Countdown to signing day
The Warriors are concluding their second January recruiting weekend.
Decisions are expected this week.
There’s one weekend remaining before the Feb. 1 signing day.

Former UH linebacker Jerrol Garcia-Williams and receiver Makoa Camanse-Stevens are training on campus in preparation for pro day in March. No date yet, but the likelihood is a return to Azusa Pacific. Former UH linebacker Victor Santa Cruz is Azusa Pacific’s head coach.

Bit windy, but glad the sun is out today. Positive memory for tripping recruits. Fair sailing to Jerrol Garcia-Williams and Makoa Camanse-Stevens.
going and coming home – head winds were hurricane strength — low of 82 mph and high of 121 mph
no wonder it took us 6 1/2 hours to come home — then, almost an hour before bags arrived at baggage claim
A-House,
Just glad you and your Ohana made it home safely.
To date, this may be the most important two weeks of Rolo’s career at UH. I want to wish Coach and the entire staff all the luck in the world but I won’t, because I trust in their preparation and dedication to pride rock. Let’s see all your hard work pay off these two weeks.
Aloha all.
GOOD LUCK BRO!. Everybody here Northwest Las Vegas wishing you great life in the NFL like your father did Mr. Williams and also Steven too!
My daughter must have been on the same flight as you, A-House. She called me when she arrived, so I allowed just a few minutes to leave Ewa Beach to pick her up. Normally it works, but today I drove around 8 times because it was an hour before the bags started coming out. She said the returning Wahine basketball team got their bags before the passengers on her flight although they arrived earlier. So my conclusion is Hawaiian arrives on time. but don’t expect your bags to be there on time.
Oregon is showing that all the money in the world can’t overcome stupid. Maybe Matautia and all other Oregon recruits should reconsider their choice of schools.
Howzit Tsaikos!
Seems like it’s Hawaiian’s SOP these days. Screecher’s bags took 45 min to arrive, ours took almost as long in November.
H-man – best thing to do is to wait at the cell phone “lot” on that side of the airport, or wait until the bags start arriving before you leave the house.
Hawaiian used to have flights from like everywhere – Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas – all arriving 11 t0 noon or so. That’s over 1,000 people arriving in 1 lobby within a few minutes of each other, then all the planes turn around and leave between 1 and 3.
JM1234 – we used to wait at Byron’s Drive In to pick up incoming passengers and have a bite to eat.
burro – our flight arrived late night (after 9).
methinks HAL needs to hire more baggage handlers
jm2375, I used to wait at the cellphone lot, but my daughter said no-need, she’ll call me when she arrives. Just allow a few minutes then leave the house. Well, it used to work, but then she was flying Alaska Airline and no holdup at baggage claims. With Hawaiian, seems like have to leave the house after 45 minutes from arrival. Another funny thing. I asked on arrival, you want to eat? Yeah, I’m hungry. Let’s go to Zippy’s. Of all the places we could have gone, she wanted her Zippy’s fix.
H-man – Screecher’s first stop is usually L&L for loco moco or 7-11 for Spam musubi.
JM5678, wow nighttime shouldn’t take that long. Usually when we return on the 9 pm flight we might have to wait just a few minutes after riding the shuttle back from the overseas gates.
Congrats Atlanta LB coach Jeff Ulbrich #55 in our hearts.
H-Man, jm; burro:
HAL baggage totally sucks – we fly them a lot and yesterday arrival was the worst — Keoni Wagner got tired of me calling and complaining about many of their operational parts — guess they are enamored with being 1st for “on-time” arrival
leaving late and slow baggage service must be near the bottom of passenger comfort!
H-Man: must agree that Alaska’s landing to getting baggage must be near or at the top for efficiency
Alaska planes are much smaller so faster download. Alaska baggage claim is close to the arrival gate; only couple minutes away. HAL aircraft much larger, mechanized but much much more to download and at least a fifteen minute drive to baggage claim when pulling bags. The logistics just don’t make quick baggage retrieval possible. Should be waaaay better after the State goes through with the planned expansion and modernization of the inter island terminal. Call State DOT with your concerns. Everyone wins after they get their expansion completed.
#10 “Burro Sabio” … aw man you are bringing back memories of the BEST Cheeseburger in this town … sad to say replaced by the WORST-McDONALDS !!!
When I worked night shift at the airport (due to lack of seniority), I’d hit Byron’s before heading home … Double Cheeseburger or Bacon & Egg Sandwich, Shrimp Burger, Fries, and a side of Cole Slaw. Would wash it down w/ a couple of beers … MAN I MISS BYRON’S …
LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS !!!!!
Doubt it…been talking about expansion forever!! Remember we are dealing with the state of Hawaii. Snails pace=over budget and palm greasing=someone’s cousins sisters uncle is getting rich. Haha
Just saw Lutu-Clarke committed to Oregon State. Not sure if he was even on our list of targets one way or the other. Like I said totally subscribe to the concept of only wanting those that want to be here. Certainly hope no major concerns of local talent shipping out. Plenty of talent to go around. Saw that a bill was introduced to entice Pro-Bowl back and an NFL exhibition game-how bout this, introduce a bill to support the Athletics at UH. The state and University need to wake up and get into modern times! GoWarriors!!!!!!
Great Morning All!
No Toilet Paper Party
And Byron’s was so organized. And deelushious 🙂
By organized, I mean the gals at the windows.
They made you feel like family.
I don’t blame local kids who are filled with the wanderlust of playing on the continent and a P-5 conference. Personal choice, so more power and best of luck to them. There’s always been a prevailing attitude of “The mainland is mo bettah” that UH coaches have always had to contend with. I’m confident that Coach Rolo and his staff will bring in their share of talented players, regardless of whether they’re from here or not.
Good career move by former Warrior and Falcon’s LBs coach Jeff Ulbrich. Dude was a beast at UH (coming form a JUCO) who played on one good knee during his junior year in 98.
Aww why did you guys have to bring up Byron’s Drive-In. Miss that place a ton too. Best shrimp burger and yup a double cheeseburger with fries. Same owners as old Andy’s in Kailua. Used to offer 5 cheeseburgers for a dollar back in the day. And they owned Chowder House in Ward Warehouse too. I guess the kids just didn’t want to take over.
“24 … “Turfwar” … Oh Yeah Andy’s in Kailua … I believe they also owned Orson’s Bourbon House in Kailua, as well as Fishmonger’s Wife (Ala Moana Shopping Center), one at Ward Center who’s name slips my mind but it was a well known establishment back in the day, Chowder House in the Ward Warehouse and someone correct me if I’m wrong but Byron’s Steak House also in the Ala Moana Shopping Center … MAN WHAT I WOULD GIVE RIGHT NOW FOR ONE OF THEIR DOUBLE CHEESEBURGERS AND A SHRIMP BURGER !!!!!
LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS …
WHAT A SHIBAI BILL TO GET THE PRO BOWL, ETC. BACK;
WHY NOT A BILL TO HAVE THE NCAA BE FAIR AND EQUITABLE IN THEIR TREATMENT REGARDING POWER 5 SCHOOLS LIKE NORTH CAROLINA VS. ALL THE OTHER SCHOOLS LIKE U.H.?
AND ANOTHER BILL TO HAVE ALL THE ALL SCHOOLS MAKING $10MILLION OR MORE PUT THE MONEY IN A POOL FOR ALL SCHOOLS TO USE AS NEEDED FOR THEIR SPORTS PROGRAMS, SUCH AS PAYING FOR VISITING TEAMS’ AIR FARE, AND FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION, ETC.?
AND A 3RD BILL REQUIRING ALL TEAMS TO TRAVEL THE SAME AMOUNT OF MILES U.H. TRAVELS BEFORE THEY CAN BE CONSIDERED FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP?
Talking about Byrons drive in I miss the oyster burger and the loco moco. Does anyone miss jolly rogers also. I miss that place also. Suzie Q burger with onion rings. Damn I’m getting hungry…
