Game Day

Season is officially underway. The Warriors performed the haka.

And,  for those interested, they are dressed in green jerseys and white pants.

* * * * *

All of those questions should be answered tonight, such as:

• How good is UH’s offensive line?

• How good is quarterback Bryant Moniz?

• Is Vili back?

• Will Darius Bright play?

* * * * *

Brashton Satele started at inside linebacker for the J-E-T-S today.

    Go Warriors!

  2. Garret September 2, 2010 6:20 am

Another question: Can UH’s DL and unpredictable blitz scheme take advantage of a USC OL that hasn’t gotten to practice together and has several members playing with injury?

  3. CoolEthan September 2, 2010 6:22 am

Sure would of like to seen our Waipio’s Heroe’s sharing the halftime podium with our Wahines. Hope to see ESPN cover the halftime show.

  4. tommui September 2, 2010 6:22 am

    GOOD MORNING HAWAII!

    ROLL ON HAWAII!

  5. CoolEthan September 2, 2010 6:22 am

But would that of been too much multi-tasking for the decision makers?

  6. LizKauai (iPhone) September 2, 2010 6:25 am

    Aloha Kakahiaka!

Anyone passing the airport on the way to the T-Gate around 1:30?

I am arriving on HA around that time.

    Otherwise, I’ll grab TheBus.

  7. Stephen Tsai September 2, 2010 6:26 am

It would be nice to see ESPN cover the halftime, especially at that hour. But, I suppose, they have to go back to doing yet another SportsCenter update.

  8. LizKauai (iPhone) September 2, 2010 6:26 am

good luck for catching a ride……but so there’s no worries..just take cab from a/p to the gathering place; faster/less stress.

  24. greenthumb September 2, 2010 7:01 am

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally game day! 🙂 Thank you to Pride . for recalling 1979, and seconding Al’s request for more. Re yesterday’s #275, watching special teams on the field is one of my favorite moments in any game because of the strategy, chance, finesse and power, all in one.

  25. expat September 2, 2010 7:01 am

    Go Warriors!

I think one of the major challenges that UH Manoa has is the lack of natural rivals. UH is the only major show in town. Some of the other schools produce excellent teams in their own divisions, but UH is the only major athletic program and there isn’t the natural rivalry pushing the school forward for bragging rights. I am thinking of rivalries like Oregon State and Oregon. Even Idaho, which is not much bigger than Hawaii in terms of population, has three state schools that have developed long-term rivalries. The rivalry between Idaho and Boise State is astonishing in its intensity.

Even when UH was battling BYU in the WAC we weren’t really a rival of BYU. They cared about Utah, mostly. We don’t have any “trophy” games set up with anyone. Even Fresno has that. JD needs to set up scheduling series with a long-term eye of setting up some rivalries so that certain schools want and expect to play UH every year — and not just because they have to because of conference play. Notre Dame’s schedule is half set each year just with their rivalry games. They are an exception of course but that is the way to be independent — ND always plays Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, USC, Boston College, and Navy. I think a major reason ND resists joining the BIG 10 is that they might lose out on some of their traditional rivalry games.

  28. gigi-hawaii September 2, 2010 7:12 am

    expat,

Re rivalry games. I don’t know if you are old as I am, but remember the old rivalry between Roosevelt HS and Punahou when they fought for the Paintbrush Trophy? Those were fun times.

  30. postmanke September 2, 2010 7:13 am

    Lets go Warriors!!

I dont think it will be as big as an issue with scheduling as an Independent. We should have no problem scheduling teams that love recruiting in Hawaii in the middle of the season. Who would not want to come to one of the top recruiting grounds in the country to try and poach a few top prospects? Go Independent! more and more team will do the same..

Last year on game day before kick off i was a little negative in suggesting that we fire Ron Lee. I wont be so negative this year… my mantra this year – Go Get Kenny!

If we’re leaning towards Independent there is no better fit than Kenny! Never mind winning, lets go make some money!

Are we suppose to wear green today???

  38. haka September 2, 2010 7:26 am

Lot’s of keys to the game, but one key for the Warrior defense is to stop the tightend!

I guess it may fall in Paipai’s hands as he has the size to matchup.

And, of course, the Warrior O-line must be the stars of the game!

    Go Warriors!

Sistah LizK…. check your FaceBook message in a few…

Btw anyone knows of a good Android am radio app to listen to 1420?

  73. Garret September 2, 2010 8:48 am

Houston’s head coach gave good advice to his players…win and the conference stuff will take care of itself. I hope that the Warriors can do the same for UH’s Athletic Department…they are playing for their team, the state, and every other team that UH has.

Another is Texas A&M bolting for the Southeastern Conference next year and creating another round of chaos within the Big 12. If A&M leaves, Texas could decide UH’s fate by deciding to stay in the Big 12 and inviting a school or two from a group that would include UH, TCU and BYU.

So much to do, so little time.

“I just think if we handle our business, everything else will take care of itself,” Sumlin said. “I can’t speculate on anything else. It’s not my job, and it’s a waste of time. The best thing we can do is win, and with that comes all the other stuff.”

His players have heard the same message: Don’t sweat the large stuff. Only Texas State matters, because all the Coogs can do this week is beat Texas State.

  85. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc September 2, 2010 9:20 am

    Dan-O:

It will take you about an hour to get to the Stadium from Manoa given the time of day, day of the week and the event itself – that is, assuming that you had a place to park; however, you’ll wind up having to park in one of the lots that are not anywhere near the Stadium and walking (Ford Island) or taking the shuttle bux (LCC) – if it’s still running.

I’m dropping off our car in the T-Gate lot around 11 am and heading back into town on the bus to work. DrDoc and I are catching a bus back out to the Stadium around 3 pm and should be there by 4 pm in time to help with the cleanup. Workday games suck, but game scheduling is not under the fans’ control.

LK: Agreed…and he got some choice words from me, which included, “Can you please cut my daughter?”

  108. Mad Dog September 2, 2010 11:09 am

I’m wearing my Warrior t-shirt at work now. In fact, I’m leaving for the game in a few minutes.

  109. BigIslandkurt September 2, 2010 11:20 am

Today is one of those few times of the year that I wish I lived on Oahu. Have fun at the games you guys!

Go Warriors! Beat Trojans. USC Trojans, that is.

I love me some Ka’u Trojans!

    BIK

  110. truefan September 2, 2010 11:20 am

  112. Last Call September 2, 2010 11:30 am

Great news JD is done weighing and moved on to pondering.

  113. Last Call September 2, 2010 11:33 am

Lets see Mr. Peanuts daughter goes to USC so is she here and if she is did she get here on the WAC’s dime ?

A good investigative reporter would find out these things.

  114. Derek September 2, 2010 11:37 am

Today is the day, 9/2/10. You couldn’t ask for a better day to showcase our State and our team to the nation on national television. Let’s all play the song “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas and get in the mood that TONIGHT IS GOING TO BE A GOOD DAY for Hawaii.

After we win the game, Coach Mac should tell the players what Bryan Yoshii told his Waipio team after they beat Georgia, HUMBLE, HUMBLE, BE HUMBLE.! Very good advice. You don’t want the players to be bumping their chests and taunting USC during or after the game. When all said and done, it’s the character, the leadership, and the sportsmanship that tell’s most about what the coaches are preaching. Winning is a by-product of selfless team play, not selfish play. Mac said it right when he said they are playng for the entire State, no only for themselves. On a hot day, the players will get tired. The team that has the most mental toughness is probably win. I hope that team is our Warriors. With all the bad news about our conference recently, it is time for some good news. The good Lord works in mysterious ways. Amen! Hallelujah!

  115. kaleo September 2, 2010 11:57 am

I believe this is not an ideal gauge of how effective Hawai’i will be this year, however:

-I’m curious about how well the o-line will do

-I’m interested to see how our linebackers do

-I’d like to see Brent Rausch rotated in for a series or two

-I’d like to see if Alex Green can still be aggressive and hold on to the ball

-I’d like to see how Salas responds to the USC d-b’s

and oh yeah, I could care less about Vili

  116. LizKauai (iPhone) September 2, 2010 12:03 pm

Mahalo, USC. Plenty of fans means good stuff for Hawaii.

My flight should be very colorful with all the supporter shirts!

So. I thought kulolo was bad. Hawaiian salt has to go through testing as well as inspection!

  117. kaleo September 2, 2010 12:07 pm

TSA checked your kulolo? I think they just wanted Kaua’i’s best, including the pa’akai

  118. LizKauai (iPhone) September 2, 2010 12:12 pm

Ha, kaleo, last year I missed a flt because the kulolo had to be checked luggage and not hand-carried.

This time, the pa’akai, packed in 6 small ziplocks, had to undergo a chemical test. Next time I will leave it in one bag and re-bag it at the t-gate.

    K. Almost boarding time!

  120. kev-1 September 2, 2010 12:20 pm

    LizKauai:

Be careful how you decide to package your Hawaiian salt when you travel. I would imagine that there have been those in the past trying to pass off naughty stuff as Hawaiian salt, if you know what i mean. Also make sure the small baggies aren’t too small bumbai they try to accuse you of intent to distribute.

  121. kev-1 September 2, 2010 12:24 pm

reminds me of a story about the last time I traveled through the Big Island. In short . . . I have 3 kids (5, 3, and 1) and had baby food in my carry on which happened to be 0.5 ounces more than the acceptable amount. The guy held it up, looked at me and said “sir, are you traveling with any children?” I looked at him, looked down at my 1 year old in the stroller and my 3 year old running around like crazy, looked back at him and said “seriously?” Then laughed for about 30 minutes as they chemical strip tested my sons baby food.

  122. postmanke September 2, 2010 12:32 pm

there were 6 fumbles in last years opener. Sweat palms, new balls? There’s gonna be some big hits but I am hoping we can punch the ball loose more than a few times tonight!

  123. Stephen Tsai September 2, 2010 12:32 pm

OK. I’m awake from my pre-game nap. Is a three-hour sleep a nap?

  124. LizKauai (iPhone) September 2, 2010 12:35 pm

On the plane with hizzhonor and his whole Ohana! Awesome!

  125. del September 2, 2010 12:37 pm

  126. del September 2, 2010 12:39 pm

REMEMBER WHAT UCLA DID TO THE VOLS .

  127. uscbizad September 2, 2010 12:41 pm

Off to the game, then will probably leave by mid 3d quarter with my buddies to beat traffic to Side Street for the post-game celebration.

Tomorrow we’re off to beautiful Kauai for some golf. Aloha!

  128. greenthumb September 2, 2010 12:48 pm

#118 LizKauai — carrying on homemade mochi is fun, too. Our best time was when the agents wanted us to eat a piece to prove it was food, then when the package was open, dropping hints for a sample. My mind is too innocent to think what bad thing the salt resembles.

  129. jeezy33 September 2, 2010 12:50 pm

looks like dwight howard showed up to UH bball practice today

  130. gigi-hawaii September 2, 2010 12:50 pm

    ST,

you napped longer than my grandson!!!

Guess what he had for lunch: Green beans (Gerbers) and his mom’s milk.

    yumm!!!

  131. RedZone September 2, 2010 12:58 pm

Last week driving on H1 near stadium I saw a huge rainbow. We know what this means.

    Go Warriors.

  132. Hilo Moon September 2, 2010 12:58 pm

Happy TG ing to all. Wish I could be there.

    GO WARRIORS!

  133. 22Tokyo September 2, 2010 1:00 pm

    GO Warriors!!!!

If there’s anything that makes me homesick after being away for 7 years it’s days like this…it’s killing me not being at the game…GO Warriors….

  134. gigi-hawaii September 2, 2010 1:01 pm

    RedZone,

it would have been really awesome had you seen the rainbow today!!!

  135. LizKauai (iPhone) September 2, 2010 1:35 pm

uscbizad – Thanks for visiting Kauai!

  136. chopsueyboy September 2, 2010 1:37 pm

  137. LizKauai (iPhone) September 2, 2010 1:38 pm

22Tokyo, we will be cheering for you too. No worry!

Haha, greenthumb! Actually, I forgot. It was Hanalei POI that made me miss my flight.

So now I have pie and longjohns- recognizable by most people. 😉

  138. LizKauai (iPhone) September 2, 2010 1:39 pm

    #136- Rainbow helmet?

  139. TChahng September 2, 2010 1:41 pm

  140. aka El Padrino September 2, 2010 1:50 pm

    Tom Mui

On behalf of the UH Letterwinners our thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family

  141. gigi-hawaii September 2, 2010 1:52 pm

I was told that Radford High School let out school early today at 1:30 pm to allow people to park there for the game.

  142. Steve September 2, 2010 1:58 pm

All I want is for UH to come out of this game healthy, it is going to be a long season, and this is only game 1.

  143. gigi-hawaii September 2, 2010 2:13 pm

    No injuries, Steve!!!

  144. BleedGreen808 September 2, 2010 2:27 pm

I am bummed out that I won’t be able to watch the game in person. TV will have to do. Well, hope to be home next week.

    IMUA WARRIORS!

Have fun at the game! Hope I can stay up to watch it all the way.

  145. BleedGreen808 September 2, 2010 2:27 pm

Is the game on ESPN OR ESPN2?

  146. Steve September 2, 2010 2:30 pm

    ESPN

  147. HNL September 2, 2010 2:55 pm

I got my poke, my U.H. shirt/hat on, t.v. on, good to go. Is the game on yet, I’m ready.

  148. BleedGreen808 September 2, 2010 2:58 pm

    Thanks, Steve!

  149. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 3:20 pm

    #239 & 240 posts / 9-1-10: Re: D1 and Papajoe 2: Thank you gentlemen both

for the accolades and acknowledgement. I won’t be at the game in Honolulu but will be watching closely from my LA area home.

Game time is just hour and a half away as USC espn radio announcers I like listening to their words eye view. HOPE the Warriors just compete and keep it close as the USC announcers predict a 42 to 17 victory.

A 25 point spread IF that is any consolation.

Have a GREAT Tsaiko Tailgate !

  150. Stephen Tsai September 2, 2010 3:22 pm

OK. One mystery solved. UH is wearing white pants.

  151. Stephen Tsai September 2, 2010 3:23 pm

I hope the game is on ESPN because that’s where I set the DVR.

  152. jojo ® September 2, 2010 3:27 pm

Thanks Stephen Tsai. I wish I was at the tailgate!

  153. greenthumb September 2, 2010 4:02 pm

#137 LizKauai, is the Hanalei Poi smoothie truck still in Hanalei? You guys have so much good food on Kauai. 🙂

  154. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 4:33 pm

Kauai is my all-time favorite island… ever since our 5th grade field trip way back in the early 70’s. Was especially good since we had guided tours… and got to hear all of the stories related to the various locations, full of Hawaiian folklore, to include the Menehune Fishpond, the Sleeping Giant, etc…

  155. Steve September 2, 2010 4:42 pm

ESPN is only talking about USC, not a word about UH. Almost like USC is playing USC. This game is only about USC is seems.

  156. Shoko September 2, 2010 4:44 pm

ESPN talking more about USC would be the norm. Warriors just have to shut dem up!

    GOOOOOOOOOOO WARRRRRRRIORRRRS!

  157. G (China) September 2, 2010 4:44 pm

It seems that espn3 is not streaming. Is there another sight that people know? Thanks, G

  158. Shoko September 2, 2010 4:50 pm

    G,

Try Channelsurfing.net and look for the Hawaii game. Should be near the bottom. Good luck.

Is it time for a long extended tv timeout?

    PLEASE!

  163. whoa September 2, 2010 5:05 pm

    Plenty of empty seats.

  164. chopsueyboy September 2, 2010 5:08 pm

    #163

    traffic, we’re coming

All 40,000 of us are still outside

  165. diesel September 2, 2010 5:20 pm

Fundamentals Mr Davis. Wrap da legs braddah!! Lets make up that missed tackle on the next series with a pick 6.

  166. Matt September 2, 2010 5:24 pm

Green running pretty well so far. Need to get Salas involved though.

  167. greenthumb September 2, 2010 5:26 pm

“Pirales” and whatever they called Greg Alexander? And boo-hoo for Monte Kiffin and the shotgun. 👿 On a happier note, it is great to see Rodney Bradley looking healthy on the field.

  168. Steve September 2, 2010 5:26 pm

Moniz seems to have left his passing arm in practice, right now.

  169. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 5:28 pm

Red Zone problem once again with first n goal with no touch down !

Golden opportunity to score as three points is all you can do !

    NOT GOOD !

  170. Steve September 2, 2010 5:31 pm

That stadium looks real empty, more USC rooters then Hawaii. Where are the UH backers.

  171. greenthumb September 2, 2010 5:31 pm

#170, traffic. I am getting sad txts from friends who have been stuck forever.

  172. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 5:32 pm

Freshmen Robert Woods #2 a STUD and Marc Tyler will just run

the ball, eat up clock !

USC receivers BIG, FAST and STRONG !

  173. Steve September 2, 2010 5:37 pm

If Hawaii does not learn how to tackle real quickly this game is going to get ugly fast.

  174. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 5:39 pm

USC a complete team with BIG fast and strong athletes !

Warriors need to answer as this game will get out of hand

quickly as Hawaii defense has no answer to the Trojans over powering offense !

    USC 14 Hawaii 3

  175. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 5:40 pm

Grrrrrrrr… we are not tackling at all.

  176. Shoko September 2, 2010 5:45 pm

Man, if our offense doesn’t start firing, this is going to be a long game.

  177. Steve September 2, 2010 5:46 pm

    greenthumb:

If you are still in traffic, start thinking about turning around and going somewhere else. I may not want to see this game.

  178. Steve September 2, 2010 5:47 pm

    I = you, sorry.

  179. Steve September 2, 2010 5:49 pm

    greenthumb:

Better yet, go to the Tsaiko’s TG, you will enjoy the food more then the game.

  180. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 5:49 pm

I think they called Greg Alexander “Anderson”. And they also keep refering to us as the Rainbow Warriors.

  181. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 5:49 pm

USC is to BIG for Hawaii to tackle. I have seen this scenario so many times

as IT does not matter who they put in as the Warriors cannot match up

physically or athletically against them !

Another long drive as I have said all along USC is a BEAST and they are LOADED

    with TALENTED players !

Freshmen Robert Woods from my BACK YARD !

  182. whoa September 2, 2010 5:53 pm

Pushed around in the box, lack of speed, poor tackling and stupid personal fouls. Not much has changed on “D”.

  183. Steve September 2, 2010 5:55 pm

Hawaii, cannot tackle, cannot cover revievers, boy this is going to be a verrrryyyy loooong

    gaammmmeee.

  184. Steve September 2, 2010 5:55 pm

    recievers.

  185. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 5:56 pm

Frustration setting in with personal foul !

Trojans will just RUN their STUDS and wear down Hawaii defense !

WOW now the tight end to score / 20 to 3 and it’s not half time yet !

  186. greenthumb September 2, 2010 5:56 pm

Woohoo, nice breakup of the 3rd consecutive attempt at 2 extra. #178 Steve, we had work issues 🙁 so watching at home and listening to the fanboy announcers.

  187. Steve September 2, 2010 5:58 pm

Where are all those defensive players the coaches said they had. I think Hawaii is trying to show the nation that they belong in Division II.

  188. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 5:59 pm

Man… we’re playing like this is a scrimmage… like we don’t want to hurt the other team. We better start hitting and tackling!!!

  189. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:06 pm

USC has made adjustments and TAKEN your run n shoot out of the game.

Got to get something on the ground as interception is coming !

Moniz is confused as Trojans defense is mixing it up. Kiffen’s father

GREAT defensive coordianator as Kealoha helmet just came off !

Moniz is ALL your offense and Pilares just got PUNISHED !

  190. Shoko September 2, 2010 6:08 pm

    Moniz doin a Masoli. 😉

  191. Steve September 2, 2010 6:12 pm

I hope this is not the beginning of a very long season. Thank goodness we all have the Wahine Volleyball team to hang our hats on.

  192. Shoko September 2, 2010 6:13 pm

The scenary of Hawaii makes me miss home.

  193. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:13 pm

Field goal once again will not beat USC !

You need to show the Trojans that you are a THREAT !

Salas is LUCKY that it was just his helmet that came off !

20-6 and USC will have the ball against Hawaii weaking defense !

  194. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:17 pm

Barkley has ALL the protection in the World !

USC receivers can catch ball in many situations

as FIRST DOWN once again !

  195. greenthumb September 2, 2010 6:18 pm

    SACKKK!!!!!!!!

  196. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:18 pm

Salas is a tough tough WR

  197. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 6:19 pm

First Sack of the game… UH DEFENSE holds!

  198. Shoko September 2, 2010 6:19 pm

    Hehe, Barkley sacked!

  199. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:19 pm

    Finally got Barkley !

Hopefully Hawaii can drive for a TOUCHDOWN !

  200. Steve September 2, 2010 6:21 pm

Common on Moniz lets see that arm everyone was saying you had. Receivers catch like you do in practice.

  201. rap demo September 2, 2010 6:24 pm

I really appreciate what you post.

  202. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:25 pm

  205. G (China) September 2, 2010 6:26 pm

    TOUCH DOWN PILARES!!

  206. Steve September 2, 2010 6:26 pm

    Alright, Hawaii back in game.

  207. greenthumb September 2, 2010 6:27 pm

TD play was 56 yards. Loved every one of them!

  208. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:27 pm

ALL Right NOW we got a GAME !

Don’t get to excited as the DEFENSE has to step up !

  209. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:28 pm

no matter what USC is not USC

  210. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 6:28 pm

Another defensive stop on this USC series would be huge!!! Let’s go, Warriors!

  211. greenthumb September 2, 2010 6:29 pm

Stands fuller; 12th man really representing.

  212. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:32 pm

USC tight ends ONCE again comes up with a BIG play !

  213. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:33 pm

My boy Robert Woods just a FRESHMEN !

Now USC has taken back the momentum !

  214. Shoko September 2, 2010 6:36 pm

    Well, that was shortlived.

  215. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:38 pm

USC just answered as they ALWAYS do !

ONE big Hawaii offensive play and DEFENSE can’t hold !

27 to 13 as USC will ALWAYS be USC as they don’t panic !

  216. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:41 pm

USC corners and DB’s… sensing weakness there

  217. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:44 pm

    USC Sucks!

  218. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:45 pm

or are we that good! wow!

  219. johnp September 2, 2010 6:46 pm

Is USC offense good or is UH defense bad?

Is the UH offense good or the USC defense bad?

  220. Shoko September 2, 2010 6:46 pm

    It’s good. TD!

  221. G (China) September 2, 2010 6:47 pm

    TOUCH DOWN!!

  222. johnp September 2, 2010 6:47 pm

Lane Kiffin ain’t smiling no more.

  223. Shoko September 2, 2010 6:50 pm

    What BS.

  224. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:50 pm

we should only be down 7 to a bunch of cheaters!

  225. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:50 pm

  226. G (China) September 2, 2010 6:51 pm

It’s okay that the rob us…but it will come again! Hawaii is figuring them out!

  227. Shoko September 2, 2010 6:51 pm

    That was clearly a TD.

  228. johnp September 2, 2010 6:51 pm

USC needs help via the refs. How sad.

  229. Shoko September 2, 2010 6:52 pm

Haha, everyone is booing. Who are they booing? Benson or the ref?

  230. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 6:52 pm

WOW you can’t get a HOME call with

NO running game to punch it in from the

    goal line !

Good battle as the Warriors are hanging TOUGH !

  231. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:53 pm

I like Lane Kiffen.. but USC aint USC

  232. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:54 pm

  233. johnp September 2, 2010 6:54 pm

Geez take Boise out of those WAC commercials.

  234. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 6:54 pm

LOL @ Kiffin… says we didn’t figure out “nuthin'”… then why is Salas making plays against his secondary?

Keep at it, Warriors! Play better defense and keep moving on offense. We got ourselves a ball game!

Sad missed TD call by the refs.

  235. postmanke September 2, 2010 6:55 pm

first and goal twice from within the 3 yard line.. dear lord help us this season!

  236. johnp September 2, 2010 6:58 pm

Put on subtitles for Lou Holtz …

  237. pcwarrior September 2, 2010 6:59 pm

Kiffen upset…. espn bob davies has nothing good to say except we’re a cheap shot program with alot of personal fouls and cheap shots on the sidelines…. should’ve been a touchdown but we’re not crying

  238. pcwarrior September 2, 2010 7:01 pm

    LET’S GO WARRIORS beat usc

  239. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 7:01 pm

Shouldn’t have called that final timeout. Should’ve ran up and spiked the ball. Would’ve at least given us one run play to possibly work with.

  240. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:02 pm

Can’t blame USC for the controversial call as they did not bring your referees !

You are hanging TOUGH as the 2nd half Trojans will look to pour it on !

Good first half as Salas is ALL that you have stated he will be as he is

    killing USC young db’s !

Key to this game has to be Hawaii defense as Barkley 4 touchdown passes

and pass protection is picking the Warriors apart !

  241. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 7:05 pm

    We wuz robbed…

  242. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:07 pm

Considering the score, I think its quite obvious how much those sanctions have affected they’re program. Probably one reason why Kiffen is disappointed.

  243. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 7:09 pm

    That “What if” commercial…

What if UH had half the amount of benefits these BCS schools have… like being in a BCS conference, money, recruiting, etc.?

  244. ct September 2, 2010 7:11 pm

I have a question … how come the ball was placed on the 2 yard line. It clearly shows Sala was lying on the USC player … so even if he was down … it should’ve been placed inside the one ?????

  245. ct September 2, 2010 7:12 pm

ooops … meant to say on about the 6 inch yard line

  246. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:14 pm

    MW,

True, when you consider USC spending 912k in recruiting verses Hawaii’s 466k, it makes a difference.

  247. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 7:14 pm

Okay, our offense can move. We still need to solve our redzone problems, but at least we know we can score.

Our defense has to show up for the second half.

  248. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:14 pm

Sanctions has nothing to do with this ball game !

USC still have high prize talented athletes as your

Warriors are hanging in there !

Moniz is playing and the offensive line is doing

a GREAT job protecting him !

2nd half Hawaii defense HAS to stop the Trojan offense !

  249. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:16 pm

Oh Well here we go again USC power running game !

  250. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:17 pm

Marc Tyler is the TRUTH !

All pro running back Wendell Tyler son !

  251. johnp September 2, 2010 7:17 pm

Did USC make the halftime spread because of that call?

  252. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 7:17 pm

So now they want to make us fall asleep with smashmouth football. When they go to the run, we gotta try to strip that ball. But watch for the play-action passes!

  253. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:20 pm

    Good Hawaii defensive stop !

USC is racking up the penalties !

  254. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:21 pm

    WOW a bad snap !

    Man that hurts !

  255. postmanke September 2, 2010 7:22 pm

We’re taking it to a bunch of All Americans… nicely done!

I’m liking Westwood more than I do than the Harbor Freeway right about now..

BIG time players making BIG time plays !

Special team Ronald Johnson just throwing Hawaii

tacklers off with NO problem and catching

touchdowns on the offensive end !

Back killer as USC All Americans step up !

    34 to 13

  265. postmanke September 2, 2010 7:34 pm

I’ll exit Slauson grab a taco at the taco truck and head to Westwood thank you! Jes, Westwood! =)

  266. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:36 pm

    Go ahead to Westwood !

They will lose to the Trojans too !

  267. Matt September 2, 2010 7:37 pm

    Throw the ball to Salas.

  268. postmanke September 2, 2010 7:37 pm

you stand over that All American Pollard.. Stand over him! nice hit!

  269. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:38 pm

    Wow, great move by Pilares

  270. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:39 pm

Hehe, Warriors finding holes in that USC defense. 🙂

  271. postmanke September 2, 2010 7:40 pm

    concussion

  272. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:40 pm

    Get Brent in there.

  273. johnp September 2, 2010 7:42 pm

    cheap shot USC

  274. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:42 pm

    Moniz just got HAMMERED !

You cannot keep running on these BIG hogs !

Sooner or later this was going to happen !

Hope Moniz is alright as that was a Jack Tatum Hit !

  275. postmanke September 2, 2010 7:42 pm

you’re already bigger, stronger.. why you gotta cheat!

  276. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:42 pm

Don’t risk further injury to Moniz, get Brent in there.

  277. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:43 pm

NO cheap shot just a BIG hit !

  278. Steve September 2, 2010 7:44 pm

Talk about cheap shot artist, that is the USC players, that is for sure!!!

  279. postmanke September 2, 2010 7:44 pm

we’re running over USC.. exit Slauson before you get to USC, get your tacos and head to Westwood.. telling you this is NACHO average USC team!

  280. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:46 pm

    Soup!!

  281. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:46 pm

    Is USC giving up? 😉

  282. Steve September 2, 2010 7:46 pm

    RainbowCliff:

You must need glasses, very thick ones at that!!!

  283. G (China) September 2, 2010 7:47 pm

    TOUCH DOWN FOR REAL!!

  284. Steve September 2, 2010 7:49 pm

The one redemption I have, if UH can do this to USC, wait till they start playing their conference teams, they are going to get steam rolled.

  285. Matt September 2, 2010 7:50 pm

    Defense!!! Defense!!! Defense!!!

  286. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 7:53 pm

USC #17 should’ve been ejected for that cheap forearm shot to the head.

And what are we doing on defense against the pass? We keep giving up big play after big play… as if we’ve never seen pass plays before.

  287. Steve September 2, 2010 7:53 pm

Who will be the next Defensive Coordinator???

  288. Shoko September 2, 2010 7:53 pm

USC’s defense is questionable, for sure. How you going to let a team thats not even ranked in the top 100 score 23 points on you.

  289. TrojanCliff September 2, 2010 7:55 pm

    Go USC

  290. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 7:57 pm

#284… Steve… that goes both ways… Being this successful (on offense) against USC should give our team added confidence for the rest of the season. We just gotta clean up our defense. And here we thought our defense was gonna be our strength. Man…

  291. University Of Hawaii September 2, 2010 7:57 pm

[…] The Warrior Beat| UH Football, University Of Hawaii Athletics We should have no problem scheduling teams that love recruiting in Hawaii in the middle of the season. Who would not want to come to one of the top recruiting grounds in the country to try and poach a few top prospects? […]

  292. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 7:58 pm

Steve ! you need to wake up to REALITY as the

other die hard bloggers who refuse to give USC

    it’s respect !

I told you this will happen and all you want to do

    is whime and complain !

Be happy that you are competing and don’t let

Moniz back in the game !

42 to 23 as more scoring is coming !

  293. Pcwarrior September 2, 2010 8:00 pm

I’m very impressed with USC’s offense but defense needs to catch up to the offense. Only a matter if time. But I’m very impressed with our offensive line!! Didn’t give up that many sacks as we all thought they would with this all American defensive front seven… Good things to look forward to this year!!!

  294. TrojanCliff September 2, 2010 8:03 pm

With alumni like Cliff expounding USC’s virtues, who needs enemies! Go USC!

  295. Westwoodke September 2, 2010 8:03 pm

2nd string QB picking apart USC?

  296. Shoko September 2, 2010 8:07 pm

So far Hawaii has produced 488 yards on offense. I think they are doing well.

  297. Westwoodke September 2, 2010 8:09 pm

..I take that back UH program CAN compete in the Pac 10 …very good stuff tonight!

  298. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 8:09 pm

… and none of these announcers want to talk about UH, and how the WAC is falling apart. All they keep harping on is how USC has to work to overcome all these sanctions and whatnot.

  299. postmanke September 2, 2010 8:12 pm

just kidding RainbowCliff.. just some early trash talking to get the season going.. USC looks good.. suspect, but good!

  300. Pcwarrior September 2, 2010 8:13 pm

I agree nothing good about UH only the problems USC is going thru…. Oh well, another example of how the rich get richer

  301. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 8:13 pm

Respect USC to the utmost !

Alumni has nothing to do with it !

Trojan Cliff is one of you losing bloggers

who change and disguise their names and taking

a lost like this hurts your feelings !

U of H not putting no money in my pocket

as I do more for them academically as upper

campus don’t care for your athletics !

This game is over as really you played the

Trojans better then you ever played them before !

Get ready for Army and feel good offensively that

will be your strength for this coming season !

  302. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 8:14 pm

#297… and imagine if we were in that conference, with those 4- and 5-star recruits, BCS money, top-of-the-line facilities, and overall better competition week after week… we’d only get better.

#294… I am kinda confused too… thought he was cheering for UH until the game started. Seems like he’s more pro-USC now.

No matter… we love our Warriors, and I still foresee a great season, overall. Offensive line did a decent job… we just gotta learn how to wrap up and tackle!!!

  303. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 8:17 pm

    Good scrimmage…

  304. TrojanCliff September 2, 2010 8:18 pm

“U of H not putting any money in my pocket”

What a profund statement from a alumni!

  305. Shoko September 2, 2010 8:19 pm

Relax, Cliff. No ones is disrespecting USC. These are just observations. 😉

  306. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 8:26 pm

Postmanke not hurt at all with the trash talk !

I knew coming in this game that USC was GOOD and

that the Warriors would have to play the game of

    their lives !

Still weak in the red zone and defense was just over

wealm by a SUPERIOR balance offensive Trojan team !

Hawaii offense can put points on the board BUT defense

wins CHAMPIOSHIPS and until you get better in that area

it will be a NERVOUS season !

Will be with you through out this season as in reality

need to leave the boys of Troy ALONE !

  307. Shoko September 2, 2010 8:27 pm

    SWEEEEET!! TD!!!!!!!!!

  308. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 8:27 pm

    As Alan Ladd once said…

    “Shane! Come back Shane1”

    Come back kid, ne?

  309. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 8:28 pm

Shoko ! you relax and start jumping as Hawaii just scored !

  310. G (China) September 2, 2010 8:28 pm

TOUCH DOWN!! I’ve been impressed with Mack’s adjustment. Good move not bringing in Moniz and giving Austin a chance!

  311. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 8:28 pm

    !

  312. Shoko September 2, 2010 8:29 pm

Rausch? A giant has awaken? He looks good so far.

  313. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 8:30 pm

I haven’t really heard much disrespect for USC on this blog. The announcers are constantly reminding all of us how great the gap is between the haves and have-nots.

Nice pass by Austin. Looks like much of the same defensive players for USC. Good that we scored at least 30 against them… so far…

  314. Matt September 2, 2010 8:31 pm

I will say that I’m very impressed with Barkley. 18-23, 257 yards, 5 TDs, 0 Int. Moniz did okay for us too. I’m satisfied with the way our O-line performed, but a little disappointed in our secondary and D-Line. Those were supposed to be the strengths of our defense, but they certainly didn’t appear to be in this game.

  315. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 8:34 pm

    #304; Don’t hide like a coward disguising names !

Don’t worry about my profound statement as some one like

you is nothing but a “LOSER” !

Get a life and some kala and help your Warriors !

What is it now 49 to 30 and all you want to do

is find fault with me as I am not your problem

    LOSER you are !

  316. Shoko September 2, 2010 8:35 pm

I have high hopes for Sampson. He just has to find the hole and breakaway. If he can do that he’s gone. 🙂

  317. Michal Schrandt September 2, 2010 8:39 pm

I really appreciate this post very informative. by the way the rss feed is not working.

  318. postmanke September 2, 2010 8:40 pm

after this week USC’s defense will be ranked somewhere near the bottom..

  319. Shoko September 2, 2010 8:42 pm

    Well, at least their secondary.

  320. Pcwarrior September 2, 2010 8:43 pm

Spread them out and throw deep!!!!

  321. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 8:43 pm

Offensive line for UH is awesome…

now if we can tweak our defense…

BC said Hawaii’s 500-plus yardage game

will make Lane Kiffen angry with his defense…

So he is going to get angry at his Dad?

  322. G (China) September 2, 2010 8:43 pm

TOUCH DOWN AGAIN!! PILARES HAVING A BIG NIGHT

  323. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 8:44 pm

USC secondary needs a lot of work as running the ball and clock out

will be their best bet to get out of Honolulu with a win !

Credit to Hawaii never giving up and ALL players playing for pride !

  324. postmanke September 2, 2010 8:47 pm

Good Job USC… Better Job Warriors! should be a fun season.. hope Bryant is ok!

  325. Pcwarrior September 2, 2010 8:47 pm

Rainbow Cliff… I enjoy your posts and your dedication to your community…. Please don’t take this seriously and to heart!!! You are an asset to this blog and to our school!

  326. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 8:48 pm

3rd and FIFTEEN with no stopping Gable as that

    just say’s it all !

  327. Pcwarrior September 2, 2010 8:50 pm

    Finally A mention if Hawaii

  328. postmanke September 2, 2010 8:50 pm

we really scored 40 against a USC team.. 40!

  329. Shoko September 2, 2010 8:52 pm

Good job, Warriors! 588 yards offensively and 459 yards passing. You can compete with the big boys!

  330. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 8:52 pm

So per Pomai list, Protector wins…sort of…

    48 – 28 protector

  331. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 8:53 pm

    Pray for Bradley and Moniz…

  332. G (China) September 2, 2010 8:54 pm

Offense played well enough to win. However, dropped passes could have been huge turn around in the score. Take away special team plays and the big plays, HI did really well. Proud of the HOME TEAM. Lot to build off on.

  333. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 8:57 pm

Offense needs to keep it going throughout the season. Good first game to build off of. Hope Moniz is okay to go next week. We out-gained USC on total offense, and actually went over a hundred yards rushing! Just too many Field Goals instead of Touchdowns.

Defense needs a ton of work. Poor tackling, losing containment, poor pass coverage, just… ugh!… not a good game. Although we gained more yards than USC, we still gave up a ton. Especially harmful were those big third-down conversions. We gotta come up with more stops.

Special teams were so-so. We gotta do better and not give up huge returns… especially touchdowns!

Still, overall, a decent showing for a first game against a marquee opponent. Lots to look forward to this year!

    Go, Warriors!!!

  334. postmanke September 2, 2010 8:58 pm

We gave the USC defense an Ass Kiffin! We can win every WAC game!

  335. G (China) September 2, 2010 9:00 pm

3am here…it was worth watching! good night warrior fans! lot’s to look forward too.

  336. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 9:00 pm

    Pc Warrior !

I don’t take anything that you folks say to HEART !

Now when you have an individual who DISRESPECTS

I will let him know where he can get off as this bolg has

a lot of blind blog names that come out with only intentions

to degrade and TRY to shame you !

I am to strong for that game as I will continue to support

UH regardless of the blind stabbers you have on this blog !

Have a good evening and I know where you can get the

BIG receivers that USC has “right in my back yard of South Central” !

  337. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 9:03 pm

Funny how… this was an ESPN broadcast, and the announcers seemed to have been forbidden to talk about the disintegrating WAC. They kept reminding us of USC’s sanctions far too often tonight, with no mention of how Hawaii could be without a conference in a couple of short years, and how BSU, Fresno State, and Nevada just bailed on the conference. And someone tell that other guy Greg Alexander’s last name is not Anderson… and to stop calling our football team the Rainbow Warriors?! That ended eons ago. And who is “Pirales”?

  338. Pcwarrior September 2, 2010 9:04 pm

Proud of the WARRIORS!!! Offensively, very potent….. Defensively, much work but played inspired football but I could tell which team had more 5 star athletes.. Very hard played game , nothing to hang out heads about!!!! Wr won’t see athletes like this for the rest of the season!!!! GO WARRIORS!!!!

  339. Garret September 2, 2010 9:06 pm

UH’s OL played very well against probably the best DL they will face this season.

Special teams gave up a huge punt return for a TD–it looked to me like the coverage let up because the returner was surrounded and one UH player ran right by the returner before he caught the ball.

Red Zone offense looked good on paper (I think UH was 3-3), but the 2 FGs in the first 2 times in the red zone changed the game.

UH’s offense moved the ball *extremely* well against USC’s D.

UH’s defense did not seem to stop USC all game. It felt like the only times USC didn’t score a TD were when they fumbled or when they had 2 drives hurt with a penalty.

A *lot* of big dropped passes also changed the game.

Bad tackling on D. Really bad on some plays. That will improve after this game, a team seems to make its biggest improvement between its first and second games.

Lots of positives to take from this game. UH’s offense did extremely well. UH’s OL was the biggest positive to me. All 3 QBs had positive moments. Pilares did an amazing job running after the catch. Pollard also.

Biggest negative are all the injuries that UH had. If Moniz has a concussion does he miss the road trip? I saw at least 2 other key players go off with what looked like injuries and UH will need them.

I’m glad that UH has 2 extra days to prepare for Army since that game is huge for UH’s bowl chances.

  340. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 9:06 pm

If it is 3am in China, what time is it in Michigan???

  341. G (China) September 2, 2010 9:06 pm

FORGOT TO GIVE MY PROPS TO THE O-LINE. They really showed up!!

  342. Pcwarrior September 2, 2010 9:07 pm

Re336: I wish those BIG receivers would look at our program…. Who knows maybe one day… Maybe we could get rid of those small receiver comments from ESPN. Although the smallest receiver we have made the biggest impact… Pilares great game!

  343. madeinhawaii September 2, 2010 9:08 pm

Dropped balls and poor coverage cost us the game. Mostly those big plays that USC had one or two plays after Hawaii made a touchdown simply killed any momentum Hawaii had. Gotta play punts and kickoff returns better… our players simply overran their positions. Bad call on Salas catch near the goal..I thought it was a touchdown or that the ball should have been placed on the 1 foot line..

BUT overall the offense played well.. they scored each time in the red zone (FG or TD). Awesome..

Defense will be much better come the next game… Hopefully Moniz will be back by then. Warriors can sweep their remaining games playing like they did with just a few tweaks on defense.

If Moniz can play next week.. and our two Oline players come back before the WAC season starts, we will be one heck of a spoiler in the WAC… Whooo hoo!

    WARRIOR FOOTBALL ROCKS!

    MW,

I think because everything is to up-in-the-air they didn’t want to speculate on the future of the WAC. The game was the focus and I think the Warriors did a great job. I’m going to sleep with no problem tonight. I was really impressed with the Warriors play tonight. Go WARRIORS!

  345. Garret September 2, 2010 9:09 pm

The biggest winner from this game is Hawaii’s economy. This is an example of the importance of athletics to Hawaii’s economy.

“In 2005, when USC was here they brought about 4,000 people. It contributed over $6 million in economic impact,” said Michael Story of the Hawaii Tourism Authority.

This year the projection is even higher at upwards of $10 million.

  346. Garret September 2, 2010 9:11 pm

    MichiganWarrior,

ESPN owns the rights to WAC games…they probably don’t want their announcers to put down the WAC.

  347. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 9:15 pm

Warriors played the BEST I ever seen them played against USC !

Definetly, you can put points on the board BUT defensively

    got to get better !

Will go out tomorrow and scout for you as FAST & BIG defensive line men

you need with BIGGER corner backs that can HIT and Tackle with speed !

5 star athletes are here in LA as Dorsey, Inglewood, Fremont and Crenshaw

are LOADED with young defensive studs as little brothers and sisters go to

    my after school progam !

Good night folks and pleasant dreams !

  348. Michigan Warrior September 2, 2010 9:16 pm

It’s 3:21 am here now… time to go to sleep… gotta be up in a few short hours.

#346… Garret… You could tell that subject was taboo to them.

  349. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 9:16 pm

Feel sorry for Rausch, but he will still be needed if

Moniz can’t play and, God forbid, Shane gets injured…

So Rausch chin up and practice hard.

  350. greenthumb September 2, 2010 9:17 pm

The team can be proud, the players left everything on the field, both the starters and the relievers. If we’d had 5 or 10 more minutes, who knows? My thoughts are with Bryant Moniz and hoping that he is all right. And to the refs — should have taken a little longer on that TD review to have seen that Salas’ first contact with the ground was his hand, his first grounding contact was after the ball broke the plane. I guess we can get our satisfaction for Kiffen’s “nothing” comment at the hands of his conference-mates, since the Trojans don’t look unbeatable.

  351. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 9:19 pm

Coach said Rodney Bradley was spittin out blood…

    Maybe his spleen?

  352. Garret September 2, 2010 9:25 pm

    Ipu Man,

That is bad news about Bradley. Have their been updates on Moniz and Letuli?

  353. Garret September 2, 2010 9:28 pm

This article mentions some of the things that UH fans were yelling at USC. USC is going to hear this and much worse as the season goes along.

“Where’s Reggie Bush! Where’s Reggie Bush!”

The catcalls began early, storm clouds rolling through a blue and billowy island afternoon, two guys in the second row of Aloha Stadium reminding the USC football team that it was embarking on a different sort of journey.

“Hey No. 7, you gonna be at the national championship game? You gonna be watching it like everyone else? Huh?”

“Hey Kiffin, sing ‘Rocky Top’ for us! C’mon Kiffin! A little ‘Rocky Top!’ “

  354. kama krab September 2, 2010 9:28 pm

    Howzit Everybody,

All I can say is good game today. If not for a couple of bad calls on overturned plays and a little better coverage it would have been different story.

One more thing USC is no longer the same team no matter what they say or anyone else says. USC will get hurt big time in the Pac-10 if they play the way they did today no doubt about it.

Oh and one more thing, that hit to Moniz was a big time cheap shot and if you don’t think so, you nothing about football. There is a fine line between a clean shot and a cheap shot. With the Safety getting off the group and leaning with his forearm to the head, that is totally a cheap shot. If anyone wants to challenge my opinion you can give me a call and I can have my Intermediate Linebackers show you the difference.

  355. greenthumb September 2, 2010 9:29 pm

#346 and #348, they sure kept it open season on the refs, which was noticeable because the negative sentences usually included the word WAC.

  356. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 9:29 pm

Hi Garret, no, coach didn’t mention much about Moniz and

nothing on Letuli. I myself was worried about Meatonga…

But prayers for all of the players…

btw, a friend of mine who had his spleen removed went

on to play college and military football with no problem

tho it has to be operated on wiki wiki…

  357. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 9:37 pm

BC and RK said Letuli’s injury appears to be just a leg cramp

but that they do not really know yet…

  358. kama krab September 2, 2010 9:39 pm

    You know what,

RainbowCliff you are one of my braddahs on this blog but I gotta tell you straight up as a man, your beloved USC just dogged one of the biggest bullets ever. Like I mentioned earlier, USC is no longer USC. Lane Kiffin knows it and so do there fans. At the end of the game I had a conversation with a bunch of USC people and the only thing that came out there mouths was “This team needs A LOT of work”. If you think that is a vote of confidence then you must be smoking something. Like I said, you is one solid braddah but USC is not what it use to be and it will not get better anytime soon so please get off your high horse and please take a taste of humble pie because I know USC has just taken a big bite of that delicious pie.

  359. Garret September 2, 2010 9:40 pm

    Ipu Man,

I didn’t see Meatoga’s injury and didn’t realize he was injured! He is a leader that would really hurt UH if he had to miss significant time due to injury.

I hope that the injury report looks much better in the morning than what it feels like now. At least the Warriors have 2 extra days to heal up before the next game.

  360. greenthumb September 2, 2010 9:40 pm

#354, still wondering why there was not a penalty. At the least.

  361. Steve September 2, 2010 9:41 pm

USC will have alot of difficulty in their conference. Diffinitely not a top 25 team. They will be lucky to end up in the top tier of their conference, let alone finish above .500.

  362. Garret September 2, 2010 9:42 pm

    kama krab,

USC’s D was already bad last season and it clearly has not improved. They knew in training camp that they were going to have an inexperienced secondary and UH really made them look bad.

On the other hand, USC could have made the score look worse if they had left the first string offense on the field all game. That offense looks amazing–power rushing, speed rushing, and that QB can make every throw.

  363. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 9:43 pm

I wonder if UH should hire a professional local PR company

to get some favorable publicity for UH from New York

to California to help us with our WAC problems and

also for positive recruiting…as usually our late night games

don’t make the next day newspapers nor sports tv talk.

  364. kama krab September 2, 2010 9:45 pm

    greenthumb #360,

I was wondering the same thing. Totally a penalty.

Oh and I beat if Hawaii would have done the same thing, the flag would have flown out of all the officials pockets. It’s just one of those reactionary things, Hawaii (flag) USC (turn the other way and make like nothing happened). That’s just the way it goes sometimes, but I’m really happy with some of the things I saw today.

  365. expat September 2, 2010 9:46 pm

Encouraging game. Congratulations to the players and coaches for playing hard all the way and not hanging their heads when things did not go their way. It reminded me of some of the older June Jones era games where the Offense put up great numbers but the D just couldn’t stop anything and the game turned on a few plays. I kind of recall a Timmy Chang game in Boise that was like that.

Anyway, the O line really brought it. There were some sacks but I think three were really coverage sacks. Shane Austin really has a touch. Moniz played well but he still lacks touch on the deeper routes. Bob Davie said one intelligent thing tonight, which was that the UH offense is going to cause some problems this year. Hanging 588 yards on USC is a good start to the season. After some jitters the red zone offense looked more confident.

That had to be some of the worst officiating I have ever seen. I commend the Coach for not ripping the ref’s head off.

How is it that no one at ESPN can pronounce “Pilares?” Too many vowels strung together? Too Samoan? I mean, c’mon.

  366. kama krab September 2, 2010 9:49 pm

    Garret #362

I respect your opinion but I really think that it would have been a back a forth game whether they kept there first string in or not. As you said, USC D did not look good at all, so I feel that Hawaii would have just came back and went score for score with them all the way as they did.

  367. Bigislandkurt September 2, 2010 9:49 pm

Hats off to the Warriors for takin’ it to USC like that! They made a good showing on National TV. Pilares was off da chains! I just hope Mo’s injury will not keep him out next week against Army. We got a lot to look forward too gang! I hope we beat the pulp out of Army.

    BIK

  368. Steve September 2, 2010 9:50 pm

    Expat:

You would have thought, the game was being played in the coliseum, cause they ESPN only should USC fans and players, rare showing UH players, or Hawaii fans.

  369. curveball September 2, 2010 9:52 pm

Just got home from the game…my biggest thoughts are we really need corner backs…these two don’t like to hit and don’t know how to cover…and the defense was totally confused pretty much the whole game looking at the coach even as the ball was being snapped several times..praying for the injured… but, I loved being there.

  370. Garret September 2, 2010 9:53 pm

The Army game is huge for UH now. Army hasn’t had a winning season since 1996 and UH needs the win to build on the momentum from this game. Win at Army and UH will have a lot of momentum for the Colorado game. Lose and the Colorado game looms as a difficult one…and we have to worry about how many UH fans will show up for the D-IAA game after the team gets back. It sure seems that the crowds would be a lot bigger if the team wins one of both of the road games.

Hopefully the injuries aren’t bad and UH can deal with the travel. Army will have extra motivation with the things they will do to commemorate 9/11 before the game. However, they will not have better athletes than USC and UH showed they can move the ball against USC.

  371. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 9:55 pm

A Maui fan won the Young’s Fish Market gift certificate

from BC and RK…wonder if he can take fish through

    airport security ok?…

  372. papajoe2 September 2, 2010 9:57 pm

42,000 at the stadium? Looked like a lot of empty seats on TV. Especially in the orange section. Anyone know the announced attendance?

  373. Garret September 2, 2010 9:58 pm

    kama krab,

I agree with you that UH would have kept scoring and the game would have gone back and forth. However, the drive early in the 4th that USC was stopped was with their 2nd/3rd string…when they put their 1st string in on the next drive I think they scored on one play.

I thought that USC was crazy for putting in their backups with so much time left in the 4th quarter because it was clear to me that USC’s D couldn’t stop UH. The game got really tight when USC didn’t score and UH did, and then USC had to rush their starters back into the game.

It sure was fun seeing UH move the ball so well against USC! If the red zone hadn’t been a problem in the first half, and that punt return TD hadn’t happened, UH might have won the game.

  374. papajoe2 September 2, 2010 10:00 pm

The lady on the sideline for ESPN never went on the Hawaii side and never interviewed Hawaii coaches or players.

  375. Pcwarrior September 2, 2010 10:04 pm

I agree BIK, onto Army. Hopefully we can repeat what we did to Navy last year. Similar offenses and such…. Good luck and healing up this week!! GO WARRIORS!!!

  376. Ipu Man September 2, 2010 10:04 pm

    10 pm…vewy vewy sleepy

    Good night all.

  377. kama krab September 2, 2010 10:08 pm

    Garret #373,

    No doubt,

It was one crazy game and what USC did by bring in there 2nd/3rd just showed a false sense of security and also showed that there coach is one cocky a**.

With regards to the punt return for the TD,

I felt that the gunner should have just hit the kick returner and take the penalty because the crowd was going natz and could have given the boys that little extra to maybe get a stop.

  378. Da Punchbowl Kid September 2, 2010 10:10 pm

The “non touchdown” ruling was really questionable and the brazen cheap shot on Moniz by that thug #17 for USC was a sad sight to see. Why wasn’t there a flag on that play?

I have a lot of respect for our Warriors! I hope they realize just how good they can be after this game!

USC had the horses, but Hawaii has the heart!

    Prayers for the injured Warriors.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  379. cocobean September 2, 2010 10:15 pm

Great game. Just wished the linebackers showed up a little more.

  380. Annoddah Dave September 2, 2010 10:22 pm

    ST & Tsaiko Blog Dogs,

A game upon which the Warriors can build. No doubt the USC team is loaded with athletes. O line did better than I expected. D line held for the most part. The Warrior band got to play the Alma Mater!!!!!

    Go Warriors!

  381. curveball September 2, 2010 10:24 pm

My positives are..receivers did well after first quarter..O Line looked good..Alex and Chizzy both looked good…Silva looks good..punting was great..field goals perfect(kick offs ???) ..

    and the tailgate was unreal…

  382. kama krab September 2, 2010 10:24 pm

As I call it a night,

All I gotta say is good game boys. There is still a lot to work on but I am very confident that things will work out this season. Very strong showing for the most part on offense, just gotta work on the defense. Control the big plays and we should be fine. Once again good game boys and just keep working hard.

  383. curveball September 2, 2010 10:28 pm

    also..NO TURNOVERS…

  384. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 10:31 pm

    karma krab !

A win is a win and the Warriors need not only work DEFENSIVELY but you need to step up in your recruiting areas and start getting some STUDS like you did one time in Hawaii Rainbow Warrior Football History !

I don’t need to smoke on nothing as frankly you are very LUCKY that you came out like you did with a young inexperience secondary that USC has and will get better as years go by BECAUSE they are freshmen !

USC has helped you out considerably by bringing their RICH alumni to bring money to your economy and their football rather you like it or not “BEAT YOU” as some how through your misguided loyalty with others you can’t recognize that !

Very fortunate you got out of this game with some injuries as those “cheap shots” you and other claims are what BIG time hitters do as that is what Hawaii needs BIG time hitters not your jc or local boy players who can’t tackle or put a hurt on the opponent !

You can call it what you want BUT the bottom line you LOST no matter what the score or how you feel USC is weak this year as they came in with ONE thing in mine to WIN and they did just that in your HOUSE against your team, coaches, fans and referees !

I am no LOYALIST to Hawaii athletics as you and the many bloggers here are and I don’t fault you for that. I am a sport purist who enjoy watching soild teams and USC is just that a solid team with tradition and BIG money to back them !

Now IF the Warriors can find a conference or better yet go INDEPENDENT as playing Sac State, UC davis, cal poly or Montana State sounds good to you then get ready for Division II football as that is where you are going and that sir is SAD, VERY SAD !

USC will always be a top division 1 team with a competitive conference as the question will be where is Hawaii and what will become of them ?

That sir needs to be answer as USC will continue their D-1 football, will the Warriors continue theirs ?

  385. cocobean September 2, 2010 10:33 pm

The offense had a brand new look. Was this Mouse’s doing or Rolo’s? Still the run and shoot but out of the pistol formation. The defense had to respect the run which helped slow down the pass rush.

  386. OldDiver September 2, 2010 10:38 pm

    USC’s secondary weren’t just inexperienced,they were slow.

  387. Da Punchbowl Kid September 2, 2010 10:39 pm

    cocobean-

The pistol look seemed to help the running game.

  388. Da Punchbowl Kid September 2, 2010 10:41 pm

I hope Moniz and Bradley are okay. Anybody else hurt from the Warriors?

  389. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 10:48 pm

#386: Call it what you want inexperience or slow they still did what they came over to do “WIN” and that is the bottom line !

Until you WIN then you can talk as no body tomorrow will want to know how COURAGEOUS Hawaii played and how they scored the most points on USC this year as that don’t matter !

All that matters did you WIN as the Trojans did and the Warriors didn’t !

    CASE CLOSE !

  390. protector September 2, 2010 10:49 pm

    Ipu Man 0n #330,

I was nowhere close. I had UH winning 48-28, NOT USC. For awhile I dreamed I had a shot. But

receivers dropped too many of Moniz’ on-the-money passes and other times he might’ve thrown slightly behind or led too much. Shane Austin was “money”, though. He was just razor-sharp which again leads to my query of how Rausch beat Austin out.Was he sensational on the practice field. He just doesn’t seem to be a gamer like Austin under the bright lights.

  391. OldDiver September 2, 2010 10:50 pm

Chill out, USC won we know it.

  392. RedZone September 2, 2010 10:50 pm

Like I said before huge game for Pilares. And this is just the beginning.

Great job oline. I hope Pepa is okay. Looked like cramps hope it wasn’t hammy. It was not the same without him in there.

    Chizzy made em dizzy.

My biggest concern was tackling. Just need to do a better job.

My biggest surprise. Offense is way ahead of the defense.

  393. RedZone September 2, 2010 10:53 pm

Austin has more game experience than Rausch. Rausch needs more PT before anyone should judge him.

  394. protector September 2, 2010 10:58 pm

    RainbowCliff,

You disappoint me with your statement that the USC player put a “big hit” on Moniz and that it wasn’t a cheap-shot. The hit looked like the scene in the Longest Yard when Richard Kiel clotheslines the Guard. I thouight it was more like a forearm shiver/blow to the head and last time I checked, that’s not a legal tackle or clean hit. Should Bronson Tiwanak have started cracking USC helmets using his kempo? Would you have acknowledged them as big (clean) hits, too? C’mon Cliff, it isn’t whining or complaining to point out the obvious.

  395. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 10:59 pm

    #392 Don’t be TESTY as I am chilled !

Get ready for Army as all they are going to do is RUN

the ball as your Defense will be TESTED again with

    hopefully better results !

  396. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 11:12 pm

    Protector !

Football here in LA is played by BIG hitters and IF it was a “cheap shot” like you and others claim then why was their no flag as the officials were right on the play and not ONE went into their pocket to throw it out !

USC tacklers are taught to HIT hard and seperate the ball carrier from the ball as that is why they have tremendous attention to them coming draft time. Moniz like all running quaterbacks are going to learn to slide when they get out into the open field as IT was bound to happen with him running on the Trojans as he did tonight with USC defenders waiting for a chance to ring his clock as they did just that.

Sorry you feel dissapointed as I KNOW how USC are taught to play BIG and PHYSICAL

with a prescence that you leave on your opponent and that is exactly what happen !

  397. haka September 2, 2010 11:12 pm

Well, all I can say is someone really showed his colors tonight…and it ain’t green!

  398. protector September 2, 2010 11:13 pm

Questions for the coaches and former players on the blog:

    1) Why did UH choose to punt instead of going for it when they were on the USC 39 or 40 on

4th down? I thought the intent was to have Dunnachie try to angle it down inside the

10, but they did a regular punt (which ended up as around an 80 yard touchdown).

    2) Because of the USC receivers speed, why didn’t our corners jam the receivers at the line

immediately to throw off their timing? They would almost always retreat and the wide-outs

burned them every time. (If our senior DBs are going to play like that then can I lobby for

Hardy-Tuilau and Poueu-Luna to start their careers now?)

  399. curveball September 2, 2010 11:14 pm

  400. OldDiver September 2, 2010 11:21 pm

    Oh My!

  401. Cassatt September 2, 2010 11:22 pm

@#384 and 390 – You don’t “fault us for [UH loyalty]” on a blog titled “The Warrior Beat?” Seriously? This is not “The Trojan Beat”. RainbowCliff, what’s wrong with you lately – you sure were on the UH bandwagon when times were good during the 2007 “perfect” season. Fair weather fan of your own alma mater – sad.

You know, I was worried before that your past posting about potential high school fb players you wanted UH to recruit were potential NCAA violations – but since you’ve shown you are in no way, shape or form an actual UH booster, I guess I worried for nothing.

  402. OldDiver September 2, 2010 11:23 pm

I believe our corners are too small to jam their receivers.

  403. d1島 September 2, 2010 11:23 pm

    Things to like:

    – Pistol Look. Gives Green/Dimude the ability to get a better look before getting the ball and is already running downhill when he gets it. Also like Bob Davie said it helps the pass pro by not tipping their hand pre-snap.

    – Play calling. Rolo stretched the field early and often and that opened it up for the slots in the middle.

    – Welcome back to the inside Kealoha Pilares! SC matched up Salas with their Frosh phenom Nickel, Nickell which left them exposed trying to cover Pilares with a LB or a S….176 yards and 3 TD’s later and it’s Welcome Back Kealoha!

    – O-line. Better, much better. If this was really the best DL they will face all year then get used to setting your DVR’s for some extra recording time…the offense going light it up! Hopefully, the unit will gel now that they know they can play because they going start seeing a lot of junk thrown at them from here on….doubt that many others on the schedule will be dropping seven.

  404. RainbowCliff September 2, 2010 11:24 pm

    Protector !

You once had BIG hitters like USC !

The Noga Brothers, Semeri Ulufale, Tom Tueni, Dana McClemore,

Pat Schmidt, Verlon Redd, Karl Kennybrew etc. as I remember them

putting BIG LICKINGS on the opponents !

You are now all OFFENSE with no clue to BIG time defense as that

WINS ball games as all that offensive glitter is not gold !

Until you improve defensively it is going to be a long and frustrating season

as Boise State, Colorado, Fresno State can score and out scoring your opponent

is a TOUGH way to win !

You need BIG time defenders from BIG time schools who are BIG and athletic and

    can tackle and HIT !

  405. OldDiver September 2, 2010 11:25 pm

The punt I thought was perfect, the coverage was bad, not to mention the returner was strong shifty and fast.

  409. protector September 2, 2010 11:30 pm

    RainbowCliff,

That’s your evidence it was a clean play?..that the refs didn’t call it? Come on. Years ago Boise State stole a win from UH in this same stadium because one gutless/ soulless/ conscience-less ref refused to call it when Omega Hogan was tackled from behind as he was about to get the punt returner. The ref pulled the flag out of his pocket, looked around, then stuck it back..allowing the punt returner to go for 86 yards and a TD (rather than having the ball inside their own 10-yard line). In the Sugar Bowl, refs conspired to give Georgia the advantage by not calling encroachment / off-sides against them. Everybody thought the edge rushers were just so superior to Hawaii when so many times they were just plain off-sides. They were quietly reprimanded and then later excluded from officiating a number of games the next season. as I remember. There are times when a non-call is the just thing to do. There are times like these that a non-call is CRIMINAL and the epitome of injustice. Liked the leg-whip last year and some of the head-hunting helmet hits some of our players took the last couple of years, with no penalty to the opponents.

“Warriors played the BEST I ever seen them played against USC !”

“Definetly, you can put points on the board BUT defensively

    got to get better !”

“All that matters did you WIN as the Trojans did and the Warriors didn’t !”

    RainbowCliff,

I don’t teach English 101. I teach 11th Grade English at a local high school.

My school’s name is Kapolei High School. That is the hole I am from. It is the same hole where your Trojans practiced at yesterday. By the way, in your post you spelled it Kopolei. Thanks for the shout out I think.

I sit in the Blue Section Letter K.

    Row 28

    Seats 3-4.

It’s not a word you spell.

Not MAD at no one BUT I will stand on my opinion as you kind sir and the other bloggers do the same as what kind of life it would be IF we all agreed !

  425. OldDiver September 2, 2010 11:59 pm

I thought we were going to play a more up tempo game on offense. If somebody gets the chance can you ask Coach about that?

  426. ak2 September 3, 2010 12:02 am

    Rainbow Cliff:

Nothing personal, but your posts are tiresome and really, really difficult to understand. And your spelling is atrocious.

Moreover, why post here, at the WARRIOR BEAT, if you just want to talk about how wonderful the Trojans are, and how terrible Hawai’i’s team played. It seems like you just want to walk into our locker room to gloat. Well, you can gloat all you want, but it shows us your juvenile character.

  427. wowlaulau September 3, 2010 12:04 am

If you want to talk about how great USC is go to a USC blog or forum. lol

  436. Pride. September 3, 2010 12:12 am

Every football game we face for the rest of this season will be tougher than the one we had today. Warriors need to go back to the drawing board, consider today a good scrimmage and get ready for the rest of the season. The rest of teams that we play this year will be better prepared than the one that we played today.

  437. curveball September 3, 2010 12:16 am

GG USC. It was the most exciting game i’ve seen in person since 07. both teams showed talent and the want to win. i just might make it through this and next week now that i finally got my UH sports fix.

  443. Curt September 3, 2010 12:24 am

Austin really played well. But can someone enlighten me on why Rausch was replaced? At the time, it seemed to me he was playing well. If I recall correctly, he only had one incomplete pass; and that one incompletion was almost a spectacular highlight catch in the end zone.

  444. lil.s September 3, 2010 12:26 am

444:rausch got rocked small kine on the should have been called a TD pass to bradley.

  448. OMG September 3, 2010 12:29 am

    RainbowCliff,

I spoke with maybe a dozen USC supporters tonight, before and after the game. Please note that no one, not one of these USC supporters talked the trash you put before us here on the WARRIOR BLOG! They were all great fans that were respectful and humble…humble….respectful and did I say humble?

  449. Pride. September 3, 2010 12:31 am

Gotta win two out of the three phases. Kicking and offense or kicking and defense. Didn’t see the stats, so not sure where we stood in these areas.

  450. haka September 3, 2010 12:33 am

Unlike some postings on the blog tonight, a lot of positives from the game.

  457. RainbowCliff September 3, 2010 12:40 am

#442 OMG Good night and I will be calling on you for grammer and spelling !

  458. haka September 3, 2010 12:41 am

    Pride,

I think we win the offensive battle because nobody thought we would move the ball like that against them. 588 total yards. Second most ever (I think) put on them.

I think we lose the special teams and defensive phases.

You are so right about turnovers or the lack of them as it were. Always keeps you in the game.

  459. Nirvana September 3, 2010 12:42 am

  461. Danz808 September 3, 2010 12:47 am

    Blame the coaching!

Coach Mack lives in mediocrity. He is over payed and is a Div III coach in Div I clothing. Hawaii SHOULD have beaten this USC team. The worse one in all the years I watched them.

Com’on man! you mean to tell me you cant crush the ball in to the end zone from 5 feet or less? Really, coach? Your run defense is non existent and you have a very PREDICTABLE offense. You got lucky that we actually have some GAMERS on this years team. They are awesome guys and you are WASTING their talent!!

You may be nice, and really, I like you personally… But as a coach, you suck.

Last year, we had the same problems. This game is a microcosm of that season. With all the great backs on your team, why do you have no running play or passing play that can net you 5 feet in 2 or more plays??? Give me a break!

Didn’t Boise teach you anything in the last couple seasons??? No wonder they want to leave the WAC, there really is no competition here.

You never learned a thing on how to coach WINNERS. Mediocrity is your middle name.

You get paid over 1.5 million dollars to make UH football fans happy.

    I think I want a refund.

  462. OMG September 3, 2010 12:48 am

    OMG! Good nite.

  463. Pride. September 3, 2010 12:50 am

Not making excuses for the defense. But I was trying to explain to friends that it looks different on the field. If I’m a D-linemen or a linebacker, playing the likes of a USC or Wisconsin offensive line, it isn’t as easy to do as it looks on television. When you engage with the offensive linemen, they are big like redwood trees. All you see in front of you is a big white jersey. When you try to look over the linemen’s shoulder to find the ball carrier it puts you out of position from a leverage standpoint. The lineman, who outweighs you by 30-40 plus pounds then leans on you and you then are playing on your heels. You can’t see the ball carrier until he runs by you and all you feel is the wind. When you try to get off of the lineman to make the tackle, you miss because you were out of position from trying to fight off a moving redwood. Not as easy as it looks.

  464. Curt September 3, 2010 12:51 am

I checked the game stats for the Raiders. Only Gradkowski and Boller had passing stats reported.

    http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2010090265/2010/PRE4/seahawks@raiders#tab:analyze/analyze-channels:cat-post-boxscore

Looks like Colt got little if any playing time. He’s done; he’ll be sent to the practice squad or jettisoned shortly…too bad they didn’t give him much of a shot.

  465. haka September 3, 2010 12:51 am

oh man, it just never ends. please call na koa now!

    aloha

  466. Curt September 3, 2010 12:59 am

    Pride,

Thanks for the perspective. As a former player, you’ve been there and I respect your comments. Sometimes it’s difficult to listen to all of the negativity and criticism. Most are probably coming from those who never played at this level.

  467. truefan September 3, 2010 1:00 am

I am just a lurker and that cannot be the same RainbowCliff that I have watched and respected. If it is I am thoroughly dissapointed.

I thought Hawaii played one helluva game against a good team.

The RaindowCliff that I have gotten to know,by reading the blog, bleeds green, And he is a courteous and respecful person. This person, who I think is an imposter, is just dissing, he is trying to stir up a beef. He really sounds like a guy who comes on to stir up trouble, uce2.

He is not the RainbowCliff that we all know and love. I really hope not.

This person is so negative and so against Hawaii.

I just would like to finish with, we can play with anybody, our boys can play with anybody. This is the same thoughts that I have had when “our Cliff Sanchez” played.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  468. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc September 3, 2010 1:05 am

Just because someone has a degree from an accredited university does not mean that he is intelligent or has strong written communications skills. There are any number of individuals who post here that need remedial English classes. But hey! but I can’t shoot a three-pointer nor can I kick a 35-yard field goal so I guess we’re even.

There are a number of people whose posts I regularly read while there are others I have to skip over because their (lack of) basic writing skills are too difficult to decipher. For example, not knowing the difference between brake & break or they’re & there & their or it’s & its drives me bonkers.

That’s what happens to people who are former English teachers & editors.

Back to tonight’s game – starting with the positives: Very few penalties were assessed against UH tonight. The offense has the potential to be so powerful that I cannot imagine any 2010 opponents with the possible exception of Boise being able to stop them unless a lot of injuries happen. Greg Salas.

The downside: The defense. Maybe Mack ought to turn over Head Poobah duties to someone else and go back to being the Chief of Defense.

The Sometimes Good and Sometimes Not-So-Good: The Special Teams – specifically the kicking special ists (bad word if combined). The officiating. The coaching.

Off to bed – lots of work to do before heading off to The Stan for another winning Wahine match tomorrow night. Talk about spoiled!!

  469. Slugger September 3, 2010 1:09 am

Even the USC fans I sat between were complaining about the poor play of the USC players and how Kiffen didn’t have any class going for 2 pts. on a PAT. Ah, well…

Heal up, Warriors! Hope Moniz is ok. You made it a game, guys, and not a wipe out.

Shane Austin did a great job on the field moving the team. Glad his family could join us for the afternoon, and briefly after the game.

And I’m glad Allen Sampson could show people his quickness…

K, LizKauai has an early plane to catch this morning, so I’d better call it a night. Good night all!

  470. Michigan Warrior September 3, 2010 3:08 am

    #470… WDoc… Right on!!!

  471. Michigan Warrior September 3, 2010 3:14 am

If you think about it, we put up 588 total yards, gave up only a couple of sacks, committed only a smattering of penalties, and put up a big, fat goose egg on turnovers. Any other time you look at stats like these, we’re almost guaranteed a Win. We just didn’t make the defensive stops we needed to. We gave up some big plays and allowed too many 3rd-down conversions.

If this is the best we’re really gonna face this year, and we can fix our defense, look out 2010!!!

On a side note.. why’d you guys have to mention “True Colors”? Now, that Cyndi Lauper song is running through my head, over and over and over…

  472. Michigan Warrior September 3, 2010 3:20 am

#471… Slugger… Kiffin is all arrogance. He thought he could just come into Aloha Stadium and run up the score on us. Problem with that scenario… he doesn’t have the USC of old. Yes, his offense is loaded with mega-skilled kids, but his defense was exposed big time. For lowly, no-budget, no 4- or 5-star-recruits Hawaii to do what it did against them? All I can say is good luck in their quest to go undefeated and play a championship season.

There’s always the debate about “low-cost” and “pricey” going on. In my humble belief this whole query doesn’t make much common sense. For example: in exceptional cases the price for a luxury product like a sports car or a high class service like a hotel room is more than justified because of added features, better service and so on. Therefore go ahead and do not feel guilty for spending a bit more. Pleasure should be a the very best part of life.

  481. Emilio Pricer September 4, 2010 4:00 am

Compelling Feature. I believe you always obtain whatever you spend on. High-priced goods or services most of the time turn out to be more responsible, come in far better quality of components and customer support and therefore are commonly seriously worth the money. Needless to say that’s not a rule. Personally I opt for the very best in luxury product or service.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

I really liked this post. You describe this topic very well. Honesty is the most important element of the car buying procedure, and your dealers approach should be reflective of that – effortless, straightforward, and clear. Your dealership should be there to make your automobile shopping experience pleasant and hassle-free, they should be proud to offer quality new and used cars, trucks and SUVs to drivers and tend to all of your automotive needs. They should ask you to discover their collection of extraordinary vehicles that are meticulously inspected, professionally serviced and detailed, and come with flawless history reports.

My skin is better, my hair has stopped falling out, I’m sleeping better and I’m not craving sugar and not having the highs and lows like I used to. I’m not bloating and its helped with fluid retention. As a multi-vitamin, its fantastic even before you add the weight reduction. The weight is coming off slowly but is now actually coming off! My friend bought a similar product at the same time with a lot less miligrams of acai berry and noticed no change. She then tried some of mine – what a difference. Be very careful of lower doses – they don’t work. Poor food choices over the years depletes vitamin levels and we run on empty, it’s reminded me that I’m doing the best for myself with these. Great product. Thanks again.

Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

  548. Candida Infection September 9, 2010 3:36 pm

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

  589. Lorenzo Paugh September 12, 2010 8:22 am

? This information is really good and I will say will always be helpful if we try it risk free.. So if you can back it up , That will really help us all. And this might bring some good repute to you. The diet of human beings prior to the arrival of agriculture, technology and civilization is known as the Paleolithic Diet !! This Stone Age diet, in short, consisted of mainly lean red meat and vegetables. In this type of diet animal meat is consumed in large quantities and 45 to 65% of the energy needed by the body is derived from it. Over and over again, life expectancy studies related to diet, including by the World Health Organization (WHO), have concluded that Americans and Europeans would do better to eat more like third world peoples as the options provided by their additional wealth have most often lead to poor nutritional choices. This is the same basis for the USDA based their popular food pyramid in 1993 .. Researchers at Harvard have only suggested perhaps tweaking the food pyramid by replacing some dairy products and read meat with more fruits, vegetables, and fish while also emphasizing the importance of improving the ratio of “good” to “bad” cholesterol!! Plus, exercise not only makes weight loss much easier, but also lowers blood glucose levels, decreases blood pressure, improved circulation, and increases one’s metabolism. Good regular sleep patterns are also just as important. Diets based on USDA recommendations include DASH, American Diabetic Assoc, Weight Watchers, and Jenny Craig!! When children understand how important “real food” is and where the natural ingredients of our food come from, they will increase the general population’s appreciation for preserving our natural environment and limiting toxins and polluting processes in our world. We may even trend back to the time when people stepped outside their homes to interact with family and neighbors in home and community gardens and block-party barbeques! Does anybody even remember how nice those days were?

How the Ab Circle Pro Is designed To Work The Ab Circle is supposed to give you an abs workout along with a cardio workout at the same time. It does so because of the position you take with your kneeds and hands supporting you and the motion you do from side to side on the machine in a gliding motion. It’s supposed to be better for the knees and back. The Ab Circle comes with a workout Video and a nutritional guide. The suggestion of the infomercial is that you will lose belly fat and inches off your waist by doing very short workouts on this machine. In my experience I would say the ab circle pro is a great machine that has given me amazing results. As long as you follow a reasonable diet.

Probably the most we can hope for is usually to create a handful of points below and there that hopefully, enables them to produce just a little greater informed choice. Otherwise, good post.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Chemical engineers make processes to ensure the most economical work. This means that the entire producing chain should be planned and regulated for costs. A chemical engineer can both simplify or complicate showcase reactions for an economic benefit. Utilizing a higher pressure or temperature makes several reactions simpler; ammonia, for example, is easily produced from the making up elements in a high-pressure reactor. Otherwise, reactions with a small can be recycled continuously, which would be complex, arduous work if done by hand in the laboratory. It is not unusual to build six step or even twelve-step evaporators to reuse the vaporizing energy for an economic benefit. In contrast, laboratory chemists evaporate things in a single step.
