First time I’ve seen the Warriors this season in person. Not sure I like the intros. way too long.
Took until point 5 for UH to get a kill. They have more aces (3) than kills (2) trailing at 8-9
UH’s serving has been impressive. Not sure if they can keep it up all night. UH on a 3-0 run, lead 13-11. TO Pepperdine.
Pepperdine on a 4-0 run behind the serving of Torres. Waves lead at the TTO 15-13
Sedore serves into the net, Waves with another block. TO Warriors trailing 18-15.
2 net serves and another block by the Waves. To UH trailing 22-17.
Warriors hold off one set point but not the second, Torres with his seventh kill. Waves win 25-19.
Waves hit 480, Torres 7-19, Kalmbach 4-0-6. 6. 5 blocks, 3 SE, 0 A
Warriors hit .167, Marks 4-3-8, Sedore 4-3-9. 2 aces, 4 SE, 1 block.
both teams with 9 digs.
That was a quick timeout by Dunphy. UH with 2 blocks and Torres hits wide. UH up 5-1 behind Marks’ serving.
Nice out of system play by Cheape and Zarkovic. UH up 15-10 at the TTO.
another hitting error by Pepperdine. UH up 20-14. TO Waves.
Think Verna, the up ref, missed that one. definite carry by Kalmbach.
New AD Ben Jay sitting a couple of seats over. Asked him if he liked volleyball. He said yes. We chatted a little about Ohio State winning a couple of years ago over UCSB. And he spoke a little about when the Buckeyes hosted in 08.
Is that UH AD wearing pepperdine colors?
Ace by Sedore and a kill by Zarkovic help the Warriors close it out 25-18.
Set 2. UH hits. 481 to Pep’s 250
Warriors won the block battle 3-1.
Sedore 7-3-16, Marks 6-3-11, Zarkovic 8-1-16, he was 6-0-10 in Set 2.
Torres 8-2-16, he was 1-1-7 in Set 2.
UH 2 aces, 4 SEs, Pepperdine 0 aces, 3 SEs.
Hawaii up 7-3 in Set 3. TO Pepperdine. Last point was a net-roll ace by Sedore.
After such a hot start, Torres has really cooled off. Hit into the net, then hit long. UH up 10-4.
Waves on a bit of a roll, have closed it to 11-9. TO UH.
Sedore is serving like a beast!
Warriors answer back. kills by Sedore, arks and Zarkovic make it 15-10 at the TTO.
Interesting sub. Averill now setting for Ramos with UH up 19-14.
Yeah, i didn’t think that would last long. Ramos back in to set. Torres puts down the overset. UH was up 19-14. Waves have closed to 19-17. TO UH.
West on quite a serving run. Pepperdine takes the lead at 20-19 on a block of Marks. Net serve by West and it’s tied 20-20
IMHO, it was a very poor coaching decision to switch setters. UH was up 19-13. Waves serving for Set 3 at 24-22
Waves win 25-22
Demoralizing.
Jay is wearing a blue aloha shirt and a kukui nut lei.
Jeez this team can choke away leads like no one else.
Charlie please change the setter…
yep, outscored 12=3 at the end.
You cannot blame Ramos for that one. They lost the momentum when Averill came in to set at 19-14.
I just am not impressed with ramo’s sets I like his serving though.. If Max is healthy I’d let him set.
Don’t know Wechsung’s status. if they went with Averill must be something.
But I do like Sean Carney’s energy as a coach. talking a lot to Ramos. UH up 10-9 in Set 4.
JP has got to one of the most inconsistent hitters I have ever seen, men or women. He has soo much potential though.
The refs are so horrible ugh.
Yes, Sedore’s serve should have been an ace. from the replay it was in by at least 1 foot.
The Waves with a block. lead 15-14 at the TTO.
Agree, WF. Verna is usually a lot better than tonight. but the linesmen never get any better.
Olsen makes an appearance Makes an immediate impact. he teams with Holt to stuff Torres. UH takes the 16-15 lead. TO Waves.
Averill and Setdore block Rhein, giving UH a 19-18 lead. TO Pepperdine.
Really hope that missed call isn’t the difference in this set 4. Timmer is such a great serving specialist.
Warriors were up 23-19, Pepperdine has closed to 23-21. TO UH
Taylor hits long UH wins 25-21. on to Set 5, for the 4th time in 4 home matches this year.
UH is 1-3 in 5 setters, Pepperdine hasn’t gone to 5 yet.
Fingers crossed that they pull this one out. Is it just me or is the time on posts off? last post by Cindy says it was made at 8:43 pm?
yes, the timestamp is off by over 30 mintues. really odd but thanks for pointing it out.
There’s been like 2 kills this set. everything else service errors, 1 ace, and now 1 block. it’s 4-4
Wow I am gonna lose my hair because of all these service errors in this fifth set by the warriors.
A kill by Averill and a Wave hitting error gives UH its first lead of Set 5 at 12-11. TO Pepperdine
Torres tops it, hits way long. UH up 13-11. TO Pepperdine.
I hope i Don’t jinx it but this would be a huge win, way bigger than the ucla match.
What a great win, Brook and Siki were so great, If JP can get it going ( fingers crossed) they can sneak into the playoffs.
I still hope Max and Anefrei get into the lineup though.
Great win. Zarkovic serves the last five points. UH was down 10-11. win it 15-11
They can take them tonight too – go Warriors! See Warriofan? Other teams make errors, and so do coaches.
