UH gets JC d-tackle; Elimimian gets WAC award
Defensive tackle Nathan Mageo accepted a UH football scholarship last night.
Mageo played the past two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute.
He was raised in American Samoa, and attended the same high school (Samoana) as Isa‘ako Sopoaga.
Mageo, who is 6 feet 3 and 278 pounds, will enroll at UH in January.
He will participate in spring training.
Mageo is capable of bench pressing 360 pounds and running 40 yards in under 5 seconds.
Mageo said he turned down offers from Arizona, North Carolina State, Kansas State, Baylor, Troy and Southern Methodist.

Linebacker Solomon Elimimian today was named the Western Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week. He had 10 solo tackles and assisted on three others in UH’s victory over Idaho.
* * *
UH created this poster of Davone Bess for the coaches’ offices. Don’t you think it should be made available to the general public?

Mr. Free Play — Garret — is in town. He attended today’s Na Koa luncheon.
Number one, Baby!
Welcome to Warrior Nation, Nathan!
i knew it.
Turned down SMU, huh?
rumors have it that he came with some teammates. any truth to that stuff?
smu is trying to piggy back all of our recruits.
mageo may be just what the dline coach ordered. we lose many, he could step right in. this also reopens the samoa hotline.
and doesn’t it seem like arizona is also trying to poach all of our recruits as well.
i hope we get to play them in the near future.
are we still awaiting a surprise(s)?
word has it Lee Aguirre from Fullerton also will be a warrior. Team is in the JC playoffs so wont be visiting for another couple of weeks. Big time corner though.
top ten, but I wish it was our football team in the top ten
Troy, Troy, Troy
top 15 (3x)
Just checking inside da clubhouse to make sure jm$23.75 nevah sneak inside and leave her usual mess….going back sleep now. Homey, feed da Poodles!
Yee haw. Looks like another solid pick up. Good job coaches.
A cold morning to all!
Dang. 26-degrees right now. If I were still in bed I would have turned up my mattress heating pad.
Good wins for the UH this past weekend. WAC Champions and 2nd Place. Not a bad showing!
2nd Place in a rebuilding year!?!?!? Next year will be awesome.
C_C . . .
Thanks for the news highlights.
The stadium sure looked empty!
Sorry, good morning gangees!
Welcome to the Ohana, Mr Mageo!!
Homey, give your poodles a bath! They wen play in da mud on Sat. They stay all hauna brah! 😀 😐
Kazz, are we having a better day today? 🙄
ST & Tsaiko Blog Dogs,
Good win on Saturday. No traffic, no crowd, no rain, entertaining ball game. Almost priceless!!? Had to crack up about the fan on the post game radio show accusing Robert K of “aggressive negativism”!?! That’s a new one for the books. At our next Tsaiko Blog Bash we need to give that out as an award! Then, we will need to spend the next 6 beers defining what that is!!???
Good to see the Warriors catching on to the offense. Defense was awesome.
Great News! Welcome to Warrior Nation Nathan Mageo!
Nice to see our offense improve from the NMSU game. Sorta like ole times and the Defense…wow….I can’t wait to see the team in action against WSU. Great news Nathan Mageo…welcome to the Warriors!
Looks like Coach Mack’s philosophy on graduating players and the polynesian atmosphere played a key role in Nathan (and his Dad’s) decision. I’m pretty sure Tuioti had a hand in this as well. Great job by all!
Can’t wait to see him blasting opposing o-lines!
Nathan Mageo- Welcome to the Warrior ohana!
Have a beautiful, productive day!
Missed this til now, dang.
Tuioti is a great example. He has two master’s degrees.
OK, what the heck is twitter?
I got an e-mail yesterday saying that KGMB9 is following me on twitter?
Is that like cyber-stalking?
Or is it somebody lisping and they mean sitter?
Welcome to the Warriors Nathan Mageo!
Good Morning All!
I hear you with the cold. brrr.
Well, I guess I get to start poking all the cougar fans today. It’s gonna be a interesting week for me. I’ve already told about 25 percent of my friends that for 3-4 hours on saturday night, we are not friends. Hahaha
ST, are we looking at another RB still or are we done with that position?
There’s another ST,
Missed this article,
Congrats to Sol on earning WAC D player of the week!
Slow Monday at work,
Interesting that the computer rankings will push Oklahoma ahead of Texas in the BCS rankings if both win this week. But if Oklahoma loses then Texas Tech will be in the Big 12 championship game. So, it looks like Texas is going to be shut out of the national title picture…
Thank you for posting that article–it sounds like ST’s blog gets around 240,000 page views per month, about as much as all the other Advertiser blogs combined. That is impressive…
Tuioti is such a great asset to recruiting especially for American Samoa. Parents always look for someone that can relate to them. So its a big positive for them to see another Samoan and probably easier to open up to . Mack should send Tony to Samoa next time they recruit there. If we have competition for a recruit in Samoa, I guarantee that Tuioti would be a bigger sell than some mainland coach.
Congrats to Solly!!!
ST- Twitter is how I keep up with Davone Bess. He tweets. 🙂
I completely agree with you about the great job that Tony Tuioti is doing! He is making a difference that will benefit the Warriors for now and for future years too.
Unfortunately, there are restrictions on off-campus recruiting for Tony Tuioti because he’s a recruiting coordinator instead of an assistant coach…
ah..I see ST!! You ask me what twitter is….I don’t know…then you come on the blog and ask them huh?
at least he asked you first, i think that is admirable and very self preserving 🙂
Mageo is an impact player and a huge get. He’ll make everyone else better. He is excellent at getting off the ball. Well done!
ST is such ‘da man’, boasting to us all the time that he can do anything he wants, anytime, and with anyone…..he justs has to ask you first. now that is the sign of a real man in my book….that’s why we tell him…..U DA MAN.
Great Morning All!
Good news about Mageo.
Was he the only one to commit this past weekend? Hope the weather didn’t “rain on the parade” for UH’s recruiting effort.
Mageo is a ‘diamond in the rough’, and will continue to get stronger with better technique. to have that size and that motor, makes me want to ‘streeeeetch’ the beast in the off season between two Hummers….slowly of course 🙂
Welcome back Bulla.
You are back, right?
Congratulations to Solly for his D-POWk award!
You ‘tweet ting’ you!
When are coming out to the t-gate? There are always some exotic dishes offered up. Even the baked goods are done to perfection.
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
Great news this morning with Mageo joining the team. It’s good that he will be coming in early so he can get in during spring training.
Good Morning Wena – how come for “ex”son in law did not invite you into the box on Saturday??
#2 son is airborne on his way home!
Looks like a strong tailwind is pushing up the ETA; maybe no can go Na Koa…
ATTN: Wessai Chaptah
LizK will be joining us today for our welcome back dinner for #2 son at Thelma’s. Prolly around 5:30.
If can, can.
whew, what a looooooong weekend. of all games to go flat….that’s football. E. Washington came to play, and we had to look for guys ready to play.
got exciting in the end, but we still lost by a TD. Cameron had 4 int’s, not typical for him.
Ryan played some in the 1st half, but took a shower at half time and was in a sling to isolate his shoulder. he was very upset, because at one point they were 6 for 6 in 3rd down conversions….
we still go to san luis obispo and play Cal Poly, and if we win that, we head to Montana to play them. one game at a time.
SO HAPPY for the Warriors, saw the game on the internet, Defense was smothering….good to Sol getting the award, he is so deserving.
have a good day to all Tsaikos.
Welcome to the Warriors, Mr. Mageo.
With all of these great recruits and the steady improvement of the team under Coach Mack, I think the Warriors are going to be very tough in coming years. Good job by Coach Tuoiti as well.
When I see the word Twitter I always think of Tweety.
When Tweety Twitters, he often sez, “I tawt I taw a poody tat on Twitter!!!
You know, every time I hear debates about Kama Bailey, I can think of a better guy UH should have offered: The Beast.
Bailey is very good, but a little perspective. He was offered a chance to join as a walk-on. And at the time, he was recruited, UH had Malcolm Lane and Ryan Mouton as kickoff returners. Also, back at the time, Michael Washington was considered to be a good punt returner (he returned one for a TD last year). And in UH’s planned offense, a bigger back was needed. Of course, in retrospect, Bailey would be an outstanding punt returner, and he could be the shifty back who would succeed Libre.
twitter is a mass txt msg website. if you want to update your friends what you’re doing and vice versa, you can send/receive a message via the website or your phone. you can either “follow” people or your friends can “follow” you.
lizK and myself follow Davone.
Son-in-law had a good time.
But son-in-law’s father had a better time.
It was his first game in 20 years.
I’m off to practice. Be back in a bit.
Doesn’t practice start at 8??
My number two son is flyin’ in from the east coast on Wednesday also. What are the odds? 🙂
Thanks for that info about restrictions, I didn’t know that. Well, I’m pretty sure Tuioti contributes big in whatever way he can or is allowed to.
Congrats to Solly! Congrats to all the Warriors for a great game!
Before the game, one of the Idaho coaches came out and had a real quick chat with him. He told us, “I’m the defensive coordinator and if we do a good job, you can give me a hard time.” Well… I had to be nice to him.
Glad to hear that. I’m sure you’ll be having a Very Happy Thanksgiving!
you get yahoo mail
If you’re taking a trip to SLO, stop to eat at Jocko’s in Nipomo. You won’t regret it! 🙂
We had family in town this weekend so no time to comment and barely enough time to watch football.
I switched over from the Boise State game to watch the last few minutes of the Apple Cup. Wow. I said a few weeks ago that one of those teams was going to have to win that game whether they wanted to or not. It looks like UDub really is the biggest disaster of the year. You have to hand it to Wazzu. After a truly inept season it says a lot that they didn’t give up when they were down, had no timeouts, and some 80 yards to drive with less than two minutes to do it in. They are going to come in next week with some enthusiasm.
I could not believe the beating that OK put on Texas Tech.
It was great seeing the Warriors keep the momentum up from the NMSU game. The defense was bizarre. For their two touchdown series Idaho moved the ball at will and pushed the Warrior D around. It was like they could do whatever they wanted. But the rest of the game Idaho just got punished. What’s up with that? I was disappointed that ESPN was picking up the Idaho feed. The announcers were pretty decent I thought but the camera work was mediocre at best.
It was great that Jake Santos got a series. Kudos to McMackin for putting him in. I hope that LWJ gets to play next week. Wazzu is the closest thing to his hometown team.
Good morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes….busy day…again.. Going to get my car fixed..yippee!!!
Congrats to Solly….and a welcome to Nathan from the Warrior family…
…also congrats to ST. Saw the story in yesterday’s Tizer about the web site. It said that the Tizer blogs were averaging 480,000 views a month, with over half going to ST’s Warrior Beat Blog…..awesome….
Great win on Saturday. Now, focus on WSU for this week.
Hope everyone has a fine day….
Aloha and good morning everyone!
Wait a minute.. wasn’t ST already at practice? LOL…
That StephenTsai link on plurk is a different Stephen Tsai… someone in Taipei with the same name.
Looks like our Defense has pretty much reloaded. Hopefully the new guys will be able to spend spring and/or summer in Hawaii and bond as well as learn the bread and butter plays.
Another Stephen Tsai? Sorta like the re-incarnation of Bhudda…
Ho’omaikai to Sollie for his WAC D POW award!
Welcome to Nathan!
Is LWJ’s foot still a problem? I had hoped to see him in Saturday’s game.
great get coaches!
even greater that he’s coming in january and will be here for spring ball! hopefully he has no trouble with the compliance people at UH.
And the recruiting beat goes on…. Man, the future looks great, now, let’s have three more wins and this season will have been great, considering all the pitfalls the Warriors had to navigate.
d1 & DPK,
Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving with sons home. Mine is here for a visit in December.Crazy kid wants to cycle around the island. Gotta locate loaner bicycles.
See some of you at lunch!
Esme & out…
If ST can catch the mouse in my house (it got in thru a hole in the screen)… then I can proudly say to him “U DA MAN”
I thought it was going to rain at the game so I decided to stay home.
Yeah…Jodie’s boyfriend DID have a nice stadium box reserved for some special people…but evidently….I didn’t rate! nah…I’m glad he took his dad, his brother, his dad’s good friend and his son, and his good friend Stephen. And of course he took Jodie. That’s 7. …. yup…no room for me….nope… ok…wait till he comes over…
say it aint so!…we might have to play someone from the MAC? Man i really really REAAALLLY hope not.
I notice in recent times Hawaii has done that…either Pac or Mac. Has the Hawaii Bowl ever considered an agreement with the SEC or Big-12 etc etc before?
Good morning everyone!
Congrats to Elimimian and a big welcome to Nathan Mago!
At work today…shucks, I had hoped to make a Na Koa lunch and today would have been a good time with Garret here. Anyway, have fun and enjoy!
I’ll be back at lunch time…
Question: why was Idaho #6 ejected from the game? Heard earlier that he punched someone? And if so, why wasn’t there a flag?
BTW, great win this weekend – D stepped up big time. Love to see that intense pressure up front. And the offense finally seems to have found a consistent rhythm. Congrats to all!
iwonder – the money that is paid out by the Hawaii Bowl is minimal so most “big” conferences will not send a team over since they would lose money. If the pot was fattened a little, then more conferences would be interested.
Does anyone know if the team is practicing Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) morning??
The Big 12 has *9* bowl spots this year and minimal travel expenses to lesser bowls in San Antonio, etc. The bowls they travel to pay *much* more than the Hawaii Bowl. Plus, they don’t really need a 10th bowl…when 2 of the Big 12 teams make BCS bowls they won’t even be able to fill all of their bowl spots (the MAC will take over).
The SEC has *10* bowl spots this year considering that they will have 2 BCS spots. So, they will not be able to fill off of their bowl spots.
With the shortage of bowl-eligible teams, the Hawaii Bowl will be fighting with many other needy bowls who pay more and will cost less to travel to. I really hope that the Hawaii Bowl gets the #4 MAC team instead of the #6 or #7 MAC team!
Oops, my post was to iwonderwhytheyhateme and not to MattO!
I’ve got to run to a Clearwire store now (an option for my in-laws) and then will get to the Na Koa lunch. Hope I don’t get lost…this will be my first drive to a new place without a NAV system in a long time.
I guess your hubby must be rubbing off on you. He says the same thing about practice when it rains but his excuse is that, “I don’t want to get my panties wet”
Hi everybody! Where have I been? I dunno… Twitter! Hahaha! I don’t know what that is either. I’ve heard of it, but I don’t really know how it works. Pretty shame for someone my age, huh? LizKauai and chawan_cut got it down!
And now Citigroup is gonna get bailed out. Can I get bailed out, too?
#55, mahalo for the props for ryan. it all worked out for the best, he’s in a good place with the other Coach Mac. of course he would have loved to play here with his former team mates, but he is doing well with the other local boys in Ogden Utah.
he’s played all 12 games, started against Portland State and Coach Glanville, has 12 solo tackels, 9 assists, 4 tackle for losses 18 yds., 2 sacks for 13 yds., and 1 forced fumble. not bad considering he draws the double team more often than not. not bad for a True Freshman, and he’s only getting faster and stronger. he can only bench 405, squat 625, and power clean 345, and wishes he was faster than his 4.9, but for his size 6’1 and 275 lbs., he does alright.
his best games were UH, Utah, Montana, and Portland State. it’s all good, Weber State is limping into the playoffs, but hey, co champs for the Big Sky Conference and still playing, gotta like that.
mahalo to all the Tsaikos for the love and prayers for The Beast, he misses home, and he misses everything about Hawaii, but he is taking advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity….playing football at the next level and getting a FREE education.
we’ll definitely do a Cattle Call when he gets back in mid December!
TMI, but funny 🙁 what color were they for ST?
WELCOME TO THE WARRIOR OHANA AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR SUCCESSFUL CAREER AT UH.
E komo mai, come and be part of history with the Warriors.
One down and 4 to go.
Don’t hold back on us now cause you know we are dying to quench our recruiting appetite!!!
Sorry, did not check.
Go Wild Cats!
ahouse…. i thought it would be 5 to go???
2 jc ot’s
1 offensive surprise
are da 2 LBP recuits coming in for da cincy game. hope so, that would probably be the best environment for them to see.
not gonna be able to witness my 2 alma maters butting heads this weekend, any of you know if the wsu game can be seen at da califronia hotel or anywhere else in downtown LV…
29 pt favorites against a pac10 team, WOW, and we score 20 or more pts and they go down as the worst defensive team ever in terms of pts given up…
thanks for the info. makes sense. hopefully we can be more competitive in our payouts and attract bigger schools. i would take an ACC or Big-10 over a MAC any day.
buuut first thing is first. lets win out the rest of the season!
Great win for the Warriors against the Vandals. One more and we’re Hawaii Bowl bound! Who wants to see Notre Dame come play instead of a MAC team on Christmas Eve? That would be awesome (and a sellout.)
I luv this time of the year with all the recruiting excitment and hopes of next season stirring in the air.
Looks like the coaches are doing a fine job and I think the Warriors are their best recruiters. They play hardnose football and mix that with an exciting offense. How can it be better?
I hope we can get more local guys to represent UH.
Torres looks like a gamer. I was impressed with his heart and toughness. They really raise them well on the NorthShore!
Did UH offer some kids from Waialua or ask to walk on?
Appreciate any info on this.
happy turkey day bro, long time no see. i think Notre Dame would be great, what a draw that would be. also, that would make for a great TV pitch…….nice idea…..IMUA
you should change your name to ‘the king’ or elvis…..my better 1/3 was so impressed by the melodious overtones coming from behind our booth at Genjis that night……..oh what a night……haha.
mahalo for making her smile 🙂
BULLA: Hope Ryan’s on the mend rapidly and completely.
Best wishes to the Bulla clan!
CONGRATS TO THE WAHINE VB TEAM
hawaii has already offered 2 Waialua players that are currently juniors: Micah Hatchie and Graham Rowley.
MATT: Per the player, he said that he was trying to separate players who were getting a bit physical and doing the bravado thing when the referee got slugged and he was accused of doing it,
Davone Bess may become the Dolphins #2 receiver since it looks like wideout Greg Camarillo is done for the season.
Questions on recruiting….
It’s great we got all these verbals so early. With that said though is the Coaching Staff going to try and “snake” other recruits that have verbally committed to other schools? In other words if a recruit verbally commits to Fresno State (but we had interest in the same recruit) are we going to try and snake the guy away from Fresno? You know..turn the heat on and try and get the kid to change his mind?
And what if we know we have a recruit that “without a shadow of a doubt” will sign on letter of intent day…can his trip/visit be given to another possible recruit instead of wasting the time and money on the kid you know for sure is going to sign with UH?
my friends were asking about call the coach. is the $1 heineken special always there? if so, we’ll be there.
Thanks for the link, LizKauai! They need to get Davone in there too for when the AFC vids come out.
Also, I can’t help but smile hearing that Mageo turned down Southern Methodist. 😉
$1 Heinekens are always on special at Call the Coach, I believe.
Bulla- howzit to you and the family. Sorry to hear about the Weber St. loss. I’m sure your son was frustrated with his injury. I hope he heals up soon! Are you and Mrs. Bulla coming to any of the last 2 Warrior football games?
LWJ must still be hobbled by his foot. I caught a glimpse of him on the sidelines in street clothes congratulating Libre I think after one of his TDs.
since when did you drink heineken??
bb…my opinion on this is that mack has stated that they are nearly done with recruiting. just waiting on the players that they have offers to that have not yet committed or will not committ. he did say that unlike some schools, he will honor any recruit who has committed regardless of who comes along. he won’t throw anyone under the bus.
mack and tony are smart. they will keep one or two scholies open in case there is a prospect who suddenly appears and he is one that would be hard to pass up.
now if a prospect informs us that he is wavering and is interested in hawaii, it would behoove us to at least listen.
we are just about all but done recruiting already. it is now a matter of maintaining communications with those who have verballed.
letsgowarriors. Mahalo for the info.
Been awhile since any players from the Bulldogs program went D1. Got some good material but lot of them the parents won’t let them play.
At least we got some from the Haleiwa area at UH. Aneli & Kahai, GO Warriors!
I heard Cattle Call…
they asked me.
i always remembered you and koakane planning your tuesday evenings out so i figured i’d ask.
Yes…in case you missed it, Iwonderwhytheyhateme sang a song or two in english, which got an approving “eyebrows up” from Peaches. Then he sang in fluent Japanese which brought a congrats from Tina. Tina is a tough audience–I have seen her applaud las vegas and RK and hold the microphone for prideperiod on 3 occasions… 🙂
I’m thinking we have “International night” when las vegas hits Genji’s in February. Featuring Japanese, Korean, Filipino, etc… ahem… yeah, you know who I’m lookin’ at… 😆
Having lunch break at the seminar. Having Indian food. Mmmm
If jojo plans a cattle call will she show up?
no ways bulla,
no can beat your honey. she was da bomb. “these boots arent made for walking…” was classic! how come you didnt sing with her?
everyone did a great job. lots of talented singers for sure. but wait…how come i didnt get to hear you sing?
hope we have another k-kall again soon. haha =)
I bet if the players had any say on where they would want to play their bowl game (if money wasn’t a factor for the school), they would choose paradise any time!! Snow, and cold vs. sun and beach on Christmas eve? A no brainer…
When Boise played here last year, their fans gave them a lot of flack for choosing Hawaii instead of staying home to play in their bowl game.
But yes, it is a no-brainer!
Tony Tuioti was the guest speaker at Nā Koa today. And Garret was the special guest. Shrimp curry was served, which we hadn’t had before. Glad to see a full table of Tsai-kos. Now, it’s time for me to study …
Hey duffer! Did you guys get together this past weeken?
No, whitey is in South Dakota, hunting!
Did you ever get to Star Lite?
whitey said he thought he saw you, but having never meeting you, that would be hard to do! 🙂
Tsaiko’s in attendance at Na Koa today along with Jason & Garret included D-1, Mei Ling, Myki, sj-macro, A-House, Me & Pops. ST & RK showed up later to police up the leftovers of Poke, garden salad, Kalua Pig and cabbage, Shrimp Curry, Sticky Chicken okole, and banana creme pie.
Tony T. gave a great breakdown of the key plays executed by both the offense and defense. As usual, there is a lot of extra-curricular activity going on away from the ball that he highlighted. Whenever he did, a roar of laughter would erupt from the near capacity crowd. He also covered Recruiting. A-House cornered him for his autograph to be placed in the A-House book of Fame.
The Tsaiko’s were shut out of the door prize drawings for the first time this season. The prizes are really kinda sparse, and the helmet is the only thing worth winning. I need to do the shopping for them so they can give better stuff away, with more variety.
California Hotel usually brings in the Hawaii football games – check it out on the mezzanine level.
Aksed Tony Tuioti about recruiting in the San Diego and he said definitely and will start soon. He mentioned some defensive players so I asked him about your neighbor.
He seemed like he did not know of a running back who sent info, but will check his papers as they get many tapes/paper info on players who want to play for UH.
Duffer ~ We’ll be in on the Wednesday morning tide. I’ll have my GPS signal up so you can keep track of our travels around Maui county.
Good afternoon Tsai-kos!
Congrats to Solly & Jamie Houston on their POW awards! Go UH!
BTW, overheard a couple of Wazzou alums at work discussing the game. One said they had to call Wazzou for tix cuz UH is sold out. That can’t be true, can it?
jm$23.75 ~ Tell those Wazzou Bazzoos I got 2 together in section “U” up in the blue section under cover for only $129.99 each! Hurry, ’cause they go up $10 everyday that they hesitate!
You can keep your 10% finders fee or donate it to the Tsaiko clubhouse for a new alarm system and guard dog wash tub for Homey’s poodles.
I must say Kekoa or should I say Diane makes one of the bestest lomi salmon and combination tripe-beef stew ever!!!
MLiz – I think you should scold ukuleleboi for taking all the tripe before anyone else could get some!
jm1234 – Sold out??? I don’t think so. Get plenty seats available on the ticket website.
Kekoa – You’ll need a Tsaiko sized wash tub for the poodles.
Watched the Warrior game again and the defense was hustling all night! Solly was all over the place. May they continue to keep their motors running the next 3 games.
Hi Annoddah Dave,
I heard that fan too; and RK’s response to that was …”That’s a bunch of crock”… that too was priceless!
Props to Kama Bailey. He ran hard and tough, picked his holes and went all out.
Anyone notice which Warrior got his bell rung on the opening kickoff?
Kekoa & Homey – new alarm system? You mean one that’s Kekoa- & Homey-proof? hehehehe. 😛 😈
Homey – wash dem poodles! Dey stay hauna from playing in da mud on Sat.
I didn’t think it was sold out. Bet they don’t even open up Ford Island this week.
Noticed the ‘Tizer is using Twitter. There’s a link at the top. If it was mentioned before then obviously many of you know that I’m slow…DUH!
#41 Corey Paredes was woozy after the first kickoff
Congrats to Sol Eliminian as WAC Defensive Player of the Week….great job!
jm0007 – The poodles stayed in the house all weekend. Only thing I gotta clean up is the shishi and dakine. That can wait till Thursday morning.
Jorge – Thanks! He was kinda staggering to the sideline.
Great to have DT Nathan Mageo on board; keep ’em coming!
Rainbow Wahines looked awesome in Game 4 against New Mexico State…Congrats to the Wahines for winning WAC Women’s VB title again!
LTUH – Still waiting for you to hang out at the t-gate. And a shout out to Jamie Houston for being MVP in the WAC Tourney while only using her B+ game. I’m waiting for her to bust out her A+ game come NCAA Tourney time. And also to Aneli and Stephanie for stepping up!
Homey – you shua? There was muddy paw prints in da clubhouse. Dey looked suspiciously like your poodles. Ask Esme. She wen help me clean em up.
jm99nevermind – pffffftttt…those muddy paw prints are from UHfan808’s doggie house slippahs. Speaking of UHfan808, she wore some hot looking camouflage rubber boots to the t-gate! Speaking of camouflage, BG and his guest were wearing matching military fatigues and when they walked by the bushes they just disappeared.
I wonder who will be tomorrows newest Warrior recruit???
I think d1 mentioned it but it was awesome to see 100% Ha’a participation.
JM$2.99 (devalued dollah) I can offer you 99 cents bail out money if you install the new alarm system.
Wait, did homey just say UHfan808 is hot? 😯
Oh, wait, read that wrong. 😛
Costco regular gas selling for $2.099/gallon; premium is $2.259/gallon; only thing the line goes out to Dillingham Blvd.
Jason – All Tsaiko women are hot. 😉
LTUH – It’s cheaper at Waipio Costco.
Thanks for the invite; yeah we miss the Tsaiko-gates –the camaraderie and da fuud!
So where’s UHFan808 been these days? Haven’t seen her lately. Esme been around more than her. 😀
Should I be taking “How to Woo a Woman” lessons from homey? Then again, the advice chawan_cut has given me has been lamer than usual, what Stretch has advised has gotten me slapped a few times, and James’ tidbits all involve long walks under a moonless sky from the Capitol down Hotel Street.
jm0001 – At least UHfan808 shows up at the t-gate…
stop picking on my friend UHfan808, i’ll sick dpk on all of you…..(down boy, good doggie, no biting, whoa, down boy i said…) haha
sure do miss the Tgates, looking at coming to the one for the cincy game, that’s if you’ll let mrs bulla and i and the beast drop in for some of the 5 f’s……miss everyone, so bad, i had to sing at the last kk, haha
LTUHF and homey . . .
Costco fuel lines are short (no waiting) and the price was down yesterday to $1.89! I suspect next Sunday it will be down to $1.87 (or lower, I hope).
Of course, you will have to drive a bit out of your way.
Congratulations to Sol, Nathan and the Wahine!
What is the date of the 1st home game next season?

Hey, I want a poster of that! Garret’s picture, that is, so I can motivate myself academically. Every classroom should have one! 🙂
As for the other poster, that’s really nice, too.
That would be a cool poster!
Wessai Tsaikos (or anybody in the area)
Liz is on her way to Thelma’s with #1 son. We are meeting her there along with Kekoa and Pops.
Rendezvous at 1730….
Oh, bettah get movin’
And just as I said I needed to motivate myself academically … I quit, I don’t want to study anymore. 😛
On the way to Thelmas. Crawling through traffic heading west.
the alternative to study is go find a job and learn how to make that gimchi from yo mama.
choices…..in life we always got choices.
and remember what i always say…..”nobody plans to fail….they just fail to plan!”
d1….just know how to make a grown man who had to forego lunch (more worse), drool.
ouch! i just was hit by a few hunger pangs.

What is the date of the 1st home game next season?
wafan….depends on who want to take.
Here’s another article about why Davone Bess may start this week:
al: Geez, just talking about tonight. I decided to stop and head over to the SSC.
So how do you like this: I guess since they don’t pass out balloons to the students behind the basket anymore, they pass out rally towels. The entire first row gets a towel … but only the middle six on the second through fourth rows. I guess I need to remember to bring mine every game now, since I’m not getting any new ones. 😛
That was a good saying:
Nobody plans to fail
They just fail to plan
I’m going to whisper that in my daughters ear….not that she’s failing. It’s just that its a good saying.
This was probably answered before, but did Davone choose #15 in honor of Colt?
Katie is doing well – and we think she is the best dog in the world. She seems to have adapted well to our house, and she seems to be keeping to her normal schedule/routine (well except for sleeping in either Ian or Aaron’s bed 🙂 ).
I want a Bess poster. I want a Bess poster. I want a Bess poster
Let’s all chant:
I want a Bess poster
I want a Bess poster
I want a Bess poster
Did it work?
For those of you who like to get up REALLY early for Black Friday sales:
here’s a website that lists the sale items by store….
And here’s another
I want a Bess poster!
I want a Bess poster!!
I want a Bess poster!!!
al . . .
Thanks! I am guessing that is still an open date.
I hope a game is scheduled — because of the late Labor Day I might finally be able to go to a home game! YAY!
To paraphrase C. Dickens’ Oliver Twist, “Please, Mr. Tsai, may we have those posters?”
Any word on Aaron Kia’s injury…he went limping off the field. And Vaughn Meatoga (he had to go to the locker room). Were they non-events?
BTW. I think Aaron’s father’s name is Malcom. Do you know if the dad is a Waipahu grad? I played football with a Malcom Kia at WHS.
Isn’t it pretty expensive just to make one (1) poster?
Just watched a program on the Food Channel. I did not know there was a cacao farm on the Big Island. Interesting. I have never heard of the Hawaiian Chocolate Factory.
Hawaiian cacao is the best. Highest oil percentage and aroma. Going to be bigger than coffee.. just you wait!
mih . . .
Price depends on the printing process — laser, inkjet, plotter, dye-sublimation, . . .
It was probably more expensive for the computer seat time. HA!
mih . . .
WOW! The Hawaiian Chocolate Factory (I am guessing that also includes the farm) — do you know how long they have been in operation?
I would love that poster of Bess, especially since I’m also a Dol-fan! Can we get a pic of Samson added to that poster?
Commercially, no more than a year or two, I think. I know that they have been experimenting with cacao on the big island for a number of years. There was a write up in the tizer about 6 months back, I believe and I think it reported that the Hawaii Cacao was already among the most prized. There might be other farms on Oahu and Kauai as well. You’d think that Molokai and Lanai would look into it as well.
Kia’s “tweak” is not serious.
He should be fine.
Same with Meatoga.
The concern is with Pilares. I think he aggravated his right foot. I’m sure he’ll play Saturday, but I’m not sure how much he’ll practice this week.
By the way, coach Mack gave a shout-out to the Tsai-kos at today’s news conference. He said he reads the blogs, and that the Tsai-kos have done a lot for the program.
By all means, Bess’s poster should be made available to the public, for a price. Use this as a money making project for the Athethic Dept.
Say, 50-50% split or 60% UH and 40% Bess. If he so chooses, he can “donate” his share to NaKoa.
Anyone going to the Call the Coach tomorrow. Please ask for the rationale for the defense to play so far off the gunners on a punt. Idaho was just blowing by the defensive guys and just going staight to the punt returner unimpeded.
Pilares hurt his foot? I thought it was his knee. Oh dang, this year is pretty brutal on the guys.
That people in the athletic department actually publicly admit they read the WB is a huge leap forward from the recent dark years.
Mahalo’s for the info. Kinda neat that Coach Mac reads the blog. He won’t be surprised when we do the ha’a at Vegas next year. hehehehe
Time to check for cracks in the eye lids!
One day closer to Thanksgiving — and this year there is a lot for which we should be thankful!!!
Did I mention that my mother-in-law is a chef? And that my mother makes her own lau lau and my favorite chicken/mushroom skewer dish? I lost about 20 pounds (doctor’s suggestion) since my doctor’s appointment last year and I think I’m going to gain it back in the 5 days we are in Hawaii!
Before the Anniversary party, athletic dept worker bees (just like us!) said that they always read the blog. During the Frazier rumblings, that was how they knew what was going on!!!
Believe that the Hawaii cacao is rated as one of the best worldwide and that all of their production is, at this time, reserved for the ‘high mucka mucka” chefs on the mainland.
The vanilla bean grown on the Big Island is also of very high quality and that is also being “exported” to well renoun chefs on the mainland. No locals sales to date, but correct me if I am wrong.
I wasn’t a special guest at the lunch–I’m proud to be a regular Tsaiko and enjoyed talked story with everyone at our table. Tony Tuioti did a great job as the speaker and the food was as good as advertised. Knowing that the money helps the Warrior program makes it something I won’t pass up whenever I’m in Hawaii during a Na Koa lunch.
It just doesn’t feel right without BHF2 around…
Thank you for the article on Bess and on the Katie update. It is great that she gets so much attention at your home…she loved sleeping in our bed until Lori became allergic after we had her for a year.
Bess poster! If no stay printed, a PDF is good! I can get one printed at Kekaha Credit Union !
It was pretty funny to read Ferd’s column and an article in the other paper that went over the Pac-10 chances for the Hawaii Bowl…they basically came to the conclusion I had on Saturday. I wish that Stanford would have beat Cal, but the better team won. It would be great if UCLA could get bowl-eligible, but winning their last 2 games including one against USC makes that highly unlikely.
I don’t like “zebras” who officiate UH games, but after reviewing the game and Lane’s actions in the end zone, kudos to the officials who flagged him for unsportman like conduct.
One official, in particular, kept tell Lane to stop, but Lane kept doing it until flags were thrown. I, for one, would have “kicked him out of the game”. There is no place for such action on the field.
At the NaKoa luncheon, it was revealed that Keala Watson got the “15-yarder” for allegedly punching a ref, but no one saw the punch or who threw it, but Watson was nearby – wrong place at wrong time.
I would love a Bess poster! I would love to see what would happen if ST got a poster and put it up for a blog contest! Or, if they don’t want to print a lot of them then one could be auctioned off with the proceeds going to Na Koa.
Can you imagine a whole season of T-gates? We’d have you looking like an Akebono clone! Best wishes to you, Lori, the kids, and all the relations…have a fantastic time in paradise.
It looks like there may be a LOT of media coverage for the UH-Cincinnati game…with some of that coverage because Cincinnati’s coach is rumored to be the target of the coaching search for Tennessee. I wonder if that speculation could distract their team and make them vulnerable to a determine Warrior team that will be on a roll after beating Wazzoo for their 3rd straight win.
Hi Coach Mack!
I was so happy that they showed your chest bumps with the Dee when they held that 4th down line! I saw you from the stands and was poking people around me to look and they all thought I was delusional. Way to go! 🙂
Welcome to the Warrior Nation Nate Mageo…DLine going be big and mean…Mageo, Keli’ikipi, Williams…hmm?
Anybody know the score for the UH-Iowa State BBall game???
D-line/O-line off-season training should include “sumo” training.
Afterall, they don’t just stay stationary and push guys; they are constantly moving, just like sumotoris. Got real good former Hawaii sumotoris who may want to be guest instructors.
And, why or what’s the philosophy behind the O-line dropping back for blocking and giving the D-line a significant advantage? Why not “charge” the D-line? Push the D-line back to give the QB and/or RB freedom to roam. Bet it would take them by surprise and may be very effective.
I ate like crazy on the cruise and gained a ton…but I lost it in a few weeks due to a lot of exercise. I think that 8 Tsaiko-gates wouldn’t be worse than a cruise…and since it would be spread out, I would have lots of time to work off each one.
Lots of walking around (especially pushing a stroller around Legoland, Disneyland, and the Wild Animal Park) and Wii Fit (motivates me to do 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and that hula-hoop game really is a good workout) would burn off those Tsaiko-gates! I decided that I had to lose weight but I didn’t want to deprive myself of food, so I just exercise extra.
Davone Bess poster would be nice…
What would be better is a poster of all the Hawaii produced NFL players which will probably never happen but that would be nice too…
Hopefully Travis Laboy and Davone Bess can make it to the Pro-Bowl this year, I keep voting online at NFL.com daily…
Garret- did all go well with your presentation? Find the right analogies?
Good job Solly on winning WAC Defensive POW! Hope to see you and Adam playing on Sundays in the NFL…
ANYBODY KNOW THE SCORE TO THE UH – IOWA STATE BBALL GAME TONIGHT???
He left the game after landing on his knee.
But it’s his right foot that’s hurt.
I was walking/limping with him today.
The presentation went very, very well and my company was approached by two large companies for new opportunities. Things should hopefully go well and soon I’ll have to worry about hiring instead of making sure I can find enough work for the people in my company.
The analogy was appreciated by the reporter, and the story was turned in on Friday. It will be out in a few weeks and I cannot wait to see it! I hope that the reporter used the analogy…I couldn’t think of a good one and the other people in my company couldn’t think of any good ones, but the Tsaikos really came up with some good stuff!
25-22 UH ahead. My parents and nephew are at the game. I would have been there tonight in one of their seats, but I had to choose the game or the Na Koa lunch and I chose the lunch.
OK, what happened to bhf2?
28-25 Hawaii up at half time
Time to pay bills… BBL
Oops, I guess I’m a few points behind in the score. Got to put my kids to bed now…
🙂 leave it to Tsai-kos!
Praying all goes really well for you, Garret. In these times, news of success in business canl give hope to those who still struggle.
UH 25, Iowa St 22 at half, boring game…
ST- bhf2 is taking care of buisness and dealing with puter probs last I heard.
BG Kia’s dad isn’t that old, maybe his grandfather played with you
Thanks for the score, I would be watching the game too but got some work to do for my own basketball team I’m coaching. Thinking up some plays and defensive sets to use this season…
shhhh. Don’t tell al the score. 😀 🙄
Big Hilo check out the black friday sales, walmart has computers on sale…
OK, I thought he pulled a GG
Pauoa boy don’t use UH flex offense, boring, your kids will quit the team
Anybody know what’s a good camcorder to get??? I’m looking to get a camcorder to record my teams basketball games this season but have no clue what I’m supposed to be looking for as far as features go. I saw some on sale at the PX on base but don’t know what the heo is the difference…
You’re all invited to see our little school take on Punahou in a JV game Wednesday. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
SteveM could probably help you, but make sure you can get the one with the cord that can plug into a computer. That way you can edit the video.
LMAO haha no worry I like a transition style of game and got a few plays I’m brewing up for quick scoring in the half court game…
ST – where’s the game at?
Pauoa boy ask Tsai to get the brand and model princess Leila uses..if you like the quality, etc of her work, just as well as get the same model or an up dated one since hers is about a year old…
Nah, I no need all the high speed features just one basic one with good quality that I can load onto DVD’s and Youtube…I not too savvy with this kine so I had the salesman guy break it down Barney style for me but still never understand what da heo he was talking about with all the features and modes and crap… Plus I never like get juiced in buying one expensive one I dunno how for use… Anyway, if you guys get any suggestions on some good models just email me at pauoaboy31 at yahoo dot com…mahalos!
Wow I trying to listen to the BBall game and seems like Lasha “Parking Lot Launcha” is at it again bombing stupid shots…aiyah!
Hawaiian Mission Academy, on Pensacola.
A certain blog host is a coach.
My Dad is back on the blog now that we fixed his computer. After reading yesterday’s blog and today’s blog he told me: “You sure post a lot”. I’m actually posting less than normal now because we are so busy…
At least what you post is worth the read…very interesting stuff sometimes…
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel had another quote from Bess about possibly taking over the starting WR job.
I guess today I was discussing the bowl situation with the Hawaii Bowl, something I’ve been thinking about for awhile and have done some research on. I actually could post a lot more about that, but I don’t want to go into too much fine detail on the issue.
Miami’s coach talked about Bess.
Bad luck for Camerillo but I’m glad Davone Bess will get a chance to start alongside Ted Ginn Jr.
Another note about Bess. The work ethic he showed at UH (JUGS gun, etc.) has paid off at Miami–learning all the receiver spots took a lot of work and will pay off for him now!
I agree with what you said in #244. The Palm Beach Post says that there is a big gap between Bess/Ginn and the rest of Miami’s receivers. Remember, one of those receivers Bess is much better than just got a $6 mil bonus from Miami before the season!
The Palm Beach Post had another article on Bess. The PBP pointed out that Wilford is making $7 million this season and has just 1 catch this season so far!
Okay, I’m done with the Bess spam now. My kids are asleep and the basketball score is 58-58, so I can turn the TV on now!
We all know Bess is good enough to start in the NFL. I’m sure after this season he will earn himself a bigger paycheck!
I’m hoping Colt Brennan will get a chance to start soon with or without the Skins. Maybe go to the 49ers and get all his receivers there, Bess, Grice-Mullens, Hawthorne, Rivers, and add Chad Owens and Ashley Lelie too… Only in a dream though…
Here’s a satellite picture of the burn area from a couple of weeks ago.
Unfortunately, the picture is part of an article about potential flooding to the burn areas because of a storm that should hit Orange County tomorrow.
UH 60 – Iowa State 59 Chee Huu!!!!
This one’s pretty cool……….
I’m thinking of getting Aaron a Flip Mino for Christmas. He wants to make movies with his friends…
Congratulations to Coach Nash and the players! That was an amazing ending to the game. Coach Nash should be proud of the job his team did, and he should be praised for the coaching he did at the end of the game. UH had the ball with 2.6 seconds left and ran a good play, throwing the inbounds pass deep, which set up the foul. If there hadn’t been a foul, UH had options on the play and the ball already past halfcourt.
Contrast that with Iowa State just throwing the ball to a guy right next to the sideline and having him throw up a shot from beyond halfcourt. The better coaching decision resulted in a UH win…kudos to Coach Nash.
Free play link time. Please ignore my next batch of posts if you do not want the off-topic stuff. First, I’ll do 5 from Saturday.
4,300-year-old pyramid discovered in Egypt!
Silverton, Oregon elected the US’s first transgender mayor.
For 10 years in a row, they have had the “Naked Pumpkin Run” at a Colorado Mall, where at 11pm people run around the Mall naked with a pumpkin on their head. This year the police caught 12 of the runners and arrested them, the first time they have made arrests, and the runners will have to register as sex offenders if they are convicted of indecent exposure!
Man with NO ARMS stole a TV in broad daylight in Germany. Two accomplices clamped the TV to his body before they walked out of the store, and apparently nobody noticed anything!
It is interesting to me that people earning over $250k would be taxed more under Obama’s plan than McCain’s plan, yet 52% of them voted for Obama!
Now 5 for Sunday.
Awesome breakthrough for a new source of green energy…a fungus actually can make fuel! This could potentially by the cleanest source of biofuel and the fungus could potentially be grown in factories and other places instead of just at farms.
13-year-old student in Florida was arrested for farting in school.
So what do you guys think of the Bull Chit System standings? Bama is obvious at numero uno but who do you guys think should be Numero Dos? The candidates are Oklahoma, Florida, and Texas…with USC being a longshot! I think if Texas beats Oklahoma they go or vice versa. Same if Florida beats Alabama in the SEC title game or vice versa they go. USC will need these guys to get upset to make it. Meaning Bama would have to lose to Auburn and Florida. Florida would have to lose to Florida State. Texas A & M would have to beat Texas. But then Texas would have to beat Oklahoma. This confusion is why the stupid BCS has to go…
Even though the women in this study washed their hands more often, women had significantly more types of bacteria on their hands than men.
It is CRAZY to me that this teacher faced 40 years in prison because spyware on the school computer (not her personal computer, a school computer that lots of people had access to) popped up porn ads! Only the aid of some tech groups were able to show that the teacher was not at fault. Unfortunately for her, the state refuses to let her get her teaching credential back.
The Army has created a video game unit and will invest $50 mil over 5 years on games and gaming systems designed to prepare soldiers for combat.
Free play links pau.
Oops I meant Oklahoma State beat Oklahoma sorry confused myself…
Texas already beat Oklahoma on a neutral field–Dallas is halfway between Austin and Norman (where both schools are) and each school had half the stadium for their fans. Texas won by 10 points. Texas and Oklahoma won’t play again since they are in the same division, so only one of them could be in the Big 12 title game.
Florida and Alabama will play each other in the SEC title game unless they are upset before then, so the one of them that runs the table will have earned their title shot.
#266 Army, always playing games sheesh…haha
duffer – thanks, I heard of those flips, they look like cameras rather than camcorders…how much those things run nowadays???
I know sorry I corrected myself I meant to say Oklahoma State beat Oklahoma…
This is how things stand in the Big 12. I expect either Texas or Oklahoma will be in the national title game, probably Oklahoma even though Texas beat them on a neutral field–Oklahoma has NOT been nearly as good away from home (Texas won 3 out of 4, Texas Tech won the last 2 away from Oklahoma).
If Oklahoma loses to Oklahoma State, Texas Tech will be in the Big 12 title game. I cannot imagine Texas Tech making the national title game, so USC would have a chance in that scenario.
If Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State, then Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma will be in a tie for the Big 12 South title. The tiebreaker will be whoever has the highest BCS ranking! Right now Texas is #2 and Oklahoma is #3, but Oklahoma will get more computer points from beating Oklahoma State than Texas will get from beating Texas A&M. So, Oklahoma will be in the Big 12 title game unless the voters remember that Texas beat them on a neutral field.
You gotta pray for all the BCS leaders to lose another game and for Boise to go undefeated. That way the argument for a playoff or the dispensing of the entire BCS system is stronger than every. This is the third year in a row that a non-BCS team has qualified as a bowl contender. That means there is greater parity in the field of play and it’s time open the NC doors wider.
A little over $200 for the “deluxe” model.
If Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma, then Texas Tech goes to the Big 12 title game…so, as long as USC can stay above Texas Tech in the BCS rankings, they would go to the national title game!
Anyway, time to TAP OUT…if was me I’d say let Utah or Boise State go for the National Championship if either can run the table. Alabama may be undefeated still but I think Florida is rolling right now and might pull the upset in the SEC title game!
If Oregon beats Oregon State, then that opens up a spot in the BCS bowls that BSU might take. Cheer for Oregon!
Gunfunnit Ralph! Calling me old! So what if you right #%@* Just wait, Ralph, if I no forget by this Sat, I going get you yet!!!
duffer, mahalos not bad the price…
The fungus for fuel … that’s the real magic mushrooms, eh? That sounds exciting, but we still gotta deal with the fossil fuel type emissions, I bet? Better emissions than no fuel, though.
That 4000 y/o pyramid. That’s kind of mind boggling. Isn’t that before the first self-recorded history of man? Before writing? Pre-petroglyphs?
The fungus for fuel thing is amazing, especially because growing the fungus in some areas like factories could actually have the fungus *absorb* pollution while it is growing fuel! Growing our fuel while cleaning up the environment?
The pyramid is even crazier because they believe it was for a Queen. That type of stuff just doesn’t show up every day!
For me I dunno why but I’d like to see Florida vs. USC in the National Championship game. Floridas O versus USC’s D…
At least at WHS they taught me to count beyond 20 with my toes and fingers. Some schools get stuck at 20. I figured it out and his dad could have manufactured Aaron at around 40. Some of my friends from the PI told me that their grandpa’s still making babies at double that age. I did ask them to send me some of that water that they drink…must be the water, huh?
I don’t think Oklahoma will play texas again this season…Okies play Oklahoma state….all in the south division..numero ono in south between Texas and Oklahoma will play Missouri of the North for the big 12 conference championship, that is if OK beat Ok State and Texas beats Tex AM
I think that the SEC and Big 12 deserve 2 spots in the BCS this year. I do *not* think that the Pac-10 deserves two spots in a year where two non-BCS teams deserve their spots. Oregon State will have won the conference if they beat Oregon…but their early season struggles shouldn’t give them a spot over BSU!
Even worse, the Rose Bowl will have the Pac-10 and Big 10 champions. Penn State already blew out Oregon State…why schedule a rerun?
If Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma (it is possible, and Oklahoma has beaten them fairly recently), then I think that USC has a good chance of making it to the national title game. But it would be a shame for a team to not win their conference title to get to play for the national title.
I’m still waiting for the fuel cells that turn hydrogen into electricity to power the car and the only by-product is h2o. And when you get home after work, you plug the car into the home grid to power the house! Even better, use renewable energy to produce the hydrogen.
Update on Tepa. It doesn’t sound that encouraging, and I wouldn’t put him in the solid commit category…
Fun time over…see ya again tomorrow!
They actually have the hydrogen fuel cell cars available now, with some limited test cars in use on Southern California roads. The unfortunate thing is that the process to generate the hydrogen causes much more pollution than a regular gas-powered car would generate! They will hopefully improve that soon.
okay jason……no forget a bachelor’s is yesterday’s high school diploma. work towards no less than a master’s. plus, that is two more years of free lunch.
wafan…..that saying was said to me as a youngster over and again. i would have had more of those to share, but, the old man died at a young age.
Congratulations to the men’s B-Ball team & Coach Nash, et al. They certainly looked better tonight. They are progressing.
Great company & football info at the Na Koa lunch today. I’m still learning the details & it’s great to have a coach pointing out plays & what the guys are doing on the field. Yumm-o poke! Finally got to say Hey to ST & RK. Maybe I’ll go tomorrow night!
At a lot of Universities, a Masters’ degree takes just one year. I don’t know if UH offers all of the classes each year to make it possible to finish in just one year…but the majority of Universities allow it.
i read that earlier today too. its okay if he has a change of heart. that might make room for a talia crichton for example or someone who really wants to be here.
eh, things happen for a reason.
At Stanford, you need 15 classes (if they are the standard 3 credits) to get an MS degree. On the quarter system that is 4 classes each regular quarter and 3 in the summer quarter. Or, you can be crazy like me and decide sleep is overrated so you take 7 classes (just about half the degree!) in one quarter.
Great poster of Bess. They ought to send one to his Mom in Oakland.
Garret, we knew Davone would excel; now his coach is seeing it. Thanks for finding the quotes.
Tepa has been giving hints for awhile that he’s not solid with his UH commit. The positive thing is that Mac and the rest of the coaches have had a LOT of success at recruiting top defensive players, so they will get someone else who wants to be a Warrior. If Tepa waits around too long, he might not have a spot left with the Warriors. However, he might be special enough that they leave one scholarship open for him…
I agree that we knew that Davone would excel. He already established himself as a valuable slot receiver and a punt returner, which is what I had hoped would happen this season. If Davone does well in their final regular season games and in the playoffs as a starting receiver, his future contract value will go WAY up.
All 3 finalists for the Davey O’Brien Award (nation’s top quarterback) were from the Big 12 (McCoy, Harrell, Bradford).
Texas is favored by 33.5 points against Texas A&M. I remember when that was the big rivalry game and Oklahoma wasn’t as big of a deal to Texas…it is just sad to see how bad Texas A&M is now.
A few more free play links and I need to get off the blog…these are from today.

Free play links pau. I caught up for the 3 days I didn’t post any…I figured I had to stop slacking on it once ST called me “Mr. Free Play”.
Great Tsaiko day today.
Na Koa lunch was excellent! Terrific company and fuud.
Tony Tuioti’s presentation was great. Bulla, you and the Beast would have appreciated his former-DL perspectives 😉
Then an awesome buffet meal at Thelma’s with the family (all of ’em! Yay!) and LizK and Kekoa.
Sorry al, but this time I know we held the upper hand on comparative dinner menus.
Congrats to the MBB team on a close victory!
i have been reading the blogs. is the stephen tsai surprise already upon us?
is there something else?
Brennan to Bess in the NFL. That is a dream I can share with Paula Boy!
Made it home ok. Nitey Nite!
Oh goodie. One of my favorite movies is on – Hunt for Red October. “Andrei, you’ve lost ANOTHER sub?” hehehehe 😀
Garret you can easily get tapeworms by eating medium to rare steaks…..they came with the beef and not necessary from contaminated hands….
Pauoa Boy — my non-professional buying strategy for a digital camcorder is simple: choose the least expensive one and have a knowledgable sales rep compare it to the next in line. Repeat. When I have no idea what they are saying, I drop one or two models down and punt 🙂
I have seen and used the FLIP camera. Fits in a shirt pocket and inexpensive (under $150 I think). Easy for a elementary school student to use and connect to a computer via USB. BUT– limited zoom, no focus, sensitive to light colors (flourescent vs. daylight), limited record time. Sound pickup is very weak. I am positive one should not try to record sports on it. Very good for casual situations, small karaoke rooms, etc. 🙂
Ho-boy…I usually order my steak medium-rare….
thanks SteveM now I won’t buy one for my daughter- Christmas and her birthday within a few months…
also don’t eat tripe pope, got to cooked it….potential for lots of worm eggs just waiting for the right environment to hatch and become worms in your body
I didn’t realize that. Wow, Lori likes her meat rare…
Garret — your last cruise was 5 days so comparing to 8 Tsaiko-Gates is close 🙂 A better comparison might be eating 2 Camellia buffets and a midnight snack every day 😛 …and don’t forget the desserts.
Glad you are home safe & sound. Have fun at the game this Saturday. Eat some fuud for me!
taenia saginata is the type of beef tapeworm you acquire by eating undercooked beef from infected cattle…grows up to 20 meters. the worm cyst is found in the infected beef, eat it, it develops into a worm in your body…
#316 tripe poke
Ralph – ewwwwww. No tripe for me. Still like my steak red, tho. I could stand to lose a few pounds. 😀
you guys do know that ralph eats his meat well done……

Ralph — if I were looking for a video camera along the lines of the FLIP (rather than a camcorder), I would look at digital cameras in the $150-$250 price range (todays price). I am impressed by the small digital camera LizKauai used to record the videos she took at the karaoke calls and blog party. Good picture and sound and recording on common memory cards. Maybe Liz can tell us the make/model (I forgot).
OK, the free world has been saved (movie pau). hehehe.
Nitey nite. Hasta manana.
PB, SteveM, Duffer, Ronnie . . .
Our school has a couple of those FLIP’s (hey, no pun intended). I would never buy one for my program or for myself. They are terrible!
The software is difficult to install, the sound is bad, fixed focus, minimal zoom, and cannot edit.
Worse, the video can only be played on the computer that has the software. You can plug the FLIP directly into a TV or VCR, though. But, if your intention is to shoot video and then distribute copies it probably will not work for you.
I agree with SteveM. Get a point-and-shoot handheld digital camera with video capability. Just make sure you have a 2+ gig chip.
The D-SLR’s I use in my photography classes have the ability to shoot video.
Great day everyone!
This if going to be a good one if we allow it to be!!!
Yesterday at this time it was 26. Today it is 35.
How could any recruit not want to play in Hawai’i?!?!
Bitter cold or warmth. Clouds or clear blue skies. Parkas or bikinis.
Hmmmm. Seems pretty simple to me!
“• Get Davone Bess on your radar, he’s been progressing nicely and Greg Camarillo, sadly, is out for the season. If you can run reliable routes, Chad Pennington will find you.”
If you can get the Yahoo fantasy football writers excited, you have arrived. With the Dolphins primed for a playoff run, Bess could turn into a household name before our very eyes.
*banging the gong loudly*
GOOD MORNING TSAI-KOS! WAAAAAAKE UUUUUUPPPP!!!
Where is everyone on this beautiful morning? It’s Tuesday! 2 more days to Thanksgiving.
IS IT SATURDAY YET??!! 😀 😀 😀
SteveM- 2 year old Casio digital camera.
There are a lot of good ones out there now- but I would get a real video camera if I were recording important things. My little one is handy for traveling memoirs.
Have a GREAT DAY, Everyone
Jm$2.25 ~ I got your ‘gong’ girl. Keep making all that fricken noise and see what surprise I’ll have Santa put under yourtree! Sheesh!
