Blaze! What could have been a Al Noga like career if not for injuries. Good to see Soares get his degree. I wonder in a contest of earth shattering hits, would it be Jake Heun or Blaze? Once they begin to falter with 3 and out they completely fall apart! Was hoping the WAC would go 4 – 0 in bolw games.

Hope all WAC Tri-Champions win their respective games. Don’t know why FSU has poor bowl showings…no matter where they play??? I was very disappointed in their lack luster performance. Their db’s are a sorry bunch.

New OIA soccer rule this year. 2 red cards by any player or coach at any time during the season, their (individual) season is over. I thought red cards was judged by severity of the infraction. A red card is automatic 1 game suspension. If the player strikes another player, coach, or referee could be longer. 2 reds and you’re out for the year? Some red cards could be for simple stuff like an inadvertent hand ball in the goal area preventing the other team from scoring. Penalty = out of that game and team plays the rest of the game 1 player short. 2 yellow cards during the same game = 1 red card. Imagine if a player or coach gets 2 technical fouls in basketball total during the season, their season is over. Or a football player gets 2 personal fouls during the season, season over. I think the rule is very harsh and stupid.

Just sharing—-Ms momo and I are celibrating our 45 th wedding anniversary Today. It has real great and thankful for all the support she gave me.We enjoy two great kids and 5 grand kids. Most of you know my son Garret, my daughter is Nan….

Ah yes, but Ralph how many “mid-major” conference programs have the $$$$$$$$$$ to buy out coaching salaries like these BCS conference programs?

Mid-major is quite an accurate term with regards to funding and athletic support by the fans and boosters and ultimately the institution and if it’s a state institution, then it’s a reflection on the state support as well.

We can then say, well, the coaching salaries for some mid-majors are too high, but lowering them cannot usually attract the type of coach sometimes needed for BCS-type success… then what?

It’s all about money. You have it, then you can play with your success more freely than those strapped for it.

$400,000,000.00 is a lot of money that is NOT being shared with the mid majors and the BCS programs wouldn’t have it any other way.

Idaho, NMSU, SDSU, SJSU, UNLV, University of Hawaii, etc.. these schools cannot afford to keep dumping coaches with 8-4 type records while maintaining coaching salaries to level where these schools can TRY to attract coaching talent to even compete with the BIG MONEY programs.

Just keep on truckin… Just keep on winning what you can. That is all we can do.

The system as a whole is busted and has been for a while.

The WAC, MWC, MAC, Sun Belt, and MAC get a bigger percentage of BCS bowl money compared to the “Big 6” conferences than they get from the NCAA basketball tournament. Anyone thinking that a playoff would improve UH’s financial situation should consider that things could be a lot *worse* under a playoff.

Also they would stand to make a lot more from a tv deal to show the playoffs, ESPN would pay a lot to tie that up for a few years.
