babalooo….”
What’s the difference?
Stretch,
You should send a picture of your stolen grill to Robert Kekaula. Isn’t he our go to guy for these things?
It really sucks that you can’t enjoy a tailgate and not have to worry about these kind of things happening. Some people, I tell you…
I think I have the answer, d1… dpk… al….????
Stretch,
Ya really want to imagine DPK as someone’s babooshka? …shudder…
Kazz,
Right on!!
Bozo Boyz are not feeling the love in upper Kalihi valley right now. So Stretch, you better include them with the Babooze family in future references to Baboozka-like scenarios.
Reply to ‘ midori7 ‘ : Can you add 2 reservations (for me & my friend Clyde) on November 1st @ Therapy Sports Grill? I’ll probably have the Eggs, Meat & Rice & he’s planning on an omelet (subject to change). Mahalo!
MAHALO, Ronnie!!! We’ll keep working on the accommodations.
Go Kazz, Go Kazz, Go Kazz, Go Kazz!!!!
Bulla,
Good luck to the Wildcats and the Beast as they take on NAU.
well looks like royce p to get some pt this weekend. should be good for him and for ML. still no can understand how we are a dog to a reno team that has traditionally not played well here. more often than not, they don’t play well anywhere other than in reno. and just 2 games ago, they gave up 48 at home to a NMSU team that also usually doesn’t play well on the road. last in the nation in pass d, and from the sounds of it, we’re gearing up our passing o for this week’s game. i guess i must be just being a homer…
Ken Niumatalolo (current Navy head coach and former UH QB) mentioned how some Hawaii fans turn on the starting QB when he struggles. I think that Inoke can relate to this…
Kazz,
Well said!
d1Shima
Good luck to your son and Linfield when they play Willamette this Saturday!
PRAYERS TO JAVONTE TAYLOR. GET WELL SOON AND TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST. FOOTBALL CAN WAIT.
all the best to jovonte. yikes.
happy b-day to rocky and solomon.
Best wishes for a full recovery to Jovonte Taylor…
My prayers to Jovonte for a speedy and complete recovery. All this time, I thought it was just the knee that was keeping him out.
But it would be nice to have AhSoon back. He (him?) and Letuli on the left side … 🙂
Good luck to Rocky on his surgery and best wishes for a full recovery..
get well jtaylor, hope you get better, worry about football later, take care yourself first and when the time comes, i hope the ncaa allows you a medical redshirt.
that’s strange, why would ahsoon compete at left tackle and not at left guard, where’s he more suited. oh well, if that’s what the coaches want then that must be the right move. hope he’s ready.
Happy Birthday to Sol and Rocky…and many more to come!
Best wishes to Jovonte Taylor. I hope that he has a full recovery soon!
Happy birthday Rocky and Solly two young men who are great role models for Hawaii’s youth.
***Jovonte*** not “Javonte”… excuse me.
I hope that Ah Soon is cleared by tomorrow, or it could be hard for him to be able to play vs. Nevada. I was expecting that he’d go back to guard, since he was playing there earlier…but he’s experienced at LT also.
Happy Birthday Rocky and Sol!
DPC: At this point, AhSoon at left tackle and Letuli at left guard might be better than AhSoon at left guard and Letuli/Kia at left tackle.
DPC,
Maybe ST meant to say LG and not LT.
It is too bad that Rocky will miss the rest of the season, but the earlier reports had pointed to that. He would definitely have helped out vs. Nevada because they will try to run the ball a ton and UH will need to rotate DTs.
Ronnie:
I can pick up and deliver the tickets to Curveball as long as everyone is on O`ahu. You can e-mail me the contact information swood at hokudotcom if you need my help.
LizK:
Please let me know by Thursday morning if you do not have a place for your son to stay – see above for e-mail info. I’ll need real names and your contact information to pass along.
Really good friends of ours have a spare bedroom and assorted kids in high school. I can see if they can put him up. They live in upper Kalihi Valley which we drive by to and from Windward O`ahu.
Question to anyone: I am not an early morning radio person under any circumstances so the comments about the two sports shows pretty much fly past my eyeballs – except for the ones about Jeff Portnoy. I’ve known him for years and years – in things theatrical, political, and athletical – especially when he headed the basketball boosters club when Stan Sheriff was still with us. What about Jeff irks people around here? Last time I talked basketball with him towards the end of the 2007/2008 NBA regular season, as usual he seemed to be quite knowledgeable about the sport.
Jason
that’s probably right.
Bad news regarding Javonte. I hope his recover is a swift one at home. Looking forward to his contributions next season. He’s going to be a great asset to the Warriors.
Maybe AhSoon’s return to the OL was one of the things Mac referred to when he said that they would be shaking this up on the OL for the Nevada game.
I’m more interested in seeing Keala’s face, after what Coach Aranda said happened. (And glad to see there were no complications from his bloodied face, considering his medical condition.)
Get well Jovonte! May God heal whatever inflection has overcome you. Keep the faith.
Kudos to Rocky, Kealoha, Ryan, Blaze, The Bear, Tyler. Keala, Brashton and any other injured Warrior.
And Kenny Niumatalolo will be facing June Jones in this weeks matchup. Good to see former UH players and coaches going at it at the D1 level.
Jovonte please take care and get well soon.
Me too.. sorry.. Jovonte.. NOT Javonte…
Rocky!! Going to miss your play this season, but heal fast and be da “man” next season! Your leadership will be counted on.
How did K. Watson injure his face?
Aloha!
Happy Berfday, Rocky & Sollie!!!
GO WARRIORS!!!
Esme & out…….
Kazz: I think it got hit somehow during one of the plays. Although, maybe I misheard face for arm, or maybe I’m mixing things up. I’m not exactly sure where my mind is right now, I could use some sleep.
Garret,
We received a thank you card from Clifford Sanchez (Rainbow Cliff). Thank you very much for coordinating and getting our check to him. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his son.
Kazz & Jason – there was a play where he tackled the guy from behind and his helmet came off. We were told at the Na Koa lunch that Keala’s mouth hit the back of the guys shoe during the tackle and split a lip.
Happy Birthday Sol and Rocky!
Celebrate on Saturday with a beatdown on the Pack!
Thank you, now I know I’m not going crazy.
Happy Birthday to Rock and Sol!!
Happy birthday Sol and Rocky, celebrate with a victory over Nevada.
Best wishes to Javonte Taylor, take good care of your health-viruses can be very nasty
Sorry to hear of your illness Jovonte…Take care, get well and join your Warrior brothers on the field of battle next season!
Happy Birthday Sol & Rocky!
Get well soon to JT! We’ll see you in Spring all better!
Good luck to da Bear. Hope to see him play Sat.
Well the twins declined to take over the weekly pik’s contest so I will continue with them.
Well it’s time for the timeout special Uh vs Nevada

See some of you at the t-gate.
As always… GO W A R R I O R S!
hey rob25
think romo gets “forced” into playing this week…
#137 – was dat da troublemaker babooze xs-homey?
Oh, and have a nice vacation Rob25. Some good ‘ol Texas beef jerky sounds good right now. Hmmmmm, I wonder if she will be bringing some back?
jm2375 – Ahem, it’s “BABOOZER”!!!!
At first glance I thought someone branded a honu on Keala’s arm.
Did I break the blog? Helloooooooooo.
Happy B-Day to Sol and Rocky….
Too bad about Jovonte Taylor…but he needs to take care of his health first. Football will come later….Get well soon.
Happy Belated anniversary to Stretch and Stretchette…..
Is there a call the coach tonight??
Okay….
Well here is some WAC stats on Nevada
#1 in Rushing Offense
#3 in Passing Offense
#1 in Scoring
#1 in Total offense
ℌℴℳℰℽ: I know who you are…where you been hiding?
so fancy homey… who you trying to impress?
James no think just go….that’s how I won the helmet. And can you give Coach a hug for me! 😆
(J)J – You can call the coach any night. I think jm2375 needs a crank call.
Rob25…ha ha ha…not thinking….just wanted to know if anyone else was going….I will be getting there late again….
and have a good trip…hopefully dem cowboys will catch a break…or a football…mwahahahahaha, just kidding. Godspeed…..to you (and Frank)….
Rob25 – I’ve been walking the streets looking for a day job.
chawan – Currently, I’d like to impress Brooke Burke. How about you?
Warriors defense gotta shut down the Nevada running game. No can be like Fresno St and depend on 6 turnovers. But then again, the defense forced most of those turnovers…just don’t give up the big plays and control that line of scrimmage…protect da house!!!
GO WARRIORS!
WHOO HOO, t-gate Saturday! Anyone besides Koakane wearing a costume to the t-gate?
Homey….no lie, you been doing all the crank calls eh???? BTW, where has Koa Mahu been? Haven’t been online for a while since I was in Tampa….has he/she shown up????
Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery to Jovonte Taylor.
Having Ah Soon back this week would be great.
Happy Birthday Solly!
Happy Birthday and Speedy Recovery to Rocky!
Hope Keala Watson is able to eat this week.
Wonder if Coach Aranda will follow thru on his plan for game prep for all the DL this week?
Brent Rausch – let em play
Homey,
You mean you haven’t been wearing a costume all along?
(J)J – I don’t know. All I know is that since you were gone Koa-mahu never showed up on the blog. Did you two go to the conference together and share a room?
d1 – Yeah, I was wearing my old Filipino man costume all this time. Comes with green bottles.

Hauoli Lahanau Solly and Rocky!!!
Prayers for speedy Warrior HEALING!
Jovonte- Godspeed and come back soon!
HIHO!
we were the reason for the largest attendance at Boise???? what? so sad.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronco_Stadium
Bronco Stadium’s current attendance record is 32,342, achieved on October 17, 2008, against Hawai’i.
you would’ve thought they would increase the capacity of their stadium instead of building the luxury boxes.
what’s sad is that they don’t even sell out the place all the time.
I was looking at the word “godspeed” and was wondering how fast is godspeed?
he>i
chawan_cut,
Luxury boxes make a LOT more money than regular seats…from a revenue perspective, a luxury box is probably worth hundreds of regular seats. Plus, those sell out well in advance normally so that is money in the bank no matter how the team does.
chawan – but those luxury boxes will make them a lot of $$$.
OK I feel better because if that’s their record then we can beat them even on a down year.
ℌℴℳℰℽ: You could impress Brook Burke with your chopsticks skills. Show her how to pick up raw oysters at the speed of light!
Analysis that tries to figure out how the conferences rate. The bottom part of the WAC really hurts the WAC’s power rating. I agree with the SEC and Big 12 being at the top, but I was surprised at how the Pac-10 wasn’t much above the MWC…I’m guessing that Washington and Washington State are really bringing the conference score down.
chawan_cut,
I was thinking the same thing when they flashed that on the screen.
Fuuny though, I saw many empty seats in the upper level. Must have been tickets issued.
Rob25 – maybe if I show her my geoduck? What you think?
Homey,
Rob62 would know???
i just read their ’07 in review portion of their media guide. the most they had for a game last year was 30,681.
and good point stretch and fancy homey. still wondering where all their $$$ comes from. Famous Potatoes??? where’s all those rich boiseans coming from?
d1 – Yes, Rob62 would know.
Another Nevada stat…#1 in punt return avg.
chawan_cut,
Super-Size Fries
hiya xs-homey. oysters and n/a green bottles?
Godspeed, as a word, is a wish for a prosperous journey, success, and good fortune.
mmm. geoduck poke…
HIHO!
chawan – I don’t think Stretch is that Garret…
XXLiz – Yep, you are covered!
chawan – 1 r 2 t’s dammit
today is the first day i slept in and I missed bobby’s show in awhile…
im dying to know who he cut off because there are some callers that definitely need to be hung up on.
Homey,
You my hero. If you were a woman, I’d marry you!
Stretch,
Watta babooze, eh?
duffer – Now you are really scaring me! 😯
Sending Happy Bertday wishes to ‘Sol’ and ‘Rocky!’ Pound for pound, the best at their respective positions in the WAC!
Go Warriors!
d1 – I looked up babooze in the dictionary and one of the definitions was “chawan-like”
Wow! What goes on over on the Dark Side anyway?
Who is the person with the five boxes for a name? i assume that the boxes represent letters in a non-Roman script which I don’t have installed on my ancient computer.
Kekoa,
Pound for pound, those two pound and pound!
I was just reading about the UH men’s basketball team and looks like they got some hops on the team!!! But then again, bench press isn’t their forte.
Hopefully they have chemistry and take the WAC by storm.
WDoc,
It’s the Blockhead Tax Guy.
Whoever is going to Call the Coach tonight, please have a $1 Heine or two for me. I would ask ST, but he can’t handle more than one.
chawan_cut,
I looks like every one of those luxury seats that BSU added to the stadium is sold out, and they bring in big money!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Homes, it’s so fast it happen while you thought about it happening!
Yep, chemistry cause it’s damn difficult for one person to lead a team to the NCAA tournament. UH may have that 1 player but other teams have 8 of them. Just gotta gel, get in rhythm, hit the open man, drain the open shot, box out, play tough “D”, win the ball, out hustle the other 5, and things will fall into place.
GO BOWS! Let’s go BOWS, Let’s go BOWS!
Sorry for the Bball tangent…
I’m not sure what the face value of a BSU ticket is, but let us compare what they would get by adding luxury boxes vs. what they would get by adding an upper level of their stadium to increase attendance. If an upper-deck seat cost $22, then the cheapest seat in their new section is worth 100 times that! And I would assume that the luxury suits and the seats closer to the 50-yard-line would cost much, much more than that!
Garret can calculate the revenue/budget for luxury boxes at Aloha Stadium.
Garett can figure out how to build it.
Da baboozes can figure out where to sit wen they pau.
The Bud Lite Rolling Cooler-Cooler Rolling Guy sez…Homes chill. It’s not quite B-ball season yet, no push!
i am a lame babooze’n chawan_cut ain’t i?
but not as stupid as lou holtz. i’m not surprised this hasn’t gotten more press:
http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2008/10/lou-holtz-apologizes-for-hitler-comment.html
W-Doc- mahalo! Will let you know about “da boi” as soon as I hear back from my oddah friends.
When Aloha Stadium gets their luxury boxes maybe Stretch can buy one for us.
chawan – you can make up for it by jumping the wall at the stadium and making a sack on the Nevada QB.
kekoa – Never to late to cheer on any team.
GO WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD TEAM!
For comparison purposes, the luxury boxes the Texas Longhorns have 2 price levels (depending on location), and cost around $100k and $85k per season…NOT counting the crazy prices they charge per person in the luxury box. The $100k just gets you the right to buy crazily priced tickets in that luxury box. Texas has at least 111 (I don’t know if they added any in the construction that completed before this season), and when you add it all up the luxury boxes may bring in more money to Texas than UH’s entire athletic budget.
I think that it is shameful that Mack Brown and DeLoss Dodds (the AD) broke their contract to play at Aloha Stadium. That was such a wussy thing to do and I let the Texas fundraiser who called me later that year hear about it, plus I never donated again to their athletic program.
But for those like A-House who bring up how they should come to Aloha Stadium, Texas makes something like $4 million per home game, maybe more when TV is factored in. If they play a WAC team, ESPN will cover it and Texas gets nothing. As a public institution, they want as many home games as possible and can’t just give up $4 mil to satisfy UH fans.
The SEC is going to be even worse after their new CBS contract kicks in. If you remember that article, a school like Florida or Georgia will lose something like $5 mil for every out-of-conference road game…and CBS will actually kick in money for them to offer teams to play them at home without a return trip to the other school. Public Universities will find it very, very hard to justify flying to Hawaii to play a game, where the travel costs will basically eat up the stipend UH gives, when they can pay some local Sun Belt or C-USA school $1 mil and pocket the other $4 mil.
The Pac-10 does NOT have a new lucrative TV deal, and they have much cheaper travel costs to Hawaii, so I hope that JD is able to schedule as many Pac-10 teams as possible!
I wanna be 200.
With UH not owning its stadium, it seems like luxury boxes are not going to happen…and even if it did, the Aloha Stadium Authority would probably figure out a way to get a big piece of that revenue.
I wanna be 201.
Good timing homey!
Sorry (J)J.
WOOT WOOT!
(J)J – premature on your counting again I see…
Stretch,
If it is any consolation, at least 10% of the people here use two “t”s in my name…that confuses me even more because I have to figure out what they are talking to.
“what” = “who”
Screw the luxury boxes at Aloha Stadium!!!
WHERE ARE THE ONO CHEESE STEAK SANDWICHES AT THE NORTH END ZONE CONCOURSE?!?!?!!?!?!?
PRIORITIES PEOPLE!!!! 😆
I thought I read somewhere that the Stadium plans to have luxury suites. Is this different from luxury boxes?
i’m not jumping the wall. unless someone catches me. who do we know that has media passes?
i like the movie forrest gump….
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SOLOMON ELIMIMIAN AND ROCKY SAVAIIGAEA!!!
BEAR, NO RUSH MY BIG BRADDAH, THE TIME WILL COME AND THE TIME WILL BE RIGHT.
homey plane,
I like this one:
I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floatin’ around accidental-like on a breeze. But I, I think maybe it’s both.
dang this movie. i need a tissue.
btw- we will miss Nalani this weekend but she gave me the green light to share last weekend’s songfest!
hiho!
Homes ~ Women’s Track & Field? Sing a few bars of their war chant or cheer for me at the T-gate! When do we make noise for the defense of the inside lane during the 880?! What about during the discus, when can we let out a loud CheeeeWhooooo?! Will Vili be out there for the javelin throw with a matching toss of his spear side by side?
Will Virginia be sending the cheerleaders to the meets?
One thing I always remembered from “Forest Gump” was that Bubba’s real movie name was Benjamin Buford Blue.
chawan…I love Forrest Gump….
Forrest: “Done Drill Sergeant!!!”
Drill Sergeant: “Guuuuuummmmmmmp!!!! Godd***** it Gump. Why did you assemble that weapon so quickly Gump?”
Forrest: “Because you told me to Drill Sergeant??”
Drill Sergeant: “Godd***** Gump. If it wasn’t such a waste a such a God**** fine soldier, I’d recommend you for OCS. Carry on Gump.”
Bubba: (continues) “…shrimp burger, shrimp stew, pineapple shrimp….”
I actually like that quote from the Hunt For Red October:
“Dr. Ryan, I’m a politician, which means I’m a liar and a cheat and when I’m not kissin babies, I’m stealin’ their lollipops.”
MWAHAHAHHAHAHA
Kekoa…we need to try to get the Rainbow Dancers/Cheerleaders stop by the T-gate for a few minutes before the game…I wonder if ST can put in a word with them…..hmmmmmmm…..
XXLiz – Thanks for the vid!!! Looks like I’ll have to sing with the radio again!
Kekoa – I don’t know about cheering but we can have the twins put their mojo fingers to work when the other teams are ready to high jump, long jump, or pole vault.
i hated jenny for what she did.
Homey…that’s right. The twins have the awesome mojo. At least I was able to view that action from Florida live from Murphy’s courtesy of A-joe…..awesome.
Nice, Jesse. For military stuff, I’ve always been partial to Full Metal Jacket. My buddy and I spent a year after it came out using “What is your major malfunction, numbnuts?” every chance we could.
Mike…that’s a good one too….I like FMJ as well.
chawan…yeah, but by naming his boat Jenny, Forrest got good luck and survived the hurricane…now he has 12 Jennys…..MWAHAHAHAHAHA
“… this is my rifle, this is my gun. This one’s for shooting, this one’s for fun.”
Chawan,
The funniest thing about Forrest Gump was not even in the movie itself, but the reaction of a guy sitting behind me in the theater. I will always remember this.
It was during the scene where Forrest visits Jenny and sees her son whos name is “Forrest”. He asks, his name is Forrest too? She says she named him after his daddy, then Gump replies, “He has a daddy named ‘Forrest’ too”… THEN after saying this, the theater starts laughing, but the guy behind me says, with the deepest tone of disgust, “what a f**king idiot”. 😆
I dunno, I thought it was pretty funny.
Chawan,
I kept waiting for Forrest to dial 867-5309 to call Jenny.
I hear ya brotha… 🙁
****ing c***. 👿
Pretty funny, Chaz. I remember watching “Schindler’s List” with my friend Brian. He sat through the movie with the most serious look I’d ever seen on him, then afterward he said, “I thought that movie was great, Jew?”
Yeah, yeah. Boo!
Homes ~ The word on Da Fort Street Mall is dat on Nov First the Mojo team known as the “Voo Doo Dolls” will be signing autographs at the Therapy TV-gate by putting their fingerprints on your Sushi after dipping them in Bat Blood!
Go Warriors…work dat Mojo Babeee!
mike,
ha, good one.
there’s soooo many good lines and moments in that movie.
that one where he asks her to marry him, and she denies him, and he says:
“I’m not a smart man… but I know what love is.”
they also had really good special effects in that movie too. with Lt. Dan’s legs, and all those presidential flashbacks.
i thought they were gonna make a 2nd book/movie…
ohio vs temple on espn2.
i wonder if the cancer will try to get his “peanut-head” on tv somehow.
(thats not my nickname for him. you can thank last year’s C&K show for that one)
Hey- Where are C&K this year???? DId they grad? Their show was the coolest way to get to know Blaze 😆
Chawan…or the line where Lt. Dan says…”you guys twins or something..” to Forrest and Bubba and Forrest says “We are not relations…”
jesse,
i like the Hunt for Red October even more now.
i also liked this one:
Jenny: “Have you ever been with a girl, Forrest?”
Forrest: “I sit next to them in my Home Economics class… ”
ok, back to football. hopefully blaze can come back for this game.
good to hear about the bear.
thats the worst “strawberry” i’ve ever seen on keala. did he get that on the blue field?
not so good about javonte. hopefully he gets back to full strength and can return to help us out in the spring.
happy birthday rocky and solomon!
lizk, i miss the C&K show too. they said they were coming back this year, but maybe school got too busy for them.
afternoon tsai-kos man it was hot and humid out hea.
Happy birthday to Sol and Rocky. Here have a piece of cake. Heck, take the whole cake.
Looks like Watson’s elbow was flayed. Well, at least the first few layers, anyhow.
LizK . . .
Uh, I do not speak Lizese. Could you please translate?
Over a year ago we discussed the topic of the singular and plural forms of the word babooze. I had saved a copy of, I believe, Las Vegas’ breakdown. My computer crashed and I ended up losing that information.
Anyhow, from what I remember:
1 = babooze
2-3 = baboozes
3+ (many) = babeeze
WUDoc . . .
Received the package today. THANK YOU!
Good luck to Jovonte!
Get well and get healthy. Then return next year and tear it up!
Nothing like Mom’s home cooking.
Just a friendly reminder….
GET YOUR FLU SHOTS PEOPLE!!!
Got mine today… either that or the government can now track my whereabouts.
just 1 LAME babooze today.
me.
>>Got mine today… either that or the government can now track my whereabouts.
Then again, if you ever get lost, they can return you to your owners.
Is it too early to get nervous about the Wolf Pack’s running game. Or their rush defense? Nevada can be had through the air, but we know how that’s gone recently…
First of all, who says they’d return me and who says I was “lost” as opposed to “seized”…. :shock;
Second, “bend but don’t break”… While Nevada may get 200+ yards rushing, I expect them to result in nothing but fumbles and at the most a field goal here and there.
Their passing defense has been suspect according to the stats, but while things haven’t gone so well for us lately in that field, it is also the prime time for our passing game to pick up against what seems like a weak secondary for Nevada.
It seems like what the doctor just ordered for a case of the passing blues.
Mike, BTW, what the heck is happening to the Jack In The Box menu???? They’re turning into the next Arbys with those prices!
Midori7
Please put Lopaka43 and the Mrs down for the Tsaiko TVGate at Therapy SportsGrill to watch UH vs Utah State on Nov. 1 at 9 am. We would both like the Eggs, Meat, and Rice breakfast.
Thanks for pulling this together. So much more fun watching with the Tsaikos!!
Aloha,
Lopaka43
Hence that general is skilful in attack whose opponent does not know what to defend; and he is skilful in defense whose opponent does not know what to attack.
For the longest time, I said I needed to watch Forrest Gump. I’d go to Bubba Gump, eat dinner, and think to myself, “I need to see this movie, see what it’s all about.” But I never did. Then one day, I’m looking for bargains at Suncoast, and I saw Forrest Gump on sale. Wow. What in the world had I been missing all that time. Great movie. 🙂
We are 3-4 on the season and 2-2 in the WAC. The 2008 WAC Championship is out of reach barring a unique situation…. We need at least four wins to get the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.
We have our backs against the wall?
Confront them with annihilation, and they will then survive; plunge them into a deadly situation, and they will then live. When people fall into danger, they are then able to strive for victory.
-Sun Tzu
Jack in the Box needs to go to that Arby’s 5 items for $5.99 deal. Ultimate cheeseburger with bacon, stuffed jalapenos, monster taco, cheese&bacon fries and a giant drink. I’d buy that.
I hope you’re right about our passing game. This could indeed be what Funaki needs to regain his swagger. Salas has been looking good when he gets his looks. It’ll be scary without Pilares, who’s been the most potent offensive force this season, but Libre should be up for more work.
Best video bargain at Suncoast: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid for $2.99.
Coach Mack promised changes, evaluations, and more adjustments and additions… practices are now closed this week to the public….
BTW, Tombo Ahi had a blog bet with Kevan of the Boise blog OBNUG. UH lost, so Kevan’s story got posted on Tombo Ahi’s blog. It’s a hilarious read:
http://uhfootball.blogspot.com/2008/10/rival-blog-bet-reckoning.html
I wonder how the blog got into talking movies and Forrest Gump upstream…..
For some reason I’ve got a bad feeling about this game (against Nevada). I don’t know why, but it was sort of the same eery feeling I had in the days leading up to the Oregon State game.
Hopefully the boys can prove me wrong on Saturday and put us back at .500 heading into the lightest part of the schedule.
Arbys is kinda out of my way from where I work to where I live but I love their Market Fresh Sandwiches. Their turkey and bacon is awesome. 8.00 but awesome!
But as far as our passing attack is concerned I am already expecting to see different receivers not all but some and as Coach Mack said, a different QB in passing situations. Based on this and Nevada’s statistically weak passing defense, we could all be pleasantly surprised.
So…. um… anyword on that Bolla fella there at Manoa? I saw ALOT of new and “tall” faces on the Wahine’s roster this season, seems interesting.
No bad feelings sir! Pulehu balot will do that to you!
But Nevada is no OSU and we are at the Rust Palace and our team has improved in a lot of areas since the Weber State (prior to OSU) game. While our offense has been up and down I don’t blame anyone for feeling a bit apprehensive as when the offense is doing well, the “foot” on the “gas pedal” does seem to ease up in the second half.
Again, things are better since the OSU game.
Kazz,
It’s all preseason sweetness and smiles in practice so far. Keep an eye out for Rebecca Dew, a 6-3 center who can really get up and down the court and has a nice touch around the basket. She looks like a future all-WACer, and she’s being groomed as a starter for the New Zealand national team. Arbuckle is also going to be very good. UH hasn’t had a polished, athletic scorer like her in a long time. Now if they can just do something about those turnovers…
Does anyone know where Nalani is gigging on Maui this weekend? Is it a private party? Chanes of my winning tickets on Wendensday or Friday are partically nil!
Chanes – Chances
Wedensday – Wednesday
Partically – practically
Yee Haw! This week’s game in on ESPN Gameplan/ESPN360!!
WassupDoc – Thank you so much for the offer to pick up the tickets from my nephew. I will email you with the details once I have them. I think you could just give them to curveball at that T-gate.
Gotta be careful about reading stats on the WolfPups.
Overall, they are giving up a ton thru the air with an overall opponent pass efficiency of 136.39. A chunk of that came @ Mizzou. 27 of 36 for 519 and 5 TD’s
But they did “hold” Texas Tech to 19 of 46 for 297 with 2 pics and 1 TD.
NaMaSu did touch ’em pretty good: 28-47 for 409 yds; 1 int, 3 tds
Significant to me is 0 sacks in either of those games (6 in the opener vs. Grambling) but this stat is growing as the season goes along: UNLV-2; Idaho-4; NMSU-3; Utah St.-5.
Gotta protect da QB-whoever it is…
Call the Coach notes:
Coach Mack rehashes the BSU game and says that one guy he is worried about for th future is is their QB as he showed good composure under pressure.
Coach thinks Colin Kapernick is better than Jake Locker.
Coach ranks Nevada’s oline up there with UF and OSU compared to the other teams UH faced this season.
B.C. asks Coach Mack about the oline being weaker on the outside as opposed on the inside and Coach Mack is stands by Coach Smith and Gerke on working on the oline and gives credit to BSU’s DE simply out working our tackles.
Commercial break…. Coach takes calls next.
sorry, 0 sacks in either Mizzou or TTU
Ronnie:
Thanks ..I am off wed so if I need to do something to get them let me know..
Jason,
Was that movie like a box of chocolates?
Mike..
if the government wanted to keep track of you, they wouldn’t put it in a needle… they’d simply put you someplace where they can do so effortlessly… ya know.. budget cuts, national security, guantanamo and all that.
Kazz….
I see you are still just getting warmed up for Saturday.
Ok…. reception in office is HORRIBLE and I am getting irritated. I can’t take it anymore.
Sorry I can’t do more Call The Coach updates.
Kazz,
BC is calling out all the folks who were calling his show this morning to “man up” and Call the Coach…
Mack says BR is a young “Colt”
feels bad about the humbug of the last 2 weeks
Mack is wondering if the show goes back to Reno….
On defense they will set up with a 10-man front and leave the eleventh guy on the bench
HA! They won’t do it. Coach potato coaches will freeze when conversing with an ACTUAL COACH.
😯
Kazz,
I made up one of those.
heheheh
Oh… ok… GOOD.
paipai is getting surgery soon
Here’s the big question… did any Tsaikos win prizes?
Did I mention we have two autographed Rainbow Dancer posters for tomorrow’s contests?
kazz, mike,
can’t wait for basketball season.
both men’s and wahine. yes. even the bolla led team. i guess i’ll see you guys at both.
i did see the new lineup for the wahine. got a few more aussies. hope they all work out for the best!
10 more days!!!!
Speaking of basketball: So yesterday, when I went to get my season tickets, I asked what the best available aisle seat was; the guy said row 10 (second row), seat 1 (on the band-side aisle). I asked if there were any seats available in row 9; he said no. Today, I checked online to see how ticket sales were going (tried to guesstimate by the best available seat). And there were choke seats available in row 9! In fact, had row 9, seat 12! Ack, I would have taken that over the seat he gave me. Blah!
Chawan,
I saw a few of the new Wahines in person last Friday at the men’s practice…. BTW… anyone know when the next practices are, if they remain open to the public and if they will be at the SSC or Gym 1 or 2…. but yeah they look impressive as do our Rainbow Warriors.
I think this basketball season will be a pleasant surprise for many.
BTW… WHY THE HECK ARE WE STUCK WITH A MONDAY NIGHT 11PM GAME?!?!?!!?!?!?
And …
WHY DID ESPN SCHEDULE THAT BASKETBALL MARATHON DURING THE WORK WEEK?!?!?!?!?!!
I guess I missed it but what happened to Paipai??
Stretch,
Not sure. It was something Mack mentioned in passing
speaking of Bolla – what ever happened to the “investigation” that UH was doing?? Do we have to put up with his ways for another season??
I think a while back Paipai mentioned a nagging injury, probably back from his Kahuku days, that would need surgery soon. I wanna say it’s his knee, but I’m not sure.
Kazz: Yeah, too bad it isn’t the Monday night before Veteran’s Day or Election Day. I think the concept is cool, but I would prefer something where I don’t need to go out to school the next day.
Just putting it out there — normally I catch the bus home, but obviously it’ll be too late that night for that. Anyone heading west can give me a ride back, I’d appreciate it. Otherwise, I might not go. (Although I do want to be part of such a cool concept. Jim Donovan said on the radio once that if ESPN finds success with this thing, then they will give UH that time slot every year. The more national coverage at home, the better.) 🙂
Since people can sit as close as they want to the action during the Wahine games, I say we should sit directly behind the bench and all make as much noise as we can cheering for the Wahine and then when Bolla turns around from time to time we all give him the SAME look he gives his team when things don’t go so well.
It’s basically a “I don’t wanna be here” look.
Or
Maybe we should hurl comments questioning his sexual preference and see how he likes it… oh wait… those are just allegations right? I think the investigation is still going on and depending on certain things, the details may not be “public record”.
11pm start time, maybe finish about 1am?? I might as well drive straight to the airport and sleep a few hours in my truck before going to Kauai. It wouldn’t be the first time.
Jason,
Since that 11pm game is going to be nationally televised, I shutter to think what the attendance will look like and how it will appear on tv. I REALLY do not expect a good crowd simply because of the very late night time slot and it being a Monday night.
Hmm… sounds like “design” more than “circumstance”… then again that will be like 5am on the East coast on a Tuesday morning.
Jason,
Can you say “Bunkie” to Stretch?
heheheh
Stretch,
We had a few for you tonight. Very few Tsai-kos there tonight. On the plus side both Mrs. Heinekein Healer and sjmacro won shirts tonight. No helmet but the grand prize was an autographed football. Two sets of Sheraton Bowl tickets were also given out.
Since Rob25 won’t part with the helmet 🙂 , sj is planning to send the shirt to Frank along with an autographed picture of Rob25 & Coach Mack.
Well it’s time for the timeout special Uh vs Nevada, a game that Dan Kelly is waiting for.
24 – 17 Pomai
27 – 21 HiFlyer
30 – 24 LizKauai
31 – 27 mp
37 – 28 Kazz
63 – 12 homey
myki – unfortunately I came back from Kauai too late to go to the Call the Coach. I was able to listen to the tail end of the show.
Rob25 leaves tonight, probably at the airport already.
Pomai,
Thanks for the reminder.
tonight’s news
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B59g_3vZuBY
jason, i think Nash was saying that he was going to make that late game into our “midnight ohana”, whereas there’ll be stuff to do before the game.
i can give you a ride home afterward. that is late though. 1 AM. i think i’ll be sick on that tuesday.
d1shima: I might consider sleeping over at the dorms or something, too. I have class at 9 AM; gotta set the alarm for 6 in order to leave by 7. 😛
I say after the game, students should be able to participate in a SSC sleepover. 😉
Here’s the setup:
It’s the end of the second quarter, with 21 seconds left in the half. UH is on the Nevada 23 with fourth and 8, Mack sends in Kelly for the FG. Kelly is stand back at the 40 with the clock ticking, just as it reaches 3 seconds left he calmly turns, looks coach Ault in the eyes and signals for a timeout, he then just smiles and walks calmly over to the uh side chuckling under his breathe , then kicks the FG to give UH a 17 point lead, then turns once again to the Nevada sideline and pumps his fist.
chawan_cut: That would be great, thanks. And yeah, I double-checked to see if I had any tests or anything important that Tuesday. I might want to check with my professors … 😀
Jason,
Geeez….with a pillow fight and hot chocolate, too? 🙁
By the way, the link includes a 30-second interview of Bess about getting the ball from his first NFL TD.
Q&A with Bess.
I didn’t realize that you could be arrested if you didn’t return a football that landed in your yard. This 89-year-old woman was arrested and charged with petty theft because she wouldn’t give back a football that landed in her yard.
The DoD is spending $46,790 for a portrait of Donald Rumsfeld to be put up on a Pentagon hallway that already has a portrait of him from the first time he was the defense secretary. I didn’t realize that spending $35k was considered cheap for the portraits in the Pentagon. NASA spent $25k for a portrait of Daniel Goldin, NASA’s longest-serving Administrator (almost 10 years).
Re your #317: I’ve had my carppy $30 analog cellphone for 27 months now and the only text messages I’ve ever gotten are from AT&T wanting to sell me something. I have never sent a text message – I don’t even know how – and can’t understand why someone would want to do so when one can just push a buttom for a pre-programmed number – have over 90 in my directory – and leave a message if the person doesn’t answer. What is texting’s attraction?
Makes no difference as to who gets what as we’ll be sharing.
W/Doc ~ Specific instructions can be given in text msg – clear and concise. No need to say, ‘Hah?’ what you sed?
It’s a quiet way to get your msg to someone in a meeting. They can sneak a peek and maybe even send an answer…and no one is the wiser.
Sometimes you don’t have time for a full blown conversation, so you can send brevity coded msgs.
Send pics to describe what the item you just considered buying looks like…or…show Dr. Doc that it was just a small dent on your car, but look at how the other guy’s car looks like! Send a pic of where the broken fan belt you need replaced came from.
Use your imagination Doc. Put all those PHD’s and BS, MA’s and BBL’s to work for you.
Hope Jovonte gets well soon being at home with a lot of TLC. We’ll see ya in January!
Midori7, count me in for the UH breakfast of Champions > omlettes.
Morning guys-
BHF2 >>> U heading over this weekend for the game?
bhf2,
One of those shoulda, coulda, woulda’s…
When I returned to PDX from BOI on Sat I overheard the RAC agent next to me say, “Man. That was the craziest rental I’ve ever signed out; a $1.00 per day one-way rental to Boise!
Evidently, they were in need of more vehicles in Boise at that time. I asked how one would find out about a deal like that in advance and was told it was pretty much “luck of the draw” that this renter happened to look online at the right time.
With a deal like that, I woulda driven over myself!
oops…gomen….
Great Morning All!
Hope erryboddy has a great day!
HiHo…
d1shima,
When Lori was trying to get us a flight to Hawaii during Thanksgiving or Christmas, all the websites (Priceline, Kayak, Orbitz, etc.) were quoting her $1300 per ticket (and that is before fees and/or taxes) for each of the 4 tickets we needed. Then, Priceline had someone on their site that said that she could save money if she would take a rental car too. With us taking the rental car, it came out to $1400 for *4* tickets with the rental car included, and after taxes and all fees it came out to $1500. That includes upgrading the rental car to a midsize for $1 per day.
So, we went from $5200+ to $1500 by agreeing to let them give us a rental car! This time I won’t have to cockaroach Mom’s car while we are in Hawaii!
WassupDoc,
For the last 2 quarters, the number of text messages sent has exceeded the number of calls made by cell phone users. Some people, like you and Lori, don’t send any text messages, but others more than make up for that.
d1shima,
I’ve never heard of a $1 rental car deal though…that is crazy. It does make sense that they would need extra rental cars in college towns on game weekends, so that is something to look at for future games.
Good luck to Daniel Lofton in his new role as returner! He must be excited to get a chance to really contribute in the Nevada game…just remember to hold on to the ball!
This Cal football player deserved to be kicked out of school.
Although I don’t need the tickets for the game, I am looking forward to the contest today.
looking forward for more information about this. thanks for sharing. Eugene
