Kapolei camp

It was a beautiful day in Kapolei. (Hey, I’m a poet, don’t even know it.)

The Warriors concluded their series of high school camps with today’s session at Kapolei High. The youth camp (ages through eighth grade) is tomorrow and Tuesday on the Manoa campus.

Here was today’s host — OK, he had the key — Dr. Debonaire (Darren Hernandez). Seriously, though, Hernandez has a great organization over there. The school is clean, the fields immaculate, and he even found volunteers to work on a Sunday in the heat.

There was a 6-foot-5, 300-pound sophomore. There was a 6-1 safety with a 3.8 GPA. But for some reason … I don’t know what it is … but this guy seemed to be a special type of player:

Congrats to Michelle Wie, glad to see she finally won the big one on United States Soil. All the hype when she came out on the circuit at a very young age. Graduating from Stanford did her a world of good as maturation you can see not only in her game but as a person who was over whelm with so much pressure to win at a very young age coming straight out of Punahou. Happy for her and the whole State of Hawaii. A champion who can represent the 808 !

Finally. Redemption and validation for Michelle.

Glad she acknowledged her roots by flashing some shakas.

  29. Warrior Dave June 22, 2014 5:16 pm

Any tournament money Michelle wins is pocket change for her. Doesn’t she make $10 million a year in endorsements? Now that’s a paycheck. Nice of her to acknowledge her sponsors for sticking with her for all these years.

  30. Ipu Man June 22, 2014 6:46 pm

    Now back to football…

  31. Ipu Man June 22, 2014 6:48 pm
