Lafaele awaiting the Bills
Ran into Michael Lafaele today. He said he just returned from a tryout with the Buffalo Bills. He said the Bills are evaluating their situation, and that there’s a possibility he might be invited to training camp.

Well, at least there’s a timetable for installing the new turf at Cooke … er, Ching Field.
According to Shannon Wood, UH has confirmed that July 1 is the deadline to submit an intent to bid on the project.
The deadline for submitting a bid is 2:30 p.m. July 11. On that day, the bids will be opened. The bid-opening meeting is open to the public.
Work on the field could start two weeks after that. There is a 90-day window to complete the project.

In our youth, few things are as precious as our rides. The best man at my wedding, Johnny Iwashita, used to call his car “The Cherry.” I had this white Toyota that I called “The Onion” because of its off-white color. My friends called it that because when you peeled open the door you wanted to cry. (OK, OK, I’m a little messy.)
Because of affordability and convenience, the best rides often have two wheels. Here’s running back Daniel Libre getting ready to go to work:
Here’s slotback Aaron Bain (using wideout Dylan Linkner’s mo-ped):
And here’s slotback Kealoha Pilares’s mo-ped:
Then Pilares shows us one of the secrets of his mo-ped: camouflage-patterned duct tape!
Howzit Kekoa – negative 🙁 on that, how bout you? if you do, tell st, the princess, myki and sj i said howzit
d1 – howzit, pulling one Esme eh? hehe
I’d rather see helmets with these mo peds!
howzit tsaikos
Good morning Stephen and Tsai-kos everywhere! ! Hi Loa, when are you going to catch some of the practices?? They’e looking better, at least yesterday the ball wasn’t hitting the ground as much as last week.
I’m having a hard time identifying the guys. Some have cut their hair and of course I’m lost without the jersey colors and numbers. Hope that they’re getting used to the heat and humidity cuz it’s going to be a lot worse in Fla.
Have a good day all!!
Aloha all- I second Loa’s congrats (yesterday’s post) to Tasha Kai for making the US Women’s Olympic Soccer Team! Ferd’s column was great- tie into Warrior football which I never knew!
Good morning,
My ride was a ten year old ’71 Toyota station wagon, nicknamed the “Wasted Wagon”. As bad as it was it was still safer than a moped.
Loa ~ Yep…going bring Pops to see these new guys bump and run awhile. Are you coming to the bash?
Hi myki…sj disappeared on us Sunday!…He was supposed to come take pitcha of da Tsaiko All Star Band trying desperately to sober up enuff to practice!…Nah j/k, he dashed befoa we had chance foa tell ‘um. I’ll send him my quality box camera photo for inclusion in his video montage for the bash. Eh!…wait untill you hear dese guys jam!…nuff sed!

Tent!!! or someting…
tenth!?!
My 1st ride in High School was a 4 door, lame looking ’57 Ford Fairlane that I treated as if it were a ’57 T-Bird instead. It was still cool in those days to have ANY kine wheels to cruise in. Then, you started to learn how to trade up and fix up to what you really wanted to be seen in!…Poof! Low Ri-der – I’m a LowRider!
opps morn wata instecta partnah almost miss you
speaking of beginning car mine was called blue kangaroo cause was old, poor clutch system and would always jerk here and there. Yep grand pa’s deSoto which I got afta he was to old to drive it. bwhaaaaaaaaaaaa

howzit koa, howzit dpk, and good morning UHfan808
Dennis Halloran is right in an earlier post…Our guys need to wear helmets with da bikes. We lost one of our nieces from falling off a bike and hitting her head on pavement. So guys, even a no speed moped can cause critical, or worse…fatal!
ALOJAHS KAKAHIAKA
good morning Esme!
you must be working hard as why, hope you feeling betta
Umm…the boys never learn from Jason Rivers dat you need protective gear for ride anything with two wheels? C’mon boys gotta be akamai, no need any season ending injuries please!
good morning!
never really had my own ride in high school nor college for that matter, but used our ‘family’ cars as my parents upgraded. the first one was a Valiant, automatic, push buttons to change gears, parking brake was a small lever next to the buttons. probably no one remembers it now, haaaa.
DON’T try this at home but back then Valiant got dirty so went up to Pali Lookout and open all the doors. ok ok i know that wasn’t cool looking back NOW, just one of those “young and dumb” acks.
Mornin’ SJ ~ I still get’ em in my camera…if no fogit, I bring ‘um Wed. practice.
Good Morning TSAIKOs and CybeerLurkers…..just another day in digital paradise on the coconut wireless…..!!!!!!

😀 hey stretch, koakane, can you put me down fo 2 plz?
bhf2 no foget to send name to stretch at above address.
Loa, thank you. Slowly recovering and digging out from under the mountain of work. Sloooowly. 😡
Kekoa, check your e-mail, l’dat. Don’t keep me in suspense!
Just skimmed yesterday’s blog chat and noticed Homey and James used my name in vain yesterday… No wonder so itchy! *rubbing ears*
Oh, and … good morning, ST!
Great photos of the boys with their rides!
Makes me reminisce: I pedaled a gazillion-pound STEEL Free Spirit 10-speed bike all around campus and all around town throughout college. Couldn’t afford those fancy light-alloy models. Buggah was heavy — but it kept me in shape! I could sprint all the way up Waialae Ave. (of course, I had a great incentive — I usually was headed for donuts at Kimuraya Bakery… heh).
Finally a few months before graduation, I started working at the Tiser, so I needed a car, so I bought a Geo Prizm. And drove THAT buggah for 11 years. Never gave a day of trouble, ever. Sold it only because it lacked air bags, antilock brakes and other safety features. I still see it around town, driven by the guy I sold it to; apparently it’s still humming almost 20 years later!
Don’t try to do the math. It’s embarrassing.
OK, back later. Have a great day, gang!
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
Just an update for the July 10 party. The count is up to 61 right now. I know there are more regulars who have not sent in an email yet. To RSVP for the party, email me at tsaikoparty @ yahoo, com and I will reply with details where to send the $20 per person payment. Thanks,
808fan ~ You slept thru da besses jam session on da island! midori7 wuz listening on her cell phone and tot wuz one recording! You almost lost your job at the blog registrants front desk, but Koakane wen post bail.
Kekoa, wait, nevermind. I see it in the flood of e-mails. *diving in*
Stretch, I just e-mailed you. 😀
Good morning to every single poster this morning, as well as to non posters, lurkers, here and abroad and on ships at sea. Top ‘o the morning to you all! 😉

Please no mishaps on the mopeds!
Watch out for the steel plates on the road!
first ride was given to me…..a 1950 something yellow convertible jeepster. i loved it, one of a kind ride, but, da uncle took em back cuz he was broke.
next up was a corvair with the push button auto trans controls. i believe it to be a vintage 1961 4 banger that ran on more oil than gas. i got it for 50 bucks. it came equipped with the fred flintstone holes in the floor for quick start ups. at least it could carry two surfboards without the roof caving ing.
You guys right! Moppedah dey weah helmets li’ dat. 😉
Stephen,
What happened to the numbers on the posts? Also did you catch my suggestion that a rating system or rather a flagging system be set up to identify the outstanding posts like Garret’s article yesterday on how the BCS has cost college football billions? Some way to flag the interesting posts will diminish concerns for the chit-chat and help us catch the highlights if we can’t follow along that day. Mahalo.
Since the last post, I have added 5 more for a total of 66.
Re: Mopeds
I know a guy who was riding a moped, starting acting stupid trying to do tricks, fell down and hit his head pretty good. Since that time, he hasn’t been himself and because of the head injuries, is not able to work.
Who was that local vball player who was hurt pretty bad riding a moped in makiki area?? I think he was able to fully recover.
g-nalo no forget represent us state workers today. make me proud
eh KK, ack up when stay summer vacation??!!
nah you deserve tjhis break so enjoy. if you go watch UH practice, at least it ain’t on company time. haaaa
ok i go back work cause pretty sure the other State worker – ‘fp’ – is up soon. 🙂
Wonder what happen to Daniel Libre’s truck?
In naming cars, I once had an English car – a Rover – which I called “Dog”.
The blog is acting weird again. No numbers here but numbers are present on my i touch.
Tony Ching had pretty bad injuries but recovered well after his moped accident.
Morning Tsaikos!
Sorry, didn’t think ST would post the bowling scores…
Yes guys, please be careful riding mopeds.
Stretch: was that Tony Ching?
ST ~ Pls check your email.
Good morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes….(gee, remember when there was only one woman on this blog?)
I agree about the guys being careful on those rides. No injuries please. Remember Roethlisberger and his collision on his bike…cost him (and the team) a lot that season….
One of my first rides in high school was a VW Bug….was a good car but of course I was looking for something with more speed so by my senior year (after saving up da cash) I bought a used Buick Regal Grand National which at the time was one of the fastest production street vehicles around. You guys probably seen those around. It was a G-body like the Cutlass Supreme, standard Buick Regal, and Monte Carlo SS….lots of cops had these types of vehicles. After adding intake kits, Kenne Bell computer chips, flowmaster exhausts, among other things, the car really ran like the wind….now I wish I kept it…..dang….
Now I drive a Chevy Impala, but also have a bike that I love to ride but am currently rebuilding….
GO WARRIORS!!!
Don’t forget about the Tsaikoparty…going be fun….. 🙂
Well, *gulp* time for another trip to el dentisto. This will be the last visit for a while. Gonna fill my first cavity in 30 years. 🙁 homey, please don’t judge me if I splurge wif some laffin gas this time… 🙁
BTW…where is False Pordagee????
carryover from yesterday

carryover from yesterday
yeah, al, I forgot that I wasn’t golfing, I was trying to keep my score under my 20 handicap 😉
Reminder – if anyone wants to attend the party, you need to email me at tsaikoparty at yahoo. If you post here on the blog, no guarantee’s I’ll read it and remember to put you on the list.
Good morning homo sapiens!
Did AWH email you?
First ride? 1970 Ford LTD station wagon AKA “Surfmobile”.
Kealoha’s moped looks good with the “H”
Back to workie… Have a great day in Hawai’i nei!
Good Morning ST, Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Woohoo! I’m looking forward to the Big Blog Bash!
Everyone talking about their rides? If I even thought about getting a motorized two-wheel anything, my parents woulda hung me by my toes. In the 8th grade, I tried my friend’s dirt bike. I considered myself lucky I didn’t slam myself into his tetherball pole.
I got a second hand Toyota corolla from my mom’s friend. She was a teacher and drove to work (5 minutes away) and the market (another 5 minutes away) and back home. When I got it, the mileage was insanely low. The only thing, it was the mustardy color of bird doodoo. But it was very reliable.
When my brother was old enough to drive and I moved away, he souped it up, painted it white and put things in it that would blow out your ears.
After that, it went to my mom’s friend who turned it into a graffiti-mobile.
Everyone got a lot of mileage and memories out of it.
Haven’t physically seen Esme lately. Is she still a size 2?
homey – he emailed and said that he would show up for a short time then disappear.
Re; Cooke Field Turf
Bids are due Friday 430pm. Soon after that, we should know who is the low bidder for the project. At least we know UH has taken the first step towards getting this blackeye fixed.
NYUH – Since this isn’t a forum type of bulletin board I highly doubt the webmaster techies can modify the code to do a rating system for each post. And if by some miracle they can pull off a rating system it wouldn’t be used for it’s intended purpose. You know how “out of the box” koakane can get.
homey…I think she is a size 1…2 is how tall she is. BWAHAHAHAHAHA
j/k Esme…you are my friend…. 🙂
Stretch…good information. Yep, they are moving rather quickly on that. Too bad that other guy, who for A-House’s sake we won’t mention, didn’t get the job done when the baseball turf was being put in…would have saved a bunch of kala…..
Mornin’ everyone-
My first ride in high school was an old faded Metallic Blue ’52 Ford Pick up Truck inherited through my older brothers. Friends called it, “The Sanford” cause it was the same model truck on the TV series, Sanford and Sons. (Not to mention my dad had a rubbish hauling business to boot) Friends would sing the theme song as I drove by.
It also was fondly referred to as, “The Cancer Machine” for all the white billowing smoke it pumped out. Could see me driving anywhere in Ka’u for miles…
“Oh no! Get fire down Punalu’u?”
“Nah! Az da Cancer Machine going beach!”
I think Homey’s arm muscles are the size of Esme’s waist.
Homes, how come you talking about size anyway??
Stretch: I think Tony Ching is the guy. There seems to be at least one significant injury to the football team a year due to moped mishaps.
My first car? A 1949 Mercury chopped and channeled and painted maroon which three of us restored. Won it playing Scrabble. I later upgraded to a bright yellow 1955 Ford and from there to a T-Bird and then a Mustang. After that, I settled down with DrDoc and drove classic restored VWs until last summer – now the car of choice is a 20-year-old Toyota.
How did we get so off-topic?
When is the next Unsupervised Workout and at what time? I have to stay in town tomorrow for a 6 pm meeting so maybe I’ll mosey on up to UH for some hot summer fun l
James – I wonder if she still wears her Oshkosh B’gosh clothes?
homey – I forgot about those…maybe even her geranimals….mwahahahaha
A-Joe ~ That’s crazy braddah…”Cancer caboose on da loose!” Bwahaha! Hmmm…let’s mark that on da rating system as Hazardous Chit NYUH
Did I just read that gigi ate poke? I didn’t have any but what kind of poke was it? My favorite is a simple homemade concoction of ahi, limu, maui onion, chili peppah flakes, sesame oil, rock salt, and a touch of shoyu. I can eat mounds of that stuff!
How was the steak? Made to order?
Since it was a buffet did you guys have all you can eat?
Sheesh, my focus was on the beer since koakane said to put it on his tab! 😆
James – Dare we mention that she still has her Carter 3 month old layette set!
sure stretch, excuses, excuses, excuses.
my first car was a VW bug. One time I had 7 other girls in the car with me (JV Basketball team) on H1 from UH to Ft. Ruger. 😯
A-Sports – wow, the blog is finicky when it displays post. Just saw you post now.
re: size
It relates to how bigger, faster, stronger…which differs from the Olympics motto of citius, altius, fortius…the Warriors are getting! I’m just tying it in to football.
homey – I don’t even want to know how you know that information. I don’t even know what a layette is? Now I have to go look that up.
I once had 3 girls in the car with me and we didn’t go anywhere. JUST KIDDING!
James – uhhhhhh, Jason told me.
jm2375 – you coming to the party on the 10th?? No excuses about the children, you have 16 days 8 hours 18 min to find someone to watch them.
be back, good time to wipe down the car.
Tsaiko Village Alert!…
Need volunteers to learn how to sew speshow kine lei’s for our distinguished guests attending the bash. Mrs. Kekoa will teach you how and promises not to adminster her infamous “Hanakeawe Slap” if you make papaya!
Send me an email if you like try ~ that includes all Alpha Males who want to leave their dark side and come into the light. (kekoa22 at aol dot com.)
Stretch:
Tony Ching used his notoriety and turn his accident and injury into a positive force to promote safety. To this day he still champions the cause.
Your other friend, is he still not the same after his foolish and sophmoric mishap? I hope he gets better someday.
Your friend reminds me of my RA in college. He wen “small kine borrow” this girls’ moped from ‘Ilima tower, drove up and around to the front of the cafeteria, tried to do a pop willie but, lost control of the bike from under him. Full on Three Stooges “face plant” right in front of the lunch crowd. Everyone went off! Thank Goodness the ground wen broke his fall!
Ho, 911 medivac!
The girl wasn’t too happy about her bike.
Eh, get football practice today?
Homey-
I see….
Kekoa-
I can help with leis. Can make ribbons too if you need. I going email you too.
a-Joe – once the brain get’s damaged, no can recover. It doesn’t regenerate itself.
I didn’t have a car until my mid-twenties. Used public tran & walked in Hawaii & SF. That’s why I support light rail; it really works for the masses in saving time & money. I used BART for years to commute from the East Bay to SF. It wasn’t very noisy.
The first car I had was a ’71 SuperBeetle. The engine, which I rebuilt twice, is in our ’68 VW which sits in the backyard waiting for my son to convert the engine to something greener.
stretch/addahknow…
I know someone who did the same thing at UH but by Varney Circle. He was trying to impress some girls with his popa wheelie skills…needless to say, he had none…lucky for him he only bruised his elbows and had some scrapes…
I actually had to lay my bike down once near the north shore…lucky I was only going about 6 miles per hour because of traffic. Got some road rash….but my bike was scratched….ouch…
ahhhh…Mei Ling had the infamous “wop wop” car….mwahahahahaha
My VW had a sun roof, so I could drive home to Mendocino county in my bikini sunning & blasting the tunes. Not quite like going home from the beach in HI, but you make do with what you have.
Those were the days of stopping a a winery for lunch, or going fishing on the Eel River if it was a nice day. I always had my fishing gear in the back.
K, pau lan cha wa. laterz
Kekoa-
I sent you email about post number….oh wait…THERE ARE NO POST NUMBERS. It was about the leis, but I made mistake and sent to other email addy.
I echo what lots of other people said about wearing helmets while driving mopeds or motorcycles! There are so many accidents each year, it seems over one per year for UH football players, and I’d hate for a player to be hurt and miss out on the season, on school, and set back in life.
UCLA just lost an offensive lineman due to an ATV accident.
homey-san,
Buffet was not traditional all you can eat buffet. You take chisai size portion so everybody get chance to sample everything. Then after all Tsaiko-sans get their plates and enjoy reminiscing and festivities you go help yourself to more chisai portions.
Samurai Al placed another order of poke. He told me was the winnah’z and was the hot item to pupu.
What? You like challenge me to cook-off?
poho wipe the car, it started drizzling again.
Iron Chef Genji – Ah so, local style like t-gate potluck. Next CC I’ll try your poke.
Wea da scoops on how da team developing, like you can find if you reading one SC blog? Tsai, give us da scoops, la dat from the practices! Who working hard, who made the hardest hits, who hobbling, good catches, passing, the competition going on since we cannot make it ova dea. Tanks ah!
Since the Iron Chef has spoken and others have talked about it the past, the food for the July 10 is a buffet. You can go through the food line set up and choose what you want to eat. It is NOT “all you can eat”. Please understand the difference. We will have a set quantity of food that will be adequate to feed everyone at “normal” portions.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffet
A buffet is a meal serving system where patrons serve themselves. It is a popular method of feeding large numbers of people with minimal staff.
One form of buffet is to have a line of food serving stalls filled with fixed portions of food; customers take whatever food items they want as they walk along and pay at the end for each piece. This form is most commonly seen in cafeterias.
Another form known as the all-you-can-eat buffet is free in form: customers pay a fixed fee and can then help themselves to as much food as they wish to eat in a single meal.
We had mentioned Kai Maiava in this blog when the news came out that he was going to transfer from Colorado. So, I figured I should pass this note along about how he started classes at UCLA.
It’s a good thing I only eat “normal” portions or else the buffet police will escort me out if the room.
Now for the important part…Is the beer bottomless?
We should know by next week if Cinci’s starting QB will get his 6th season and get to face UH this season.
Colorado and other Big 12 schools have some huge tackles on the OL!
homey – Don’t mention bottomless beer while KK is around.
The Sugar Bowl and the rest of the BCS Bowl games are now available online.
Who knew that Terry Bradshaw took steroids when he played for the Steelers?
I’ve been reading about the All Poly Camp for years and today’s Advertiser had a nice article (via USA Today) about it. Pretty cool that Mel Purcell was one of the people helping out there.
KK = Krazy Karaoke? I don’t think I’ve ever been there.
Amazing that Manti Te’o was named the top LB at the camp for *4* straight years. That means that he was the top LB at the camp before he even started high school!
I saw the bowling scores that ST listed in the last blog. We actually discovered a bowling alley right near the Fremont casino. The cool thing was that it was just $1 per game at the time we showed up (Monday/Tuesday 11am until 2pm) instead of the regular $3 or $5 per game. So, we had Faith and Mika try to bowl since they had the ramps that kids can use to push the bowling ball on.
Faith got an 87 and Mika got an 84 in their games, and they had a lot of fun. Lori and I just watched and cheered them on. We have to add that to our activities now when we go to Vegas, plus there are a number of bowling alleys in San Diego that we might go to as a family now.
Maybe we could have a SoCal Tsaiko bowling gathering sometime? I know that Rich would be a total ringer, but maybe we’ll get some type of handicap.
a-Joe – once the brain get’s damaged, no can recover. It doesn’t regenerate itself.
tell me about it! 🙂
g-nalo – there is hope for you. it’s called neurogenesis.
pfffft, Tsaiko-darts, Tsaiko-bowling, Tsaiko-golf…the dart board doesn’t move, the pins don’t move, the ball don’t move. Duck soup. 😆
Time to go shopping at Tamura’s…where in Wahiawa should I eat lunch?
ahso, mr. stretchie and mr. ironchef san,
so chisai means small.
so blog/anni party is more like a catered party where you order so much food and that’s it.
am i right on this?
so same style the karaoke call you had right?
so then, from what is being said, how come some folks when take so much steak neva hafe enuff for others who didn’t eat yet.
still tho no shame somebodies who when take one…nah at least three mountains of teri steak lil dat.
fo shame.
homey, dat one poke was ono was fresh kine ahi not the frozen buggas from foodland. next time i sly you some before all pau.
fo’ shame – Must’ve been DPK, that buggah can grind the protein! Or was it Wreck? James? Bulla? Pride? Barry? al? Stretch? Jason? Kekoa? Pops? A-Joe? A-sports? A-Houses? I’ve seen them eat and they can put away a cow.
Looks like Las Vegas Rebels Football team is also getting new Nike uniforms after dropping Russell Athletics. Looks rather generic but new materials should help in the desert heat with better fit. Maybe they should have added some casino chips or dices or blackjack cards on the uni to give it some Bling.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2008/jun/24/runway-rebels/
wahiawa???
how about that dot’s sizzlin’ hamburger steak smothered in onions and brown gravy?
or authentic japanese cuisine at narusawa’s?
or marilou’s filipino foods?
or shige’s “homemade noodles” saimin stand and bbq sticks?
homey, i hungry now. darn it, you.
homey….not me. i eat light these days.
i had only two piece steak.
mwahahahahaha
Wait a minute Homey…how did I get lumped in there?
And speaking of poke…two words…nenue poke.
I’ve seen at least one prominent UH athlete riding around campus on a moped without a helmet. Those guys gotta be careful.
Garret: Those bowl games have actually been up for a while; guess the Wizard of Odds didn’t realize that. 😛
Reposting this:
g-nalo – there is hope for you. it’s called neurogenesis.
didn’t look it up so whatever it is, i’m guessing drinking and over eating ain’t helping?
but then again, look at Koakane! 🙂
al – nice listing
homey – what about sunnyside or dong yang, too bad no more bigway right next to tamuras or you can try that thai restaurant that jojo recommended
homey….not me. i eat light these days.
i had only two piece steak.
mwahahahahaha
there was steak?
i need a shot of neurogenesis……………………ok make it a double.
loa….sunnyside is great, too!
sports….you anenue poke. right on. i actually have some frozen ones. can toss on the hibachi. you like em? we ate a bunch already. these came from the waters ajoe used to fish.
i guess that guy was right about his telling of the “case of the missing teri steak”.
so gnalo why don’t you go interview people to find out who?
dpk? bulla? pride? kekoa? ronnie? rob?
oh wait, they sang the kapalama alma mater. did they have time to grind????
homey:
just fo your information – the A-Houses ordered off the menu at Genji’s last Thursday night.
G: One of Bradshaw’s teammates died of heart failure at a young age that many attribute to steroid abuse. I think it might have been Steve Courson.
my doctors told me long term steroid use causes cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. But it does work for what ails you — a cold or colitis.
🙂 Whew, just back from the drill and fill. I’m sending a shout out to my dentist, the excellent Dr. Herman Zampetti. He is a Jedi among dentists and a Warrior Football fan to boot. Feel free to post Dr. Zampetti, I am not sure we have a dentist amongst our denizens here. 🙂
I might be mistaken, but I thought Ralph was a dentist.
well…..that leaves the ahouses out of the picture for this one.
is this mr. or mrs.?
is masaboy back at the bellagio?
is he still at prime steakhouse?
gotta try that one one of these days.
i’ll bet going with the ahouses to vegas would be fun.
i told whitey to arrange a las vegas group for tsaiko’s to attend. even the boss encouraged him. i wonder if he took it seriously?
Saw not so good news on Jordan Dizon
Al, check your email. mahalo.
Homey,

al:

thanks for asking – MasaBoy is still at the Prime Steakhouse in the Bellagio.
we liked it very much – ambiance was exceptional – food was GREAT – my only problem is having to wear a coat to dinner.
g’nalo: thanks for the prop – yea, we had good fun except that damn crap table who took all our money.
Good Afternoon Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Ronnie – You didn’t text me to let me know that you made it home safely. At least all your UH gear was with you.
ST – I thought what happens at the bowling alley, stays at the bowling alley! hehehe Why you gotta embarass some of us like that? Ronnie and I just came from a party!
Jason – Thanks for the link!
ST – Oh and behalf of a certain group of Tsaikettes…thanks for the pics of Libre and Pilares!
OK, I was a in a little bit of a funk the past few days, but I’ve got my mojo back.
Couple of things:
My Advertiser e-mail is difficult to access. So, from now on, the best way to reach me is through my KCC e-mail. It’s: sstsai@hawaii.edu.
(Make sure you type in that second “S.”)
As for the numbers, when I get back to the office in an hour, I’ll talk to the techies again.
Great idea to highlight the top posts. Not sure how to do it, though. And, of course, I love all of the posts/posters the same, so it’s hard to pick which post should be post of the day.
A-sports….like I said on Sunday…nenue poke…ewwwwww…. 🙂
Looks like you have to begin planning a fishing trip with the gang. I’m in if you do. Just have to break out my gear.
Morning all,
About Mopeds…Funny story…when I was going to UHM I saw a football player (forgot who) on his Moped while trying to hold an empty moped with the other hand ALL WHILE DRIVING HIS MOPED..He fell over a couple of times the the shuttle bus driver kept laughing. This was during the Von Crappen Years.
James — you mean with real fish hooks and stuff? Hmmmm. Gonna use a boat? 🙂
FWIW, my first car was a ’62 Ford Falcon station wagon. Held 9 guys and 6 surfboards on roof. Gas was 37 cents a gallon. $2 at the gas station was almost half a tank…
buffet
HEY you pay attention, you listening, HEY, HEY 😈
oh sorry got off topic so where are we 😐 was thinking out of da box, calculating or dozing off
SteveM….nah, from shore. Just throw out some lines….hang out. I fiugre KK would be in, Wreck, and the A-joes…and any other Tsaiko who likes the outdoors… MWAHAHAHHAHAHA

# (Jesse) James:
June 24th, 2008 at 10:50 am
homey – Don’t mention bottomless beer while KK is around.
ok ok who talking about cause I RESEMBLE dem remarks
James — I know what is going to be tied at the end of some people’s line to keep it cold and hidden… but anyone else using real hooks and not eating the “bait”?
😆
homey you was at KK. rememba cause you had you head down offering up a prayer to the cr gods. bwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
g you no need double just need to show up on time and stop making like YMCA at the kvillage establishments 😮
koakane,
i have the photo, and he is praying to the King. Elvis is in the cabinet looking down at him………
g you no need double just need to show up on time and stop making like YMCA at the kvillage establishments
haaa, “kvillage”??!! eh no mix me up with Stretch.
for what its worth, i DIDN’T plan on showing up late to Genji’s and it was just a little late, but apparently late enough to miss the poke and steak? either that or i did eat it but now need a double shot??!! lol
anyways, it was a LAST minute diversion to ONE establishment – it was business, not YMCA.
but i’d better not go too early on July 10th, if i go thru the buffet line twice…………….security!
Homey was praying??!! say it isn’t so………….
g-nalo,
which one was you? was I still there?
ok Koakane no worry, going back to work before you tell me to.
apparently, Bulla isn’t working either??? hehe
Anyone interested in going to the Call the AD Show, next Monday at Hukilau, starting at 6pm?? Should be interesting to see what he has to say. I wonder if it will be like a “State of the Athletic Department” address??
g-nalo,
which one was you? was I still there?
please DPK………don’t try to remember me that night, but if you don’t mind i’ll introduce myself on July 10th……….AGAIN! 🙂
hmmm Monday, hubby is taking the day off. At 6 pm, we will be driving to Morton’s Steakhouse.
g-nalo, please intoduce yourself to me, too!

Stretch: This the first I heard of it, but count me in for Monday.
koakane – there is a change of venue for the Call the AD show. It will now be heard over the transister radio while dining at Morton’s Steakhouse, compliments of gigi.
koakane,
you crack me up….i only work 1/2 a day…12 hours, haha. it’s called multi tasking, sort of like a CC for us. you know, select the food, cook the food, have a conversation, order a beverage, fight for grill space (DPK?), talk some more, get more food, cook again, eat, drink, talk some more….and breathe every now and then, haha.
das alright, da bottom line is dis…………….what was i talking about?
Pilares’ moped would look a whole lot better if he had a local style UA logo on it. One of these days….
Koakane, it was so funny. At Gengi, I kept calling LTUHF Koakane. He introduced me to his wife Lorna. Then, I said that I saw his comment on my blog regarding wasabi.
He said he hadn’t seen my blog recently.
Then, it dawned on me that LTUHF was NOT Koakane! I asked him to point you out to me.
Man, Koakane and LTUHF look so much alike. UNBELIEVABLE!
g-nalo,
i am like the wind you do not see, somewhere but nowhwere, here but not there,….borderline ninja action.
g-nalo, please intoduce yourself to me, too!
just 1/2 hr ago, it was 87 degrees in the house so I turned on the a/c. Now it is 77 degrees and I have to wear a sweater!
i will, thanks. Stretch and Al already recommended i chit chat with you.
btw – i know you can’t eat much so while we’re at it, i’ll go through the food line with you…………hehe
j/k……..FO REEL j/k!
I had my first Vespa in NYC at the ’64 world’s fair. I used to ride from Far Rockaway Beach to Flushing, then to my night job as a Page on the Tonight show. I don’t even think they had helmets then.
First car was a ’36 Pontiac Touring Sedan that I rescued from a junk yard as a Freshman in College. Worked great, Knew it’s way home when I was not able to remember. I still have a picture of it right next to me on the wall and still wonder if it is still among the living 50 yrs later. Bought it for $65. and Sold it as a Senior for $100.
Chicks loved me teaching them how to drive a stick shift!
It went on many road trips to Football Away games in So Cal and Bay Area.
(Pause to wipe tears from keyboard)
g-nalo, those plates are so small. Das why the food on the plate looked so plenty. hhaha
bulla man you private secta guys get all da bestest stuff…..wait just like high school 😉
btw thinking that shirt…..something about flosie would look good on memorabilia table?
GENJI. Please, GENJI. And koakane and LTUHF? Er… 😀
haha sorry I got G on the brain. NOT GenGi.
You not daydreaming about g-nalo, are you???
How can I daydream about someone I have never met?
what about gangee??? Steak? At Morton’s? Okay, yeah, didn’t get any at Genjis so would be good to get some at Mortons. What time??? MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
koakane looks more like a local kine Mel Torme…..”Mac nuts roasting on an open hibachi…..bagaong, boiling at the stove….” MWAHAHAHHAAHHA
always a good time with James. You’re so funny.
James, you didn’t get any steak at Genji? I feel bad about that.
gigi…I am just a student of all the fine comics that are part of the Tsaiko Ohana…they are the masters. :-))
Stretch-
Put me down for Monday.
koakane,
you want the famous buck foise shirt? could you use it as a table cloth probably, haha.
I wish I could drink an ice-cold Beck’s, but it’s not Friday yet.
Fresno State just took the lead 6-5 on a rocket HR by 3B. Go WAC!
bulla yep for tsaiko culcha no can beat dem memories….just like you always say.
I am excited to go Nenue fishing… Real Hooks Steve!… Ohh never mind… I like to eat the bait sometimes too…

g-nalo,
i am like the wind you do not see, somewhere but nowhwere, here but not there,….borderline ninja action.
wh…wha….what??? eh for security guys, takes years of practice to be somewhere but nowhere. 🙂
nah j/k…….what Bulla, only the shadow knows?
g-nalo – no worry, you can be security, you know how to hide behind the bushes. just make sure you no bang um and shake the branches.
nalo,
yeah, we just hit the ‘invisible’ switch and we’re poooooooof…..gone
F is for Football
Speaking of football.
whoa – who’s this annonymous lurker posting now??
I think that it’s pretty cool that four out of the thirty-two teams in the NFL have a player of hawaiian ancestry as their starting center. Cool huh. That’s 12.5% of the starting centers in the NFL. Very interesting.
I don’t know who I am…because I am anonymous.
G is for golf.
Hey Pride…howzit man. What do you think about Kealoha moving to slot? Good move for him and the team I think.
Gigi…wreck eats worms…just like most of us fishermen….especially since worms don’t like salt water too much…we rather just eat them and use other forms of rubish for bait like tako and puhi and shrimp and aku belly….
g-nalo – You should know what kind bait is good right? MWAHAHAHAHA
F IS FOR FISHING.
Do you like to see the poor fish thrashing on the sand, gasping for its life? Cruel sport.
Speaking of Golf. I’ve got to agree with Whitey, who mentioned this weekend that Michelle Wie needs to stop making excuses, and needs to start fufilling her vast potential. A good start would be to stop listening to all the experts who have been fiddling with her game, and go back to her original coach when she was a young girl. Get back to the basics. She is very talented, but may need to simply get back to the basic fundamentals. Her game will come around if she just gets back to the basics.
It thought it was the world famous pride, everyone step back and give him space so he can breath some fresh air.
nalo,
yeah, we just hit the ‘invisible’ switch and we’re poooooooof…..gone
speaking of which, gots to get back to work before “Principal” Koakane shows up.
take it easy everybody.
Well Wie placed higher than Sorenstam during this past tournament.
I feel she is making progress.
You’re right Jesse. Better to get him in the open field, like Chad Owens.
g-nalo – You should know what kind bait is good right? MWAHAHAHAHA
aiyaaaa!
“no speak engless”
Gigi…Sorenstam didn’t win did she. As a champion, you measure yourself against the winner.
Hi pride
You may be anonymous, but can’t keep that beautiful voice of yours in the dark. Thoroughly enjoyed your singing last week…can’t wait to do it again.
I used to think Wie was better than Morgan Pressel. But, Pressel has already won a tournament and is the youngest to do so.
Poor Michelle.
I am a big fan of Michelle Wie. My point is that I think that some people jumped on Whitey for being to critical. I think that was unfair. I believe that Whitey is also a Wie fan. However, Whitey was just trying to point out that she needs to stop making excuses and start performing. Don’t say that you’re driving the ball well off the tee but yet the numbers tell us you’re only hitting 30% of the fairways and 30% of the greens. She will never make it if she accepts those numbers. She is much better than that. She is simply disorganized. That’s why I believe that she needs to go back to the basics, where she learned the basics, and get organized again.
you not kidding, you might me the biggest…
We’ll do it again Rob.
Thanks for that Stretch.
Anyway just wanted to say hi and bye. Belated happy birthday to Midori7.
LIke Esme says…gotta skippity, skippity doooo out of here.(picture ballet shoes and a pink tutu)
Yes…soon. It’s so relaxing to listen to you sing. Love that voice.
I agree with all of you that Michelle needs to get back to basics. She has way more potential than she has shown since all the coaching changes. I think that her “handlers” need to get out of the way and let her be the golfer that she is.
LMAO at pride…picturing that last image he just painted….MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
be careful what you wish for, with photoshop nowdays, it might become reality.
Okay… Gigi… You really think the people in Hawaii use “worms” for bait. LOL
It is more like Raw Shrimp, Aku Belly, Hahalua, O’ama… Worms LOL, only Homey eats that…
I like catching Nenue… I just don’t like to eat that fish too much. So now I got some one to feed it to… A-Sports!
wea’s dat guy. da one wit da same first name like me. i tink he’s so handsome. maybee i goin come down to da hukilau at laie bay dis monday foa hea da atletic directa talk. i like meet him dat koaman or koaguy or wateva hiz name. i know he 1 teecha hah? i’m an educatah too u know, so he and i we get sumtin in common. i da one take kea of da kids at da crosswalk in da morning. den my old man he take me foa make leis until i go back to da school in da aftanoon. tanks foa da guy who write dis articles everday, foa putiing all youya guyz pictchas. das how i went meet koaguy, or see his pictcha in da computa. he neva meet me yet, but when he see da tatoo on my neck i knoe he goin fall foa me.
Why don’t you just use LURES? You might have better results. A friend of mine does deep-sea fishing from his boat and he uses lures. Catches marlin.
koawahine – you two would make a perfect couple, you must be alcoholic like him if you think he handsome. You better lay off the alcohol before meeting him, you know what they say about beer goggles.
OK, I’m back in the office.
I spoke with Scott Morifuji, and he said the techs are looking into the disappearance of the numbers. He said it’s blog-wide. But, ya know, I’m selfish. I only care about this blog.
excuse me for not responding back because my computa might go off from all the beer I wipping off my screen, table and keyboard.
come out from da darkside you instagatas and let do something ….. I hear a pau hana happy hour @ Monterey Bay by Pearl Ridge Center who can make it?

OK, where did my pictures go?
rob….. g1 and yes chawan is da dean to james jerry
Yes have to represent for KS girls when I can. Hubby will be gone to the big sandbox soon and the kids will think that I’ve abandoned them, but someone has to do the dirty work. hehehe
A-joe has picture proof of chawan’s skills. If not, then Mrs. A-house does.
Speaking of which….Mrs. A-House can you email pics of birthday bowling? I would love to make a print of the group shot. I thought that Ronnie mentioned to me last night that you had sent to her….they weren’t attached to my email. Domo!
g1=video poker for good one
not for g-nalo, gigi or genj i
Koakane – I’m feeling a little sick right now…g1 works for that too. j/k
Interesting discussion about how conference are more likely to expand to 12 for all BCS conferences than go to 16 teams per superconference like the Orlando Sentinel has been writing about. UH got shortchanged in this discussion.
Stephen…your pics are looking fine to me. Do you have more?
See ya later!
Fresno State! 10-10… tomorrow…tomorrow…
Fresno State! 19-10… tomorrow…tomorrow…
WAC Bulldogs will play for NCAA Baseball Championship Manana! Way to go!
I was text-lexic on my first post of the score…
ST ~ I don’t see the pics anymore, too. (Using iE; does it matter?)
Help all I see are boxes with red x’s in them????????
ST, I use wordpress.com for my blog. Recently, one picture of my Japan trip disappeared with just an X in a box remaining. I had to reinstall the pic. You might have to do the same.
well. halleluja, the pics are back!
Gigi,
Deep sea is different than shore casting… plus the lures taste like plastic… 🙂
Well, stir-fry the shrimp for yourself, and use the lures for the fish. By the time they are hooked, it will be too late to taste the plastic.
Aloha
Dennis Halloran – I just wanted to skip back a minute to the ’64 World’s Fair. Like you, I was also very lucky to have attended what I still think is the best Fair I have ever been to!
My most impressive impression was of the big corporation pavillions. The Ford Motor Company had one of the most impressive displays. They took all of their brand new 1965 models and made sure they used only the convertables. That was your fair ride thru their exhibit!
The pavillons built on what was once all in landfill called Flushing Meadows, were endless, too many to count!
Nenue is a “reef” fish and we used to use a fine, silky fresh water moss as bait.
We cooked them in a shoyu, sugar, ginger sauce ( shoyu-ni ) – hmmmmmmmm, makes my moth water.
eh, what kind computer is this – I used A-House, but came out Midori7.
moth = mouth
OK, I’m really back.
The power went out in our office. We were sitting in the dark, waiting for the hysterical editor to yell that the power has returned.
And it did.
But I still can’t view today’s pictures on my office computer.
ST
Try clicking on the top left corner ‘icon’ inthe blank picture space
It returned the picture.
Non FB question
Anyone have or used trekking poles made by either LEKI or Komperdell?
Any comments/suggestion as I am looking at purchasing 2 prs.
Mahalo
The problem with Call the ____ Show at the Hukilau is the sound or lack thereof. The first time i went during the baseball season I sat towards the back and had not a clue as to what was being said at the front of the room. The next time I brought the radio along and was able to hear what was being said even though I still couldn’t see very well. It’s not a good setup such as the ones at The Willows and even Lulu’s.
We’d like to attend and I’m willing to secure a table around 5 pm towards the front – I assume that the show is at 6 pm. For how many all totaled?
If any of you ever need to use a boat to go fishing, give us a call. We have a small boat – certainly not safe for anything deep water, but it is for channels and nearshore waters.
KEKOA: Your comment last night about military bowling alleys – I agree that the military base bowling alleys will be around for a long time, but most civilian folks do not have access to them. Obviously, if there’s a club established and/or a league to play in, then that’s something else, but for the recreational bowler who wants to go bowling eight or ten times a year, the impending demise of the sport in the civilian community is really depressing.
Finally, What do the following professional athletes both active & retired have in common: Tony Gonzalez, Pat Neshek, Desmond Howard, Ricky Williams, D’Marco Farr, Prince Fielder and Salim Stoudamire. First person to come up with the correct answer will receive a dinner for two at The India Cafe on Kapahulu Avenue. Deadline 5 am: Wednesday, June 25.
Off to a meeting – am running late, but it’s only a mile away.
ST, The pics are now gone for me also. What is going on???
STRETCH, hubby bought 30 Titleist RECYCLED golf balls for $23 from Kmart. What did the company do to the balls to make them RECYCLED? Will it affect our performance in any way?
Aloha Pauoa Boy ~ BarryM emailed me a note to pass on to everybody. His son, Abe is now officially a full-fledged USC Trojan as of 10 AM yesterday!
Before he left, I briefed him on staying in touch with his Tsaiko Ohana. He will be in contact with you and the other Lo Cal Crazies once he gets settled in. (Barry, No worry, I did not give out his ph.#).
Right on, was wondering if you knew where Rainbow Cliff’s facility is? Supposedly in L.A. somewhere I was told?
Good to hear about Lafaele, wish the best for him..
It is good for Jordon that this information wasn’t public before the draft.
KEKOA: I missed you in the crowd. I guess i was at the Spanish Pavilion eating at the Jockey Club.
Of course the ’64 World’s Fair was pretty crowded! 🙂
This article says that Jordon could be suspended by the NFL. They pointed out that a player was suspended in a similar situation 2 years ago.
Finally, What do the following professional athletes both active & retired have in common: Tony Gonzalez, Pat Neshek, Desmond Howard, Ricky Williams, D’Marco Farr, Prince Fielder and Salim Stoudamire. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc, the answer to this question is that each of these athletes are on Vegan diets. Each has cut out meats and such in their respective diets to help promote a healthier lifestyle.
I had a picture of Lafaele, but it’s not loading.
This mentions a former UH football player so I guess it is relevant.
This is where Cliff works.
Discussion of the Heisman candidates brings up Colt and the “s” word again.
ST- looks like your picture server got zapped – or at least the link did.
Auwe for Jordon. But he manned up and treated the officer with respect.
No punishment will be worse than his mom’s slippah, tho, guarans.
I have to remember not to park on the left side of the street…
AOP is a fantastic school, btw.
Article about potential BCS Buster teams this season went out of its way to take a dig at UH.
It’s funny how people get so involved with your personal business when you become a professional athlete, celebrity and the such. Always looking to exploit negative things that can be found about a person and making it out to be bigger than it really is. Reminds of Colt Brennan and how everyone keeps holding that CU incident over his head. Jordon Dizon will obviously take care of his mistake and move on, but garrans some idiot is going to blow it up and probably say he has a character issue cause he didn’t tell no one before the draft about the incident…yada, yada, yada…
Hey, the pictures have returned.
Rich2176 is at the Kona airport, enjoying the hustling and bustling … oh, who are we fooling? He can’t get the Internet.
Thanks Garret for the info on Rainbow Cliff
W/Doc – You are correct, but since we had already established the Shafter Bowling Alley as another resource for the ‘Tsaiko Ohana’ then I was merely letting the others know that particular lane will still be available for our use long after the demise of the civilian centers.
I introduced Midori7 to the manager of those lanes about 2 months ago, she knows how to initiate an outing pretty much anytime she wants. All she needs is an ID card holder, and we have a few retirees, me included and even a Tsaikette who is eligible
So when Pali finally closes it’s doors, we have back up.
Yes it is a shame that the county chooses to support Golf courses rather bowling centers, but that’s there business until a push from the public supports change. Meanwhile the erosion of these centers cause local people to lose a great recreational sport.
Wow looks like Lafaele has been hitting the weights, he looks massive!
Pauoa:
He said he weighs 310.
Recycled = Used A lot of “recycled” balls are picked up from ponds in the golf courses and re-sold. Most are in pretty good condition and will not affect your performance in any way.
310lbs…on a 6’0″-6’1″ frame that’s a scary sight for a RB to see that mass coming to destroy you.
I can see Quentin Beaver destroying guys this year, any word on how he’s been progressing ST. Would love to see him on the field this year laying out some OLineman and crushing RB’s and QB’s all day!
***(Worth Repeating)*** Tsaiko Village Alert!…
Need volunteers to learn how to sew speshow kine lei’s for our distinguished guests attending the bash. Mrs. Kekoa will teach you how and promises not to adminster her infamous “Hanakeawe Slap” if you make papaya!
Send me an email if you like try ~ that includes all Alpha Males who want to leave their dark side and come into the light. (kekoa22 at aol dot com.)
Mahalo to A-Sports for volunteering your lei making services, now if we could get at least 125 more volunteers…..hehehe
Garret – That “s” word kills me. I like what Colt Brennan said in one of his interviews with ESPN when asked the system question.
Colt Brennan: Obviously the Run & Shoot is designed to put up big numbers for a quarterback so when I come out of that system you gotta be able to take on the criticism. Nobody takes into account that my efficiency, my completion percentage and my touchdown to interception ratio are stats that no Run & Shoot quarterback has ever came close to having before. I’ve had a lot of success in the system but not just touchdowns and yards, it’s been efficiency and wins and I think that’s what really makes a quarterback stand out. I really think that if people watch the film, watch me scramble, watch me run around and make plays, they see there really isn’t a lot of system in the way I play. I’ve played football everywhere from Colorado to Boston to California to Hawaii and I’ve been in every single system out there and I’ve had success in every one of them so if people really do their homework they know that I’ve been in different systems and had success in different systems.
Vote Colt da face of OUR program. Booyah!
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/face/team?teamId=62
Lafaele might have a good chance to get picked up by the Bills. There DT’s aren’t necessarily deep. They picked up Marcus Stroud from Jacksonville and Spencer Johnson from Minnesota. The only starter back from last year is Kyle Williams and the only other DT who had significant playing time was John McCargo. Hope he makes it…
Mahalo, RainbowMojo! ah getem.
GOOD LUCK MICHAEL LAFAELE!
You were such a bright light at the Hula Bowl… it was such a pleasure to have met you there!
RainbowMojo – If I keep clicking on Colt Brennan’s name consistently, is that being biased 🙂
Good Evening Everyone….
Current count for the Blog Bash is up to 80. For all the lurkers, please no shame come out and meet everyone. I can guarantee everyone will have a good time.
Pauoa Boy, ah, you must be oneadem “system” Tsai-kos … 😈 Bwahahaha!
Haha, das right
Dayumit I wish I could be at the Blog Bash. Anybody get one private jet can hook a brotha up with a ride, I buy case beer, dinner, sorry no can pay for gas though…
sour grapes. Hubby says he didn’t get his money’s worth of food at Genji. Bypassed quite a bit of food because it just didn’t appeal to him. eg., rice, poke, pork/tofu, noodles.
I, on the other hand, loved the food, though I too bypassed some food — rice and tossed salad.
hubby hopes the food at the blog bash next month will be better and adequate.
You two have been to many restaurants, how many of them were you able to pay $20 total that includes food, drinks, and tip. We are trying to keep things affordable for everyone to allow more people to come out. We could go with high class food with tons to eat but that will mean almost double in cost. Keep in mind the purpose of this party, to get together and have a good time, talk story.
Forgot to add – if hubby needs more to eat than he already ate at Genji’s, which was quite a lot per people’s observations, this is not the party for him.
That’s hubby’s gripe, not mine. He wasn’t happy with the food, but I was.
How come James didn’t get any steak?
anyway, we left the party at 8:15 because he was tired. We might have to leave the blog bash early for the same reason.
Let’s hope it is a success!
80 people have signed up? That’s good.
Pauoa Boy: How you gonna claim the prize? No more India Café on the Mainland. 😀
Pauoa Boy:
I haven’t seen Beaver at the workouts. Then again, I haven’t been to all of the morning workouts. Caryn Kunz is his cousin, so I’ll ask her how he’s doing.
Re: Food.
You may have my portion. I get kind of nervous in front of big crowds, so it’s hard to eat early. Of course, eating is no problem later.
gigi= next time when you leave, please take your leave… go around the room and say nitey nite so we don’t go …. “hey, where did gigi and Mr. gigi go?”
Gigi:
I hope you stay late.
I’m going to mention it at the party, but I changed the direction of the blog, partly because of you.
My husband is soooo HAOLE. He prefers MEAT, lots of it. Also likes vegetables. Doesn’t care too much for carbs.
kekoa,
howzit bradda. told Koakane he can make anykine. close by women’s apparrel would be nice. 😀 da bannah get special feecha an takes levitra. 😀
huh?? As usual ST is being cryptic.
Liz:
You’re correct. It’s good manners to say “goodbye.”
hah, Liz, I am not a VIP… Only VIPs take their leave and say good bye to their constituents.
“Too tired, not enough food, food was junk, I never get what I paid for, yada, yada, yada, yada.” Next time Gigi, come by yourself and leave the hubby home. Then he can be well rested for his midnight workouts.
Jason You can go in my spot if you like. I already kind of knew the answer to that question already.
Did you guys hear?!?!?!?
Our own Coach Mack was at Mai Tai’s in a freestyle session.
Now while he and June Jones remain friends, Coach Mack is a freestyler as well as a coach so the following is in good fun. 😆
Check it, You know how I be

That’s like Glanville trying to be more better than me
Now stop, think about that, it aint about that, its about B-I-G AKA DA MACK
Now that’s the difference between first and last place, JJ, Tell me how my BLITZ taste!!!
Okay, JJ, Tell me how my BLITZ taste
Okay, Everybody, JJ Tell me how my BLITZ taste
Yeah, 7 out of 9, you can’t do without me
JJ, You can’t do without me
Everybody, JJ, Tell how my BLITZ taste
Yeah….
Gigi:
Not being cryptic, but I also don’t want to give away the whole speech.
Let’s just say that when it comes to the blog, things that appear random might not necessarily be so.
This is too much… Pride makes 2, yes 2, appearances in one day. Not so anonymous anymore. haha just kidding, always good to see you here.
Rich, I haven’t read everything today on WB, but if you are coming through HNL enroute to LAX…a laptop arrived from Dell today for Abe…if you had room to schlep it….let me know. If not, its Fedex. Dell is obnoxious, once we determined they couldn’t get it here before Abe’s departure to LA, they would not allow us to reroute it even to my Dad’s house, near Rich’s (and it obviously would have been cheaper NOT to send it here via 2nd Day Air). Have a safe trip Rich, and best wishes to your good lady.
Barry:
Rich is traveling direct from Kona to L.A. His plane should on the runway in about six minutes.
Pauoa Boy: I knew the answer too (through Google), but I chose not to answer. Although I do love India Café. Yum.
Kazz: Haha!
Gigi, one easy solution so you can bring your hubby, happy. Go to “Blazin Steaks” on King St. in Kalihi, feed him 3 plates…and then he is good to go immediately after to fill in the cracks at Tsaiko feeds.
ST – Thanks, would like to see if Quentin can be worked into the DLine rotation this year. Can’t wait till the start of fall camp already. Hope to see more of Princess Leila’s videos during fall training too!
I think there are a lot of folks who want to see Quentin play.
But don’t forget Tuika, another Kahuku d-lineman. He was No. 2 at the end of spring ball.
ST, Mahalo for the info.
BarryM- Rich’s phone battery is about dead too.
Jason – No worries just go bumby the free dinner go to waste, and you know how the Tsai-ko’s cannot waste food now 🙂
One of my coworkers wanted to know why The Tizer chose to support this blog but not the others. I had to explain that the anniversary party is being run entirely by our readers, not by The Tizer.
gigi- all Tsai-kos are very important people…
prideperiod, hiya! It was wonderful to meet you and have the chance to enjoy your music. ❗
Barry is haole like hubby, so he know all about steaks and how much he loves em.
I think there is just an automatic urge to see someone of the physical dimensions of Quentin Beaver perform.
Imagine what he could do if he had the motor of a Glenn Dorsey?
Kazz I didn’t know Coach Mack had mic skills, that’s DIESEL Yo! 🙂
Gigi, I am only joking. Please tell hubby that the Tsaiko get-togethers are always centered around food and fun, but that food is always secondary to the FELLOWSHIP and FUN. Even cattle calls are about fellowship more so than the food. That’s why when a bunch of us guys went through the buffet line, and there were four empty trays, we didn’t complain, we just ate what was left. That’s wjy James didn’t Have any steak, because there wasn’t any left. But no pilikia, we had fun anyway.
Hey, Barry, you should get a Mac for your kid.
No viruses.
Great graphics.
And if you know someone with a UH ID card — Lafu? — you can get a good discount. The iBook I use was $1,000 at the UH Book Store.
On top of that, SteveM can give you tutorials. He’s the best.
gigi: When you’re out with friends, you don’t say goodbye when you have to leave?
Woo hoo! Kazz is warmin’ up for the season of song… I mean football song re-writes!
I’m still hoping for big things from Kazz Ostrowski.
By the way, a big mahalo to Kekoa and Stretch and the gang for all that they do.
I can see why the twins love Stretch.
I guess because hubby does not blog here, he really feels like an outsider looking in. So he doesn’t notice the fellowship.
OK, guys, I’ll say good night to my friends when l leave…
prideperiod… bingo about the fellowship. The humblest food tastes good when friends abound.
OK, I’m leaving the office now.
Now that The Graduate is back for the summer, we’re one short on the car rotation. I have to pick up Wena.
Anybody here want me to pick up milk on the way home?
Aunty gigi – tell the hubby come wala’au lil bit and find out for himself what kine charactahs get insai hea. My oddah half no blog either but she always looking over my shoulder checking out the scoops, she only wish had one blog for Wahine Volleyball as she is all about dem!
Gigi:
All of the blog participants are stars. You can’t imagine how many people come up to me and ask about you, and DPK, and Al and Pride Period, and the twins …
That’s why the party will be a cool thing. It’ll be a birthday party for 120 people.
RE: ESPN Poll (Face of UH Football)
I voted for Colt, even though JJ was well…. (nothing left to say that hasn’t been said)…
But I had to turn away from being suckered into the hate speeches following the polls.
The internet never fails to amaze me with the amount of ignorance out there.
ST – Drive Safe Unko
LizK, glad that I finally got to meet you. You’re so full of boundless, positive energy. It’s quite infectious. By the way, thanks for the beautiful song that went with the opening prayer.
Kazz – Too much Haterade in the world today not enough Vitamin Water to cure the disease of ignorant people.
gigi- where else can you go, walk into a virtual “room” full of strangers and make immediate friends? I consider this “room” a home. We even act like a family here! The best part is that we become friends first, based on our mutual support for the Warriors and the aloha we carry in our hearts. This friendship is not based on the superficial qualities that permeate most “friendships” so by the time we meet face to face, those things like clothes, cars, jobs, education, race, religion, politics, address, etc. even last names are not that important.
But that’s just me 😆
Well gotta hele, wifey having hard time put the keikis to bed, dayum keeds! Check you Charactahs manyanaz … Shakaz…
The other week, I went to a funeral. I guess he was my grand-uncle — my Grandpa’s sister’s husband. I only met him once, when he came to my Dad’s funeral three years back. But even though I knew nobody there except my aunt and uncle, I still took the time to talk story with these family members. And I found that although I didn’t know them, they knew me, and that made things easier.
What I’m trying to say is this: whether your Mr. gigi or some lurker reading this, don’t feel like an outsider. This is an extended family, with people you see all the time and people you only see at funerals (or other grand events). If you don’t know anybody, make friends. We’re all adults here, and even though we are of different ages and come from different backgrounds, we share different beliefs and faiths and philosophies, we have gone through different experiences in life, both good and bad — still, we’re able to come together and talk story, whether it’s on the blog or in person. So no be shy, just be one of the guys or gals. I’m sure everyone remembers how laid-back I was at the first blog bash at Murphy’s, and look how I and so many others have grown through these relationships. We could have Rich and Margo write a script, and even Hollywood wouldn’t believe that it’s based off our story. So don’t be an outsider — cause it’s not through any effort of ours. If you’re an outsider, then it’s of your own doing, cause the Tsaikos welcome everyone with open arms. Except for trolls, of course! 😉
*you’re
Pauoa Boy: Man, you call everybody uncle and aunty. I bet you’re around my older sister’s age; that’s close enough. So do what I do — call them grandma and grandpa. 😀
Thanks, Jason… well put!
Your nanay will be proud!
prideperiod… mahalo for being you 😉
Nitey Nite, Ka Kou!
And Rich2176 – Safe Home!
Even though she said not to, I did the math, and I think I should start calling her Lola. 😉
Is that supposed to be a George Carlin reference?
oh wait…
gigi- BarryM is far from haole. He’s a, er, Jewmoan – actually more than that but I forget the whole thing he told me 😉 And his kids are even more spe-shul!
Da braddah is more Samoan in spirit and culture dan anything. No be fooled by what you think you see.
George Carlin ref? hmmm… not on purpose. Rich is anoddah spe-shul one – full of aloha – far from haole. (as in ha- aole)
Ya know, I was yakkin’ on the phone to my buddies, prideperiod and bulla, over the last couple of days and I shared this realization with them, which I was only able to define to myself at Genji’s last week. To be able to walk into a room of 50 people and feel so close to them ALL is truly a unique experience. To have such close and constant friendship with such a diverse group which features folks of all ages, races and social strati can only be possible on a blog like this. To be able to create and maintain so many close friendships would be very difficult in the real world, this place allows and enables this. Meanwhile we keep one corner of our town focused on UH Football, especially during the season. I enjoy and savor all the folks here and blessed by their friendships. Participation in this blog has truly been a life altering experience for the better, and I am so glad to have been a part of this.
When I last saw David at Genji’s, he was commenting that he needed a nic to blog under because he wanted to join in. I couldn’t think of a nic for him, I wished I could
have, but mostly I was happy to see that he was interested. To David and all the lukers out there, all I can say is jump in and engage and you are almost certain to have a great time. Nothing compares. 🙂
Good evening Tsaikos?
Off-topic but sports related. Anybody catch Real Sports on HBO tonight? The last story made us laugh and possibly make all the male Tsaikos jealous. 😀
Thoroughbred named Tigercat. Had short and unspectactular racing career in the 80s. Owners put him out to stud. First one, they got $20K, then his progeny started winning. Price at his peak for each foal he sired was $500K. He was studded TWICE A DAY during breeding season and took him only about 15 secs to do the deed. To get the fillies in the mood, they employed “teaser” horses. Poor things had to do all the work but got shut out. Tigercat retired a couple of years ago. Sired about 1400 offspring. Made over $25M for his owners. 😯
Well, have a good evening. Time for bed. Sweet dreams. hehehe
nothing wrong with being haole, though. I was happy that hubby used chopsticks in japan… especially since he has arthritis in his hands.
ah well, maybe a trip to kauai and the golf tournament will make him feel more accepted by “virtual” strangers.
God Speed and safe flight home Rich, it was truly a treat to meet yet another extraordinary Tsaiko like your self.
Don’t think hubby has time to blog. Too busy at work. And too busy watching his shows on TV. Also, I tend to monopolize the computer.
jm2375 – great story about the horse, but isn’t that called prostitution and isn’t prostitution illegal??
Anyone watch the movie Jackarse 2 when they drank the horse sperm?? Pretty funny.
WarriorMojo- Wea you at!
AnnodahDave- Ho! Wea YOU at!
Haven’t seen you two braddahs fo LOOOONGG Time!!!
Sorry Gigi, I must say, Barry is not like hubby at all. Barry understands and appreciates our Polynesian culture and has embraced it fully with his family. He knows how to openly share what he owns and covets nothing.
He is like a brother to all of us, and in fact gave me something just the other day that he noticed I thought was unique. No hesitation, just here…take it, it’s yours!
All we hear from you is “Hubby says we have to leave at a certain time.” “Hubby says we have to arrive before a certain time.” “Hubby says this…Hubby says that.”
When will we ever hear, “I told Hubby I want to arrive early and stay late.” Be honest…Would he balk at that demand?
Lighten up David, Gigi says you are Haole, but you don’t have to act like one. Come join us and talk story. Tell us about your hopes and dreams and unload that sports drawer that is full of opinions on Warrior Football. That’s what this blog is really all about, we just like to take the fun way around the block to get to the good part!
Peace Out!
A-Joe & Sports ~ Kaipo was on the phone to Aunty Diana last night asking if she and Kimana could come up to play music with him, so he could stay sharp!
…I asked, eh? “what about me?”…He said, “yeah Unko, you can come too…ah, can borrow your udda uke?”
DPK ~ You are a real inspiration my friend. Your words struck some chords on my life’s slack key guitar. Don’t do that again without putting out a disclaimer first. Something like…
“WARNING – “reading this blog will stimulate the growth of your heart. Any use of a device to break it will be dealt with severely!”
Stretch- Please count me in for Monday.
Darn I still cannot see ST’s pics from my Palm Centro…
Hooray for FSU beating UGA 19:10 in CWS championship baseball game! Awesome awesome win!!!!! (FSU) Remember to sleep tight about your fundamentals for tomorrow’s (final) game! & Go WAC!
Nitey nite Tsaikos & Tsaikettes! Sweet dreams!!! = )
Hey Kekoa-
Midori and I talked tonight at length but we forgot to discuss the music show I missed Sunday. I’m sure going be good if you and she say so.
Btw, missed you at bowling on Saturday! Where you was??? ; )
Gigi ~ In case you missed my post last night, here it is again because it sounds like you are trying to defend your “cool cat.”
