Closing time

In another example of these difficult economic times, the Barefoot League will be closing its store this month.

The Barefoot League has had a long association with Warrior alumni in signing shows and charitable enterprises. The company sponsored an annual golf tournament and football clinics. Former Warriors such as Colt Brennan, Davone Bess, Ryan Grice-Mullins, Leonard Peters and Maa Tanuvasa have been volunteers at several events.

Owner Jacky Buder said he is breaking the lease early and the company will be leaving its Kapahulu site on July 21. The store will sell its clothing apparel through July 17. After the store closes BL products can be purchased at Town & Country or barefootleague.com.

Buder said the final signing show is July 7, from noon to 2 p.m., at the 880 Kapahulu Avenue. There will be limited-edition T-shirts of former Warriors Greg Salas and Kealoha Pilares. Both will be signing autographs.

Good Morning! Thanks for the memories Barefoot League (& WAC)! Wedded Bliss Blessings to Rauscher!

June 30th! iPhone is Five today? Where has time gone?

Seems like 2012 is racing to ‘The End’! I’m not worried, for me the glass is always half full not half empty. Still– better get that prepper bug out bag ready. 🙂

  10. tommui June 30, 2012 5:20 am

    GOOD MORNING HAWAII!

Best wishes to Coach Phil Rauscher!

    Great Saturday, all!

Congratulations to the soon to be M/M Rauscher!

  14. wafan June 30, 2012 5:56 am

Too bad about the Barefoot League.

Good luck to the owners and displaced workers.

  15. Shoko June 30, 2012 5:57 am

So, Tom and Katie are divorcing. Hopefully Tom realizes that he’s not the marrying type. If it was me, after the first failed marriage, I’ll definitely not get married again. I’ll just live in sin. Besides, its cheaper that way. 😉

  16. wafan June 30, 2012 5:58 am

    Hey WAC . . .

    See ya!

  17. Shoko June 30, 2012 6:03 am

I was thinking (I know – thats dangerous), but why doesn’t Barefoot League just specialize in online retail. Less overhead cost to offset a decline in revenue.

  18. wafan June 30, 2012 6:04 am

So, a bunch of the WAC’d refs are out of jobs.

Are they going to show up in the MWC?

    Will the strange calls continue?

  19. Shoko June 30, 2012 6:21 am

Wonder if Andrew Manley considered transfering considering the WAC disintegration.

  20. Shoko June 30, 2012 6:23 am

    Last chance to feel WAC-y?

  25. bleedgreen June 30, 2012 6:59 am

Yeah. An update on Manley would be interesting. And curious that UH is entertaining another QB; one with only 2-years of eligibility.

  26. Da Punchbowl Kid June 30, 2012 7:35 am

    Good Morning Gangeez!

    Beeg Heelo –

So I guess you and Shon-Shon got da ball rolling. Dat’s good. Keep errybody updated.

    Eight…

  30. A-House June 30, 2012 8:44 am

While I am happy to see another airline challenge Hawaiian for flights to and from Vegas, about time, it could be a pose a problem for UH if Allegiant Air has lower rates than Hawaiian for flights to California or Vegas.

  31. Ipu Man June 30, 2012 8:52 am

    Cheap is cheap…

  32. Ipu Man June 30, 2012 8:53 am

I would rather fly Hawaiian than any other airline…anywhere.

  33. SteveM June 30, 2012 9:08 am

Hasn’t Allegiant Air also started a non-stop to Fresno? Fresno? Thrilling news…and not. 😐

    Whoo-hoo!!!

  35. kev-1 June 30, 2012 9:19 am

Any intel on the Duke QB who is interested in Hawaii? What type of offense does he come from?

  36. el burro sabio June 30, 2012 9:43 am

We wait and see. He hasn’t thrown one pass as a college QB.

  37. Stephen Tsai June 30, 2012 9:51 am

  38. tommui June 30, 2012 9:57 am

  40. Slugger June 30, 2012 10:08 am

    ST ~

go! Airlines is go-ing back to using their go! name, instead of including the go!-Mokulele name. They’re still flying, but charging a lot more now.

    Good morning, gang!

    Congratulations, Coach Rauscher!

Hope Barefoot League continues successful sales online & at T&C.

  41. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 30, 2012 10:08 am

Good to hear that Chow is going after the Duke QB. With Shutter down, we could sure use him.

Hope he gets into grad school.

  42. Kaleo_1 June 30, 2012 10:13 am

What sad news, Jacky is an awesome guy- bright young mind- represented Kaimuki well- best of luck to him!

  43. el burro sabio June 30, 2012 10:17 am

It’s bad to hear that Chow is pursuing this QB (unless he’s walking on). That means some of the four QBs currently on the roster are not up to the task.

  44. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 30, 2012 10:22 am

    el burro,

it’s only bad if the Duke kid doesn’t get in or if he gets in and is a bust. I think he has a lot of potential. Especially given that he was under Cutcliffe.

  45. Farouche June 30, 2012 10:23 am

I read the Sports Illustrated article on Colt a few days ago and can’t stop thinking about it. Is there a way we can organize a petition to get Saskatchewan to release the practice tapes to Colt? I really want to see him get a fair shot before it’s too late.

  46. SteveM June 30, 2012 10:33 am

  48. jm2375 June 30, 2012 10:43 am

    Good morning Tsaikos!

    Congrats to Coach Rauscher!

Goodbye, WAC. Thanks for everything and nothing.

  49. el burro sabio June 30, 2012 10:44 am

    IWWTHM,

Just the fact that they would consider someone who didn’t throw one pass in three years at Duke under Cutcliffe, says a lot to me about the current QB depth. He didn’t beat out Renfree, nor Boone (a freshman). If he came from, say, Clemson or VaTech and never played, I would see it differently. If he’s walking on, I’m all in. If I’m wrong, that’s great!

  50. bleedgreen June 30, 2012 10:55 am

Duke’s top 3 QBs coming out of spring were Sean Renfree, Anthony Boone and Brandon Connette. Duke runs a no-huddle, spread offense and hopes to average 30+ points per game this coming season.

  51. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 30, 2012 10:57 am

    el burro,

I know what you are saying. I think if Shutter was competing this whole time we would be ok and a #1 would have been named. The pickings at QB sound to be pretty slim at the moment. I’m guessing Chow saw enough of this Duke kid to think he can contribute come the fall.

  52. Stephen Tsai June 30, 2012 11:04 am

It’s weird. They promised Colt the tape within a week of his release. I guess they don’t want it out.

  53. whitey June 30, 2012 11:17 am

ST, did they claim executive priviledge???

  54. WarriorNY June 30, 2012 11:24 am

    Hi all,

I just wanted to put a reminder out there’s a CC for NYC…

    When? July 28 @ 5:30 PM

Where? Carmine in the Theatre district, 200 West 44th Street New York, NY 10036

    RSVP at Warriorny@gmail.com

It’s great Italian food served family style. I hope to see you all there…

  55. WarriorNY June 30, 2012 11:27 am

Crap I did it again… I’m so used to writing my email address without the stuff. Oh well… I can deal with the spam… Just let me know if you want to come out!

  56. Stephen Tsai June 30, 2012 11:28 am

    Gigi:

My kids stayed at your complex last night. You have a park?

  57. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 11:31 am

WarriorNY: I never worry about spam.

On yahoo, all spam is sent to the spam box, not to my inbox, and I can delete all spamat once by pressing a button.

Even on my blog, I get almost no spam, because Akismet kills all of it.

  58. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 11:32 am

ST: We have 2 parks in the Village. Did your kids stay indoors at the rec center or out on the lawn?

  59. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 11:34 am

Hubby and I had a busy morning. We went to Straub for Hepatitis A and B injections. Owie!

Then 2 other places on our errand list.

For lunch, we probably will have egg rolls from Jack n the Box.

  60. Stephen Tsai June 30, 2012 11:37 am

Egg rolls are appetizers. What’s for lunch?

  61. Farouche June 30, 2012 11:46 am

What’s up, guys! I’m in Burbank, CA. I’ve met the blog master several times at road games and Pro Days. I’ve lurked here for many years but the Saskatchewan thing really bothered me. Is there anything we can do as Colt supporters to get Saskatchewan to release those tapes?

  62. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 11:48 am

ST: these egg rolls are humongous. Three for me is plenty.

Question: the commercials always say the food is made to order. Hubby wants to know why it takes just 2 minutes to get the order. Do they pre-cook the egg rolls and then reheat them in the microwave?

Any Jack n the Box employees out there?

  63. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 11:51 am

Farouche: When we were in Burbank years ago, we visited the Tonight Show and saw Jay Leno. He’s such a funny guy. We had a good time.

  64. WarriorNY June 30, 2012 12:05 pm

    Farouche,

How’s it going? I will def sign any petition you got going… I used to live in Burbank a few years ago (off Magnolia). I hope Burbank is treating you well…

  67. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 12:44 pm

Howzit, everyone! Hit 106 degrees just after lunch today. But everything pales to hearing that some old Army friends and some relatives of some hanabata dayz friends lost their homes in this Colorado fire. Prayers to all that are affected. So many irreplaceable treasures… lost forever.

Sad to hear about the BL closing it’s doors. Hope they will continue with signing shows, and can forge new successes online.

    Goodbye, WAC.

Can’t believe those Sasquatch still haven’t release Colt’s tapes! They didn’t want him, so why hold him back from chasing his dream?

And finally, gratz and best wishes to the new M/M Phil Rauscher!!!

  68. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 12:53 pm

And as a reminder for all of you, as well as people in this area who have no plans (or junk plans) for tomorrow…

    Georgia Force v. Orlando Predators

3pm at the Arena at Gwinnett Center

    (Doors open at 2pm)

We are parking in the “peanut” parking lot… first left off of Sugarloaf Parkway, after crossing (west-bound) Satellite Blvd.

We should be there between 1-2pm. Will tailgate a bit while waiting for the doors to open.

Will be hot again tomorrow, with projected high at 102 degrees. Dress accordingly… but make sure it’s Warrior Green!!!

Many of us are starting out in Section 112 (yes, the cheap $10 seats!) We may move down to the Bud Light Zone behind the endzone. Bring your over-21 ID if you intend on joining us on the arena floor.

Meet and greet the boyz on the field after the game… take pics, get autographs, talk story… AND we will sing something to spread a little aloha to our Georgia friends. No ack shy!

Come out and support Bryant Moniz and Richard Torres!!!

  69. Farouche June 30, 2012 12:55 pm

Here is the petition. This is the first time I’m doing this so let me know if you have suggestions. Otherwise, please sign and share it so we can get Colt his tape.

    http://www.change.org/petitions/saskatchewan-roughriders-release-colt-brennan-s-practice-tape-to-him

  70. SteveM June 30, 2012 1:01 pm

Farouche — thanks for the city info. Look for the Low-Cal (lower CA) Tsai-kos near you. 🙂

  71. Shoko June 30, 2012 1:19 pm

Is this Force game being steamed online again?

If so, I think MW should paint his face green just in case we see him when they pan the camera.

  72. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 1:25 pm

Not sure if it will be or not, as we will be at the game. But, you can always check their home page to see if the link takes you to a live stream…

    http://www.georgiaforce.com/

Just click the “Catch us on Ustream” picture about halfway down on the page.

By the way, if you click on it now, you can watch previous games. Last week’s game is up to watch too.

  73. Shoko June 30, 2012 1:25 pm

Wonder if this racism in sports refers to reverse racism. Friend wrote his thesis on this topic. Reading…

  74. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 1:25 pm

Not sure if we have any green face paint left…

  75. Shoko June 30, 2012 1:26 pm

Cool MW, I’ll check it out….mahalo.

  76. Shoko June 30, 2012 1:35 pm

Well, no need green face paint. Just wear something that can be recognized. Something UH-eee.

Okay, that racism article is racism in the traditional sense. Not reverse. Reading next article….

  77. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 1:54 pm

Most of us will be wearing Warrior Green. Some will be in those black jerseys with the green numbers. One of my daughters will be in a white Wahine Volleyball shirt, just to be “different”. I’m told some are bringing UH flags and even a state of Hawaii flag.

  78. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 2:03 pm

Mahalo, Farouche (#71 above)! Signed and sent to 16 (daily limit) on Facebook.

  79. Stephen Tsai June 30, 2012 2:35 pm

  81. tommui June 30, 2012 3:03 pm

Chris Maathuis, sports director of #8news (Las Vegas) reports that BSU will stay in the MWC.

Hawaiian Mongoose seems to participate a lot in the MWC blog!

There were some comments that (if true) the Big East probably would not want SDSU without BSU – let alone Fresno.

    Very Interesting.

Wish GARRET was around to sort out all this stuff.

  82. Shoko June 30, 2012 3:30 pm

I’ll believe it when I hear it from Crippes and Murphy of the Idaho Statesman. Sounds like Maathius might be drumming up twitter reactions.

    karma is karma.

  89. Kekoa June 30, 2012 3:57 pm

Congratulations to Stretch for firing an ace on the #11 par 3 hole at Waikele. He says it was a temporary green since the regular green was under repair. For those of you who have had to play temp greens, it’s usually pretty tough to get a true roll.

So Stretch since it was a ‘temporary’ Hole-in-One, are you awarded just a temporary title? If so, what is the expiration date on it?

  90. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 4:01 pm

Kekoa: hubby is so gullible. When I told him you are picking us up in your limo, he wanted to know if you have a limousine company. hahaha.

  91. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 4:01 pm

Stretch: congrats! Is this your very first ace?

  92. Derek June 30, 2012 4:02 pm

Michael phelps does it again. Woods moving up. Garnett returning to the Celtics. Free agents galore. Very interesting in the days ahead.

  93. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 4:04 pm

Derek: nothing like a little competition to keep Phelps striving to do his best.

  94. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 4:13 pm

Anybody want SteveM to buy you dinner at the Mongolian BBQ? Kekoa, Diane(?), David and I will be there.

The 1st person to answer this question wins the free dinner: Who is the well known Tsaiko, who is famous for his gas grilling of meats? Check yesterday’s blog for clues.

This is the Mongolian BBQ located at FT Shafter.

    (a) Any Member Institution may resign from membership in the Conference effective June 30 of each year (the “Effective Date”) by delivering written notice to the Conference and the other Members on or before the preceding June 30th (the “Notice Date”).

I would imagine that it would have to be Mountain Time as the Conference is Headquartered in Colorado. Notice that BSU would have to notify each member of the MWC. The date June 30 has nothing to do with weekends, holidays etc but June 30th absolutely.

  104. tommui June 30, 2012 4:27 pm

Sorry folks, small kine A.D.D. Today

  116. HawaiiMongoose June 30, 2012 4:49 pm

So ST, will you be able to let us know after the deadline whether UH received notice of BSU’s departure today? The clock strikes midnight at MWC headquarters in Denver in less than three hours.

  117. tommui June 30, 2012 4:49 pm

I don’t know what it means by “delivering written notice”.

I would assume FAX would be OK. But there is a legal question whether “delivering written notice” would mean actual delivery or whether it can be done by posting it in the mails.

Of course if BSU depends on the US Mail, they better get it to the post office and get it properly postmarked – being a bit difficult on a Saturday and at the last minute as well!

  118. Kekoa June 30, 2012 4:51 pm

    Gigi ~

That’s pretty close to the truth. My nephew owns a limo service…in Sacramento. He picks us up when we are up that way, which is not often. His regular client is the Maloof Bros. (and sis). It’s the capital city, so he has plenty of clients.

I’m looking at July 12th for the dinner. They open at 5:00 PM. I can come by at 4:30 to pick you up.

All Tsaiko’s, Tsaikettes are invited. Just be sure to have your Driver’s license, car registration & insurance up to date for the gate guard.

  119. Kekoa June 30, 2012 4:52 pm

Re #83, tommui, it’s true I spend quite a bit of time (probably too much) on the MWC and NCAAbbs message boards. Also on the WAC board until recently. The whole conference realignment saga has been fascinating to watch. As the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction.

  121. Ipu Man June 30, 2012 4:56 pm

Chad Owens 6 catches and 200 all purpose yards in a lost today…

  122. Last Call June 30, 2012 5:00 pm

LOL, if you listen to he Boise fans the sky is falling.

  123. BG June 30, 2012 5:04 pm

    HI gang!

Music to my ears…Chad doing well and BSU in anguish… 😀

  124. tommui June 30, 2012 5:05 pm

#123 HawaiiMongoose – LOL – I know what you mean – I even scout out BigEast and the SD to see what their reaction is!

Be interesting if SDSU is out of the Big East if BSU doesn’t go.

  125. BG June 30, 2012 5:06 pm

    Oh WOW…Congratulations Stretch!!! Awesome achievement…

  126. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 5:12 pm

Gratz, Stretch! I can’t even do that in putt-putt golf! Woohoo!!! Way to go!

    Da gas griller is… hmmm… A-House?!… maybe?

  127. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 30, 2012 5:16 pm

    #127,

More like if the Big East doesn’t beg SDSU to leave. No sense in having just one team out in west. They are better off inviting UTEP and SoMiss or something.

  128. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 30, 2012 5:22 pm

Well, A-joe was correct…Boise Not Going, cuz Boise Is Gone.

  129. tommui June 30, 2012 5:22 pm

    #131 – thanks WarriorNY.

So it is official – BSU stays in the MWC (at least for now)

  130. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 5:23 pm

KEKOA: OK, hubby and I will wait for you to pick us up at 4:30 on July 12, thursday.

    Mahalo!

I saw the link, but it doesn’t give a price for the BBQ.

  131. tommui June 30, 2012 5:24 pm

Sorry – left out #133 “will not stay”

I assume UH got their letter.

  132. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 30, 2012 5:25 pm

    #133,

    No, BSU left the MWC.

  133. DoubleB June 30, 2012 5:26 pm

    Tom,

No it said BSU is leaving the MWC.

  134. gigi-hawaii June 30, 2012 5:29 pm

KEKOA: I lost your email address and phone number. Please email me the info when you can. mahalo.

  135. Last Call June 30, 2012 5:37 pm

Conflicting reports out of Vegas. One guy says they are leaving other guy says no they are returning.

  136. mctruck June 30, 2012 5:37 pm

I would be very disappointed if the BW allowed BSU other sports into the conference…don’t see information from BW site which confirm such. I’m thinking that BSU went with other sports in WAC as last ditch no matter the future outcome. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have given their resignation from MWC.

  137. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 5:39 pm

ST… I just sent you a message on Facebook. I hope you can verify that it’s TRUE!!! Oh please, oh please, oh please!!! Umm… erm… I’m ok. I’m cool. Calm and cool.

Oh hey, what’s up everyone! *whistling sidewalk-strolling music*

How about the weather today? Pretty hot day for us here on the mainland. *still whistling*

  138. Last Call June 30, 2012 5:40 pm

I’m more inclined to believe UNLV president Neal Smatresk.

  139. RedZone June 30, 2012 5:40 pm

Wonder if Boise’s other sports will go independent. The Big East could help by scheduling non-conference games with them until they find a home.

  140. WarriorNY June 30, 2012 5:41 pm

This whole thing is very confusing… Why are the only reports coming out of Las Vegas? and why are they conflicting?!

  141. SteveM June 30, 2012 5:43 pm

    [tsigh]

I think you guys are just sandbagging me…or no one who who knows the answer really wants a Mongolian BBQ dinner… 🙁

Anyway, homey and Wreck are not the ones who came to my mind when we were talking of [Mongolian] BBQing yesterday.

I do not know who has gas grills at home–so to be fairer, this “contest” person had to been seen cooking by other Tsai-kos previously and/or they know he is the owner of said grill when eating.

Anyway, here is a very interesting case of someone “hiding in plain sight”. 😆 😛

  142. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 5:48 pm

I guessed A-House. Do I get another guess, since I’m oh so far away?

  143. HiFlyer June 30, 2012 5:49 pm

    SteveM

    Pride or Bulla

  144. Wes'side Warrior June 30, 2012 5:50 pm

HiFlyer, I wrote Bulla as my first guess, but then changed it to A-House.

If I get a second guess, my guess is… SteveM!!!

  145. mo808 June 30, 2012 5:51 pm

Congrats to Stretch on the hole in one (no mattah temporary or not–still quite a feat)!

  146. jm2375 June 30, 2012 5:55 pm

HiFlyer — Not Pride or Bulla… but you are the most “correct” so far in having eliminated most of the incorrect possibilities yesterday afternoon. I think I see your reasoning in guessing Pride or Bulla… you are on the right track.

    😎

    Wes’side Warrior — sorry, not A-House.

  154. WarriorNY June 30, 2012 6:22 pm

    Gigi,

That’s good news for the Nets but you just gotta feel bad for the Orlando Magic and especially Stan Van Gundy… I can’t imagine being fired for a guy that is demanding to leave…

  166. HawaiiMongoose June 30, 2012 7:17 pm

Amazing. BSU gives notice just two hours before the deadline but (apparently) still has no home for Olympic sports.

    http://voices.idahostatesman.com/2012/07/01/bmurphy/boise_state_beats_deadline_withdraws_mountain_west

According to a BSU fan on one of the message boards, Kustra said BSU was preparing to announce a return to the MWC until yesterday when the Big East made some kind of new offer, but the details weren’t worked out until late today.

The fan also quoted Kustra as saying the Big West was “out of the picture days ago” so it seems UH will not be playing Olympic sports with the Broncos. (At least it looks that way until everything changes again.)

Truth stranger than fiction is right!

  167. iwonderwhytheyhateme June 30, 2012 7:23 pm

The thought of having to include BSU in the BWC is a 1000000x worse than a MWC without Donk football.

  168. d1shima June 30, 2012 7:44 pm

As a parting gift, things still appear “WAC-y”.

  169. tommui June 30, 2012 8:00 pm

    #136 IWWTHM and #137 DoubleB =

Fingers go faster than my brain – that’s why I typed my #135

Sorry to cause the initial confusion.

The Idaho Statesman says that the other teams will join the WAC in 2013 – but wonder what happens if there is no WAC?

  170. Stretch June 30, 2012 8:41 pm

Thanks everyone but I did NOT hit a hole in one…. not officially. There is a temporary green close to the actual green I was supposed to be aiming. My aim was a little off and I hit to the wrong green and the ball went in the hole. Maybe one of these days I will hit the green that I am supposed to.

  171. Slugger June 30, 2012 8:47 pm

    Good question, tommui…

The Idaho Statesman says that the other teams will join the WAC in 2013 – but wonder what happens if there is no WAC?

  172. Mad Dog June 30, 2012 9:02 pm

Did San Diego State already give notice to leave the MWC or were they waiting for Boise to make the first move?

  173. HEINEKEN June 30, 2012 9:18 pm

We are now members of the Big West and MWC. It been updated Pacific time

  174. K-Bay June 30, 2012 9:28 pm

They “shut down” their pathetic programs — it’s not as if they currently “fully support” or fund them now…

    OR More Likely…

They would schedule like independents (which is what they are without a conference) playing in-state rivals and lower division schools to fill pukas they can’t fill while scheduling around everyone else’s conference schedules; the ‘extra’ lower division wins wouldn’t count IF their teams ever got close to post-season consideration…

…until they find temporary or a semi-permanent home for their non-income sports…[BW, MWC, Big Sky, etc..]

Less Likely but they deserve each other…the Big East Schools could temporarily include BSU as an associate conference member in minor sports OR just encourage Big East schools to help by scheduling games or home and home series against BSU weenie sports teams…

Actually, with the Extra Money they’re supposed to or think they’ll earn in The Big East they “should” be able to afford the extra travel of playing say in the BE, but I’m pretty sure those teams wouldn’t care to travel to Boise any more than we did…and likely BSU would lose even more road games flying East…

  175. RedZone June 30, 2012 9:50 pm

So if Boise wanted to schedule a game in its other sports I would say sure but only home games. I wonder what will happen when their football program takes a dive? It is only a matter of time.

  176. BigHiloFan2 June 30, 2012 9:59 pm

    SteveM

are you da guy in plain sight? 😀

  177. Kekoa June 30, 2012 10:26 pm

Aha! It was a temporary hole-in-one! We have to make note of that in the Tsaiko record book with the customary *asterisk.* You also get the Razzberry award Stretch.

Now report to the Na Koa board room for further instructions.

  178. al June 30, 2012 11:34 pm

    congratulations to coach phil rauscher.

    but,

wasn’t it in your contract to stay single?

is this going to reduce your ability to recruit 24/7?

will the wife allow you to sleep at the office?

now you gotta go get a real place to stay.

  179. al June 30, 2012 11:41 pm

i’d take the hole-in-one, heck about the disclaimer.

  180. al June 30, 2012 11:46 pm

lost in the shuffle…welcome back iwwthm.

  181. A-joe July 1, 2012 12:06 am

    FINALLY!!!

    Go already!!!

  182. Kekoa July 1, 2012 1:45 am

    A-joe ~

I could hear the sounds of the washtub bass drifting across the Wessai. Hope all went well.

  183. HawaiiMongoose July 1, 2012 4:40 am

ESPN says Boise State will continue in its efforts to join the Big West for non-football sports. Not only that, but the Big East has agreed to provide financial assistance to help Boise State subsidize travel costs of Big West members to Idaho.

    http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/8118915/boise-state-broncos-beat-deadline-bolt-mountain-west

What a deal! This would be like the MWC paying Hawaii’s cost of subsidizing Big West travel costs to the Islands.

I don’t begrudge Boise State putting its football team in the Big East if that’s what it wants to do, but I’m convinced UH has got to do whatever it can to keep the Broncos out of the Big West. It’s bad enough that they’ll have far more TV money (as will San Diego State) for facilities and recruiting than the other Big West members. Now on top of that they’ll be receiving a special Big East payment to cover costs that UH will be taking out of its pocket. It’s not a level playing field and UH shouldn’t stand for it.

  184. Pomai July 1, 2012 4:47 am

My question is what does this say about the Big East that they are so desperate to have BSu in their conference?

  185. mctruck July 1, 2012 4:50 am

The way I see it; BSU had better pay head fb coach, Petersen one humongou$$$ salary to keep his services in tack with the school. All the rest of the other sports will have to get by with left overs, so to speak.

If the WAC folds in the near future…then that opens another can of worms.

I think BSU’s mentality going foward will be to TRY to win every game like their very survival depended on it, especially in bigeast play.

  186. mctruck July 1, 2012 5:00 am

I smile everytime I envision the renewed rivalry with BSU/Petersen going up against coach Jones/SMU. That will be games to keep an eye on!

  187. mctruck July 1, 2012 5:01 am

and I’m rooting for coach Jones, of course!!

  188. mctruck July 1, 2012 5:04 am

Looking for a big,”W” and a sold out house when UH plays the broncs at home.

  189. krump1_AKA_protector July 1, 2012 5:44 am

Me too, mctruck (for #199 and #200)!!

  190. krump1_AKA_protector July 1, 2012 5:47 am

I also hope the Big West says no, regardless of the Big East-sponsored subsidies. BSU brings nothing to the table in terms of competition.

  191. mo808 July 1, 2012 6:17 am

Good Morning and happy 1st day of July! We’re getting closer to that first game against USC!

I saw a movie last night called The Fifth Quarter based upon the true story of Jon Abbate. A story of family, faith, and football. Jon’s youngest brother was killed in a tragic accident and Jon inspired by Luke’s memory courageously leads his Wake Forest (predicted to be near last in the season) to a series of last-minute victories.

I was inspired–maybe UH get chance to win more games than it is predicted to win with faith and hard work!

  192. A-House July 1, 2012 7:25 am

    Good morning, ST:

Time to rise and shine and give us a new “posting”!

    A New Day…

Welcome to The Big West and Mountain West…

    Aloha to The WAC

(Hang in There; like the MPSF, we may need options one day…)

  196. mo808 July 1, 2012 7:58 am

The thing about a new day is you get another chance, another crack at it whatever it is. A new beginning to start a fresh. Sorry guys, I woke up feeling philosophical…must be Sunday!

  197. Da Punchbowl Kid July 1, 2012 8:37 am
