Today is the first day of the spring-recruiting period, and seven UH football coaches are visiting high schools today.
Coaches are allowed to check on the academic and athletic progress of junior prospects, meaning they can meet with the players’ counselors and coaches. During the period, the coaches also may make a phone call to a prospect.

Like many Hawaii adults, Craig Cofer will be working a second job on a part-time basis.
Cofer, who was moved back to tight end this past week, will remain there through the 2013 season. But because of the shortage of defensive ends, he also will help out on that side of the line of scrimmage..
UH coach Norm Chow praised Cofer as a “want-to guy” who works hard and wants to contribute in several areas. Cofer gets his chance this spring.
