It’s not over …

KHON sports director Rob DeMello figured it out. UH media relations director Derek Inouchi confirmed it.

Yes, if Hawaii, San Jose State and UNLV all win this coming weekend, Hawaii would win the West Division and play in the Mountain West Conference’s championship game.

Not sure how it computes. (When they were explaining it to me, I had that same blank stare I had during a year of calculus.) But they’re both smart guys, and it appears the drama extends another week.

How big were the smiles on the parent’s faces for senior night?
Down on the field their smiles lit up the stadium. This is part of the game as well.

I had a chance to speak with Frank Lloyd Sr. (parent of Jr. #70). He is right; playing for UH and getting your education is a great experience.

Who is the head coach right now? Who are the other coaches? Who are the players?
That is what we should keep in mind until the end of the season and keep up the support for the 2014 UH Football Program .

ST, wow! What an unbelievable, incredible scenario!
    Hope that it comes true.

Now that we are both retired, hubby watches a lot of sports on TV.
He likes to explain the ins and outs of the NFL and NBA.
It’s like osmosis — I absorb all of this information whether I want to or not.

Congrats to the seniors and warrior FB team!

Looks like we are chasing championships! Hahaha!!!!

    Stranger things have happened.

  6. Markazulu November 24, 2014 8:34 am

San Jose plays San Diego st
    Unlv plays Nevada
    Hope the impossible happens πŸ™‚
But it’s all for not IF Hawaii doesn’t beat fresno.

  7. Andyuhfan November 24, 2014 8:39 am

Actually even if san diego state loses this weekend , they will b 4 and 4 and they beat us, so they would go to the champoinship …..right????

  8. Former UH Athlete November 24, 2014 8:45 am

Too bad the schedule worked out that SDSU and Nevada get the weakest MWC opponents this week. Chances are definitely slim on the things UH cannot control.

Lets hope for UNLV to get themselves up for their rivalry game. I think the rivalry game is the one thing that keeps UNLV from quitting on Hauck.

I don’t have much hope for SJSU at SDSU.

  9. ponojr November 24, 2014 8:48 am

Let’s hope Decker starts for UNLV vs. Nevada!

  10. Former UH Athlete November 24, 2014 8:48 am

Glad to see there’s still a chance though… It’ll keep the players focused on the task at hand.

  11. NotNasti November 24, 2014 8:53 am

Andyuhfan: Actually, for some confusing reason, in the case of a tie between more than two teams, head-to-head competition is not conclusive in determining the champion. Someone posted the rules yesterday and after reading it, I had the same blank stare that ST had. BUT, UNLV will not beat Nevada, and SJSU will not beat SDSU.

  12. Former UH Athlete November 24, 2014 8:54 am

    7.. .THat’s where it gets confusing…

If UH, SDSU and Fresno end up in 3-way tie at 4-4… Per MW tie-breaker for 3 way tie or more:
1st Tie-Breaker is win% vs tied teams: Everybody is 1-1 vs each other.
2nd Tie Breaker is win% vs MWC West Division: Fresno & UH would be 3-2, SDSU 2-3…(SDSU eliminated)

Once SDSU is eliminated via West Division record, it’s back to the 2-team tie-breakers which starts with head-to-head record. UH would have that over Fresno if UH, Fresno, and SDSU tie at 4-4.

    Hope that helps…

  13. Former UH Athlete November 24, 2014 8:56 am

11.. Can’t use head to head in 3 way tie-breakers. Since SDSU beat UH, UH would have to beat Fresno, and Fresno beat SDSU earlier… You’d be running in circles using head to head as a tie breaker.

  14. Former UH Athlete November 24, 2014 9:02 am

    If:
    A defeats B;
    B defeats C; and,
    C defeats A…

Head2Head doesn’t work if A, B, and C play each other exactly once. If they play each other more than once (like NFL Division rivals, or College Basketball Conference rivals), then Head2Head works as a tie breaker for 3-way ties or more.

  15. kakaako kid November 24, 2014 9:08 am

I am going to guess the championship tie breaker comes down to the record on their side (mountain) of the MWC. Anyway, say UH beats Fresno, then wins the MWC Championship game, would they then be bowl eligible?

  16. Tempmanoa November 24, 2014 9:09 am

From my reading of the analysis, it is correct. if all three underdogs– San Jose, UNLV, and Hawaii all win in the last game, we win the tie breaker and play in the championship game. This appears to be an unintended consequence of the way the tie=breaker rules work– the tie-braker rules differ between two and three team ties. So the scenario works with a three team tie-breaker that eliminates the third team first, then goes to a tie breaker for the remaining two teams per the conference rule. The tie breaker would come down to us and San Diego State, and the tie breaker rule is best record in the division and if we beat Fresno, we end up with a division record of 3-2 while SDSU is 2-3 assuming they lose to San Jose State (note how the rule ignores the fact that head to head SDSU beat us). Every now and then these tie breaker rules cause head scratchers. But it comes down to do you take record in division (the rule) or do you override that with head to head like a lot of tie breakers do?

  26. SteveM November 24, 2014 9:46 am

    Good morning everyone!

My reaction: Let me get this straight… if the 3 teams in the bottom of the West standings all knock off their opponents in the upper half of the standings this week, then UH is the West champs…. 😯
…hey, get chance! (ala “Angels in the Outfield”)

  27. NotNasti November 24, 2014 9:47 am

SteveM: Now that’s what you call a long shot.

  28. HawaiiMongoose November 24, 2014 9:57 am

Even though it’s a huge longshot, it’s nice to still have something to play for on the last weekend of the season.

  29. Stephen Tsai November 24, 2014 10:03 am

As I understand it β€” OK, I don’t understand it, I’m just parroting what smarter people tell me β€” the head-to-head won’t be a factor in the first tie-breaker, but then in the second, SDSU would be eliminated, and then the tie-breaker is used, in which case UH would have the edge over Fresno State.
    I think.
Let’s get on to the more important topic. Thanksgiving in Fresno? Really?

  30. Stephen Tsai November 24, 2014 10:04 am

    Oh, wait. Table Mountain Casino.
OK, Thanksgiving in Fresno isn’t so bad, especially at a Native American casino.

  31. Former UH Athlete November 24, 2014 10:05 am

24… No problem. I can probably help all the way up to college level calculus. That’s when I ran into issues with my professor over methods of doing derivatives.

    Let (a) = UH
Let (b) = Mtn Division Champion
    Let X = (a) defeats Fresno
Let Y = blah blah blah

    If X + Y + Z = Hooray!,
    Then [(a)+17] + (b) = 60

  32. gigi-hawaii November 24, 2014 10:08 am

    ST,
I lived in California for 6 months in 1968 after graduating from UH, but never made it to Fresno. Wonder what it’s like.

As for Thanksgiving, roast turkey is the same everywhere. I am celebrating the holiday in Kahaluu.

  33. Tanman November 24, 2014 10:11 am

No 7, Former UH Athlete… Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I was trying to figure that our myself, came close but your explanation is much clearer!!

    Let’s go Spartans!!
    Let’s go Rebels!!
    Let’s go Bows!!

  34. Former UH Athlete November 24, 2014 10:15 am

Just too bad UH didn’t get Fresno earlier in the year back when they were a bumbling mess of an offense. Now that they have had the whole season to work on things, their offense is playing better.

The thing to key on is when the Fresno Oline tries to cut block, that tips off that a quick horizontal throw/screen is on. The DEs Yap & Kennedy need to read this and as soon as they feel the line going for cut blocks, they need to take a step back and get their hands in the passing lanes.

  35. SteveM November 24, 2014 10:24 am

I just saw a Kaleo photograph from the end zone showing the UNLV defender with his arm around Kemp as leapt for the ball–which was shown to be a few feet away yet. Great shot! In watching the accompanying video, it panned left during the initial celebration and there was a flag on the ground. So it would have been a pass interference penalty if not a touchdown? In any event, it was a great catch!

    Guud Morning Tsaikos…bootiful day.

kind of wet but good for the garden…no need water today.

Great night for the seniors but why did the stadium people kick everybody out!?!!??
People were there to greet the players and the stadium was kicking people out!
Is Senior Night supposed to be like this? So much for hyping Senior Night. The public and the fans deserve better. The one night fans are able to show their Aloha and they weren’t allowed to. So what if you need to clean the place up by a certain time? If the game went into two or three overtimes you still need to clean up later than normal. Planning should have been in place to take into account the Senior Night festivities.

Those going to the Na Koa luncheon today, please try and get the Rainbow Dancers to give Coach Chow a dance lesson! He was so happy for the kids he was trying to dance with them. Well, I thought he was dancing. Rob Demello give “it” a name….he called it the “Norm”. It was great to see Coach Chow happy for a change.

ST….are the casinos open? I thought the Gaming Commission closed down the Indian casinos because they were fighting over money. Actually turned violent this past week.
Anyhoo, safe travels to the Warriors and those who travel. Mainland weather is not to nice lately.

ST got an update for you

  44. cocobean November 24, 2014 12:08 pm

    What??? Still get chance?

It’ll be interesting to see if the confidence the team has gained from the last two wins
carries over to the FSU game. It has been said over and over Chow’s teams just don’t know HOW to win, maybe now they know.

  45. Tempmanoa November 24, 2014 12:12 pm

Here is how I make it simple for myself. If we win, AND San Jose State wins, AND UNLV wins, then we will have three teams tied at 3-2 in the conference. Ourselves, Fresno, and SDSU. However, under the tiebreaker rule for more than two teams tied, the tiebreaker is best record in the DIVISION. Division record eliminaes SDSU because its record in the division is 2-3, while we and Fresno are 3-2. This means its down to us and Fresno tied at 3-2 and the two team tie breaker rule is in effect and we beat Fresno head to head, so we are DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!

Just remember we need to win, and San Jose and UNLV need to win. Unfortunately we, SJSU, and UNLV are all underdogs. There is an example of such a thing happening though. The year that Urban Meyer took Utah to a BCS bowl, there was a list of very improbable wins that had to occur for Utah to be selected, so all the sports writers said it was over for Urban and Utah– but the underdogs won, and the rest is history.

  46. Buffoman November 24, 2014 12:31 pm

In assessing the role of the three underdogs this week in the MWC, it would have to be that each would have to play a new flawless game and the collective opponents would have to lose the turnover battle, be on the wrong side of all controversial calls and play their worse game this season.

That would be quite difficult for such bad/good karma to descend on the participants. Would be fun to see, but quite improbable. Nonetheless, hoping for the best for the three underdogs.

  47. Jason November 24, 2014 12:33 pm

My ears sure are itching. Did someone request a math teacher? πŸ˜‰

    (Back to lurking.)

  48. Tanman November 24, 2014 1:18 pm

I was reading the Las Vegas websites and it sound like:

    1) UNLV coach was unhappy about the two penalties on them after they’ve scored their go ahead touchdown close to the end of the game. The two penalties allowed Hawaii to get the ball at UNLV’s 42. I was feeling sorry for UH at that time and did not pay close attention and not sure what UNLV did to get the two penalties. Can anyone fill me in?

    2) Overall UNLV coaches, players and fans were unhappy about the clock. The coach actually use the video to time the incomplete pass before Kemp’s game winning touchdown and claimed that there is no way that play took less than 4 seconds. Was there 5 seconds on the clock at the time? Did we actually ran out of time? Did the clock operator stop the clock at 1 sec just because…?

    3) I was wondering why UH did not get a penalty after the game winning touchdown for excessive celebration when players and fans were all over the field. I was worrying that the referees may deny the touchdown… Isn’t the NCAA has a recent rule which allows them to deny TD due to excessive celebration?

    Overall, I am glad we’ve won…

  49. Ipu Man November 24, 2014 1:22 pm

    NorthShoreFan,#40, good point:
“why did the stadium people kick everybody out!?!!??”
If true, the athletic dept should sue!
    The glove fits.
The Stadium Authority is not good for UH football.

  50. st. anthony trojan November 24, 2014 1:37 pm

ipu man… when u not have a ‘winning’ season..them buggas want to clean up n go home early…maybe…

seems like they not savor the win like most fans did….

    n not fair to the seniors….. n especially their family n friends….

as 4 Hauck… when handed a bunch of grapes… you can make a wine or candy..or can add vinegar n make a ‘sour’ grapes…guess he chose the later…

  51. bowwar November 24, 2014 1:42 pm

I stayed at the game till the Alma Mater was played before leaving…Under the Mack years, there was a large celebration after the game to recognize the Seniors and the crowd/families were allowed to stay around for the festivities and give leis, etc. It troubles me that the Stadium folks chased people out…

  52. Derek November 24, 2014 1:45 pm

Still chasing championships? Remote chance, but still a mathematical possibility. But, I doesn’t make a lot of sense. Say all of this happens (San Jose St., UNLV, and Hawaii), and we make it to the championship game. Our record going in is 5-8. Win it and be MWC champs then we’d be 6-8. Still a losing overall record and the last I checked we would still NOT be bowl eligible. Or am I wrong? Can a conference championship with a losing record go to a bowl game? Somebody’s got a lot of spaining to do. I was under the impression that a team has to have at least a .500 overall record, i.e. 6-6, or a winning record or better, i.e. 7-6 or better to be considered for a bowl game. Well, if San Diego State beats San Jose St. in the early game everything is a moot point.

  53. Shoko November 24, 2014 1:57 pm

Would love to see Hawaii in the conference championship play out. Chow would get his extension and a bonus which would only further infuriate the fan base…lol.

stadium authority is not very ‘user’ friendly…
they make tailgate very difficult for fans to really enjoy…

take no hibachi n open flames….my guess it domes from the fire marshall…maybe sum one there can call n confirm…n if not.. then is the SA…THAT IS MAKINFG STUPID RULES…

why not just require that all those with open flames..must have a Fire Extinguisher present….n in working condition with up-to-date inspection tag…n if so.. if there are 50 people with Fire Extinguisher…there… should be able to put ne flames that may get out of control…

Hey BJ…YOU LISTENING…why not have a company there to inspect first game.. for free.. n give them free admission…that is called CRM….sumthing that os woefully lacking up there at UHAD….

  56. SC November 24, 2014 2:03 pm

There are lots of “if” concerning UH’s possibility of winning the West division of the MW. Good rhetoric but highly unlikely. UH will lose to Fresno State.

  57. cappie the dog November 24, 2014 2:08 pm

If you’re under .500, you shouldn’t be playing in a bowl, period.

That’s not to say I won’t be rooting for Hawaii to win their division.

That game-winning TD has “team of destiny” written all over it.

Here’s a crazy thought: If Hawaii wins their division and wins their championship game, doesn’t that make Norm Chow a candidate for Coach of the Year?

  58. Dan-O November 24, 2014 2:15 pm

There were two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties after the last UNLV touchdown. One penalty was for the excessive celebration in the end zone. The second penalty was on #18, for leaving the sideline without his helmet. If you watch the replay…..you’ll see him in the celebration pile, WITHOUT a helmet on.

UH had the choice of either taking both penalties on the extra point try….and moving the try back 30 yards, or taking one 15 penalty on the try, and one on the kick-off, or taking both on the kick-off.

  59. A-House November 24, 2014 2:25 pm

perhaps the “excessive celebration” differential was the game was still in progress for the UNLV celebration and the game was over for UH celebration.

how can the ref call a penalty AFTER THE GAME IS OVER?????????

by “rule” UH had to attempt the extra point and grounding the ball was the best option.

  60. kakaako kid November 24, 2014 2:43 pm

So let us say all the good stuff happens and UH is somehow allowed to get a waiver and go to the Hawaii Bowl as MWC Champs. The coaches could then get bonuses, right? As John Veneri likes to sing, “I’m lovin’ it.”

  61. papajoe2 November 24, 2014 2:52 pm

Gigi #32. A college coach, from another sport, told me about Fresno. Stretch your right arm up as high as you can with your palms facing the ground. That’s heaven. Now with your left hand down at your side, face your palm upwards. That’s hell. Fresno is below that. Liquor stores on every corner and drunks passed out on the sidewalks at all times of the day or night. That was a while ago. I hope they cleaned it up.

  62. papajoe2 November 24, 2014 2:55 pm

NCAA basketball tournament had a few teams with losing records going to the dance.

  63. papajoe2 November 24, 2014 2:59 pm

A few years ago, I think it was a Bob Wagner coached team, something miracleous happened on the last day of the regular season which made Hawaii the champions of the WAC. Can happen again. Cheech said it, “You’ll never know man. You’ll never know.”

  64. st. anthony trojan November 24, 2014 3:02 pm

Being a former official…i know for sure you can penalize before the game…as many have done…

Not so sure after the game…been a very long time ago…rules change….but blatant ‘infractions’ will get a look at from the conference…but don’t know if can change the score…don’t think it has ever been done..

  65. st. anthony trojan November 24, 2014 3:09 pm

AND BY RULE..THEY STILL HAVE TO KICK…A EXTRA POINT…

So if chow was to kick n did..n was blocked…does the return from that kick (2 points) count or not…since…excessive celebration was going on…n should it not be marched off at extra point try ????…

  66. Old School Dave November 24, 2014 3:19 pm

  71. hossana November 24, 2014 4:02 pm

To all you naysayers: if you watched the Rainbow warriors play this season with a never say die attitude, you would know that they have the greatest respect for Coach Chow and many of you commented that nobody wants to come here when if you read in the newspaper last week about the many transfers from other schools of players transferring in then you know that these players want to play for Chow and they have publicly commented on that. Also, go and talk to a few of the players and they will all tell you how much they like playing for Chow and how much respect he commends from then and all you have to do is look how these players played in every game…never giving up to the bitter end…..all you naysays should just tape your mouth and stop talking about that loser, June Jones, being the HC in the future etc….SMU was happy he left and it only shows that he is a quitter. It takes time to build a program and I can see this football program getting better in the future despite all the stupid pessimism expressed in these blogs or comment sections.

Conversation between inhabitants of Rome when the Vandals were outside the city walls, waiting to sack Rome.

Speaker 1: “Promethus, if (1) the Vandals throw down their weapons (2) go home immediately (3) never to return and (4) if no other Germanic tribes come here to ransack Rome ever again, then we should be ok. We win. Rome stands. Rome will live, forever.”

Speaker 2: “Commodus, you are right, my friend. We get chance! Go bows!!”

Reading today’s blog topic and thinking about the hope it raises for the chorus reminds me of the conquered inhabitants of Rome.

Wow #71 June Jones a loser. 12-1 Sugar bowl. 7,8 players who had a chance to play at the next level.

  81. warriorfan2 November 24, 2014 6:23 pm

    Great win this past Sat
A great way to send the Seniors out.
Unfortunately, There was a sad chapter written.
Two of the Seniors, that were not hurt and eligible to play, put five years into the program, but were not good enough to play one down in front of their family and fans. Not one down They are the first two seniors that have not been allowed to enter the game for 15 years. Those two players are Frank Loyd Jr and David Lefotu. Not one down. So sad. Here we were in a mean less game that was gear to recognize our senior and these two young men have worked their butts off and not one down.
So much for the current coaching staff caring about their Players and the contributions they made to the program. SO SAD Way to go Coach

  82. Derek November 24, 2014 6:30 pm

Get chance. Here’s how. San Jose St. beat San Diego St. the last time in San Diego. San Jose St. beat Wyoming in Wyoming. Wyoming beatFresno St. in Fresno badly. Fresno St. beat San Diego St. at home, so San Jose St. can win in San Diego.

UNLV beat Fresno St. in Las Vegas. Fresno St. beat Nevada in Fresno. So, it’s possible for UNLV to beat Nevada in Las Vegas.

Hawaii beat Wyoming in Hawaii. Wyoming beat Fresno 45-17 in Fresno. So, it’s logical that Hawaii has a fighting chance to beat Fresno St. in Fresno.

The difference in all the 3 games will be the turnover battle, and execution. Anybody can win if you give yourself a chance. Gotta believe, Hawaii!!!

Can’t wait for the game I’m so excited

  84. st. anthony trojan November 24, 2014 6:39 pm

them krauts are a nasty bunch…

    RE: #75
Oltimer808 — I am waiting for ST to write the Hawaii chapter of JJ’s biography. What was the real inside story? Clueless Athletic Director? No upgraded facilities? Broken locker room and no soap? Did he leave for the $MU millions challenge and/or to shake things up to effect change in Hawaii? Whatever the story, I think JJ would have been fired if he didn’t get UH back to a BCS bowl in a year or three… the fans not satisfied with having to go the same-o same-o Hawaii Bowl every year…

  86. A-House November 24, 2014 7:01 pm

    SteveM:

UH cannot qualify for the Hawaii Bowl the past 4 or 5 years

perhaps, the fans would be happy even for the Hawaii Bowl – just as long as UH does not get blown out by a Tulsa

  87. 808 November 24, 2014 7:21 pm

When UH was 2-8, I thought there should have been a change at HC. However, I didn’t want June Jones back. He quit on his team at SMU. If he is faced with a similar situation again, he will quit on his next team. He did great in Hawaii. But, that’s in the past.

It looks like NC will be back again next year. Let’s make it a 3-0 winning streak. Go Warrior’s.

  88. Tempmanoa November 24, 2014 7:32 pm

In 2011, Hawaii lost to Fresno State in a close game 24-21. Next year 2012, Fresno hires a new coach and we hire Norm Chow, and Fresno blows us out 45-10 (wins the MWC title and comes to the Hawaii bowl). That same year JJ brings SMU to the Hawaii bowl and they blow out Fresno 43-10. More than one lesson of history there.

  89. Marleysdad November 24, 2014 7:43 pm

    Thanks for the link oldtimer808.

  90. Marleysdad November 24, 2014 7:47 pm

Warriorfan2, although Chow should have made sure all the seniors played, I place all the blame on Naole for those 2 not playing. He is the one that subs the OL players in & out.

  91. st. anthony trojan November 24, 2014 7:49 pm

bb bows lost again.. now they go florida..what a murderous schedule…
that is a very long n tiring trip…

  92. cocobean November 24, 2014 8:14 pm

Fei J. Get chance is a fact. Nothing wrong in hoping that happens. When UNLV scored their last TD with 15 secs left I told my brother let’s go. I was thinking the Bows had no chance at that point. I didn’t know about the 2 unsporty calls and kickoff would be from the 10. I found out when I started the car and BC was saying there’s 5 secs left, ball on the UNLV 20, time for 1 more play.

I was thinking get chance. When the pass was incomplt I thought game over. To everyone’s surprise still had 1 more sec left. Again I thought get chance. The rest is history.

Most know the scenario for the Bows getting into the MWC champ game is very unlikely but undeniably still get chance. Then only thing the Bows can do is take care of their part and let the other two parts play out.

Unless you have a crystal ball and already know the future the only thing you can say for sure is probably not happening but you know in your heart still get chance.

  93. papajoe2 November 24, 2014 8:14 pm

    Did Pedroza play?

  94. papajoe2 November 24, 2014 8:19 pm

Told my friend that while I was on the mainland, I bought lottery tickets. His son laughed and said what are the odds of winning? My friend interjected “your odds are 0 if y0u don’t play.” We still get chance? Gotta take it.

  95. kev-1 November 24, 2014 9:26 pm

papajoe2 … I was also wondering about Pedroza. I don’t recall seeing him play, but did see him suited up on the sidelines. He didn’t show a stat line either after the game.

I don’t recall anything about an injury, so I wonder if it has to do with performance. Inquiring minds would like to know.

  96. champ November 24, 2014 10:05 pm

Wake up everybody! Not going to happen! Fire everybody and start allover. Fire Stadium authority too! Come on IGE, UH needs help. Would not have too much problems is they could operate the Stadium! Too many people making a profit from UH and not UH. Whats the DEAL!! Jon Burns is turning over in his grave I tell you!! Maybe we should allow people to donate to UH athletics in lieu of state taxes. EHHH! $2 from state tax payers from A thru L in odd years and M thru Z in the even years might help and make it madantory. Lets be creative. Plus, like I said before, raise the student activities fee and if they dont like it they can go to HPU, CHAMINADE, HEALD COLLEGE, PHOENIX UNIVERSITY, HAWAII HILO OR SOME EL CHEAPO mainland college. Whats the big deal! I used to pay 47 cents a gallon for Custom Supreme gas and now I pay $3.7something for some lousy supreme that has corn in it. GEE WHIZ!!!

  97. Fei Jai November 24, 2014 10:14 pm

    @91

Bean. Well said. A pleasant fiction – that UH under norm get chance to be MWC champion – is much more appealing this time of year and more palatable for the diehards than the alternative.

  98. kev-1 November 24, 2014 10:24 pm

Could someone please explain the MWC scenario again please? I missed it the first 75 times people explained it here today.

  99. jjay November 24, 2014 10:58 pm

aint going to happen, Tsai, gimmie a break. UNLV will not win the rest of season, and Fresno unfortunately is better than UH, and it is at the Dog Pound.Say Aloha to Norm. three years is enough , 8 wins in 3 years is totally unacceptable.

  100. Tempmanoa November 24, 2014 11:00 pm

Kev1, Here it is (corrected version): If Hawaii beats FSU, then Hawaii is 4-4 in the conference, Fresno will also be 4-4 in the conference after their loss to us, and if SJSU beats SDSU, then SDSU will be 4-4 in the conference. If UNLV beats Nevada, then Nevada is eliminated at 3-5 in the conference. So there is a three way tie Hawaii, Fresno, and San Diego State all at 4-4. The tie breaker rules eliminate one or more teams until only two teams are tied starting first with winning percentage among the three tied teams, but we are still tied under this rule, then it goes to winning percentage in the Division and we are 3-2, Fresno is 3-2, but SDSU is 2-3, so they are eliminated. That leaves us tied with Fresno– at this point the two team tie rules apply and we win the tie breaker with Fresno on our head to head win over Fresno.

  101. cocobean November 24, 2014 11:41 pm

FJai. Fact or fiction. UH has a chance to win their division of the MWC?

  102. cocobean November 24, 2014 11:56 pm

Opinion – No way in heaven or earth will UH win their division. The odds of that happening is about the same as Custer beating Sitting Bull in a rematch.

Fact – UH is still in contention for the division title.

Opinion – There are many who hope UH will beats the odds. But few believe it will happen.

Fact – There are people who won’t acknowledge UH still get chance.

  103. st. anthony trojan November 25, 2014 12:57 am

Before the season started they were predicted to finish 6th….so far is an improvement their record..n if they win Saturday… they should feel good ne way….
win or lose sat… n not worry about all the other possibilities that could…may…or may not happen…

  104. Maddog50 November 25, 2014 5:13 am

Champ #96 I love u man!!!!! Now just a note on the screens that do not work. The “sell by the OL and Rb are key. Must sell downfield pass…Qb sets and then drifts or gives ground to draw rush creating separation. Most screens are lobs over Oncoming rush. It is all about timing……it has not been there. Now in order for a win this week no less than 28 points on O….D must get to Burrell and slow down run game….they have a chance but Fresno needs this to make post season. Go WARRIORS!!!!

  105. UHfan808 November 25, 2014 5:56 am

    Good morning, Tsai-kos! πŸ™‚
