The Warriors are scheduled to open spring practice Monday, March 30.
They will spread their allotted 15 practices over four consecutive weeks. Spring training will begin after the end of spring break (March 23-27).

I ran into former UH linebacker MIcah Lau, who said he will serve as a student manager this semester. He is on track to earn his bachelor’s degree in May.
Micah Lau
The student manager program serves as a work study. Because the player already will receive the equivalent of a full scholarship, it allows for the player to give back to the program. What’s more, it provides experience for a player interested in coaching.
Brad Kalilimoku and Jake Patek served as student managers during the fall semester. They earned their degrees in December.

Chris Williamson, a punter from Georgia, has expressed an interest in joining the Warriors.

Josh Leonard just called — by accident. I guess it’s the opposite of a dropped call. Anyway, he’s training in Arizona under Chad Ikei’s direction.
He has heard from about 20 teams.
Leonard said he weighs 290 with 20 percent body fat. He said the goal is to add 10 pounds but drop his body fat to 15 percent or lower.

Happy birthday to two of our blog’s most respected — Pops (Kekoa’s dad) and Calvin From Kona.
first!
cheepono
Top 5?
according to scout… chris williamson is 6’3″ 195. as a junior he only averaged 38.5 yards though… ><
Good Morning! Hope everyone has a great day!
TOP TEN
Whoa…top 10…cheeee huuuuuu
Is Lucas Ingram in school?
Hey, that’s the googled punter!
actually, in 2008 he had 14 punts and averaged 44.7 yards with a long of 57 and 8 punts inside the 20.
Mark your calendars for opening day at the Legislature. We can all follow (J)J and grind.
Or you can check out his Web site for his stats.
homey…more low key this year but still have grinds available….everyone can come down…don’t need to see me….opening day is the next Wednesday….
Hey, (J)J is a great host. We should follow him around.
Oh yeah…and good morning Tsaikos…
(J)J – What? You are the one in the know so we’ll be following you around. I hope Kekoa can keep up. Yep I have my calendar filled up with the Legislative timetable…now why would I do that???
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pops and CFK!!! Is that like 90 candles for Pops and 44 for CFK?
Good morning Tsai-kos!!
ST – how come they decided not to have Spring Ball over Spring Break?
oh yeah. Happy Birthday to Pops and CFK!! It was a pleasure meeting both of you at the t-gate.
Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Happy Birthday Pops!
Happy Birthday Calvin from Kona/Hon! (kinda like a Rob25/14 thing)
Hope I can go to some spring practices.
Chris Williamson is a good one. What more could he ask for, being in Hawaii, being a Warrior, being the starting punter, being a Warrior…
A-Sports – and maybe after practice some Pho????????????
Someone needs to modify the bowzooka or the JUGS to shoot volleyballs.
wow… korey reynolds just signed with BC. good luck to him.
asi hosea signs with washington state.
Happy B-Day to pops and C from K…or is it H now???
It’s good to know that C from K is also respected….MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA j/k
Jm98094278099302:
Players want to be young, which means Mainland ones go home. Plus, I think they close the dorms during that time. Mack didn’t want to practice for two weeks, have a break, then practice again.
By the way, I think the spring game will be during the day. They were considering having it at Cooke/Ching but now it looks like it’ll be back at Aloha Stadium.
British Columbia?
Butte College?
Barbizon College?
Hey, is there still a Barbizon in Hawai‘i?
Hauoli Lahanau POPS and CALVIN!!!
BTW- Anyone want to sit with me at the ProBowl? I have a chance to get another sunny lower sideline ticket for $92. Need to know asap. lizkauai at gmail.com
Welcome Chris Williamson – from merv country!
GO (Spring Practice) WARRIORS!
…and congrats to Micah Lau.
ST sneaks in and posts pix of the birthday boys….
boston college
😛
ST…don’t lie…you went to Barbizon…I saw some of your Roosevelt pictures….with the feathered hair and puka shell necklace…MWAHAHAHAHAHA
Barbizon? Isn’t that like a modeling agency?
Well, that’s good for Korey. He’s a good guy. I was hoping he’d stay here.
Happy Birthday to Pops and CfK
CFK looks like an inmate.
I think Barbizon’s slogan is: We have model students.
Geee, Pops looks so handsome, unlike his son…. Just teasing, Kekoa!! 😀
I’ve got a profile shot of CFK, too.
Uh oh.
jm just did the nah-nah routine.
Insult somebody, then erase it by saying, nah-nah.
Remember when Andy Bumatai used to joke about that?
In our biz, we’ve got our own form of nah-nah. It’s called: off the record.
…and we’ve seen video of CFK on a beach with a bathing beauty…come to think of it, I like the YMCA video at Genji’s.
Happy Birthday to Pops and Calvin from Kona.
Actually, Pops’ birthday was yesterday, as Midori7 reminded me over and over. But then I forgot to post it.
Spring practices, I’ll be there when they go to full pads. See you there Loa, Pride., Stretch, myki, sj-macro, Nalani, ST, Princess Leila, and any other that shows up.
“In our biz, we’ve got our own form of nah-nah. It’s called: off the record.”
BWAHAHAHAHA!
m-homey- to “some of us” CfK IS the bathing beauty in that video!
Props to koakane for starting a new semester and keeping our keiki level headed. Now he can go back to taking naps during the day.
MLiz – for the record, I’m not one of the “some of us”.
Coach Tomey is now President of the AFCA.
guess da bj/gsp hype can unofficially start w/ 2nite’s special on spike…pretty exciting next couple weeks
4 days til championship weekend
17 til bj/gsp II
18 til SB sunday
21 til LOI day
and littered in between, our senior boyz in their respective all star games, and hopefully more positive news leaks from ST on da recruiting front
The Washington Post’s Redskins Insider says that Colt won’t be ready to be a *backup* QB until 2010!
Nui La Hanau wishes go out to Pops and CFK!
Good to be born in January.
The way that ST worded his entry above, I’m not sure if Chris Williamson is definitely joining…but from what was said yesterday I’m guessing that he’ll be the punter for the Warriors.
55th! YES!! *L*
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POPS!!!
SAME TO YOU, CALVIN!!!
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
NMSU is in a difficult situation at QB, with their projected starter leaving during dead week with only a few weeks left of recruiting. None of their other QBs has taken a snap in a D-IA game, and they were recruited for a different offensive system.
owen-16 – can’t wait for the bjp vs gsp II. gonna be a good one. this time bjp will be in shape! that’s the beauty of mma, on any given day, make a mistake and you pay for it.
NMSU also lost a WR.
Dats not Calvin, dat’s his faddah, look like.. His evil twin maybe. Calvin is much prettier that that.
Happy Birthday to Pops and Calvin from Kona!
Garret:
Williamson is expected to join.
But he’ll be joining as a walk-on, so in the words of Run DMC: It’s tricky, tricky, tricky.
I’m looking forward to that fight too. I tink BJ going crush. What you guys tink?
Sounds like DPK is an inmate …
also sounds like DPK is one of MLiz’s “some of us”.
ST,
Thank you for the clarification. I wasn’t sure how to interpret your wording, as it is different than when you announce a scholarship commitment.
I’m secure enough in my masculinity to say that, Tsai. 😉
DPK – i’d like bjp to crush gsp but sometimes you get hit with a lucky one or make a tactical mistake and it’s all over. focus.
Good morning everyone!
… a belated Happy Birthday Pops !!!
Happy Birthday Calvin !!!
I see Esme, Nalani, jojo, and Kelli still have not signed up for the KK.
BJ has looked terrific lately. But you’re right, one wrong move and it’s over. Isn’t GSP naturally bigger than BJ? Not that it matters…
Best wishes to Micah Lau, and a shout out to his Dad, Mike.
DPK – maybe an inch or two taller in height and yep bjp is moving up in weight class (even though he did previously fight at that weight).
GSP did take the more severe beating last time even though he came out victorious. BJ looks like he fights better at 155 rather than the 170, so i’m hoping he takes out GSP in the 1st 3 rounds. nothing more chicken skin than seeing BJ coming out to Bruddah Iz, well maybe Hawaii Ponoi at NOLA 🙂
while looking for a punter MAC should also look for a REAL ST coach…c’mon.
Pound for pound, BJ is da man!!!
Morning/afternoon, Tsaiko-Nation and Tsai-Meister.
Wow, a walk on punter from 4,000 + miles away. He must be an adventurous young man. Seems to me that he won’t easily be intimidated and must really like to be a Warrior.
ST, any word of what made him want to come here without a scholarship?
Happy Birthday to Pops and Calvin.
owen-16 – i think the key is that this time around bj is in terrific shape. he’s not going to run out of gas like the last time. ahhh, IZ – Hawaii ’78
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cAbHGZ6F8M
Happy birthday Pops and Calvin….
oh he’s definitely in better shape this time around. he’s taking his training and place in the UFC like a PRODIGY should. “word on da street” (sorry ST for borrowing your thunda) was he was a frequent visitor to da bars in Hilo even while training…but not anymore.
ST….going old school I see….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C2b8XWJnfE
You gotta sign up for the KK?
Happy Birthday to Pops and Calvin from Kona.
Nalani – we just do it to keep SteveM busy. But no need, just show up with whoever!!! practice time for me la la la mi mi mi.
Nalani – BTW, I looked at your website and you don’t have anything scheduled that night. 😆
I also can’t wait for the BJ-GSP fight. I’m glad the Rich Franklin-Dan Henderson fight is this weekend to hold me over
Happy Birthday Pops and Calvin from kona. This is your day!!
Good morning Tsaikos & Tsaikettes, Lurkers & Lurkettes!
Just popping in to wish Pops and CalvinfromKona a very happy birthday and sing a little birthday song too —
“Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear CalvinfromKona & Kekoa’s Dad, Pops,
Happy Happiest of Happy Birthdays to you! ”
🙂
———-
Been awhile since I was last here. It’s really nice to post again!
Merry belated Christmas & Happy New Year! Darn about the Hawaii Bowl game but there’s always next season! Hope everyone’s New Year is going well!
Hugs & Kisses! 😳 — ahem — I mean — Here’s a firm slap on the shoulder! lol
😉
homey — I concur.

Hi UHFAN808!
Great to have you back!
Did ST really quote Run DMC. Dang. Beastie Boys on deck.
Somehow I can hear UHfan808 rapping that Happy Birthday song.
SteveM – you concur about my singing practice?
djmitcho – I’m surprised that Rashad Evans is the light heavyweight champion!
Homey…at the KK we should get UHFan808 to do Tricky…see post #82….
Hi UHFan808…long time no see…
Hi jojo…
DPK – UHfan808 is only a text message away. She has very fast fingers.
Let’s hope Williamson is the Real Deal. That would be one less thing for the team to worry about. Hey Tsai-meister, in your opinion, do you think that the O-line will be more stable (provide adequate protection for our QBs) and is Kainoa LaCount good enough to be a starter??
(J)J – Then she can do Funky Cold Medina AND It’s Tricky!
homey,
I was more disappointed than surprised. Rashad has got some power in those hands. From what I understand, Forrest will probably not fight at all this year. He broke his hand and had to have pins inserted.
Happy Birthday CFK(or werever)!
Belated Happy Birthday to Pops!
Wish I could sing you a song….
sounds like a good pick-up @ punter
GETTING HUNGRY….hmmmm….
homey — you don’t need singing practice. You are the surprise vocal sensation of 2008… same genre and prideperiod and LizKauai!
Remember that I am your agent… 😉
Happy birfday to Pops and Calvin from Kona – may this day bring you joy and many more to come!!
Merv:
Don’t be jealous if this Gerogia boy wants to be a Warrior – Nothin finer than to be a Warrior!!
Go ask your Coach if he wants to schedule UH at Aloha Stadium – we would welcome the opportunity to play you again.
protector – imo, anyone that steps on the practice field can be a starter. As far as being more stable, of course. If not then someone, be it the coaches or players, has not learned from past experience and did not put in the hard work and effort to better themselves. Simple.
SteveM – bwahahahaha! I have Rock Band 2 at home and even the virtual audience booed me when I tried to sing Eye of the Tiger, so now I just stick to the drums or the guitar.
ST:
Good neighbor, we are minus 8 days and counting till we get “blown away or over”.
I getta feeling about this —-hehehe!
I hope a lot of our future warriors are like Nielson, who focused on his school work, because UH is not an easy school to get admitted to and the university and the departments do not readily accept transfer credits….if the athlete picks a department that is athlete friendly or known to accept all comers like the sociology curriculum, right JaM, the athlete has a good chance of getting in. You ever notice the number of athletes in colleges majoring in sociology, general studies and general business and surprisingly PE is not high on the list
Homey…u going to the KK??? I thought they said “No Guns Allowed” and with your pythons, I think you’d be banned…MWAHAHAHHAHA
Happy birthday Pops and Calvin!
UHfan808! I, er, we missed you!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to “Pops” and Calvin from Kona…two very fine gentlemen who are very dear to me.
I was hoping spring game would be at Cooke/Ching field but then again
Aloha stadium will do just fine.Just cant untill the warriors put that green and white jersey again.
GO WARRIORS!!
Is this right: if a player signed a letter of intent in 2008, but was denied admission into the school then that player has to again sign a 2009 letter of intent. That being the case, then doesn’t the player have the option to go wherever he wants to go in 2009. If classes started a few days ago, and player(s) that were suppose to be at manoa aren’t wouldn’t this be an ominious message?
Happy Birthday CfK!
Happy Birthday Pops!
Maybe the 2010 Spring game could be held at Cooke/Ching Field? Who knows?
Re #52: Rotoworld says:
“Redskins beat writer Jason LaCanfora believes a realistic time table for Colt Brennan is that he’ll be ready to be a backup by 2010.
LaCanfora is one of the best beats in the business, so his opinion is worth noting. Still, we liked what we saw from Brennan last preseason and suspect that he’s closer to being ready than the rest of the mid-to-late rounders from the 2008 rookie class. Jan. 14 – 1:25 pm et “
Hope that Williams guy is not just looking for a free vacation trip to Hawaii for himself and his parent(s) just like that guy who went to Miami after his trip to Hawaii with his mother, and now isn’t on the team either..what’s that called, bachi???
Third quarterback Colt Brennan remains one of the most popular dudes in town, it seems. Some fans called for the extremely raw youngster to play, starting about, oh, July 21. Should that wish be granted in 2009, then close up shop, because I don’t think it would be pretty.
A realistic goal is that by 2010 Brennan is ready to be a back-up. He did essentially nothing besides take some snaps with the scout team, and it’s unlikely he will get much work once training camp is over. He’ll get more playing time in preseason and, if he throws a few TDs against some CFL and UPS guys, well, I’m sure my inbox will be slammed again with emails.
If all he did was take a few snap’s then what is this guy basing his opinion on?? seems like another non-believer.
roysan16:
when a player signs a loi, it is a binding agreement for one yr…….so after that year is up he/she can go anywhere they want……..i think
(J)J – pythons? you think I’m a freak or what? speaking of freak, where’s jm###? nah nah nah nah nah
Rotoworld sounds like a plumbing business.
Wow, Bradford and T-Bow returning to school. probably means sanchez is gone though i kinda hope he comes back to school too so that ‘sc would have to break ina new qb in their 2010 opener at aloha, although that guy would be mustain or berkeley, pretty good qb’s in their own right…
I believe Marve and his mom paid for their own visit or at least his mom did. I also believe Williams visited the campus a couple of years ago on his way to a mainland camp…
Birthday wishes to the boys..POPS, Kristin sends a big hug to you.
Happy Birthday Pops and Calvin
Mrs. A-House we will need a games coordinator at the
Las Vegas TsaiKogate.
hint,hint,hint
I’m here, homey!!! Next time, I going check really good before throwing steaks your way! 👿
Hi Mrs A-house!! Long time no see! How was Vegas?
Hi UHF808!! Glad to see you’re feeling better!
mauiwarrior – sounds about right. Didn’t Jack Sula sign with Boise and then didn’t show up and now he is signing with UH?
Happy New Year Curveball!!!
jm#### – better check good before you give the belly rub too.
Who is Williams?
jessie williams aussie recruit…
I thought we were looking for a running back coach??
Assistant Football Coach (Offensive Line Coach), position number 80512, UHM Athletics, (Manoa), revolving funds
http://workatuh.hawaii.edu/zoom_job.php?10561
Ralph – for a while I thought you guys was talking about the guy mentioned by Garret.
homey:
Believe he is Jesse Williams, 17 or 18 years old, a 6’6″ 320# OL from Australia who initially commited to Hawaii about 2 years ago.
Graduated early and was working back home until this year. Should have enrolled in Jan ’09, but there was some discussion about all his credits being accepted because of the different curriculum down under.
Darren – maybe it was too difficult to re-describe the position description but in the interview process they will clarify what the job duties entails.
Hi Darren:
Long time no see – last time was at the traffic light at S. Beretania and Fort Street Mall.
Will you be going to any “away” games this year? Remember you being in NOLA last year.
very very interesting find Darren…
ST:
I know you posted that Coach Mack hinted at “coaching changes” after recruiting is done. Does this still hold? Is this part of the being “blown away’ package?
A-House – yeah, they do speak a different type of Queen’s language down under.
Article about how the difficult economic times is changing college football recruiting. Concerns about being able to travel to games has resulted in parents wanting their kids to play close to home…good thing that Mac is doing such a great job with local recruiting.
Darren…I actually think that Coach Gerke’s position description was also as an O-line Coach (both he and Coach Smith)….I’m sure you know how difficult it is to change a position description once it’s written, at least for state employment it is…..
Jeremy Childs is leaving early for the NFL.
Darren,
That was an interesting find! (J)J’s clarification could be the explanation, but before he posted it sure appeared that one of the surprises would be that Mac has picked a new OL coach.
A-House – You have a very good memory. No, don’t have any plans for the away games this year….we don’t usually do that. The Sugar Bowl was an exceptional situation for us. When I grow up and the kids are out of the house, I’d like to be able to make some trips on a regular basis. How does WarriorMojo keep doing it without getting kicked out of the house???
Darren:
That job application annooouncement is very interesting considering that there has been nada from Coach Mack about a “OL coach”.
Is this Gerke’s position?
About listening to the BC show this morning. Sometimes I think BC is handicapped because the callers calling in with such redundant questions. One caller calls in observing how big the notre dame OL was. Duh… We know that… I’m thinking to myself. And then he goes on to say Notre dame picks up the creme of the crop of recruits. Wow, again…duh…genuis.. I just close my eyes and wish callers would call in with pertinent questions. Original observations and questions, please. This season when I listened to the coaches show from the willows it seems like 1/3 of the time and the show is with callers exchanging pleasntries with the coach. Maybe I’m a little embellishing but it seems like 1 minute out of everycall goes like this,”Hi coach, I like the great work your team is doing, and we thank you for the great service to our team and community. Our family has been long time supporters of the program and we applaud you for your love for hawaii and the university…and by the way how’s the horse doing”? And the coach comes back with a long winded thank you…and muses the horse is doing fine.. And there goes 1 minute of the show and I’m guessing I along with the many other listeners didn’t absorb anything. And are thinking…gees I wish callers would just get down to the meat and potatoes of questioning the coach and save all the garnish, desserts, pleasantries and applauses for the off season. Succinct, pertinent questions are very few. Questions that pick at the coaches brain, yet shedding some light on a situation so maybe he should look at things differently are the best ones. And I don’t hear too many of these…hhmmm… zzzzzzzz.
Darren, that’s a good point. How does Mojo do what he does without getting into trouble with his wife( whom I have met and is a very gracious lady )?
Moj – you need to shar your “skills” with the rest of us so we don’t always be in the dog house. Does it cost you “big bucks”?
shar = share
J(J) – Just gotta change two words (or add two words with a slash) on that posting….and that in itself describes the state system that we’re up against. You’re probably right. It’s just good to see that there’s movement on filling the position.
Good luck to Josh Leonard.
I used to always say I can’t wait ’till the new season starts, but now, wait a minute, I’m 62. What’s the darn rush? As soon as a new season starts, it means I’ve lost another year from a rapidly diminishing supply, lol. Amazing how time speeds up the older one gets.
So, take your time, my dear Warriors, I’ll have patience. Work out, get strong, practice, practice, practice and I will slowly, very slowly, count the days to a new and exciting season.
Why the heck does it take so darn long for us humans to get smarter?
I would be very disappointed if Stutzmann doesn’t get the opening created by Gerke’s departure. The guy is a great coach and a great person.
Maybe Pride should post for the Offensive Line Coach position. He sounds like exactly what we need at UH.
kapahulu….he would make an excellent oline coach and mentor to these young lads. i don’t think the salary would allow him to pay his bills.
kapoleiwarrior….are you the original kapolei warrior who visited here in the early days???
Good luck to Josh Leonard & his training in AZ. I really think he has a chance to make the NFL. That dude is strong as an ox & has decent athleticism. If he can accomplish his goal of 15% body fat & 10 pound weight gain, he may open some eyes at Pro Day
Ikaika M to Yale as DC?
al: yes sir, I’ve been lurking about since day one
welcome back kapoleiwarrior.
now, here’s your assignment. go on over to the hasiak residence and preach to him the merits of enrolling at the university of hawaii. don’t leave until he caves.
got it?
I’m sure the position is Gerke’s. I doubt Mack would dump Coach Smith after a year, especially when its clear that the offensive blocking suffered from a number of problems from RT to RB and at least their would be some announcement. Now, the CS would leave because of the inappropriate comments on this blog and elsewhere, that is another story.
got it al:
But….I am as big a booster as they come, and I think I remember reading something around here about boosters not talking to potential recruits. But I wonder if that carries over to the recruits parents as well.
jm2375orwhatevernumber syracuse vs Hoya on espn2, hoyas up 56-45 with 15 minutes to go
kapolei….it does carry over to the parents as well. although many/most schools do not follow those rules.
one site has named george daily-lyles the co defensive poy along with another UH recruit preston king.
iuta tepa and stanjarvius mckay was also a first teamer all cif pac5 div.
preston king allegedly has been offered a walkon. he would be a great pickup. small but is a football player. excellent return man and could actually become a great slotback.
Fresno needs a new offensive coordinator
did he accept the uw offer?
Did I mention that I saw Esme in the parking lot, turned, and she was gone.
Yes, she does “pull an Esme” even in real life.
…..again?
st…did you mention that jack sula was enrolled?
did you see that story i sent you???
Thank you very much for all the birthday wishes!!
For those nosy people out there…I’m 38 today
Much Aloha..time to drink soon…
A very happy and memorable birthday to Pops and CFK!
Have not yet had the pleasure of meeting either of you but the birthday wishes are sincere!
Hiya. On the road. It’s already windy in Lihue.
Be safe everyone!
Hoo Calvin, you same same like my #1 son!
happy birthday cfk.
cfk, everytime i see that acronym i am thinking;
something to eat that is fried
or
an offspring of da punchbowl kid.
LizK,
Hah?
Your #1 son starred in one Karaoke Video?
RIP Mike Sakamoto…
Got a nice pic of him w/ #1 son catching his first fish.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPS!!!! 🙂
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALVIN!!!! 🙂
WOW Mike Sakamoto! Enjoyed his fishing shows and even got to talk to him a couple of times at the “old” airport.
Condolences to the Sakamoto family!
Thanks al. Stuck at work. Just got a lot of work put in my in-box. *tsai* And am waiting for kid. She’s going to watch the MPI bb game tonight. So I won’t get home till after 8 at the earliest.
RIP to Mike Sakamoto
Happy Bday to Pops and CFK
hmmmm, CFK, do you know how to make a barbecue chicken chopped salad? oooops, wrong place, my bad……..now i am hungry
RIP to Mike Sakamoto
Happy Bday to Pops and CFK
hmmmm, CFK, do you know how to make a barbecue chicken chopped salad? oooops, wrong place, my bad……..now i am hungry
ouch,
sorry for the double post, dang it, must be the high amount of MSG in my system from my lunch meeting….where’s my bottle of Patron, i mean smart water……..
That was surprising to hear about Mike Sakamoto.
Is Bruce Carter still alive?
Bess talks about Miami’s season.
Samson probably can’t feel comfortable about his job with Miami right now. Not only have the coaches apparently been telling reporters that they want a heavier center, but they just fired the OL coach. I hope that the new OL coach appreciates what he has in Samson and helps him take his game to the next level.
A question I would ask the AD or head coach:”If a recruit has already verbaled and pledged his commitment to another school *does it still make sense in bringing him here this weekend* on a recruiting visit. Taking everything into consideration I don’t see any upside for the UH in doing this. Your own intuition would tell you by looking at statistics and probabilities and extrapolating from them you know a kid going to and making his commitment known to a Pac-10 school (and having the chance of playing in his backyard at UCLA) would very unlikely change his mind and opt for Hawaii. Right? I say save your money for recruits that are the diamonds in the rough and have an eye for Hawaii, not one that has already made their intentions and have eyes elsewhere”.
The source of my post. Just click my name.
Wow, Mike Sakamoto. Forgive me, but is Hari Kojima still alive? Those 2 shows were 2 of my favs growing up
Awww. Mike Sakamoto rip ? Another fishing host gone.
Pau pho. Time for Costco?
ST,
Not for awhile…..I think
Has anyone heard/read the possibility of losing a committed recruit who’s eligible right now to enroll at UH but can’t because of a “rule” stating we could only enroll 5 JCs during winter?? Sorry for brining news from “another” site but it just sounds really messed up if that’s the case.
I hope Kekoa is treating POPS to a very nice dinner!
Haven’t seen CFK blogging on Cat’s blog lately.
808….yah, i read that rumblings a couple of days ago. if i were uh i would look at my next option and see if he is interested. then tell masch to make a choice with a short deadline and then move on.
and we do have other options.
if you were hiring for a position….
do you want someone who will be committed?
someone who’s word is as strong as his attributes?
these kids got to know that in doing so they are showing poor moral fiber and if the nfl is an option in the future, they will question their decisions even that far back.
…nuff said.
RIP Mike Sakamoto….I know his daughter very well….My condolences
RIP Mike Sakamoto. I went on a lot of fishing trips — vicariously — through him.
Awww Sakamoto, Wasn’t he still young?

Worked with Mike at a T-Shirt printing company in Hilo. Man, he could draw! He loved his fishing illustrations.
But, what many don’t know about him is that braddah could scrap! Never looked for trouble but never backed down when it arrived at his door step.
Follow what you love, my friend. Go in peace.
al…you got a point bro. at least this recruit still has UH as an option. all i can say is take what you got bro and even if you can’t come in for spring, you can still work out on your own. come to spring practice and watch if you can play. mental rep brah mental reps.
talking about bradda Zack,
if da rumor is true, I gotta say to da young man Zack Masch
dat I wish him da best!!! If he like come now and not his
fault, and he’s been working out for this opportunity, then
the ncaa rule sucks a big one. it really sucks that we
cannot save the world, and it really bums me out that we
can’t give dis Warrior wisher the chance right now…
Zack, you gotta do what you gotta do,
I’m hoping you’ll be with us when the dust settles.
gotta show grit, Warrior, gotta show grit….
Best of luck to you, and i really mean it.
Keep working hard, and never give up on yourself.
Go Warriors!
Big Mahalo to all of the Tsaiko Ohana for your Birthday wishes for my Pops as he read the blog today. Those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting him, know that he is a very humble man who savors each day as if it were his last. You brought genuine joy to his day!
His passion for sports is what I’ve learned to share with him for many years. His support during my playing days was tough at times. He made me practice picking up grounders until way after dark. Kept me in the batting cage until I couldn’t swing the bat anymore. Shoot baskets with him until we spelled ‘Horse’ 500 times!…but the key is, we did it together. He was always there for me. Now it’s my turn to be there for him. Happy Birthday Pops!
Duffer ~ Pops enjoyed a great lunch with a group of very good friends today. Thursday nite we are taking him out to Red Lobster to enjoy his favorite seafood, (turn away from the computer Rob 25) that is, if they will allow him to have it fresh from the tank, and eat it raw!
Bold is good!
condolences to the Sakamoto clan. watched that show for a long time.
Go Hoyas!! They beat the team I love to hate – da oranges. hehehehehe. Next up is Duke on Sat am.
back to snoozing. waiting for the kid.
Hi kekoa.
Happy Birthday Mr. Furtado! And many many more!
condolences to the Sakamoto clan. that man sure increased my passion for fishing! rest in peace Mr. Sakamoto.
Now I feel less badly about Utah not having a chance to play for the national title. Texas tried to schedule a series against Utah…but after signing a “letter agreement”, Utah pulled out of the series. Texas would have played at Utah this past season…if Utah had won that game, I believe they would have played in the BCS Championship game (especially since Texas beat Oklahoma). And Utah would have been at home for that game!
Condolences to the Sakamoto family.
I think Calvin is having a happy birthday.
He’s at dinner with The Twins.
Hau’oli La Hanau to Pops & Calvin from Kona!!!
Been out all day. Thanks for thinking of me, MsLiz.
I hope you become one of us Chris Williamson.
Welcome, bradda welcome!
Go Warriors!
Tsai-kos in Las Vegas September 18-19, 2009
las vegas needs to know the numbers for the Saturday tailgate venue and buses. Planning is also underway for a Friday night Get-together Party for all mainland and HI Tsai-kos! Rich2176 needs to know who and how many tickets are needed. Survey requests for tickets will be turned over to Rich2176 at the end of February or when he asks.
I will continue to collect ticket requests until Rich2176 is ready and tailgate and FRIDAY night party RSVPs until Sept. via the survey at:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=_2b0TEhRn0xTX82JQRdJ2gyQ_3d_3d
If you cannot get into the survey or have subsequent changes, please email me the info/changes at: stevem.hnl (at) gmail.com
A summary of the data and plans are posted at:
http://home.roadrunner.com/~smurashi/tsai-kos/las2009.html
Please check if your listed info is accurate. This listing also serves as your visual assurance that your ticket/tailgate requests were received.
I’m guessing that you gotta make alot of sacrifice to come so far from home to pursue your D1A dream, Chris Williamson. As you mature, put on the weight in your legs, improve, and focus. The future is yours.
Go Warriors!!

There are a lot of ground telescopes that will come online this year. Couple with the upgrade of the Hubble and the launch for the Herschel telescope that is bigger and more powerful than the Hubble, this will be a great year for astronomers!
MIT has come up with an awesome technique to enable blind people to see photographs by projecting images directly onto the retina in one eye. If they can really make that device for less than $500, they might have a big market and improve the lives of millions of people:

So in complete boredom, I decided to Google Hawai‘i and see what came up in Google News. Came across an article about tomorrow’s analog TV shutdown. Hope everyone here in Hawai‘i is ready for that!
According to the report, the reason for Hawai‘i’s early compliance is interesting:
Hawaii’s change is happening now so analog transmission towers can be taken down before the nesting season of the dark-rumped petrel, a volcano-dwelling endangered bird.
Never heard of the bird, so I had to look it up. Its Hawaiian name is ‘ua‘u.
Jason’s calm….a belly rub from Maryanne will do that to him, a belly rub is very therapeutic for anxiety attacks…

Congressman from New York is starting a push for a playoff system
in college football.

Esmeeee whoooooosh
Good evening Tsaikos. Very sad to hear that Mike S passed on. He was a very good fisherman and info specialist. My condolences to his family.
The weather here is dark and warm. will be leaving the city of lights a little lighter, but still fat around the waist.
808ike, is it storming in hawaii? will be getting home in the morning, so hopefully not raining.
when i last check the sportsbook, the steelers and eagles were heavy favorites cause the line moved in their favor. would love to see the redbirds win and go to the super bowl for the first time.
My condolences to the Sakamoto Family; I enjoyed fishing tales with Mike. Mahalo for the fishing episodes!
i am on a roll like bhf2, but no think can catch up with him.
good evening niho mano.
hawaiian airlines is starting a new policy on using your mileage. you can now travel one way with mileage and pay for the return or visa versa. if going to one of the mainland destination and it cost more for 1 direction and you don’t want to pay that amount, you may want to check if you can use your mileage. just a suggestion!!
ok, have a great evening.

Congressman from New York is incoming chairman of the committee
on oversight and government reform. The oversight committee can’t
mandate the change by itself, but drawing attention to the subject. It
could refer the matter to a regulatory body like the Securities And
Exchange Commission or Federal Trade Commission and one of
those agencies could investigate if the BCS violates antitrust laws.
Obama said he will throw his weight around to get a playoff in place.
Others involved:
Rep. Joe Barton–Texas
Rep. Neil Abercombie
Mark Shurtleff–Utah Attorney General
Dr. David Frohnmayer, Univ. or Oregon President and Chair of the
BCS Presidential Oversight Committee, said ” The presidents,
bowl administrators, commissioners, and others who are involved
with postseason college football are pleased to work with Congress,
as they have on several occasions in the past and welcome
questions or ideas for improving the system.”
BULLCR*P!!!!!!
Should go after bhf2 record.
808ike, have at it if you like.
Howzit Whitey, don’t know to much about football but I love UH football and how they represent the state and reading the blogs concerning football …I hope we get all the recruits that committed. mahalo and have a good night!

Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.
LV
howzit. put da head down, and down down down went da head. 😀
but your exhortations on my right hand moves gets my hole body stimulated. 😆 now i’m lookin fo Ralph and Maryann(e). 😀
HiFlyer,
I didn’t realize that the bike was two week old! The press releases make it seem like it was made for the anniversary of the first B-2 flight!
Looks like Gannett is in some financial trouble. They are asking everyone at corporate to take a week of unpaid time off during this quarter.
Garrett,
thanks for the off topic. all of us going to tighten our belts. and to do my part, I promise to eat less.. next year. bwahaaahaaa.
snf snf, nah… now….
ho boy, wish i wuz where whitey stay.
Great Morning All!
las vegas,
Apologies for non-responsive behavior….it was the result of self-inflicted Belly Rubbing Euphoria inspired by Ralph’s alleged attempt at escaping the inevitable encounter with MaryAnne…nah nah! 😉
bighilofan2,
I follow what happen at the corporate level at Gannett because it directly affects the Advertiser and this blog. For example, ST and the rest who are part of the Advertiser union have the choice of taking a full week off without pay or having more layoffs over the next 2 months.
That means if ST does this blog and his Warrior articles that he’ll be working for free! Plus, that really decreases the chance of the Union and Management coming to a deal that makes everyone happy at the Advertiser, which decreases our chances of seeing the videos from the Princess. Blog strikes and other measures could be coming…but when management is taking unpaid time off, it isn’t like they have lots of money to spread around.
belly rubs… supah secret stuff lie dat can only be absolved by going to da Vatican, hook up a date for MaryAnne wit da Apostolic Penitentiary
sin in da sin city…. sinners! Gudting I lookin out fo yo bes pahtz. 😀
I’m surprised that the ACC had the best record between the BCS conferences. For those who said last week that the BCS conference teams were afraid to play D-IAA teams because of App State’s win over Michigan…BCS conference teams went 50-0 against D-IAA teams in 2008.
The only BCS conference with a losing record against the non-BCS conferences was the Pac-10…the MWC saw to that in 2008.
Coaches,
Respect and leadership during the season begins with respect and leadership in the off season, especially during the dead period.
This is the dead period.
Is everybody on the team stepping up to the plate now?
Go Warriors!
Zach Masch,
is it really yu dat neva get one of the 5 JUCO invites fo enroll on schollie now, and dat is causing you 2nd tauts? wuz reading about yu this morning on one of the dotcom sites. U getting 2 PAC10 schollie offers plus 2 more odda D1 offers now. so U get choices. I sure hope the other offers are just like ours, so U noze that choosing UH will be very similar to U choosing Arizona Western 18 months ago. big decision.
No jump da gun, Zach. play smart now. Remember how people looked you in the eye. If the Hawai peep is keeping his word, thats the big factor for you to consider. and i mean it when i say no jump da gun.
Warriors are in this togedda. U an me. and Us, Warrior Nation.
Go Warriors!
Plus,
Marcus best of wishes to you and da odda 2 plusses!
Go Warriors!
