Alo moves back to QB

Two years ago, Justin Alo signed as a quarterback.

His UH career was delayed twice — first as a grayshirt and then with an injury that led to redshirting as a freshman this past season. In between, Alo moved to receiver.

But that was then, and now Alo is moving back to quarterback entering the offseason conditioning program that begins in January.

“He’s a very good player,” UH coach Norm Chow said.

The move will provide balance at the position. For 2013, there will be two senior QBs (Sean Schroeder, Cayman Shutter) and two juniors (Taylor Graham and Jeremy Higgins). Ikaika Woolsey and Alo will be second-year freshmen.

Aaron Zwahlen will be the only high school senior to sign with the Warriors in February. Zwahlen plans to go on a two-year church mission after he graduates in June, and will join the Warriors in 2015.

That is interesting that Boise has a minor-league baseball team but no college team.

Boise all sports would move back to the MWC as well as SDSU teams I believe also. And with the restructured deal ,It gives BYU an option to come IF they want to.

    MWC > BE

    GOOD MORNING HAWAI’I!

As long as we don’t have to pay her/them alimony or support maintenance, and as long as we have the family house and not subject to eviction …

gobows– it was Johnny Manziels birthday. He was at the Heisman awards during his birthday. No one gave him money. His folks got the tix for him. Your point? Sorry but this is a nice kid from a wonderful family. I know his Mom, Michelle as she works in the store Harleys where I buy some of my hubs clothes when we are at our place in Bryan College Station.

Would you take back an ex who was attractive, popular and successful, but had a wandering eye?

In this equation, ex = Boise State.

There might be more to the equation, Mr. Tsai and all. This ex’ is also: big, beefy, and corn fed. And doesn’t seem to know what she wants. And has the face of a horse. And is a big horse. Ugly.

Let the 12/21/2012ers (man, as time goes on, they’re gonna look more aged than wearing bell bottoms and use of horse and buggy as transportation.) have her; they deserve each other 😉 .

d1shima (x2), BIK, Micah, Haleakala, SteveM, HIFlyer, gobows (x3), TMx808, and Mr. Stephen Tsai . . . thanks for waking up early.

Haven forbid if UH has to dole out travel subsidies to Boise and San Diego St should they remain in the MWC.

Their official notice to leave the MWC for the Big East should make them ineligible under current MWC rule – however, if Thompson wants to make a “deal” with Boise and San Diego he may just “dangle” free trips to Hawaii; not at the conference’s expense, but UH. That would really be the pits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, more importantly, perhaps, a civil action by UH against Thompson, individually, and the MWC. Individually so Thompson must hire his own attorney, at his own expense to defend against the law suit.

Again, some will say why do this against the conference? Simple, it’s all about the principle of fairness and integrety by individuals who may place themselves above everyone else.

    Good morning!!!!!!

    jm2375:

what about exit fee “after” 10 years?

hey, maybe BSU and SDSU can work out an installment plan to pay the Big East exit fee and full pay to rejoin the MWC?

Fresno and Reno had an installment plan to pay the $1 million to exit the WAC. Still can’t figure out why useless Benson agreed to that when they put the WAC in serious jeapordy.

by the way, how much did UH pay the WAC to leave? was it “zero” because they notified the WAC on/before the June 30 deadline?

good news that Alo moving back to QB giving UH at least 2 experienced QBs when Zwahalen returns from this 2 year mission – allow him to practice before he can contend for the starting position in 2015 or would UH have him “red shirt” to get back his physical and mental conditioning? if so, wouldn’t UH need another QB? maybe recruit one in 2014? who knows, Zwahalen, and I sincerely hope not, may opt to transfer to BYU.

is there any concern that Graham will have no game expereince should he start the 8/29/13 game against USC?

like other positions, there is much stragetizing to be accomplished by the coaching staff

yes, folks, it’s a THURSDAY just to accommodate ESPN – except this time UHhas a legit shot of giving the “rub” or if very lucky to win!!!!!!!!!!

  36. A-House December 22, 2012 9:43 am

any more news on “transfers”? this should be an open topic because this in not against NCAA rules of the “dead period”

#29 and 32, usually government checks have a “Cash by” date. If it has passed, they will have to request a replacement check. They can do that by sending the check back, with letter of explanation. If the funds have been escheated, then they can contact the state office that handles unclaimed funds. In Cali, it is http://www.sco.ca.gov/upd.html.

  41. Chicken Grease December 22, 2012 10:04 am

Heh. Thanks for a few of your concerns ’bout my acquaintance’s refund check; a Grease assumes that he did or didn’t cash it. He’s one of those people a Grease talks to every so often (every so YEARS often, apparently, heh.) He sure was complaining about it at the time.

You know . . . unless a Grease missed it while searching? There’s no “wikipedia” on “Ben Jay.”

    You don’t sup[blunder]pose . . . ?

  42. Aaron December 22, 2012 10:25 am

the MWC should do everything they can to get BSU and SDSU back. BSU returning is a powerful message: the Big East isn’t better than the MWC. It would make other schools think twice about leaving and instead try to make the MWC as strong as it can be. These are tumultuous times, and the conferences that survive will thrive and those that don’t will die.

Maybe my prayers have been answered. Justin Alo is back at QB. I went back and watched some film on him and what I saw is a QB who can throw, has very good mobility, and can run, and scramble. I really like the way he throws the deep ball. He makes plays. He can run a spread offense. Hello! When Chow says that Alo is a very good player you take it as face value that he means it. And in that case we don’t need to recruit another QB in the 2013 signings. Great too because Justin is already in the program and going to school and ready to practice. This is great and I commend Chow for making this switch. Maybe he went back and watch some film too and he saw something and his eyes lit up.

It’s the dead period, but recruiting continues and coaches can make some calls. Good luck coaches. Watching UW and Boise. I’m sure coaches are recording this game too. These 2 teams open next season at the newly renovated Husky Stadium.

Not really a person to comment and I usually don’t read too many columnist regularly except Lee Cataluna every so often but had to comment on Stephen’s brother’s column today. I am getting tired of shedding tears lately (re: Inouye and Connecticut killings) but must be getting old and sentimental. It was a touching rememberance by Mike about Christmas shopping with his mother before she passed away. Should read about it in today’s paper.

Good year already for Punahou School. President Obama got re-elected. Manti Teo won a ton of major awards, Notre Dame is 12-0 and is playing for the National Championship, Jeremy Ioane make the game saving interception for Boise State as they beat the Huskies 28-26, Norm Chow is having an excellent recruiting season, and do I dare say, maybe Gib Arnold’s team can maybe spring up 3 upsets in a row (Miami, Arizona, and SanDiego St.) to win the Diamond Head Classic. Naw, that would be too much to ask!!!!!

  64. laulau head December 22, 2012 2:50 pm

    From ESPN.com

“Boise reminds me of the teenage recruit who is starting to believe he’s the biggest star in town,” a source said. “It might be a pretty big letdown when all is said and done. Actually the sentiment of ‘who do they think they are’ is starting to seep into conversations with folks across college football.

“Let’s remember this isn’t Alabama, or even Texas Tech, we’re talking about. This sorry episode is starting to make it seem like Boise is one of the power assets in college football. In reality their value is relative to the conference they belong to.”

UW fans can’t be happy with the direction the Husky program has been head these last two seasons. Considering the amount of money spent on football, the facilities there (renovated stadium), a highly paid head coach and coordinator, but disappointing results, Steve Sarkisian could be on the hot seat come next season.

#18 Johnny Manziel said he bought himself a birthday present. So I guess he lied. There was no point to make. just relayed the facts.

are you saying good ole johnny football lied to the world about buying the tickets? did his parents also get him the tickets for the houston game the night before?

maybe you should follow him on twitter to see what other things he’s lying about.

This much I know, Rainbow Warriors basketball team is horrible!

Gib has little or no guard play at all.

    Jace Tavita, no game.

    Hauns Brereton, missing in action.

Brandon Jawato, he did show signs of life.

UH guards can’t shoot, nor can they perform and entry pass into their big men, frustrating to watch.

And UH does have two decent big men in Fotu and an injured Vander Joaquim. Vander by the way, still looks very much bothered by that knee injury.

Gonna be a long season gang!
