Defensive end Naim Mustafaa told the Warrior Beat he has accepted an offer to join the Rainbow Warriors.
Mustafaa said he cannot comment further or participate in training camp until he is accepted into UH. He has paid the application fee and submitted his documents. The Warriors open training camp tomorrow, with first-year players reporting. The rest of the players report on Thursday. The first practice is Friday, beginning at 10 a.m.
Mustafaa initially made an oral commitment to Georgia before deciding to play for Oklahoma State. He graduated from high school a semester early to enroll in OSU’s past spring semester, enabling him to participate in the Cowboys’ offseason conditioning program and spring training. He left OSU after the spring semester, then contacted UH.
Mustafaa said he arrived in Honolulu this past Saturday. He said he notified the UH coaches of his decision to join the team yesterday.
Unless he earns a waiver, he likely will have to sit out this season as part of the NCAA’s transfer rules. After that, he will have four years to play four seasons.
