DJ gets the call

The past two months, slotback DJ Armbrust has worked out each weekday on the Manoa campus. Some days, he will pester a quarterback to throw passes. Some days, another receiver or DB will serve as quarterback.

Word of Armbrust’s dedication spread. Yesterday, Armbrust said he was invited to participate in training camp, which begins Aug. 4. “I’m really happy,” said Armbrust, who had been scheduled to join the team Aug. 23, the first day of UH’s fall semester when rosters are allowed to expand.

OK, which ESPN sportscaster will be the first to refer to a leaky defense as a BP? Or a defensive stop as a static kill?

doing good. We’ve been eating out a lot with Nicholas choosing his favorite restaurants and staying up late watching a lot of old tv shows and movies. He goes back to Seattle tonight.

    808ike,

    Hey no worries!

    CONGRATS TO HOMEY.

It was a long night last night, but “Inception” is a MUST SEE. Well in my opinion. I can see how some or most might not like it and in the first 20 minutes you are already thrown in a loop as to what is happening, but it slows down enough for you to get the concept.

Bottom line is Christopher Nolan just directed another masterpiece.

  12. madeinhawaii July 20, 2010 8:18 am

Iosefa Tuitele… is he a new recruit? I know we have a Joey Iosefa (RB)

    Morning Everyome

  36. Stephen Tsai July 20, 2010 9:43 am

The thinking is to fill the gaps.
Freshmen John Lister, Joey Iosefa and Hogan Rosehill are the future. But after Alex Green and Chizzy Dimude graduate, it’s nice to have some upper classmen to compete.

  37. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 9:45 am

congrats, homey. Where will your wife permit you to post your poster?

  38. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 9:46 am

Congratulatons to DJ for being invited to fall camp – must like his “heart” and commitment as a Warrior!!!!!!!

  49. MichiganWarrior July 20, 2010 10:13 am

Great video of Lancer… good hands, breaks tackles, makes people miss, and fights hard for that extra yardage no matter where he is on the field. It’s like he has this mentality that he WILL get that yard, and no one will stop him. I love that fight in him! True Warrior! Should be a good, fun one to watch.

    CONGRATS TO MY MAN DJ!!!

  51. MichiganWarrior July 20, 2010 10:18 am

Wow! Burton’s video looks exactly like Lancer’s video! This is gonna be crazy having both on the field at the same time! They both take hits and keep going too! Love it! Coaches will have to devise some plays while both of them are in.

  52. MichiganWarrior July 20, 2010 10:23 am

Burton is shifty and has good vision, making cutbacks frequently on the video. Thing that is surprising is that he loves delivering the hits too! Man, some exciting times upcoming for Warrior football!

but you didn’t say where the Kobe poster is located.

  55. madeinhawaii July 20, 2010 10:31 am

Tuitele gives us another solid blocker in the back when necessary. That’ll help reinforce the Oline. He also looks like a back that can punch it in when called. I like it!

    Luke 6:35-38;42
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” … How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Mt Sac’s Coach Bob Jastrub has a pretty impressive record in the 5 seasons that he’s coached there. They run a 4-wide offense similar to the R-n-S. I’m surprised he hasn’t been enticed by some D-1 school.

  85. Garret July 20, 2010 11:29 am

I’m going to have a batch of posts now to try to catch up with the blog…my younger daughter, wife, and I were all sick since Sunday but we are mostly okay now. First issue:

    ST,

Short-term CD for the student fee revenue is a good point that I hadn’t considered. If Upper Campus can charge UHAD interest on the deficit, then UHAD should be able interest on its money. However, won’t there be a deficit each semester even with the student fee because half of the fee goes to the accumulated debt?

If UHAD is spending more than it takes in, the student fees go to expenses. Since the tuition for the scholarships comes at the start of each semester, before the revenues come in, UHAD is actually borrowing money to start each semester so it will be hard to justify trying to earn interest on the money from the fee while borrowing money to pay for tuition (and the fee).

  86. Loa July 20, 2010 11:30 am

    Kazz – #14, i agree

  87. Garret July 20, 2010 11:31 am

I do not think that the swap meet and state fair generate enough revenue to pay for all of the maintenance at the stadium–if so, why does the state have to come up with $110 million for things like safety improvements and fixes to the roof? UH is the one benefiting from those changes and the stadium revenues don’t cover those maintenance items.

  88. jojo ® July 20, 2010 11:31 am

    HI LOA!

  89. Loa July 20, 2010 11:31 am

    good thing get google 😆

  90. Garret July 20, 2010 11:32 am

I agree that what ST wrote was not intentionally misleading on the stadium ad issue, but there were people who read the statement and posted about how UH should be getting a cut of the advertising revenue during UH games…UH already does get advertising revenue during UH games, but it seemed like some people thought they weren’t getting any after reading the blog.

  91. Garret July 20, 2010 11:32 am

Al is correct, I meant to say that In-n-Out doesn’t have freezers.

  92. Garret July 20, 2010 11:32 am

BG, current iPhones wouldn’t work on Verizon because they use different communication technologies (CDMA vs. GSM). Apple reportedly *has* made an iPhone that would work on Verizon, but it hasn’t hit the market yet because Verizon hasn’t agreed to Apple’s monetary terms (AT&T pays Apple $450 per phone, Verizon pays Motorola/HTC/RIM $300 per phone, Verizon splits Android app revenue with Google while AT&T gets no iPhone app revenue from Apple).

  93. BIGWAVE96744 July 20, 2010 11:33 am

the good thing about DJ is he’s a true frosh…
another Slot who made the 105 is RSFrosh Corey Paclebar. Look for those two to push the upper classmen cracking the 3rd team.

DJ was a stand out track guy in HS so the guy has wheels. Corey is tough as nails and would be a great Punt retuner in the future.

Throw in Allen Samson and we are looking good at SB for years to come

  94. Loa July 20, 2010 11:33 am

    hiya jojo!

  95. Garret July 20, 2010 11:33 am

The relationship between AT&T and Apple is said to be similar to a loveless marriage. AT&T was shocked when Apple refused to reduce iPhone data usage–within a few months after the iPhone came out in 2007 AT&T realized that their network could NOT handle the high iPhone data usage, so they asked Apple to get YouTube to run only over WiFi or cut off YouTube videos after 1 minute…Apple refused. AT&T says (and Apple sources confirm) that Apple’s baseband software is full of bugs and causes dropped calls. Apple’s radio comes comes from Infineon, whose hardware is popular in Europe but it isn’t used much in the US because cell towers are placed farther apart in the US and reception is less forgiving.

Steve Jobs has apparently brought up dumping AT&T at least 6 times, the first time just a few months after the iPhone came out. Unfortunately for Apple, Verizon uses a different transmission technology that would require a new chipset…and when Apple’s group visited Qualcomm to see if they could get an iPhone on Verizon they found that the CDMA chips were a different size and Apple would have to rebuild the iPhone from scratch. A *lot* of fun dirt is discussed in this article, with both AT&T and Apple blaming the other company.

Off topic… for you food experts…

What’s a good price and source for unsalted, mixed nuts without peanuts? (Walgreen has lightly salted, roasted mixed nuts at 2/$7.00 – total 17 oz.) I want unsalted, raw or roasted. Preferably a mix of Cashews, almonds, Brazil nuts, Filberts, and pecans.

  97. Garret July 20, 2010 11:35 am

It looks like Sol will get another start this week. It is nice that Adam was added to the practice roster so he’s on the same team as Sol again.

Middle linebacker Anton McKenzie (ankle) did not practice Monday, meaning rookie Solomon Elimimian is likely to get his second straight start. … Import linebacker Adam Leonard, who roomed with Elimimian at the University of Hawaii, and non-import safety Doug Goldsby (U. B.C.) have been added to the practice roster.

  98. Garret July 20, 2010 11:36 am

Article about Adam being added to the practice roster.

The BC Lions Football Club officially announced today that import linebacker Adam Leonard and non-import safety Doug Goldsby have been added to the club’s practice roster.

Leonard comes to the Lions after a four-year career at the University of Hawaii (’05-’08) where he led the team in tackles as a sophomore and junior. He finished among all-time school leaders with 316 tackles (behind the all-time leader and current Lion Solomon Elimimian), to go with 5.5 sacks and five career interceptions. Leonard also recorded three defensive TDs for Hawaii during his time there. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009.

  99. madeinhawaii July 20, 2010 11:37 am

Gigi on it today good mid day to you

    Kazz that’s cold

  101. Garret July 20, 2010 11:38 am

If Anton McKenzie doesn’t get healthy quickly, Sol could end up earning his starting LB spot…Sol already was the #2 tackler for the team in his second start. If Sol can earn the starting spot, that will help Adam stay on the team.

If Anton McKenzie gets healthy quickly and returns to the starting lineup, that could mean that Sol would go to the practice roster. If Sol goes to the practice roster, Adam would get cut–especially since each CFL team can only have a limited number of non-Canadians. So, Sol is playing for both his career and for Adam’s career.

Interesting comments on this site about the mess at SMU right now. In response to SMU rejecting admission to a football player that passed NCAA requirements and was admitted to an Ivy League school:

    Trust me…it isn’t academics.

And it really isn’t the academicians, either.

This is all about incompetence in the AD’s office, and a school president who enjoyed making the football coach kowtow one too many times.

Last year they were working on a TV coach’s show with an outside production company. The AD decided he wanted it produced in-house, even though the department had no experience in that area. The show died. That’s one example of a hundred things that have galled Jones. Two of the biggest – a program Jones personally promoted for bringing inner city kids to games that the school shot down, and completely ignoring football alumni (not boosters, but ex-players). There are some serious hard feelings among them for Turner and Orsini.

They’ve also turned over the marketing department about six times now, and not used one of the ideas Jones proposed for bringing fans to the stadium – things like encouraging youth football teams to come, or neighbors in the Park Cities.

    Another person said:

I was really surprised when he made the move….sound like a “bait and switch” to me…..good chance he won’t be there at the end of the season.

Lot of teams would be more then happy to throw some money at him.

    Kazz,

You can get your new phone and get your new-every-2 credit 20 months after you got your Storm, you don’t have to wait a full 2 years. Verizon is also allowing people to move up their date up to 30 days, which is how I got rid of my Storm a little early and still got the NE2 credit.

I don’t know if JD is watching what is going on down there at SMU, but it would be cool if he could pull a rabbit out of his ahhhh hat, an get JJ back in the fold, give him a 5 year contract and at the end of 3 if he has a winning record for those 3 years automatic rollover for 3 years.

Some people would not like it but what the heck do they know. JJ would get us back to where we should be.

  107. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 12:01 pm

but didn’t SMU extend JJ’s contract recently? Wonder why JJ would do that when there are those issues that made him mad.

  108. madeinhawaii July 20, 2010 12:02 pm

I thought JJ recently stated that he would sign his contract extension?

  109. bb July 20, 2010 12:16 pm

  110. Garret July 20, 2010 12:17 pm

    gigi and MIH,

SMU announced that JJ had agreed to a contract extension 8 months ago…but he hasn’t signed that contract. There is no incentive for him to not sign the contract unless he really isn’t happy about some things going on.

Garret, this one was posted July 16. Apparently JJ is going to sign… or so it says.. lol

  114. Not an Expert July 20, 2010 12:38 pm

Jones is an alpha persona. He has the “IT” factor. Appears SMU heiarachy and booster with money have a conflict going while Jones is caught in the middle. Power and money in play. What a country.

I for one believe he will end up back at UH should Mack not get things rolling. Just my take.

  115. madeinhawaii July 20, 2010 12:41 pm

I don’t think JJ would come back if he thought he was responsible for getting his friend (Coach Mac) fired prematurely. But Coach Mack is 65… when he completes his contract he will be at an age where he can retire comfortably and come back as the DC.

He’s not bound, I don’t think, by the State mandatory retirement age, is he?

  116. madeinhawaii July 20, 2010 12:42 pm

Besides, I’m all for giving Coach Mack this year and the next to show what he can do.

  117. bb July 20, 2010 12:47 pm

Can you imagine if June were to come back? It would be like a rebirth, a new sense of excitement, and a true rendition of the run and shoot. The scoreboard lights would need constant replacing. Fans will be breaking their necks from looking side to side so quickly as the ball is being moved up and down the field. Games will be an hour longer due to the clocks stopping at the moving of the chains. .500 will not be the record we have but the amount of yards thrown per game.

Coach Jones if you are reading this please don’t sign.

Dave Reardon reported yesterday that JJ signed his 3 year contract last week putting him at SMU uintil 2014

    BigWave96744,

Actually, Dave Reardon said that JJ *agreed* to sign, not that he signed. By the way, SMU announced in December (before the Hawaii Bowl) that JJ *agreed* to sign his contract extension. 7 months later, he still apparently agrees…but hasn’t actually signed. This is from Reardon’s article:

But things are good enough in Jones’ eyes that he agreed last week to sign a three-year contract extension that keeps him in Dallas through 2014.

Two 90-year-old women, Rose and Barb had been friends all of their lives.

When it was clear that Rose was dying, Barb visited her every day.

One day Barb said, ‘Rose, we both loved playing women’s softball all our lives, and we played all through High School. Please do me one favor: when you get to Heaven, somehow you must let me know if there’s women’s softball there.’

Rose looked up at Barb from her deathbed and said, ‘Barb, you’ve been my best friend for many years. If it’s at all possible, I’ll do this favor for you.’

Shortly after that, Rose passed on.

A few nights later, Barb was awakened from a sound sleep by a blinding flash of white light and a voice calling out to her, ‘Barb, Barb.’

‘Who is it?’, asked Barb, sitting up suddenly. ‘Who is it?’

    ‘Barb — it’s me, Rose.’

‘You’re not Rose. Rose just died.’

‘I’m telling you, it’s me, Rose,’ insisted the voice.

    ‘Rose! Where are you?’

‘In Heaven,’ replied Rose. ‘I have some really good news and a little bad news.’

‘Tell me the good news first,’ said Barb.

‘The good news,’ Rose said, ‘is that there’s softball in Heaven. Better yet all of our old buddies who died before us are here, too. Better than that, we’re all young again. Better still, it’s always springtime, and it never rains or snows. And best of all, we can play softball all we want, and we never get tired.’

‘That’s fantastic,’ said Barb. ‘It’s beyond my wildest dreams! So what’s the bad news?’

    ‘You’re pitching Tuesday.’

Life is uncertain – eat dessert first. And have a BEER too..!!

  151. RainbowCliff July 20, 2010 4:38 pm

Good evening Tsaiko Nation: The word on USC is this Garret is out Pat Haden is in as he will bring in his boy J.K. McKay to become the Associate AD. Garret will retire at 66 with a retirement package from the University as he served AD for the past 17 years. Haden is road scholar and was a tremendous quaterback for the Trojans as his tutleage under John Mckay and political / lawyer background will be a different leadership as he wants athletes to graduate, compete at the highest level and have athletes be more part of general university life.

Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo will have no athletic jersey recognition, murals or plaques displayed at Heritage Hall or LA Coliseum as Bush Heisman will be return to the Heismen Trust by August. Pete Carrol is in town promoting his book as he states publically that he left USC not for the pending sanctions but that Seattle gave him an offer he could not refuse as NO NCAA infractions were label at him.

Freshmen all american offensive linemen Seantrel Henderson will end up at Miami or Ohio State, Junior Defensive end Malik Jackson Tennesse, Junior Linebacker Jordan Cambell Louisville and freshmen redshirt corner back Byron Moore to Harbor JC for one year then entertaining offers. In case point ALL is not lost at USC as they have 11 verbal commitments for 2011 and still have a team of athletes that will be coming September 2nd.

With Pat on board don’t know if I can get in to see a practice as Robert Woods uncle plays tennis with me in Carson and “USC Trojan Land” is becoming “locked down” as oppose to Pete’s celebrities on the sidelines, star athletes in the locker room and vip invites over the years as he WON in what USC wanted as unfortunatly there were no “restraints” with Reggie Bush !

The cubbard is not completely empty as TOP under classmen as well as starting players are still Trojans as I hope the Warriors MUST come to play and don’t read into the demise of USC football probation as they will come still loaded with talented athletes and will definetly RUN up the score just to show the Nation “WE ARE SC” !

Will update further on USC when resources and details come along.

The secret mahi mahi at “WORK” !

    Aloha !

My best friend is a grad, so of course I hate ’em. Screw USC. Rich California boys. They cheat. Pat Haden = good. I trust that guy.
Only thing about USC that reverberates here is that you gotta be kidding me if anyone thinks Gibby didn’t know what was going on with OJ Mayo.
I mean, he was the main recruiter for USC. He had to have known.
But I still trust Gib. He’s a Mormon boy.
And it’s better to cheat and win then suck in hoops like we have the last two years. Like Barkley says, “If you ain’t cheatin, you ain’t trying.”

Manoa Mist: FUNNY as your right “University Of Spoil Children” as they really do believe they are privelage as their alumni are HUGE around the country with that attitude !

Gib does know on OJ Mayo as the word here that Tim Floyd paid a large amount to a middlemen for OJ to sign as a Trojan with only one year playing as going pro was a certainty.

Arnold got some NEW recruits that can play as this team will be a LOT better then last athletically BUT the jury is still out IF Coach Gib can X and O while changing strategies during games and developing chemistry among his young players ?

    We will see !

TO ALL THE GREEN (and other colored) BOTTLE DRINKERS – a WARNING!!!

Beer contains female hormones! Yes, that’s right, FEMALE hormones!

Last month, Montreal University and scientists released the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer. Men should take a concerned look at their beer consumption. The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain Phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women.

To test the theory, 100 men each drank 8 schooners of beer within a one (1) hour period.

It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects, yes, 100% of all these men:-

    1) Argued over nothing.
    2) Refused to apologize when obviously wrong.
    3) Gained weight.
    4) Talked excessively without making sense.
    5) Became overly emotional
    6) Couldn’t drive.
    7) Failed to think rationally, and
    8) Had to sit down while urinating.

No further testing was considered necessary!

Soy is also high in phytoestrogens which in turn increases estrogen in your body. The estrogen hormone is responsible for baldness, cancer, everything you pointed out and according to the study by Doctors at Kuakini Heart disease. You might remember their study which got the tofu makers upset a few years ago.

I hesitate to suggest the following since I may not be able to take part, but if Tsaikos are looking for a way to raise finds for UH Athletics, a good possibility is staffing the election precincts. The State is having a hard time finding enough workers to staff all of the precincts for the Primary and General elections. Pays $85 for a full day’s work. I’ve done it before. It’s not hard, although you work 12+ hours. I believe you can designate a non- profit to receive your pay. Not only would you be able to fund the UHAD, but you would also be taking part in the democratic process. Just a thought. . .

The reason I’m here late at night is because it takes me at least half a day to get out of bed. The other half of the day is spent getting off the toilet.

  174. Curt July 20, 2010 9:03 pm

    OldDiver,

That’s more info than I need to know. :p In that case, I’ll refuse to get old. But unfortunately, that’s too late.

  175. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 9:10 pm

    Old Diver,

Fortunately, that’s not my problem. I don’t know why, but I get just 5 hrs sleep at night. Now and then, I’ll take a 20 min nap during the day, but usually not. FIVE HOURS!!! I’m not making that up.

I think Jay Leno said he sleeps just 3-4 hrs per night. Is that why his hair is white? LOL.

  176. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 9:12 pm

    Curt,

I remember you from the 2008 blog bash at the SSC. You look well preserved in your old age.

How is your wife? She looked well preserved, also.

  177. wafan July 20, 2010 9:44 pm

    Nytal!

    Off to LAS tomorrow.

  178. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 9:45 pm

good night, wafan. sorry i was unable to lunch with you today.

  179. Slugger July 20, 2010 9:57 pm

Night, wafan! Safe travels to LV.

  180. Slugger July 20, 2010 9:59 pm

Practice tomorrow at 7 am. I should go to bed early.

  181. Curt July 20, 2010 10:19 pm

    gigi,

My wife and I are well preserved? Must be some excellent embalming solution. 😉

  182. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 10:24 pm

    Curt,

    Happiness is a great preservative!

  183. Stephen Tsai July 20, 2010 10:35 pm

It’s nice that Mufi announced what was apparent for a long time. But did his supporters have to block the traffic today?

  184. Curt July 20, 2010 10:37 pm

    gigi,

You mean I have to be happy? Okay. I’ll give it a shot. If UH can pull off the miracle against the men of Troy, I know I’ll be happy…and well preserved too.

  185. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 10:41 pm

ST, you were at Restaurant Row. Which street was Mufi blocking?

  186. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 10:42 pm

    Curt,

a win against USC would make me dizzy with joy.

  187. Curt July 20, 2010 10:45 pm

    Stephen,

Been too busy to catch the news. Mufi must’ve officially announced his gubernatorial ambitions.

  188. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 10:48 pm

Yep, Kurt Caldwell is now acting mayor. But, I’ll probably vote for Carlisle.

  189. gigi-hawaii July 20, 2010 10:55 pm

It’s the bewitching hour! Night, everyone!

  190. Stephen Tsai July 20, 2010 11:25 pm

I was heading home, in a rush, for my kid’s basketball game.
So I tried to go up Punchbowl to get to the Pali. You have to go on King first, past the Water department and Queen’s Medical Center. They were camped out on the corner of King and Punchbowl, slowing up traffic, and then up Punchbowl.
I don’t mind sign-wavers. I just don’t like the ones who lean into traffic. It’s dangerous.
Same as the people who hold signs for car washes.

  191. Capitol -ist/WassupDoc July 21, 2010 12:11 am

    OFF-TOPIC:

We need the services of a licensed electrician to install a timer on our hot water heater. Using the Yellow Pages, we’ve called over a dozen electricians starting back in mid-May. We have yet to find someone willing to take the job – either no one returns DrDoc’s initial call or the electrician sets an appointment and then postpones it. The most recent guy has canceled the appointment three times and is unwilling to set another one.

If you know of a competent licensed electrician who would be wiling to come to Kailua to install a timer on our hot water heater, please e-mail me at swood at hoku dot com. Please be sure to include your real name and your daytime phone number so I can get the name & contact information.

    Mahalo.

Re sgn-holding – I have the dubious distrinction of being the first sign-holder to be struck by a car. Not fun, not fun at all.

The incident occurred two days before the General Election in 1988 – I was holding one end of a huge banner supporting the Sandy Beach Initiative Coalition when two cars collided. One spun out of control & took me out. It was some 16 months after the accident that I was finally released from medical care. Oh, well, I suppose it could have been worse – like dying.

  192. RainbowCliff July 21, 2010 2:38 am

#171 old diver: I am saying Gib Arnold was head of recruiting as he knew what was going on but maybe had no means of the illegal payments for Mayo services. O’Neil inherited Arnold from Tim Floyd regime but after last season let him go as Arnold had no job until Hawaii open up. Don’t know Mr. Arnold but knew his Father who coached those tough BYU teams of the mid 70’s and early 80’s.

You are right about OJ but he was not found guilty of killing Nicole only guilty in the eyes of the public as his in ability of living his normal life once again has got him incarcerated for quite some time in a Las Vegas prison.

#164 Checkersnpogo: You are right “Rhodes Scholar” as some how I really got my homonyms twisted on that subject. Thank you for the correction as many times I rode the “bus” with your GREAT road scholars getting me to many destinations around Oahu !

  205. fur fetish August 2, 2010 10:08 pm

Does anybody know whats happening with fur at all?

Is it back in fashion now?

I know that it’s politically incorrect, and I know why some people don’t think it’s right to make fashion accessories from the skin of an animal, but I seem to have seen a few women wearing it lately.

    Thanks

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
