Man in the middle?
During the 2-minute drill it appeared that … wait, is it possible? … yes, Blaze Soares was playing middle linebacker.
“I love it there,” Soares said.
Of course, it was part of a rotational experiment, and that Mana Lolotai and Jake Heun will be getting the bullk of the work there.
But, yet …

Greg McMackin has put together a bright-minded staff on defense. Newcomers Chris Tormey and Michael not only work well with the holdovers β Rich Miano, Cal Lee, George Lumpkin and Dave Aranda β but they have brought renewed energy to practices.
Keep an eye on Aranda, who is regarded as a rising star in the coaching ranks.

Yesterday’s moving day (from the dance studios) meant one thing: the rookie talent show. The closed-door show is usually a unifying event. Details are always hush-hush, but several years ago it was revealed that quarterback Timmy Chang had a recurring role as a certain blog host. I knew there was something I liked about Timmy.
Great to have Blaze as another possibility at MLB!
Catching up with the WB…
Very belated congrats to the Tsai Ohana…
Grandparents duty is to “spoil” the grandkids! π
good morning
Belated birthday greetings to all! and many more to come!
Welcome back to Frank and the rest of the brigade. Many mahalos for serving our country!

Bringing over from end of last post…
Good Morning All! It’s almost the weekend. Hope everyone has a good day.
wafan,
I wish I was keeping cooler over here. Supposed to be really close to hitting the century mark today as far as the temp goes. I hope those Whitworth Pirates stay cool during practice today.
Good morning Tsaikos everywhere.
great post ST. love you talking about da energy being shown by da coaches. gotta keep da ole phutts on dare toes. π
Nice article on Don Weir in Midweek.
Don Weir,
i’ll make a running count after today’s mail call. let you know this evening what we got.
Have a great day Tsaikos. woooooooooosssssssssssssshhhhhh
a very nice article on Mr. Weir.
BHF2
I’m a current Na Koa contributor – will add to that by sending you a check for $25.
Reports of Billy Mays death were greatly exaggerated. Where is my remote!
Speaking of TV, Hawaii games should be on ESPNUTV tonite.
Why are they still running Billy Mays commercials?
Aloha all!
Wake up and smell the turf!
Cherish each day!
Be humble!
Show respect!
And get ready for football!
Go Warriors!
Good morning, Gang!
May your day go well!
: )
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
I hope the weather on Oahu is not like Kauai. The Pigskin Pigout is tonight and it would make it miserable if it’s raining.
NYUH, Thank you for the reminder..
Tonight…2004 UH vs. Michigan State @6 p.m.and 2007 UH vs Washington @ 9 p.m. ; both shown on ESPNU, Oceanic channel 219
Are the games going to be in HD? Just wondering which channel to DVR from…
Gmornin Gang! Big shakaz all around!!
LTUH/NYUH- Mahaloz for the headsup
ST- so, who had the distinct enviable dubious task of playing you this year?
There are rumors Billy Mays estate was approached by investors to use his likeness and voice over to endorse future products.
I hope that Sol is doing well in Buffalo’s camp. For those that are curious, here is the breakdown for undrafted rookie free agents:
Minimum salary for rookies on the active roster: $310,000 for the 2009 season
Minimum salary for players with 1 year of NFL service (Colt, Hawthorne, etc.): $385,000
Players on the practice squad make a lot less: $88,400 for the 2009 season.
anybody know if there is a scrimmage set for tomorrow morning??
Garret,
Does CJ get the 1 yr even though he was on the practice squad last year?
Good Morning Gangeez! π
Nice post Mr. Tsai. In your opinion, where is Blaze a better fit, inside or outside?
Prayers for Dane and Brooke Uperesa in Omaha, Nebraska. They were involved in an auto accident yesterday when a driver ran a red light and hit the passenger side of their car. Dane walked away with cuts and bruises, while Brooke has a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and injuries to her liver. They were married in Hawaii a month ago and are both in Omaha attending graduate school.
Morning Tsaikos!
GO BLAZE! GO JAKE!
bighilofan2: check in mail to you today
NYUH asked:
Ronnie, games are scheduled here on the East Coast on ESPNUHD and start at midnite EST. So check the early evening.
UH Boise State on the same schedule starts about 5pm here so check around noon on Friday followed by Wash at Hawaii.
I also found the Sugar Bowl coming up but that was on a Fox College Sports channel.
Quoting myself from yesterday
Apparently its Hawaii night with two 2007 games: Fresno State and Boise State as well as Washington. UH vs Notre Dame on 8/24
I see Georgia vs Hawaii on FCSA on 8/25
DPK #30
All I know is just get him on the field, inside, outside dosen’t matter he is alloverside. LOL
Pride,
Thanks for the heads up.
Prayers to the Uperesa Ohana.
Great Morning All!
Jus get the bes’ eleven out there!
Gotta make it out to a practice soon…
djmitcho,
Hope the weather turns a little cooler for you pretty soon. Currently 69 as #2 son checks in for camp in Mc Minnville; projected high of 86 today.
I’m sure the Pirates will be in fine form when they head down to Abiliene
….them ‘Boys play some good football! Hope Whitworth beats ’em down before they head up to McMinnville for the Wildcats’ season opener!
See? The coaches DO read this blog!!! Because yesterday I asked if Blaze played ILB and the coaches must have thought that was a pretty good idea!
Kidding kidding… but imagine Blaze da Killah and Jake the Animal side by side… in the words of Road Warrior Animal… Whoaaaaaaaa what a rush! Hope Brashton gets another year because he worked so hard.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Healing prayers for Big C’s family and Dane and Brooke Uperesa.
Whoosh!
Ronnie/NYUH,
I don’t think all those games were shot in HD though.
UH vs MSU Football 2004 and vs Fresno State 2007 on ESPNU starting tonight at 6pm.
Good morning Tsaikos…hope all is well…
Interesting that Blaze is getting time at MLB….hmmm…
Prayers for the Uperesa ohana….
Also, requested prayers for Mrs. C’s ohana…..
Pride ~ Passing on healing prayers for Dane & Brooke Uperesa. Very unfortunate turn of events for these young newlyweds.
Still hoping for the best for Big C’s niece in ICU.
COLT- err… WATCHING.
Probably the best video Colt has ever done to demonstrate what NOT to do when shooting a video. Princess- I think your day job is secure…
http://chriscooley47.blogspot.com/2009/08/special-correspondent.html
Check out Colt’s t shirt modeling too…
Pomai-
# 36- So true dat! Blaze, like Brashton, is a force multiplier on defense because not only is their play so strong, but it will serve to jack the whole defense up. What’s exciting is that we may have few players like that spread out all over the defense. That’s one of the reasons why I think our defense will surprise, and also one of the reasons I believe we WILL be WAC champs.
Prayers for Dane and Brooke, may the Lord’s hand be upon them and the Holy Spirit within them.
Good morning everyone!
…team talent show–I would like to see the “certain blog host” performance if it is a recurring role. Any video? π
Why is Dave Aranda a rising star in the coaching ranks? Because he is good with computers? Because he likes to read and is considered intelligent? The guy never played college football, and he has a very shy personality. I don’t know. He is too much of a serious, straight arrow. I don’t see him getting in the face of a player, as a coach may sometimes have to do, or handling the media, where he doesn’t like to talk. Just goes to show you that in the neanderthal world of football coaching, if a guy has intelligence, he can be anointed as a great coach.
I’m looking forward to meeting the coaches again – this time “in their elements” – next Wednesday for Heather’s Clinic.
As for their greatness- the proof will be in the performance.
GO WARRIORS!
Prayer to Mrs. C and her family.
Mana…not sure why he is considered a rising star as a coach and maybe he is, I’ll just take the wait and see attitude with that.
Although your point is well taken that perhaps only people who have played the game can truly coach the game…there are examples of people who never played football or played very sparingly but were very good coaches. They knew how to communicate to their players and get the best performance out of them that they possibly could, they were great tactitions who could game plan brilliantly, and they understood the intricacies of the game and had the brains to do it.
LOL…and not sure if the entire world of football is neanderthal….I played ball and also had brains…or at least I like to think I did….LMAO….
bhf2
check is in the mail, from me and the kid ( not DPK )
how much are stamps now?
prayers for Uperesa’s and Ccoloma’s niece.
morning tskaiko country lack of strong trades so some humid.
curve ball there is a scrimmage friday morn prac but not sure what type. no more two a days last one yesterday. remember its a state holiday so lets pack the practice. whootahhhhhhhh
Not football related but UH sports.
I was looking online to purchase 2 season tickets to Women’s VBall but only the single game tickets are available. What happened to the season tickets?? I am sure people can still purchase season tickets but how come not online?? Lose money!!
Best wishes to the Uperesa and Coloma family.
UH has a nice feature about the Warrior DBs.
Ronnie,
Good point about Hawthorne. He would be considered a first-year player for salary purposes because he hasn’t accrued an NFL season of experience yet. To get an accrued year, a player has to spend 6 games on the active/inactive, reserved- injured or “physically unable to perform” lists.
I HAVE not heard anything about billy ray. he had a great spring, and with malcom out, i would have expected him to get a shot/?? anyone have scoups?
thanks,
ks
Prayers to the Uperesa’s and Mrs. C’s ohana
There are former players that can’t coach at all.
Dave Aranda is a good teacher. You can see it at practice everyday.
Some Questions:
1) When will be see the latest depth chart?
2) What’s the expectation of the punting this year? What is Dunnachie’s average yardage and hang time? In practice of course?
3) What do you think about the special teams are? Long snapping? Place kicking and field goals? Punt returns? Kick-Off returns? Coverage?
Kick blocking? Who’s are the wedge busters…the Ulufale’s of the world?
4) Where’s David Hafoka?
5) Where’s Christian Vasconcellos?
6) Are they working on the hurry up or no huddle offense?
7) Can Alexander call his own plays sometimes? Can he audible?
8) What are the major changes to the rules?
You don’t really have to be very smart to be a coach. Coaching101 says, they have ball, we want ball, go get it.
thanks for the clarification, I always wondered how the heck KK was able to be a coach.
Re: football coaches who never played college football?
Charlie Weis, head coach for Notre Dame, for one. Paul Johnson, head coach for Georgia Tech, for another. David Cutcliffe- Duke Mike Leach- Texas Tech George O’ Leary-UCF Mark Mangino-Kansas
I thought on George O’Leary’s resume, it said that he played in the NFL.
HD football is well and good but I was watching one of Oldie’s disc (Miami of Ohio) and you get so much into the game that you sort of forget that it is not in HD.
LTUHF: great seeing you posting again. Any new trips planned?
Stretch,
Good thing that KK was only the VP and not actually a teacher. I can’t see him teaching a bunch of elementary school kids. Imagine him teaching history? “Wow back in the day there was this civil war, and there was the north and the south, wait das not right. okay no, the civil war was with the french…or maybe da brithish. Okay, but all I remember is dat somebody went trow da coffee in da ocean. And den da guy went ride his horse tru da town and was yelling, “da spanish is coming”. And den afta dat wentget a bucnh of guys togeda foa sign dis document called da declairance of inspiration, foa inspire all of us foa be one good and betta nation. And das how us guys and alaska, and canada, all became the united states of north america. as we are today. but den no foaget dat puerto rico went secede form da union, so dey no longa stay wit us.
#70 – and all the students would tell him, “Mr KK, please put down your coffee mug full of beer”
PRIDE:
Sorry, but O’Leary was the fellow that Notre Dame released as head coach after a couple of days there as head coach for falsifying his resume – he claimed a MA from a non-existent school and that he lettered three years in football at U New Hampshire which UNH denied. He did well in his coaching career and got up into the pro-ranks as a coach but not as a player.
Pride – I contributed but did you have to cut your hair? Inquiring minds want to know …
Stretch:
I just checked with the ticket office. Women’s season volleyball tickets are still available; however, you need to purchase them at the box office or over the phone because the individual tickets have gone on line and there is no way to know that a particular seat has been sold until the close of each business day with respect to on-line sales. There is a service charge to pay by phone. If you’d like, I can pick them up for you as I have to go get ours as well.
Lower $ 165.00 + $ 100.00 (Premium Seating Contribution TOTAL$ 265.00; Upper Adult TOTAL$ 120.00
I am so sorry to hear about the auto accident. Even though it’s almost two years since my 1970 VW was broadsided by a Hummer on the passenger side, I’m still trying to deal with the aftermath – like negotiating stairs. Three out of four limbs took a hit.
A quick update to the car break-in two weeks ago at the Iwilei Costco parking lot. I filed a complaint with corporate headquarters in Seattle about the decision not to hire a security service or have security on staff. I was called yesterday and told that I would be reimbursed for the door repair and that the company has revisited the issue and has put out a Request For Bids to security firms. Any bloggers here work for a security company and would like to put in a bid?
They had assumed that given the number of people coming & going in the parking lot throughout the day, this would discourage criminal behavior.
Pride- #70- classic!
crusader08,
He hurt an ankle and was sidelined; trying to work his way back. Maybe by now he’s back close to 100%.
Sounds like a redshirt year may be in the cards.

Funny stuff! π
WDoc,
Glad to hear that Costco is being cooperative.
#72 Yep, that’s right Maynard, that’s what I was referring to. Glad that you picked up on it.
I came $245.00 short of my goal. Thanks again to everyone who contributed to the American Cancer Society.
I did cut my hair short, but not bald.
Koamahu,
Got IAAF exam?

Would not want to be the doc doing that exam.
SURPRISE!
Prayers out to the Uperesa’s and C’s family.
And,
a good near afternoon to all!

Re: #64
Q2: I can offer you an opinion of what I saw and what I clocked on my wristwatch for Alex D’s punts at yesterday afternoon’s practice on Ching field.
Average of about 35 – 40 punts were falling in the 50-60 yard range consistently. Hang time was between 4 to 5 seconds!
Q3: Longest field goal attempt was a 55 yarder that hit the crossbar. Everything inside of that max range seemed like a low trajectory, but since it was against the wind, it cuts the resistance. Overall, not impressed with our field goal kicker.
Return men: Most notable was Greg Salas. Even with his surehanded receptions, he found it difficult to handle those sky high punts, and dropped a few.
Same as place kicking. Adequate but nothing to excite the crowd.
Everything else was staged, so nothing on punt/kick-off coverage to comment on at this time.
Prayers for Mrs. C’s and the Uperesa Ohana.
BHF: sent check out in mail yesterday.
Pride. — re: #70
But his students might do well on standardized national multiple choice exams. His answers probably not there as incorrect distractors, so they would guess good…pick it up from context and a certain reasoning process… π
Hey Koakane, I got your back. My students used to comment about the coffee aroma coming from my coffee cup. Everyone used to give me ground coffee as gifts…. how about you? π
the power of prayer is real.

Great article on Heun. Keep it coming. Injury to Satele not-withstanding, the LB corps is gonna be fun to watch.
Prayers and well wishes for full and speedy recovery to the Mrs C and Uperesa families!

I couldn’t agree more, I have been saying this from the first practice I went to, this “D” is going to surprise a lot of people. The only thing is I would like to see a monster at DE position.
I have really been impressed with Jake, you can just see when he’s playing he just wants to hit somebody.

The 57-pax motor coach roulette wheel is spinning… 10 days left.

Stephen, I heard from someone close to program that Chauncey Makainai has been pretty impressive as well as Mike Wadsworth. Any chance you see these 2 seeing action this season? If Wadsworth can start, I wonder if he changes his mind on his mission.
Is anyone taping the replay of the MSU game?
D-1 & SteveM
Re: Hooters Roulette
Careful consideration is the key…never let the dealer rush you into placing your bet. Take your time…it’s like working the clock during a 2 minute drill.
I can see by your course of instruction that you are using the *Color Blind* methodology. Interesting. It can be compared to assigning the orange ‘target’ jersey to a QB, low risk, high impact if the DE is color challenged.
Odd or Even? another fascinating strategy. Easy money! Odd or even numbers are usually used with identifying the gaps in the Oline. Here is where you can choose one for good luck, and play it!
Included in *outside* bets are my real secrets to the inner game and the inside bets. Those secrets I will reveal in my $39.95 three page brochure on Wheels & Deals.
Kekoa:
Re: Hooters Roulette
Thats a great way to tie roulette(which I love) to football(which I love) so the Blog Patrol does not cite you………..I will be sending my $39.95
The question was not directed to me, but I know Chauncey Makainai is very highly thought of by people who understand and value good blocking. Some guys enter a program and stagnate, others are movers and shakers and continually get better. Part of the excitement about Chauncey is how good he’ll become. He has a great attitude. He’s someone to watch.
WooHoo…UH vs McChicken St on ESPNU right now.
Good thing my friend is DVRing for me.
I hope that Mel Purcell’s injury isn’t that bad…
Yah…DVR’ing the UH vs. MSU game right now too… I wish they would’ve replayed the Fresno & BYU games from 2001 instead though…
Looks like Bess might not be returning punts this season. Miami is seeing if NMSU’s Chris Williams can take over as the kick and punt returner for them.
I hope the ESPN guy doesn’t say because of time constraints we are moving forward with this game.
Garret: I caught the second half of last weeks Dolphins game… did Bess get significant PT in the the 1st half?
Ralph: They probably will…the game is only getting a 3 hr. time slot… I think the actual game was 4+…
Had an extended lunch earlier today so I headed out to the Manoa Bookstore to see what new UA gear they’ve got and it’s not much new products.
***New #’s for the jerseys are #12 and #1. I swore the girl on the phone told me #53 is available but I only saw #s 12 and 1.***
There is a new Hawaii Football UA hoodie in athletic grey with green trim on the sleeves and on the neck… $85.00 though… Yeah… maybe when it get’s “colder”… π
I did pick up a new UA shirt with “HAWAII” in an arch layout on the front and a new pair of UA basketball-style shorts. It’s a nice dark DARK forest green with a black strip running down the sides and the UH “H” on the bottom of the leg and the UA logo on the other leg.
What was really nice to see was the amount of kids there that were “eating up” the UH logo gear and of course their parents (of some) whipping out the credit cards… π
Also got a chance to finally check out the downtown store in Fort Street Mall and it’s a nice larger store, but they too need to stock up on new gear.
Apparently the influx of Oakley polos, hats, and button shirts are due to the Warrior Golf Team being outfitted by Oakley.
Again… the UH Rainbowtique website is in DESPERATE need of timely updates.
Curveball ~ By ordering right now, I can offer you a FREE R/T ticket to Maui on the Superferry (valid only if the Ferry returns).
Are you watching the UH game on ESPN 219?
LOL… $85 for a sweatshirt in a state where the coldest it gets is 68 degrees… ridiculous…
What’s more ridiculous is someone buying TWO UH UA hoodies for 75.00 a pop in a state where the coldest it gets is 68 degrees. Why two you ask? Because one was black and one was grey. π
McChicken not flagged for illegal ‘bench press’ on Kenny Patton!
who was the defensive coordinator for this game? how about our DL coach?
Watching the Michigan State vs UH replay on 219 ESPN U.
Jason Ferguson playing as a true freshman and was in line to succeed Chad Owens. Oh what could have been.
re 142:
I believe this was when George Lumpkin and Rich Miano were “co-Defensive coordinators”. We had one of the worst defenses in D-1a
well I believe the color broadcaster mentioned that UH was dead last against the run.

I see your methodology is much more complicated and refined than the rudimentary observation, and touch and feel methods.
Very few, if any, visiting teams from the mainland, especially from the BCS conferences, play hard and clean.
They’re mantra is play dirty and sho’um how its supposed to be playing the “big boys” – the EGO factor always runs away and when they lose, first thing is “beef” cause they know that the mainland news outlets will always blame UH for starting a fight and continue/build on a stigma created by the media and very few, if any, try to find the instigator(s) to correctly report the facts on the mainland.
I suppose it’s very easy to talk it up on the continent because there is no one to challenge their remarks and spoken often and long enough it will be accepted/remembered by the populace. Ever hear a ESPN sports caster/analyst say, “no, that’s not waht happened, this is what I saw”? I have not! A teacher at McKinley High School said, “Human nature sucks!!”
BHF2,
Mahalo for taking care of the bike collection! (Next time, use an Excel spreadsheet. I’ll send you an example of what I used for an NPR donation tracking. :))
I think you should ask the Tsaikos who sent the cash if they’d like to donate it to Doris. That would be a good use of the funds that aren’t in checks written to Na Koa. I’d go w/ sending Doris the cash to help her w/ expenses in kokua of player placement.
I’m baaaack from Hilo-Holualoa-Kona-Hilo jaunt. Fun to see old friends & hanging w/ my sis & nephew at UH-Hilo. Hope he makes the baseball team.

bhf2,
Great job!
My vote (if I get one) is to send all of it to Na Koa and let dem throw the extra into the summa scholarship fund. I like wen all dem stay around for da summa an’ train!
Nalani,
Howzit going in da Land of Da Rising Sun?
It’s already Friday, eh? …and almost Pauhana time, too! Sake ’em up! π
D1 – tokyo was nice. just landed in Osaka. very hot right now. its our only free day so we’re getting settled and then gonna go exploring. i’m hungry. good place to be hungry.
Nalani,
Sounds like fun!
Fuud-desu! π
Shannon,
Bess played with the first team offense. His day was done well before the second half.
Timmy Chang sure had some good protection in this game.
The Washington Examiner points out that the Redskins do not have a great backup OL, but then completely downgrades Colt’s QB evaluation anyway. That is sad…but I’m guessing that they have some indication from Zorn that Colt isn’t going to have a chance to battle for the #2 QB spot. Zorn actually said it to the Washington media, so Colt’s hope for the #2 spot this season is gone I guess.

Northern Michigan University gives laptops to all of its students and now it is providing them with free mobile WiMAX service (the next generation of what Clearwire uses in Hawaii). They said that they needed to go from WiFi to WiMAX because their school is in a rural area and commuter students and staff may live several miles away from campusβ¦so, students and staff get free computers and internet service in their homes!
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will install 360 new bus stops powered by solar panels that will power WiFi routers and digital information panels. plus will generate an estimated 43,000 kW-hours per year of unused energy that will be sent to the cityβs grid. The best part is that Clear Channel will pay the $30,000 cost per bus step because they will get to sell ad space on the bus stopsβso, the city gets WiFi everywhere, the bus stops generate power instead of take power, and the taxpayers donβt have to pay anything.

Kekoa, thanx for the updates. Now I’m getting worried, except for the punter. If we can’t win the special teams battle, it doesn’t bode well and trying to win would be very tough. Last year, special teams were not good. And that’s being kind.
Timmy Chang had time in the pocket during this game.
the field looks terrible with all the trash, Hawaii is the only stadium in all sports that I see so much paper debris.
thanks to pride and stretch for clarifying coaching it is good to know both of you are now starting to understand the game.
like some movie I saw that once stated “its the hard that makes it great or every one like engineers or boat movers could do it”. oh wait yea pride you tried coaching plus right on assessment of some of the classes you took to pass high school.
Special teams as a whole (excluding individual concepts) and the offensive line will be improved from last season.
To what degree? I’m not sure.
Ralph,
Forget the paper on the field. Did you see the kind of protection Timmy Chang had from his offensive line?
Nalani, Osaka is the best place to eat Fugu. Zuboraya is a large chain that specializes in Fugu, so it is very safe. Gotta have the Fugu sashimi and the hotpot with some sake. HMMMMM!
OL will be improved this yer….i think we’ll also see a nice RB core this year too!
not that we’ll run all that much, but remembering the undefeated season, it was the option to run in games that the passing game wasn’t working that gave us some of our crucial wins.
I saw this same list on Wikipedia and there is a glaring omission – Dick Tomey!
Are there any plans for Na Wahine to get together either before or after next week’s football clinic?
Re the extra money donated so far – I know that our check is not recorded so there are probably at least half a dozen other checks not recorded as well. We made our check payable to Na Koa and want it to go to them.
Why not give it all to Na Koa and let them buy another bike? Also, I was toold that the bicycle(s) will be available to other student athletes after the football season ends. Is that true?
whoops! toold = told
I thought Bess only played the first quarter of the Dolphins game. Williams played poorly. He fielded one punt inside the 10, and then ran backward only to be tackled inside the 5. Another punt he dropped, and managed to retrieve for no gain. Maybe the coach sees some speed that COULD change the field position, but that only works if he has excellent hands and exercises good judgment. Since you know Bess is good to catch the punts, it makes sense to dump all the duties on Williams for the next game.
I think the story is not so much about Bess as it is Williams; whether or not he makes the team depends on his contributions to the special teams.
W/Doc ~ Thanks for the COSCO Security tip. My cousin’s company will be submitting a bid for the contract.
Re: The bike…I hope they do find a way to share it with the other UH athletic teams in need.
Brah I remember when Cory Daniel was at that middle position in high school, whenever the hole would open he was always there to fill that gap. Also to lay the hurts on the running back or anyone coming through!

any word on what Adam Leonard is doing these days? did he make it with Seattle?
Yup, Kekoa is related to everyone…
nalani…i’d take the same bet as haka. haha.
otherwise you spot me 21 pts.
kekoa…..55-60 yda per punt. does that take into account the 15 yd drop?
Tks C_C ~ I missed RK’s show while watching UH fb on ESPN. Did you see my post yesterday about your band of brothers?
What was really funny was watching one of our hardworking UH QB’s throwing football around the perimeter of the band. He would stand on about the 10 yard line and then heave it as far as he could from the woodwind section…all the way over to the drum line crew. Then, walk over and pick up the ball and throw it somewhere else. Where are the receivers? Nobody wants to put in any extra effort, or what?
nalani….
today again i run into braddah ledward at the airport. how many times now? glad to see the braddah busy sharing his music.
on another note. i also ran into kanoe gibson on my HA flight. i always wondered what she and sis maila would sound like as a group? okay, no forget ben vegas.
what u tink?
Yes Al, it does. You have to see this kid put ’em up time after time! Booming kicks that brought down the Manoa mist! Never saw him shank one, or kick one shorter then 40 yds.
I remember watching Ray Guy kick warmups for the Pro Bowl one year. Very similar loft and distance, but Ray wasn’t as consistent.
kekoa….gotta practice then.
aussie, aussie, aussie!
oye, oye, oye!
imagine we could be the only school with two aussie alumni punters in the nfl.
kekoa call you early about practice
Al ~ I was waiting for the team to start up that chant, but they were quiet because they would have been voiceless after watching so many boomers launched. Every so often when he really got into one, you could hear a long low Whoaaaaa ripple across the field.
Nitey Nitey and
SWEET WARRIOR DREAMS!
al #193 With out a doubt this kid will play on sunday, the nice thing is we have him for four years along with Luke snapping the ball.
Howzit Tsaikos.
anybody rememba Don Weir’s #?
A House,
your #154. so true! “human nature sucks.”
reminds me of my favorite movie scene of all time: Pulp Fiction, Samuel L. Jackson pointing the gun at the restaurant robber’s head and mumblin the passage from the bible, wonderin aloud whether it meant that he, when he is holdin the gun at da guy’s head, meant he was his brother’s keeper or if he was the shepherd, or if he was the tyranny.

In truth, immediately i didn’t understand the essence. But after re-reading all at once became clear.

good writing. adds to ST’s fire.
lava,
I believe that you are correct about Bess playing just the first quarter, because I think that the first team offense only played the first quarter.
If Chris Williams makes the team, he’ll return all punts and kicks. That would take the job from Bess, which might not be bad because Bess will probably be a starting WR and will be busy there.
kekoa,
I absorbed every point you said about me.
It’s good to see you’re having your day in the sun, as by belittling me it made you, I guess, a bigger person.
You know the points you make reflects more on you as being a wounded animal than anything else.
So go ahead and continue your sinister ways and denouncing all my imperfections, like not contributing to the bike fund, writing story book posts, misspelling words and whatever other faults you can find in me because you have a need to feed your ego.
In retrospect, what you did to me, you also did to wf2. But wf2 schooled you, and I’m guessing you haven’t recovered from the sting, especially how he made you look like a fool.
In both cases, it’s true, you threw the first volley. And your dwindling band of followers can’t see this.
lava,
One thing I forgot to add–Chris Williams actually had a *worse* start that what you described. The first punt he returned he fumbled! The second punt he returned he fielded inside the 10 and ran backwards…getting tackled at the 1! The first team offense played just a few drives and he made them start at the 1 on one of those drives. Those were his first two NFL punt returns…
I remember when Chad Owens had 2 bad punt returns he was cut. Miami’s coaches showed a *lot* more patience and actually allowed him to continue to return all the kicks and punts in the game. He did well after that horrible start and will get a real chance to win the kick and punt return jobs to make Miami’s roster. If Williams had coaches like Chad had he wouldn’t have gotten a chance to redeem himself and Williams would already be cut.

according to today’s prep report, kapolei has a 6-7 OL transfer from virginia. the coaches should head to waianae to check out what other D1 talent kapolei has besides akuna and elisara. apparently that RB transfer from Cali (only JR) could be a potential stud as well.
BHF2 – will e-mail you Don Weir’s phone numbers.
Al, is the Tuesday’s Cattle Call a buffet, order off the menu ala carte, or family-style where everyone splits the check? What’s the average tab? Back when DrDoc worked at Kuhio Park Terrace, we often ate take-out from Golden Coin in Kalihi, but I can’t remember sit-down service. Have a 10 am appointment in Kapolei and 2 pm appointment in town so I’ll try to stop off.
Time to get ready for a day contemplating the next 50 years of living in Hawai`i.
