Muir gets release
Blake Muir, who started 12 games at left tackle, has requested — and received — a release from his football scholarship.
Muir recently underwent shoulder surgery and was not expected to compete in spring training.
David Griffin, a transfer who begins classes tomorrow, is expected to compete as the No. 1 left tackle. If Muir had stayed, he probably would have moved to left guard.
Ben Dew, Chauncy Winchester-Makainai, Mike Milovale, Kody Afusia and Kiha Sai will be competing at left guard in spring training. Each has the flexibility to play other positions.
Muir is a good guy and good player. Wish him well with his future plans.

The UH coaches have been on the go this week. They made visits on Maui yesterday and are visiting prospects on Oahu today.
The next two weekends will be devoted to hosting mostly local prospects.
Best of luck bro!
Wow- was I first?
@TheD_Zone:
Pioneer DB Dewan Olive-Abinojar was offered by Hawaii just now.
Ah, now I see the problem with posting.
Sometimes when you initially try to click on the “comment,” it does not highlight, thus preventing you from posting a comment.
That happens to me quite a few times.
Best thing is to refresh the page or re-type the site. Eventually, it will allow you to post.
Not sure why that happens, but it happens to me frequently. Must be a computer thing.
Kaleo_1 are you shocked? Lol
gobows:
Thanks.
I would hate to be an announcer next year.
Wow Top 10!
Why is he leaving?
Ohayoooooooooogozaimasu!!!!!
So . . . what exactly is a B.T.’s version of a “responsible” newspaper? For the SA to K.A.? Just ignore the very real shalacking ND took? Seems this brand of “be more responsible”‘s kin to North Korean News’ “Great Leader provides well for all of you” rhetoric in every single edition when you got kids starving and smoking cigarettes in the streets Of Pyongyang instead.
Was supposed to ignore it, too, if the son committed some kind of crime at South Bend, say?
Would hate for bruddah to run a newspaper.
Uh, speaking of “trust,” hoo-hoo, Ben Jay, in today’s SA own edition . . . “you will trust us again.” That can be taken as a demand [a decidedly “Borg Jay,” yes] or as a promise, heh. Well. We’ll see if either rings true. In meantime, we got more Ben Jay song-a-rama song lyrics to cel’brate this inaugural BEN JAY week!!! To the tune of John’s and Taupin’s Benny and the Jets!!!!!!
Calvin Say and UH coaches have you seen him yet?
He’s the new AD, Buh-buh-buh-Ben Jay won’t keep any secrets
No ‘blunders [I think] and that’s just simply wonderful
Oh, Ben Jay he’s really keen
He’s got Ohio boots
A Buckeye suit
I think I saw it on UH Magaziiiiiiiine oh ho!!!!
Buh-buh-buh-Ben Jay won’t keep AD secrets
Ah. Ya’ humble a Grease, classic and classy The Warrior Beat posteur, DPK; and, as many of you know, a Grease sure needs some humblin’ at times 😛 .
Take care, Da Punchbowl Kid, and all, have a great day.

Sad to see Blake leave but if he is unhappy it is good that he leaves now. Hope he ends up in a happy situation.
Good luck to Blake! Thank you for your contributions. Wishing you a successful next step in your career. Hope we recruit more OL for the upcoming year. 1 or 2 more would be a nice compliment to all the speed guys.
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
True confession: tommui is really tom mui.
Maybe ST should walk past ADs door everyday and peek in?
Good morning everyone!
Good luck to Blake Muir in his future plans!

tommui~you spilled the beans!
Why so many dbs?
Sad to see Muir leave…From all accounts, he was a good kid and worked hard in practices, etc. I really think Chow needs to look at what he’s doing and assess whether he’s relivent to the new generation of players. Tough love doesn’t work everywhere.
Chow needs to recruit OL recruits quickly…I hope he’s also assessing the coaching of the OL. Maybe they need to make a change there.
ST: Realistically, how many more players can we expect to leave the program? Are there many more? I’d rather be prepared for departures versus being surprised. Sad stuff, Hawaii used to be a great place for people to play football.
Did Von ackerin leave? I thought he was on the fence
That frees up another scholarship for an upgrade. If Muir wasn’t going to be a team player and change positions, then his release does not concern me at all. Griffin must be a significant upgrade over Muir if he’s already slated to be the #1 LT.
The pass protection in general was awful last yea especially at the OT positions. Inexperience and lack of overall talent really got exposed in 2012. I felt sorry for Schroeder since he’s getting hit on every pass play. he took a ton of punishment.
Griffin has a big task of protecting Graham’s blindside in 2013-2014. The only knock on Graham that I could find when he was at Ohio St was that he was injury prone. If that’s still the case, the LT will be the most important position. Based on Muirs performance in 2012, Graham would probably only last a couple weeks before getting wrecked by blindside rushers.
From all accounts he’s a good dude off the field, but sound like he’s unwilling to accept a new role, then that raises some question marks.
Luckily, Clarke appears to be a very good center and Griffin appears to be a significant upgrade. it just a matter of the returnees improving their games and using their experience from starting as underclassmen. Usually the 2nd year of starting will be a big improvement over the 1st year, regardless of talent.
As I said previously, things like football sometimes reflect what life will be like in the workplace.
UH is still a great place to play football, maybe it is not right for the folks leaving but that’s life. I worked in a place where the boss was a terrific person and really built the company. He decided to retire and a new, energetic person came in to take his place. The company is doing very well but I don’t see the company moving in the same way as I was once comfortable with. It is time to find another place that is more of my fit.
Sounds familiar? These young men either have that great sense to move on where they are more comfortable or need to understand that and “get a grip” as that’s what they will face in the real work world. Grumble and be unhappy in the workplace, adapt to the new philosophy or move on to where you’ll find happiness. Only in the real world it’s a real paycheck.
Gregory retires.
23. Nothing to do with being a team player. Muir was going to start and he was only going to be a soph. More to do with not liking the way coaches treated certain players.
Anyone know where vasquez haynes is?
Jeezy,
What’s up with Vasquez?
No idea.. Thats why I’m asking. I dont think he is here yet though.
22.
This is what cleaning house looks like. I would expect a few more to drop out. ST expects a recruiting class of 29, which is a big class.
Anytime you have a major change in coach and systems, you see major changes in the roster during the new coach’s 1st full recruits class (2nd year). The 1st year is usually a patchwork job with a shortened recruiting timetable and using the previous coaches players in a system that they weren’t recruited for.
Don’t worry, it could be worse…. Wazzu lost 18 players during the year by either them quiting or getting thrown off the team. FYi the Marquess Wilson accusations of abuse were proved that Wilson fabricated them and the staff did nothing abusive. Just tough love. But from speaking with Wazzu alumni that I’m close to, Leach is hauling in an impressive recruiting class like Chow.
Chow has actually won over a few common recruits that Wazzu had interest in. 2013 will be a vast improvement, but I truly think 2014 will be the year UH steps back into conference title contention (whichever conference that is).
JTL- I heard something similar
30- yup put chow right up there with leach….
morning everybody and da sun 😎 da sun whootahhhhh
man has it been chilly this past couple of days 😯 but no matta still bestest place to be
just read breaking news (pun) there is a fiber optic break 😉 causing data service interruptions. but seems to be working hea
30. I wish I could take you serious but why would we keep Sean Schroeder, Kapua Sai, Bubba Luna, etc if we were just cleaning house over guys who played meaningful minutes this year who are freshmen? Ikaika Woolsey didn’t play and you don’t see Chow telling him to leave.
Majority of the guys leaving are because they didn’t like the way coaches ran the program and how some players were treated. It happens. It’s not because the coaches are just cleaning house. You don’t just cut players like Amadi(Boise) and Blake Muir because you want to clean house.
Aloha Blake. As the anticipated and expected transition continues, we realize that change is not always met with an amicable exchange of breath. Unfortunately, the fallout from change is often a necessary by product for all parties concerned. Even in a static environment, things don’t always go mutually perfect. To that end, I say much aloha and mahalo to all Warriors on the move.
Good morning Tsaikos!
Best wishes to Mr. Muir in his future endeavors.
Hello.. This is Division 1 football.. Not Ayso soccer…
My mistake on earlier comment. Kapua retired..
Wow, surprised to hear that about Blake. I thought he was going to be a four year starter…
Good luck to him.
Is it just me or do we seem really thin on the OL?
#31
I hope your not talking about Will Gregory….
keeping my 😐 mana’o on ad BJ on the downside till I see what kind of magic he performs. doing the same on Chow’s ❓ regime.
plus I still like JD 😀
I had only spoken with Ben Jay on the phone prior to his arrival last week.
During a volleyball timeout, he came up, shook my hand and was really nice and positive.
Then he looked down and noticed I was playing Words With Friends on my cell phone.
Hey, those are really, really long timeouts in volleyball.
For those who have read Hawkpeter’s posts over the past few months the implication was that one of the main issues was training philosophy and preparation in terms of strength training. It sounds like Blake ended the season lighter than he should have. Anyway, not the time to rehash the details.
In terms of FUHA’s comments about weak line play… sure, the O line had some issues. Blaming that on Blake as a starting FRESHMAN is absurd. Implying that the only reason he is leaving is because he does not want to move positions is weak, especially if unsourced. The only good thing about being forced to start a Freshman at a critical position like that is that he will be back next year with more experience. Losing a guy with that much playing time going into his Sophomore year is rough — especially a guy with a 3.89 GPA.
I do not have much confidence in chow. That is a known fact. This lack of confidence is based on chow’s performance and decision-making record thus far.
I remain optimistic, like most of you, that chow will do a good job, and, as a local boy done good who has returned to his roots, we all want chow to succeed.
That being said, I am still not convinced we are moving in the right direction under chow. The recruiting thus far is ok, but it is not great.
The replacement coaches and GAs are ok, but not great.
I hope I am wrong, but if you are only “ok” in recruiting and replacement coaches, you have lost two out of the three critical battle areas you need to shore up if you intend to compete at the top in the conference.
If we are not at the top of the conference at year’s end, I say UH parts with chow. The community will demand it.
Jeezy:
Vasquez should learn today whether a high school credit is approved. If it is, he shows up this week. If not, then he shows up in the fall. No risk of losing him because he already signed a letter of intent.
Muir should have transferred before the season. He has to redshirt wherever he goes, so now he becomes a two-for-two player. Plus, he’s coming off shoulder surgery. But it is fortunate he has a release. Without one, he would have had to pay an extraordinary amount as an international student.
Heard somewhere that our recruiting class was tops in the MWC. This was prior to Boise announcing their return. Anyone know where we stand now?
…….oh, and Go Warriors!
I think Van Ackeren is going to Montana.
The coaches liked him. He would have been welcomed back.
By the way, I do like the mix of players that Charlie Wade has on his roster.
Re: #4 Comment Link
You can also click on the thread title and it will take you to this page that shows all the comments, from there you can post your comment without a problem.
This bug is something that recently showed up on other SA blogs also. This should be reported to your I.T. person,it is fixable.
Go coaches, get dem local recruits!
Now who thought Lance Armstrong wasn’t doping? Raise your yellow wristband.
Wait, don’t all rosters have a mix of players?
jeezy…
Transition is never easy. Especially when a program is stuck in complacent mediocrity in 3 of the previous 4 years. You opinion was echoed a lot at Utah St, La Tech, and San Jose St when they hired Anderson, Dykes, and McIntyre respectively. All three coaches cleaned house and built their programs from the ground up. Those three coaches combined for 10-27 records (27% win percentage) in their 1st year at those programs. Chow went (33%) not good by any stretch of the imagination, but is off to a better start than the aforementioned coaches.
Sometimes you have to tear down in order clear space to rebuild. Not everybody can walk into a talent rich roster like Urban Meyer and tear it up their 1st year.
Even Nick Saban got a ton of heat from alumni/boosters when he went 7-6 his 1st year at Alabama. I’d say he’s done pretty well once he got his player that buy into his way of dong things.
Again, transition is never easy and the returning players are in a tough spot. Chow and Mack are completely different personality types. I can’t blame a coach that pushes his players beyond their comfort zone to improve. It goes beyond football. Pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone is the only way to improve yourself… Doesn’t matter if its football, grades, or your line of work. Your skills don’t improve if you don’t work hard for it.
Colin Kaepernick doesn’t get the start over Alex Smith if he only does the normal for a young back up QB… Tadd Fujikawa doesn’t qualify and nearly win the Sony Open by not sacrificing social life and fun in exchange for practice and dedication to improving his swing.
To get better at any thing, you have to work hard at it. To me, that’s not too much for a coach to ask from his players.
I think football practices appeared tougher because it was a more physical offense. There will be changes in the way they do things this year.
I think 2012 would have been difficult if Mack had been coaching, too.
Transitions aren’t always smooth. We’ll see what happens this year. I think it’s going to be fun to see Taylor Graham, Ikaika Woolsey, Steven Lakalaka, Brian Clay and the 2013 recruits play this year.
Aren’t the vb timeouts shorter than last year? IIRC, they were 1:45 last year and are 1:30 this year. Noticed that timeouts in the non-UH matches were 1:15. Need to make the timeouts 1:15 and the “intermission” 5-7 min.
Jimmy:
Not always in Provo . . .
Blake would have had a huge challenge trying to beat those guys out at left guard and I think he saw the writing on the wall, but here’s the thing. Where does a guy with his background go? It’s one thing to bring in an athletic 6’6″ 270 guy like Collin Scotts or a huge manchild like the 6’7″ 400 Mark Nua from a foreign country that doesn’t play the game on a national level. The ceiling for those guys were what they wanted it to be. But Blake was gonna constantly face guys across from him that were more seasoned and simply more athletic. Good luck to the Aussie but I think he’s getting the wrong advice or has already been told by the coaching staff they intend to find better prospects and maybe already have. Even if no other guy is signed Leo Koloamatangi would have eventually beat him out. Maybe as early as next year. Much more athletic and just has a higher ceiling.
The timeouts might be shorter, but the breaks aren’t.
You know the breaks are long when the coaches don’t even talk to the players during the timeouts. Most of the timeouts are called to break an opposing server’s rhythm. I really think they need 30-second timeouts.
Then again, since I’ve been playing Words With Friends, I don’t mind as much. Well, except when every match ends at 9:55 p.m. and my deadline is at 10.
Want to speed up the game, implement rally scoring…yeah right. 🙄
53. These players aren’t leaving because of playing time or being forced out. I don’t know what you don’t get. Some like Armstrong probably left for PT reasons.
You stated the coaches are cleaning house. You don’t clean house on good, young players.
I don’t attend a lot of practices so I can’t say whether coaches are doing things the wrong way or not. I just know that according to most stories, players don’t like the way coaches handled a lot of things. Lot are leaving because of it. Those are the only facts that are out there.
Ben Jay.
In pictures, Ben always appears more like a Bishop St. banker than an AD. If he does get the Athletic Dept. into the black maybe those Bishop St. banks will come calling with a better offer.
I love volleyball, but it was pretty difficult to play 3-hour matches on three consecutive nights.
57…did you read the link? It says in no uncertain terms that Blake wants to play for coaches with integrity.
I’m sure Ben Jay is capable of doing a good job.
Then again, I’ve never really cared about the finances of the athletic department. Unless the department is defaulting on scholarship money or can’t pay the electricity bill, I think everybody but the AD and financial manager can sleep well at night. Their problem, not ours.
ok the fiber optic break only affecting phone service
They blessed the AD’s office yesterday and AD Jay said he consulted with a Feng Shui expert.
I would have suggested they bless the whole campus and Feng Shui’d the whole place as well…
We will need it and we have ALWAYS needed it.
Kevin:
Wife knows a former classmate who believes in Feng Shui. The guy actually uses it to prepare when he should go to Vegas and where he should sit.
I don’t need Feng Shui to know the best place at a blackjack table is where the dealer stands.
You always look good when you win, but let’s give credit where credit is due. Coach Wade pushed the right buttons during the tournament and especially against the Bruins. When players make plays, the decisons are always good. Nice job Charlie!
#66 & 67 😆
Just wanted to draw attention to a message that Blake wanted me to forward on.
‘I acknowledge and thank the supporters of the UH football program and the state of Hawaii for the opportunity to be a UH Warrior. I have invested a great deal in the program over my time here, it saddens me that I feel that this move is necessary. I wish the UH program all the best for the future.’
To clear up any confusion. Blake was not asked to leave. He made his own decision.
#57 to point out how utterly fatuous your remarks are, the facts are that Blake holds several ‘all-time’ athletic testing records for OL at UH. He graded out as the best OL in at least 5 of the 12 games last year and as of this morning already has 2 offers for scholarships at a Big12 school and an ACC school.
He would rather stay.
Rather than go into it here, the focus should rightly be on the new players who are looking at the program now and will be joining in the near future.
If they feng shui lower campus they may find the stadiums are in the wrong places.
Howzit, Gang!
Was trying to get on to post, but the “xx Comments” thing seems to not work. Had to go to yesterday’s blog, and then follow the link up top to get to today’s.
Anyways, gotta run, but saw this on Yahoo today…
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/recruit-decommits-usc-lane-kiffin-pulls-scholarship-three-165651928–ncaaf.html
Just wanted to share it with you guys if you haven’t seen it yet.
Back later…
Thanks for clearing that up Hawkpeter.
I think you could make a case for a player not being treated fairly anywhere at any program. I remember in 92 several disgruntled players quit the team during the season. Go back to the Dave Holmes, Larry Price, Dick Tomey, Bob Wagner eras and you’ll find instances of unhappy players, guys leaving the program, or accusations of favoritism. Just a fact of life that you’re not going to be able to keep some 100 individuals (and their family members) happy all of the time.
Having only 75 scholarships is tough.
Dissapointed but not suprized that players are leaving. When you suit up less that 60 on a home game day, what does the other 50+ players not suited up and regulated to the stands, think? Maybe not them personally but, hurt for their friends and just don’t want to be a part of it. True, Coach must get his type of players, and maybe the whole process of this football team is so different from the previous teams, but I still feel for the players.
Old School:
I remember there was a player who quit the team during the ’92 season.
Later, he asked if he could get a Holiday Bowl ring.
#70, yes it is best to let Blake “make his own decision” …. lol
As the athletes are expected to adjust to the changes, so too should the coaches. Learning must be done from top to bottom. The best results of change are made fastest when both sides move towards each other.
Of all of the departures, I thought Jared Leaf’s was the saddest.
He was a frickin’ hysterical guy.
True talent — and I’m talking personality wise — is a rare gift.
A long time ago, I did a story on a young boxer who endured a family tragedy. Even though the boxer’s situation was very sad, he spoke with such passion and, often, humor. The boxer was Augie T.
Good thing every school in the MWC doesn’t adopt IT’s philosophy on what makes a good coach.
11 schools a year would be looking for a new coach every single year.
Nice.
Heard Augie T’s testimony, too. It is awesome…
ST: I think it was Doug Vaioleti who said that after the 92 Holiday Bowl Championship season, the players had to return their tattered and “bus up” shoes to the equipment manager . Not exactly what you’d expect as far as the fruits from a championship season, (or something to that effect).
Grapes abound!
Sao-wah an’ skuh-washed….
There were many a-time during the JJ era when if you tossed a glove to the kid in the stands after the game, the next game you’ll be playing with only one glove.
Money doesn’t grow on trees.
Wait. I take that back. Money is paper, and paper comes from trees .
Two reasons why I’m emotionally detached from all of this:
1. Nobody ever quit a football team because of me.
2. I never wrote a single story the past year about a Notre Dame linebacker.
….actually US money is made from denim.
ST… 2013 will be interesting. Lots of changes coming. Any word on who’s the front runner at QB?
I presume its Graham, but Woosley appears to be solid also.
Are you still predicting 29 recruits or is that number going higher since Muir won’t be back?
From an outsiders perspective, it looks like Chow is trying to build a big, physical secondary. If it goes according to plan, a physical secondary will allow UH to jam the box for run support. The d-line gets beefed up with Tua’au, Ekuale, Tulimasealii, and Moala. I like the young LBs we got and if they can add some weight, the defense actually looks good, even with Edwards’ departure.
(the internet is a wunnahful ting)
I like that GEICO commercial with the guy made of money riding the motorcycle.
So, money is made of denim, which is a product of cotton, which grows on shrubs. Is a shrub a tree?
d1:
I think we’re going into the counterfeiting business.
…ask someone who picked cotton?
I resemble that remark! 😉
Former:
I’m predicting 29 because one will grayshirt and three will go on missions.
I think they can award Muir’s scholarship to a guy already in the program.
Before everybody starts re-tracing recruiting lists, there are two who will go on missions but have not yet publicly stated they will commit to UH.
But they will. And they will.
75…why are there only 75 scholarships? Did APR have anything to do with it? I wonder if that contributed to the “mining for scholarships” situation?
Does NC use a big board (chalk, grease, or dry-erase) to track recruiting like previous HC’s?
I think 4.5 schollies for a team of more than 15 is tougher. 😉
@#67, Stephen: Doesn’t the dealer stand @ 17? LOL
ST? We only have 75 scholarships?
….
102…oh sorry……
Kevin – it’s 4.5 schollies for 20 players.
couldnt we have a signing class of around 30-33 if 5 or so count towards the 2012 recruiting class?? and if a few go on missions??
There will be enough scholarships to address needs.
also i think we should try get for tyran finley from contra costa C.C.he tied for 3rd in interceptions with 6, 2nd in pass breakups 23 and leads with 5 blocked kicks. also has a forced fumble and a recovered. I cant find any recent video on this kid but heres his high school reel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHrpAA8FbUI
also runs 4.33 40 Yard Dash / 3.85 Shuttle / 5’9 / 170
Record # of Tsai posts today 🙂
Mr. Tsai . . . you a like a Grease Ben Jay song/versions?
Except when it comes to him hiring a certain Te’o? Hmph.
Turnover is expected, but this one concerning Blake struck me as a surprise.
I notice through all of our oline conversations, no one has ever brought up the subject of Coach Wiesie. Fact is — he is not very popular amongst his olinemen. Rumor has it that Uperressa might move back to coaching the oline. I do emphasize “rumor” at this point.
So far, it seems like Wiesehan has eluded much of the criticism while his boys are made out to be a bunch of busts. hmmmmm.
BIK
Hawkpeter I respect your opinions and your support of Blake. Always have. But I have been around the program for a long time and seen many players come and go. I count Collin Scotts as one of my all time players because we got along so well and became friends. But I have also read your arguments against the strength and training techniques used that resulted in Blake’s loss of weight etc. and believe you may have also given him “advice”. A ton of players lose weight during the course of a season, some more than others, but that’s not the point. A guy given a starting job as a freshman leaves because of what he believes is dishonesty or integrity in his coach is simply weak in my book and I absolutely stand by my own beliefs. Good luck to the young man but opportunities like the one he was given over many other hard working candidates doesn’t come along very often. He was here at a good time for his skill set. The number of legit tackles on the roster gave him a door to playing time and now that there is a challenge it’s the coaches fault. Wasn’t it the same coaches who awarded him the starting position? By the way I have personally witnessed and recorded many testing accomplishments at UH by players that have never smelled the field. Testing results are not the end all when it comes to who can play. Good luck finding playing time in the ACC or Big12 where we can both agree the DE’s will be a step up from what he faced this year. But if he’s as good as you believe everyone will be happy including me. I wish well. He worked his butt off on the field and the classroom while he was here.
with all the talk of of paper, tress, shrubs, cotton I thought d1 and st was talking about dpk…….
😆
There is a new position listing for UH assistant football coach. Is that the OC or a different one?
@#91, Stephen: The world’s largest producer of cotton is China…no wonder they keep the dollar afloat, it’s probably made from Chinese cotton.
Too bad Miur decided to leave. Wished he stuck it out. You know, get past the hump. But anyway, Aloha.
I picked cotton once. ….once! Painful experience. It looked like a bush/shrub to me. I think it is related to the Hibiscus.
Isn’t easier to just buy cotton balls?
FUHA,
From my perspective (past regular poster), you come off as someone who can’t be taken seriously and pretty arrogant. For some reason you keep on comparing past coaches to Chow, past players to those Chow would recruit or have recruited, past schemes to the schemes Chow will implement. Could it be that Chow is a relative? Most people here I think would like nothing best for the program and the athletes, but by comparing so simplistically you are already helping people to form their view of you and by association to Chow.
Here is what we know about Chow. He has had a bad first year. Many on the roster are leaving. Chow is recruiting the kind of players that he thinks would make a difference. This is about it. The larger picture stuff and all the nuances are things we would know if people in the know would share with us. We don’t get that information so that is why it is easier to have not like Chow during the course of the season, and why people are willing to give him a chance again because of the talent he is recruiting. This too sounds simplistic but from what I see that is how people are responding to him in the off season.
Personally, I have nothing against Chow. He is the coach. We should support the coach. Still with your comments I have to take a step back and rethink, why?
#23 & #57,
This has absolutely nothing to do with any position change from LT to LG…..none at all.
@G (China),
I’m still waiting for FUHA to explain how Rolo took the RnS to mediocrity.
Happy Birthday Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
nuha @ FUHA?
#44. Indy going from worst to first is a lot to ask for. Really don’t think many people have the same expectation as you.
With Chow you know what you got. Old School. No gimmicks, no short cuts. Try to outwork, out prepare your opponents. His way is going to take more than two years. Three years minimum but more likely four or five.
It’s been stated ad nauseum that Chow needs “his” type of player to succeed. Two recruiting class are not enough to stock the roster with the type of athletes he needs to succeed. When he was hired Chow may have foolishly thought he had 5 years to accomplish his goal. He didn’t take into account the patience span of many fans.
You guys crying are not seeing all the recruits this staff is putting together. Who cares if he leaves….NEXT
#30,
Like Hawkpeter clarified, Blake leaving was his own decision…..but still unexpected by the OL Coach and the Coach himself.
Some other future departure(s)…..will also probably be unexpected as well.
#46,
Actual live game action film footage from starting and playing in 12 games is now available for potential suitors to evaluate…..whereas there was none at the beginning of last season.
#123,
Coach knows full well that he has 3 years…..not 5 years…..to accomplish his goals.

#124,
Lovin’ the recruiting efforts…..but still not a good thing to lose an underclassemen starter.
JMHO that can’t afford to lose any more of those…..unexpectedly…..especially at OL…..where only 2 new OL recruits thus far.
#80,
Being a close friend of DG turned out to JL’s biggest problem and is why he is no longer a Warrior.
A Grease’d rather have thos past football Warriors season than ND’s season.
At least this past season’s Warriors didn’t hand over a dynasty and National Championship on a silver platter.
And the tide rolled on.
More like a tidal wave.
109. I always thought that name was suspect. Next year his performance should be under observed under a miscroscope.
Came across this blog entry and foudn it interesting, especially since someone brought up the subject of boosters yesterday. It involved the “do’s and don’t” for student-athletes that actively tweet.
Here’s a few that I found interesting:
If you feel like the Twitter guidelines your coaching staff and/or athletic administrators expect you to comply with prevent you from “keeping it real,” then that should probably be your cue to re-evaluate your definition of “keeping it real.” Your team support staff has your long-term best interest in mind.
Your athletic compliance office is monitoring your Twitter account. And the NCAA has acknowledged that it monitors student-athlete activity on Twitter as well. Even if you don’t compete in a major conference or a revenue sport, don’t be fooled into believing nobody is paying attention.
It’s ok to Tweet once about what a great dinner you had at Red Lobster. But multiple mentions of the same business could be considered an endorsement, which is impermissible according to NCAA legislation.
There are more, and if you feel inclined to read on here’s the link.

Looking forward to the MBB game against Pacific?
Here’s some pregame team stats:

Almost forgot to wish Blake Muir the best of luck on his future.
Thanks, that is all.
I just read that Michigan QB Denard Robinson will play WR at the Senior Bowl. I don’t know why, but that kind of rubs me the wrong way. Although he is a great athlete who definitely has a place for him in the NFL at some position, there are other true WR’s from college teams across the country who would love the exposure of the Senior Bowl to showcase their talents heading into NFL pro days.
I don’t know. I guess I have blogitis and am trying to make an issue out of nothing. But how would you like to be a WR and not get invited to the Senior Bowl while a converted QB looking to highlight himself at a different position to make himself more draft worthy did. He has played a bit of WR this year, but not nearly enough to warrant selection to the Senior Bowl at that position.
I know a few college QB’s that were scouted as WR’s. Diondre Borel and Colin Kaepernick. Borel is a receiver last I checked for the Titans.
St, how many FB players have left so far? Is it more than left Gib’s program yet? Always something going on with the coaches when so many different players leave. If you’re tough, players accept that, but if you are harsh, demeaning and abusive…..
People need to temper their enthusiasm and think realistically for the 2013 recruits which is hard to do at this time of year coming off a terrible, terrible year. We want to have hope and we tend to pin our hopes on new recruits. Just bc someone says yes to UH doesn’t mean they are a good player; just bc some rating service says we have a top recruiting class doesn’t mean a thing. Realistically, most recruits will not contribute their first year. What is needed is a jump in improvement from the players that have been part of the program for one year and familiar with the system, etc. We had a very young team so we should have lots of people returning except….that a lot of the underclassmen are leaving. And lot of them are players the coaches liked.
We will have an upgrade at QB bc Sean Schroeder was not the answer and apparently Chow is comparing Graham to Carson Palmer. Really. However, we don’t have all the surrounding pieces like Palmer had at USC.
therein lies the basic problem. Chow’s pro set attack won’t work in Hawaii bc we cannot get the talent to run that type of system that pounds and out physicasl people. It’s like manually pounding nails with a hammer to build a house instead of using a nail gun. For the type of players Hawaii can attract, we need systems that give you a schematical advantage that are difficult to defend, like what Paul Johnson and JJ ran, systems that gave us a chance against teams with superior physical advantage. That’s how we could beat Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue, Washington, Oregon State etc. during JJ’s coaching tenure, teams with physical superiority and better players. I don’t see that happening with Norm Chow.
Sorry, I have no trust in the Chow system.
#136 and 137. Randall Cobb was a QB at Kentucky and was drafted by Green Bay as a wide receiver. Blaine Gaison was QB at UH and was drafted as a safety.
Gimmick offenses like the R&S, Pistol and any other spread type offense have proven to help programs that don’t have the adavantage of bigger schools with bigger budgets, but there are mid-major schools with limited budgets that have made the Pro-Sytle offense work. See San Diego State and Boise State.
139. Two more good examples.
Amen, redzone. And may a Grease add, the Catholic TV channel EWTN is based in ‘bama.
And Coach Saban is Catholic.
And they beat the “designated” Catholic school.
God chose.
#140 and aforementioned offenses are helping teams reach the Super Bowl:

#142. God chose.
According to reliable sources at EWTN, rumor has it the Pope wants to make a pilgrimage to Tuscaloosa to kiss Nick Saban’s ring.
MattyBoy,
Now you know what I meant.
Probably more unexpected still expected.
143. Yep, good article. Here’s another one.
http://www.sbnation.com/longform/2012/12/27/3792740/pistol-offense-nfl-redskins-rg3
Well good, bad or whatever this may be, the end results lie with our new AD. We can speculate, comment and choose sides in the forum debate but any real action, whether needed or not rests with the coach’s new boss.
I spoke with Muir this afternoon.
While he wasn’t happy here, he denied making the “integrity” comment.
He’s a nice guy. He gave me his side. He reiterated that nobody should speak on his behalf.
People on a blog/message board speaking on the behalf of a student-athlete AND being incorrect and inaccurate???
Nah!!!
IMPOSSIBLE!!!!
#148, yes, sometimes the advisors contribute to the problem…… drama queen
How A new Thirty eight Yr old Operating Man (Which has a Younger Family members) Included 46.3 Back yards To His Hard disks In only 56 Days With no PracticeAnd How You Can Take action Too
once again…”the truth”, that is stephen tsai as i had long ago named him, will retell the rest of the story.
yup, kazz, too often people make a mountain out of a mole hill.
exaggerating from the truth is an aged old problem that is a means to have focus the limelight upon themselves. poor things these as the group “america” long ago sang, “look at all the lonely people…”
#149, the problem is that the person that spoke for Blake has his own issues with this coaching staff/UH…
Wait what the hell?
So let me get this straight.. people with their own issues for whatever reason can come on a blog and create a false sense of “truth” to heighten their own agendas and biases?
This happens on an online blog and internet message boards?
But then.. while not posting under a real name, they expect people to read it and call it the God’s honest truth?
No… IMPOSSIBLE!!!
Mountain of out a molehill…
Let’s change that into:
Making like one musubi is one bento.
OR
Don’t tell me ume is one daikon, cause ume is not yellow.
#155, the sad thing is that this person was not thinking about Blake while speaking for him …. kind of shows what kind of person he is …
#155, the sad thing is that this person was not thinking about Blake while speaking for him …. kind of shows what kind of person he is …
Good thing integrity is not in my vocabulary.
D1, Re your #157 from yesterday re the Teo situation:
Nah, you don’t owe me an apology for anything. I’m actually sorry that my opinion seems to have been accurate, but there was just too much out there that didn’t fit the image that the Teo clan was trying to project. And this applies to BOTH father and son in my opinion. Again, I’d really rather have been wrong.
So, what kind of lesson can we draw from this? It’s the easiest thing in the world to be a nice guy when you’re winning. Everybody loves you, so just let them. But true character is revealed only through adversity. Unfortunately, the Teos started to believe their own hype. When their image came crashing down, they lashed out. Nor was this the first time they had responded in such a manner. But at least that will put an end to the “hire coach Teo” chatter.
Re Blake Muir:
Can someone please clarify whether the integrity comment was made by someone on this board? From what I see, that comment was made by someone on the Sutherland Seahawaks page, which was linked earlier, not here.
If so, then you guys ranting about posters on this board are actually the ones who are inaccurate and creating an issue where none exists. Am I wrong?
Saw Jay on the news and he was talking about Branding. Maybe our new logo should be a revolving door with all the people coming and going.
WarriorMojo makes a really good point about how to act when faced with adversity.
lets just say the person that spoke for him today seems to like doing that not only on this blog
Hear, hear, agree w/redzone w/regard to WarriorMojo; a Grease seconds the motion.
Re the analogies between Wie and Teo:
In a word, LAME. As I understand it, Mr. Wie is being vilified because he supposedly forced Michelle into chasing the men’s game, thereby forcing her to alter her swing, etc. Is that it? Is that his crime?
Michelle never lived up her promise, but I don’t see the Wies blaming anyone else for that. Did they call for a boycott of any media? Haven’t heard of it if they did. Seems like they just took their lumps in silence. That’s the exact OPPOSITE of the Teo situation.
WarriorMojo
It was discussed here a while back. follow link;
http://www.sportshawaii.com/sh/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=43490&start=15
redzone: Thanks.
Thank you, Blake, for being a Warrior . . . take care and aloha. We’ll be hearing more from that guy, folks, don’t you worry! 🙂
There’s a Muir Island in the X-Men comics. The island’s known for its research toward understanding mutantkind . . . uh, in Marvel Comicsdom, of course.
Preach on, WarriorMojo, so true. Another diff’ is, didn’t Te’o decide on ND so that his folks could watch games on free TV? With the Wies, they’s loaded a’eady, and didn’t have to decide on her future plans w/such amenity as the former fellow Punahou graduate. (now THERE’S something they have in common[!])
B.T.’s gonna need SA more than they going need him, said before.
Wie all know that. 😛 (oh, Wie-isms staht ahp agains, cheeeee . . . oh.)
. . .
Muir was one of my favorite players. I will miss him. My best to him.
Yeah, I liked Muir too. Really wanted to see him lined up next to Ben Dew. With Clarke at C, UH would have had its own ANZUS line.
Stanford’s AD is also Muir.
Re: Brian Te’o
He’s a father. He loves his son. He got emotional.
I’m sure he regrets being hot-headed.
But the main lesson, the important thing to draw from all of this is …
Hey, he’s not mad at me.
That’s today’s theme.
Just to clarify, as it seems to be important to people, I posted the message that Blake wanted put out there for the fans @ #70. If anyone cares to read the online diary that I keep for his friends locally they can. I get my information for it from Blake and he read the latest post before it was posted and edits any post where necessary.
You will see by reading it, that I used the word ‘integrity’ to describe his original choice of school (UH), and what he is looking for in his next school.
Stephen, did Blake give you the impression that he does not stand by what is written on the diary page that I keep for him? If you did get that impression, then I suggest you call Blake back and not leave any conflation.
161… Sutherland Seahawks and Hawkpeter… the same person?
#172,
Definitely over-reacted…..but JMHO wasn’t necessary to use that photo…..along with that caption……among all the available choices.
Just poor choices…..by all parties involved.
I guess I’m a little slow on the draw.
#72…
That’s the kind of guy Chow could possibly pick up. Kiffen and Chow were at USC together as assistants and I’m sure they still communicate on occasion. Chow hopefully is speaking with Kiffen on which guys may not qualify for USC or Kiffen is passing on.
USC leftovers are still high quality players. I’m sure Fitts will want to sign with another PAC 12 team so he can rub it in when they beat USC.
Re #175
Respectfully, disagree. Pre-game analysis all focused on the matchup between Bama’s Oline and the vaunted ND defense, led by Te’o. Well, ‘Bama stomped all over ND’s defense.
It may hurt, but that picture is symbolic of the flow of the entire game. That’s good journalism.
#178,
It’s still a matter of choice.
While maybe good journalism, pretty sure there was another photo that might have been just as symbolic.
Either way……still can’t blame a proud parent for over-reacting though.
is abe transferring home?
#175. Life is reality. Have to take the good with the bad. the picture run by the Advertiser was entirely appropriate and real. Unfortunately, his parents bought into too much of the hype thinking his son could do no wrong and should not be criticized and of course were really disappointed with Manti’s and ND’s performance in the Bowl game. I told people from the beginnning of the season that there was so much hype on Manti that he would never be able to live up to his hype. He almost did except for one bad game. His greatest impact during the season was not on the tackes he made ( he also missed quite a few by taking wrong angles), but by inspiring his teammates to play to a higher level. He made everyone on the team, including the offense, play better. Can you imagine what Everett Golson said about Teo: that Teo was also the leader of the offense! think about that for a while. He lifted up the entire school and the program. I went up to see a ND game this year and it is unbelievable how much the fans love Manti (and Robbie). Manti is now a legend in ND’s storied tradition as being the catalyst for resurrecting the football program after a 25 year drought (SMU’s drought was 25 years also before JJ went there). You will not understand the tradition at ND and the impact Manti has made until you visit the campus. Unbelievable..for a boy from Laie. The one bad game will be a distant memory but his legend will live on at ND.
#165,
Not necessarily an appropriate analogy…..’cuz the Wies decided not to conduct any interviews with any local media (TV & newspapers) from the very beginning of Michelle’s pro career….as if the local media does not exist.
Therefore the silent treatment with the local media.
The Wies spoke with Ann Miller.
Hahaahahahhhohohhoho, Mr. Stephen Tsai, yes, yes, yes, a Grease understands that as an angle of lige as well — “better you than me.” 😛
A Grease, somehow agrees . . . today’s theme.
The heck the Wies eating at Anna Miller’s, they should be going to, like, Roy’s or Ruth’s Chris or Alan Wo . . . oh, heh. [a Grease stumbles . . . ]
Chicken Grease:
I see a theme here.
Father is mad at a newspaper, so nobody should subscribe to the newspaper. (I’m not exactly sure if father subscribed, either.)
Players get mad that teammate doesn’t play, so nobody should play for the Warriors.
And nobody has to say anything because there are people willing to speak for sons, players and the local media.
This past season, there was a person speaking on behalf of a player.
So, one day, I asked the player why he was entrusting this person to speak on his behalf.
The player said: “What!?!”
Great points, generally, jiminy, but, I dunno ’bout that last one. ND football ain’t what it was before, and the National Championship game showed that.
Telling you — the alumni ain’t too happy w/Kelly right now. Can sm-leh-leh-leh-leh-leh-leh-mell it. This was the one that would have legenderized [???] him.Crowds at South Bend remind a Grease of those N. Korean obligatory stadium (that’s a 2nd “North Korean” reference a Grease hath made on this day of our Lord) gatherings.
A Grease don’t believe they’re gonna be good at all next season. Really don’t.
Glad Ravens are doing well; means they’re that much out of a Te’o’s reach. (please, please GOD choose against this, too. Ahem) Great shoes to fill of a Ray Lewis anyway.

This is like Philosophy 110 (Philosophy and Logic). Syllogisms ( 😛 ), proofs and all.
True, Mr. Tsai.
You should seriously post amongst us more often.
We feel safe when you are here.
😀
a
I beg your pardon sir but #187 is non-answer rhetoric.
You need to retract your post at #148. You are trying to make out that the statements published online are not supported by the player you questioned.
#183,
Probably the only exception.
ST,
NOT cool to keep spinning it…..with comments #148, #186 & #187.
Shoulda left it alone…..’cuz don’t think that the genie can be put back in the bottle otherwise IF it gets spun any further. Pretty sure that Coach wouldn’t like that either.
While Brian Te’o might not be mad with you (re: #172), hearing that Blake now sure is…..which violates your own theme for today.
Anybody know if David Maka committed to Hawaii? I’m reading on the other forums that that’s what it seems to be. Any truth to that?
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-David-Maka-134451
OL Coach not at fault…..nor the former OC.
So… yea if they guy isnt going to be a warrior let us never say his name again.
I mean honestly…the best on the worst O-Line in America is still crud.
We need lots of O-Line recruits because ours is poor at best. No loss. Now we can give the chance to a better player.
#194,
Last I read, Maka was deciding between Kentucky, UCLA and Utah.
http://www.ocvarsity.com/sports/san-35431-sacramento-margarita6.html
197,
That’s what I thought! But check this out:
http://polynesianallamerican.com/roster
You think it could be a mistake?
It says he committed. Or do you think they meant David Manoa, the current UH commit.
200
Don’t know about Maka. Heard that he was a Kentucky lean.
Also noticed DE Pita Taumoepenu (Timpview HS, Provo, Utah) being listed as a verbal commit to UH. Pita supposedly going on mission first before playing ball.

#195,
Starts at the top…..BUT we all know that it doesn’t work like that.
Consequences are…..that dominos likely to fall…..downhill…..NOT uphill.
meanwhile back at the farm…last weekend we had 7-8 visits.
of them we actually got three solid verbal commitments;
aaron “z-man” zwhalen, qb (possible hg)
barry “the dream” higdon, cb
diocemy ” juice” saint juste, rb
i thought we’d hear from two more…tick tock
It just seems to me that all of this “he said, she said” and speculation as to why the kid left could be cleared up by someone actually saying why he left. It is kinda irritating when there are multiple people claiming to know why and will post little snip-its here and there saying “oh, well I know it wasn’t this . . . or that, or because of this person or that person.” If I were the player, I would just want people to know the deal. What could be so private or secretive about the whole thing?
When I was 19 I dropped out of college because I wanted to party. No conspiracy, no secrets.
When I was 23, I quit my job because I didn’t like working the graveyard shift, so found a better paying job elsewhere during the day. No conspiracy or secrets.
Then again, I am an anonymous no one hiding behind a computer screen. All of the secrecy is just lame.
nice read about “the dream” from deep south recruiting….
– 2013 CB Barry Higdon (6’3, 185, 4.4/40) of Chaminade Madonna has verbally committed to Hawaii. Higdon visited Honolulu last weekend and that put the Warriors over the top. “It’s paradise. I love the atmosphere and the location. The people are awesome, the coaching staff is great, and the fact that they were on me throughout the process told me they really wanted me to be a Warrior. Head coach Norm Chow is a great coach and I can’t wait to play for him. We spoke a lot during my visit, and I think Hawaii is the best place for me to be.”
Higdon talked about his chances of playing early. “Coach Chow said if I come in, work hard, there’s a good chance I’ll play right away. He told me come in with the mindset to work hard, learn the system quickly.”
One of his goals as a freshman at Hawaii is to step on the field early. “I want to contribute right away, and I eventually want to bring Hawaii their first Jim Thorpe Award.”
Al,
You think we have a shot at those other two recruits?
#204,
Be careful what you ask for.
BUT also don’t want to be accused of speaking for others…..who can speak for themselves.
ST also already knows…..but also knows that genie can’t be put back in the bottle once unleashed.
Coach definitely wouldn’t like it either.
MattyBoy,
BTW, read #145? Now you know.
JMHO that CB Kalan Montgomery would be good get…..’cuz it would continue the recruiting pipeline with Dominguez HS (Compton, CA.)…..who have a couple of Class of 2014 DL prospects to recruit for next year.

After 2100, so here’s a portion of a message I found while cleaning out my old email…. 😐
====================
A friend of mine bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his
old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying:
“Free to good home. You want it, you take it.”
For three days the fridge sat there without even one person looking twice at it.
My friend decided that people were too wary of this deal.
It looked too good to be true
He changed the sign to read: “Fridge for sale – $50.”
The next day someone stole it.
====================
I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center.
One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours
the call center was available.
I told him, “The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day,
7 days a week.”
He responded, “Is that Eastern or Pacific time?”
Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, “Uh…Pacific.”
====================
I couldn’t find my luggage at the airport baggage area, so I went to
the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never
showed up.
She smiled and told me not to worry because she was
a trained professional and I was in good hands.
“Now,” she asked me, “has your plane arrived yet?”
I miss da buggah, too, SteveM. 🙁
matty boy…still got chance, however, time is tight with each passing day. there is only so much room for jello.
for example, if montgomery commits that means thats one less spot for a db.
we’ve already reloaded at wr’s and we’d grab an exceptional talent for sure regardless. but how many wr’s do we realistically take in?
therefore, thomas, battle , and kirkwood need to belly up to the bar very soon before its last call.
Night, gang!
Good luck to Blake Muir.
#177
USC won 2 national championships with NC as the OC, they haven’t won without NC.
kiffen was the co-offensive coordinator (run game) with NC (pass game) at USC which lead to NC looking for another job. i doubt NC has any kind of relationship with kiffen or PC.
208,
I Understand now
steem…that first one would. be palolo.
matty boy…at the same time, maybe all the visitors weren’t offered.
the official visit is designed to be an up close and personal evaluation by both prospective student/athlete and coaching staff. therefore, sometimes a potential offer never becomes a reality.
congratulations to jerome williams on signing a one year deal with the angels for $2.0 mil..
stevem, d1…that night shift had its own staff.
Would still be quite disappointing if that last huge local catch slips though UH’s grasp…..and into those of the mainland competitor. Hopefully coaches focus on landing this last huge local catch over this coming weekend or so…..even more so than the past visitors.
While would also be nice to land that San Diego catch at the beginning of next month, there’s also more suitors still competing to land that one.
I recall the night shift started with Al, las vegas (rasu begasu), Long Time UH Fan, and shy me. When WarriorMojo dropped in, he brought music 🙂 Expanded fast!
You are very open and revealing, kev-1, thank you for sharing your sometimes knock around life w/us. Thanks to the rest of you as well.
Man. Had some slowdown w/the computer connection this evening. WAs it due to that . . . PERSON (the term a Grease WANTS to use would definitely have, at the very least, an email from Tsai to a Grease). . . who started that fire around Nimitz area? AFfecting the fiber optics, etc ensconced o’there?
ONE . . . PERSON . . . affecting everyone else. A Grease can’t tell ya’ enough what should happen to this . . . PERSON. (early reports say — well, suppose a Grease can make an exception and quote Lennon — “instant karma” got this . . . PERSON.)
#173, maybe it is time you just shut it down and move on to the next school and not cause anymore issues for Blake in Hawaii …. I don’t see how this is helping him, think about what you are doing to the kid and how that could impact peoples impression of him. If he wants to air the problems/issues he had with Hawaii let him do it on his terms, people are wishing him well, time for you to move on. This is not about you and you opinion about Hawaii……
Oh. A Grease don’tt normally quote song lyrics at night . . . but, you late-night . . . err, late shift Tsaikos and Tsaikettes (are ther ANY late shift Tsaikettes?) Deserve it. Here goes . . . you’ll know THIS contemporary classic:
Gonna be some sweet sounds
Comin’ down
On the Night Shift
Gonna be all right
Gonna be all night
On the Night Shift
– The Commodores
@224 that was a sweet song… I can hear it now.
#191, wow talk about throwing Blake under the bus ….. lol, I guess Blake’s spokes person is saying Blake lied to ST…. again, think about how your immature actions could impact Blake before you respond, sometime saying less is the right thing to do. Also, does Blake want you to speak for him? sharing an opinion does not mean he gave you his approval to be his spokes person …..
Great, great that you picked up on that, too, DoubleB. Post-Richie Commodores needed to mint out their own identity and Night Shift really did the trick. Post-Richie Commodores enriched their presence with this song — you can see the night watchmen hanging out in their guard shack with the transistor on, reminiscing, exchanges anecdotes on their respective lives, having some laughs (while some thief robs the place they’re supposed to be guarding, heh, joking). Then it develops and you see all the late nighters taking a break from their nocturne duties, whatever they may be, to listen . . . to the Night Shift.
Heh, Grease better stop else he sound like 107.9 J, Lord a-mercy. Right on, DoubleB.
I was happy to leave it back at #70. I am calling out the blog host for making a misleading post. Saying less was exactly the plan but the blog host did not leave it at that.
Now fools are chiming in on things they know nothing about.
Thank you for the good writeup. It if truth be told was once a entertainment account it. Look advanced to far introduced agreeable from you! By the way, how can we keep up a correspondence?
“kind of shows what kind of person he is .”
I think, that you are mistaken. I can defend the position. Write to me in PM, we will communicate.
A Grease — and many others here — trust the blog host; especially in matters regarding UH football.
A Grease, at least — would surmise the others, too — make no apologies for supporting the blog host in this way. So, um, deal with it.
# # #
HawkPeter,
I don’t think ST mislead anyone. His article today goes into more depth. Perhaps you should check with Blake and see if ST’s article is inaccurate or misleading. And if Blake has a problem with it, perhaps he should speak up for himself…
A Grease,
Morning Sir. Does A Grease ever sleep?
Good Morning Folks!
Best Wishes to Blake Muir!
It’s always interesting reading here!
Early AM Greetings to the ever present Mr Grease! Also, to WarriorNY–hope all is well with you!
233- so what do you think could have been “weighing down” this young man (as quoted in the article? Enough to make him give up a full ride in Paradise?
Morning Mo! I hope you’re well…
wasabi,
ST says pretty clearly in his article that Blake was unhappy. I don’t know why and not gonna pretend I do. I live 5k miles away. HawkPeter probably knows more than most of us. I just thought he was a little unfair in “calling out the blog host.”
[a Grease awakes.] uhhh, huh, ahhhhhhh!!!!! WARRIORNY!?!?! GOOD MORNING!!!!! Good morning to mo808 and good morning wasabi!!!! 🙂
#231,
It’s understood that there are those who rely on the host for all your information…..and therefore will follow and believe regardless. That’s why you’re followers.
BUT for some of us Warrior supporters…..who don’t rely on the host for all our info…..and aren’t necessarily full-fledged followers…..we also know and understand that the host can only get info to share with the followers…..if he continues to play nice with the Coach…..to make up for that not-so-great first impression at the 2011 Sun Bowl.
It’s cold…but, I need to get up and out already — thank God it’s not raining as I am walking to work.
Hi ho!
It is 58′ on Oahu.
For Hawaii people, that’s cold!!!!!
Be careful on your way, mo808!!!!!
Great Morning All!
Is it Grand “Slam” The Host Day?
*smh*
#236 & #237,
As has been posted in the past…..but been largely dismissed by the followers as repeated rants, the reality is…..that the “old school” coaching methods and approach applied…..hasn’t worked for those players now departing….and those who are still considering departing.
Like any typical job setting where the worker and boss are not in-tune with each other, the worker sometimes has to make the tough decision to leave a good job because of being uhappy in that work environment…..since the worker is always tasked with adapting to the boss…..not the other way around.
While some might say that these players should have departed earlier, those now departing tried to adapt to the “old school” coaching methods and approach over the past year….’cuz they wanted to remain Warriors….but alas came to their own personal conclusions that they could not……and/or were not happy doing so.
Therefore these departures make sense for those players…..regardless if they were a starter…..as their own personal decisions…..since coaching methods and approach…..primarily on offense…..very unlikely to change. Nothing to do with offensive schemes or Xs & Os or even coaching techniques.
Some may have waited too long and will continue to be unhappy. Those remaining players will have to come to their own personal choices of whether to continue to play or not at all.
While some departures were somewhat expected……others not so much. Either way, gotta respect a player’s personal decision to do what they feel is best for themselves.
Um. A Grease ne’er say he got UH athletics sports information only from a Tsai.
Compared to a Tsai, though, you and yours might be getting misleading information from time-to-time. They’ll play on you like that, knowing you are enamored w/the whole, “oh, [insert UH athletics sports luminary here] looked my way!” It is almost like some of my friends, when a week after visiting the bar, the “bar girl” will call them and they will go, “she called me, she called me!” when, yes, she called you . . . and about another 50 guys from a list in front of her at a coffee table, she in all her (oh, Lord. You’ll all have to pardon this pun) kapakahi clothes, no make up, lukewarm coffee.
Heh, we are all followers . . . follow the Lord. 🙂
#244,
We are all supporters….but not followers.
Chip Kelly leaves Oregon for the eagles head coaching job… Wow
#246,
Might as well leave now…..’cuz Kelly’s marketability unlikely to improve…..and the Eagles’ job was his primary target.
Lawyers have a saying: if you don’t have the facts, dazzle them with bulls**t
ST believes “just the facts Mam!” (Does anyone remember Joe Friday?)
Good morning, gangees!
It’s just a matter of choice.
Choose to believe whatever you wanna believe.
Jiao sun, tommui!
Yes, I remember B/W TV & Joe Friday. My Uncle Tommy recently passed away & he was the owner of 50th State TV in Waimalu. He provided the first TV to our family, 195x, loooong time ago.
Blog host Tsai serves a more important function overall; an example especially presents itself in this case. As a member of the free press, he — and others of his profession — serve as a friendly reminder if not an all-out watchdog to ensure that those esoteric resources (to which are seeminglyu being referred to at this time) maintain . . . well . . . not as much esotericism as we’ve seen exemplified by the Nazis, Stalin . . The current and past Kims of North Korea.
The doors behind closed doors are never really “sound proof” or “sound resistant.” A free press is a check and balance . . . whether those keeping information know it, appreciate it or love it or not. 😉
@246,
Wow, damn. Now the Giants are going to have to play against the read option even more… :-/
Oregon still on track with replacing Kelly with OC Mark Helfrich. Thats good news for Donkey fans.
Kaepernick runs like an ostrich (with tatoos). Thats what makes him fast, BC.
