not totally surprised after 5-0 loss to SC. We’ll see what happens Tuesday when SC hosts Pepperdine.

It would be very interesting to see Speiler and Tiegs team up as a team. I know they both lack height but it would be interesting to see 2 sand volleyball players with high IQ’s and quickness on the sand do as a team.
If Speiler or Teigs were 6’1 or more; no doubt they would be the #1 team…They both play high octane savvy sand volleyball..JMO!

Very high IQ and it would be interesting but not going to happen. Hall said today that Nos. 1-2-3 are set for the year and that he’ll look at 4-5-6 as to what changes he might make.
Hawaii has an advantage when playing on deeper sand of Queen’s because they are smaller. The bigger players sink in the deeper sand. The harder shallower sand at places like Ching and SC favor heavier teams.

The shallow sand also makes the game more physical. It is much easier for players to jump and move in the shallow sand. With deeper sand, players who can control the ball can do better.

Has Hall mentioned changing the placements of the teams? Move Spieler/Urban to #1? Or would that be predicated on match ups?

    Cindy,

You mention the different advantages regarding the type of sand, do you know how the sand is at the beach in Alabama where the Championships are held?

  10. Cindy Luis March 24, 2015 10:13 am

    6. if you read the post above yours, it answers your question.

moving teams up and down a little tricky. there are rules in place to prevent ‘sandbagging’ .

    8. thanks was just getting to that.

    9. Alabama beach has deeper sand than Ching from what I’ve been told. Have never been to the site.
