Generation Next
Congrats to Pac-Five linebacker Joshua Donovan who will participate in MPI’s graduation ceremony today. This summer, he is expected to be added to the UH roster as a walk-on. The Warriors are in the process of finalizing the 102-player roster for training camp.
Donovan — whose father does some sort of administrative work on the Lower Campus and whose mother is kinda shy — will be joining offensive lineman Tui‘atua Tuiasosopo as a second-generation Warrior. Tuiasososopo, who had left the program to serve a church mission, has been re-admitted to UH.
BigWave also points out that quarterback Jeremy Higgins, receiver Duke Bukoski, linebacker Jordan Monico, and defensive end Beau Yap are nisei Warriors.
* * * * *
Remember linebacker Penitito Faalologo?
The Warriors do. They still are holding a scholarship for him.
Faalologo signed a letter of intent in February 2011, but remained in American Samoa because of a family situation.
The Warriors are hopeful Faalologo will be able to join this summer.

Every now and then, I just have to watch this video: Hawaii Aloha.
First?
Good morning Tsaikos and congratulations and welcome Joshua Donovan.
ST: Do you have Joshua’s height and weight available? Congrats to him.
Yay to the 2nd generation Warriors! Wonder if there are any third generationers. Or if not, who will be the first. Unfortunately, I’m not first today but at least top five again. 🙂
Ppj2: Mahalo for the info about internet on cruises. Can you use your own compuer or do you have to use the ship’s computers?
“Mahalo for the info about internet on cruises …”
I think I know who writes copy for spammers . . .
ST: well, it would be nice if we could get answers to questions, ya know…
I think I’ll call SteveM, SM. Lol.
I hope we don’t have a repeat of yesterday’s altercation.
A huge hug and congratulations to Kyeton. Had a great 4 years and now will go to the next level. Way to go!!
gigi, you can use your own computer but have to purchase the pass word. I don’t know how it works, but I’m sure that they monitor the minutes somehow.
PPJ2: OK, then, I’ll probably try a cruise next year. Thanx
Not to bad, has chance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc9cX0UTceU
Pomai: Great highlites tape! That Joshua is terrific.
pomai, he got very good instincts for where the ball is going and does a pretty good job of tackling. yes, definitely has chance.
and that tape was of his junior season. Must be taller and heavier by now.
I was out last night and didn’t read any of the later posts, so I had to look up the “altercation.”
And …
That was nothing. Just family arguing at the dinner table.
Excellent news of Josh Donovan’s invitation to join the Warrior team – father mentioned at lunch that he’s also a pretty good baseball player.
ST: Too hot under the collar for me.
Gigi:
That’s why I wear T-shirts.
Dont have to worry about the under-the-collar temperature.
By the way, that was the best quality I’ve seen for a highlight video.
Most videos look like they’re shot with 7-Eleven surveillance cameras.
ST I noticed that also…..
Wasn’t Mr. Clapp’s son a Warrior, too? Where is he now?
Pomai, since baseball and softball pau. Us, 27 and in a huge defensive effort and big time upset 24 for da Trojans. Shock da world!!!!
Pomai, are you taking bets now?
Lol at 3-Prong. Hope it comes true.
So, who else was at this party?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huERVOe8Ii0
ST: I wasn’t at the Sugar Bowl party, but a week or so later, I hosted a party for some Tsaikos at my home. Garret gave me a souvenir from the SB, which was cute.
Best New Year’s Eve party.
If we beat USC, can you imagine the euphoria?
Too bad that famous QB is returning for his senior year at SC. Get chance or what?
Justin Clapp is still a receiver on the team.
But Carl Clapp didn’t play for the Warriors, so we’re only on the first generation there.
Re: #29
There would be euphoria in Hawaii.
I think they would have to take away Kiffin’s tie and shoelaces if USC lost.
Gigi..
His senior tape link is on the same page..
here…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhQ4fogXKyc&feature=related
Captain of the team. … tackle leader…
At home, USC would be favored against 119 teams.
MIH: thanx. He reminds me of Leonard Peters and Jeff Ulbricht.
JD2’s senior season was shortened because of a knee injury. He’s a really good tackler.
Joshua resembles his mother! What a cutie!
Kinda Shy, by the way, is a pretty awesome athlete.
She once played on our softball team. She was our left-fielder. She could throw.
I was at the other party put on by Murph with Kapono. We threw my good friend Dean Y’s son Reid on stage w/ Kapono to pump up the crowd. Was anyone there too? Was on Bourbon St when Willie K lead Hawaii Aloha in front of Johnny White’s bar. Chicken skin moment. Locals took ova da block that night. So much Warrior Pride. Best memory of the trip.
Dr. Mike Chun, KS ’61………..
A classmate sent me this enjoyable link to a surprise KSK student flash mob dance tribute for Dr. Mike Chun, KS ’61, the much-beloved retiring headmaster/president of KS Kapalama. Some may recall that he was a high-school All-American end who ended up at Kansas w/ the great Gale Sayers.
http://www.oiwi.tv/live/channels/news/kapalama-flash-mob/
Good morning everyone!
Best wishes and good luck to Joshua Donovan!
HiloBilly: Incredible! What a joyous celebration and send-off! I bet Dr. Chun won’t forget it.
Duke and Kika Bukoski 🙂
Cool HiloBilly thanks.
morning Tstaikos…..
Joshua Donovan looks like he got some very strong hands, cause when he get’s a hold of opponents jerseys, he don’t let go. Blitzing is very good at high school level. another couple inches and about 25-30 lbs. wouldn’t hurt either.
Jeremy & Jim Higgins
BigWave:
Thanks. I’ll edit.
Beau & Boyd Yap
Oh and different sports but Jordan & Mario Monico 🙂 🙂
Morning!
Great videos, gang. Mahalo for posting.
Josh Donovan looks awesome.
Nice flash dance idea for Dr. Chun.
It would be nice to see more flashes of our youth all over Hawaii doing their thingy.
Good job.
Also Joshua Donovan, make your Dad proud…
Glad to hear about Faalologo but whatever happened to David Katina as well?
Good morning Tsaikos!
Congrats to Joshua Donovan, Keiki Carlos and the rest of the MPI class of 2012!!
(According to the yearbook, Sr Class Hoss Election, “Most likely to go pro” – Josh Donovan & Keiki Carlos)
You should see their senior hula pictures. 😀
I don’t think Katina made the grade.
ST: What’s the scoop on former SC volleyballer FF? Do we still have a chance at getting a 6’4″ Wahine Terminator?
Not a good way to lose weight:
3 eggrolls and a medium vanilla ice cream shake from Jack in the box.
Tonight: meat juhn from Soon’s Kalbi in Salt Lake.
comes with white rice and kim chee.
Tomorrow morning: Omelet and pancakes from Koa Pancake House in Moanalua Shopping Center.
Lunch: ???
Sunday dinner: Thai food from Champa Thai.
Vicarious exercise by watching the NBA today and tomorrow.
Plan to lose 10 lbs by watching the Celtics annihilate the enemy today.
Meanwhile, my fingers are getting a workout by typing on the Warrior Beat.
Have no idea about FF except she attended every football practice this spring.
Men in Black, III: Worth seeing? Hubby will see it today.
Panned by the SA critic, but Roger Ebert gave it 3 stars.
in 3D at the Imax.
what happened to jenny craig?
Al: you on JC? (Not Jesus Christ)
if double f makes it in this fall shoji will have his team in the final four.
I feel so hyped up about game 7.
feel jittery, in fact.
Love Ray Allen. Hope he plays well.
btw, how is siaki doing?
gg…Jesus Christ for sure, Jenny Craig no.
i just remember how you used to scoff at us for going to camellia back in the day.
and the heat wants boston.
Nothing wrong with being a walk-on. Good examples, Rich Miano, Richard Torres, Corey Paredes. All made All WAC and proved themselves in practice, hard work ethic, and performance in game situations. Not to mention good role models and all graduated. When you start off as a walk-on you have to do it the old fashioned way. You gotta earn it.
And these guys did. Congrats to Joshua and welcome to the UH football program.
Any word on Gerry Blakes, Aaric Armstead, and former Kahuku S, Tigi Hill?
Al: I treated my youngest sister to lunch at Camellia. She was impressed. Wants to buy that type of grill for her dinner table.
GG you could get pleny exercise going to IMAX with hubby.
Gotta walk a little, climb a litte stairs…get out and breath…
Also, bet you can lose a pound a day at least if you switch white to
brown rice…
Hubby is going alone to the Imax. I want to stay and watch the game.
He prefers to watch the game by zipping thru the commercials with the remote in hand tonight.
Actually, the only way to lose weight is to cut the carbs completely.
Don’t football players do that?
I’m sleepy. Hard to attend a graduation after lunch.
ST is so honest. Lol.
Derek: Speaking of walk-ons and UH hoops, Dayton Morinaga reporting on his web site (sorry, Stephen) that UH is expecting an Australian to walk-on this summer. This according to assistant coach Scott Fisher.
I’m at the Saint Louis graduation.
They took my water bottle.
ST – you going to MPI graduation too? 😀 j/k Screecher has decided to go, so now we have to go in search of lei.
The Blaisdell scoreboard sure looks puny compared to the SSC spaceship.
ST – you must be bored…
Jm
Not sure. Son and daughter are playing in alumni games tonight.
Do not understand why the control-freaks in Hawai’i continue to confiscate water bottles at the various venues. Here, not much of a concern. Is it because the surly folks may cause problems? Is it a control issue? Or is it because they want to make more cash by selling their over-priced water?
Kinda weird.
Did not go to the SLS graduation. Went to one for SHA.
Nisei? Ummm, what is that?
hmmm, unintended consequence of the shift in the DOE calendar? I remember bringing in lei to school for Memorial Day.
http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/154577875.html?id=154577875
Blaisdell Center and School policy prevents anyone bringing Food and Drinks into the Lower Arena Level. Food and Drinks are allowed in the Upper Level. (Food and Drink spills and required cleanup may be too disruptive to the Graduation Ceremonies).
#89
We’re only talking about Graduations at the Blaisdell Center. Other events, food and drinks are allowed (but not from the outside).
nisei…ni is two and sei is generation. thus, nisei or second generation. of japanese origin.
most of us are sansei…d.k. kodama for example. our grandparents were the first generation immigrants to hawaii.
What up mates!
Donovan…hmm…is he related too Jim?
Nice to have some kind of connections into the program. That’s one way to get in, like they all say, “It’s not what you know, It’s who you know”.
Congrats too Tui, sure could use guys like him up front. Hoping he still has it.
Jordan Monico deserves more position pt, along with a scholly. “Common coach! Senior year, stop listing to Tony! , The boy can play, give him a chance he’s a good athlete!” lol
Oh boy, Donovan, Stevens, Fonua, and Fa’alologo if he comes….with only 4 seniors out of 14-15 total linebackers, I sure would hate to be an incoming linebacker due to the competition with a very deep dept chart. I guess having more is better than less. Sometimes more can be a little too much.
polywarrior, joshua donovan is not/does not have a scholie nor was one offered to him, he is going to try and make the team as a walk on. he not asking for anything special, but just a chance to make the team. What’s wrong with that???
Also, that may not be water in your bottle, especially if you are a graduate today…
neva seen allen shot so poorly….good ting garnett is not in a shooting slump.
shoot
mctruck: allen has been sinking 3pt shots. just did one a moment ago. not bad for a guy with a sprained ankle.
hey, that video and that flag on stage looks familiar….
Howzit, everyone!
Gratz to all Grads, and welcome to all our new Warriors and Warrior hopefuls.
ST, Tuisosopo’s name (the second time) has one too many “so’s”.
That tribute to Doctor Chun was outstanding! So much emotion. So much fun!
Who hits hundred today?
sorry for the shakiness of the vid. was a very emotional night. and an even longer next day….
Oh, was me… haven’t done that in ages! Ok, time for da kids to get back onto this machine. Only drawback of them being on vacation… I lose computer time.
i also like this video too from that fateful day
http://youtu.be/zIgK5XLqIkw
well, well, well
whadaya say now!!!!
Celtics vs Heat on Monday.
whoo!
My bet is on the Heat. It’s their time to shine.
Isn’t it Tuiasosopo?
In Japan, they say so so so so so real fast.
Wake me when it’s football season.
🙂
BIK
Yeah, BIK got it… I missed the “a” in his name too. Ok, machine goes back to the kids again…
#91 al, thank u for the great answer to my question about Nisei.
Men in Black: hubby said it is a “pretty good movie. It will never be a great movie.”
The Celtics did not play well today. Too old, perhaps, except for Rondo.
The only way they will win is if LeBron freezes like before. Why does he always choke when the going gets tough?
papajoe2: hubby is really interested in the Panama Canal cruise. He is googling it right now.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line
San Diego – Panama – Ft Lauderale
$1750 for ocean view
not bad
the cruise of a life time!
anybody want to talk about football?
talk about football. Lol
Gigi: I tried earlier this morning too with my Early Pomai Prediction but no takers. Too early I guess.
3-Prong: I hear ya. But, I feel it is never too early to predict an upset over USC.
ST: Is Norm Chow still living at his daughter’s home?
Does he plan to rent or buy a place of his own?
Has Coach Mack sold his house yet? I forget what his asking price was, but I know it was over $1 million.
Coach Mack will probably reside in his home in Henderson, Nevada, where my daughter will be attending graduate school.
Congrats to Wahine discus thrower TeRina Keenan on qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Football? Did somebody say football?
Well here’s a bit of “news”:
“…former Michigan QB Tate Forcier
has signed a three-year contract with Hamilton of the Canadian Football League. Forcier wrote that he is “very excited” to play for the Tiger-Cats.
He started for former Wolverines coach Rich Rodriguez ahead of Denard Robinson in 2009 but was a backup in 2010.
Forcier was ruled academically ineligible to play as a sophomore in Michigan’s bowl game. He once planned to attend Miami, but ended up at San Jose State last season, where he didn’t play while sitting out as a transfer….”
“roll”
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/story/2012/05/15/sp-cfl-michigan-tate-forcier-hamilton-tiger-cats.html
Actually, good for Forcier. Tough to get academically qualified…
Now he will have a job. And maybe can earn his degree on line…
🙄
Ipu: Good luck to him.
And if Shaq could get his Ph.D. online, why not Forcier? Lol
Actually, a lot of business screen job applicants by testing them online. If they pass the test, they are called in for an interview.
Vote for Steven Hunt in the “Off the Block Fan Choice POY” poll. This is the “Regional semi-finals” and he’s up against Brad Lawson. There are Hawaii boys in the poll, but the only who counts is Steven Hunt!

Late… Thanks Hilo, for the Flash Mob Video, …

(wasn’t always so…)
That, Recruiting, Plus Tempo…are at least Three Things Better Already …
(Slackadasical was Madden-ing…)
Don’t think Forcier is too interested in getting his college degree. 😈
JM: ok, I voted for Steven Hunt. He only has 11 votes so far.

Used to enjoy James Bond movies.
Roger Moore was da best Bond ever.
Daniel Craig not so hot.
Great Evening All!
Been able to lurk the past coupla days but otherwise busy.
Best wishes to all the walk-ons. I know they will be working as hard, if not harder than the schollie players.
wafan,
Thanks for the shout-out for #2 son. Today was the Baccalaureate and graduation is tomorrow morning. Just watched the evening weather report and it looks like a good chance for nice weather.
Early start tomorrow.
Oyasumina-tsai…
D1 you are in for something special. Graduation in the Oak Grove on a beautiful Spring day. Priceless. Congratulations.
“Nisei” was a local test.

San Jose State: Former Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier has been named athletic director at San Jose State. Bleymaier was reportedly the only candidate interviewed and he signed a five year agreement with first year compensation of approximately $322,000.

Saturday May 19, 2012
Alcorn State: Sources again tell me that Alcorn State officials have yet to make a decision on their new head coach.
M/M D-1 ~ Congratulations on the eve of your #2 son’s graduation day. It’s a day I know that you folks have been eagerly awaiting. How quickly our children grow to manhood, and wait at the threshold of an exciting new beginning.
Your sons have both brought honor to your family name. Watching #2 play football for the last time must have been a bittersweet moment for you and mama. All those years of following the teams from game to game from Pop Warner to college will all be worth it when you see him get that Diploma!
Good Job!
#93 whitey,
sheesh! relax exlax, hold your horses champ, I didn’t say Donovan was on a scholly. Try read an understand 1st before assuming laddat! Bettah yet go grab one dictionary so you can look up the definitions.
ST stated that Donovan’s pops does some administrative work at lower campus, so that’s one way of getting some line of connections into getting an invitation to fall camp. Some players on scholly weren’t not invited, how you figgah?
I know penettito or penny hes a good classy guy my brother played jv with his older brother an i use to watch the games with him but annyways i can personally vouche he is a swell guy. Heck of a athlete to.
polywarrior – go back and read what ST wrote. You tried to read between the lines. JD2 is being added to the roster. He didn’t say anything about being invited to fall camp. He may be added to the roster once school starts.
D1 & Family:
Congrats on Graduation!
Fair & Light Winds…
aglee
Hope Abriana has a super time and her folks make memories!
Good morning everyone.
Good luck to JD v2.0!
Do JD v1.0 and v.1.1 proud!!!
I wonder if the Mexican lunch buffet is open tomorrow.
Great Morning All!
3-prong, al, whitey, Eagle, and Kekoa (and anybody else I missed),
Plenty Mahalo from us all for your well wishes. No problem at all beating the alarm clock this morning so I had a little time to check in here before we head out.
3-prong, Yes! We are looking forward to the entire wonderful experience! The Oak Grove looks fantastic! 🙂
Have a terrific Sunday erryboddy…I know we will!
ST,
Who won? Did Wena and Diko play?
A glorious Sunday morning all! Sunrise was spectacular! Best wishes to D1 and ohana on #2’s graduation! Best wishes to all those graduating, make the most of every opportunity!
Gotta agree with PW4L all the way on this one…..
After NC allowed only 2 new walk-ons to participate for Spring Ball….after 100+ participated in the open tryouts, young JD2 getting an invitation to walk-on during the Fall (even if after Fall Camp starts) is NO small deal. SO….being added to the roster is also NO small deal.
Unlike Mack & Miano (who regularly added 15+ new walk-ons to the Spring Ball roster), NC obviously doesn’t believe in take in alot of walk-ons to the roster.
BUT while having pops as the AD definitely helped him to get the invite to be added to the team roster in the Fall, JMHO that young JD2 is eventually gonna have to prove that he belongs on the practice field with the other Warriors…..just like Justin Clapp clearly proved to his Warrior teammates.
Hopefully young JD2 makes the most of his opportunity….that his pops JD’s connections have obviously afforded him. Otherwise, it’ll be interesting to see if NC keeps JD2 on the team roster.
Howzit Tsaikos from Banning. the inner valley is hosting junior golf and baseball this weekend. exciting times.
Go Warriors.
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Congrats D1 – job well done but the real congrats should go to your son getting his diploma!
Congrats also to JD and Kinda Shy – you raised a good kid!
Good morning Tsaikos. Great article by Mike T about the very young lady going to Disney World.

Good morning, gang!
Congrats to d1shima #2! Glad that the OR weather will provide a glorious day for the graduation.
Congrats to “the kid” Kyeton! Love hearing about your golfing from whitey.
I voted for Stephen Hunt. He’s ahead of the Stanford kid right now.
#150 JM2375,………6..7.8.9.10
Read between the lines? What lines?, invitation……walk on…..its the same thing. There are no guarantees that JD2 will make the final roster come the season opener. Obviously JD wasn’t good enough in the eyes of the coaches to earn a scholly, so the other option is to walk on. After the spring, NC had cut guys from the roster and there where not invited to the fall camp, some of those kats where on scholarship. NC will eventually trim the roster again and some players where not invited to fall camp, some will be back on the roster come the start of fall session. Like they all say, “It’s not what you know, It’s who you know”. There are far more athletic walk ons who have trained hard that never even had a chance to get on the team, yet JD2 has?
