Wednesday shocker: UCSB over Pepperdine in Malibu

Very surprising: Gauchos win 25-15, 15=25, 26-25, 25-22.
It was the first loss in 20 matches in Firestone for the Waves. They had set the school record of 20 with last week’s win over UCLA.
Pepperdine clinches the No. 3 seed at 17-5.

Cindy, thanks for the write-up on Rooks and Brown. They have really improved and deserve the attention.

thanks cindy, for the info in your last post yesterday… i guess, as is nearly always the case, there’s always more going on behind the scenes …

i was watching the live stream yesterday of ucsb-pepperdine. the gauchos were fired up yesterday! … especially their opposite kevin donohue. they were serving well (and passing can be pepp’s achilles’ heel), with jonah seif getting back to back aces to win a tight 4th set, and the match.

    4. thanks for your recap. My son (a Pepperdine grad who did their matches on radio when he was in school) was not happy. He was watching as well.

The discussion in our house is Who does Hawaii want to play in the first round?

    3. yes, some behind the scenes that don’t always make it out for public knowledge. But that was one version I got. I have heard 3 others. I’m guessing the truth lies somewhere in between.
