CFL’s Warriors

Oh, Canada.

In the Canadian Football League, there are 12 players on each side, the field is longer and wider than American football’s field, and defense is spelled “defence.”

But the CFL, which opened the exhibition schedule this week, is employers to these former Warriors:

> Solomon Elimimian, linebacker, B.C. Lions

> Paipai Falemalu, defensive lineman, Toronto Argonauts

> John Hardy-Tuliau,  defensive back, B.C. Lions

> Bryant Moniz, quarterback, Calgary Stampeders

> Chad Owens, slotback/returner, Toronto Argonauts

Mike Edwards had signed with Montreal in February. His agent texted this morning Edwards is a free agent seeking an opportunity in the NFL.

The UH football coach have hit the road today — Maui, to be exact — for this leg of the coaches clinics for high school students.

Happy birthday to Bulla.

    WarriorNY:
It’s probably an oversight, but his name is not showing up on the roster.

  7. Da Punchbowl Kid June 10, 2014 9:04 am

    Good Morning Gangeez! 😉

That’s terrific news about our CFL Warriors! That Owens guy might be the best player in the Canadian League, ey?

  8. Da Punchbowl Kid June 10, 2014 9:09 am

    Howzit Warrior NY!

That fella in Vegas mighta been the coroner guy from Hawaii 5-0.

Just kidding… word on the street is that Stephen was in Vegas last week. If the guy was at the side of a beautiful woman by the name of Wena, that would have been the blogmeister.

  9. Stephen Tsai June 10, 2014 9:11 am

    K. It’s clarified. Mike Edwards is a free agent seeking an NFL opportunity.
    Hmmm.
He’s from Ohio. His UH recruiter — Tony Tuioti — works for the Browns. Cleveland head coach Mike Pettine is friends with Rich Miano, who coached Edwards. Hmmm … Wouldn’t that be a perfect match?

  10. Stephen Tsai June 10, 2014 9:19 am

Pettine will be on vacation next week on Kauai and Oahu.

    4. yea Cayman still has a shot in the future- my understanding is that Canadian colleges allow athletes to play for 5 years (and take 9 units full time), unlike the US. there may be some differences within that, but I like their arrangement where players can try out and then go back to school seemingly in a less arduous process.

  12. WarriorNY June 10, 2014 9:36 am

    Good luck to Mr Edwards…

How’s it going DPK! Sorry I been super busy on flights. What day is it?

I read that John Estes got added to the B.C Lions camp roster. Is he officially with the team? or was he just added as an extra body? I don’t see his name on their roster.

    RE: #20
    Thank you tom-warriornation!

If any plan to attend any road game (even tentatively), please post which one here on the blog or email me. The 2014 Tsai-ko Away Game list is posted at:
    http://home.roadrunner.com/~smurashi/tsai-kos/away14.html

See who else is attending. Please email me to provide hotel/lodging and any organized tour you might be on. We’ve had a case of two Tsai-kos who never met personally and on the same tour. People who are in the same hotel usually meet easily and share resources.
